Re: WWE: Still Alive
Randy Orton beats Triple H for the WWE Title at Wrestlemania 25. He holds the title through the rest of 2009, beating all in his path. Ted DiBiase turns, but is quickly dealt with at Night of Champions. Newcomer, Daniel Bryan immediately replaces DiBiase in Legacy, and helps Orton and Rhodes put Ted on the shelf. The Viper starts a feud with Batista at the end of the year, when the Animal returns and wants his title back. Old wounds soon begin reopening.
Undertaker beats HBK in the best WM match of all time. This eats away at Michaels, causing The Icon to sink into a depression. He blows up in a match with Shelton Benjamin at The Bash. HBK is quickly suspended (kayfabe), until he returns at the Slammys to accept the Match of The Year award. He seems reformed and joins Michael Cole at the announce table for RAW.
Following the amazing match with Michaels, Taker once again vanishes. Vignettes begin airing in December, announcing the return of the Deadman. He is slated for a return in January.
CM Punk wins Money in The Bank at WM. We holds the briefcase all year, but the scoop is Punk has become highly disgruntled in his current position. His characer goes heel and he runs a program with Jeff Hardy, in which he tears Hardy apart for his documented problems with substance abuse. His stock begins plummeting for it, and there are rumors he will lose the case in 2010, before cashing in.
The Big Show beats Cena and Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship at WM. He drops the title at The Bash to the returning Kurt Angle. Angle drops the title at Summerslam to Rey Mysterio. The two have a series of matches that leads to a triple threat match at Survivor Series with Christian. Christian wins the match, and retains the title against Rey on Smackdown and Kurt at TLC.
The tag team titles are won in a tag team battle royal at Over The Limit by Ricky Steamboat and Kofi Kingston. Edge and Jericho win them at Northern Lights (held in Canada) in the main event, forever retiring Steamboat. The titles are unified under “The Canadian Express”, but infighting causes the team to drop the titles to the new team The Latin Exchange (Sin Cara and a masked “Del Rio”) at No Mercy.
John Cena starts a program with the US Shamp Ken Kennedy, based around the Champ playing mindgames and fustrating Cena. Cena shows signs of cracking after repeatedly losing clean to Kennedy. When Kennedy beats Cena again at TLC, John puts the Champ through an announce table.
Dolph Ziggler starts getting a push through 2009, getting involved in main events and notable feuds. His main feud through the end of the year is with the now masked Kane. He has gotten several wins over the Big Red Machine.
The Divas Championship and ECW are fazed out in 2009. There are still Divas matches however.
The Intercontinental Championshiphops around until Night of Champions, when Kofi starts what will be a dominating win through the rest of the year.
