Default Ring Of Truth or: ROH 2013

Results leading up to Final Battle 2012:

"Death Before Dishonor X" - 15/9/12
Kevin Steen def. Rhino to retain the ROH World Championship. During the match, Truth Martini hit Steen with the Book of Truth after pulling Veda Scott in front of Steen's Superkick and Steen later returned the favour by giving him a Package Piledriver, despite knowing well that Truth is a manager due to having to retire from wrestling because of a severe neck injury. Luckily for Truth, he was not re-injured. Steen delivered the F-Cinq to pin Rhino in the end. After, Michael Elgin gave Roderick Strong a Twisting Powerbomb, both having been involved in the match earlier on. This left Elgin's status as a House of Truth member in doubt.

"Killer Instinct" - 6/10/12
Kevin Steen def. Jay Lethal to retain the ROH World Championship. Despite Lethal unleashing his killer instinct, as motivated by Jim Cornette, and coming closer than anyone else to ending Steen's reign of terror, Lethal fell to interference from the ROH World Tag Team Champions, Steve Corino & Jimmy Jacobs. However, what everyone remembers is the shocking incident afterwards - Lethal cleared the champions from the ring with steel chairshots, took down Steen with another, then pulled a pair of scissors from under the ring. Grabbing Steen by the hair, Lethal audibly threatened to stab him in the neck if he didn't give him a rematch then and there. For the first time in a very long time, Steen gave into another person's demands and frantically offered the rematch and begged Lethal to let him go. As soon as Lethal called for the bell, ROH security hit the ring and dragged away the furious challenger, while Steen was left in the ring, visibly shaken.

"Glory By Honor XI" - 13/10/12
Kevin Steen def. Michael Elgin to retain the ROH World Championship. After interference from Roderick Strong, Steen managed to Package Piledrive Elgin for the victory. After the match, Strong delivered several chairshots across Elgin's back then put him in the Stronghold until officials pulled him off. Truth Martini begged Strong to stop.

On an episode of Ring Of Honor Wrestling, Truth Martini made a proposition to Jim Cornette. By this point, Kevin Steen had beat all odds and defended the championship 11 times in 5 months, including against a number of former world champions and the 3 main House of Truth members - Strong, Rhino and Elgin - individually. Cornette is getting desperate. Steen's connection with the fans and Cornette's failure to stop him have left the fans nearly 100% against him. If they're not cheering Steen attacking innocents and disgracing the whole idea of Ring Of Honor, they've given up on the product. Cornette's distraction with Steen has also lead to the business beginning to collapse, with many iPPV failures and no smooth handling of production.

Truth's proposal was this: the problem with taking out Steen is that in a singles environment, he has the advantage. He is able to outwit and take advantage of all his opponents, as well as use the numbers game with his SCUM members - Corino & Jacobs. Truth suggests the Final Battle 2012 main event should be a Fatal Fourway between Steen, Strong, Rhino and Elgin. Him and his Guardians of Truth will also be granted ringside access to prevent the involvement of SCUM. All other non-HoT roster members will be banned from ringside. He also says the House of Truth are prepared to work for free that night, but ask that when a HoT member wins the ROH World Championship, Truth gains control as ROH's Executive Producer - Cornette's job.

Cornette first laughs at the absurdity of this proposal, but Truth elaborates. Cornette will still go about his usual duties and running of the company, but Truth just wants the job title in order to simply be able to do whatever he wants - from making the occasional match, approving title matches for his champion and making sure his wrestlers get all the perks they deserve. He asks Cornette if he thinks it's not worth the risk. He makes some examples why there are no other united forces capable of taking out Steen in a similar match. The American Wolves hate each other now. The Briscoes love to compete against each other and will weaken themselves against Steen. Kenny King abandoned Rhett Titus. Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team are almost as bad as SCUM, but despised by the fans. The Embassy barely exists anymore. And a certain pale Mexican, who might be the only one capable of beating Steen on his own, doesn't want to help ROH anymore.

When Cornette asks what about the Elgin-Strong situation, Truth calls it the same thing he's called it for months - a bunch of "hoopla". Elgin and Strong may not be the best of friends anymore, but they both want the title and Steen out of ROH. Cornette, distraught by the compelling argument and the possibility of selling his soul to the devil, eventually comes round to the idea. Even if Strong and Elgin start fighting, there's still Rhino, and they couldn't just fight each other for the whole match, and neither has any real beef with Rhino. Cornette reluctantly accepts Truth's proposition.

Notes:
- Jay Lethal has been suspended until at least Final Battle, but it's uncertain when he'll be allowed back. The rematch Kevin Steen allowed still stands for as long as he remains champion, and Lethal still keeps his Survival Of The Fittest title shot.

Final Battle 2012

Tag Team Challenge
Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team vs. Irish Airborne

- Irish Airborne get the upset victory, when Jake Crist schoolboy'd Shelton Benjamin. They quickly left the ring and celebrated in the aisle, leaving an infuriated WGTT. Charlie Haas and Benjamin ranted in the ring and flipped off the fans.
- Approx. 8mins

Six Man Mayhem
"The Prodigy" Mike Bennett vs. Tadarius Thomas vs. "Die Hard" Eddie Edwards vs. Rhett Titus vs. BJ Whitmer vs. Silas Young

- In an exciting spotfest, Eddie Edwards won with the Achilles Lock over Silas Young.
- Approx. 10mins

Street Fight
The Briscoes vs. The Guardians of Truth with Truth Martini

- For the third match in a row, The Guardians of Truth were defeated by The Briscoes. They were eventually put away by Mark Briscoe's Froggybow from the top of a ladder outside, onto one of the Guardians laid on a table inside the ring. A bloodless affair, it was the most hard-fought match for the Guardians so far in ROH, but nothing new for Dem Boys, who were once again dominant against them. Afterwards, Truth Martini was visibly frustrated with the Guardians yet to have picked up any wins.
- Approx. 15mins

Special Challenge
"No Fear" Mike Mondo vs. "The Notorious 187" Homicide

- Mike Mondo put up a valiant effort against the ROH veteran, but was eventually put away by the Cop Killa. Mondo used a lot of desperation moves and did all he could, but Homicide used various veteran tactics and some downright cheating behind the ref's back to keep the upper hand. Both exchanged a lot of stiff strikes. Mondo received a standing ovation, despite the loss.
- Approx. 12mins

Grudge Match
"American Wolf" Davey Richards vs. Kyle O'Reilly

- The student managed to best the master, as O'Reilly was able to hook the tights to defeat his mentor. Things were very heated, as there was no Code of Honor between them and it began with Davey slapping O'Reilly. Throughout the match, O'Reilly targeted Davey's arm with various submissions, including a Fujiwara Armbar. Towards the end, he nearly got the submission victory with a surprise Cross Armbreaker, but Davey rolled out and applied the Ankle Lock. Rather than wrestle methodically, Davey simply tried to beat some respect back into O'Reilly, who endured stiff kicks and elbows throughout. In the end, O'Reilly rolled through an Ankle Lock and grabbed the tights to get the rollup win. Ecstatic at outsmarting his mentor, O'Reilly limped to the back, laughing away.
- Approx. 15mins

ROH World TV Championship
Adam Cole defends vs. Matt Hardy

- As usual, Cole was the underdog going in, but he managed to just pull off the victory in the end. Hardy turned down the Code of Honor and went straight after Cole from start, throwing him out of the ring, man-handling him around ringside, then dominating for the next 7 or 8 minutes. After connecting with the Side Effect, Hardy went to the top rope, but Cole evaded the Moonsault and managed to make a comeback from there. He never once gave Hardy any chance to recover - attempting various rollups between desperation moves, and managing to have a counter for everything Hardy did. Hardy managed to counter a Brainbuster on the Knee attempt with a surprising Twist of Fate, but Cole miraculously kicked out. During the entire match, Cole would often take shots at Hardy's knee, even while he was still trying to mount a comeback early on. This eventually paid off, as when Hardy tried for another Twist of Fate, Cole tripped him on his back and applied the Figure-Four Leg Lock and Hardy was forced to tap out. Afterwards, Hardy, who previously had thought very little of Cole, appeared distraught by the loss, but eventually limped over to the TV champion and shook his hand.
- Approx. 15mins

ROH World Tag Team Championship
Steve Corino & "Zombie Princess" Jimmy Jacobs defend vs. Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander

- In another case of underdogs beating the odds, C&C managed to topple SCUM to become the new tag team champions. Corino & Jacobs, in what would've been their 4th defence, fell to the leaping middle-rope Hurricanrana/Frogsplash combo. Overcoming a match full of nefarious tactics from SCUM, including a railroad spike attempt by Jacobs, C&C celebrated with their gold in the crowd after nearly 2 years of climbing the tag team ranks.
- Approx. 12mins

ROH World Championship
Fatal Four-Way

"Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen defends vs. "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin vs. Roderick Strong vs. "The Man Beast" Rhino
- The entire ROH roster is banned from ringside, except for Truth Martini and The Guardians of Truth
- If Strong, Elgin or Rhino win, Truth Martini will become the ROH Executive Producer

- As soon as the bell rang, Roderick Strong attacked Michael Elgin in his corner, beating on him with fast stomps and clubbing blows, while Kevin Steen and Rhino brawled. Truth Martini ordered his Guardians to pull them onto the floor and split them apart, but in the chaos and confusion, Steen did a Senton Dive from the top turnbuckle onto the 5 of them. As Steen sucked in the crowd's cheers, Rhino uncharacteristically wiped him out with a Suicide Dive, to the crowd's amazement.

- Throught the rest of the match, Steen used his cunning tactics to keep the ring to himself and one other opponent at a time, leading to Strong and Elgin not being able to fight each other due to either being incapacitated or in the ring with Steen. Late in the match, Steen just barely managed to dodge a Gore through a cornered table, with Rhino crashing himself headfirst through it. Steen then connected with the F-Cinq, but Strong hit the ring. Unfortunately, he ran right into a second F-Cinq! Before he could pin either man, Elgin was in the ring and staring down Steen. Knowing he can't do anything without Elgin breaking it up, Steen confronts Elgin, while Truth is yelling at him to kill Steen. Elgin audibly dares Steen to give him a Package Piledriver, barking at him to do it, while Mr. Wrestling just laughs in his face and calls him a motherfucker. Suddenly, the champ spits in Elgin's face, lifts him up for the Package Piledriver and connects! He hooks the leg, but to everyone's surprise, Elgin kicks out at 2!!! This is the first time since Final Battle 2010 anyone's kicked out of the move! Steen, though shocked, doesn't miss a beat crawling over to Strong and covering, but that's also a kickout. He pins Rhino immediately after, but it's been too long since the F-Cinq that he also kicks out. Frustrated, Steen turns around but is faced by Elgin, who is already up and looking very sinister into his eyes! Not only did he survive the Package Piledriver, but he's seemingly uninjured. Steen looks scared - the only time he has, apart from when Jay Lethal threatened him with scissors. He flips Elgin off and screams "FUCK YOU!", before going for another Piledriver, but Elgin counters with a Spinning Backfist across the face! In a feat of strength he lifts the champ up and Bucklebombs him, then connects with the Twisting Powerbomb!!! Truth jumps about, celebrating ringside.

- 1...2...-but Strong smacks Elgin across the face with a steel chair! He quickly drags Elgin onto the apron and gives him a Gibson Driver from it, onto the floor! Elgin lands with a loud thud and a "OHHH..." from the crowd, who haven't sat down since that first Piledriver. Back in the ring, Mr. Wrestling slowly makes it back on his feet, but is immediately taken down by the GORE! GORE!! GORE!!! Before the mercenary can even pin Steen and get all the glory, Strong grabs Rhino and throws him out the ring, then drags Steen into the middle where the chair was left. He picks him up and Gibson Driver's Steen onto the chair!!! 1...2...3!!!

Winner and NEW ROH World Champion - Roderick Strong

Truth Martini and The Guardians of Truth slide in the ring, and Truth dives into the new champ's arms. Without even checking on Michael Elgin, Truth raises Strong's arm in victory. He is now the second 2-time ROH World Champion, both reigns being with The House of Truth. Rhino climbs back in the ring, visibly pissed at Strong, but still somewhat content with all the new power belonging to the HoT. With this win, the official role as Ring Of Honor's Executive Producer now belongs to Truth. The former executive producer, Jim Cornette, pleased with the championship finally being rid of Steen, makes his way to ringside and picks up the belt. He hands it over to Truth, who then wraps it around the waist of Strong, who appears smug and proud. The new EP grabs a microphone and Strong's music fades out.

Truth Martini: I am the Super Duper King Kong Mega-Mega Managerial Sensation, also known as "The One", also known as Ring Of Honor's Executive Producer! And as my first act, I will do something that you, Jim Cornette, were too afraid to do. You were concerned with buyrates and legalities and stipulations and all that unimportant HOOPLA, that you didn't do what should have been obvious from the very beginning. Kevin Steen...

Steen is barely on his knees, still loopy from the beating he's just taken from all 3 men.

Martini: ...you are now FIRED from Ring Of Honor! Get that fat waste of life out of here! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

The crowd explodes with boos and Steen tries to pounce at Truth, but Strong blasts him in the head with his new belt and the Guardians drag him out of the ring and presumably out of the building! Cornette is shocked at this happening, but stands aside and lets it happen, since it's no longer his responsibility to deal with the mess of wrongful termination.

Martini: And now for my second act - I will also be removing some more waste, part of the cancer of ROH that I, "The One", am the cure. And I'm not talking Steen's partners in SCUM, Steve "Never-Was" Corino and that gender-confused little boy, Jimmy Jacobs. Jim, who was it that used to say "You stupid old man, I told you I was a snake?" Because, you stupid old man, I told you the truth, but not the whole truth. You're fired too! Security, get him out of here!

Cornette starts yelling furiously and his face goes bright red, but soon there's referees and ringside attendants pulling him out of the ring, much the same way he had Steen carried out when he returned at Best In The World 2011.

Martini: You knew the risk going in, but the House always wins.

Truth sees Elgin recovering at ringside, crawling his way to the back, probably to seek medical help.

Martini: Elgin, you go get yourself sorted out. Because I know you've had some doubts about being in the House of Truth, but I want you to make a decision once you've recovered. And now that I control Ring Of Honor, I'm sure it won't be difficult for you to make amends with our new world champion. Now, as for what this means for ROH itself. The House of Truth has aaaaaaall the power. I am making an open invitation for everyone on the roster, and even the whole wrestling world, to join us. You simpletons in the crowd, and watching at home, are from this point on no longer Ring Of Honor fans - you are now fans of the Ring...Of Truth! There is no Code of Honor, there is a Book of Truth! We will run through our enemies, and save the souls of our friends!

Roderick Strong: And that, my friends, is the motherfucking TRUTH!

Martini: HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Default Re: Ring Of Truth or: ROH 2013

Notes:
- Truth Martini is now officially the ROH Executive Producer, the highest non-Sinclair Broadcast Group position in the company. As Jim Cornette played an important role in SBG's acquisition of ROH, and due to a lack of faith in Martini, as well as disappointment with the running of the promotion since the purchase, SBG officials have opted to to discontinue their investment. There will be no more television, but house shows and iPPVs will continue. ROH is now its own entity and The House of Truth is now responsible for its finances.

- In a highly controversial move, Truth Martini has renamed the company "Ring Of Truth Wrestling" or simply "ROT". It was not clear whether or not this move is permanent. Needless to say, the vast majority of fans and roster members are upset.

- Former Executive Producer Jim Cornette and former ROH World Champion Kevin Steen have both been released. SCUM members and former ROH World Tag Team Champions Steve Corino & Jimmy Jacobs currently remain on the roster. Delirious remains in his role as matchmaker, but it's not known if he'll continue to have the same authority as before.

- Jay Lethal remains suspended until further notice.
- Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team, Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin, were quietly released Christmas morning. Truth was quoted as saying it stemmed from "one too many losses", despite their defeat by Irish Airborne being the only recent loss. It's rumoured that Truth believes their wreckless behaviour is just as much a liability as Steen's was, though that doesn't explain why Corino & Jacobs are still around.

- "Ring Of Truth" will now go back to ROH's format pre-SBG/post-HDNet, with a heavy reliance on house shows and an iPPV schedule of one broadcast every 2-3 months. There will be roughly 2 house show doubleshots each month. The next iPPV is "11th Anniversary Show".

The Era of Truth Begins - Night 1

Proving Ground Match
ROT World Champion Roderick Strong vs. Jay Briscoe

Round III
"American Wolf" Davey Richards vs. "No Fear" Mike Mondo
- "The Nightmare Begins", draw. "Killer Instinct", Mondo.

ROH World TV Championship
Adam Cole defends vs. "The Prodigy" Mike Bennett with Maria Kanellis

Special Challenge
"The Man Beast" Rhino vs. Tadarius Thomas

writer's note - any matches not announced will either be announced on the show, or are irrelevant to any storylines

I really, really like how you've put this together. As I live in Australia it is really hard to get access to RoH stuff. And due to the difficulty and the roster now being quite unknown to me I have stopped looking at the product. Your recaps and set up though of your show has got me intrigued and I can't wait to see what you'll do next with the direction your taking the fed in.

I'm unsure if you're just removing Steen from your roster as you don't like him, OR you are setting up another bad ass run for him, but I guess that's part of the fun of reading a BTB. I like the format and I hope you continue with this. It's great to see someone's interpretation of RoH so keep it up.

As I go along I'll be able to give a better review as I'll start to know who the players are.

Cheers,

Lariatoh!
