Re: 80's-90's Obscure Wrestler Challenge Game

No clue on:
Laurent Soucie
Mighty Joe Thunder

confident on the rest.

Did some looking for Thunder, how did I miss this guy? I know some of his other incarnations but not this one. Apparently it's a bit of a wrestling "legend". Can't find any video of his debut.

There used to be a few videos of him on Youtube, but apparently the account has been terminated. I wish you could have seen him -- it was laughable, to say the least.

Re: 80's-90's Obscure Wrestler Challenge Game

Thunderfoot

Wrestled in Crockett, I believe

Bota

I remember reading about "Bota The Witch Doctor." It's gotta be Memphis and Lawler had to be booking.

Jimmy Jack Funk

I forget his real name, but he wrestled in WWF for a while as another Funk relative.

Len Denton

1/2 of the Dirty White Boys with Tony Anthony.

Ray Candy

Large black man. Think he wrestled mainly in Mid South. Might have had a run in Memphis too.

Dizzy Hogan

A pre-Brutus Beefcake Brutus Beefcake.

Badstreet

Brad Armstrong as a Freebird in early 90s WCW.

Chris Chetti

ECW low midcarder. Taz's cousin. 1997 PWI Rookie of the Year, iirc.

The Magic Dragon

Wrestled for Crockett in the early 80s. Wore either a mask or facepaint. Think his real name is Bill Howard.

Reggie B. Fine

Memphis manager.

J.C.Ice
aka Jamie Dundee. 1/2 of PG 13. Wrestled mainly in Memphis

Checkmate

British wrestler, Tony Charles.

The sad thing is I only saw a few of these guys wrestle. I read waaaaay too much about wrestling back in the day.

Wow great effort there....I was looking for a different Checkmate but will give you credit. Missed one, unless I am mistaken I don't think Bill Howard was the Magic Dragon, nor a Crocket guy.

You did not attempt the bonus...give that one a shot.

Figures. He was one of the few in this batch I actually saw wrestle on tape. I must have got my wires crossed.

No but really that was a good guess. I am going to PM you, You will be humored.

Funny thing I think you were right on Checkmates real identity. I thought mistakenly for years that it was someone else so 11 of 12 for you.

Re: 80's-90's Obscure Wrestler Challenge Game

I never got a chance to explain some of the names on my list.

The Carolina Connection was a tag team in the early-80s WWF consisting of "Quick Draw" Rick McGraw & Steve Travis.

Tiger Chung Lee was Mr.Fuji's tag team partner, but eventually they split and had a brief feud against each other, with Fuji getting the upper hand. He wrestled as Kim Duk in Japan and also was in the movie 'The Golden Child' with Eddie Murphy.

Suni War Cloud was an Indian wrestler in Canada and also competed overseas. Bret Hart mentions him quite negatively in his book.

Swede Hanson had a popular heel tag team with Rip Hawk. He also had a couple of heel runs in the WWF, first in 1979 (as a heel managed by Freddie Blassie) and next from 82-86 (working mainly as a jobber.)

The Minotaur was Steve DiSalvo's brief gimmick in WCW. DiSalvo had wrestled in Stampede and was pegged for greatness by the Apter mags due to his physique, but he never panned out.

JW Storm, in addition to what was already said, also had a WWE tryout, although nothing came of it. He had been in The Juice Patrol as Big Juice with Beetlejuice Art Barr. Teamed with Scotty Flamingo (Raven) at Halloween Havoc '90. He was a big muscular guy, about 6'3" 285.

Salvatore Bellomo started out in early 80s WWF as an acrobatic high flyer. He had some initial success but once Vince Jr. took over he was relegated to a jobber.

Mighty Joe Thunder was a guy named Bob Stanlee, who had worked some other gimmicks back in the 60s before retiring. In the early 80s he was strangely brought back to the WWF managed by Lou Albano but by that time he was in his 50s and could barely move. He only wrestled 3 or 4 matches before he was canned.
