Well I can't wait to see Heat but also here is hoping at the Royal Rumble pay per view before the actual Royal Rumble Match starts, we get to hear from some of the 30 men who will be participating in the night's Royal Rumble getting their thoughts on why they are going to win the match and then we can truly begin the Road to WrestleMania 29 that is

Sunday Night Heat (Royal Rumble pre-show) - 27th January 2013

Heat begins with the Rumble By Numbers promotional video for the Royal Rumble match, before transitioning into a separate video package summarising the Brock Lesnar / John Cena feud. Live in the arena, the Royal Rumble theme music is playing and the camera pans the cheering crowd. The camera shifts to ringside where Josh Matthews and Matt Striker are on commentary.

Matthews: "We are 45 minutes away from the most eagerly-anticipated Royal Rumble pay-per-view of all time, welcome everyone to the return of Sunday Night Heat live from the US Airways Centre in Phoenix Arizona! Myself Josh Matthews and my broadcast colleague Matt Striker here to bring you a preview of what to expect tonight, plus a couple of exciting match-ups here."

Striker: "It's the most unpredictable night of the year, there will be surprises galore tonight! It's great to have Sunday Night Heat back, and we're not going to disappoint tonight!"

The ringbell is heard and Justin Roberts stands in the middle of the ring.

Roberts: "Ladies and gentlemen your opening contest is a tag team match scheduled for one fall!"

The Usos are first out, making their tribal entrance to cheers from the fans.

Striker: "Kicking things off with tag team action tonight, you've got to believe the winners of this match will be keeping a close eye on the Tag Team Championship match-up at the Royal Rumble tonight."

Matthews: "That's right Matt, Tag Champions Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara defending against former champions the Prime Time Players."

Striker: "How big would a win for the Usos be tonight Josh, potentially putting them in the Tag Title hunt?"

Matthews: "The Usos have been in WWE for a long time, yet have never won the Championships. They're hungry for gold, step one on that road is tonight on Heat."

Epico and Primo's music then hits and the crowd boo as they make their entrance.

Striker: "Unlike Epico and Primo, they are former Tag Team Champions who have drifted away from the title picture of late. A win for them puts them back in contention."

In a basic tag team match, The Colons have the early-going by singling out Jey Uso and beating him down. Jey makes the hot tag to Jimmy at the 5 minute mark and The Usos take advantage, getting the win with a Samoan Drop / Top Rope Splash combination.

The Usos (Jimmy & Jey) def. Epico & Primo

Striker: "Huge wins for the Uso brothers to kick off Sunday Night Heat!"

As The Usos celebrate their victory we transition backstage into the locker room arena. The camera pands out to reveal The Rock in his gear, who is sliding his elbow pads into place as he gets ready for his match tonight. In walks Mick Foley, who enters the locker room and gives The Rock a hug.

Rock: "Hey Mick! How's it going?"

Foley: "Ah you know, the head's still a little sore from Monday, but I couldn't miss the chance to see you become WWE Champion tonight! Are you ready?"

Rock: "You know me Mick, I was born ready, I'm ready to bring it."

Foley: "Well look, I know you're more than capable of defeating CM Punk tonight. But you know that slimy weasel Paul Heyman is going to be at ringside doing all he can to stop that from happening... that's why I'm going to be in your corner tonight, making sure Heyman doesn't get involved!"

Rock: "Mick you don't have to do that, The Rock knew what he was signing up for when he took this match."

Foley: "I insist. See ya out there."

The pair share a smile and shake hands before we return to ringside with Striker and Matthews.

Matthews: "Major news here on Sunday Night Heat, Mick Foley will be in The Rock's corner in his WWE Championship match against CM Punk tonight!"

Striker: "And that may just have swung things in The Rock's favour, we have seen Paul Heyman be the difference in Punk's matches in the past, with Mick Foley cancelling out the threat of Heyman interfering it comes down to a straight contest between Rock and Punk."

Matthews: "It's a 50-50 call if you ask me, CM Punk has an outstanding track record and has defended against some of the biggest names in our industry."

Striker: "Of course the WWE Championship is just one of four titles on the line tonight, we can now join Scott Stanford backstage with the World Heavyweight Champion the Big Show."

Backstage, Stanford begins to introduce Big Show, but the Giant snatches the microphone and orders him to leave. Show stares into the camera.

Show: "Tonight I am angry. Let me tell you why. I was backstage preparing for my title defence tonight when I happened to glance at the program for the Royal Rumble show tonight. I flick through the pages waiting to see what they've written about the most dominant World Heavyweight Champion in history, and do you know what I saw? Right there in front of me, nothing about the Big Show, just a stupid piece about Randy Orton's quest to become a ten-time World Champion. Let me tell you right now, if I wasn't angry enough about having to defend my title against two men tonight, if I wasn't angry enough about not having to be beaten to lose my title, I am furious now. All you Randy Orton fans are going to watch this show and end up disappointed, because all that is going to happen is Big Show knocking out your hero and retaining the World Heavyweight Championship."

Show punches out the camera, which sends the screen to black. We return to the arena, where Cody Rhodes's music hits to boos from the crowd.

Matthews: "Big Show clearly unhappy."

Striker: "And who can blame him? Show has dominated the World Title picture since becoming Champion at TLC. He already feels disrespected after been put in the triple threat tonight, sometimes it can be the small things that tip a man over the edge."

Matthews: "Well right now we've got singles action between Cody Rhodes and Christian, a match that came about as a result of Christian interrupting Cody's new show Grooming With Cody this past Friday Night on SmackDown."

A replay of the incident is shown; Cody is giving grooming advise to the crowd when Christian interrupts and delivers a Spear. Back live, Cody is completing his entrance. Christian's music then hits to cheers from the crowd, and the announcers speak as he makes his way to the ring.

Striker: "What a great main event for the reintroduction of Sunday Night Heat, remember it was only last year that these two men were feuding over the Intercontinental Championship."

Matthews: "Don't forget folks we're still expecting Chairman Of The Board Mr McMahon to appear live on Heat to address Brock Lesnar's attacks on Jerry Lawler and Booker T."

In an impressive ten minute match, both men go back and forth trading offence. The ending sequence sees Christian attempting a Spear, Rhodes avoiding the contact and rolling Christian up from behind. Christian powers out, and as both men get to their feet Christian hits a Spear out of nowhere for the win.

Christian def. Cody Rhodes

Christian celebrates in the ring as the announcers feed backstage, where Scott Stanford is standing by for another interview.

Stanford: "Ladies and gentlemen my guest at this time is a man with a lot riding on the outcomes of both the Royal Rumble match and the WWE Championship match tonight, Mr Paul Heyman."

Heyman walks into shot and the crowd are heard booing.

Stanford: "Mr Heyman, we are moments away from the Chairman Of The Board taking to the ring to discuss the actions of your client. Are you fearful of what Mr McMahon has to say?"

Heyman: "Fearful? When you are representing Brock Lesnar there isn't a single thing in the world to be fearful of. Brock Lesnar attacked Jerry Lawler and Booker T to prove that he is not scared of authority, that includes our illustrious chairman. And even if I did want Brock to hold back, to show some compassion, to leave those men alone, do you think he would listen to me? Brock Lesnar does what he wants to whoever he wants, he is not fearful of consequence, he just enjoys hurting people. That is what makes him the most intriguing Royal Rumble entrant in history. Unlike the other 29 entrants, Brock Lesnar is not motivated by the prospect of main eventing WrestleMania. If he wants to do that, he knows he can demand that because he is the biggest draw in this organistation, whenever he fights this company makes money. No, instead Brock Lesnar is only motivated by the prospect of hurting 29 other men. And that's exactly what he is going to do."

Standford: "And what of your other client, the WWE Champion CM Punk, how is he feeling going into the biggest match of his career?"

Heyman: "CM Punk is relaxed, he is ready to go out there and prove why he is the best in the world. There was once a time when the best in the world was The Rock, but that times has passed, things have changed. Tonight you will see CM Punk put the Attitude Era to rest once and for all."

Stanford: "That will have to be all Mr Heyman, I'm receiving word that Mr McMahon is headed to the ring!"

Live in the arena, Mr McMahon's music hits and the crowd erupts with cheers. After a short delay, McMahon enters through the curtain with his usual power-walk.

Matthews: "He has seen the general managers of Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown attacked by Brock Lesnar, the Chairman Of The Board is headed to the ring!"

Striker: "And if there is one authority figure the world should be afraid of it is this man!"

McMahon enters the ring and waits out the cheers before beginning.

McMahon: "Phoenix, are you ready for the biggest Royal Rumble event in history?"

The crowd cheer again before Vince continues.

McMahon: "I hope you're ready, because tonight will be monumental. It will be one of those events that you just can't wait to order on DVD, that you will replay for decades to come, and you people in attendance tonight will tell the story of how you were there for the 2013 Royal Rumble!"

Vince is interrupted by Brock Lesnar's music, which sends the crowd wild. Vince has a concerned look on his face as Brock, dressed in his wrestling gear, appears on the stage. He hops on the spot in trademark fashion before heading to the ring, where Vince is standing his ground.

Matthews: "I don't like the look of this at all, we saw what happened to Booker T and Jerry Lawler, Vince it isn't safe, get the hell out of there!"

Brock enters the ring and walks around Vince, who at this stage is looking scared.

McMahon: "Don't do something you're going to regret."

Lesnar laughs the comment off before feigning to exit the ring. Lesnar suddenly explodes at Vince, raising up for the F5! The crowd boo loudly.

Matthews: "Oh my God not Vince, this is too far!"

Lesnar drops Vince with a thunderous F5 which sends the crowd wild. Lesnar stands tall and smiles into hard camera as Heat goes off the air five minutes prior to the Royal Rumble PPV beginning.

I loved Heat, definitely loved the matches before Sunday Night Heat and I hope you continue Sunday Night Heat when it comes to each and every pay per view but as for the matches themselves, I loved The Usos beating Epico and Primo

And I definitely loved that Mick Foley is in attendance for the Rumble pay per view but that he is going to be in Rock's corner when Rock foces off against Punk, it evens the playing field because Heyman is in Punk's corner so to have Foley in Rock's corner it evens up the playing field

Loved Christian beating Cody Rhodes

And I loved Brock Lesnar F5ing Vince, it makes me wonder if Triple H will be on his way back to avenge his father-in-law

WWE Royal Rumble - Sunday 27 January 2013

The 2013 Royal Rumble begins with a video package. A black and white camera shot shows alternate wrestlers as they answer the question "what does winning the 2013 Royal Rumble match mean to you?"

Ryback: "A main event match at WrestleMania 29."

Kane: "Breaking Shawn Michaels's record."

Kofi Kingston: "Creating a memory that will last a lifetime."

Wade Barrett: "A major championship opportunity."

Dolph Ziggler: "Stealing the show."

Alberto Del Rio: "Fulfilling my destiny."

Big E Langston: "Making a lasting impression."

The Miz: "Getting back to the top."

Sheamus: "Back-to-back success."

Brock Lesnar: "Bringing the pain."

John Cena: "Redemption."

We then transition into a video package on the Brock Lesnar / John Cena feud: Cena is desperate for a second chance to face The Rock, but that dream was stolen from him when Brock Lesnar returned and set his sights on Cena. Lesnar is entering the Rumble match with a simple objective; hurt people. For Cena, winning the Royal Rumble gives him the opportunity to face The Rock at WrestleMania 29...

... if he can defeat CM Punk tonight. The video transitions onto the feud between Rock and Punk. Punk feels disrespected that a "part-time" guy who is "more interested in movies and red carpets" gets a shot on the title that he made special again. The Rock has returned to achieve something he is yet to accomplish; successfully defend the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. Punk attacked Rock with a steel pipe, but Rock had the upper-hand last week when he returned and dropped Punk with the People's Elbow.

The video package ends with the image of Rock holding Punk's title up high as the narrator says: "The Road to WrestleMania starts here."

Live in the arena, a large pyro display shoots and the crowd cheers loudly. The Royal Rumble theme song plays as the camera pans the crowd.

Michael Cole: "It is perhaps the most eagerly-anticipated Royal Rumble pay-per-view of all time, welcome ladies and gentlemen to the US Airways Center in Phoenix Arizona! Myself Michael Cole joined by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross and John Bradshaw Layfield at ringside, guys it's going to be one hell of a night."

JBL: “You’re not wrong Cole, an amazing card for the 2013 Royal Rumble event, I can’t wait to get things going!”

JR: “Can The Rock capture the WWE Championship in his first title match in a decade? Will CM Punk’s reign go past 434 days? Will John Cena get on the road to redemption, or will Brock Lesnar continue to dominate all in his way?”

Cole: “So many questions to be answered on what is sure to be an exciting night, let’s get things going!”

The ringbell sounds and we see Lillian Garcia in the ring.

Garcia: “The following is a triple threat match, and it is for the World Heavyweight Championship!”

The crowd cheer the announcement before Randy Orton’s music hits to a big reaction from the crowd. The Viper appears fired up as he makes his way to the ring.

Garcia: “Introducing first, from St Louis Missouri, he is the Apex Predator… Randy Orton!”

Cole: “Bidding to become a 10-time World Champion here tonight, guys Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan have a unique strategy tonight.”

JBL: “They have put the World Champion at a complete disadvantage, openly admitting that their chances of becoming champion would be increased if they could remove Show from the equation and go at it between themselves.”

JR: “And that’s why Big Show is so unhappy, he knows he doesn’t have to be beaten to lose his title tonight.”

Cole: “He’s held the title since Hell In A Cell, and in singles competition he has been untouchable. Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan make no secret of their desire to get Show out of the picture, the question is how they’re going to achieve that.”

Orton completes his entrance before Bryan’s music hits to the usual loud Yes/No chants. Bryan makes his way to the ring in trademark fashion as the announcers continue.

Garcia: “His opponent, from Aberdeen Washington, Daniel Bryan!”

JR: “This time last year this man was the World Heavyweight Champion and he successfully defended in a triple threat match involving the Big Show, so if anybody knows how to get the tactics right in this situation it’s Daniel Bryan.”

Cole: “Bryan came close to becoming champion at TLC but ended up on the wrong end of a WMD from Show, guys when Show can deliver such a devastating blow out of nowhere it is by no means guaranteed that Bryan and Orton will be able to execute their plan.”

JBL: “I couldn’t agree more, I don’t think Show will lose his title tonight. I don’t think Orton and Bryan will be able to stay on the same page without one of them trying to double-cross the other to become champion, I think that’s what Show will be looking to take advantage of tonight.”

Bryan and Orton appear to be talking strategy in the ring when Big Show’s music hits

Garcia: “And their opponent, standing at seven feet tall, he is the World Heavyweight Champion… The Big Show.”

The crowd boo as Show angrily makes his way to the ring. He is cut off by a surprise suicide dive by Daniel Bryan, which gets a loud cheer from the crowd. The bell sounds to begin the match. Orton exits the ring to help Bryan work over Show on the outside, but the two on one advantage doesn’t last long as Show over-powers a double-suplex attempt to deliver a suplex to Orton and Bryan at the same time. Show enters the ring and stands dominant, yelling at the fallen pair to come and get some.

For the next five minutes, Orton and Bryan try many different methods of double-teaming Show but can’t get the upper-hand. The turning point comes when the pair execute a double-drop kick that sends Show crashing out of the ring. Bryan makes as if to attempt a second suicide dive, but as he rebounds off the ropes he is met by a snap powerslam by Orton that gets a big reaction from the crowd. Orton goes for the cover but only gets the 2.

JBL: “I told you guys, there’s no way these two can keep to the strategy they had planned, Orton highlighting that it truly is every man for himself.”

As Bryan gets to his feet, Orton attempts an RKO but this is swiftly countered into the No Lock. The crowd cheer as the announcers yell that it’s over, but Show re-enters the ring and breaks up the count at 2. Show beats down both men for a further five minutes, drawing heat from the crowd.

At 13 minutes, Show looks to perform a double-chokeslam on both men, but Orton hits Show with a low blow and they successfully execute a double-suplex. Show rolls out of the ring, and rather than fight amongst themselves Orton and Bryan agree to follow him to the outside. The pair deliver several kicks to a grounded show, before Orton tells Bryan to get weapons! The crowd cheers as Bryan brings over two chairs; Orton and Bryan go crazy delivering a series of vicious chair shots to Show. Show looks out of it at ringside, Orton and Bryan share a look as if to say that it’s time for them to get down to business. They each deliver one more chair shot to Show before re-entering the ring.

Orton and Bryan trade blows as the crowd is hot for the match, unsure which man they want to win so cheering the solid action on display. Orton takes control and backs Randy into the corner to attempt a trademark superplex, but Bryan kicks Orton away before delivering a Missile Dropkick. The crowd think it’s over as Bryan goes for the pin, but Orton powers out at 2!

JR: “What a match, what action between these two men.”

Cole: “Show still hasn’t moved guys, but these two need to hurry things up if they want to get it done without defeating the Giant.”

Bryan begins a series of kicks to the chest of Orton before delivering a final stiff blow to the head. Rather than going for the pin, Bryan once again climbs to the top rope. He attempts a flying headbut, but Orton sends the crowd wild when he pops to his feet to deliver a mid-air RKO. Show is shown groggily getting to his feet in the background as Orton pins Bryan for the win!

Randy Orton def. Big Show (c) & Daniel Bryan to become World Heavyweight Champion

Garcia: “Here is your winner… and the NEW World Heavyweight Champion… Randy Orton!”

Cole: “Oh my God did you see that!? An RKO to Bryan in mid-air, Orton takes the title.”

JBL: “And there was nothing Big Show could do about it, Orton is a ten time World Champion!”

Show is beside himself in grief at ringside as he comes to realize what has happened. Orton takes the World Title belt and celebrate on the turnbuckle, taunting Show at ringside. Show is furious, he enters the ring and attempts a WMD. Orton ducks the move and catches Show with an RKO, drawing more cheers from the crowd.

JR: “RKO! RKO to Show! What an effort from Orton, what a match, what a win for The Viper!”

Cole: “We have a new World Heavyweight Champion to kick off the Royal Rumble.”

JBL: “Well don’t get too excited just yet Michael, Show is entitled to a rematch and you know he’s going to want that title back.”

Orton’s music plays as he once again celebrates at the turnbuckle, the crowd cheering as he soaks in the moment. The camera shifts to the announcers at ringside as Orton's music continues in the background.

Cole: “Well folks we've started the night off in dramatic style, but things got going a little earlier than you may be used to as we saw the reintroduction of Sunday Night Heat, and the debut of our new show did not go by without incident.”

As the announcers discuss the events from Heat, replays of the incidents are shown.

Cole: “We kicked things off with The Usos picking up a win over former Tag Team Champions Epico and Primo, before finding out that Mick Foley will accompany The Rock to the ring tonight. In a grudge match, Christian picked up a win against Cody Rhodes, but guys the events at the end of the show left the WWE Universe speechless.”

JR: “That's right Michael, Brock Lesnar continued his attacks on WWE management by delivering an F5 to the Chairman of WWE, Mr McMahon.”

Cole: “McMahon has been transferred to a nearby medical facility, but obviously a man of McMahon's age is going to be hurt when they're attacked by Brock Lesnar.”

JBL: “A man of anybody's age is going to get hurt when they're attacked by Brock Lesnar Michael, the other 29 Royal Rumble entrants should be very afraid.”

Cole: “SmackDown assistant GM Teddy Long once again finds himself in control, Raw GM Jerry Lawler and SmackDown's Booker T still out after similar attacks from Lesnar.”

We transition to the locker room backstage, where Cody Rhodes looks dejected. In walks Damien Sandow with a big smile on his face.

Sandow: “Cody, my dear friend, tonight is not a night for glum faces. Tonight I, Damien Sandow, usher in a new era, the era of Excellence! I thought you may be excited for me?”

Rhodes: “I am Damien, I'm just feeling down, I lost my match against Christian on Heat. Things aren't going so great for me right now. I should be in title matches too!”

Sandow: “Then correct your wrongdoings good sir. You are entering the Royal Rumble match tonight are you not?”

Rhodes: “Yeah...”

Sandow: “Then put your disappointing defeat behind you, win the Royal Rumble match, and we can have a best friend celebration together later tonight as United States Champion and Royal Rumble winner.”

Cody smiles and the pair hug. We transition back live in the arena, where Justin Roberts is stood in the middle of the ring as the bell sounds.

Roberts: “The following match is scheduled for one fall, and it is for the WWE Tag Team Championships!”

The Prime Time Players are first out to boos from the crowd, they make their way to the ring as the announcers speak.

JBL: “Cody and Damien looking for singles success after holding the Tag Titles as a team not so long ago, I think it's great that they're still best friends.”

Cole: “Titus O'Neil and Darren Young's friendship seems unaffected despite one of the shortest Tag Team Championship reigns in recent history...”

A replay of events shows as they continue.

Cole: “It was two weeks ago on SmackDown, Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio with some communication issues, Titus and Young capitalise to take the Tag Team Championships. But just a week later, The Luchadors won their rematch to reclaim the championhips.”

JBL: “The Prime Time Players have a point to prove here tonight, can they become two-time champions?”

JR: “Well after The Usos won on Heat earlier, competition for the Tag Title is really hotting up.”

Rey Mysterio's music hits to cheers from the crowd, pyro shoots and The Luchadors make their entrance.

Cole: “For Rey Mysterio it's all about mentoring his partner Sin Cara, as a former World Champion is the best man for the job as far as I'm concerned.”

JBL: “They're by no means the perfect team, they still make mistakes, but when they're at their best and hitting those high-flying moves there's not many people who can stop them.”

O'Neil dominates the first few minutes of the match, using his power advantage to beat dow Sin Cara. Rey is tagged in, but is also stopped by O'Neil's strength. At the 6 minute mark, Darren Young is the legal man but is caught off-guard when Rey connects with a hurricanrana. He makes the hot tag to Sin Cara, who hits an array of high-flying moves before making the pin, only to see it broken up by Titus. Mysterio dropkicks Titus out of the ring and follows up with a top-rope splash to the outside, leaving Sin Cara and Young as the legal men. Young attempts his Gutbuster finisher, but Sin Cara counters and manages to leave Young draped across the middle rope. The crowd pop when Sin Cara follows up with a 619, before finishing Young off with a Swanton Bomb.

Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara (c) def. Prime Time Players (Darren Young & Titus O'Neil) to retain the Tag Team Championships.

JR: “Sin Cara picks up the win for his team!”

JBL: “We talked at the start of the match about Sin Cara learning from Rey, I don't think anyone expected him to use the 619 though!”

Cole: “Rey and Sin Cara get the victory and retain the Tag Team Championships, what next for this high-flying pair?”

We go backstage, where the cameraman is following an angry Big Show. Show is throwing objects around backstage before reaching the Vince McMahon's office. He bursts through the door to find Stephanie, which gets a cheer from the crowd.

Stephanie: “Do you mind knocking?”

Show: “Whatever, where's Vince?”

Stephanie: “He's at the hospital. I am an executive of this company Show, if there's something you need? Otherwise you need to leave, it's an important night and I've got things to do.”

Show: “Something I need? Yeah, you're damn right there's something I need, I just had the World Heavyweight Championship stolen from me and I need my rematch tonight!”

Stephanie: “Tonight? I'm afraid I can't allow that Show, the card is already stacked, there's just no time...”

Show: “... Tomorrow then, I want me rematch tomorrow night on Raw, I want Randy Orton knocked out tomorrow.”

Stephanie: “Wait a minute, you don't just come in here and tell me what's happening. I'll give you a choice Show, you can have your rematch against Randy Orton on Raw tomorrow night... but there is a condition...”

Show: “Name it.”

Stephanie: “If you fail to reclaim the title, you are barred from competing for the World Heavyweight Championship until after WrestleMania.”

Show: “What?”

Stephanie: “The choice is yours Show, if you want the match early that's the clause.”

Show: “That's fine, you have a deal. I wasn't beat tonight, Randy Orton beat Daniel Bryan to steal my title. Randy knows he can't beat me, tomorrow night I take back what is mine.”

Show exits before Stephanie's phone rings.

Stephanie: “Hello? Hey! Listen, you think you'll make it down here on time tonight? We've had a bit of a situation... it's about Dad.”

Steph closes the door to prevent any more of the call been heard and we head back to ringside, where the camera is once again on the announcers.

Cole: “Did you heard that guys? Big Show versus Orton for the World Title tomorrow night!”

JBL: “It's going to be one of the shortest World Title reigns of all time, Randy can't beat The Big Show, especially an angry Big Show who is hell-bent on hurting him and becoming champion again.”

Cole: “Still to come tonight folks is of course the Royal Rumble match itself, and for one person in particular, winning the Rumble match could be the start of a road to redemption.”

We feed to a video package on John Cena. In order, clips from the following are shown:
  • The Rock hits a Rock Bottom on Cena and pins him at WrestleMania 28.
  • Brock Lesnar returns and delivers an F5 to Cena.
  • John Laurinitis pins Cena at Over The Limit.
  • CM Punk pins Cena at SummerSlam.

As the clips are showing, Cena's voice is heard.

Cena: “One defeat. That one defeat sent my career into a downward spiral that I need to stop. And the only way to stop it, is to correct that defeat. At WrestleMania 29... I need redemption.”

We are then shown a replay of Lesnar attacking Cena upon his return at TLC, with Paul Heyman's voice narrating.

Heyman: “Brock Lesnar wants revenge for your fluke victory at Extreme Rules. Brock Lesnar is not happy just defeating you John, he wants to make your life miserable. As long as you are breathing the same air as Brock Lesnar, he will not allow you anywhere near the WWE Championship again.”

We are shown a replay of Cena declaring his entry into the 2013 Rumble and Heyman saying Brock will enter too, before rapid fire clips are shown of the pair's recent brawls. We end with a slow motion replay of Cena facing up to Rock from this Friday's SmackDown, with Cena's voice narrating.

Cena: “No matter what it takes, no matter what the cost, I will get a second chance, I will defeat The Rock, I will get redemption.”

Back at ringside, the camera is still on the announcers.

JR: “It's going to be no walk in the park, the Royal Rumble will be John Cena's first match since Brock Lesnar almost broke his neck back in December. Can he pick up his second Royal Rumble win?”

JBL: “This is all well and good JR but when happens if Cena wins the Rumble but Rock loses to Punk tonight? Everyone is assuming Rock just takes the title without any bother.”

JR: “I don't think that at all, I think our main even tonight is going to be one of the closest matches of all time as a matter of fact.”

Damien Sandow's music hits to boos and the ringbell sounds.

Garcia: “The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the United States Championship! Introducing first, the challengers, he is the self-professed intellectual saviour of the masses... Damien Sandow!”

Sandow appears sporting a new red robe with blue and white trim and he confidently makes his way to the ring.

Cole: “Damien Sandow has been on a a major roll since Team Rhodes Scholars parted ways, he has set his sights on Zack Ryder claiming that he is unworthy of holding championship gold.”

JBL: “And look, Damien's got a new robe! Red white and blue, he's serious about becoming United States Champion.”

The crowd boo again as Sandow poses in the ring, but the boos turn to cheers when Zack Ryder's music hits.

Garcia: “And his opponent, from the LI, he is the United States Champion... Zack Ryder!”

Ryder appears with the belt in one hand and his mid-section heavily bandaged.

Cole: “I do not fancy Ryder's odds here tonight gentlemen, Ryder clearly hurt after taking a severe beating at the hands of Big E Langston on Raw, you see there his stomach heavily taped as a result of Langston's Big Ending.”

JBL: “Which is why I'm backing Langston to win the Rumble here tonight, in his first week in WWE he has defeated the US Champion and a former World Champion in the Great Khali.”

JR: “We heard Sandow this week talking about using his intelligence to target Ryder's injuries, I mean Ryder can't even put the belt around his waist here, he's clearly not at 100%.”

Ryder completes his entrance but is immediately attacked by Sandow, who delivers several vicious knee strikers to Ryder before the bell sounds. The ref orders Sandow back to his corner and checks on Ryder. Ryder struggles to get to his feet, having to pull himself up on the ropes. The ref tells Ryder if he's hurt not to take the match, but Ryder yells ring the bell and runs at Sandow. The bell sounds and Ryder delivers a flying forearm to Sandow in the corner, drawing cheers from the crowd. Ryder beats on Sandow, who falls to the mat and into position for the Broski Boot. Ryder connects and goes for the cover, but Sandow kicks out and rolls out of the ring to catch his breath.

The crowd is into the match, the ref orders Ryder back to allow Sandow into the ring and the pair lock horns. Sandow takes the advantage with more knees to the midsection, and spends the next 3 minutes beating down Ryder in confident fashion. Despite several near-falls, Ryder keeps kicking out. Sandow begins to lose his composure, and Ryder manages to make the comeback with a big dropkick. Ryder rallies and delivers some signature offense before lining Sandow up for the Rough Ryder. Ryder makes the jump, but Sandow counters into a powerbomb. He calmly gets to his feet, picks up Ryder and delivers the Terminus. The crowd boo and the ref counts the three.

Damien Sandow def. Zack Ryder (c) to become United States Champion

Sandow celebrates in over-dramatic style, demanding the title belt as Ryder lays on the floor clutching his injured stomach.

Cole: “The era of excellence has begun!”

JR: “What a brave effort from Zack Ryder...”

JBL: “Brave my ass Jim, Zack Ryder is the biggest dork on the planet, I'm delighted a real man has won the title.”

As Sandow continues to celebrate in dramatic fashion, the crowd boos get louder. He lays the title belt on the mat and performs a cartwheel, before holding the title above his head and yelling “you're welcome” at the crowd.

We transition backstage where Scott Stanford is in the interview area.

Stanford: “Ladies and gentlemen my guest at the this time is the new World Heavyweight Champion... Randy Orton.”

Orton appears with title across his shoulder.

Stanford: “Randy how does it feel to know that less than 24 hours after becoming a ten-time World Champion you will defend against the Big Show.”

Orton: “Tomorrow night promises to be one of the most important nights of my career. But something changes when you have this title in your hands, suddenly you feel like you can beat anyone in the world. So tomorrow night, hell I'm looking forward to it.”

The Miz is heard in the background and he walks into shot with the Intercontinental Title across his shoulder.

Miz: “Really? Really? You got lucky tonight, you didn't even beat the champion! Tonight I will win the Royal Rumble match and earn a championship match at WrestleMania 29. If you somehow manage to hold the title until then, you're going to be defending against the Intercontinental Champion. I will beat you, I will simultaneously hold the World Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships, and it will be awesome!”

Orton and Miz go eye to eye. Orton smiles, pats Miz on the shoulder and sarcastically wishes him luck.

Back live at ringside, the camera is on the announcers.

Cole: “What an incredible night so far here at the 2013 Royal Rumble, two championships have already changed hands.”

JR: “And we're still to see the WWE Championship defended in the main event.”

Cole: “But now it's time, we've been looking forward to this for weeks, it's time for the 2013 Royal Rumble match!”

The Royal Rumble By Numbers traditional video airs, highlighting the Cena vs Lesnar feud that has dominated the run-in. Back live in the arena, the crowd are cheering as Justin Roberts stands in the ring.

Roberts: “Ladies and gentlemen it is time for the 2013 Royal Rumble match!”

Roberts then goes on to explain the rules before Ryback's music hits to cheers from the crowd. They chant Feed Me More as Ryback makes his traditional entrance.

Roberts: “Introducing the superstar who will enter at number one; from Sin City... Ryback!”

JBL: “He would have been one of the favourites in my eyes, but for some bizarre reason he has selected number one when he was given the chance to pick his own entry number!”

JR: “He's still a contender John, but I have to agree that he's made a strange choice.”

Alberto Del Rio's music then hits and the crowd is loud with boos.

Roberts: “And the superstar who enters at number two; from Mexico... Alberto Del Rio!”

Del Rio appears on the stage and gingerly makes his way to the ring.

Cole: “The winner of the only 40-man Royal Rumble in history, this is only his second Royal Rumble match, guys what do you make of Alberto Del Rio's chances?”

JBL: “I'd rate them a little higher if the guy would actually get in the ring, what the hell is he doing?”

Del Rio refuses to enter the ring, drawing loud boos from the crowd. Ryback has had enough and exits the ring under the bottom rope. He chases down Del Rio and flattens with with a clothesline. He picks Del Rio up over his shoulder, rolls him into the ring and re-enters the ring. The bell sounds to begin the Royal Rumble match.

Del Rio crotches Ryback with a low blow to take advantage, and he begins to stomp away at Ryback. He then applies the Cross Arm-Breaker and the crowd boo again.

JR: “Del Rio with the submission on Ryback...”

JBL: “He knows that if he takes the arm out of action it's going to be hard for Ryback to lift him over the top rope, brilliant strategy from Del Rio.”

The countdown begins from then and crowd count along as it hits 0 and a claxon sounds...

3 – John Morrison

The crowd explodes with cheers as Morrison's music hits.

Cole: “Could it be? Yes it is, John Morrison is back!”

Morrison appears on stage and his traditional slow-mo pyro hits. He removes his jackets and sprints to the ring, hops the aprong and performs a slingshot kick to Del Rio. The crowd is hot for Morrison and he powerslams Del Rio and follows up with Starship Pain. Morrison then runs into a Meathook from a groggy Ryback, all three men are down as the countdown begins again.

4 – Ted DiBiase

DiBiase makes his way to the ring to the sound of boos and foolishly targets Ryback. He attemps Dreamstreet, but Ryback over-powers him and clotheslines him out of the ring to get the first elimination. As Ryback chants Feed Me More, Del Rio dropkicks him from behind. Ryback goes out of the ring through the middle rope and Del Rio follows him, driving Ryback into the ring steps.

Del Rio reenters the ring to begin trading blows with Morrison. Morrison has the advantage and again goes for Starship Pain, but Del Rio kicks the bottom rope and makes Morrison lose his balance. Del Rio yells destiny and stands in the ring with his arms held high as the clock counts down.

Cole: “Please do it! Please do it!”

Scotty signals for the Worm and the area is loud with cheers as Scotty connects with the Worm. Rikishi and Scotty pick Del Rio up and throw him over the top rope together, drawing cheers from the crowd.

JR: “It's like the 90s all over again, 2 Cool teaming up to eliminate Del Rio!”

Cole: “We've already had three eliminations, folks Ryback remains down on the outside here but he was not thrown over the top rope, he is still in this thing.”

As the announcers are speaking, the clock hits zero.

7 – Heath Slater

Boos for Slater who enters the ring and mocks 2 Cool's dance moves. 2 Cool don't take kindly to this, double-teaming Slater for several minutes before the clock counts down.

8 – Brodus Clay

A decent cheer for Brodus, who dances his way to the ring.

JBL: “Is this the Royal Rumble or a damn dance-off?”

JR: “Brodus and Rikishi, just be glad it's not a swimsuit contest.”

Rather than go for Rikishi or Scotty, Brodus helps them beat on Slater before the three throw him over the top rope. Slater lands on top of Ryback, sending him down again. Brodus, Rikishi and Scotty then dance together in the ring.

JBL: “I have never seen something so stupid in all my life, Brodus should be trying to win the damn thing and he's too busy dancing with these clowns.”

As the three continue to dance, the clock strikes zero.

9 – Antonio Cesaro

The crowd boo as Cesaro appears on the stage with the European Championship belt.

The numbers catch up with Cesaro however and he is thrown from the ring by Brodus and Rikishi after they perform a Sandwich splash. More dancing from Brodus and Rikishi as the clock hits zero.

10 – Big E Langston

Rikishi and Brodus immediately stop dancing and the crowd is in awe as Langston appears on stage. He claps weightlifting chalk in his hands to create a cloud before heading to the ring with a serious look on his face.

JR: “Things just took a serious turn.”

JBL: “You notice these two idiots stopped dancing, they know what's about to happen.”

Langston enters the ring and is double-teamed by Rikishi and Brodus, but he easily over-powers them. He swiftly manages to heave Rikishi over the top rope and draws an impressed the cheer from the crowd, before charging at Brodus and knocking him down. Langston drops his straps and signals for the Big Ending.

Cole: “You've got to be kidding, he isn't going to be able to get Brodus up for this...”

Langston proves him wrong and the crowd reacts loudly as Lagnston manages to deliver his finisher to Brodus, who goes crashing to the mat. Lagnston looks fired up, he lifts Brodus back to his feet and tips him over the top.

JBL: “This man is unstoppable, look at the power on display here!”

As the clock begins, Ryback is seen stirring and standing up. Langston and Ryback's eyes meet and they stare at each other. Before Ryback can enter the ring, the claxon sounds.

11 – Tyson Kidd

The crowd goes crazy as the muscular men trade blows, before knocking each other down with dual clotheslines.

Cole: “I've never seen a Rumble like this, we're 11 entrants in but I don't think we've had more than four guys in the ring at the same time.”

JBL: “And with these two goliaths in there things are going to get brutal!”

As Langston and Ryback remain grounded, the crowd counts down with the clock.

12 – Mark Henry

Cole: “Just when you thought it couldn't get any stronger in there!”

JBL: “He's back!”

He performs a splash on Langston, then picks Ryback up and hits him with the World's Strongest Slam. The crowd is loud as Henry yells “that's what I do”. Henry attempts to do the same to Langston, but Langston over-powers him and attempts a Big Ending. Henry powers out and the pair are deadlocked. They stare-down and talk trash before the clock begins. Henry and Langston trade shoves before the right hands start flying.

13 – Cody Rhodes

Rhodes takes his time entering the ring as Henry and Langston continue to go at it. Ryback re-enters the fight and the three brawl before Cody gets in the ring. The three muscular men take turns in striking Cody, who crashes to the mat after a Meathook from Ryback. Ryback and Henry then perform an impressive double-suplex on Langston, before Henry and Ryback crash into each other to result in all four men on the mat as the clock hits.

14 – Wade Barrett

Cole: “Carnage in the ring as we reach number fourteen and Wade Barrett.”

Barrett hits the Bullhammer on Langston before attempting Wasteland on Ryback, but he slips out the back and pushes Barrett into the waiting arms of Henry, who drops him with the Worlds Strongest Slam. Ryback then floors Henry with a Meathook and yells “finish it”. Ryback uses his strength to get Henry up and drop him with Shell Shock. The crowd goes wild for the feat of strength, but are shocked when Rhodes connects with a Disaster Kick and Langston Clotheslines him over the rop.

JR: “There goes Ryback!”

JBL: “Huge elimination by Langston, see ya later Ryback!”

Langston picks up Henry and throws him over the top with impressive strength. Langston is angry and exits the ring, where he continues to beat down on Henry.

Cole: “I can't believe what I just saw, incredible strength on display from Ryback, Langston and Henry.”

JR: “Have you ever seen Mark Henry man handled like that? This Big E Langston is unreal.”

JBL: “Langston knew he was in with a shot at winning this tonight, this isn't going to be the last we see of him and Henry.”

Rhodes stands alone in the ring with a smile as the only person active in the match. He watches up the ramp and awaits the next entrant as the clock counts down.

15 – Goldust

Cody sells shock in the ring as his brother appears on the stage and the crowd cheers.

Cole: “Brother versus brother at the Royal Rumble!”

JR: “Look at Cody's face, he can't believe Goldust is here.”

Cody and Goldust perform a double-suplex to Miz and show good teamwork as they eliminate him from the match to cheers, only for Cody to turn on Goldust and tip him straight out of the ring following Miz's elimination.

Cole: “Cody Rhodes is on fire, he's eliminated his brother from the Royal Rumble and is once again the only man in the ring.”

JBL: “It's the best way to keep it, Cody needs to keep the eliminations coming quick and fast if he wants to go on to win this thing.”

JR: “After all that talk of headlining WrestleMania as Intercontinental Champion, The Miz lasted about 90 seconds.”

Cole: “He was double-teamed by the Rhodes brothers JR, what do you want him to do?”

Cody is getting boos from the crowd as he cockily yells for the clock to hurry up. As it reaches zero, his cockiness soon turns to fear.

17 – John Cena

One of the loudest cheers of the night for Cena, who is debuting new black shorts and a white t-shirt. He stands at the ramp for a moment before saying “redemption here we go” into the camera.

Cole: “The road to redemption starts here for John Cena at number 17...”

JBL: “The draw has been fairly kind to him but there's still some big names he's going to have to get through if he wants a title shot at WrestleMania.”

JR: “Not least Brock Lesnar!”

Cena charges the ring, ducks clothesline attempt from Cody and begins his usual shoulder charge offense. He connects with a Five Knuckle Shuffle before AA'ing Rhodes out of the ring to loud cheers from the crowd. Cena looks up the ramp in preparation for his next opponent.

Cole: “Cena makes quick work of Cody Rhodes, who becomes the sixteenth man eliminated.”

JBL: “Look at the look on Cena's face, he knows who he wants to come down that isle next.”

The clock counts down to reveal the next entrant.

18 – Joe Hennig

JR: “Well that's not Brock Lesnar.”

Cole: “Indeed it's not, it's thrid generation superstar Joe Hennig.”

JBL: “One half of the Perfect Generation, let's see if he can do better than DiBiase!”

Hennig puts up a decent fight against Cena, withstanding some offense and making a comeback with the McGillicutter. The pair get to their feet at the same time and wrestle as the clock counts down.

19 – Brock Lesnar

Cole: “Here we go!”

JBL: “It's what we've all been waiting for... here comes the pain!”

Cena and Hennig stop in their tracks and look up the ramp as a fired up Lesnar appears with a sadistic smile on his face.

JR: “He's not here to win, he's not here for title opportunities, he's here to hurt people.”

JBL: “He's here to hurt John Cena, and look who's stood in that ring waiting for him.”

Lesnar hits the ring and immediately spears Cena, delivering elbow smashes to his forehead. Hennig foolishly tries to attack Lesnar from behind, Lesnar retaliates with a vicious German suplex and follows it up by throwing Hennig out of the ring.

Lesnar goes back to Cena, who attempts a comeback with his shoulder charge. Lesnar however avoids the second charge, and goes right back to work on Cena. The crowd is on fire as Lesnar locks in the Kimura Lock while the clock counts down.

Lesnar shows incredible strength to free a leg, get back to his feet and charge Cena into the corner. Lesnar scoops Cena up for the F5 and drops him mid-ring.

JR: “This does not look good for Cena, it's surely just a matter of time before Brock eliminates him.”

Cole: “I'm not sure he wants to eliminate him, he's enjoying what he's doing in there, as sick a thought as that it.”

JBL: “Never in my life have I seen someone dominate John Cena like this, I'm stunned.”

As the announcers were speaking the clock counts down again to zero.

21 – Hurricane Helms

Cheers from the crowd as Hurricane appears in complete superhero attire with cape.

JBL: “This is going to be brutal.”

Hurriance enters the ring and shows no fear as he approaches Lesnar and stupidly puts an arm around his throat as if to attempt a Chokeslam. Lesnar delivers a low blow striker and throws Hurricane over the top.

JBL: “Well, he did always want to fly, Brock just showed him how.”

Brock beats down Cena some more before he hits a surprise AA. The crowd rally behind Cena as he attempts to lift Brock over the top, but he clings on to the middle rop to prevent the elimination. Brock and Cena trade blows in the middle of the ring before Brock scores a belly-to-belly throw. He lifts Cena and drops him with another F5 and the crowd boo.

Cole: “This is going too far, somebody has to stop this.”

Lesnar yells for more men to enter as the clock counts down, Brock stands at the front of the ring looking down the ramp in anticipation for his next opponent.

22 – Sheamus

Very strong reaction for Sheamus as he heads straight for the ring.

JBL: “If there's a man alive who can fight Brock Lesnar it's this man, this is going to be good!”

Cole: “Sheamus and Lesnar, it's on!”

Sheamus and Brock trade blows as the crowd cheers. Cena remains motionless in the corner on the mat as Sheamus and Brock continue to go at it. Brock gets the upper-hand and whips Sheamus into the ropes, but the Irishman ducks a Clothesline and connects with a Brogue Kick!

JR: “Lesnar is down!”

The crowd is hot as Sheamus tries to get Lesnar to his feet. He tries to tip him over the top, but Lesnar clings to the top rope before striking out at Sheamus. He re-enters the ring and the pair continue to trade blows. Cena begins to stir as Lesnar takes the upper-hand over Sheamus, and Cena joins in the brawl. All three men battle it out as the clock counts down to the next entrant.

23 – Justin Gabriel

The cheers are not for Gabriel’s entrance… Sheamus lands a second Brogue Kick on Lesnar which is immediately followed up by an AA from Cena. The crowd goes wild, Gabriel enters the ring and immediately jumps to the top turnbuckle. He teases a 450 on the fallen Lesnar, but Sheamus Brogue Kicks him off the top and eliminates him.

As Lesnar stays grounded, Sheamus and Cena have a stare-down with the WrestleMania sign in the background.

Cole: “There’s no room for friendships when a WrestleMania title match is on the line.”

JBL: “Maybe not, but Sheamus and Cena have an ideal opportunity to try to eliminate Brock and they’re not taking it!”

Sheamus and Cena go at it as the crowd cheer. Cena takes advantage and begins his trademark offense. As he signals for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, Lesnar low blows him from behind. All three men are down as the clock strikes zero again.

Cole: “What the hell is he doing!?”

JBL: “He’s the show off.”

JR: “He has three men down, he needs to spend less time doing gymnastics and more time trying to win this match.”

All four men remain in contention for the next few minutes with Lesnar brawling with Sheamus and Ziggler trying to eliminate Cena. The clock hits zero for the next entrant.

25 – Kofi Kingston

JBL: “Kofi always seems to get the early numbers, 25 is a great draw for him, he could be in with a shot at winning this guys!”

The crowd cheer as Kofi makes a hot entrance, taking down Ziggler with a cross body before dropping Cena with Trouble In Paradise. Kofi is soon brough back to earth when he attempts Trouble In Paradise on Lesnar, who swats him away before delivering the F5. Lesnar toys with the other men in the ring, taking turns to strike them. Sheamus manages to avoid Lesnar's blow however and hits yet another Brogue Kick. Sheamus looks to pick up Lesnar as the crowd cheer his performance when the clock hits zero.

26 – Kane

JR: “The most feared man in Royal Rumble history, and a man who has no love lost for Sheamus.”

The crowd boo as Kane makes his way to the ring. Sheamus stands his ground and awaits Kane's entrance, greeting him in the ring as the pair exchange blows. Kane takes the upper-hand and backs Sheamus up against the ropes, but as he charges with him with a big boot Sheamus avoids the contact and leaves Kane straddling the top rope. Sheamus follows up with a Brogue Kick to eliminate Kane and the crowd goes wild.

Cole: “I don't believe it, Kane eliminated early via a Brogue Kick from Sheamus.”

Kofi attempts a Trouble In Paradise on Sheamus, but he blocks and throws Kofi over the top rope and onto Kane. Kofi's feet haven't hit the floor as he piggybacks Kane, but the Big Red Monster is in no mood to help him back to the ring and throws him to the floor.

Sheamus looks to eliminate Ziggler, but Kane re-enters the ring and Chokeslams Sheamus out of the ring. The crowd boo loudly.

JR: “Oh come on! Sheamus eliminated Kane fairly, the Big Red Machine re-enters the ring and costs Sheamus a chance of making it back-to-back victories.”

JBL: “These two men cannot stand each other!”

As Lesnar beats on Cena in the corner and Ziggler wisely stays at the other side of the ring as the announcers recap events so far.

Cole: “It's been a highly unusual Rumble match so far, not often have we had more than 2 or 3 superstars in the ring. There are four more superstars awaiting their entry as we look to see who will come out on top in the 2013 Royal Rumble match.”

JBL: “And so far the MVP has to be Brock Lesnar, three eliminations already and clearly dominating.”

JR: “Cena is hanging on in there but he's taking an absolute beating from Lesnar tonight, while Dolph appears to just be staying out of Lesnar's way.”

Cole: “Which is a smart strategy if you ask me.”

The clock hits zero as the announcers continue.

27 – Christian

Cole: “Captain Charisma has the lucky number, more winners have come from this spot than any other in history.”

JR: “He's fresh off an impressive victory on Sunday Night Heat over Cody Rhodes, with less men in the ring as usual it could be Christian's night.”

Christian hits the ring and targets Ziggler, the pair trading blows early on. No eliminations for the next few minutes as Cena makes a comeback on Lesnar and Christian continues to work over Ziggler.

28 – R Truth

Small reaction for Truth who attempts to make the hot entrance. He hits a flying forearm on Ziggler and begins to dance, which does not impress Lesnar. He quickly eliminates Truth with a vicious clothesline. Cena then attempts to tip Lesnar over the top which draws big cheers from the crowd, but Lesnar low blows Cena and stays in the match. Lesnar once again dominates all men in the ring, dropping Christian with a Powerbomb before eliminating him. Lesnar stands over Cena and Ziggler who remain down and out in the middle of the ring. The clock counts down as Lesnar looks up the ramp in anticipation.

Cole: “Just look into the eyes of Brock Lesnar, staring down that ramp waiting for another victim.”

JBL: “I don't see how anybody is going to stop this man, he's out of control.”

29 – Triple H

The crowd erupts with cheers and Lesnar looks shocked in the ring as Hunter's music hits and the green lighting floods the arena.

Cole: “It can't be? Oh my God it is, The Game has entered the Royal Rumble!”

JR: “We haven't seen Triple H in the ring since Brock Lesnar broke his arm at SummerSlam, but The Game is standing feet away from another encounter with the beast.”

JBL: “And let's not forget what Brock Lesnar did to this man's Father In Law just a few hours ago, Triple H is here and he's hungry for Vengeance.”

Hunter hits the ring and trades bombs with Lesnar. Lesnar whips HHH into the ropes but is greeted with a Facebuster before Triple H nails the Pedigree. The crowd goes wild as Hunter performs the DX crotch chop to a fallen Lesnar.

Cole: “Triple H is on fire, he could go all the way here.”

Hunter lifts Lesnar to his feet and takes him toward the ropes where Brock attempts a comeback. Hunter then sets Lesnar for a second Pedigree, but Lesnar counters and successfully backdrops HHH out of the ring over the top rope. Lesnar turns round to mock HHH, which allowes Cena to tip Lesnar out of the ring from behind.

JR: “And there goes Lesnar!”

JBL: “Brock took his eye off the ball for one moment and John Cena has managed to eliminate the biggest threat in the match so far.”

HHH and Lesnar continue brawling on the outside as Cena and Ziggler go at it in the ring.

Cole: “HHH and Lesnar eliminated but they're still going right at it on the outside, what an incredible Royal Rumble match we've had so far.”

JBL: “It's down to Cena, Ziggler and whoever comes out at number thirty!”

Cena takes the upper-hand and attempts to AA Ziggler out of the ring, but Dolph pulls off an acrobatic counter to slip out the back and shock the WWE Universe by delivering a Superkick that sends Cena over the top and out of the match.

Cole: “Oh my God, there goes Cena, Cena is eliminated!”

JR: “The road to redemption hits a major road block in the form of Dolph Ziggler.”

JBL: “What a major moment in the career of Dolph Ziggler!”

Cena sells frustration and heartbreak on the outside as Dolph confidently stands at the front of the ring awaiting number thirty. We feed to a replay of HHH and Lesnar's brawl, which concluded with both men fighting up the ramp and through the curtain.

The clock counts down from ten and the announcers question who the last entrant will be. As the clock hits five, the graphic changes to the classic Y2J clock and the countdown sound effects change to those of Jericho's old entrance. The crowd pops loud as the clock hits zero, pyro shoots...

30 – Chris Jericho

JBL: “He's back!”

Cole: “Chris Jericho returns, and he's going one-on-one with the man who had him fired from WWE last summer.”

JR: “Look at Ziggler's face, he can't believe Jericho is back!”

Jericho milks the cheers, flashes a smile at Ziggler before entering the ring and taking him down with a tackle. The crowd is big into the match as Jericho beats down on Ziggler. Jericho spends a minute beating on Ziggler before Ziggler makes a comeback and connects with the Zig Zag. Both men are down and struggling to get to their feet.

Cole: “We're down to the final two, one of these men is going to go on to headline WrestleMania 29. Ziggler and Jericho, a storied rivalry picks up right where it left off here at the Royal Rumble.”

Jericho is first to his feet, he hits the bulldog on Ziggler. Jericho attempts the Lionsault, Ziggler rolls out of the way but Jericho lands on his feet. Ziggler goes for a Superkick, Jericho catches the leg, spins Ziggler round and hits the Codebreaker. Ziggler crashes to the mat and tries to pull himself up on the ropes, only to see Jericho deliver a clothesline that sends Ziggler over the top. He lands on the apron, but Jericho performs a trademark springboard dropkick to eliminate Ziggler and win the match.

Chris Jericho wins the 2013 Royal Rumble match.

Jericho's music plays and the crowd goes wild. He looks up at the WrestleMania 29 sign with a smile as the cheers continue. The announcers talk over a replay of the finish.

JR: “Chris Jericho is going to WrestleMania!”

JBL: “What an amazing story, what an amazing comeback. Dolph Ziggler thought he had the job done when he took Cena out of the equation, only to see a rival he thought he had beaten for good make a historic comeback.”

Cole: “Y2J receives a championship match of his choosing at WrestleMania 29, Mr Money In The Bank can't believe what has happened and neither can the WWE Universe!”

As Y2J continues to celebrate in the ring, we quickly feed backstage where Triple H and Brock Lesnar are still brawling. They fight into an office, where Triple H uses a fire extinguisher to blind Lesnar before smashing him with a sledgehammer. The screen fades to black as the camera zooms in on Lesnar busted open on the ground.

An advert for the Elimination Chamber event airs, focusing on the tagline “the final stop on the road to WrestleMania”. Replays of the highlights of the pay-per-view then run with the announcers discussing the major talking points.

Cole: “What an incredible Royal Rumble pay-per-view so far, we kicked things off by crowning a new World Heavyweight Champion.”

JBL: “Randy Orton delivers a mid-air RKO to Daniel Bryan and wins the title without pinning the Champion, Big Show gets an immediate rematch tomorrow night on Raw.”

JR: “Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara retaining the Tag Team Championships, Sin Cara taking a leaf out of Mysterio's book and using the 619 to put away the Prime Time Players.”

JBL: “Intelligence prevailed as Damien Sandow took the United States Championship from that clown Zack Ryder.”

Cole: “And how about that Royal Rumble match guys, some major talking points coming out of that.”

JBL: “Not least Chris Jericho returning and winning his first Royal Rumble in a hall of fame career, I can't wait to see which Championship he decides to go for.”

JR: “Triple H returns to avenge his father-in-law, taking out Brock Lesnar with a sledgehammer.”

Cole: “A mixed night for John Cena – he thought he had the job done when he finally overcame Brock Lesnar and eliminated him from the Rumble, only to be eliminated himself by Dolph Ziggler.”

JR: “And some big names returning tonight too; Mark Henry, John Morrison, 2 Cool, Goldust Hurricane, it will be interesting to see where those men head next.”

Cole: “But ladies and gentlemen there is still one match left, and it is the big one. WWE Champion CM Punk puts his 434 day title reign on the line against The Rock in what has become a very personal rivalry...”

We feed to a video package on events leading into the Royal Rumble:
  • The Rock defeats John Cena at WrestleMania 28, CM Punk defeats Chris Jericho to retain the WWE Championship on the same night.
  • Punk: “As the greatest WWE Champion and best in the world, I feel disrespected by The Rock. CM Punk defeating Chris Jericho to retain the WWE Championship should be a headline WrestleMania main event, but instead I am bumped to the mid-card to make way for Dwayne.”
  • The Rock returns at Raw 1000 and announces he has been granted a WWE Championship match.
  • Punk: “And while I'm here every single night proving that I am the best, the big movie star wins one match and is granted a free pass at my Championship. Never have I been so disrespected in my life, and I'm not going to let that go by unpunished.”
  • The Rock returns and delivers a People's Elbow to Punk before holding his title up.
  • Punk: “The Rock was once the best, there's no denying it. But times have changed, this isn't the Attitude Era anymore, and at the Royal Rumble The Rock will see why I am the best in the world.”
  • Punk attacks The Rock with a steel pipe and smashes Mick Foley over the head with a steel chair.
  • Punk: “The Rock has never stepped inside the ring with a man like me, a man who will do whatever it takes to walk out the WWE Champion...”
  • The Rock hits a Rock Bottom on Punk.
  • Rock: “The Rock has done it all in this business, everything except for one thing, and that is successfully defending the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. So The Rock is back, he is going to take the WWE Championship from CM Punk, walk right into WrestleMania and stand tall as not only the People's Champion... but the WWE Champion.”

We return live backstage where The Rock is in the interview position:

As the crowd continue to cheer, the bell rings and Justin Roberts stands in the ring.

Roberts: “The following contest, scheduled for one fall... is for the WWE Championship!”

Loud cheers from the crowd.

JR: “You can feel the excitement in the air, we're about to witness history ladies and gentlemen, hold on to your hats.”

Cult Of Personality hits and loud boos ring around the arena. Paul Heymen first walks out holding the WWE Championship up high, before CM Punk appears on stage. He looks angry as he heads to the ring.

Cole: “It is highly unusual for the champion to enter first, but CM Punk has requested to be the first man to enter the ring tonight, mind games from the champion?”

JBL: “I think you're right Michael, CM Punk is very unhappy at the way he has been treated by WWE management and The Rock in particular, this is going to be very physical.”

Punk completes his entrance to boos and as his music stops the crowd begins to chant for The Rock. Loud cheers when Mick Foley's music hits, he appears on stage but waits at the top of the ramp. The Rock's music hits and the crowd explodes.

Cole: “This is only The Rock's second singles match since returning to WWE, he's about to go to war with the best in the world.”

JR: “You can't downplay the importance of having Mick Foley in Rock's corner, that should eliminate the threat of Paul Heyman.”

JBL: “More disrespectful comments. Paul Heyman was nowhere to be seen when CM Punk won the title 434 days, he was not there when Punk defeated Chris Jericho at WrestleMania, CM Punk is more than capable of defeating The Rock without any kind of foul play.”

Foley and Rock embrace at the top of the ramp before heading to the ring. Rock performs his usual entrance as Punk and Heyman exit the ring and watch from ringside, apparently discussing strategy. Rock and Punk then stand in opposite corners of the ring as Roberts handles format ring introductions.

Roberts: “Introducing first, the challenger... been accompanied to the ring by Mick Foley, from Miami Flordia... The Rock!”

More loud cheers as Rock raises his hand.

Roberts: “And his opponent... accompanied to the ring by Payl Heyman, from Chicago Illinois, he is the current WWE Champion... CM Punk!”

The crowd boo loudly as Punk climbs to the top turnbuckle and declares himself the best in the world. As Punk climbs down, The Rock greets him with a right hand and the bell rings to a loud reaction from the crowd. Rock hits three more right hands looks to hit an early Rock Bottom, but Punk elbows Rock in the side of the head and rolls out of the ring to heavy boos.

JR: “The Rock looking to end it early there, and look at Punk, he knows he just had a lucky escape.”

The Rock signals for Punk to bring it from the ring and a furious Punk re-enters the ring, trading blows with Rock. Punk takes control with a spinning kick to the mid-section and spends several minutes working on the abdomen of Rock.

Cole: “Punk targeting the mid-section that cannot be 100% after Punk attacked Rock with that pipe.”

JBL: “Smart strategy from Punk, he knows there is a weakness and he's looking to exploit it.”

At the six minute mark, Rock hits a DDT to regain the momentum. He begins a flurry of offense which culminates in Rock getting Punk in the Sharpshooter mid-ring. Rock applies the hold well but Punk manages to power to the ropes and break up the count. Rock signals for the Rock Bottom as Punk tries to pull himself up, Punk turns around but counters into the Anoconda Vice. Rock is down mid-ring with Punk screaming for him to tap. Rock looks as if he might tap, but manages to power up and reverse into a pin-fall attempt, forcing Punk to break the hold. As both men rush to their feet, Punk hits a big kick to the head. He goes for the pin but only gets 2.

Punk signals for the GTS at the 11 minute mark as Rock stumbles to his feet. He gets Rock up high in position, but he slips out the back, pushing Punk into the ropes and connects with a Spinebuster. The crowd goes wild as Rock takes off his right Elbow Pad, throws it into the crowd and hits the People's Elbow. He goes for the pin... 1... 2... Punk kicks out!

Rock can't believe it. He looks to pick Punk up, but Punk get the small package... 1 … 2... Rock kicks out! Both men rush to their feet, but Punk hits a GTS out of nowhere. The crowd goes nuts as Punk goes for the cover... 1... 2... Rock kicks out! Punk sells disbelief as the crowd pops.

Cole: “These two men are using every weapon in their arsenal but it isn't enough, what is it going to take for one of these guys to walk out champion?”

At the 15 minute mark, Punk throws a weakened Rock outside the ring toward the announce tables. Punk removes the top of the table and the crowd pops as he rolls Rock onto the table. Punk also gets on the table, and the crowd boo loudly as Punk uses the Rock Bottom to send Rock crashing through the table. Punk gets back in the ring and urges the referee to start the count as the crowd is loud with boos for Punk.

JR: “Not this way, not this way! CM Punk delivers a Rock Bottom to The Rock, he gonna win this damn thing by count-out.”

JBL: “It's the championship advantage, what's wrong with that?”

Cole: “But guys look at Foley, he's trying to encourage Rock to get back to his feet.”

The ref is at 5 as Foley talks words of encouragement to Rock. He is heard telling Rock to “do it for the millions” as the ref gets to 7. Rock finds the strength to stand tall and re-enter the ring, only to be immediately set upon by Punk. Punk works over Rock in the corner with a series of kicks before following up with his trademark high-knee / bulldog combination. The crowd boo as Punk then heads to the top rope and delivers an elbow drop to Rock. He goes for the cover... 1... 2... Rock kicks out and the crowd pops.

An angry Punk rolls out to the ring apron and yells at Rock to get up. Punk attempts a slingshot clothesline, but Rock avoids the contact and Punk clatters into the ref. Rock goes for the Rock Bottom, but Punk counters and hits a second GTS. Instead of going for the cover, Punk yells something outside to Heyman. Heyman checks that Foley is not at his side of the ring before revealing a steel pipe from his jacket coat, which he tosses to Punk. Punk looks to strike Rock, but Foley hits the ring and snatches it from him before striking Punk around the head.

The crowd goes wild as Rock slowly crawls over to make the cover, Heyman is going nuts at ringside as the ref comes round and notices Rock with his arm over Punk... 1... 2... Punk kicks out! Heyman sells relief, the crowd pops again.

JBL: “That God for that, what an injustice that would have been!”

Cole: “What are you talking about!? Punk tried to use the weapon on Rock, Foley returned the favour.”

At the 22 minute mark, Rock gets to his feet and signals for a Rock Bottom. Punk groggily rises but is met with a Rock Bottom. Rock goes for the cover... 1... 2... Heyman pulls the ref out of the ring! The crowd boo before Foley gets to Heyman and knocks him down with a right-hand. The crowd goes wild as Foley pulls out Mr Socko and delivers it to Heyman as the ref gets back in the ring.

Rock attempts another Rock Bottom at 24 minutes, Punk counters and looks for the GTS, Rock counters and lands the Rock Bottom in the middle of the ring. Rock kips up, throws his left elbow pad into the wild crowd and scores his second People's Elbow.... 1... 2... 3!

The Rock def. CM Punk to become WWE Champion

The crowd explodes with cheers as Rock's music hits and the bell sounds.

Roberts: “The winner of this match... and NEW WWE Champion... The Rock!”

JR: “What an incredible match, what a performance by these great men...”

Cole: “But it is The Rock who comes out on top, The Rock who ends the 434 day title reign of CM Punk, The Rock is the new WWE Champion!”

Foley takes the WWE Championship belt from ringside and enters the ring, handing the belt to Rock before raising his hand. The crowd cheers loudly as Rock celebrates in the corner turnbuckles with the championship belt held high.

JBL: “It took multiple Rock Bottoms, two People's Elbows and a steel pipe to keep CM Punk down.”

Cole: “The Rock achieves his dream, he is once again WWE Champion, thank you ladies and gentlemen for joining us on this historic night... see you next time!”

The Rumbles goes off the air with confetti falling on Rock in the middle of the ring as he holds the held high.

Royal Rumble Review

Love that Randy Orton won the World Heavyweight Championship, now Orton is a 10-time World Heavyweight Champion joining a very exclusive club that has the likes of Edge, Hogan, Cena, HHH and Flair as superstars that have won 10 or more titles and now Orton is in that club after beating both The Big Show and Daniel Bryan to become the new World Heavyweight Champion all be it that Orton pinned Bryan but then Show beside himself after losing tries to attack Orton but Orton sees it coming and hits an RKO on Show, what would have been better is if he punted Big Show's lights out but all that matters is that now Orton is the champion ending Big Show's reign and now it makes me wonder if Randy Orton will defend his World Heavyweight Championship inside the Elimination Chamber next month

Loved the backstage segment between Team Rhodes Scholars, here is hoping Cody can win the Royal Rumble Match and Damien can win the WWE United States Championship tonight

But loved that Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara retained their WWE Tag Team Championships beating The Prime Time Players yet again, this just goes to show us that Mysterio and Cara are going to be champions at least for the immediate future while with PTP they have been on a downward spiral as of late so I wonder if we will have a new tag team become the next #1 Contenders

Big Show is stewing and it takes a lot of guts for him to talk to Stephanie McMahon like that because let's not forget she is the boss' daughter but also she is the wife of the COO Triple H, so she could fire Big Show if she wanted to just for him acting the way he did just now but at the same time Big Show shouldn't have rushed to get his rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship but rather should have waited and now that is going to be Big Show's undoing because tomorrow on RAW he has his World Heavyweight Championship rematch against the new World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton and if he loses that, then he can't get another title shot until after Mania, that's great

I think I know who Stephanie was talking to on the phone, she was either talking to her husband Triple H the COO or she was talking to her brother Shane McMahon

Loved the John Cena video package, but at the same time I just have a feeling Cena's road, his path to redemption will be caught in its headlights tonight because there is no way he wins the Royal Rumble Match

Loved the backstage segment between Orton and Miz, if anything Miz has no chance of winning the Rumble either and Orton sarcastically wishing him luck was great, just love The Viper because this title reign has been 2 years coming, me being an Orton fan, it is about time Orton is champion again since the last time he held it was in 2011 during the summer, and now that it is 2013 and he is World Heavyweight Champion again, there's no way he loses the title anytime soon

Sandow becoming the new WWE United States Champion beating Zack Ryder, finally we have a WWE United States Champion we can all be proud of unlike Ryder who just by holding the title he destroyed whatever prestige was left in that title and now Sandow can restore prestige to this title by being one of the greatest WWE United States Champions in WWE history perhaps of all time

As for the Royal Rumble Match itself, seeing all those returns like John Morrison, Rikishi, Scotty 2 Hotty, Triple H the COO and then Y2J Chris Jericho making his return at #30, the roof coming off the place with Y2J winning his first-ever Royal Rumble Match, Chris Jericho winning the Royal Rumble Match for the first time in his career adds the Royal Rumble Match to his already growing list of accomplishments and to do it in his return was great, and seeing the eliminations themselves really shocked at Cena being eliminated especially by Ziggler and then Lesnar being eliminated by Cena after Triple H provided the distraction and Triple H and Lesnar brawling on the outside taking their brawl all the way to the back backstage was great and Triple H getting some much needed retribution on Lesnar blinding him with a fire extinguisher and then proceeding to hit him with a sledgehammer to bust Lesnar open was great, Brock got what he deserved after F5ing Vince, Triple H's father-in-law

But now with Jericho winning the Royal Rumble Match, it makes me wonder which title Jericho will go after, will it be the WWE Championship? Or the World Heavyweight Championship? Either way Jericho is going to MetLife Stadium in the main event in NY/NJ but as for Ziggler he still has his Money in the Bank briefcase and he could choose to cash it in before WrestleMania 29 and if that happens then it could very well be Ziggler vs Jericho at Mania but I see Ziggler cashing in right after Mania

Finally we have some change around here, The Rock is the new WWE Champion and we can say it, FREE AT LAST FREE AT LAST, Punk's 434 day reign is over thank the Lord because I was starting to grow sick and tired of him being champion and now that he is no longer the WWE Champion, Punk can set his sights on the Streak that being Undertaker's 20-0 WrestleMania undefeated streak or Punk can end up facing Triple H at WrestleMania 29

But for WrestleMania 29, why do I get the feeling that it will be a Triple-Threat Match for the WWE Championship, that Rock will defend his title against Cena and Punk

And that at WrestleMania 29, The Undertaker will end up facing either Sheamus, Kane, Big Show, Ryback, or even Brock Lesnar

I'm glad you enjoyed my Rumble show. It really is the start of an interesting and different road to WrestleMania 29 - the next three weeks leading into Elimination Chamber are action-packed and will give you some clues as to where we are headed for the WM matches.

Awsome Royal Rumble big time I loved it, I was hooked on whether or not you would keep Punk as champ! Wrestlemania can't be too long away now should be very good, Btw for Sandow winning the U.S title!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

Keeping the title on Punk was my biggest dilemma. For a long time my WM29 main event was Streak vs Streak, Punk vs Taker.

I've decided on another path, I hope everyone is pleased with the end result.

Henry returned at the rumble.

There's going to be a fair few returns and debuts as we head toward WM29, I'm probably going to hold off on Swagger until after then.
