OFFICIAL DISCUSSION THREAD

With the start of our tournament on the horizon, we will have a main thread for the proceedings of the tournament (much like last year) and the user/participant discussion of the tournament should only take place in this thread. We appreciate your cooperation.

I am honored to be the primary spokesperson/host of the tournament, and am very excited to see what wonderful pieces our competitors will put out. In saying this, I can tell you now that this year's tournament will be fun, challenging, and much different from the previous tournaments held... but you will find out more about that as the time comes.

Like I said before, the primary thread for the tournament should be up within the next two days or so... but for now, all OOC discussion of the tournament should go here. DISCUSS!

Although I was so close in getting through to the next round, I'm very proud of the effort and work I put in. Every entrance was really good, I really liked Melvis' of course and Coolquip's. The judging must have been hard, what with all these great entrances. I'll definitely keep and eye out for the continuation of this here tourney. Good luck to all who made it through!

No, I think Hulk Hogan is the guy from the Rent-A-Center commercials...

Anyways, I also never really written an entrance like I did for this, most of the time just did very basic stuff and the cliches that wrestler does during her/his entrance.

My entrance was for the Punkster.

Haha. Saw someone posted in this thread and thought the results went up haha. Yay, for anxiousness.

We're leaving together
But still it's farewell
And maybe we'll come back
To earth, who can tell?
I guess there is no one to blame
We're leaving ground, leaving ground
Will things ever be the same again?

IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN
THE FIIIIIINAL COUNTDOOOOOOWN!

If all goes well, the results will be posted today. (I'm in China, so it probably means tomorrow for most of you.) Gonna kill the last of the judging while I have an easy day and shoot them off to Brye. Cheers mates and good luck!

I'll probably come out as a slight ass hole/impatient which is pretty much the instant reaction when someone complains about punctuality & such but I'll go ahead and say it anyways: I would've liked a better organization on this. On the eleventh we were told we'd get it on the thirteenth, on the fourteenth you said it should go up later in the day, and then well it's been four days since then.

I understand it takes time of course, I'm just saying next time around there should be a better understanding of when you expect things to go up instead of making false promises or establishing false ETA for the posts.

That is all. Tried to make that sound as polite as I could e_e Sorry if it didn't come out right.

Nah, I think you made a valid point, I think giving a better projection in the following rounds would help everyone's morale.

Just a quick note to the judges -

For a lot of the higher scoring entries, you didn't really critique them whatsoever. Yes they may have been good and yes it may be hard, but unless they're 80/80 then there has to be something wrong with them or something missing. Unless you're simply chucking random numbers at the scoreboard, there's a reason why you award entries a certain score, so unless they're perfect there has to be something wrong with them, right? So if possible, maybe try and critique the entries and say what they could improve on rather than just saying what you liked. If there was nothing you disliked and you liked every part of it, then surely a perfect score would be given?

I'm not trying to slag you off or criticize your judging by any means, all I'm saying is that some people may want some critique and constructive criticism and feedback rather than just being told what was good. It might just be me, though.

Personally, this tourney doesn't mean a whole lot to me. Not to say I don't care, it just didn't excite me as it seems to have many others. But it obviously means a whole lot for the section. It was warming to see people jumping up at down to participate in something here.

But right now, it's gotten to a point of blatant disrespect on KingRo's part. The rate at which this is dragging is obviously pissing people off, and as some have noted, he hasn't even put up a sticky note of a post stating the condition for the thing. There were many people who were looking forward to this, and I don't know of his situation, but when you have this many people relying on you, make sure you can do it and then do it. If you can't, make accommodations to get someone who can. I wish I had more time on my hands so I could throw my name in the hat for taking the reigns of this.

I hope some of these posts piss off KingRo enough to get moving again, in all honesty.

Oh stop it, you. 8*D

No but seriously, the result legit took my be surprise and even after I read them I still don't think I should have got the highest score out of the bunch. But be that as it may, everyone did a fantastic job, tbh. There wasn't anybody that disappointing and everybody produced something entertaining, which is great to see. (Y) If I were judging, I'd have given the highest score to Melvis... But I'm not judging, so I didn't. :lmao

Well done to all involved. Good job, Brye and Jam, for picking this up when you didn't have to. I'm looking forward to the next round.

This. I'm a HUGE supporter of the new generation, man. Primarily because they're good, but also because that's the way I was brought in. Guys like Nige & DC for instance, they were quite critical but very supportive when I was first coming in... I would love to do the same for the new generation. But I do love my oldheads, haha. Best wishes to EVERYONE in the competition.

Nice to have a good turn out for this, should be good to see where it goes. With a bit of luck, the opening round will be match writing, I find myself better at that than a promo so here's hoping. :p Good luck to everyone who signed up, surely someone can take Melvis off his throne? 8*D

Some people are in for a very big surprise. :punk Haha.

I hope everyone does their best. =) I think the last tournament I fully participated in was the first Worlds Tournament.

I don't really know the people who've been writing from 2006-on (I was mostly involved with Szumi and Wolfy, and spent time returning reviews and such, but yeah most of the stuff I've read regularly were those two) so it'll be interesting to see how things have changed over the last 6 years, if at all.

Looking forward to seeing how this tournament turns out, got a lot of ideas, but can't really be sure what I'll be allowed to use until the rules for the rounds are actually announced.

Just an idea, but it'd be cool if the past King of BTB tournaments could be stickied in one of the sub-forums, possibly the Hall of Fame sub-forum? I enjoyed looking at last years tournament which Crooked Reflection linked to in the sign-up thread. And besides, the winner should be immortalized, right? ;)

Good luck to all participating in the tourney also.
