Re: hay wtf h8 u nightmare
Swindy hit the nail on the head with the part about being too lost in the on-screen character that Paul Levesque plays. Fact is, most people hate him because his character is currently heel. When he came back from his quad injury and he was the badass face for a bit, everyone loved him. Then he turned heel(which he plays better than anyone in the history of WWE currently) and people turn on him. The select few that can actually see past the character, and actually see what he does for the company, and see his wrestling talent, are the ones who can really appreciate him. I pity the people who can't look past something as simple as an on-air character. Fact is, he carries the belt most of the time because
A. He's one of the best people to carry the belt, with all his wrestling ability, veteran smarts, and the fact that he can be counted on to deliver time after time.
B. He's one of, if not the best heel. And when is he at is best as a heel? When he's got the belt. That's when the heat is on him most.
People who buy into the internet rumors and believe he's actually in Vince's ear telling him to let him keep the belt for extended periods of time are obviously quite gullible, and/or just looking for anything to blame HHH's success on. HHH obviously wouldn't do anything that would hurt the business. To quote his peers(other wrestlers), HHH eats, sleeps, and breathes the business. He's probably the most hard working main eventer currently. Why would he use "backstage politics" when he clearly doesn't need them. He's been at the top for many years now. Even before he "married the boss's daughter", he was at the top, holding the belt. Nothing much has changed since he's married Stephanie. So IMO, the whole backstage politics thing is bull.
In conclusion, people need to start watching wrestling remembering that it's a scripted, planned out show. I mean, my mom watches wrestling every week, and has been for years. She understands that wrestling is all scripted and planned and such, but she still takes the characters too seriously. She loves the faces, hates the heels...it's quite funny. She despised Batista when he was in Evolution. Then he turned face, and went after HHH. Right away, she loves him. She often says that she hates HHH "with a passion" and would love to see him dead(yes, literally dead...she takes it serious enough to wish death upon a man who is just earning a living entertaining us). But when HHH came back from his quad injury years back, she was cheering for him. The minute someone turns face, she's for them. When they're heel, she's against them. I think that sums up a good amount of the people who despise HHH.
And no, I'm not a huge HHH fan or a mark, so save those comments. I'm just an unbiased wrestling fan. I honestly can't name a wrestler that I overly hate, or overly love. If they're entertaining and/or a good wrestler, chances are I'll enjoy them.
The good ol' days.
