Re: WWE 2006: PAX-11
MONDAY NIGHT RAW - 3/7
Vince McMahon made a huge announcement:
Vince McMahon kicked off the show by addressing the current state of the company and making some huge announcements. After giving the families and friends of the wrestlers that had passed his condolences, he announced that with all the deaths and wrestlers still mourning the losses of their friends and loved ones, the company has been forced to end the brand split. For that reason, the company will be getting rid of the World Heavyweight, United States and Tag Team Titles. Meaning Rey Mysterio is now the WWE Heavyweight Champion and Big Show and Kane will be taking on Paul London and Brian Kendrick at The Great American Bash. Vince told the fans to not be shocked if they don’t see any of their favourite wrestlers in a while, as there are many mourning the loss of their friends and family and others that are recovering from the disease. Finally, McMahon announced that Rey Mysterio would take on Randy Orton in the Main Event for the WWE Heavyweight Championship, so the company is returning with a bang.

Gregory Helms vs. Chavo Guerrero
Singles Match
This was an exciting, fast-paced match. Gregory Helms got some early momentum, after hitting a Lariat, followed up by a DDT. Chavo Guerrero fought back with an Elbow Reversal at the turnbuckle. He used submission holds to wear down the Cruiserweight Champion. A Suplex at the ropes from Helms sent Chavo to the outside. A Suicide Dive from Gregory nearly caused a double countout, but both competitors rolled back in the ring at a count of nine. After a struggle for momentum, Chavo hit a Dropkick and a Running Crossbody, but only got a count of 2. Chavo Guerrero locked in an Armlock, which nearly made Helms tap, but the Champ just managed to make it to the ropes before tapping. Guerrero hit a Bicycle Kick, and then pointed towards the sky, signalling that he was going to the top rope. Chavo Guerrero looked to hit Frog Splash, but Gregory Helms jumped up and hit an Arm Drag from the top rope. Shining Wizard! Gregory Helms picks up the victory.
Winner: Gregory Helms

Paul London and Brian Kendrick were interviewed:
One of the two teams that will be competing for the Tag Team Championships at The Great American Bash were interviewed and asked for their feelings on the match. The duo said that they knew size would be an issue, but were confident in their ability and were confident that they’d come out of the PPV with the titles. When asked whether they’d be watching Big Show and Kane in action in the next match, they answered that they would be and Vince McMahon has given them the chance to choose their opponents. They chose The Mexicools and Snitsky as their opponents, claiming that McMahon never said they could only pick two opponents.

Big Show and Kane vs. The Mexicools and Snitsky
Tag Team Match
Big Show and Super Crazy started things off with The World’s Largest Athlete destroying his smaller opponent. He threw him all over the ring and eventually to the outside. Snitsky and Pcicosos had to roll him in so he wasn’t counted out. Big Show tagged Kane in, and Super Crazy tagged Pcicosis in. The process was repeated, but instead of throwing him to the outside, Kane hit a Chokeslam. He let Pcicosis tag Snitsky in, who actually managed to gain some momentum with a kick to the head. Snitsky worked on Kane’s legs, but was done as soon as The Big Red Monster managed to get a tag. Big Show hit a massive clothesline, followed by The Final Cut, and finally a Double Chokeslam. Big Show picks up the victory for Kane and himself.
Winners: Kane and Big Show

He walked to the ring, ready for a title match, but before the referee could ring the bell, Shelton Benjamin backed off into the crowd, saying Rob Van Dam isn’t a good enough opponent for him. Rob Van Dam posed in the middle of the ring, but was suddenly attacked by Mark Henry.

He believed Rey Mysterio’s speed would be no match for his intelligence and brutality.

Singles Match
The fans seemed to like CM Punk and he gave them high-fives as he walked to the ring. Booker T got momentum in the early going, attacking Punk before the match started. CM Punk managed to hit a Samoan Drop followed up by a Flying Elbow to win some momentum. Booker T attempted to take charge again, but to no avail. He hit a Forearm Smash, but after running to the ropes, he was met with a massive kick from the Straight Edge Superstar. Punk attempted a cover but only got a two count. CM Punk then hit a few Flying Clotheslines, and looked hit his finisher, The GTS. Punk lifted Booker onto his shoulders, who squirmed his way out of it and pushed the Straight Edge Star into the ref. He tried to capitalize with a Roll-Up, but there was no ref to count the pin, so instead, Booker T grabbed a Chair from the outside. He was tripped by a Low Dropkick though and landed face-first on it. CM Punk locked in the Anaconda Vice and the referee recovered to see Booker T tapping.

Rey Mysterio (c) vs. Randy Orton
Singles Match for the WWE Heavyweight Championship
Randy Orton was met with boos, while Rey Mysterio got a huge pop. To start off the match, Randy Orton did as he said, and used his intelligence and brutality to minimize the effect Rey Mysterio’s speed would usually have. He wore the champion down with multiple Lariats and Knee Stomps. The challenger had an answer for everything in the early going, catching Rey Mysterio and hitting a Backbreaker. Repetitively going for pins, Randy Orton seemed to make it impossible for the Champion to get any offence. Rey Mysterio almost hit a 619 out of nowhere, reversing Randy Orton attempt at a Death Valley Driven into a Hurricanrana, but he was met by a massive Clothesline that almost won the Legend Killer the match. Rey Mysterio finally got in some offense, by hitting a Dropkick that sent Orton to the outside. The Chmapion then launched himself over the top rope, taking out Randy Orton on the outside. After Rey Mysterio looked to hit a Flying Forearm on the outside thought, Orton reversed again, and sent him running into the steps. Randy Orton rolled into the ring and then back out again, buying himself some time. He dropped Rey Mysterio on the barricade 3 times with a Military Press three times before rolling Mysterio back into the ring. The Viper looked to hit the RKO, but was met with a Small Package that got the 3! Rey Mysterio is handed his title, but is immediately attacked after the match by Randy Orton, who walks off frustrated.
Winner and Still Champion: Rey Mysterio
