Default A DX dilemma

I've always wondered this. I've thrown it out on other message boards a time or two looking for an answer and never received a satisfactory reply. I'm hoping someone can help me understand.

Now I completely get how DX could get everyone in the audience -- teens and young adult males, primarily -- to go along with "I've got two words for ya: Suck It." Makes complete sense. It's a graphic putdown.

But how in the world, and why in the world, would legions of young males stand as one and chant along with: "Let's get ready to succccckkkkkk it"????

To those who participated, what were you getting ready to suck? Isn't that kind of self-degrading? Did you ever think of it in that way? Did it make you uncomfortable?

Or was it just, 'If it's good enough for DX it's good enough for me"?

I'm serious. I wonder if HHH and Shawn had a few good laughs over getting their fans to go along with that. I'd love to get some input on this thing as it just seems ... odd.

No idea, i first remember them doing the promo at over the edge 1998 before facing the nation.

I hated that line mainly due to HHH's weird low growling when doing the line.

I cant remember them doing the promo before then though

You're overthinking this. It's a play off of Buffer, who was the ring announcer in WCW at the time, saying let's get ready to rumble. They just replaced rumble with suck it.

WWE wrestler Triple H created the phrase "Let's get ready to suck it!" as part of his D-Generation X act to mock Buffer while he was on WWF Raw's rival show WCW Monday Nitro during the Monday Night Wars. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Buffer#Wrestling

Yes, it was mocking Buffer, plus I doubt anyone thought too much into it, they just went along with it as it was fun to get involved.

Unless you're only referring to the dx reunion in 2006 then you're completely wrong because when Triple H was in the original DX then later the new reformed DX they were not even close to dating at that point

I want to hear from those among the thousands of people chanting along in arenas when DX appeared what they thought about going along with getting ready to suck something.

I think HHH and HBK were clowning their fans.

lol, I remember hearing stories back in the attitude era, sometimes at live shows, little kids, if they got upset would tell their parents to "suck it". Maybe that's why the PG era happened.
