Re: Fuck you mods
And on the fifth page, I make my appearance. Here goes...
Ironically, BB has actually achieved part of what he criticised in his first post. Here is a thread that hasn't flown off topic. It's not full of spam. There are plenty of replies from people expressing opinions and discussing them.
I will agree with what several people have said, though. The forum is perhaps missing the characters that it once had. Not only that, but perhaps familiar faces. Jake makes super-rare cameo appearances, MJW, as she says, almost only peruses the Entertainment forums. The forums are also suffering from Lee not being able to come on, not just for what he did but also for his posts. Rajah's absence is also noteworthy.
That said, it's all well and good for longer-term members to complain about the state of the forums, but I don't see them as having any place to criticise and not attempt to do anything about it. It's like moaning that you're hungry but are too lazy to get up and make yourself something to eat.
I think it's unfair to criticise the majority of the staff. BDV1 oversees what has become a highly successful forum. The others, mostly, pull their weight. Cody appears to find himself constantly on the wrong end of things, and that seems a bit unfair.
As for me not doing anything in Anything, I've made a few threads recently. I've closed a couple too. It's not always easy, though. I have a full time job. I work every day except weekends, large parts of which I'm often busy during as it's my only free time. I still come here when I can and post. If I see something that needs moderating, super or otherwise, I do it. The thing is that half the people complaining don't visit all the forums. They don't see what gets done that isn't staring them in the face. On that basis, they aren't qualified to make an informed criticism.
Ultimately, there are two choices for members who aren't liking it here to pick from. Option one is to leave. That way, the state of the forums can't bother you.
The second, more preferable and no doubt more fruitful option is to post more. If you want to post a thread, post it. You don't have to be happy about the way things are all the time, far from it. Life would stagnate if we all just bumbled through and the same would apply to these forums. But don't just whinge. Try to do something about it.
