1/14/03 WWE Monday Night RAW
RAW comes on air with Shawn Michaels music hitting. The crowd goes wild for the Heartbreak Kid, who makes his way into the ring. Shawn thanks the crowd for all the support and says it has been a tough week for him. He says he had a chance to join the enemy and sell his soul permanently, but he likes to take on the enemy rather than be the enemy. He says he wants justice on Evolution and tonight is the beginning. He briefly gets into special times between him and Triple H and he says he will snap Hunter out of his funk and get him back to the man that everybody once loved, not a lunatic who thinks he is going to own the place one day. However, Shawn says there is a bigger problem and that is the actual chairman of the WWE. Shawn wants to know why when a legitimate threat talks about taking over the WWE, the chairman does nothing. Almost instantly, Mr. McMahon’s music hits.
Mr. McMahon makes his way down to the ring with a walk of urgency, but a look of confidence. Vince makes his way into the ring and Shawn looks at him with a lost look. Vince says it is okay what Evolution is doing because there is no way that a group of four superstars can logically take over the WWE. Vince says people have been there and done that. He says the result is always the same. He thanks Shawn for trying to stop them and he encourages Shawn to continue, but the threat is nonexistent. Shawn says he knows Triple H very personally and he knows that if Hunter wants to do something, he is going to do it. Vince says he knows him very well too and that absolutely nothing is going to happen. Shawn tells Vince that if something does happen, do not come to him asking for help. However, Shawn says he has one request. He asks Vince for a shot at Triple H at the Royal Rumble for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The crowd cheers, but as they cheer, Evolution’s music hits and all of Evolution make their way onto the stage. Vince smiles as they come out and tells them it is nice to see them. Triple H tells Vince to cut the introductions and get right to business. Vince starts to talk, but Triple H interrupts and says that last week Evolution made a statement against Shawn and how dare Shawn come out here and think he can actually beat him in a match this Sunday. Shawn says he is confident he can do it and Triple H just simply laughs. The crowd boos Triple H and Vince says he has a lot to think about and might mull over this for the night. Vince begins to leave and Shawn stops him and asks him how can he be proud of a company that has its World Champion as a traitor who wants to take over the company that Vince’s dad built. He says that the Vince McMahon from five years ago would tell Evolution to be with the program or they’ll hear the famous words: “You’re Fired.” Shawn tells Vince that he isn’t going to do that and that is because our chairman is now soft.
Vince gets furious and comes back in the ring. He gets into Shawn’s face and tells Shawn to shut the hell up. Vince says his balls are still here and he isn’t afraid to shake things up. He says he likes that Evolution is trying to shake things up, but obviously they aren’t going to. He says he likes a little competition, but what he doesn’t like is some punk who wears a cowboy hat telling him he doesn’t have it anymore. He says that he was going to give Shawn his title shot, but now he has to earn it. He says that tonight there will be a tag team match between Triple H and Ric Flair facing Shawn Michaels and Booker T. He says if Shawn wins, he will get his title shot. However, if he loses, he promises Shawn will never get a title shot again. Vince walks off, as RAW goes to commercial.
RAW comes back on air with Josh Mathews backstage with the Rock. Mathews asks the Rock about his match with Chris Jericho tonight. Rock says that nobody messes with the Great One and Jericho pushed the limits last week. Rock says that Orton was the only thing between him and Jericho last week and finally there will be nothing between the two. Rock says he is going to teach Jericho a lesson and after that he is going to head into the Royal Rumble this Sunday and send every man in front of him over the top rope and head to Wrestlemania because that IS what The Rock is cookin’.

RAW comes back on air with Rene Dupree looking at himself in the mirror and talking to himself in his native French. D’Von Dudley walks behind Dupree and looks at him with a perplexed look on his face. D’Von simply says what the hell and Dupree turns around with a smile on his face telling D’Von that he is jealous. D’Von asks what the hell he was doing and Dupree tells D’Von that he was practicing his poses for when he wins the Royal Rumble this Sunday and goes onto Wrestlemania to become the European World Champion everyone wants. D’Von shakes his head and tells Dupree that he is nuts and asks how can he win the Royal Rumble when he can’t even beat the Dudley Boyz? D’Von laughs and walks away, as Dupree is left angry.
Kane vs Christian vs Rob Van Dam; Triple Threat Match
Kane, Christian, and Rob Van Dam all are in the ring and all are looking for momentum going into the Royal Rumble this Sunday. They get Kane to the outside, when RVD gets Christian down and RVD hits a rolling thunder and hits the Frog Splash. RVD goes for the pin, but Kane breaks it up. RVD eventually keeps the momentum going and gets Christian and Kane down for the Frog Splash. He goes for it, but Kane moves and RVD only strikes Christian. Kane gets up and throws RVD out of the ring and Kane pins Christian for the win.
RAW comes back on air with Vince McMahon heading back to his limo. Vince is about to go into his limo when he hears somebody calling him to stop. Vince steps out and is met by Eric Bischoff. Bischoff says he isn’t happy about Shawn Michaels getting this title opportunity tonight and that it is his show. Vince asks Bischoff if he is questioning the bosses’ decision. Bischoff laughs that off and says no, but he had other plans for the show and that is why he is here; to run a grade A show. Vince tells him to relax and deal with other business like Evolution trying to take over RAW. Bischoff seems confused and tells Vince that he thought Evolution was trying to take over the WWE, not just RAW. Vince laughs and begins to walk into his limo and tells Bischoff that they can’t take over the WWE unless they take over RAW. Vince leaves and we go ringside.
The Rock vs Chris Jericho; Singles Match
These two rivals make their way into the ring and are focused to beat one another. Rock and Jericho stay with their respective game plans. Jericho works the Rock’s lower back and Rock works Jericho’s right arm. Jericho tries to get the Walls of Jericho, but is countered and thrown outside the ring. Rock comes out to the outside, but Jericho sets him up and throws Rock back-first into the steel steps. Rock is hurting and is put in the Walls of Jericho later. Rock is put in it for a long time, but gets to the ropes. Jericho is frustrated and gets sloppy, allowing Rock to almost win on a rollup. Rock gets momentum with Jericho missing the Lionsault and Rock hits the spinebuster to set up the People’s Elbow. Rock hits it and goes for the Rock Bottom when Jericho gets up, which connects. Rock goes for the pin and gets the three count.

RAW comes back on air with Jericho backstage walking back from the match in pure disappointment. He walks past Bubba Ray and D’Von Dudley. Both men talk about how they are going to win the Rumble. They end up getting to the point of that only one of them can win the Rumble and what if it gets down to those two at the end. Bubba and D’Von look a little upset, but says they would fight it out and the best man would win. Bubba jokes around and says that if D’Von wins, he would probably have to put him through a table after the match. They laugh, but Rene Dupree comes running behind Bubba and knocks him down with a headshot. D’Von and Rene share right hands until Rene hits a DDT to D’Von onto the walkway and Rene walks away satisfied, as we go ringside.
Randy Orton vs Goldberg; Singles Match
Randy Orton is out in the ring and has to endure the intimidating Goldberg entrance. Goldberg comes out pumped and is obviously a favorite to win the Royal Rumble. At the crack of the bell, Orton goes to the outside of the ring. However, Goldberg follows him and ends up chasing Orton back into the ring. Goldberg dominates the match, but Orton undoes the turnbuckle pad and tries to get Goldberg to run into the exposed turnbuckle. Orton tries to Irish Whip Goldberg from one corner to the exposed corner, but Goldberg counters the whip and whips Orton into the exposed corner. Orton hits it hard and turns around into a Goldberg spear for the three count.
Batista comes from the back and runs into the ring. He goes one on one with Goldberg, sharing right hands. Goldberg gets the upperhand on Batista and goes for the spear, but Orton sneaks up behind Goldberg and hits him with a low blow. Goldberg goes down and Batista hits the Batista Bomb on Goldberg to send RAW to commercial.

All men look at each other with some sort of intensity except for Booker T, who isn’t a part of this rival, but is looking for momentum going into the Royal Rumble. Booker T and Triple H start off the match. Triple H works Booker and tags in Flair to stay fresh. They continue to work Booker using cheap tactics, but they work. Booker ends up countering a Flair knee to the gut with a spinebuster and both men go for the tag. Triple H and Shawn Michaels go at each other and the crowd is on their feet. Shawn works Triple H into the corner, but Flair tags himself in. Shawn and Flair go at it for a good amount of time. Shawn will not let Flair tag into Triple H. Shawn sets up Flair for a Sweet Chin Music. Triple H goes to interfere, but Booker comes out of nowhere and clotheslines himself and Triple H over the top rope. Shawn hits the Sweet Chin Music on Flair and goes for the three count, which he gets.
