World Championship Wrestling 2000 – A fresh start

WCW has entered the year 2000 in a bad way. The promotion isn't quite dead yet but seems to be on its last legs. The company has reportedly lost $15 million in 1999 alone. After struggling to maintain buy rates of yesteryear along with T.V ratings that have continued to slide, people associated with World Championship Wrestling are very worried. The continuing growth of their main rival the World Wrestling Federation has seen WCW fall further and further behind. With fans being offered a must see show with the WWF currently, WCW is reported to continue to under perform as we move into the new millennium.

But could the year 2000 bring a change in WCW and its fortunes? Vince Russo the man who arguably helped take the WWF to the top of the mountain has been the head of creative within WCW for the past few months. Along with his friend Ed Ferrara, the two men have seemingly booked WCW into oblivion with strange convoluted story lines. These two men were brought in as a last roll of the dice by WCW management due to their involvement in the growth of the WWF. But that has back fired on management as the Russo/Ferrara experiment has some what failed.

Just days before Souled Out it was reported that WCW U.S Champion Jeff Jarrett and WCW World Heavyweight Champion Bret Hart had both suffered serious injuries that would take them out of their respective matches at the pay per view. Vince Russo the (not so) insane genius decided he wanted to put the WCW World Championship on Tank Abbott. A former shoot fighter who had signed the year before who had not caught on with the fans whatsoever. Bill Busch the current Senior Vice President of WCW has decided to send both Russo and Ferrara home as he wants the company to move in another creative direction.

WCW is in turmoil in and outside the ring with both WCW World Champion and WCW U.S Champion on the shelf. With no real creative direction in the company due to Russo and Ferrara being sent home, World Championship Wrestling really is in free fall. What is next for this once great wrestling company?

The results for the first Pay Per View of the new millennium

This is one of my favourite times in wrestling, not just for WCW but WWF and ECW as well. WCW is in a bad way at this point and I am going to enjoy seeing what I can do with the massive roster there is. I hope you enjoy reading as much as I have had writing it so far.

Hi mate

I couldn't reply to your pm as I need 25 posts to PM. I want to get to know the forum better before I start my BTB so once I have my 25 ill reply to you and see if you can help.

Anyway I digress

Stevy Ray vs. Booker feud I loved I also love how you capture the wCw atmosphere. Everything was realistic which I liked and benoit as champion is interesting as we never saw how that would play out in wCw.

so.... predictions

Chris Benoit def. Sid & Jeff Jarrett - wCw World Championship

Scott Hall def. Billy Kidman - US

Revolution to win tag championship

Bam bam bigelow def. Brian knobbs - hardcore

rey def chavo

outsiders def Funk & rvd??? sabu???

ddp def. Lex luger

Booker def stevy

Wall def kanyon

2 - tag titles & hardcore

I like this mainly because you clearly know the era and I'm a big fan of this time period in WCW. Superbrawl 2000 was actually the first WCW PPV I ever bought on VHS and to be blunt it was pretty bad in real life. I feel you've done a lot better with your rendition of it.

I also must give props for the realism here. A lot of people would look at the roster (Which to be fair was a mess) and would just fire the dead weight and hire a bunch of good indy guys. You haven't done that and it's refreshing to see.

I'd offer more feedback but honestly I don't see anything that I don't like here. It's booked well, it flows well and it's easy to read. Good work and keep it up.

Yes I would just like to echo really what he said you capture the era and its realistic which I like. My predictions went out the window first match but I like that. Chavo got the win but Rey got robbed so doesn't lose face. Also glad Benoit won as I said before it was the reign we never got to see so enjoying seeing it pan out on here.

Will defiantly keep reading if you are carrying this on after the ppv.

Potential. WCW. Win, Win.

I see your older threads didn't really go the distance for whatever reason so, I hope this sticks around. WCW in 2000 was a massive clusterfuck and will be pretty hard to try and improve (if you even want to try to improve it at all) I know when I took this on (and it didn't get to even the first show being posted) my take was to 'make the best on what I had' as opposed to a release here and a release there and a hiring of several big 'fixer uppers'

Best of luck. Hope it remains here for a good while! :)

Interesting time period. Trying to resurrect wCw during this time period, it should be an interesting read. Not my favorite time period of wCw, but that's just because they began to go into the tank and just did such ridiculous angles and matches...it was laughable at times. I look forward to seeing how you switch things up, but then again anything could be better than what actually transpired during this time period, I feel. Best of luck, though.

WCW Monday Nitro preview - 17/01/2000

Nitro is heading to Columbus Ohio just 24 hours after the first Pay Per View of 2000, Souled Out. World Championship Wrestling will be building towards their next event in just five weeks, Superbrawl. Souled Out had a jammed packed card with plenty of explosive action as we saw a new WCW World Heavyweight Champion crowned in the Crippler Chris Benoit.

WCW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit will be at Nitro on Monday as he kick starts his first ever reign atop WCW. Will we see see the Crippler in action or will he just talk about his delight at being the new WCW Champion?

Last night we saw the New World Order reclaim power once again within World Championship Wrestling when Big Sexy Kevin Nash became the Commissioner after he defeated the Hardcore Legend Terry Funk. After several gruelling minutes of hardcore action, Nash dropped Funk with the Jacknife Powerbomb to take control of WCW. The nWo are now running the show with Kevin Nash at the helm of World Championship Wrestling. But what does the booker man have to say on Nitro? Well Nash has announced privately that he will address a few things to kick off Nitro with the first ever New World Order wrestling address.

Billy Kidman last night took on the triple threat theatre as he took on members of the Revolution. His Filthy Animal team mates Konnan and Rey Mysterio Jr had been taken out in the weeks leading up to Souled Out, so Kidman was left to stand alone. After defeating Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn, Kidman came up against the newest member of the Revolution, The Wall. Inside Caged Heat, the Wall came out on top much to the delight of the Franchise Shane Douglas. Will we see the Revolution marching forward or will we see their feud with the Filthy Animals continue?

Last night Brian Knobbs retained his WCW Hardcore Championship in a four the hard way match up. Tonight he takes on one of the men he faced last night at Souled Out, the Monster Meng. Who will come out on top in this hardcore contest?

Also in action on Nitro:

Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner of the nWo will be taking on Konnan of the Filthy Animals in one on one action.

The former Alex Wright, Berlyn will be taking on the Dark Angel Vampiro in a singles contest.

Thank you to everyone who has read and made a comment so far. Hopefully I will get the show up in the next few days and you will enjoy it as much as I have had writing it.

I was pretty young during this time so I can't remember a great deal, but just by going back and researching on the internet I realise that your roster is stacked full of talent, new and old, and hopefully you can harness all of the young, fresh talent whilst making the most out of the star power you have left. It's rare that we see a WCW thread work out around here, other than Szumi's, so hopefully you can keep this up and produce good shows and improve as a booker and as a writer along the way. The formatting of the opening post and the preview shows that you know what you're doing, so all that is left is for you to consistently produce good shows and improve.

Good look, my friend. I'll definitely be reading!

WCW Monday Nitro 17/01/00

A New Chapter for WCW?

We open with a montage of last nights Souled Out Pay Per View. We see Billy Kidman going through the Triple Threat Theatre against members of the Revolution. Oklahoma winning the WCW Cruiserweight championship from Madusa and his subsequent barbecue sauce bath at the hands of Spice, Asya and Madusa. Booker T is shown defeating Stevie Ray as well as the the debut of the former Ahmed Johnson under his new guise, Big T. He came out and attacked Booker after the bell. We then see Kevin Nash with his hand raised after defeating Terry Funk for the WCW Commissionership. Finally we finish with the crowning of the new WCW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit. We see the Crippler getting handed his first WCW World Title after his hard fought win over Sid Vicious in the Main Event.

~ Commissioner Nash ~

The camera cuts backstage straight after the end of the video package to the office of the new WCW Commissioner Big Sexy Kevin Nash. Big Sexy is sitting behind a large desk in a very sharp grey suit. Fellow New World Order members Scott Steiner and Jeff Jarrett join Nash in the office.

Kevin Nash: Ladies and gentleman, I would like to introduce you all to the new WCW Commissioner, me!!! So as I am running this ship, I am going to be making a few announcements and changes right here tonight. So later on I would like to ask all the under achievers and so called talent in this company to come to the ring to hear the first ever New World Order wrestling address. Please enjoy the show, because as of right now, the nWo is running World Championship Wrestling!

Nash leans back in his chair with a large grin on his face with the rest of the nWo members smiling alongside him.

We go to the usual pyro and fireworks as the cameras pan the arena. The camera then finishes at the ringside area where Mike Tenay, Tony Schiavone and Bobby The Brain Hennan are standing by.

Tony Schiavone: Welcome to WCW Monday Nitro everyone. We are coming off the back of WCW Souled Out which was the first Pay Per View of the new millennium. Last night we saw a jam packed show and saw the crowning of a new WCW World Champion, Chris Benoit.

Mike Tenay: And what a night it was Tony, not only did we see the appointment of a new WCW Commissioner in Kevin Nash but like you said we also the crowning of a new WCW World Heavyweight Champion in the Crippler.

Bobby Hennan: A truly great night for World Championship Wrestling. I cannot wait for tonight and what we have in store guys.

Mike Tenay: What about Kevin Nash's opening statement?

Tony Schiavone: I am sure we will some changes to WCW over the coming weeks with the New World Order in charge. But looking at what we already have planned for tonight, we have plenty in store for all of you fans. Brian Knobbs will be defending the WCW Hardcore Title against the Monster Meng. We will also see the Revolution members, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko taking on the duo of Rick Steiner and Mike Rotunda of the Varsity Club. As well as one half of the WCW World Tag Team Champions David Flair will be going one on one with Big Vito of the Mamalukes.

Bobby Hennan: What a night guys. Lets head to the ring.

The camera pans to David Penzer who is standing by.

David Penzer: Ladies and gentleman this is the opening contest for Monday Nitro tonight. And it is for the WCW Hardcore Championship. Introducing first accompanied to the ring by Fit Finlay, he is the WCW Hardcore Champion, Brian Knobbs.

Hardcore Child hits as Knobbs comes out with his advisor/sidekick/friend, Fit Finlay.

David Penzer: And his opponent, from the isle of Tonga, he is the monster, Meng!!

Meng strides out to the ring as he looks pumped up for this upcoming hardcore title match.

Match one

WCW Hardcore Title: Brian Knobbs with Fit Finlay Vs Meng.

Knobbs and Meng have the standard uninspired match up with Meng dominating large parts by using his size and strength. Finlay tries to interject as much as he can in the match up to try and swing the momentum in the way of Knobbs. Meng has Knobbs locked in the Tongan Death Grip which leads Finlay to slide into the ring and waffle Meng in the back with a steel chair. Meng stops the hold and turns to look at Finlay as he backs away. Meanwhile Knobbs picks up a fire extinguisher and nails Meng in the head which knocks the Monster down. Knobbs covers for the three count and the victory.

Winner: WCW Hardcore Champion Brian Knobbs
Match Time: 4.19.

We head backstage where we see Mean Gene Okerlund who is standing by with Booker T and Midnight.

Gene Okerlund: Last night Booker, you went one on one with your brother Stevie Ray. You won that match but after the contest had finished Big T came out from the back and attacked you, what are your thoughts?

Booker T: Gene, Big T is a guy who I thought was still locked up and inside. He was someone me and ma brother relied on to watch our back when we was younger. And last night he came out from nowhere and took me out. You see Stevie, I never wanted to fight my own flesh and blood but you seem hell bent on tearin' this family apart. So next week I want you and Big T to bring your asses to the ring and face me and Midnight in the middle of that ring. And I will show you how personal I am going to make it. Now can you dig that?

Booker and Midnight leave the interview area as Gene looks on. The cameras head back to the ring for our next contest.

David Penzer: This is our next contest tonight, introducing first we have one half of the WCW Tag Team Champions David Flair, and he is accompanied to the ring by Crowbar and Daffney.

Generic rock music hits and here comes the 'Loonies' aka the WCW World Tag Team Champions.

David Penzer: And his opponent, accompanied to the ring at this time by Disco Inferno and Johnny The Bull, here is Big Vito.

'Speak softly love' hits as the Godfather theme rings out from the speakers as the Mamalukes come out to the ring.

Match two

David Flair with Crowbar and Daffney Vs Big Vito with Disco Inferno and Johnny the Bull.

Vito and Flair square off in a one sided match up as Vito pummels David throughout the match with Flair only getting very minimal offence in. Flair imitates his dad throughout the match up with his typical moves and mannerisms. After several moments of Flair having a small amount of the advantage in the match up, Vito begins to come back and begins to dominate David. Eventually Vito picks up the victory with the Paisan Plant (Swinging DDT).

Winner: Big Vito
Match time: 2.49

The Mamalukes celebrate the victory as they leave the ringisde area while Daffney and Crowbar tend to the beaten David Flair.

Commercial Break

We come back from the break and the nWo are walking. Jeff Jarrett with his guitar, Scott Steiner with his led pipe and Kevin Nash in his sharp grey suit. They seem to be making there way to the ringside area. We see the cameras pan to the catering area.

~ Cat Fight? ~

We see the lovely Elizabeth taking a bottled water from the table and as she turns around she bumps into Kimberley Page who was also going for something from the catering table.

Elizabeth: What are you doing Kimberley? Do you not watch where you are going?

Kimberley: Excuse me? You think I meant to do that. Your nearly as stupid as you look Liz.

Kimberley goes to walk away but Elizabeth grabs her by the hair and drags her back.

Elizabeth: Don’t you dare speak to me like that you stupid tramp.

A cat fight breaks out in the catering area for several moments before several agents and wrestlers break it up. Kimberley and Elizabeth shout insults at each other as they are dragged away from each other.

The cameras pan away back to the ringside area as we hear some generic music as the WCW locker room empties out and all of the talent come out from the backstage area. They fill the ring as well as the arena floor.

~ New new new new World Order!!! ~

'Rockhouse' plays over the sound system as the nWo make their way out onto the stage. Scott Steiner and Jeff Jarrett lead out the new WCW Commissioner, Big Sexy Kevin Nash.

Kevin Nash: Ladies and not so gentlemen of World Championship Wrestling. Welcome to the first ever New World Order wrestling address. I have a few things that need to be sorted so bare with me folks. First and foremost last night I destroyed the supposed Hardcore Legend of wrestling, Terry Funk. Terry if your watching at home in Texas then I hope you stay there you crippled old man.

Kevin Nash smiles into the camera as he receives boos from the crowd.

Kevin Nash: Now onto the second point of business. The current WCW Cruiserweight champion Oklahoma, firstly you are not a Cruiserweight, and second of all you no longer work for the company. You are fired. Your a joke Okey and you do not deserve your spot.

The fans cheer Oklahoma getting fired here tonight on Nitro.

As I was saying. Last night Oklahoma defeated Madusa for the championship and frankly that disgusts me. So therefore as the WCW Commissioner and the man with unlimited and immense power, I am hereby stripping you of that title.

The fans pop for that decision.

Kevin Nash: And as of tonight there will be an eight man, single elimination tournament to crown a new champion at Superbrawl in a few weeks time.

The fans cheer for the tournament being announced.

Kevin Nash: You see its not all bad when the nWo runs the show. Next we have the situation of the WCW U.S Heavyweight title. Jeff I know you were unfairly stripped by the drunken and confused Terry Funk when you received that unfortunate bang to the head. But you wont be getting this title back. I have got better things on the horizon for you my friend.

Jarrett looks perplexed at not being awarded the U.S title.

Kevin Nash: So I would look to announce the brand new WCW U.S Heavyweight Champion. I am sure you guys know who he is...

'Wolfpac' hits and out strolls Scott Hall to a pop from the crowd. Scott Hall has not been seen for several weeks. Scott walks towards Nash and puts up the Wolfpac signal as Nash obliges. Nash hugs Hall before he hands him the microphone.

Scott Hall: Hey Yo.

The fans pop for Scott Hall.

Scott Hall: Ya know that being back in Columbus Ohio with some old friends on Monday Nitro, as well as being the new WCW U.S Heavyweight Champion is just too sweeeeeeeet!!!

Fans cheer Hall and his catchphrase.

Scott Hall: When Big Kev here gave me the call saying he was the new WCW Commissioner and that he wanted to bring me back, I thought to myself, there is no way I am missing out on that chico.

The fans pop for Hall as he begins to strap the U.S title around his waist. He slaps hands with Steiner and Jarrett as he takes his position in the nWo once again.

Kevin Nash: I would like to say welcome back to my best friend and thank you for those kind words Scotty. Now we move onto further business, Jeff Jarrett you missed out on facing Chris Benoit last night at Souled Out due to a concussion that you suffered. So due to this unfortunate event, and the fact that you got unfairly stripped of the WCW U.S Heavyweight Championship. I have made the executive decision to make you the brand new number one contender for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. And Jeff, you will be getting the first shot at Benoit in the Main Event at Superbrawl.

Jarrett looks elated as he gets himself a world title shot. Jarrett taunts the crowd as they boo him, he turns and shakes Kevin Nash's hand.

Kevin Nash: So Benoit you will be taking on Jarrett at Superbrawl one on one after you managed to side step the Chosen One last night at Souled Out.

The new WCW World Champion Chris Benoit has a microphone in the ring and walks forward to the head of the crowd. He gets a nice pop from the crowd in attendance as he begins to speak.

Chris Benoit: Nash you can book me in any kind of match you know I am not going to back down from a fight. Last night I fulfilled my destiny and won my first world title, and I am not letting that go any time soon. Now Jarrett, I crippled your ass a few weeks ago with my diving head butt off the top of that steel cage. And I am fixing to do that once again in a few weeks time. That’s if you even make it to Superbrawl

The fans cheer for the WCW Champion Benoit. Benoit hands the microphone to Sid Vicious who looks irate.

Sid Vicious: Kevin, as far as I am concerned I should have the next shot at Chris Benoit and his title belt at Superbrawl. Last night at Souled Out it was clear to see that my foot was under the ropes when Benoit made me submit to the crippler cross face. So Nash you give me what I deserve.

Benoit shoots a look of disgust at Sid's words.

Kevin Nash: Or what Sid huh? What are you going to do? You think you deserve a shot? I will give you something. The blind old man Arn Anderson did miss that last night and I do believe your foot was under the ropes when you gave up. But do you really deserve a title shot? I don’t think so Sid.

Sid Vicious: That’s what I deserve Kevin and you know it. How about I come up there and take it?

The fans pop for this.

Kevin Nash: Woah woah woah big guy lets just count to ten and calm it down. You come out here demanding title shots and thinking that you deserve an opportunity, you see thats not what the new WCW is about. The WCW with the nWo is far company where everyone gets the rightful opportunity they deserve.

Nash raises an eyebrow as to indicate he doesnt even believe what he is saying.

Kevin Nash: But seeing as you seem so determined to get yourself hurt tonight Sid, how about we have ourselves a little match up. Hmm how about you go up against both the Harris Boys in a handicap match. If you get yourself through that tonight then how about we make Superbrawl a three way dance for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. But if you lose, which you will, then you wont receive a title shot for the next calendar year.

Sid Vicious: I still like my chances Nash. Both the Harris Boys tonight are going to find out why they call me the master and the ruler of the world.

The fans cheer Sid as he gets himself a match tonight.

Kevin Nash:See you in hell Sid. Now one last thing, everyone in this stinking arena needs to realise that the New World Order are running the show!!!

The fans boo Nash and his band of merry men as we go to a commercial break.

Commercial break

We come back from the break and we see Elizabeth and Lex Luger in the backstage area. Liz is tending to her hair and looks very upset with something.

Elizabeth: Lex, did you see what Kimberley just did to me in the catering area. Out of nowhere she blind sided me and started pulling my hair.

Lex Luger: She did what? She assaulted you? Tell me everything.

Elizabeth: Yeah like a mad woman. I think she’s damaged my neck in the process.

Luger examines Elizabeth’s neck as he gets increasingly more angry.

Lex Luger: I will speak to Page about this, I am sure we can sort this.

The camera pans away to the ring as Luger tends to Elizabeth who is clearly not that hurt.

~ There's a Revolution coming ~

'Revolution' hits as the Franchise Shane Douglas leads out his troops to the ring. Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn follow close behind him in there wrestling gear. They climb into the ring as Douglas has a mic.

Shane Douglas: Cut our music. Now all you pukes better sit down shut up and listen to the Franchise.

Cheap heat for Douglas.

Shane Douglas: Last night we took care of the Filthy Animals once and for good with the addition of the newest member of the Revolution. I would like to introduce him to all of you cockroaches right now. He was the man who took out little Billy Kidman with a devastating chokeslam. Here is, the Wall!!!

'Revolution' hits as The Wall strides out to the ring with his suit on and gets booed by the crowd.

Shane Douglas: The newest member of Revolution is pumped and ready to go tonight but me and the big man here are going to sit at ringside and take a night off, and watch Malenko and Saturn take apart the Varsity Club.

Douglas laughs maniacally as him and the Wall leave the ring.

David Penzer: Introducing their opponents, representing the Varsity Club, Mike Rotunda and the Dog Faced Gremlin, Rick Steiner.

The Varsity Club make their way to the ring for this tag match up.

Match three

The Revolution (Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko) with Shane Douglas and The Wall Vs The Varsity Club (Mike Rotunda and Rick Steiner).

The two teams have a very stiff contest with all four men going back and forth. The finish sees The Wall battling with Rick Steiner on the arena floor as Dean Malenko and Saturn double team Rotunda. Malenko slaps on the Texas Cloverleaf for the submission victory after a hard fought match up.

Winner: The Revolution (Perry Satun and Dean Malenko)
Match time: 5.31

All four members of the Revolution put the boots to the two members of the Varsity members before clearing them of the ring. The four men stand tall as the fans boo the Revolution once again.

The camera pans backstage to where Vampito is walking and heading towards the ringside area. The camera then head to the New World Order Locker Room. All four men seemed relaxed as they lounge in chairs and sofas.

Kevin Nash: So no Terry Funk tonight then huh guys?

Nash laughs as the nWo boys smile.

Scott Hall: I guess not big guy. You did do a number on him last night Kev. That Jacknife through the chairs, amazing chico.

Hall sucks up to Nash as he pats him on the shoulder.

Kevin Nash: Why thank you Scott. I am glad that old man is done and finished with WCW. Steiner you want to go out there and take someone out tonight?

Scott Steiner: I don’t mind who I face but whoever it is will be taken apart limb from limb. I might just go out there and issue an open challenge to any of these bitches in the back. How about that?

Jeff Jarrett: I think that’s a great idea Scotty. Give the people what they want. Kevin, I have a little proposition for you. We all know Sid wont get through the Harris Boys tonight, so my attention is all about Chris Benoit. Do you mind if I pick him an opponent for next week live on Nitro?

Kevin Nash: That sounds like a brilliant idea Jeff. You make that announcement next week and we can put Benoit in one hell of a match. He might even have to forfeit the title next week.

The nWo continue to keep rubbing each others egos as the camera pans to a break.

Commercial break

We come back from the break to the ringside area.

David Penzer: This is the next contest tonight, introducing first from Munich Germany, Berlyn.

Berlyn makes his way to the ring and grabs the microphone.

Berlyn: You know what? I am sick and ze tired of being zis character Berlyn. You people givez me no respect. I always have been and always will be Alex Wright the greatest wrestler to ever come out of my native country of Germany.

The fans boo Berlyn as he begins to take off his Berlyn ring gear and fake sideburns. Berlyn has transformed back into his former guise as Alex Wright right in front of our eyes.

Alex Wright: So Vampiro get down here rightz now!!

David Penzer: And his opponent, from the depths of hell, he is the Dark Angel Vampiro.

Match four

Alex Wright Vs 'The Dark Angel' Vampiro

These two young stars put on a brilliant back and forth match up. Alex Wright hits a top rope missile drop kick which gets a long two count. Wright goes for his finisher the German Suplex but Vampiro blocks it and hits the Nail in the Coffin for the three count. The fans show there appreciation for the match up by cheering both men.

Winner: The Dark Angel Vampiro.
Match time: 6.32

Vampiro celebrates on the ramp way as we head backstage to Gene Okerlund who is standing by with the new WCW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit.

~ New WCW World Champion, the Canadian Crippler ~

Gene Okerlund: I would like to give my congratulations to my guest at this time. The new WCW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit.

Chris Benoit: Thank you Gene it means a lot.

Gene Okerlund: Last night Chris you defeated Sid Vicious in the middle of the ring to win your first WCW World Title. What are your feelings on this?

Chris Benoit: You know Gene, all my career I have been working towards becoming the best in the world and last night I achieved that goal. I reached the top of this sport and finally got the acclaim from my peers as the best in ring wrestler on this planet.

Gene Okerlund: You must feel on top of the world right now Chris?

Chris Benoit: I do Gene I really do. But you know what? I cant sit here and take a break because the rest of the guys in the locker room aren’t going to let up. I already have my first opponent for my title in Jeff Jarrett. The New World Order are not going to rest until they have this championship back. And I am not going to give it up any time soon.

Gene Okerlund: Sid Vicious has a chance to be involved in the title match at Superbrawl. He has to face the Harris Brothers tonight in the main event. How do you feel about Sid getting another chance at the belt?

Chris Benoit: Sid is a worthy challenger and is one of the better big men in the company. Last night I made him submit but there’s a lot of talk that his foot was under the bottom rope at the time. I haven’t seen the replay personally but I know I would happily step into the ring with him and go toe to toe with him for this belt in the future.

Benoit shakes Genes hand as he walks off.

~ Master and Ruler ~

Sid Vicious: Tonight I have to face both Ron and Don, the Harris Brothers. You see I don’t think I should be facing these two tonight in the Main Event due to what happened last night at Souled Out. But as the master and ruler of the world, I will quite happily run right through both men. Then I will move on to Superbrawl where I will take care of Jeff Jarrett, and then take the WCW World Title from Chris Benoit.

Sid stares into the camera with pure intensity on his face.

Sid Vicious: Tonight Ron and Don you will be met with ruthless aggression and pain like you have never felt before. I am fixing to powerbomb you both, straight, to hell!!!!

Sid begins to laugh as both his hands grab his head. The cameras pan back to ringside.

Commercial break

We come back from the commercial break to the announcers at ringside.

Tony Schiavone: What a Nitro we have had so far gentleman.

Mike Tenay: Off the back of Souled Out we are already moving towards our next pay per view at Superbrawl in impressive style.

Bobby Hennan: The New World Order are well and truly running the show guys. Kevin Nash and his boys are running rough shot over this great company once more. Nash did some make some interesting points in the nWo wrestling address I may add.

Tony Schiavone: He certainly did Brain. Oklahoma is stripped of the WCW Cruiserweight title and we have a tournament to crown a new champion. Chavo has already advanced in that. We have a new U.S Champion in the returning Scott Hall as well as Sid Vicious taking on both the Harris Boys in a handicap match in our main event tonight.

Mike Tenay: Lets not forget guys about Jeff Jarrett being named as the number one contender for WCW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit's title at Superbrawl.

Tony Schiavone: What a night guys. But up next, I hear the psychotic and the aggressive Scott Steiner is on his way to the ring.

'Rockhouse' hits as Scott Steiner comes out to the ring in street clothes with a led pipe. He snatches a microphone from ringside as he begins to speak. Before Steiner can open his mouth he gets booed and screamed at by the fans in the arena tonight.

Scott Steiner: You fans better shut the hell up right now as I have a few things I have to say.

More boos for Steiner. Steiner loses his temper already and goes down to the arena floor and gets in the face of several fans in the front row at ringside. Steiner eventually backs away and gets back into the ring.

Scott Steiner: I would kick your ass boy then I would take your woman just like that.

More boos as Steiner signals out a fan in the crowd.

Scott Steiner: Enough of you stupid red necks. I am out here because I am pissed off with the fact that I have got a reputation as a loose cannon who cannot control his anger. You see all you pussies and bitches in the back know that I am the genetic freak and I am the most dominant man in World Championship Wrestling right now. So I am out here to issue an open challenge to anyone in the back to come out here and face me one on one.

'Filthy Dirty' hits as Konnan of the Filthy Animals makes his way down to the ring.

Match seven

Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner Vs Konnan

Steiner charges at Konnan as soon as the bell rings and jumps Konnan. He begins to dominate the match and nearly clotheslines K-Dawg out of his boots. Steiner throws Konnan throw the ropes and to the arena floor. He follows him out to the floor and begins to pummel Konnan repeatedly with right hands. Steiner rolls Konnan back in and drills him with several suplexes. Steiner finishes with a big t-bone suplex which seems to stun Konnan. Steiner locks in the Steiner Recliner and Konnan passes out from the pain.

Winner: Scott Steiner
Match time: 2.35

Scott Steiner gets his hand raised as the fans boo the nWo member. He has shown Konnan right here tonight what he is all about. Steiner grabs his led pipe from ringside and nails Konnan a couple of times before heading to the locker rooms.

If Sid loses he will not receive a WCW World Title shot for a calendar year. Introducing first, Heavy D and Big Ron, the Harris Boys.

The Harris Boys make their out to the ring as they get a poor reaction from the crowd.

David Penzer: And their opponents in this handicap match, here is Sid Vicious.

'Master and Ruler' hits as Big Sid makes his way to the ring.

Main Event

Harris Brothers (Ron and Don) Vs Sid Vicious.

Sid starts it off with Ron Harris as these two big men slug it out. Sid takes the early advantage in this handicap match up. Ron and Don perform the old switcheroo half way through the match and the Harris Boys begin to dominate Sid. Sid battles back and knocks Ron through the ropes with a big boot. He then turns his attention to Don who he begins to dominate. Don tries in vain to get some offence in but Sid is too big and strong.

Sid nails Don with a chokeslam and gets a two count. Ron climbs onto the apron and tries to distract Sid but gets drilled with a stiff forearm shot to the face which knocks him back down to the arena floor. Sid turns around and begins to work over Don once more. He lifts Don up to his feet and then drops Big Don with a Powerbomb which gives him the victory.

Winner: Sid Vicious
Match time: 5.49

Sid is now in the Main Event at Superbrawl for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Sid gets his hand raised by referee Billy Silverman. Out from the backstage area comes the Chosen One Jeff Jarrett who charges into the ring to attack Sid

It soon turns into a three on one fight as the Harris Boys join Jarrett in beating down Sid. Chris Benoit has seen enough as he joins the fray. He nails Ron with a right hand and chops Don hard in the chest. Sid battles back and takes both Harris Boys over the top rope with a double clothesline. Benoit hits a clothesline on Jarrett and follows it up with a suplex. Jarrett rolls to the arena floor to join the Harris Boys as Benoit and Sid stand tall in the ring.

The fans cheer for Sid and Benoit as they have fought of Jeff Jarrett and the Harris Brothers. Jeff Jarrett grabs a microphone from ringside.

Jeff Jarrett: Chris Benoit listen up slapnuts. You want to get involved in mine and the Harris Boys's business. Then you will have hell to pay. Big Sexy Kevin Nash said I would be able to put you in a match next week on Nitro . Well how about Benoit you go one on one with your new best friend Sid Vicious next week. How about that?

Wrestlezone news and notes

~ There seems to be a bit more optimism backstage as of late in WCW. While sending home both Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara could have been seen as a backwards step, it seems to have been a positive one for the time being. A booking committee took charge of the latest episode of Nitro and the higher ups as well as the fans seemed pleased with there efforts. The committee is consisting of Ric Flair, Tony Schiavone, Terry Taylor and some input from Kevin Nash. With nobody in place to actually make the final decision regarding the future guidance of creative, there is ongoing discussions for a figure head to take over in the coming weeks. ~

~ The WWF continues to dominate in the Monday Night Wars. Raw achieved a 5.95 and Nitro received a 3.0 rating for Monday night. WCW insiders are hoping that bringing some stability to there product along with pushing younger stars could help them reclaim some of the share of the audience. ~

~ The World Wrestling Federation are building up to the Royal Rumble in six days where Triple H will defend his WWF Championship against Cactus Jack as well as the Rumble match itself. Backstage reports suggest that either the Rock or the Big Show will be the final man standing in the match and head into Wrestlemania. ~

~ Former ECW World Heavyweight Champion Taz is set to sign for the WWF in the coming days. People are speculating that he could appear at the Royal Rumble in his debut. ~

~ Paul Heyman has spoken privately regarding the financial state of ECW and there are several rumours that some of the higher paid talents may need to move on to make sure they balance their books in the coming months. Both Taz and the Dudleys are WWF bound and it seems like a lot of the other talent will need to sign for either WCW or the WWF. Watch this space. ~

We see brief clips of the nWo wrestling address with the return of Scott Hall as the new WCW U.S Heavyweight Champion. Chavo Guerrero Jr winning his first round match in the WCW Cruiserweight Title tournament. The last caption sees the finish of last weeks Nitro with WCW Champion Chris Benoit staring down Sid Vicious, after Jeff Jarrett announced they would go one on one onn tonight’s show.

The camera pans around the arena as we see the usual pyro and fireworks going off. We finish off at the commentary table were Mike Tenay, Tony Schiavone and Bobby Hennan are standing by.

Tony Schiavone: Welcome to WCW Monday Nitro. Tonight we have a jam packed show with some of the best wrestling action you will find anywhere on the planet.

Mike Tenay: Last weeks Nitro came off the back of Souled Out and tonight we continue building towards Superbrawl in four weeks time. There’s already some breaking news regarding tonight’s show. The Hardcore Legend Terry Funk is in the arena tonight.

Bobby Hennan: That’s definitely something the New World Order and Kevin Nash will be interested to know about guys.

Mike Tenay: What kind of ramifications does that have for the nWo? Terry Funk is back after being beaten by Kevin Nash at Souled Out, and I am sure he will have something to say tonight.

Tony Schiavone: We also have plenty more on tonight’s show. In the Main Event Sid Vicious will be taking on new WCW World Champion Chris Benoit in a non title match up. Last week Jeff Jarrett who is involved in a three way dance with both Benoit and Sid at Superbrawl. He came out and announced that due to his friendship with WCW Commissioner Kevin Nash he had set this match up for tonight.

Mike Tenay: A huge Main Event for Nitro right here tonight. As well as the continuation of the Cruiserweight Title Tournament, its all coming up here tonight on Nitro. But first we are heading to David Penzer for our opening contest.

The cameras pan to the ring where David Penzer is standing by.

David Penzer: Ladies and gentleman this is your opening contest tonight. Already in the ring at this time accompanied by Daffney and David Flair, he is one half of the WCW World Tag Team Champions, Crowbar.

Crowbar smiles and waves at the crowd with a sick look on his face.

David Penzer: And his opponent, representing the Mamalukes and accompanied to the ring by Big Vito and Disco Inferno, here is Johnny The Bull.

'Speak Softly Love' hits as the Mamalukes make their way out to the ring to a spread of cheers from the crowd.

Match one

These two young men have a very competitive back and forth match up. Johnny the Bull uses his strength to suplex and throw Crowbar around the ring. Crowbar manages to capitalise on a mistake from Johnny the Bull after he tried a high risk move off the top rope. Crowbar picks the Bull up from the mat and hits a falling inverted DDT to pick up the victory.

Winner: Crowbar
Match time: 4.23

David Flair joins Crowbar in the ring as the Disco Inferno and Big Vito also enter the fray. There’s a mass brawl between the five men with neither team getting the upper hand. Daffney meanwhile climbs to the top rope and comes off with a jumping hurricanrana onto Disco which the fans pop for. Crowbar and Flair get rid of the Mamalukes as they clear the ring. The three loonies stand tall in the ring as the Italians regroup on the entrance way. The cameras pan backstage to The Total Package Lex Luger and Elizabeth who are both wheeling in small suitcases, having just arrived in the arena.

~ The Package arrives ~

Lex Luger: Elizabeth don't worry I will speak to DDP about what Kimberley tried to pull last week.

Elizabeth: Lex, I am not having her getting away with this. I want her to be dealt with accordingly. She shouldn’t have put her hands on me like that last week.

Lex Luger: I will speak to Page later tonight. I will get this sorted Liz.

The two of them continue heading towards their locker room as the Package announces he will be speaking to DDP later tonight. The camera pans away from this discussion to the outside of the arena.

~ nWo is riding in style tonight ~

A limousine pulls up as the New World Order have arrived at the arena. The U.S Heavyweight Champion Scott Hall, the Chosen One Jeff Jarrett, Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner and WCW Commissioner Kevin Nash leave the limos with a couple of young women in tow. They all look supremely happy with the way they have arrived at the arena tonight. Plenty of hand shakes and stroking of egos happen as they head towards the arena.

As they make their way to the door they are stopped by the nWo security, the Harris Boys.

Ron Harris: Guys I know you have just arrived but have you heard who’s here tonight?

Kevin Nash: Ron my good man, as you can see we have just arrived in this hell hole of a city. So no, we do not know who is here. Please enlighten myself and my good friends.

Don Harris: Terry Funk is here Kev.

Scott Hall: I thought you finished his ass at the pay per view big guy?

Kevin Nash: So did I. Looks like we have got some business to deal with then boys. Lets get to it.

The nWo contingent don't like quite as impressed as they were a few moments ago as they have learnt that Terry Funk is in the arena tonight.

Commercial break

We come back from the break and David Penzer is in the ring ready to introduce the next contest here tonight live on Monday Nitro.

David Penzer: This is a first round match up in the WCW Cruiserweight Title tournament. This will culminate at Superbrawl. Introducing first from Tokyo Japan, Kaz Hayashi.

An asian style tune plays as Kaz Hayashi makes his way towards the ring area.

David Penzer: And his opponent representing the Filthy Animals, he is Rey Mysterio Junior.

'Dirty Filthy' hits as Rey comes out to the ring to a good pop from the crowd in attendance.

Match two

WCW Cruiserweight Title Tournament round one: Kaz Hayashi Vs Rey Mysterio Jr.

Kaz and Rey lock up as this match kick starts at a fast pace. Both men go back and forth in the early goings with neither man gaining the upper hand. Kaz hits a running suicide dive through the ropes to the arena floor which takes Rey down. Back in the ring and Kaz begins to take the advantage. He goes up top and tries to jump off but Rey cuts him off and crotches him on the top turn buckle. Rey goes up to join him and hits a top rope Frankensteiner off the top for the win.

Winner: Rey Mysterio Jr
Match time: 5.49

Rey Mysterio Jr has qualified for the semi finals of the WCW Cruiserweight Title tournament here tonight. He picks up a good victory against his Japanese opponent. The cameras pan backstage as Rey gets his hand raised by Mickey Jay.

We head backstage as Mean Gene Okerlund is standing by with the Disco Inferno and the Mamalukes.

Gene Okerlund: Mamalukes you requested this interview time tonight, what's on your mind?

Disco Inferno: The three loonies that attacked us in the ring earlier tonight are on our minds Gene. David Flair and Crowbar you have the WCW World Tag Team titles, and my boys, Big Vito and Johhny The Bull want to get their hands on the gold. But that little screaming skank Daffney put her nose were it doesn’t belong.

Big Vito: Geno, last week I took care of David Flair and tonight Johnny got screwed over by those psychos. So next week, seeing as Daffney wants to get involved. How about a little six person tag team match, Sicilian style. We will see you three punks next week where we will be taking you out for good!!

The Mamalukes and Disco leave the backstage area looking intense and pissed off. A slightly different approach from recent weeks for these three men.

The cameras pan backstage were Terry Funk is walking and he’s accompanied by the enforcer Double A, Arn Anderson. These two are heading to the ring right now!

Commercial break

~ Oh you didn't know (Old Age Outlaws) ~

'Fistful' hits as the hardcore legend Terry Funk and the enforcer Arn Anderson stride out to the ring with a good pop from the crowd. Funk takes a microphone from ringside as these two legends get ready to speak.

Terry Funk: A couple of weeks ago at Souled Out I lost the control and the leadership of this company. That big oaf Kevin Nash beat me at my own game in a hardcore match. He took the WCW Commissioner position away from me and I have come out here tonight to tell all these fans out here and sitting at home, I am sorry.

The fans cheer for Funk.

Terry Funk: I should have beaten Kevin Nash at the pay per view and denied the New World Order getting control of this company. But the nWo is a strong group and Nash got the better off me at Souled Out. But tonight I plan on changing what happened a few weeks ago. I spent last week nursing my wounds at home in Amarillo Texas. I was Thinking that I was done with WCW and the professional wrestling business. But during the week I had a phone call from this man right here. Double A, Arn Anderson.

Big cheer for the Enforcer as he holds up the Four fingers singling for the Horsemen in the ring.

Terry Funk: This man called me up and said Terry, WCW needs you now more than ever. The New World Order is running wild once again and we need Terry Funk to come back and take them on like he has been for the last several weeks. So tonight, I have come back and I intend on making the New World Orders lives, living hell. So Nash, Hall and all the rest of you get out here, cos I am fixing on kicking your asses, tonight!!

Funks screams those last few words as the fans cheer for Funk once more.

'Rockhouse' hits as the Commissioner Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner with his led pipe and Scott Hall come out to the stage.

Kevin Nash: Well well well, if it isn’t the old age outlaws once again. I thought I had retired your ass at Souled Out Funk. And Arn, your so old and broken down I am surprised that you could even climb into that ring tonight.

The fans boo Nash as he mocks Terry Funk.

Terry Funk: You'll have to kill me before I am retiring Nash.

Kevin Nash: Well by the end of the night. Lets see if we can't make that happen. You want us so badly, you got it Terry.

Nash drops the mic as the nWo begin to charge the ring. Anderson and Funk get a few shots in and have the upper hand but the New World Order's three against two soon takes its toll. Steiner and Hall are pummelling Anderson in the corner as Nash lays into Funk with right hands and big knee lifts in the centre of the ring.

Nash levels Funk with a big boot as Steiner begins to nail Anderson in the gut repeatedly with his steel pipe. Steiner picks up a beaten Anderson and holds his arms behind his back as Nash takes shot after shot. Anderson slumps to his knees as Steiner carries on holding him. Hall kicks Funk while he lies slumped in the corner and holds his boot across the Funkers throat to keep him grounded. Now all three nWo members begin to assault the defenceless Arn Anderson. Nash gets hold of the led pipe and drills Anderson right between the eyes. Anderson falls forward face first on the mat. The nWo stand tall as Terry Funk screams out in anguish at the sight of his fallen friend. A trickle of blood covers the mat as Anderson has been busted open.

Steiner lifts the lifeless and bloodied Anderson up and puts him between Nash's legs. Nash mocks Anderson as Hall goes back to work on Funk in the corner. Nash picks Anderson high up into the air and drops him nearly head first with a vicious Jacknife Powerbomb.

The New World Order stand over the bloodied and beaten Arn Anderson as Terry Funk is still lying in the corner of the ring. Kevin Nash grabs a microphone from ringside as he looks down at the damage the nWo has caused.

Kevin Nash: See what happens Funk when you try and come up against the New World Order. This is what happens old man.

Steiner lifts up the lifeless and bloody head of Arn Anderson who is unconscious so that Nash can inspect his handy work.

Kevin Nash: This is the only friend you had left in WCW and he’s done for. Looks like its just you Terry, all alone once more. Scotty give him the recliner.

Scott Steiner picks up his led pipe and begins to put on the Steiner Recliner with the steel pipe across Anderson's throat. Terry Funk looks over with his last bit of energy.

Kevin Nash: WCW, the New World Order is running the show. And Terry Funk if you show up again on our show. This is exactly what will happen to you. Tonight we finished the Old Age Outlaws and Funk the next time we see you, your going the same way as Double A here.

Steiner drops the hold on Anderson and out from the back come Chris Benoit, Sid Vicious and a host of other wrestlers. The New World Order bail from the ring and begin to make their way to the back. They just assaulted and most probably ended Arn Anderson's career live on Nitro. Terry Funk was helpless as he was lying only feet away after taking a beating himself. EMT's and trainers come out from the back to join the wrestlers helping Arn and Terry. Both men are being tended to as we go to a commercial break.

Commercial break

Tony Schiavone: Ladies and gentleman welcome back to Nitro. What we saw before the commercial break was an absolutely horrific assault delivered by the New World Order. Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner and Scott Hall just attacked and took out both Terry Funk and Arn Anderson.

Mike Tenay: I hear from the back that Arn Anderson has regained consciousness but has been rushed to a local hospital due to the injuries he received from the nWo. Lets take a look at what just transpired.

We see footage of moments ago of the heinous assault on Arn Anderson that left him bloodied and beaten in the middle of the ring. We then see Terry Funk go in the ambulance with Arn Anderson on their way to the hospital.

Bobby Hennan: It was one of the most brutal moments in WCW history. The New World Order really proved there vicious side tonight with that beat down. I doubt Terry Funk will want to show his face again on Monday Nitro after what happened to Arn tonight.

Tony Schiavone: I am shocked guys. We are heading backstage to Gene Okerlund who is with WCW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit.

The commentators look dejected as we head backstage.

Gene Okerlund: Chris Benoit, moments ago we just one of the most brutal attacks in Monday Nitro's history as the nWo took out both Terry Funk and Arn Anderson. What are your thoughts on this beating?

Chris Benoit: Its sickening Gene and it just proves how dangerous the nWo are. It happened so quickly that none of the boys could get out there quick enough to help them in time. Arn Anderson is a dear friend and one of the toughest guys I know and I am sure he will be back at some stage. But as of right now I am fully focussed on tonight’s match up with Sid Vicious. Sid I respect you for what you have done in this company and in the business. And when it comes to it I will stand side by side with you against the New World Order. But tonight its me and you one on one. Let the better man win Sid.

Benoit leaves the interview area looking fired up for tonight’s match up. The cameras pan to ringside as we go to our next match up.

David Penzer: This is your next contest here tonight on Monday Nitro. Introducing first from Harlem New York, Big T and Stevie Ray, they are Harlem Heat.

'Flames' hit's as the new Harlem Heat come out to boos from the crowd.

David Penzer: And their opponents, the team of Midnight and Booker T.

'Flames' hits once more but this time it is met with cheers as Booker and Midnight stride toward the ring.

Match three

Harlem Heat (Stevie Ray and Big T) Vs Booker T and Midnight.

Booker attacks Big T before the bell even rings as he seems fired up for this one. Booker is all over Big T to start the match as the fans cheer him. Big T rolls to the outside after taking the early beating. Harlem Heat regroup on the arena floor before Big T comes back into the ring. Booker goes after him again and takes the advantage once again. Booker tags in Midnight who comes in with rights and lefts for Big T. Midnight shows off her impressive strength by scoop slamming Big T. Big T tags into Stevie Ray as the momentum of the match changes. Harlem Heat begin to work over Midnight as they begin to wear her down. Midnight eventually gets the hot tag into Booker who comes in like a house on fire. He goes after both members of Harlem Heat.

Booker tags Midnight back in who has recovered from the earlier beat down. Booker goes after Big T on the floor as the fight continues. Midnight is all over Stevie Ray with rights and lefts. Referee Charles Robinson is distracted by the fight on the floor and he takes his eyes of Stevie Ray for a few seconds. This gives Ray time to knock Midnight out with the Slapjack he had concealed in his trunks. Ray covers as Robinson turns around to make the count.

Winners: Harlem Heat
Match time: 4.18

Harlem Heat steal the victory as Stevie Ray has knocked Midnight out with the Slapjack. Booker slides back into the ring to tend to Midnight as Harlem Heat smile and celebrate on the ramp way. This feud is far from over as the Heat pick up the cheap victory here tonight.

Commercial break

We come back from the break and see more replays from earlier in the night. Arn Anderson getting taken out by the New World Order. We then head back to ring side as we have another match.

David Penzer: This next contest is a hardcore match. Introducing first accompanied to the ring by WCW Hardcore Champion Brian Knobbs. He is Fit Finlay.

Finlay makes his way out alongside Brian Knobbs as the two men get booed from the crowd.

David Penzer: And from Asbury Park New Jersey his opponent is Bam Bam Bigelow.

Bam Bam makes his way to the ring with handfuls of hardcore plunder in his hands.

Match four

Hardcore rules: Fit Finlay with Brian Knobbs Vs Bam Bam Bigelow.

Finlay and Bigelow begin to slug it out as this stiff hardcore match gets under way. Plenty of weapons are used as these two brawlers get very physical and violent. Knobbs doesn't get involved too much as these two physical wrestlers go back and forth.

Finlay uses a steel trash can to work over Bigelow as he gets the advantage mid way through the match up. Bigelow comes back with a kendo stick which he waffles Finlay repeatedly with. He then proceeds to climb to the top rope and comes off with his signature diving head butt for a two count. The two men go back and forth for several more moments as Finlay tries to finish off Bigelow with a Tombstone Piledriver but Bigelow slides out of it and hits the Greetings from Asbury Park for the hard fought victory.

Winner: Bam Bam Bigelow
Match time: 5.04

Bigelow celebrates in the aisle way and signals to Knobbs that he is coming after him next. Knobbs helps Finlay as he looks on at Bigelow who is back peddling up the ramp. The cameras head backstage to the nWo locker room.

~ A happy nWo ~

Jeff Jarrett: You boys sure did a number on Funk and Anderson earlier on.

Kevin Nash: Funk and his little side kick have been putting their noses in our business for too long. I thought I had ended it at Souled Out, but apparently not. This is my show, the nWo's show and I cant be dealing with those two trying to meddle in our plans. Anderson will be on the shelf for a long time, there are no questions there. Steiner may have broken his windpipe with that Recliner. And if Funk has any brain cells left whatsoever, he wont show his old beat up face round here ever again.

Scott Steiner: I couldn't care less what happened to Arn Anderson. That little bastard deserves all he gets, and tonight we showed him what the New World Order is all about.

Scott Hall: You should have seen Funks face when the big guy dropped Arn with that Jacknife. It was priceless Jeff, you missed out chico.

Jeff Jarrett: Sounds like I did boys. But tonight I have got more important business to attend to. Benoit and Sid one on one. I think I might take a little seat at ringside and produce a little bit of color while those two go at it.

Kevin Nash: Sounds like a brilliant plan Jeff. Think the rest of us are going to kick back and enjoy the rest of the show. We have certainly had our fun this evening. Girls I think we will need some refreshments now.

Nash beckons to the several skanky women who are in attendance with The New World Order tonight to get some beers from a fridge. They seem very pleased with their handy work so far this evening as Jarrett will be on commentary during tonight’s Main Event.

Commercial break

We come back from the break and we are backstage with Sid Vicious who is sitting in his locker room on a steel chair.

Sid Vicious: Chris Benoit tonight we meet one on one once again. I know you are one of the best technical wrestlers on the planet today. I know that first hand after the meetings we have had recently, but tonight I have my return match from Souled Out, this time its not for the title. But tonight I prove why I am in the title match at Superbrawl. I am going to defeat you tonight Benoit, then at the pay per view I will do it once again with the title on the line. Jeff Jarrett I hear you want to come down and do some commentary during our match up. If you try and get involved I am going to powerbomb you straight to hell.

Sid stands up from the steel chair and walks away from the camera. We move back to ringside as we go to ringside to the commentators.

Tony Schiavone: Sid Vicious there with some very focussed words ahead of his match up with Chris Benoit later on tonight.

Mike Tenay: He seems determined to get a victory tonight ahead of Superbrawl. He will be looking for some important momentum from the Main Event.

Bobby Hennan: What a Nitro its been tonight guys. I hear you have some news on Terry Funk and Arn Anderson Mike?

Mike Tenay: I do Bobby. Terry hasn’t suffered any severe injuries but has received a few stitches above his right eye. Arn Anderson is having a head scan as we speak after suffering a concussion due to the led pipe shot he received earlier on this evening. Our thoughts are with the enforcer and we all hope he hasn’t sustained any lasting damage.

Tony Schiavone: Good to hear he regained consciousness on his way to hospital and I am sure Arn will be okay. I am still disgusted at the attack he sustained from the nWo. But now we are heading to the ring for the next contest tonight here live on Nitro. Take it away David Penzer.

The cameras pan to Penzer who is ready and waiting.

David Penzer: This is your next contest tonight on Monday Nitro. Introducing first, accompanied to ring side by his wife Kimberley. He is Diamond Dallas Page.

DDP gets a great reaction from the crowd as 'Self High Five' comes over the speakers.

David Penzer: And his opponent, The KISS Demon.

The Demons music hits as he appears from his metal coffin and heads to the ring.

Match five

DDP with Kimberley Vs The KISS Demon.

DDP lays in with quick punches to start and the Demon backs off and cannot seem to compete with DDP. DDP goes for an early Diamond Cutter but gets reversed and clotheslined to the mat. The Demon takes control of the match and starts to work over Page. The Demon suplexes DDP then goes up top and comes of the top turn buckle with a diving clothesline which he gets a two count for. The Demon sets up for his love gun finishing move but DDP reverses it with a discuss clothesline. He follows it up with a Diamond Cutter for the three count and the victory.

Winner: Diamond Dallas Page
Match time: 2.31.

Kimberley climbs into the ring to join her husband in celebrating his victory tonight. The two of them seem very pleased with this win. Suddenly the Total Package's music blares out over the sound system and here comes Lex Luger and Elizabeth.

They walk down the aisle and climb into the ring. Kimberley and Elizabeth begin to shout abuse at each other straight away. DDP tries to cut off the two women and backs Kimberley away to the corner. While DDP has his back turned he gets jumped from behind with a cheap shot by the Total Package. Lex begins to pummel DDP with right hands and then whips him into the ropes and follows it up with a big clothesline. Luger then lifts DDP up and puts him in the Torture Rack for several moments as the fans in attendance boo Luger's cowardly move.

Lex Luger and Liz leave the ring together as Kimberley tends to her fallen husband. This must all stem from last week when Elizabeth and Kimberley had there altercation on Nitro. This seems to be far from over between these two couples. With that we fade to a commercial.

Commercial break

We come back from the break and we see a quick replay from just before the break where it shows Lex Luger with an unprovoked attack on Diamond Dallas Page.

~ Revolution starts here ~

The camera then pans to the backstage area to the locker room of the Revolution. Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn and the Wall stand in the background as the Franchise Shane Douglas takes up the centre of the shot.

Shane Douglas: For too long have the four men in this room been held down and held back by the powers that be and the decision makers in WCW. No more, the Franchise and the Revolution from now on are doing things the right way. We want the recognition that we deserve. I want some real challenges for both this great tag team.

Saturn and Malenko flex for the camera showing some intensity.

Shane Douglas: And for this man right here.

Douglas turns and pats the Wall on the chest as he raises his hand signalling for the choke slam.

Shane Douglas: So from now on. The Revolution is on the march. We are coming after you WCW.

All four men look pumped up as the camera pans back to ringside.

Tony Schiavone: Four fired up and intense individuals there guys. The Franchise has assembled a hell of a stable of wrestlers there.

Bobby Hennan: Two of the finest technical wrestlers in Saturn and Malenko. And that Wall, he's on a different planet guys. Psycho I think is the word.

Mike Tenay:The man with the devastating choke slam. The Revolution is alive and kicking here in World Championship Wrestling. But now for the Main Event guys.

The camera cuts to David Penzer.

David Penzer: Ladies and gentleman this is your Main Event tonight on Nitro.

The fans cheer for the Main Event.

David Penzer: Introducing first, he is the Millennium Man of WCW, here is Sid Vicious.

'Millennium Man' hits and out comes Sid Vicious to cheers from the crowd.

David Penzer: And his opponent in this non title match up. He is the WCW World Heavyweight Champion from Edmonton, Alberta Canada. He is the Crippler, Chris Benoit.

'Too Much Information' hits and here comes the WCW Champion. Benoit comes out looking pumped as the fans cheer and pop for him.

Main Event

Non Title Match: Sid Vicious Vs WCW Champion Chris Benoit

Benoit and Sid circle the ring and slap hands to show a signal of respect for each other. They finally lock up and Sid gains the upper hand with his size and strength. Sid looks psyched up as he pushes the champion to the mat for a second time. Sid moves forward once more and Benoit slaps on a drop toe hold which takes Sid down to the mat and Benoit quickly goes to work to keep the big man down.

Benoit and Sid go back and forth for several minutes with both men having strong periods in the match up. Sid chokeslam's Benoit and gets a long two count. Benoit battles back and hits a big German suplex. Benoit drags his finger across his throat and goes up to the top rope. Benoit comes flying off the top rope and hits a big diving head butt onto Sid Vicious.

Benoit covers Sid but gets a long two count. Both men slowly get back to their feet and begin slugging it out back and forth. Sid gets the upper hand and kicks Benoit in the gut and signals for the Powerbomb. While this happens Jeff Jarrett slides under the bottom rope with his trusty guitar in his hand. Jarrett nails Sid straight over the head with the guitar and knocks him out. The referee rings the bell as this match is thrown out.

Winner: No Contest
Match time: 7.49

Jarrett goes to work on Benoit with several stiff right hands before he nails the champion with the Stroke. Jarrett quickly slides to the arena floor and snatches the WCW World Heavyweight Title from ringside.

Jarrett climbs back into the ring to a sea of bodies and debris. The Chosen One slowly raises the WCW World Championship into the air as the capacity crowd continue to boo. A wide smile comes across Jarrett's face as we fade to black.

Not much to say about the beginning of the show. All of the hype seems to be directed towards the main event which is both a good and bad thing. As long as you keep balance and don’t just start your shows with matches every week then it will be ok. I’m guessing the brawl after the match will lead to a PPV match, or these teams are already set up for a match (sorry first time reviewing this thread).

Interesting Lex segment here. I wonder what the confrontation with DDP will be like. It was kind of on the shorter side but sometimes they need to be.

The nWo arrival is good and shows there swagger and style. But my only question is, if nWo is in such control and they are running the show, why are two non-nWo guys fighting for the heavyweight championship? I think they will be able to deal with Terry Funk easily as well, forgot to mention that.

Kaz/Mysterio- Good win for Mysterio in this match. The top rope frankensteiner is an awesome move. I can see Rey winning this tournament.

The 6 man tag match should be interesting especially with Daffney in it. I hope you don’t give her a major role in the match like getting the winning pinfall or something because that would be bad booking in my opinion.

Funk seems like he is trying to be the WCW savior for the company as he just won’t go down from the nWo fights. As expected they came and attacked the two old guys who are helpless. The end of the promo makes it look very realistic that they are in charge, but I don’t get why they’re not in the world title scene right now.

The Benoit interview was good and made him seem like a dominant figure in the company. I like that he spoke about both the nWo attack and his match with Sid in the main event.

Harlem Heat/Booker and Midnight- It’s interesting to not see Booker T with Stevie Ray, but a cool twist I think. At least Booker didn’t get pinned this match, then he’d look really weak.

Finlay/Bigelow- This would have been an awesome hardcore match to see live. Both men are ruthless and great fighters. Why would Finlay try to use the Tombstone Piledriver though? And it is kind of hard to believe that in a hardcore match Brian Knobbs would not get involved in the match.

I wonder what Jarrett is gonna get into in the main event match. I cant imagine him doing a solo attack on both Sid and Benoit.

The Vicious promo was ok, but I just don’t understand why he would compliment Benoit’s skills. That is not really Sid-esque and kind of takes away the scary heel factor in his character.

DDP/Demon- Nothing to really say, knew DDP was gonna win and knew Luger was gonna come out after. The aftermath doesn’t make a lot of sense, why would DDP turn his back to Luger in the ring, would he just trust him to not attack him even though their valets are arguing?

The Wall is an interesting choice to be in Revolution but I guess he kind of fits the part. I like the inspirational talk by Douglas, it shows the true intentions of all 4 of these men and that is to win matches.

Benoit/Sid- Ehhh, in my opinion this could not have went any worse. It makes both your champion and challenger look really weak if they both get beaten down by a guy who is significantly smaller than both of them (especially Sid). But as expected (just not in this way) the nWo end up on top.

Overall I thought this could have been a lot better. You have a lot of talent clearly, but some of the ideas seem a bit too forced or too crazy to actually happen. Also, I can’t tell if your matches are written in full or if they are summaries. If they are written in full, then I suggest you go back and read some other BTBs for how to write matches because these are just too short. I’ll be reading and reviewing man, keep up the effort.

Thank you for the review DroidHD. Just thought I would answer and respond to a few of your questions and points.

The Mamalukes and David and Crowbar haven't been put into a match at the PPV just yet but it is building to it.

Jeff Jarrett from the nWo is involved in the match at Superbrawl as its a triple threat between Benoit, Sid and Jarrett. It was announced on the first Nitro so I understand how you missed that. Kevin Nash announced that Jarrett would be getting the first title shot against Benoit for the WCW title but Sid defeated the Harris Boys last week to gain entry into the main event at Superbrawl.

Regarding the Finlay Vs Bigelow match, this definitely would have been hard hitting in real life. Finlay used the Tombstone Piledriver as his finishing move in WCW so thats why he tried to use it during the match.

Sid is playing a face character in this thread and he had been for several months in real life. That's why he complimented Benoit and wasn't quite as psychotic as usual.

DDP and Luger go back along way and nothing had actually happened between the two so far in the thread. Liz and Kimberley had a confrontation last week on Nitro which has started this feud. DDP went over to pull the two women apart, not anticapating the attack from Luger.

The Main Event wasn't used to make Benoit and Sid look weak but to try and cause some dissension between the two by having Jarrett attack both men after a reasonably long and hard fought match. Jarrett wanted to work over both his opponents for the upcoming pay per view match so thats why he got involved.

The shows are going to seem a little bit forced and crazy for a little while. In real life Vince Russo was sent home before Souled Out that happened several weeks before. So at the moment nobody is really in control of creative but that will soon change and the direction will hopefully be slightly clearer. The matches and the show as a whole is written in recap. I am not a big fan of writing or reading long matches but I will flesh them out a little bit more on pay per views.

Once again, thank you for the review

Wrestlezone news and notes

~ WWF's Royal Rumble has been deemed a big success after The Rock won his first Rumble match. He eliminated the Big Show last in somewhat controversial fashion. Rock is tipped to face Triple H for the WWF Title at Wrestlemania. Other results from the Pay Per View saw Triple H retain the WWF title against Cactus Jack in a bloody brawl. The New Age Outlaws defeated the Acolytes to retain the WWF Tag Team Titles and Chris Jericho became the undisputed WWF Intercontinental Champion ~

~ WCW gained slightly on last weeks Nitro rating with a 3.2. Raw continued to dominate with a 6.85 rating ~

~ Even though the deal had apparently been signed, former ECW Champion Taz did not make his debut for the WWF at the Royal Rumble. Sources are saying that the two sides are still negotiating a deal. There are several reports that WCW are trying to contact the former ECW Champion about possibly signing for them in a last minute change ~

~ Sources in the WCW camp are stating that after a mid week meeting between senior members of WCW, many of the talent have been advised that soon they may not be required. World Championship Wrestling are setting plans in motion for the coming months and several talents are seen to be expendable. Looking to reduce costs as well as there inflated roster big names such as Lex Luger, Hulk Hogan, Buff Bagwell and even Bret Hart have been discussed to be leaving the company. More on this when we get it ~

WCW Monday Nitro 31/01/00

We see clips from last weeks Nitro in the opening video package. The New World Order assaulting Arn Anderson and sending him from the arena in the back of an ambulance. We also see Jeff Jarrett standing tall at the close of the show as he took out both Sid Vicious and Chris Benoit after the Main Event.

The video finishes and the camera pans around the arena in Wilkes-Barre, PA. We head to ringside were the three man announce team are ready to start off Nitro.

Tony Schiavone: Welcome to WCW Monday Nitro, tonight we are live from Wilkes-Barre. Ladies and gentlemen we have a jam packed show for you all so make sure you stay tuned in.

Mike Tenay: Hello everybody, Tony you are correct, tonights show looks to be massive. The Total Package Lex Luger will be taking on Vampiro in singles action. The Mamalukes and the Disco Inferno will be facing the WCW World Tag Team Champions, David Flair and Crowbar along with Daffney, in a six person intergender tag team match.

Bobby Hennan: Up first we have another first round match up in the Cruiserweight Title tournament. I do enjoy a bit of high flying action to kick start Nitro guys. Take it away Mr Penzer.

The camera pans to the ring where David Penzer is ready and waiting to get the show on the road.

David Penzer: Introducing first in this first round WCW Cruiserweight title tournament match. Accompanied to the ring by fellow members of Three Count. Here is Shane Helms.

'Sing along with Three Count' hits as the three young boy band wannabes come out to the ring. The fans boo the three youngsters as they strut their stuff.

David Penzer: And his opponent from Mexico City he is Juventud Guerrera.

Juventud charges to the ring to cheers from the crowd as he kick starts this match up.

Match one

WCW Cruiserweight Title Tournament Round one: Shane Helms W/Shannon Moore and Evan Karagias Vs Juventud Guerrera.

Shane and Juvi circle the ring as the two men try and size each other up. They lock up and Juvi is in control for the early goings as he uses his speed and agility. Helms takes advantage of the match when he knocks Juvi off the top rope and Juventud falls from the top rope down to the arena floor. The other members of Three Count begin to attack Juventud as Helms distracts the referee in the ring.

Juventud gets rolled back into the ring and Helms continues to go to work. The match continues for several minutes with Juventud battling back. He hits Helms with a spinning heel kick which takes him down. Helms begins to climb to his feet and is on all fours by the ring ropes. Juventud uses this to his advantage. He runs and uses Helms as a spring board to elevate himself up and over the top rope to the arena floor. Juventud takes out both Shannon Moore and Evan Karagias, much to the delight of the crowd.

Back in the ring and Helms misses a super kick which gives Juventud the opportunity to kick him in the gut and hit the Juvi Driver for the three count.

Winner: Juventud Guerrera
Match time: 5.48

The cameras head backstage where we see the New World Order arriving in the arena. Commissioner Nash, The Chosen One Jeff Jarrett, Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner and the WCW U.S Heavyweight Champion Scott Hall. All four men look very happy with themselves as they enter the arena.

Commercial break

We come back from the break and the cameras are inside the New World Orders locker room. Scott Steiner has decided to invite some women to tonights Nitro as they both have two women sitting either side of them.

Kevin Nash: This is going to be a hell of a show boys. Last week after finishing off Double A we will get the chance to end Terry Funks career as well.

Scott Hall: You know Big Kev? That sounds like a brilliant plan. And you know what makes it better? The fact that me and Scotty can kick back and enjoy the delights that these lovely ladies have to offer while you go out there and get the job done.

Scott Hall squeezes both girls in tight to him with a wide smile across his.

Kevin Nash: That does sound like a plan, as long as the girls have some energy left for when I return victorious.

Scott Steiner: You best get it over and done with quick Kevin, because Big Poppa Pump is planning on going all night long and he's not very good at sharing.

Steiner laughs as the Chosen One Jeff Jarrett strides back and forth.

Scott Hall: Yo Jeff, what's wrong bro?

Jeff Jarrett: The fact that I aien't the dubya see dubya World Champion right now. Both big Sid and that slap ass Benoit are still standing in my way. Kev how about a little tag match tonight?

Kevin Nash: Im listening.

Jeff Jarrett: How about Heavy D and Big Ron against Sid and the Crippler in the main event. Ill be the special guest enforcer.

Kevin Nash smiles and looks at Jarrett thoughtfully.

Kevin Nash: That sounds like a brilliant idea Jeff. You deserve a raise my good man, I would take my hat off if I had one. Tonight is going to be one hell of a party boys.

The nWo contingent all make some noise of approval as the camera pans towards the ring.

The camera pans around the fans quickly before finishing on David Penzer.

David Penzer: Introducing at this time The Revolution.

'Revolutionary' hits as Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, The Wall and the leader of the group, the Franchise Shane Douglas. The fans boo the four men as they climb into the ring and Douglas snatches the microphone from Penzer.

Shane Douglas: All you parasites and low lifes need to shut the hell up right now!!!

Cheap heat is activated as the fans boo Douglas.

Shane Douglas: I have something to say tonight and you fans better respect me and let me say my piece. You see for several years now, some of the true talent in this company like the four men standing in this ring. We have been held down over and over again by the politics, the mind games and some of the so called stars of this business.

The fans are mixed to what Douglas has to say.

Shane Douglas: You see the likes of Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and especially Dick Flair have continued to hold down and manipulate the system backstage so that they can keep their spots at the top of WCW. And where are they now? Huh, were are they?

The fans boo as Douglas continues to rip some of the fan favourites.

Shane Douglas: They are off running for presidency and shooting movies in Hollywood. You see the real talent of this company are right here busting their asses night in night out and what do we get for it? We continued to be s**t on!!! Enough is enough, so from now on we will be making all the major plays around here and the Revolution is officially here.

Douglas chucks the microphone to the Wall who steps forward and takes off his sunglasses.

The Wall: When I came in to WCW I was promised that I would be pushed high up the card because I had the size and I had the look. You know what I got given? Nothing, so now after being pushed aside, myself, Shane, Perry and Dean are going to take our shots and our own opportunities. So tonight I want to issue an open challenge to anybody stupid enough in the back to come out here and get chokeslammed straight to hell.

Wall hands the mike to Penzer as the other members of the Revolution leave the ring. There is a slight delay for several moments as we wait for someone to answer the challenge.

Some generic rock music hits and out strolls Tank Abbott to a small reaction from the crowd.

David Penzer: And his opponent. Here is Tank Abbott.

Match two

The Wall with The Revolution Vs Tank Abbott.

Tank charges straight at the Wall when the bell rings as this match kickstarts. Abbott dominates the early goings and gets in some good body shots before slamming the Wall with a slam to the mat. The Wall gets back to his feet but gets clotheslined over the top rope and to the arena floor. Abbott goes out to carry on the attack against the Wall. The Wall grabs a chair from ringside and waffles Abbott in the side of the head and then another shot to the back. The Wall grabs Abbott by the head and rams him head first into the steel ring post which rocks the shoot fighter.

After climbing back into the ring and continuing this match up, Abbott goes for the big right hand but it misses and the Wall locks on the front face lock and hits his signature Chokeslam for the three count.

Winner: The Wall
Match time: 2.35

The Revolution celebrate with the Wall as they continue to march on in World Championship Wrestling. We cut backstage to Diamond Dallas Page who has just arrived in the arena and he looks pissed off about something.

Commercial break

We come back from the break and we are watching DDP continuing to walk around the backstage area. He walks up to several members of staff.

DDP: Have any of you guys seen Lex at all?

Crew member: I saw him earlier this evening leaving the catering area but that was a while ago.

DDP: Okay.

DDP marches off towards the catering area and the cameras continue to follow. He pushes through the canteens door and storms inside screaming for Luger.

DDP: Where are you Lex? Your going to pay for jumping me last week.

Lex Luger are nowhere to be seen as someone speaks up.

Catering assistant: I just saw that Luger was in the next match up.

DDP doesn't answer but just simply smiles and walks away. The cameras pans back inside the arena as we go to David Penzer.

David Penzer: This is our next contest, introducing first from the depths of hell, here is the Dark Angel, Vampiro.

'Destroyer' hits as Vampiro comes out to a good reaction from the crowd.

David Penzer: And his opponent, accompanied to the ring by Elizabeth, he is the Total Package Lex Luger.

'Narciccist' hits as Lex Luger and Liz make their way out to boos from the crowd.

Match three

The Dark Angel Vampiro Vs The Total Package Lex Luger with Elizabeth

Vampiro tries to kick start the match with some high tempo action but Luger doesn't seem to keen and rolls to the floor to get away from Vamp. Luger eventually rolls back in and the two men lock up and get this match properly underway. The two men go back and forth for several moments before Feel The Bang hits and out comes Diamond Dallas Page from the backstage area in his street clothes. Luger stares up the ramp way at DDP as he strides to the ring.

Luger begins to shout abuse at DDP who has stopped at the bottom of the ramp. While Luger's back is turned he gets nailed in the back with a double sledge from Vampiro. Luger turns around and swings a wild right hand at Vamp. Vampiro ducks and kicks Luger in the gut before locking in the Nail in the Coffin which gives him the three count.

Winner: Vampiro
Match time: 3.54

Vampiro gets his hand raised as he celebrates his victory on the arena floor. Meanwhile DDP rolls into the ring to confront Lex Luger. DDP begins to shout abuse at Luger who is still lying on the mat. Elizabeth climbs into the ring to confront DDP and they begin to shout abuse at one another. Luger finally comes to and he joins Liz's side in a shouting match with Page.

After several moments of heated discussion Page nods his head in approval and goes to leave the ring. Luger and Liz seem very happy with themselves as they suck up to the crowd but DDP changes his mind and comes back in and nails Luger with a stiff right hand. The crowd erupts as DDP exacts some revenge against the man who jumped him last week on Nitro and attacked his good friend Chris Kanyon on Thunder.

DDP continues to go to work on Luger as the men continue to brawl in the ring. Luger manages to battle back as Liz jumps on the back of DDP to try and get him to stop. This gives Luger the chance to get out of the ring as DDP is distracted with Liz. Luger begins to high tail it from the ringside area. Liz quickly gets out of harms way as she rolls under the bottom rope and begins to run after Luger up the ramp way.

DDP shouts after Luger and Elizabeth who have fled the ring as he looks ready for more. The camera pans backstage to Gene Okerlund who is standing by with the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, the Crippler Chris Benoit who has just arrived in the arena.

Gene Okerlund: I am welcoming at this time, the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit.

Benoit walks into the shot in street clothes with his title belt around his waist whilst pulling his travel bag.

Chris Benoit: Evening Gene.

Gene Okerlund: As you have just arrived in the arena, you won't have heard that the nWo have put you in the main event tonight. Yourself and one of your opponents at Superbrawl, Sid Vicious will be teaming up to face the Harris Brothers in a tag team match.

Chris Benoit: You know what Gene. I come to every show expecting to wrestle and put on one hell of a match for the fans out there. And tonight is no different. I brought my wrestling gear for tonight expecting the New World Order to put me in some kind of match. Teaming with Sid is no real problem for me, but come Superbrawl it will be every man for himself.

Gene Okerlund: The Chosen One Jeff Jarrett has also declared that he will be at ringside tonight as the special enforcer for your match. How does that fit into your plans?

Chris Benoit: Jeff Jarrett is a difficult character, him and the nWo keep sticking their noses in my business. And tonight hopefully I can get my hands on him. Last week he gave me the Stroke in the middle of the ring. Come Superbrawl I will get to stand toe to toe with both Sid and Jarrett and remain the WCW World Champion.

Benoit leaves the interview area as we fade to a break.

Commercial break

We come back and there is a camera set up in a old school style house with plenty of pictures on the wall and some old looking furniture. In the middle of the screen is the hardcore legend himself, Terry Funk. He looks pretty battered and bruised but seems quite content.

Terry Funk: I asked for this time on Monday Nitro tonight because there's a few things that I would like to address. Firstly last week a good personal friend of mine Arn Anderson got taken out by the New World Order. Arn took a trip to the hospital but he is now home and recovering from the injuries he sustained. As far as I am aware, he will be back fighting fit in a couple of weeks which is good news.

Funk adjusts himself in the chair and he leans forward and stares a bit deeper into the camera.

Terry Funk: New World Order you have assaulted and done a lot of damage to a close and personal friend of mine. You see I have been in this business for more years than I care to discuss, so I know what you punks are all about. WCW and the fans have had enough of you boys running around and causing mayhem on our show. So it has to stop, right now!!

Funk looks intense as he begins to talk a little bit faster.

Terry Funk: Next Monday night on Nitro I am going to be there live and I want one of your boys one on one. Then Nash, I will be coming after you and ill be getting back my spot as commissioner.

The hardcore legend gets to his feet.

Terry Funk: See you next week boys.

The camera comes back into the arena live on Nitro as we go to the commentators at ringside.

Tony Schiavone: A message from the home of Terry Funk here tonight.

Bobby Hennan: I have known Terry for a lot of years and he looks pumped up about taking on the New World Order. The news about Arn is very good as well guys. I thought he would be out indefinetly .

Mike Tenay: I think we all thought that his career was over after the beating he took from the New World Order last week.

Tony Schiavone: And we heard from Funk himself that he will be returning next week live on Nitro to face the nWo.

Mike Tenay: That's next week though guys, we still have plenty of more action for everyone tonight. Sid Vicious and Chris Benoit taking on the Harris Boys as well as Jeff Jarrett going one on one with Buff Bagwell.

Tony Schiavone: Plenty of action still to come but wait a minute, I am getting word that there is a disturbance backstage, lets go back and have a look.

The camera quickly flashes to the backstage area were we see the Mamalukes and the Disco Inferno being attacked by the WCW World Tag Team Champions, David Flair and Crowbar. Crowbar and Flair are fighting it out against three men in the backstage area. All five men are going at it whilst Daffney just stands by screaming at all five men. After several moments the Mamalukes get the upper hand and the WCW World Tag Team Champions begin to high tail it away from the scene.

Big Vito: You want to try and jump us huh? later tonight we are going to beat you three loonies in the ring? Six person tag match, Sicilian style.

Vito shouts after the three lunatics as they run off down the corridor.

The cameras pan back to the ring were David Penzer is standing by.

David Penzer: Introducing at this time, he is apart of the New World Order and the WCW U.S Heavyweight Champion, here is Scott Hall.

Wolfpac hits and Scott Hall struts out onto the stage in his wrestling gear. He has his belt around his waist and his toothpick in his mouth. He swaggers to the ring as the fans continue to cheer the 'Bad Guy'.

Scott Hall: Hey yo.

Scott Hall smiles as the fans cheer for the Outsider.

Scott Hall: You know the nWo came to Wilkes-Barre tonight to have a good time. And me and Scotty have been enjoying the delights that your city has to offer.

The fans cheer as Hall wobbles slightly in the ring before he continues.

Scott Hall: But before I go on I need to know a couple of things. How many people came here tonight to see Dubya See Dubya?

The fans cheer.

Scott Hall: Not bad not bad. And who came here tonight to see the N.......W......O?

The fans cheer for the New World Order as well.

Scott Hall: One more for the good guys!! But I am out here tonight in my wrestling gear and I feel like show casing my talents right here tonight live on Nitro.

Another cheap pop for Hall.

Scott Hall: So to any of the boys in the back I am issuing an open challenge to whoever fancy's a shot at facing me one on one. And if you strike it lucky and defeat me tonight. Then I might just throw you a title shot at some point. So who is going to answer my challenge.

There is several moments of silence before 'Kid Krusher' hits as Billy Kidman of the Filthy Animals strides out from the back.

Kidman climbs into the ring to face Scott Hall face to face.

Scott Hall: So you think you have got what it takes to take on the bad guy?

Billy Kidman: I reckon that I could defeat you tonight then go on to take that belt from around your waist.

The fans cheer for Kidman's response.

Scott Hall: Oh really? You want to face me right here tonight live on the biggest wrestling show on cable television?

Billy Kidman: Your damn right Scott!

Scott Hall throws his tooth pick into Kidman's face. Hall begins to laugh but gets drilled with a stiff forearm shot to the face by Kidman. The fans pop as this impromtu match begins.

Match four

Non title match: WCW U.S Champion The Outsider Scott Hall Vs Billy Kidman.

Kidman continues to go to work on Hall as this match starts with some high pace action. Kidman pushes Hall against the ropes and whips him into the other side and catches him with a Hurricanrana when he comes back. Kidman picks Hall up once more who looks dazed by this quick onslaught. Hall gets whipped into the ropes once more and this time gets met with a drop kick from Kidman, this rocks the U.S champion as he stumbles backwards and falls through the ropes to the arena floor.

Scott Hall manages to recover and gets back into the ring to continue the match. Hall takes advantage of the match when he hits a low blow behind the referees back. This grounds the high-flying Kidman as Hall begins to go to work. After several minutes the cocky and arrogant Scott Hall hits a chokeslam on Kidman and he looks to have this match won but Hall doesn't seem interested in making the cover. Hall continues to strut around the ring as the fans boo him, he signals for the Outsider Edge as this match will soon be over.

Hall grabs Kidman by the hair and drags him to his knees, Hall lifts Kidman up for the OutsidersEdge but Kidman manages to wriggle free and slides down the back of Hall and quickly rolls him up. Kidman gets the three count as he picks up a huge victory.

Winner: Billy Kidman
Match time: 5.12

The fans pop for the upset victory as Billy Kidman slides out of the ring to the arena floor. Scott Hall is going nuts in the ring as he cannot believe he has lost this match up.

Kidman gets handed a microphone at ringside. He delays saying anything for several minutes as he breathes heavily after taking a beating from Scott Hall.

Billy Kidman: Next time I will be taking that title, and ill be becoming the new WCW U.S Heavyweight Champion.

Kidman smiles as he makes his way to the back. Scott Hall is beside himself in the ring.

Commercial break

We come back from the break to Mean Gene Okerlund who is in the dressing room of the self proclaimed 'Master and Ruler of the World' Sid Vicious.

Gene Okerlund: Sid tonight you have to put any differences aside to team with Chris Benoit to take on the Harris Brothers in tag team action. How do you feel about this?

Sid Vicious: Gene, tonight me and Benoit are going to go out there and take the Harris Brothers apart and then we will run through Jeff Jarrett at ringside. Because ahead of Superbrawl in a few weeks I want to show not only the fans but I want to show both Jarrett and Benoit, exactly why I am the Master and the Ruler of the World. Tonight Harris Boys you are getting powerbombed all the way to hell.

Sid looks intense as the camera pans to the ring.

David Penzer: This is your next contest tonight on Monday Nitro, introducing first from Little Italy, they are Disco Infero, Big Vito and Johnny the Bull. The Mamalukes.

The Godfather theme hits and here comes the Sicilians to the ring to a decent reception from the crowd.

David Penzer: And their opponents, they are the WCW World Tag Team Champions, David Flair and Crowbar along with Daffney.

The three Loonies make their way out to the ringside area.

Match five

Six Person Tag Match: The Mamalukes (Disco Inferno, Big Vito, Johnny The Bull) Vs Daffney and The WCW World Tag Team Champions David Flair and Crowbar.

Johnny The Bull and Crowbar start the match off as we see probably the only real wrestling we will get in this contest. They lock up and go through some basic mat work as the two men try and size each other up.

After several minutes and the brawling ensues between the size combatants. Daffney comes off the rope with a hurricanran which takes Disco down and he quickly rolls to the arena floor. Daffney gets grabbed by the hair by Vito and thrown through the middle ropes to join Disco.

Crowbar and Flair then double team The Bull as they both clothesline him up and over the top rope to the arena floor. Flair and Crowbar then turn their attentions to Vito as it is two on one. They both whip Vito into the ropes but he manages to hold on to the top rope and stops himself from running back into a double team move. Crowbar charges at Vito but he manages to duck his head and back drops Crowbar up and over the top rope to the arena floor. Crowbar goes high into the air and comes crashing down onto Disco, Daffney and Johnny the Bull on the arena floor.

Back inside the ring and David and Big Vito continue to brawl but Vito gets the upper hand and Vito hits the Paisan Plant for the victory.

Winners: The Mamalukes
Match time: 4.52

The Mamalukes pick up a victory over the World Tag team Champions here live on Monday Nitro. The cameras pan backstage as we see Buff Bagwell making his way towards the ring for his upcoming match up, then we see a quick shot off his opponent in the next contest, nWo member, the Chosen One Jeff Jarrett is marching down a corridor with his trusty guitar over his right shoulder.

Commercial break

David Penzer: This is your next contest live on Monday Nitro. Introducing first hes Buff and hes the Stuff. Buff Bagwell.

'Buff Daddy' hits as here comes Buff Bagwell to the ring to some cheers from the crowd here tonight.

David Penzer: And his opponent respresenting the New World Order, he is the Chosen One Jeff Jarrett.

'Rockhouse' hits as here comes Jarrett to a chorus of boos. (X-Pac heat or heel heat) you decide!

Match six

Buff Bagwell Vs The Chosen One Jeff Jarrett.

Bagwell charges Jarrett early and catches him off guard and gets a couple of near falls in the early goings. Jarrett battles back and begins to take control and soon works over Bagwell. Jarrett goes for the Stroke several times but Bagwell seems to counter and get out of the hold. Bagwell as a short period of dominance and goes up to the middle rope when he has Jarrett grounded. He comes of with the Buff Blockbuster but Jarrett manages to side step the move and Bagwell hits the mat hard. As Bagwell climbs back to his feet he gets nailed in the back of the head with a stiff forearm. Jarrett then sinches in the Stroke and we have ourselves a winner.

Winner: The Chosen One Jeff Jarrett
Match time: 3.37

Jarrett goes to ringside and grabs his acoustic equalizer and slides under the bottom rope and into the ring. Bagwell is slowly regaining himself as Jarrett lines him up. Bagwell turns around and gets met with a stiff guitar shot over the top of his head. Bagwell is laid out as guitar shards are scattered all over the ring. Jeff Jarrett taunts Bagwell as the fans begin to boo the nWo member once more.

The camera quickly pans backstage to the locker room of WCW Hardcore Champion Brian Knobbs and his mentor Fit Finlay.

Brian Knobbs: Bam Bam your running around thinking that not only can you beat me but your more hardcore than me! Everyone knows who the most hardcore man in WCW is, and that's me for sure. Me and Fit have been training as hard as possible because I hear you want to face me one on one for my Hardcore title? You know what Bam Bam if you think your so tough. Next week you can face the toughest Irish man on the planet, Fit Finlay in a hardcore match. If you some how pick up the victory then I will give you a shot against me at Superbrawl for my belt. How about that?

Finaly snatches the mike from Knobbs and looks into the camera.

Finlay: Bigelow, next week on Nitro I am going to end your quest for this mans championship once and for all no questions asked. I am going to inflict so much punishment that you won't want to dare step into the ring with the king of hardcore.

Finlay pats Knobbs on the chest as the two men look menacing as the camera pans away to the New World Order locker room.

The nWo are sitting around in there locker room with Scott Hall pacing back and forth. Steiner and Nash are sitting with the ladies that were with them earlier in the evening. Jarrett sits in the corner deep in thought.

Scott Hall: Kev, you see that punk Kidman out there earlier? Nobody makes a mockery of me or the New World Order. I want him put out for good.

Kevin Nash: It will be done Scotty, you didnt lose your belt, you havent got anything to worry about.

Scott Hall: But I promised him a title shot if he beat me?

Kevin Nash: So put the title on the line and take him out yourself!

Scott Hall nods and takes a seat while Steiner continues to enjoy the company of the two women.

Kevin Nash: Boys we have a slight predicament with a one Terry Funk. That old bastard is refusing to die! Arn Anderson is on the shelf indefinitely, I dont care what Funk said about him, he isnt coming back anytime soon. So now we have Funk where we want him, all by himself. No friends, no allies, nobody to turn to. So next week, Steiner, your the man who is going to take him out for good. He said he will be here next week and Steiner you will face him one on one and end his old, over the hill career once and for all.

Steiner and Hall give their seal of approval but Jarrett doesnt respond.

Kevin Nash: Jeff you okay over there buddy?

Jeff Jarrett: Yeah Kev I am fine. Just thinking about the best way to take out Benoit and Sid later tonight.

Kevin Nash: Understandable Jeff, but the Harris Brothers will do their piece tonight and you will have the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at Superbrawl, I can guarantee that.

Jeff Jarrett: I sure will Kevin. You boys enjoy me putting a six string over the head of Buff Bagwell earlier on?

Scott Hall: Jeff, that was just too sweet!!

Jarrett smiles for the first time in the segment.

Kevin Nash: Jeff do us proud out there as the special enforcer tonight. Make sure to get some shots in on big Sid and the vanilla midget.

Jarrett climbs to his feet as the nWo seem pretty happy with their nights work so far.

Commercial break

We come back from the break and its Main Event time on Nitro!! We head to the ring to David Penzer.

David Penzer: Ladies and gentleman this is your Main Event contest tonight. Introducing first, the special outside enforcer for the match, from the New World Order, the Chosen One Jeff Jarrett.

'Rockhouse' hits as Jarrett comes out onto the stage in street clothes to a chorus of boos.

David Penzer: Introducing first at a combined weight of 595 lbs, here are Heavy D and Big Ron, the Harris Brothers.

The Harris Boys stride out to the ring to boos from the arena crowd.

David Penzer: Their opponents, introducing first, he is Sid Vicious.

'Millennium Man' hits and here comes Sid Vicious to cheers from the crowd.

David Penzer: And his tag team partner, he is the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit.

'Too Much Information' strikes over the sound system and the fans pop for the WCW Champion. Benoit strides out towards the ring looking pumped up.

Main Event

The Harris Boys (Ron and Don) Vs Sid Vicious and WCW Champion Chris Benoit. Jeff Jarrett is the special enforcer.

Ron and Sid begin this match up with a big lock up which Sid gets the upper hand with. The match plays out with the Harris Boys singling out Benoit as they use under hand tactics as well as the special enforcer Jeff Jarrett getting involved. The two Harris Boys double team Benoit for several minutes before he makes a valiant come back and manages to tag in Sid who comes in like a house of fire.

Sid attacks both men and chokeslams Ron and clotheslines Don over the top rope and to the arena floor. Sid pins Ron but Jarrett drags Sid out of the ring to the floor. Sid and Jarrett begin to duke it out as referee Mickey Jay is torn between the fighting on the outside or the match on the inside. Don joins the fray and its two on one against Sid.

Back in the ring and Ron tries to get the upper hand on Benoit by going for a piledriver which is reversed with a back body drop. Benoit follows up with some vicious knife edge chops and a quick snap suplex. Benoit drags his thumb across his throat and heads up to the top rope. Benoit comes off the top rope with a diving headbutt. Mickey Jay makes the three count and the match is over.

Winners: Sid Vicious and Chris Benoit
Match time: 6.58

Benoit gets his hand raised as Sid continues to be beaten on the arena floor by Jarrett and Don. Benoit realises his partner is in trouble and slides out to join the fray but Jarrett and one half of the Harris Boys make their way from the scene.

Benoit goes over to try and help the fallen Sid but gets a shove in the chest for his troubles. Sid seems angry for not getting the help he deserved. It looks like Benoit is explaining that he was getting the victory in the ring. Sid does not look happy as the two men continue to shove each other back and forth and exchanging strong words at ringside.

Jeff Jarrett is smiling on top of the entrance ramp as it seems he has played his opponents at Superbrawl off against each other.

Wrestlezone news and notes

~ The WWF has seen its ratings dip slightly this week scoring a 6.55, meanwhile Nitro stayed the same as last week scoring a 3.1. The WWF are beginning to build towards their next pay per view extravaganza at No Way Out. ~

~ Former ECW World Champion Taz has officially signed for the WWF on a three year contract. Even though World Championship Wrestling made a last ditch effort to sign the human suplex machine, it was the WWF who ultimately signed him. Taz is set to debut at No Way Out but the WWF may bring that forward to an episode of Raw so they have time to push him in a feud. ~

~ ECW are still in bad financial shape and Paul Heyman has contacted several of the higher paid talent to look elsewhere for work. Taz and the Dudley’s have moved to the WWF but there are still some top earners who will need to move on if ECW is to survive. The company are currently looking ahead to Living Dangerously March 12th many people within the company are talking about this being one of the last big PPV's for the organisation. ~

~ World Championship Wrestling have announced that a big press conference will be held the night after Superbrawl. There is some buzz around Monday 21st as there are lots of rumours flying around regarding what this big press conference is all about. ~

Monday Nitro Review

Okay so this is the first time Ive reviewed your thread, apologies if I get a few things wrong I have been back and recapped but may make a few mistakes lol. As we are both doing WCW 2000, I am very interested and intend to be regular reader.

The opening cruiserweight title match was good fun. I love cruiserweight tournaments. This is the sort of stuff WCW needed to be putting on at the time to help them out of thier slump. A nice recap here, the match sounded very exciting. Juvi winning I love because I'm a big Juvi fan, I personally hope he wins the tournament.

I really like the nWo skit, these guys were crazy in character here. Only downfall is I just hate this version of the group, I hated it when it was formed and hated everything they did. I'm hoping you can make them watchable for me. Nice segment though, better than the ones they would have in real life.

The Wall being part of the revolution I really like. I never really cared for The Revolution either, but The Wall is a guy who could actually benefit from the team. Giving him a prominent challenge is a good touch, shows he is here to play. The match with Tank was a bit sluggish but nevertheless it achieved its goal.

Great victory for Vampiro. Vampiro was one of the brightest stars in WCW at this time, so im very glad he went over. This was a fun match with a nice finish, and a good way to put Vamp over, putting him over a fairly respected guy.

Benoit promo was slightly weak to me. I just don't think he can talk as a babyface. However, as a heel in WWF 2000, He cut his best promos ever. Oh well, hopefully in time I will grow to appreciate him face in this thread.

I liked Funk's promo, but I never understood when they pushed Funk to take out the nWo. Not that I'm against using old guys, but Funk versus the entire nWo is insane. Good promo though, and very in character.

Scott Hall in an awesome open challenge. I love Hall and this is how he should be used, he should not back down, even when a heel. It was a fun back and forth heel vs face match, but I don't think Kidman should have won, but hey that's just me, I'm a hall mark. In a new WCW, clearly Kidman needed some big wins, I just hated it when he would face people like Hulk Hogan and beat them, it just wasn't believable, but with Hall I guess its okay, I just was rooting for Hall haha. Also with it being a roll up desperation win, it was perfectly acceptable.

six person tag was fun, and I would always enjoy seeing Daffney do her athletic moves. A good match.

Decent match with Jarrett and Bagwell, I thought these two did some good matches in 2000. However, this one was kinda brief in its recap, it was okay and the aftermath was fun, but Id like to see these two face down the line perhaps at PPV in a longer match. Although the company was a sham at the time, I really enjoyed thier match at Mayhem 2000.

Once again a good nWo promo. You are already booking them a hell of a lot better than Vinnie Ru. I like how Hall is looking for revenge, Hall and Kidman should work really well in future matches. Haha Nash pulling the vanilla midget gag again made me giggle.

Main event was decent, again I realise it was only a recap, which is actually the best way to do it for TV shows, hell I do it. I liked how Benoit got the fall cleanly, he needed more clean wins back here. Benoit and Sid are not getting on and it seems Superbrawl is gonna be every man for himself. I liked this simple post match, usually back here WCW would have massive over the top post match things, but this was short and sweet and did the job of building to the PPV.

Overall: I really liked this show. You actually made me care about nWo 2000, I didn't think that was possible! By reeling them in and reducing the amount of crazy and stupid shit they would do, you actually have them as a believable heel team who are booked correctly. Well done on that. I love reading WCW BTBs and this is such a great timeto attempt to do I will be back each week for sure. Hall was great on the show was The Wall, Vampiro and Benoit. So many great pushes going on, Your BTB is also very refreshing and easy to read, as you reduce the detail of the matches and it reads more of a recap, and the show breezes along very easy to read. I look forward to also reading your take on full matches at PPV. I also have a WCW BTB, takes place April 2000. If you get the chance, have a look at the first dawn of a new era Nitro I have posted. Good luck with this and please continue because you are onto something.

WCW Monday Nitro 07/02/00

We see the usual video package to start us off tonight. We then see a few clips from Nitro and Thunder from the last week before the cameras pan around the arena live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The cameras finish with a shot of David Penzer standing in the middle of the ring.

David Penzer: Ladies and gentleman this is your opening contest here live on Monday Nitro! Introducing first accompanied to the ring by his tag team partner Stevie Ray. Representing Harlem Heat, here is Big T.

'Rap Sheet' hits and out come Harlem Heat. The fans boo the duo as they stride to the ring ready for the upcoming match up.

Stevie grabs a microphone as he looks intense.

Stevie Ray: Booker, you may be my little brother but you sure as hell ain’t acting like it. You want to turn your back on me and Big T for that piece of fish, Midnight. Come on out here and let Big T kick your ass once more just like he did when we where kids growing up in Harlem.

'Rap Sheet' hits once again as Booker T comes out to a good ovation from the crowd live in Tulsa.

Match one

Big T with Stevie Ray Vs Booker T

Stevie quickly exits the ring as this match starts with Big T using his strength and size to dominate in the early goings. Big T goes for the Tiger Bomb very early on but Booker T manages to counter and begins to gain the upper hand.

Booker has control of the match for several minutes and hits the Harlem Sidekick which knocks Big T down to the canvas. Booker gets the fans going as he climbs to the top rope. At this point Stevie Ray jumps up onto the apron and distracts both the referee Nick Patrick and Booker T. Patrick begins to instruct Stevie Ray to get down as Booker climbs off the top rope and goes over to confront his brother. Stevie shoves Booker who stumbles. Booker composes himself and knocks his brother off the apron with a stiff shot. This distraction gives Big T the opportunity to attack Booker from behind, he drills him with a double sledge before running him down with a clothesline.

Big T lifts Booker up and goes for the Tiger Bomb but Booker reverses and hits the Book End for the three count.

Winner: Booker T
Match time: 4.15

Booker T slides out of the ring and heads up the ramp way as a pissed off Stevie Ray tends to Big T in the ring. Booker gets handed a microphone as he stands at the bottom of the ramp way.

Booker T: Stevie on Thunder you and Big T took out Midnight, so right now I haven't got anybody watching my back. But against you two suckas I ain’t too bothered. But Stevie I have had enough of you trying to involve yourself in my business and attack me when my backs turned. So at Superbrawl lets finish this like brothers. One on one nobody else needs to be involved and we finish it. We will see who the better man is once and for good. Now can you dig that? Suckaaaaa!!!

Booker drops the mic as Stevie Ray shouts abuse after his younger brother. The cameras pan away from the explosive scene as we head to the entrance to the arena.

We see the Hardcore Legend Terry Funk making his way through the entrance and in to the arena. We get a two shot of the nWo locker room watching Funk arrive and looking on. The cameras follow Funk for a couple of moments as he heads towards his locker room.

Commercial break

We come back from the commercial break and head straight to ringside to the three man commentary team.

Tony Schiavone:Welcome to Monday Nitro everybody, I am Tony Schiavone and these are my colleagues Bobby Hennan and Mike Tenay. Tonight we have two hours of jam packed action and what about the start of the show guys?

Bobby Hennan: I guess Terry Funk was telling the truth last week. He has kept his promise and has turned up and the New World Order seemed very interested to see that he made it to Oklahoma tonight.

Mike Tenay: What about the Harlem Heat and Booker T situation. It looks like we have ourselves another match for Superbrawl in just under two weeks time. Brothers Stevie Ray and Booker T look set to go one on one for which seems like it could be the last time.

Tony Schiavone: Funks arrival as well as Booker's challenge have kick-started us off here tonight, but there is still a lot left to come.

'Self High Five' blares over the sound system and here comes Diamond Dallas Page and his lovely wife Kimberley. The duo get a good reaction from the crowd but DDP seems in no mood for being happy go lucky tonight. He slides into the ring and gets handed a microphone from one of the ring crew.

DDP: Tulsa Oklahoma, it feels pretty good to be back with you guys tonight.

Cheap pop for Page.

DDP: But you see I am out here for one reason and one reason only. And that is the very small package, Lex Luger.

The fans boo Luger's name.

DDP: You see, Luger has not only beaten up one of my best friends Chris Kanyon, but his skank of a girlfriend, side kick, valet, whatever the hell you want to call her Liz. Well she put her hands on my wife. And I ain’t standing for that. So Luger if you have a problem with me and you want to come out here and tell me to my face, then please don't hesitate to bring that four percent body fat down the aisle and we can sort this out.

No music plays and DDP looks frustrated.

DDP: Come on Luger. Bring your ass down here.

The Total Packages music plays and he makes his way out to the stage with Elizabeth in tow.

Lex Luger: DDP what is your problem? Is the fact that I have a better looking woman on my arm? Or is it the fact that I have a better body than you? Or is it the fact that I took out your best friend a couple of weeks ago and you can't do a damn thing about it?

Luger laughs to himself as DDP gets increasingly frustrated.

DDP: Lex, you had no right to attack Chris after the match up. Now your going to have to answer to me!

DDP leaves the ring and charges up the ramp way to meet Luger head on. The two men begin exchanging right hands as the fight spills down the entrance way and towards the ring. DDP gets the upper hand and throws Luger into the steel guard rail and follows it up with a clothesline that levels the Package. This brawl is getting out of hand as the action spills into the ring. Both Kimberley and Elizabeth look on with concerned faces as the two men continue to pummel each other.

After several moments security and some referees come out from the back to break up both men. The two are pulled apart as this rivalry has spilled over tonight on Nitro. We go to a quick advertisement of some WCW products before returning.

We see a quick replay of what just happened between Lex Luger and DDP. Their tempers got the better of both men here tonight. The camera then pans to the ring for the next contest tonight.

David Penzer: Up next is the final first round match up in the WCW Cruiserweight title tournament. Introducing first from Tijuana Mexico, he is Psychosis.

Psychosis's music hits and here comes the luchador.

David Penzer: His opponent accompanied to the ring by fellow members of Three Count, here is Evan Karagias.

Three Count get loudly booed by the fans as they make their way towards the ring.

Match two

WCW Cruiserweight Title Tournament round one: Psychosis Vs Evan Karagias with Shannon Moore and Shane Helms

The two Cruiserweights circle the ring before they lock up as this match gets under way. Psychosis sets the pace in the early going and hits Karagias with a clothesline, a running hurricanrana and a spinning heel kick which rocks Karagias as he rolls to the outside. As Karagias regroups with the other members of Three Count Psychosis hits the far ropes in the ring and charges to the other side, he soars over the top rope with a death defying suicide plancha which takes out all three men. Psychosis is pumped up as the fans come alive.

Psychosis has the advantage for the majority of the match with Karagias only getting limited offence. Psychosis picks up the victory with his signature Guillotine Leg Drop off the top rope.

Winner: Psychosis

Psychosis celebrates advancing to the semi finals as Shannon and Shane tend to Evan.

Commercial break

We come back from the break and we go to the announcers at ringside.

Tony Schiavone: What an action packed start to Monday Nitro guys!

Mike Tenay: As always Tony. Action from the get go here in WCW.

Hennan looks on with little to no interest in the other announcers.

Tony Schiavone: The two brothers Stevie Ray and Booker T have come to blows once more as Booker has challenged Stevie for a match at Superbrawl in just under two weeks.

Mike Tenay: A brave challenge from Booker considering he no longer has the back up of Midnight after she was taken out on Thunder last week. What about the news that the Hardcore Legend is here, Terry Funk arrived earlier on tonight.

Tony Schiavone: Only time will tell what happens with Funk and the nWo here tonight. Bobby, have you got anything to say?

Bobby Hennan: Next.

Schiavone and Tenay shoot Hennan disgusted looks as the show continues.

~ The loonies are loose!! ~

We quickly pan backstage as the WCW World Tag Team Champions David Flair and Crowbar, along with their manager Daffney are walking. The three deranged figures are seen pushing one another and fooling around as Daffney screams continuously throughout. They are on the way to the ring to defend their World Tag Team straps. The cameras pan to David Penzer.

David Penzer: Ladies and gentleman this is your next contest tonight and it is for the WCW World Tag Team Championships. Introducing first the challengers, accompanied by the Disco Inferno. Big Vito and Johnny The Bull, they are the Mamalukes.

'Speak Softly Love' hits as the Mamalukes and Disco Inferno come out to a good amount of cheers from the crowd.

David Penzer: And their opponents, straight out of the asylum. Accompanied by Daffney, they are the WCW World Tag Team Champions. David Flair and Crowbar.

Generic rock music hits as the World Tag Team Champs make their way out to the ring.

Match three

WCW World Tag Team Titles: David Flair and Crowbar with Daffney Vs The Mamalukes (Big Vito and Johnny The Bull) with Disco Inferno.

Flair and Big Vito kick start this WCW Tag Team Title match as they lock up. Vito gets the upper hand as Flair is no match for Vito's toughness. The Mamalukes dominate David Flair as they use quick tags to keep Flair isolated from his partner. David gets the tag and Crowbar comes in to change the dynamic of the match up. The two teams continue to trade the advantage of the match as Disco and Daffney get involved to try and help their respected teams.

The finish comes as Crowbar and Johnny The Bull are brawling on the arena floor as Vito and Flair go at it in the ring. Vito kicks Flair in the gut and delivers the Paisan Plant. Vito makes the cover but it is broken up, but not by somebody in the match up. Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn of the Revolution are in the ring!!

Referee Mark Johnson calls for the bell as this match is thrown out.

Winner: No contest
Match time: 5.13

Malenko and Saturn double team Vito and throw him through the ropes. Crowbar and Johnny The Bull realise what is happening and they slide into the ring to attack the two men. Crowbar gets caught with a stiff clothesline from Malenko and Saturn meets the Bull with a standing side kick. Malenko follows it up with a drop kick onto Crowbar as the Revolution begin to beat down the three men left in the ring.

Saturn lifts Flair up and throws him over head with a massive T-Bone suplex. The Revolution stand tall as Malenko goes to the outside, he grabs Disco and drills him with a right hand and throws him into Saturn. Saturn meets Disco as he gets flung into the ring. Saturn pounds Disco with right hands followed it up with a suplex. Malenko walks around the ringside area to the time keepers table. He takes the WCW World Tag Team title belts and slides back into the ring.

Dean hands Saturn one of the titles as the two members of the Revolution stand tall in the centre of the ring. The fans boo as both Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn scowl at the crowd as they stand among a sea of bodies.

The cameras pan backstage to the nWo locker room where all four members are sitting around on leather sofas.

Kevin Nash: So Terry Funk did turn up tonight after all.

Scott Hall: Yo Kev, you must have had a feelin' he was gonna show his old face tonight?

Kevin Nash: I would never question the man's guts, but his brain capacity is another matter. He clearly is as stupid as he looks. Tonight Big Poppa, your going to take him out for good. No questions asked.

Scott Steiner: You got it Kev, and you know what? I am going to enjoy ripping his head off and finishing his stinking career right here tonight.

The nWo look very pleased with themselves, suddenly the locker room door swings open and in strides the Total Package Lex Luger and Elizabeth. Jeff Jarrett and Steiner both get to their feet to confront Lex but Nash beckons them to retake their seats.

Kevin Nash: Mr Package, what can I do for you?

Lex Luger:Kevin, I want that sadistic and messed up Diamond Dallas Page sectioned. The man has lost it! Firstly he allows his tramp of a wife to touch Elizabeth here. Then he continues to stick his nose in my business every single week. I have had it!

Kevin Nash: You see Lex, I do agree with you. You have been mistreated and myself and the WCW board apologise on behalf of DDP and his actions.

Nash smiles as he mocks Luger.

Lex Luger: I am serious Kevin, I want him gone from WCW, did you see what he did earlier on? He attacked me out of nowhere, no match, no provocation, nothing. I want, no I demand you do something about this right now Kevin.

Luger gets very angry and his body language is getting more and more threatening. Nash frowns at Luger and then leans to his left and whispers something in the Chosen One Jeff Jarrett's ear. Jarrett nods and Nash turns back to face Luger and Liz.

Kevin Nash: Seeing as how both you and DDP have not been getting on and you want him gone from WCW. I have just made a new match for Superbrawl, it will be the Total Package Lex Luger going one on one with Diamond Dallas Page. You want something done with Page, then do it yourself.

Lex Luger: Have you lost your mind? Have you gone totally insane?

Kevin Nash: Does it look like it? I didn't think so. You want to have DDP taken out, then do it yourself Lex. Now get out of the New World Order's locker room.

Lex looks disgusted at Nash as he turns and leaves the locker room.

Kevin Nash: I am sick and tired of guys in this business expecting other people to do their dirty work. Luger and DDP should put on a good match at the Pay Per View.

Scott Hall: Good idea Big Kev. Last week that little punk Kidman got a fluke win over me, is he booked tonight?

Kevin Nash: Not yet, you want him in a match?

Scott Hall: Nah, that would be too easy. Lets put him in a match so I can sit at ringside and do some colour.

Kevin Nash: Who should we put him up against?

Jeff Jarrett: I've got an idea Kevin.

Jarrett whispers something in Kevin Nash's ear. Nash quickly leans forward in his chair with a massive smile on his face.

Kevin Nash: You know what Jeff? That is truly brilliant!!

We fade to a commercial break.

Commercial break

The cameras come back and they head to ringside as we see the three announcers standing by.

Tony Schiavone: Welcome back to Monday Nitro, what about that guys, Kevin Nash announced before the commercial break that at Superbrawl in thirteen days Lex Luger will be going up against Diamond Dallas Page.

Bobby Hennan: This dispute has stemmed from the argument and fight that we saw a few weeks ago on Nitro between Elizabeth and Kimberley. The two men's women have made this match happen at Superbrawl guys.

Mike Tenay: And Luger clearly wasn't happy with the decision that was made. But we have ourselves another great match for Superbrawl.

Tony Schiavone: The card is beginning to stack up. Luger against DDP, the finals of the WCW Cruiserweight Title tournament as well as the triple threat match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Sid Vicious, Jeff Jarrett and the champion Chris Benoit in one ring at Superbrawl.

Mike Tenay: We still have plenty of action still to come tonight Tony. WCW World Heavyweight Champion, the Crippler Chris Benoit will be taking on the twisted and demonic Vampiro in a non title match up in the main event tonight. Scott Steiner of the nWo going up against the Hardcore Legend Terry Funk. But up next its Konnan of the Filthy Animals going up against Kanyon in singles action.

Bobby Hennan: Take it away boy.

The camera pans to David Penzer who is standing by.

David Penzer: This is your next contest tonight, introducing first, representing the Filthy Animals, here is Konnan.

Dirty Filthy hits as here comes K-Dawg. He swaggers to the ring to a few cheers from the crowd.

David Penzer: And his opponent, Kanyon.

Kanyons music hits as he comes out to some cheers from the fans in attendance.

Match four

Chris Kanyon Vs Konnan

Konnan and Kanyon circle the ring before locking up. These two men are trying to take a step towards getting themselves a shot at the US title here tonight. Both men have been treading water recently in WCW. Kanyon takes the early advantage when he hits a flurry of quick offence to take Konnan off his feet. Kanyon goes for an early Flatliner attempt but Konnan blocks it and hits a rolling clothesline. Konnan hits a running elbow drop but only gets a two count.

The match continues for several minutes with Kanyon retaking the advantage of the match. He hits a neck breaker followed up with a standing drop kick. Kanyon begins to climb the ropes as Konnan is prone on the canvas. Kanyon comes off the top rope but Konnan manages to roll out of the way, Konnan gets up and hits a seated drop kick into the side of the head of Kanyon. Konnan quickly rolls his opponent over and locks in the Tequila Sunrise and gets the submission victory.

Winner: Konnan
Match time: 3.06

Konnan gets his hand raised by referee Mickey Jay at ringside. Kanyon favours his left arm as he slides to the outside after suffering the loss. Kanyon is very frustrated as he screams at some of the fans at ringside before kicking the steel ring steps several times. Kanyon is clearly extremely upset with that latest loss. The cameras pan away from the angry and frustrated Kanyon to Mean Gene Okerlund who is standing by with Diamond Dallas Page backstage.

Gene Okerlund: My guest at this time is former WCW Champion Diamond Dallas Page, welcome. DDP, earlier tonight we saw you attack the Total Package Lex Luger and viciously assault him. What prompted this?

DDP: You see Geno, myself and Lex go back quite a long way now, and his attitude and his demeanour in this company is not a good one. He continues to disrespect and undermine certain individuals in this business. And the fact is, I have had enough of it. So earlier tonight that little beating I put on you is just a glimpse into what is going to happen at Superbrawl. Earlier tonight Kevin Nash announced that me and you will be going one on one in just under two weeks at the pay per view, and I am itching to get my hands on that greasy little pony tail so I can kick your ass once again. Because at Superbrawl Luger, your going to feel the bang!!!

DDP throws up the Diamond Cutter sign as the interview segment finishes.

Commercial break

We come back from the break and the camera is in a dark and smoke filled boiler room. Above the ground sitting on a high hanging metal pipe is the Dark Angel Vampiro.

Vampiro: Tonight I get a chance. I get a chance to prove myself to everyone in WCW and to prove that I not only belong right here in this company but I belong high atop the card in the Main Event. I have lived my entire life in the shadows of others and in the shadows of society. But tonight that changes, I will emerge from the darkness and I will take my rightful place as one of the best wrestlers in the world.

Vampiro drops down from the pipe and begins to slowly stalk around the boiler room.

Vampiro: Chris Benoit you may be the WCW World Champion but right here tonight I plan on showing you what the Dark Angel is all about. I respect you Chris, but that won't stop me from trying to deliver the same amount of pain on you than I have suffered the whole of my life. And when I put the final nail in the coffin I will stand tall as the next in line for a WCW World Heavyweight Championship shot. And then I will achieve my destiny.

Vampiro stares maniacally in to the camera as it slowly pans away from him. We head to David Penzer who is standing by.

David Penzer: Ladies and gentleman our next contest will be contested under hardcore rules. If Bam Bam Bigelow wins this next contest he will receive a title shot against Brian Knobs at Superbrawl. So introducing first from Asbury Park New Jersey, Bam Bam Bigelow.

Bigelow makes his way to the ring to a good response from the crowd here tonight in Oklahoma.

David Penzer: And his opponent, accompanied to the ring by the WCW Hardcore Champion Brian Knobs, he is Fit Finlay.

Finlays music hits as he is accompanied to the ring by the current king of the hardcore division. The two men get boo's from the crowd as Finlay climbs into the ring.

Match five

Bam Bam Bigelow Vs Fit Finlay with WCW Hardcore Champion Brian Knobs.

Finlay kick starts the match as he charges Bam Bam and begins to nail his opponent with stiff right hands and forearms that rock the bigger man. Bigelow regains his composure and begins to fight back. He uses his size and strength to get the upper hand, he soon clotheslines Finlay up and over the top rope to the arena floor. Finlay regroups with Knobs. on the arena floor, meanwhile Bigelow slides to the outside and looks under the ring, he grabs a steel trash can from under the ring and stalks his opponent.

Bigelow soon catches up with Finlay and nails him in the back with the trash can. Knobs. turns around and walks straight into a shot as well. Bigelow has laid out both men as he grabs Finlay by the head and throws him back into the ring. Bigelow then grabs a steel chair from ringside and slides that into the ring. Back in the ring and Finlay regains the upper hand in the match thanks to Brian Knobs. and some outside interference. Finlay picks up the steel chair and goes to waffle Bigelow right between the eyes but gets kicked in the gut. Finlay drops the chair as Bigelow seizes the opportunity and lifts Finlay up into the air. Bigelow then crashes down and delivers the Greetings From Asbury Park on to the steel chair. Bigelow covers and picks up the win.

Winner: Bam Bam Bigelow
Match time: 4.19

Bam Bam Bigelow has picked up a big win tonight and has earned himself a WCW Hardcore Championship match at Superbrawl against Brian Knobs. We see Bigelow celebrating in the ring as Brian Knobs. helps Fit Finlay to the backstage area.

The cameras go from the ringside area back to the locker room of WCW Champion, the Crippler, Chris Benoit. And the champion is standing by with Mean Gene Okerlund.

Gene Okerlund: My guest at this time is WCW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit. Chris, tonight you have to put aside any thoughts regarding Superbrawl, and you need to concentrate on your main event match against the Dark Angel Vampiro. How are you feeling ahead of this non title contest?

Chris Benoit: Gene, I am looking forward to facing Vampiro tonight, he has wrestled all over the world and he is an accomplished talent. I am glad that he is getting a shot at stepping up the ladder tonight and I am more than happy to give him that. But that wont stop me from dissecting you tonight Vampiro in the middle of that ring. I am going to slowly and methodically take you apart and when I have you when I want you, I am going to make you tap to the Crippler Crossface.

Benoit looks intense as he stares into the camera.

Chris Benoit: And after tonight when I go through you Vampiro, I am going to march on to Superbrawl where I will take on both Sid and Jarrett in a Triple Threat. And you know what Gene?

Gene Okerlund: What Chris?

Chris Benoit: I can guarantee you that I will be walking out of the pay per view with this title belt still around my waist.

The cameras cut to a commercial break as Chris Benoit looks pumped and ready for tonight’s Main Event.

Commercial break

We come back from the break and the cameras are set up in the locker room of the Revolution. Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko and The Wall stand behind their esteemed leader the Franchise Shane Douglas.

Shane Douglas: WCW, you continue to try and hold down the four men you see before your very eyes. Over and over again we have been undermined and under valued by this company. And as I have stated before, that is all about to change. Tonight, during the WCW World Tag Team Title match between those two loonies and the Mamalukes, my boys, Malenko and Saturn took some spotlight and took out all four men. Easy as that ha-ha.

Douglas laughs as he turns and pats both Malenko and Saturn firmly on the chest.

Shane Douglas: You see even when you don't book us in matches, we are going to steal the show. In a couple of days on Thunder, both me and the big guy, the Wall have singles matches. We are fixing to show what the Revolution is all about. Watch this space.

Douglas pushes the camera man as it goes fuzzy for several seconds and the camera turns off. We come back live inside the arena as 'Kid Krusher' hits as Billy Kidman makes his way out to the ringside area.

The fans cheer for Kidman as we see a quick video package of last week where Billy Kidman picked up a big non title victory of WCW U.S champion Scott Hall. As the package finishes we hear 'Rockhouse' hit and here comes the WCW U.S Heavyweight Champion Scott Hall. Hall swaggers out on to the stage in his street clothes and his U.S belt strapped around his waist. He has a microphone in his right hand.

Scott Hall: Hey yo.

The fans pop for Halls catchphrase.

Scott Hall: Billy boy, last week you not only surprised me but you surprised all the fans of Dubya See Dubya. Chico you made a name for yourself by beating me last week, but tonigh' you got yourself a challenge boy. Lets bring him out right about now!

Hall does the double point at the entrance way as generic rock music hits and out marches Tank Abbott. The former UFC fighter marches down the ramp way to boos from the crowd. Kidman looks a bit shaky as Abbott climbs into the ring for this next match. Scott Hall saunters down to ringside to cut some colour commentary.

Match six

Billy Kidman Vs Tank Abbott

Abbott rolls in the ring and gets to his feet, as the bell rings he goes for his signature right hook punch but Kidman manages to duck and begins to wail away against his larger opponent with rights and lefts. Kidman manages to use his speed and quickness throughout the match as he manages to avoid the majority of Tank Abbott's offence.

Tank eventually gets full control of the match when he catches Kidman coming off the top rope and slams him to the mat. Abbott sets up for the big right hand but Kidman once again ducks and manages to lock on the Kid Krusher for the big upset victory.

Winner: Billy Kidman
Match time: 2.18

Billy Kidman has picked up a big upset win here tonight by knocking off Tank Abbott. Charles Robinson raises the hand of Kidman as Abbott rolls to the outside. While Kidman celebrates, Scott Hall makes his way towards the ring after taking off his headset. He climbs into the ring behind Kidman with his U.S title in his clutches. He lines up Kidman and as Hall turns around he swings the title belt but Kidman manages to duck out of the way and as Hall turns back around he gets met with a standing drop kick which rocks the New World Order member. Kidman follows it up with a couple of right hands before levelling the champion with a running clothesline which takes Hall up and over the top rope to the arena floor.

The fans pop for Billy Kidman as Scott Hall begins to back track and beg off as he walks up the entrance way. Billy Kidman looks down at the mat and lifts up Scott Hall's WCW U.S title belt. He picks it up and stares down at the gold, he then walks over and gets handed a microphone from a ringside assistant.

Billy Kidman: Scott Hall, last week when you made your open challenge you said that if the person who came out defeated you, they would get themselves a title match. Now seeing as I won last week and I defeated your little roadblock tonight in Tank Abbott, I think I deserve my title shot.

The fans cheer for Kidman as Scott Hall shakes his head in disgust at Kidman.

Billy Kidman: So seeing as I have a title match, then how about me and the bad guy, one on one at Superbrawl and ill take this title and put it around my waist.

Kidman looks down at the belt before looking up at Scott Hall who is beside himself on the ramp way. Kidman has just invoked his title match that he earned last week on Nitro. We head to a commercial break with Kidman looking at the title belt and Scott Hall looking on in pure anger at being humiliated by Billy Kidman here again tonight.

Commercial break

We come back from the break and head to ringside to our commentators for this evening.

Mike Tenay: Welcome back. Lets take a quick look at what transpired before the break guys.

We see a quick recap of Billy Kidman defeating Tank Abbott and challenging Scott Hall for the WCW U.S Heavyweight Championship at Superbrawl.

Tony Schiavone: What about that guys? Billy Kidman has made another huge impact tonight. He is on a role as of late, defeating Scott Hall last week in a non title match and then going over Tank Abbott tonight.

Bobby Hennan: I think he is good value for his title match against Hall. This Kidman is on a hell of a role as of late guys.

Tony Schiavone: So we have ourselves another contest for Superbrawl in thirteen days. WCW U.S champion Scott Hall defending against Billy Kidman. But up next we have the return of the Hardcore Legend Terry Funk. The Funker is set to take on Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner of the nWo in a singles contest. Lets head to David Penzer.

The camera pans to Penzer who is ready to take it away.

David Penzer: Introducing first, representing the New World Order, he is Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner.

'Rockhouse' hits and here comes Steiner. He marches out in street clothes and his trusty led pipe in his right hand. The fans boo Big Poppa as he marches to the ring, he pushes Penzer and takes the microphone from him.

Scott Steiner: Terry Funk you little bitch, get your ass out here right now, because I'm fixing to end your old stinking career right now!!

Steiner throws the microphone down and shoves Penzer from the ring.

'Fistful' hits and here comes the returning Terry Funk. He slowly makes his way out onto the stage to cheers from the crowd. With his white towel in his left hand he makes his way to the ring to face off against Scott Steiner. He slides into the ring and referee Mickey Jay calls for the bell.

Match seven

Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner Vs The Hardcore Legend Terry Funk

Steiner doesn’t even let Funk get to his feet as he begins to stomp on Funk as soon as he enters the ring. Steiner helps Funk to his feet and drills him with a stiff right hand before grabbing him around the chest and hitting a spinning belly to belly suplex. Steiner quickly gets to his feet and drops a big elbow drop onto Funks sternum. Its all Steiner in the early goings.

Steiner lifts Funk back to his feet and continues the onslaught with forearms and a vicious knife edge chop. Steiner then hurls Funk into the corner and follows after him, Funk manages to get his feet up and catches Steiner with both feet in his face. This rocks Steiner but he comes back for more and gets met with a left hand to the top of the head. Funk hits him again and again as the fans come alive for Funks come back.

The matches goes on for several minutes with the action spilling to the outside with both men getting plenty of offence in. The finish comes as Steiner inadvertently takes out the referee when he catches him with a back elbow. Steiner continues to pound Funk as Commissioner Kevin Nash makes his way out from the backstage area. Nash grabs Steiner’s steel pipe from ringside and climbs into the ring. Steiner holds Funk as Nash lines up Funk with the pipe. The fans boo as Nash takes a big swing only for Funk to move at the last second and Nash knocks Big Poppa clean out. Terry quickly punches Nash in the head and then kicks him in between his legs. Nash stumbles backwards before getting knocked through the middle ropes with another big left hand from Funk.

Referee Mickey Jay recovers just as Nash falls to the outside. Funk turns around and covers Steiner for the victory.

Winner: The Hardcore Legend Terry Funk
Match time: 5.49

Terry Funk gets one over the nWo here tonight. He gets his hand raised as Steiner is still laid out in the ring. Funk begins to walk up the aisle way but Kevin Nash interrupts him on the microphone.

Kevin Nash: Old man, you just signed your death warrant. Get down here right now and face me and Scotty.

Terry gets handed a microphone as he looks down at the ring from the top of the stage.

Terry Funk: Kevin. I just took out one of your boys tonight. And I don’t think that coming back down there now would be a good idea. But if you want me so bad, why don’t you face me at Superbrawl?

Kevin Nash: You want me at Superbrawl huh?

Terry Funk: You can bring your friend there as well.

Nash helps Steiner back to his feet as the two men stare at Funk on the ramp way.

Terry Funk: And we can have ourselves a little match.

Kevin Nash: You want the both of us? Two on one? Your brains really are scrambled old man!

Nash chuckles to himself.

Terry Funk: I think I can find myself a partner by the time Superbrawl comes around.

Kevin Nash: You've burned all your bridges, we took out Double A, who else is there who will watch your back?

Terry Funk: Don’t you worry about that Kevin. But how about we spice things up a little? I want my spot as commissioner back, so how about if I win at Superbrawl I get my spot back?

Kevin Nash: You've got it!

The fans pop as Funk gets his chance to become the commissioner of World Championship Wrestling once more. Funk begins to head backstage but Nash interrupts him.

Kevin Nash: Woah, woah. Funk, one more thing. If we win in thirteen days, and we will. Then your career, IS OVER!!!

Nash smiles as he shouts the last few words. Funk looks on as we head to a commercial break.

Commercial break

We come back from the break and WCW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit is walking through the backstage area looking pumped and ready to go ahead of our Main Event. The camera then finishes on the ring and David Penzer.

David Penzer: Ladies and Gentleman this is your Main Event for Monday Nitro.

The fans cheer for the Main Event of the evening.

David Penzer: This is a non title contest. Introducing first, from parts unknown, he is the Dark Angel, Vampiro.

'Destroyer' hits and here comes Vampiro. The fans cheer for the man in paint as he makes his way towards the ring.

David Penzer: And his opponent is the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, from Edmonton, Alberta Canada, here is the Crippler Chris Benoit.

'Too much information' strikes and here comes the WCW Champion. The fans pop as Benoit slowly makes his way to the ring.

Match Eight Main Event Non title

The Dark Angel Vampiro Vs WCW Champion Chris Benoit

The match starts slowly with both men sizing the other up and trying to find an opening to exploit. Benoit manages to get the upper hand with some superior mat wrestling. Vampiro battles back and manages to work over Benoit. The action spills to the outside and the two men carry on the battle as Vampiro gets suplexed on the arena floor as Benoit gets a good pop from the crowd. Benoit chops Vampiro across the chest several times before rolling back into the ring.

Vampiro is lying motionless on the mat as Benoit climbs onto the apron and up to the top rope. Benoit comes off the top rope with a Diving head butt but Vampiro manages to roll away from danger as Benoit gets nothing but the mat. Vampiro gets to his feet and follows it up with several right hands and then whips Benoit against the ropes and to the other side, as Benoit comes back he gets met with a spinning heel kick by Vampiro.

Vampiro manages to control the match as he gets several near falls. But Chris Benoit shows why he is the WCW World Champion when he reverses a Nail In The Coffin attempt by Vampiro with the Crippler Crossface. Vampiro is in the hold for several moments before tapping out.

Winner: Chris Benoit
Match time: 7.12

Chris Benoit picks up an impressive victory in tonight’s Main Event. Vampiro put on a hell of a showing but just didn’t quite have enough tonight. Benoit gets his hand raised but he doesn’t seem that bothered as he turns his attention back to Vampiro. Benoit looks down at Vampiro as he tries to get back to his feet, Benoit then reaches down and helps The Dark Angel back to his feet. For several seconds the two men stare as each other before Benoit stretches out his hand and Vampiro shakes. The two men show great sportsmanship at the end of Nitro tonight.

Vampiro leaves the ring as Chris Benoit gets handed his WCW World Title, as Benoit climbs the ropes to pose for the crowd with his title belt, The Chosen One Jeff Jarrett runs out from the back, unsighted by Benoit. He slides into the ring and drags Benoit off the middle ropes and begins to hammer away at the champion. Jarrett whips Benoit into the ropes and levels him with a big clothesline.

Jarrett continues the attack against Benoit but he is interrupted when out comes Sid Vicious from the backstage area. Sid charges to the ring and Jarrett quickly scrambles.

WCW Monday Nitro 14/02/00

We see the usual Nitro opening before pyro and fireworks open the show. The camera pans around the arena here in Nassau, Long Island, New York. The crowd pop for the fireworks and the beginning of Nitro. We finish at ringside with the triple threat of Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Bobby the Brain Hennan.

~~~The three amigos!~~~
Tony Schiavone: Welcome everyone to World Championship Wrestling. We are live tonight in New York for Monday Nitro and what a show we have planned for tonight.
Mike Tenay: That's true Tony, we have a number of big matches tonight as we are only six days away from Superbrawl this sunday on Pay Per View.
Bobby Hennan: What about Superbrawl guys, what a show thats shaping up to be! Chris Benoit, big Sid and Jeff Jarrett in a three way dance for the WCW Title, wow!
Tony looks at Bobby to try and work out whether the Brain is being enthusiastic or just sarcastic at his statement. Tony then looks back into the hard camera as we continue.
Tony Schiavone: Well said Brain, but tonight we have the two semi finals in the Cruiserweight title tournament. Rey Mysterio Jr will be taking on Juventud Guerrera and Psychosis will be facing Chavo Guerrero Jr in the two semi's. So at the end of the night we will know who will be facing off this Sunday for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship.
Mike Tenay: As well as the huge Superbrawl preview eight man tag team contest. Its going to be Billy Kidman, Booker T, Bam Bam Bigelow and Diamond Dallas Page taking on their opponents at Superbrawl. Stevie Ray, Brian Knobbs, Lex Luger and the U.S Champion Scott Hall. What a match that will be and a good insight into who will come out on top in some of the matches for Superbrawl.
'Wolfpac' hits and the fans react indifferently to the sound of the commissioner's music. Out strides Kevin Nash in a black suit and a clip board in his hand. He makes his way towards the ring with fellow New World Order members behind him. Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner with his led pipe and Jeff Jarrett with his guitar. Several seconds later the WCW U.S Champion Scott Hall saunters out to the stage and down the ramp way.
Kevin Nash gets handed a microphone as he climbs into the ring along with the rest of the band.
Kevin Nash: Good evening New York!
The fans cheer for the cheap heat.
Kevin Nash: Now sit down and listen to your master.
The fans boo Nash as he begins to laugh.
Kevin Nash: As you know, the nWo is running the show and tonight is no different. Tonight I have a few things to get off my chest.
He looks down at his clip board before continuing.
Kevin Nash: First and foremost, I have made the decision tonight to place all three men who are in the Main Event at Superbrawl in matches to prove why they are headlining Superbrawl. These matches are going to be arduous and intense and will most definitely prepare them for their match in six days.
The Chosen One Jeff Jarrett walks over and looks disgusted at Nash. He says something in the ear of Nash and Nash beckons him away as he continues.
Kevin Nash: Don't worry Jeff. So as I was saying. All three men, Sid Vicious, WCW Champion Chris Benoit and the Chosen One Jeff Jarrett will be competing in matches ahead of Superbrawl. Jeff you will be taking on an un-named opponent inside a steel cage tonight!
Jarrett looks shocked as he shouts at Nash. They nearly come to blows but Nash manages to calm down the Chosen One once more.
Kevin Nash: Sid, you will be taking on several un-named opponent in a gauntlet match, and lastly WCW Champion Chris Benoit will be taking on the Hardcore Legend Terry Funk in a hardcore match right here tonight.
The fans pop for the three matches that have been announced.
Kevin Nash: So now we move on to the next piece of business, Terry Funk. I want you to tell me and all the people in attendance tonight who your partner will be for Superbrawl.
Nash looks at the entrance way but Funk doesn't appear.
Kevin Nash: Terry Funk, in six days time, me and Big Poppa are going to take you and whoever your mystery partner is apart. If you have found yourself a partner by now he will be taken out for good come sunday and thats a promise. And Terry when the bell rings on Sunday I am still going to be commisioner of WCW and your career is going to be over.
'Fistful' hits and out walks Terry Funk, alone.
Terry Funk: Kevin Nash, you want me to bring out my mystery partner for Superbrawl? I'm sorry but I just can't do that, you will have to wait for six days when I reveal who is going to be taking you apart in the tag team match.
Kevin Nash: Funk, stop messing around and bring him out or all four of us are going to walk up there and beat your old lifeless body once again.
Terry Funk: All I can is that my mystery partner may have walked among you in the past and he knows a lot of you better than you know yourselves. This Sunday he is coming to write some of the wrongs in WCW.
Kevin Nash: You want to try and threaten me old man, because come Superbrawl your ass is mine Funk whether you like it or not. And if you do manage to bring somebody in to watch your back then Scotty Steiner here, is ready and waiting.
Steiner shouts abuse at Funk up the aisle way whilst pointing his steel pipe at him.
Terry Funk: I will see you Sunday when I become Commissioner of World Championship Wrestling once again.
Kevin Nash: I am going to jackknife you straight to hell. And you know what? You have got to go through Chris Benoit here tonight in a hardcore match. So you might not even make it to Superbrawl!
The nWo and Terry Funk stare at each other as we cut to a commercial.
Rey Mysterio: Chavo has proven over the last few weeks that he has got himself back into tremendous shape and is on a roll as of late. Kevin Nash: The Chosen Champion!!
Soctt Hall climbs to his feet and does the wolfpac sign with Jeff Jarrett and he heads to the door.
Scott Hall: Ill catch you boys later as I have the eight man tag up next.
Kevin Nash: Scotty, I think that hardcore match for Terry Funk tonight may have put him out indefinitely, I will be surprised if he even makes it to Superbrawl.
Nash begins to laugh as Jarrett takes a seat and Scott Steiner begins to speak.
Scott Steiner: Thats true Kev, but we still don't know who his mystery partner is going to be.
Kevin Nash: You know what Scott? Tonights show has gone to plan so far. Funk, Sid and Benoit have all been worn out ahead of their matches on Sunday and the outsider is going to go out there and win the eight man tag match next. I am not concerned at all about the mystery partner because if Funk wants to wheel out Double A again then we know how thats going to go down.
Steiner and Jarrett laugh as Kevin Nash seems very confident ahead of the tag team match at Superbrawl.
Kevin Nash: Now lets kick back and enjoy the rest of the show.
Mike Tenay: You can say that again Tony, what a way to count down to Superbrawl in six days time.
Bobby Hennan: What a wild main event. Eight men who will be competing against each other in singles matches in six days time where involved in a mass brawl at the end of the main event tonight. Clearly that is just a sign of things to come.
Tony Schiavone: Definitely Bobby, we saw a huge preview for what is going to happen Sunday night. Lets run down the card once more.
The matches for Superbrawl slowly appear on the screen as the three announcers run down the card. While the card is being run down the announcers are interrupted by the music of the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, 'Too much information' hits and here comes the Crippler Chris Benoit.
~~~ Silent but violent ~~~

Chris Benoit walks down to ringside with the big gold belt over his right shoulder. He is now in his street clothes after his earlier match up. A small plaster is seen above his right eyebrow after being busted open earlier tonight in his hardcore match with Terry Funk. He takes a microphone from ringisde and climbs into the ring.

Chris Benoit: This Sunday I have the biggest challenge yet, I defend my WCW World Heavyweight Title against two men in a three way dance. Sid Vicious and Jeff Jarrett are both coming for my title and the deck is stacked against me.

The fans cheer Benoit.

Chris Benoit: And earlier tonight I had a hard hitting match against Terry Funk and I am sure Sid is feeling the effects of his gauntlet match. This is what the New World Order does best, they back you into a corner and see if you have the guts and the spirit to come out fighting. And I am definitely up for this fight. Because on Sunday, you are all going to see what silent but violent is all aboot!!

The fans pop but they are interrupted by 'Millennium Man' as it strikes. Here comes Sid Vicious. Big Sid strides to the ring to a chorus of cheers from the crowd.

Sid Vicious: Benoit, you know what the New World Order tried to do tonight and as everyone can see, they failed. This Sunday I am going to give you the fight of your life and I will become the new WCW World Champion. Because I am the master and the ruler of not only WCW, but the world!!

Benoit steps forward with a look of disgust on his face but before these two men come to blows, 'Rockhouse' hits and here comes the Chosen One Jeff Jarrett.

Jeff Jarrett: Listen up you pair of slapnuts. Superbrawl is when I become the Chosen Champion and bring back that title to its rightful place, the nWo. And when I hit the stroke on either one of your asses on Sunday, I will achieve my destiny and stand dominate at the top of dubya see dubya.

The fans loudly boo Jeff Jarrett as his arrogance overflows here tonight.

Chris Benoit: The time for talking is over, the time of battle has come. See you at Superbrawl!

Benoit drops the microphone as the three men all stare at each other as we slowly fade to black
