Loving the development of this and also glad to see you haven't ditched this project either, when it looked like you had done so. I don't expect you to write full shows however, full shows aren't needed for this to become a major player in this section, it's all about how you get your story over and even though this is early stages, the story so far is exciting and keeping me interested. Hopefully you continue to soldier on with this, the press conference was nicely done - was a bit confused with the whole fan incident but was pretty funny at the same time.

Looking forward to your next instalments for this!

Official Preview for WWF BACKLASH
Date: April 29th, 2001
Location: Allstate Arena; Rosemont, Illinois

WWF Championship; WWF Intercontinental Championship; WWF Tag Team Championship Match;
All titles on the line

If Undertaker or Kane get the victory, the wrestler gaining the fall will become the WWF Champion, and the other will become the WWF Intercontinental Champion.
Stone Cold Steve Austin (c) and Triple H (c) vs. The Brothers of Destruction (c)

At WrestleMania X-Seven the unthinkable happened, when Stone Cold Steve Austin joined forces with his former nemesis Vince McMahon. Austin relied on the owner of the WWF’s help to defeat The Rock in the Mania main event so he could recapture the WWF Championship. Whilst this move shocked the world and confused many people, ‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ had mentioned many times that he needed the title more than anything. Having sold his soul to Satan himself, Austin has become a new man. Initially he tried to duck The Rock’s rematch, but the night after Mania the two did battle again inside a steel cage. Earlier in the night, Triple H felt shafted by McMahon and made it clear he refused to stand by and let Austin become the crown jewel. During the steel cage match, McMahon got inside the cage and he and Austin began double teaming The Rock until Triple H made his presence felt. Everybody thought Hunter was going to hit Austin with his trusty sledgehammer, but instead, Helmsley swerved everybody, nailing The Rock with the sledgehammer. Obviously Stone Cold would go on to retain his title, and after the match The Rock was suspended indefinitely. With McMahon by their side, and Austin and ‘The Game’ on the same page, ‘The Two Man Power Trip’ was born.

The Brothers of Destruction on the other hand seemed to have developed an unbreakable bond in the lead up to WrestleMania, and it lead to the two wanting to continue to team together. The puzzle pieces fell together perfectly for the two, as the current WWF Tag Team Champions Edge and Christian’s mouths got the best of themselves. They came out the night after Mania and claimed they were the best team in WWF history. After defeating The Dudleyz and The Hardyz at WrestleMania in the second Tables, Ladders and Chairs match, the champions felt as if they had defeated every team worth competing against. Enter The Undertaker and Kane, and twenty five minutes later, thanks to a Chokeslam from Kane, we had new WWF Tag Team Champions.

The Two Man Power Trip gained even more power when on the first edition of Smackdown after Mania, Triple H was booked to challenge Chris Jericho for the WWF Intercontinental Championship. The match was a damn good one, with Jericho pulling out all the stops, however due to some interference from Stephanie McMahon Helmsley, Triple H became the Intercontinental Champion. It just seemed that no matter who The Two Man Power Trip decided to bully, nobody could stand up to them and offer a real challenge.

The Undertaker and Kane consider the WWF ring to be theirs to rule, and they didn’t take to kindly to Austin and Hunter trying to prove otherwise. With bad blood still brewing between ‘Taker and Helmsley after their gruelling battle at WrestleMania, ‘The American Badass’ and ‘The Big Red Machine’ decided to intervene. They let it be known that they would kick as much ass as they had to prove that they were the big dogs of the yard, and that’s exactly what began to happen. The Undertaker defeated Triple H in a Mania rematch, and Kane scored a non title victory over Stone Cold. Despite liking to duck challenges and do things the easy way, The Two Man Power Trip felt that their ego’s were bruised. Not only that but they saw an opportunity to add even more gold to their pile of belts, hence convincing Vince McMahon to book the match. The question remains will The Two Man Power Trip continue on their merry way, or will The Brothers of Destruction cause enough destruction to stop their plans?

Ultimate Submission Match;
Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle won an Olympic Gold Medal in 1996, not that he’d ever let anybody forget about it. Since making his debut in the WWF, he’s been quick to inform anybody that would listen that he is the most accomplished amateur wrestler in the WWF. Not only that, but he had the greatest first year in WWF history, which culminated with him winning the WWF Championship at last year’s No Mercy. Since then, he had lost the title, but that didn’t dent his confidence, if anything it made him more determined than ever to tell everybody how great he was.

On the other hand, Chris Benoit had more of a traditional upbringing for a professional wrestler. He trained in the famous Stu Hart Dungeon in Calgary, perfecting his trade. After years wrestling overseas, Benoit has finally been able to make a name for himself in America. He calls himself “the best technical wrestler in the world today” and that sentence alone, was enough to irritate the egomaniac Olympian.

The eventual bad blood between the two lead to a definite match of the year candidate at WrestleMania. At first, they began wrestling an amateur style match, but by the end, it has escalated into a fully fledged brawl. Kurt Angle ended up getting the win, with a roll up whilst holding the tights, leaving Benoit to feel as if nothing was solved. The night after Mania, Benoit made his intentions known after dominating Billy Gunn, saying that he had unfinished business with Angle. Kurt on the other hand looked set to insert himself into the WWF Title picture. However, in a one on one match with Kane, which certainly would have done so, Benoit’s music hit, distracting Kurt and allowing Kane to pick up the victory. Since then, there’s been attack after attack, insult after insult, these two continue to get more and more personal. It’s gotten to the point where both men are bickering over who’s finishing move is deadlier, hence why the second encounter between these two will be an Ultimate Submission Match. Thirty minutes on the clock, and whoever has the most submission victories at the end of the time limit will be declared the winner. Just who will be crowned the best technical wrestler in the world today?

WWF Hardcore Championship Match;
Raven (c) vs. Big Show

The WWF Hardcore Championship has always been the host to some brutal battles. So when Raven who is somewhat a master of the Hardcore rules matches, was pitted in a contest against two monsters like Kane and The Big Show at WrestleMania, who knew what could happen. Well, as has become the norm in Hardcore matches, they battled all throughout the arena, however when it was all said and done, Kane was the Hardcore Champion.

The next night on Raw, Big Show and Kane went at it in a match for the title, which Show felt he deserved, since he did not get pinned at Mania. The match was back and forth, with both monsters just destroying each other. The match ended with a table set up in the middle of the ring, and both men standing on the top rope. Both men had the other goozled, looking for a killer Chokeslam, before Raven came from nowhere, and pushed them off the top rope. This lead to both men smashing through the table, and Raven, with his own referee, pinned Kane to recapture the Hardcore title.

Whilst Kane moved onto other issues, The Big Show was not a happy man. The fans really began to get behind Show, hoping he would get his hands on Raven. Throughout the next few weeks, we saw Raven disguised as a diva, dressed as a camera man, and even pretending to be a pizza delivery guy. He was doing everything he could to avoid Show, and it seemed to be working. Raven stepped things up on the final Smackdown before Backlash, attacking Show after a hard fought match. Raven then quickly left the arena, leaving Show fuming. The angry giant barged into Commissioner Regal’s office, wrapped his hands around Regal’s throat, and forced Regal to book this match for the pay per view. Can Raven trick or allude Show again, or will Big Show finally have his way with the Hardcore Champion?

Six Man Tag Team Match;
Chris Jericho and The Dudley Boyz vs. William Regal and Edge and Christian

Chris Jericho and William Regal had been butting heads for awhile now. Things between the two warriors culminated at WrestleMania, when Chris Jericho successfully defending his Intercontinental Championship against Regal. Despite losing on the grandest stage of them all, the Commissioner of the WWF would not be deterred, as he continued to make Jericho’s life a living hell It was actually Regal who got the glorious idea of forcing ‘Y2J’ to defend his IC strap against Triple H a few weeks later. We all know how that worked out, as Jericho is no longer the WWF Intercontinental champion. Jericho demanded a rematch against Regal for an episode of Raw, and it was given, however Regal attacked Jericho before he could make it to the ring, meaning the match never took place. On the following edition of Smackdown, Regal baited Jericho to the ring, yet once there, Jericho was outnumbered as Regal had enlisted the help of the former WWF Tag Team Champions Edge and Christian.

Edge and Christian had only just lost the belts to The Brothers of Destruction, after regaining them at WrestleMania. They defeated their two arch rivals, The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match. After Mania, Edge and Christian constantly ran down both of these teams, claiming that they were inferior. The Dudleyz took exception but couldn’t do much, especially on the edition of Raw where Edge and Christian locked The Dudleyz in their locker room with a forklift. This would have been harmless if it wasn’t for the fact that The Dudleyz half brother Spike was getting beaten down in the ring by Rhyno.

So with a score to settle, it was no surprise to see The Dudleyz storm to Jericho’s aid, evening up the numbers. The faces then cleared the ring, and since then, members from both teams have traded singles victories. The question remains, who will be able to come out on top when all six men are in the ring together in what is sure to be an explosive situation.

WWF European Championship Match;
If Eddie Guerrero wins he gets Lita’s managerial services
Eddie Guerrero (c) vs. Matt Hardy w/Lita

One man who’s confidence had risen even further since WrestleMania, if that was even possible, is the WWF European Champion Eddie Guerrero. ‘Latino Heat’ defended his newly won title on an episode of Smackdown against the former champion Test. Despite the rest of The Radicalz being barred from ringside, Guerrero executed a Roll Up whilst holding the tights to successfully retain his title. Despite the dirty finish, that was Test’s rematch used, and Commissioner William Regal made it clear that if Test wanted another shot at Eddie he would have to earn it.

Meanwhile after coming up short in their quest for tag team gold at WrestleMania, Matt and Jeff Hardy decided that they were both ready to try their hands in singles competition. It was definitely weird to see both men branch out on their own, but Matt hit his straps immediately, gaining the attention of Eddie Guerrero. Well, technically Matt’s girlfriend Lita garnered the attention of the Mexican native. Eddie decided that since he was champion, nobody could resist his ‘Latino Heat’, and Lita could become his new Mamacita. Unfortunately for Eddie, Lita wasn’t interested, however Eddie would not stop his sleazy advances, even referring to her current man Matt as a loser. These comments raised the ire of Hardy, and he proved his worth with a hard fought non title victory over Eddie on Raw. Hardy believed this earned him a shot at the European Title, and Eddie agreed, as long as Hardy put Lita’s managerial services up for grabs. Hardy conferred with Lita and then accepted the challenge, and Guerrero let it be known that once he beat Matt and spent one night with Lita, she wouldn’t even remember who Hardy was. Matt Hardy is really fired up, wanting to defend the honour of Lita, but will the fire Matt feels be enough to go up against Eddie Guerrero’s ‘Latino Heat’?

Singles Match;
Jeff Hardy vs. Rhyno

Rhyno made a huge impact, basically being the deciding factor in Edge and Christian winning the tag team titles at WrestleMania. One man who Rhyno really did some damage to was Spike Dudley, crushing his ribs with a devastating Gore. Thanks to his buddies Edge and Christian, Rhyno got some alone time with Spike on an episode of Raw, and absolutely destroyed him. The medicos have said that Spike will be out of action for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile, having separated from his brother and trying his luck in singles competition, Jeff Hardy was finding it hard to adjust. He’d had a few losses in a row, when he decided to take a stand and defend the honour of Spike. Hardy claimed that through numerous battles over the years he had learned to respect the entire Dudley family, but he didn’t respect Rhyno. He didn’t respect Rhyno because he hadn’t earned his way into the WWF, he just got brought in by his buddies. The two repeatedly clashed both verbally and physically, with Rhyno attacking Hardy several times, until the match was made for Backlash. Who will get the last word in this one?

WWF Light Heavyweight Championship Match;
Crash Holly (c) vs. Jerry Lynn

Back when the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship was first created, prestige was given to the title. It was a title for the smaller guys to fight over, however in recent times, not many wrestlers seemed to be interested in the title. Crash Holly, the current champion, seemed more interested in running around trying to chase the WWF Hardcore Championship, rather than defending his own gold. These antics really gained the attention of Jerry Lynn.

Jerry Lynn is a man who has wrestled for a long time, and put on five star matches for a long time. He’s claim to fame would have to be his time in the now defunct Extreme Championship Wrestling, and his epic feud with Rob Van Dam. Despite constantly putting on great matches and always working his ass off, championship reigns were not something he was overly familiar with. Now in the WWF, Lynn felt like he could steal the show every single night, but he wasn’t being given the chance. Better yet, he craved the opportunity to hold some championship gold so to see a “joke” like Crash Holly ignore the Light Heavyweight Championship that he was in possession of made Lynn sick.

Lynn began interfering in Crash Holly’s matches, and had the audacity to trap Molly Holly backstage and absolutely berate her. He claimed that the whole Holly family was a joke, as Crash was a midget and Molly was a slut. Highly offended, Molly attempted to slap Lynn, but Jerry blocked it, forcefully kissed Molly and then threw her to the floor. The next week on Raw Hardcore Holly decided to defend his sisters honour, however Lynn didn’t just beat Hardcore, he laid a vicious beat down with a steel chair on Hardcore afterward. Finally, Crash decided enough was enough and agreed to put his coveted Light Heavyweight title on the line against Lynn at Backlash. Will Crash prove that he does take things seriously, or will Jerry Lynn finally hit the big time in the WWF?

WWF Women’s Championship Match;
Chyna (c) vs. Ivory

After what was a torturous journey, at WrestleMania X-Seven Chyna finally won the WWF Women’s Title, defeating Ivory. As a member of The Right To Censor, Ivory had done everything possible to make Chyna’s life a living hell up until Mania. However, after overcoming a career threatening neck injury, Chyna finally defeated Ivory. With Mania done and dusted, Chyna probably felt as if her life would become easier, but boy was she ever wrong. Not only was Ivory still chasing her, but two after women in Jacqueline and Lita seemed interested in the gold. A triple threat number one contenders match was held on an episode of Smackdown, and Lita looked set to pick up the victory, until Eddie Guerrero got involved. Eddie pulled Lita out of the ring, which allowed Ivory to pick up the scraps and finish off Jacqueline.

From there, The Right To Censor went on their usual tirade. They began claiming that they were here to clean up the act of the WWF wrestlers, but also to clean up the drug problem in the WWF. Whilst this was a touchy subject, lead by Ivory, they made it know that a woman with Chyna’s physique and jaw line had to be on some type of steroid. This caused shockwaves throughout the WWF and the media in general, as nobody could really believe how personal this was going. Chyna got fed up and challenged any member of the RTC to a match on Raw and Val Venis accepted. The two had a good match, however it ended in a No Contest when Chyna got attacked by the rest of the RTC. Ivory then appeared and cut off a whole bunch of Chyna hair, yelling that “all you needed was a haircut, Chyna, now you really do look like a man”. From there, Ivory put a restraining order on Chyna, not wanting any part of her on the lead up to Backlash. Ivory’s plan was obviously to get the champion off her game for their rematch, but Ivory better be weary, because Chyna will be gunning for revenge.

I was trying not to jinx you by showing up in here again, but I can't have you getting to a PPV without me saying hi

WWF Championship; WWF Intercontinental Championship; WWF Tag Team Championship Match;
All titles on the line

If Undertaker or Kane get the victory, the wrestler gaining the fall will become the WWF Champion, and the other will become the WWF Intercontinental Champion.
8. Stone Cold Steve Austin (c) and Triple H (c) vs. The Brothers of Destruction (c)

Just for shits and giggles. Yeah, I know Austin and Trips are winning and there's no way they're losing those titles with their Power Trip all over the place, but just because I can, I'm gonna predict a change of history. Just 'cause. Plus, who knows. It might be fun.

4. Ultimate Submission Match;
Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle

Angle won at 'Mania, correct? So yeah. Benoit to show him how it's really done. This match was pretty bitchin' in real life, btw, so make it just as awesome.

3. WWF Hardcore Championship Match;
Raven (c) vs. Big Show

It's not like the Hardcore Championship is known for stability, but Big Show has other things to do should the InVasion come, I rekon.

1. Six Man Tag Team Match;
Chris Jericho and The Dudley Boyz vs. William Regal and Edge and Christian

Should probably be one of the more fun matches on the card and is a toss up between all the men involved, but gonna go with the heels for this one.

5. WWF European Championship Match;
If Eddie Guerrero wins he gets Lita’s managerial services
Eddie Guerrero (c) vs. Matt Hardy w/Lita

This could bubble over for a while and establish Matthew in the singles scene, but he'll have to pay his dues first...in the form of his galpal

2. Singles Match;
Jeff Hardy vs. Rhyno

Another match that could be a bit of fun, and Jeff won't fare much better than his brother. Plus, Rhyno could gear up on taking on Raven, perhaps...?

6. WWF Light Heavyweight Championship Match;
Crash Holly (c) vs. Jerry Lynn

Tossed up a coin. Landed on Lynn.

7. WWF Women’s Championship Match;
Chyna (c) vs. Ivory

Squash at 'Mania and shouldn't need to be much more than that a month later.

Bonus Questions
1. Predict the match order. DONE
2. Who will get the winning fall in the main event? It'll be Austin, but I'm gonna go with 'Taker
3. Who will take the losing fall in the main event? It'll be Kane, but gonna say Trips
4. Will there be any dirty finishes? Almost surely in the main event and possibly the Euro title match
5. Will there be any surprise appearances? If so, who? Um...Bischoff?

I don't think these two will loose their momentum this early. At most an implosion of egos between one another and a Summerslam blowout, Austin v HHH. These guys had so much potential with the two man power trip, just a shame in real life HHH was injured and missed teh entire InVasion angle.

6. Ultimate Submission Match;
Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle
As much as I love Benoit, he wasn't really ready for the main event scene back then in my opinion, still needed around the mid card while Angle on the other hand was already established and needs this win to elevate himself back into the WWF title scene.

3. WWF Hardcore Championship Match;
Raven (c) vs. Big Show
Hope you might be able to actually make something worthwhile with this title belt and not just a jobber, filler belt like the WWE did before making it defunct in mid 2002. And that can easily be done with Raven who could be an awesome Gothic heel or whatever you want really, just please make the belt important.

4. Six Man Tag Team Match;
Chris Jericho and The Dudley Boyz
vs. William Regal and Edge and Christian
This could really go either way but too many heels winning on the card so I guess these guys can take the victory just to even things out.

5. WWF European Championship Match;
If Eddie Guerrero wins he gets Lita’s managerial services
Eddie Guerrero (c) vs. Matt Hardy w/Lita
This can definately be different and entertaining for Lita to be alongside Latino Heat much like Chyna was in 2000. do it please.

2. Singles Match;
Jeff Hardy vs. Rhyno
Just a wild hunch, don't really care for either.

1. WWF Light Heavyweight Championship Match;
Crash Holly (c) vs. Jerry Lynn
Lynn > Holly.

7. WWF Women’s Championship Match;
Chyna (c) vs. Ivory

Bonus Questions
1. Predict the match order. Done
2. Who will get the winning fall in the main event? Austin
3. Who will take the losing fall in the main event? Kane
4. Will there be any dirty finishes? Probably Chairs/Sledgehammer involved in the main event
5. Will there be any surprise appearances? If so, who? Vince or Shane probably during the Main Event.

---

This thread has so far been going great, it's a fun but extremely difficult time period to take off from with so much possibilities to take into consideration and a stacked roster like no other. Though I am sure you can pull it off and make it work.

Peace.
