Re: WWE 2012: Legends and Becoming Legendary
August 20th, 2012 | Viejas Arena | San Diego, California
A video recaps SummerSlam with quick flashes of the Miz, Prime Time Players, Sheamus and CM Punk all holding up their titles. Then we get a final run-through of Brock Lesnar and Triple H’s epic war ending of course with the return of the Undertaker taking out Lesnar post match. The Raw opening video plays and were set for 3 solid hours of action on Monday Night.
We pan through the arena and see all the excited fans of San Diego. Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler greet us and give us a rundown of the night’s events. Raw GM AJ will address the Daniel Bryan situation after his actions at SummerSlam, CM Punk will address the WWE Universe after his big win at SummerSlam, and lastly the fallout from the Undertaker’s return and confrontation with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.
**Here Comes the Pain**
The happy fans get a little less happy as Brock Lesnar and his legal Paul Heyman walk down to the ring. Heyman as always is wearing a nice suit with a white shirt and red tie as Lesnar follows him in his official T-Shirt with the sleeves cut off and some workout pants. We see stitches over the war machine’s eye from this brutal battle last night. The arena is filled with a loud booing noise as Heyman takes the mic with something clearly on his mind.
Heyman: Shut up! We have something to say.
That did not make them shut up as they arena gets louder with “What” Chants. Heyman points at Lesnar and proceeds on.
Heyman: Last night this monster of a man, Brock Lesnar, proved his dominance when he defeated one of the greatest men to ever step into this ring in one of the most brutal matches the WWE has ever seen. Thanks to Brock Lesnar, Triple H will never grace this ring again.
“Triple H” chants now fill the arena to go along with the boos as Heyman presses on.
Heyman: Not only Brock Lesnar defeat Triple H he ended the reign of a monster of a human being at the top of this company. Triple H’s days of bullying everyone below him, his days of attacking innocent bystanders with sledgehammers, everything Triple H has ever accomplishment, gone. Thanks to Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar smiles to bask in the glory of what he has done in the sea of boos that is San Diego.
Heyman: SummerSlam should’ve been a night when Brock Lesnar was celebrated as the greatest, most powerful, most talented specimen to ever enter a WWE ring. But then something changed that.
Cheers start mixing in as we all now know where Heyman is going..
Heyman: The only reason this episode of Raw Supershow is not a full-on celebration of Brock Lesnar’s dominance falls under the blame of one and one man alone.
“Undertaker” Chants begin to pop up as the crowd is excited.
Heyman: That’s right! The Undertaker!
One of the loudest pops you will hear all night right there!
Heyman: Last night the Undertaker took it upon himself to attack, a tired, weakened defenseless man. Brock Lesnar was bloodied, battered, and drained from doing the world a favor and ending Triple H! Attacking a man after he’s just been through a war, I’ve never seen something so disgusting in my life.
Back to boos at the massive hypocrisy at what Paul Heyman is saying.
Heyman: Now the question myself and Brock Lesnar have, is why Undertaker why? Why would an honorable man, or at least someone we thought was an honorable man doing that to Brock Lesnar? Come on out and give us some answers Undertaker.
Everyone in the arena is on edge as they hope the Deadman will make an appearance to confront Brock Lesnar. After about 15 seconds of no response Heyman speaks again.
Heyman: Where are you Deadman?! Come out here! Or are you too big of a coward to meet Brock Lesnar face-to-face. Are you going to keep being a coward?
“You Suck” and “Undertaker” chants coutner each other back and forth.
Heyman: This is your last chance Undertaker, face your fears and confront Brock Lesnar! No sneak attacks, no hiding in the dark, come and face Brock Lesnar!
A dramatic pause as we all wait on edge for the Undertaker. 30 seconds pass on and Michael Cole makes a comment or two as we wait for the Deadman. No one comes so Paul Heyman takes his turn again.
Heyman: So be it, the Undertaker has choosen to be hide in fear. Good thing Brock Lesnar fears no one and since Brock Lesnar is an honorable man we will give you the liberty of a warning Undertaker. We will find you, and you will pay for what you did to Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Undertaker, you will feel the wrath of Brock-..
**Time to Play the Game**
Heyman looks shocked and pissed all at once as he stares the ramp to see “The Game” limp out onto the ramp with a sling on his arm and bandages on his face. The game is wearing athletic pants a t-shirt and is walking very slowly clearly looking like he should be in bed resting. Lawler makes a comment about so much for never seeing Triple H again. Lesnar stares down his nemesis as the WWE COO slowly enters the ring.
Heyman: What the hell are you doing here!? Shouldn’t you be laying in a hospital bed mourning the end of your career somewhere. Brock Lesnar destroyed you, we have no business with you anymore Triple H. So if you don’t want to get hurt anymore I’d advise you leave this ring, right now.
The Game inches over to Lesnar’s legal advisor and gets within a foot of his face.
Heyman: Was the ass kicking you received last night not good enough? Do you want Brock Lesnar to hurt you more because I garu—
Triple H grips Heyman’s throat with his good arm!! Lesnar steps up and stares down the Game but makes no move. Triple H leans and begins to speak on Heyman’s mic.
Triple H: I’m not here, because I have a problem with you gentlemen, even though I could very quickly if you keep talking Paul. Last night, Brock Lesnar was the better man, last night, Brock Lesnar put me through hell, my body is still feeling the effects and I know yours is too Brock. I’m not here to fight, I’m here to speak.
Triple H lets go of Heyman then takes his mic and turns away to speak.
Triple H: I know it’s a cliché to say you wouldn’t wish something up your worst enemy, and I swear I mean it Brock when I say you are one if not my worst enemy. But there a few things in this industry I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy and the road you’re about to go down is one of them Brock.
Lesnar stares at Triple H as Heyman walks away in a little shock
Triple H: Getting involved with the Undertaker is a dark, dark road. It changes men. If you throw yourself in with him like you are right now, there’s no getting out for you Brock. He will consume everything you, I know. I’ve spent a year of my life trying to beat him, trying to tell myself I didn’t matter, and then in the end I felt like I had to end the Undertaker. It consumed me. I was hoping I’d be the last one but now it appears the burden of the Undertaker has fallen on your shoulders Brock.
Lesnar smirks as Triple H continues
Triple H: Brock, you have a chance now to get out while you still can. And that’s what I’d advise you to do. Get out now while you still can, unless you want your life run by a man you can’t see avoid the Undertaker at all costs. If you don’t believe me find that hospital bed you put Shawn Michaels him, ask him what the Undertaker did to him, because it cost him his career. Ask Mick Foley, the Undertaker has taken years off his life. He might be older now but you’re going down the same road those men went Brock, are you sure you want that?
Lesnar smiles then takes his mic and cleans in to talk to Triple H, not speaking through Heyman this time. Lesnar gets about 2 inches away from the Games face as they have a chat.
Lesnar: Pardon me if I do say Hunter but I’m not you, I’m not Mick Foley, and I’m most certainly not Shawn Michaels. I’m a dominating force that men like you could never match, as we clearly saw at SummerSlam no one can stop me, not even the Undertaker. So I’d appreciate it if you left my ring so me and Paul can deal with Undertaker.
Triple H stares at Lesnar and begins to walk to out the ring but then turns around for one last statement.
Triple H: Don’t say you weren’t warned..
Lesnar: And don’t say you weren’t surprised when I do what you couldn’t do. Bring an end to the career of the Undertaker.
Triple H looks mad but he can’t do anything in his condition so he stares Lesnar and Heyman down. The intensity and the tension can be felt from a mile away in this arena. The Game goes back in tunnel as Lesnar and Heyman talk in the ring and we cut to a commercial break.
We return panned on the entrance ramp.
**I Came To Play**
We return in San Diego with some massive heat for the “Awesome” Intercontinental Champion The Miz. Justin Roberts announces this non-title match as the Awesome One walks down to the ring.
Cole: Welcome back to Monday Night Raw ladies and Gentlemen, are you ready to be amazed by the most must-see Intercontinental Champion in WWE history? The Miz.
King: Cole, while I’m not as obsessed with the Miz as you are, I do have to say what the Miz did at SummerSlam against Rey Mysterio was impressive. That was a hell of a win.
Cole: Of course it was King. Miz is the most must-see champion in WWE history. He won the main event of Wrestlemania twenty-seven. Everyone tuned into SummerSlam got see the star of the show first and that’s what they are getting here.
A nice pop as the arena gets dark and the yellow lights come over the ramp as Sin Cara comes out to face the IC Champion in this opening contest.
King: Cole if I could take a moment to break up your love fest for the Miz, I’d like to talk about Sin Cara’s recent win streak. This masked man is on a roll especially after his win last week over Tensai.
Cole: I can’t deny that Sin Cara has been on a hot streak lately King, but I think this the end of that. The Miz will beat Sin Cara just like he beat the last masked man he faced. Rey Mysterio.
Both men square up in the ring as the bell rings and we get the wrestling portion of Raw Supershow going.
Opening Match | Non-Title Match
Intercontinental Champion The Miz vs. Sin Cara
A fun fast paced match to start off just as you would except from two competitors like this, Very similar to Miz’s match with Mysterio at SummerSlam. Sin Cara brought the tempo early with his lucha style going back and forth with some physical moves from the Intercontinental Champion. Sin Cara went top rope for a jumping neck breaker but Miz powered him and then slowed the pace and began to work the neck of the Lucha-Legend.
The Awesome One worked around the mat with some headlocks and an abdominal stretch. Sin Cara fought to break free as the crowd rallied behind him and Michael Cole rallied behind Miz. Sin Cara broke free and then picked up the pace again rallying back with a spinning kick to the chest and another one to the head. Sin Cara made the cover for a near fall. As he looked to continue his offensive he sent Miz flying off the ropes and hit a couple of arm drags. Miz caught a kick and then battled back with a Reality Check for a near fall.
Miz slowly worked over Sin for a minute then went to the top rope for his patented double axe-handles. Sin Cara quickly battled back and went to the top rope and tried to hit his finisher!! Miz fought him off and pushed Sin Cara down to the mat then hit the axehandles!! Sin Cara slowly got to his feet as Miz snuck up behind him and went for the Skull-Crushing Finale! Sin Cara quickly reversed him down into a small package!! 1………..2………..3!! He got it!! Sin Cara pulled off the upset!!
Winner: Sin Cara via pinfall @ 7:58
Post-Match Sin Cara’s music played as he rolled out of the ring and celebrated with the San Diego fans. Miz sat in the center of the ring looking purely shocked grasping his title. The Awesome One looked shocked as Sin Cara raises his arm one last time in victory.
Cole: How can this be!?
Lawler: I told you Michael, don’t sleep on Sin Cara. This man is on a roll. And now he might be the front runner for the next shot at the Miz’s title. I can wait to see these two men face off again.
Cole: Neither can the Miz, he knows that Sin Cara could never beat him twice.
Lawler: We’ll see I guess Michael, but as we press on forward on Raw, don’t forget that later tonight in his hometown of San Diego, Rey Mysterio will go one-on-one with Cody Rhodes.
Cole: And Rey will lose again, just like he did to the Miz at SummerSlam.
Lawler: We’ll see later on I guess.
We see a backstage shot of Ryback swinging his arms around stretching out getting ready to rock as he walks to the ring
Cole: But coming up next, the undefeated monstrous Ryback will be in action.
We return at ringside where see JTG in the ring ready to go jumping up and down as he gets another shot to stop the Monster that is Ryback.
Lawler: One person I would not want to be right now is JTG.
The undefeated, monster of a man walks out to the ring with normal fast paced walk. Quiet “Goldberg” chants break out as Ryback heads to the ring.
Cole: King, I wouldn’t get ahead of myself. Lately we’ve seen some vulnerability from Ryback. JTG might just be the guy to finally stop this man.
Lawler: Michael, Ryback has been in WWE since shortly after Wrestlemania and hasn’t lost yet. The funny thing, I don’t see him losing for a long time.
Ryback vs. JTG
If you’ve ever seen a Ryback versus jobber match you know how this went. JTG got about two moves before being over-powered and dominated. Ryback powered JTG down with the Lastmeal for the win.
Winner: Ryback via pinfall @ 3:14
Ryback stands in the ring and gives a loud “Feed me more” for a massive pop as we cut backstage.
Cole: Another win by Ryback, someday he will be stopped, but tonight was not that night.
Lawler: I wonder if that night will ever come.
Cole: Well even though it wasn’t tonight King, we’ve had an eventful night already. Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman called out the man that attacked him at SummerSlam last night. The Undertaker but there was no response from the Deadman. Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman are still here as far as we know and still want the answers they desire.
Lawler: If Brock Lesnar and the Undertaker come face-to-face once again things might explode here on Raw.
Cole: Well whether or not that happens we still have a big show ahead of us. Last night at SummerSlam Daniel Bryan snapped on Kane with that chair last night. First off, I fear for Daniel’s livelihood with what Kane could in response, but also I fear for his place in the WWE as Raw General Manager and Bryan’s ex-fiancé AJ will address his situation later tonight.
We see a backstage “next” shot of the WWE Champion CM Punk walking to the ring to a mixed reaction.
Lawler: But coming up next, WWE CM Punk will be here in the ring to talk about his huge victory at SummerSlam. I can’t wait to see what he has to say for that victory edged out.
Cole: A win is a win King.
We return at ringside..
**Cult of Personality**
A mixed reaction as the smarks will still cheer their champion. CM Punk makes his way to the ring in his wrestling gear proudly holding his WWE Championship that he’s now held for 9 months over his shoulder. Punk gets into the ring and takes a microphone as he wants to say something.
CM Punk: Are you surprised? Because I’m not. I’ve now held this WWE Champion for nine months. I’ve defeated every challenge thrown at me. Hell I’ve beat John Cena and the Big Show before I don’t know why people are so shocked I did it again!
A back and forth chant of “CM Punk” and “We want Cena” breaks out.
CM Punk: I can read off my list of accomplishments in the last nine months if you want me to but I think it should go without saying that I’m the best in the world, I am one of the longest reigning WWE Champions ever. I defeated John Cena and the Big Show again last night. That sounds damn impressive I know. But what I don’t know, is why I’m still not getting respected as champion.
The mixed reaction is starting to favor heat now.
CM Punk: I beat John Cena and the Big Show fair and square last night! There is nothing illegal about what I did, I did not cheat like past champions. I saw an opportunity and I took it. That’s what good champions do. If you don’t believe me look at the legendary careers of Edge, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H. They’ve all done it and they were all great champions, just like I am a great champion.
Punk smirks and looks around as his mixed reaction gets louder.
CM Punk: I guess I just don’t understand why people are saying I didn’t deserve to win last night. They say Big Show should be champion, because he controlled the match. Supposedly he dominated myself and John Cena. To anyone that believes that, let me ask you this. Did Big Show pin anyone in that match?
Silence around the arena
CM Punk: That’s what I thought. Then there’s the people that say John Cena deserves to be WWE Champion since he put away the Big Show for my pinfall.
A small “Cena” chant breaks out
CM Punk: Now I know you all want your dearly beloved hero John Cena to be on top of the mountain again. A mountain he hasn’t been on top of for nearly a year now. But let me ask you this. Did John Cena pin anyone in the WWE Championship match last night?
Again no crowd response.
CM Punk: Exactly! You know who did score a pinfall in the WWE Championship Match at SummerSlam? Me! CM Punk did, because CM Punk is the best in the world. And as far as I’m concerned no one else is even on my level.
**Crank it Up**
Punk gets a disappointed look on his face as one of the men he beat last night comes out and interrupts him. The Big Show makes his way to the ring looking as pissed off as possible. He enters the ring with a microphone and confronts the WWE Champion.
CM Punk: Can I help you?
Show hesitates in thought for a second and then speaks to the champ
Big Show: No Punk actually you can’t. You can’t help me because I don’t want you to help me. What I want you to do is shut your mouth.
Punk makes a questioning face as the World’s Largest Athlete as Show continues his speech
Big Show: The fact of the matter is despite all of your accomplishments in the last year you don’t deserve to be the WWE Champion Punk. I do, I’m the World’s Largest Athlete. I have the most luxurious, iron-clad contract in the WWE and no one dominates the ring like I do. Last night at SummerSlam I dominated you and John Cena the entire match and you just got lucky Punk.
Punk chuckles as Big show continues
Big Show: I deserve that belt Punk, and if you ever find the balls to face me for it. I’ll prove it. No one deserves to a world champion more than the Big Show.
Punk keeps laughing as Big Show appears to grow angrier.
Big Show: Is something funny?!?
Punk contains himself and then proceeds onto speak his mind
CM Punk: Thanks for asking, because actually yes there is. I find that whole little speech hilarious. Because it’s obviously just an act to convince yourself you’re still a force in this company when honestly, even though you stopped laughing and dancing with Santino and all that crap anymore, you’re still a joke.
Big Show looks enraged as Punk continues on.
CM Punk: Have you won a big match since you signed that iron-clad contract? Seriously all I remember is you losing to John Cena time after time and then getting pinned by me at SummerSlam.
Show goes to cut him off but Punk gets the word in before Show can
CM Punk: Shut up! I’m the only world champion in this ring and I will talk over you if I want to because I can. You don’t deserve to be champion because you don’t win matches. I win matches! I’m the best in the world! That’s why I have this title!
The crowd is now rallying behind Punk as he’s playing the face against Big Show.
CM Punk: And honestly even if our incompetent and honestly less than mentally stable general manager gave you a title shot against me one-on-one like you want you couldn’t beat me anyway. There is one thing that I do well and one thing you do well. I win matches and you lose them. So I think the math is pretty clear there.
Show looks enraged as he steps up to Punk and appears to be about to take this a physical confrontation
**My Time is Now**
A loud standing ovation as John Cena runs out on the ramp and salutes the crowd. Cena runs to the ring much to the chagrin of both Punk and Big Show who make faces at him as he enters the ring. Cena smiles and looks at Punk, then over at Show and then back over at Punk and his WWE Championship. Cena takes the mic and is ready for his turn to talk amongst the two men he faced at SummerSlam.
Cena: Hello, San Diego!
A large pop for Cena as he panders to the crowd.
Cena: And hello CM Punk and the Big Show. I heard your guys conversation from the back and I couldn’t help but give my input to what you are saying..
Punk cuts him off before he even makes a point
Punk: Of course you couldn’t John, because that’s who you are. I respect what you do in the ring, I respect the things you do for Make-A-Wish and various other charities John I really do. But in the end that doesn’t change what I think of you in general. I think you hog spotlights, I think you’re overrated and I don’t think that what you’re about to say will have any meaning to anything.
Cena looks a little stern has Punk continues on with his rant
Punk: I know you’ve developed this little gimmick now where you come out here interrupt some people, crack some jokes, say nice things about the city where in. “Oh my god, I love San Diego it’s so classy. Where do I meet Ron Burgundy?” But guess what John? In the grandest scheme of things what you say carries no weight right now.
Cena’s facial expression gets a little madder
Punk: I’ll save you the trouble of even talking right now, because I already know the bullet points of your little speech. You’re going to say, blah blah, blah, I deserve to be the champion, blah blah, I’m the best in the world. Blah, I want this more than anything, blah blah blah. John we’ve heard it all before and no matter how many times you say it to these people and how much they love you for it won’t change the basic fact that I’m the WWE Champion, I am the best in the world, and you are not.
Cena has no response as Punk pauses and waits for one then continues on.
Punk: That’s what I thought Johney boy, so if you don’t mind both of you should stop wasting everyone watching’s time and get out of this ring so they can find me a real challenger that I haven’t already beat.
Cena cuts him off right there
Cena: You’re looking at one right here.
Punk smirks back and starts laughing.
Cena: I don’t see what’s so funny Punk, I’ve had two chances to beat you for that title since you won it last year at Survivor Series and as far as I recall I haven’t been pinned either time. In fact, I think I helped you get a pin last night.
Punk looks frustrated
Cena: Everything you said in your little speech isn’t wrong. I do love this and want this more anything and I would in fact like to meet Ron Burgundy before I leave San Diego but here’s the part where it skews off.
Punk looks interested as ever in what Cena has to say.
Cena: You may honestly believe you are the best in the world, but so should every other WWE superstar. Including myself. If I didn’t believed I didn’t deserve to be the WWE Champion I’d be in the wrong business. I’ve enjoyed this last year because I’ve had a chance to live my dream as a WWE superstar but that being said something was missing. The WWE Championship and I’d be damned to say you don’t deserve after the nine month run you’ve pulled off.
Punk smiles and nods
Cena: But I’d be damned to say I don’t think I can beat you for it. If you want my credentials I have them, but I don’t think that matters in this case because we both know who the two best wrestlers in the world are, and it’s John Cena and CM Punk. That’s the match people want to see and I think you’d be a fool not to give it to them.
Punk looks around thinking and staring at his title as Big Show looks frustrated to not be included in this conversation when..
The Raw General Manager AJ makes her way to the ramp and skips around with a big happy smile on her face.
AJ: Gentlemen, gentlemen you’ve all made very compelling cases for yourselves as who is the best on Raw and who deserves to be the WWE Champion. But the man in this conversation that brought up most things that stood out to me was the champ himself, Mr. CM Punk.
Punk smiles big and wide and nods sarcastically for everyone to see him as AJ continues on.
AJ: Punk, it is true you’ve held that title for nine months now, it is true you have beaten everything in your way and it is true you are a great champion. It’s also true, that you called me..I believe your wording was “Incompetent and unstable?” Not a good choice of words Punk.
Punk’s smiles quickly goes away.
AJ: So Punk keeping this all in mind, I’m going to do something a little unstable as you would say and put you to the ultimate test at Night of Champions in one month. Beating two men at SummerSlam was impressive, but how will you deal with beating 4?
Punk screams what from the ring as AJ laughs and continues on.
AJ: That’s right Punk, and you haven’t even heard what kind of match it is. I’m giving you the ultimate opportunity to prove your metals as a champion when you defend your WWE Championship at Night of Champions, in a Scramble Match!
A huge pop and a smile on the face of John Cena and Punk freaks out screaming in the ring Punk fines his mic again and takes his tirade to AJ.
Punk: You can’t do this to me! I deserve better! Four other men! Four Men?? Are you kidding me AJ I’ve been a champion for nine months I deserve better than this!
AJ smiles and responds
AJ: Unfortunately for you Punk, I am not kidding you. You will face four other men that will be decided in qualifying matches later tonight. And since John Cena and the Big Show want to get so involved in the WWE Title scene I’ll announce their matches right now.
Cena and Big Show look up at the Raw General Manager.
AJ: Tonight in our main event John you will have a chance to qualify for the Championship Scramble, when you face the man that failed to win the World Heavyweight Title last night. Alberto Del Rio!!
A mixed reaction of cheers for Cena being in the main event and boos for Alberto.
AJ: And Big Show since you’re so anxious you to prove you deserve to be a World Champion you’re match will be right now and your opponent? Well, I’ll just bring him out since he’s going to be facing after the commercial break.
A huge pop as Randy Orton comes out with a grin on his face as he stares down the Big Show. Show looks back and stares down his opponent.
Cole: What an announcement! What a match! Randy Orton versus Big Show for a spot in the Scramble at Night of Champions! Next!
Match 3 | WWE Championship Scramble Qualifying Match
Randy Orton vs. Big Show
Not the most interesting fast paced match you’ll see in your life. Which makes sense give the competitors in the match, it picked up towards the end. After about 6 minutes of slow paced nothingness with Big Show controlling the Viper Orton battled back with a big upper cut that rocked Show backwards. Orton attempted to throw Show through the rope but Show caught himself in ropes. Orton quickly advanced and hit his patented second rope DDT on the World’s Largest Athlete. Orton covered for a 2 count before Big Show kicked out. Orton tried to rally his normal run of offense whipping Show around off the ropes and hitting some clotheslines. The WWE’s Apex Predator went for a Scoop Slam but he couldn’t lift Show at a rapid speed and Show fell on Orton in a lateral press position for a 1………..2…..just a two. Orton pushed him off at 2.
Orton tries to rally back as Show whips the Viper into the corner and plants him with a huge smack to the chest. Orton sells the pain in his chest as Big Show grabs him for a chokeslam, but Orton fights him away. The Viper quickly springs for an RKO but Show pushes him away into the ropes. Orton comes straight into a spear! Orton screams in pain and the crowd goes silent as Big Show covers for a 1………..2….Orton survives again. Show screams at the ref that he got a three which allows Orton some time to get some punches in and battle back. Orton whipped Big Show off the ropes and the two former World Champions collided in the center of the ring and bounced apart from each other. Show came back for a clothesline but the Viper ducked under and hit his signature Backbreaker! Orton covered for a 1………….2……Show throws the much smaller Orton off.
Orton gets frustrated and as Cole says “Goes to that other place” as he stalks his prey and pounds the mat. RKO Attempt! Show pushes Orton away and sends back off the ropes the Viper comes back right into Shows massive clutches! CHOKESLAM!! Big Show’s got it, he’s going to Night of Champions after he covers…..1…………2………..Orton gets his foot on the rope! The Viper survives the chokeslam! Show can’t believe it and begins to scream at the ref for screwing him. Show yells something about them screwing him out of the title again as he turns around to deal with Orton who’s up on his feet. RKO!! The Viper strikes! Cover! 1…………2………….3!! Randy Orton qualifies for the Championship Scramble!
Winner: Randy Orton via pinfall @ 10:16
The Viper rolls out of the ring under the ropes as the ref raises his arm. Orton smiles and nods as Big Show sits in the ring looking a combination of shocked and frustrated as he is realizing he isn’t going to get the chance to win the WWE Championship he feels he deserves.
We cut to the interview area where Josh Mathews is standing by.
Mathews: My guest joining me at this time, is a San Diego native, and will face Cody Rhodes later tonight. Ladies and Gentlemen, Rey Mysterio!
A huge pop from inside the arena as Mathews interviews their hometown hero.
Mathews: Now Rey, last night at SummerSlam you came up short in your attempt to win the Intercontinental Championship for the Miz, now tonight you will face Cody Rhodes, what would a win do for you tonight as you look to get another shot at the Miz.
Rey smiles through his mask which is white tonight and then speaks
Mysterio: Josh, a win tonight in my hometown for San Diego, the 619 itself would be huge for many reasons.
A nice hometown pandering pop
Mysterio: Cody Rhodes is an old rival of mine and a very tough competitor but I know I can beat tonight in front of my friends and family. A win over a Cody Rhodes will definitely help me climb back up the ladder to the Intercontinental Title or even to a world title. Being a champion means so much these days with some of the great competitors we have in the WWE today, you have to make the most out of very match.
More inside cheers
Mysterio: Last night, I let an opportunity slip through my finger tips when I lost to the Miz in Los Angeles. Tonight in San Diego, I won’t let that happen again.
The cheers turn to heat as Rey turns to right to see his old rival and opponent later tonight Cody Rhodes standing next to him.
Rhodes: You really feel that way Rey? Because I don’t feel like you’re going to seize this opportunity in your hometown. I feel tonight I will tear you apart and reveal as what you are. Just like I attempted to at Wrestlemania 27 when I defeated you. An ugly, cowardly fraud. Just like Sin Cara.
Rhodes is getting massive heat from inside the arena
Rhodes: Just like Sin Cara you wear a mask because you’re ugly, and you’re scared to face the world as you are. You have to cover up your flaws with that mask Rey. Well I have a newsflash for you, tonight in your hometown I will reveal you for what you are. A coward, and a loser. And then Friday Night on Smackdown, Sin Cara is next.
The now irritated Rey Mysterio responds to Cody in a very angry tone
Mysterio: I’m just like Sin Cara? Hasn’t Sin Cara beaten you two or three times in the last month?
Rhodes now gets an angry look on his face
Mysterio: That’s what I thought buddy. Don’t worry I’ll be sure to show you what people like me and Sin Cara are really like tonight out in the ring.
Rey walks out of the picture as Cody is left looking a little pissed off. We get a quick of a spilt screen where we see Kane and Chris Jericho walking to the ring and a “Next graphic”
Cole: Don’t change the channel folks because we name a second challenger to CM Punk’s WWE Title in the Scramble Match coming up next when Chris Jericho faces Kane.
We return at ringside where were focused in on the tron.
**Break the Walls**
A huge pop for Y2J himself, Chris Jericho fresh off a big victory over Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam, proving he once again can win the big one.
Lawler: I’m excited for this match Cole, Chris Jericho won the big one last night at SummerSlam and has a ton of momentum coming his way. A win tonight and WWE Title shot could be all Jericho needs to return to the top of the mountain.
Cole: I wouldn’t get to far ahead of ourselves King, he got lucky last night and caught Dolph Ziggler. I’m still not sure he can win big matches on a consistent basis anymore. Not to mention his opponent..
Mixed reaction as the Devil’s Favorite Demon makes his way to the ring. Kane walks out to the ring not showing any emotion but getting a very serious staredown from Y2J.
Cole: Tonight is not the night I would want to face Kane, especially after what Daniel Bryan did to him last night. Savagely attacking him with a chair.
Lawler: I can’t disagree with that Cole, Kane is not the man I would want to face today. Jericho’s gonna have a tough one.
Cole: The only man I feel worse for right now than Chris Jericho is Daniel Bryan. We know AJ will address his situation in the ring later tonight, if I’m Daniel Bryan I’m rooting for Chris Jericho to put a beating on Kane right now so he doesn’t make an appearance when Bryan and AJ speak.
Lawler: That is also easier said done Cole. Especially in a match with as high of stakes as this one. A shot at the WWE Title on the line.
Match 4 | WWE Championship Scramble Qualifying Match
Chris Jericho vs. Kane
Kane did not waste a second to express his anger on Jericho storming him with punches and chop attempts. Jericho took advantage of Kane’s over aggression and rolled out of the ring to get away from the Monster in full-force. After about a five second breather Kane joined Jericho at ringside and began to chase him around the ring. Jericho quickly got back into the ring and shot himself off the ropes for a sliding dropkick into the Big Red Machine as he attempted to back into the ring. Jericho slowly entered into the ring leaving Kane laying on the outside hoping for a count-out victory. Unfortunately for Jericho Kane got back in the ring in about 5. Jericho tried to use his speed to get at Kane but he ate a big boot on the way there. Kane took control of the match and it was not good for Jericho from here.
Kane landed some punches and Jericho threw a jab back which did no good for his cause as it only made the Devil’s Favorite Demon worse.
Kane gripped Jericho’s throat and pressed him into the corner staring into the frightened eyes of Y2J. Kane chops Jericho’s chest and then screams “DO YOU LIKE THE PAIN DANIEL!?” Jericho looks confused and inpained as Kane rocks with an uppercut “I LIKE THE PAIN DANIEL, I LOVED THOSE CHAIRS, HIT ME AGAIN DANIEL!” Kane goes for a chokeslam but Jericho spins out and lands some leg kicks buckling Kane at the knees. Kane loses a little pop in his step since as he comes back at Jericho for a clothesline but Jericho ducks under and hits a sliding drop kick into the knee. Kane’s leg appears to failing him as Jericho comes at the buckled Demon for a codebreaker but he Kane uses his power to slam Jericho to the mat. Jericho springs and ducks under Kane’s chokeslam attempt and fires back with another drop kick at the knee. Jericho quickly drops to the mat and applies a figure-four leg lock onto the bad leg!! Jericho is going to try to tap out the Big Red Monster!!
Jericho and Kane roll around the mat with Kane’s leg still in the lock. Jericho screams at Kane to tap but Kane won’t have it as it appears he is not feeling pain. Jericho yells at the ref to ask him but the ref appears distracted as the arena fills with boos. VICKIE GUERRERO IS ON THE APRON DISTRACTING THE REFEREE! Jericho sees it and then wonders where Dolph Ziggler is but then he meets Ziggler head on as Ziggler BASHES HIM OVER THE HEAD WITH THE MONEY IN THE BANK BRIEFCASE!! Jericho is knocked out cold the now fraustrated Kane stands up to the ref’s attention and hits Jericho with a massive chokeslam! Kane looks at Jericho’s lifeless body laying on the mat and let’s out one last “DANIEL!!!” Before lifting Jericho up and planting him with a tombstone piledriver!! Kane finally covers and gets the 1………2…….3. Kane is going to Night of Champions, with a little help from Dolph Ziggler.
Winner: Kane via pinfall @ 7:42
Post-Match Kane sets off his pyro on the ringpost as Jericho lays lifeless in the center of the ring. We get a good shot off the ramp where see Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero in their fine designer clothes, Dolph dressed in a suit jacket and pink button-up and Vickie wearing a nice black and blue dress. Dolph smiles holding his briefcase to see what he just caused to the man that beat him the night before at SummerSlam. We get one last shot of Kane as he now will join CM Punk and Randy Orton in the WWE Championship Scramble Match
We appear backstage in John Cena’s locker room where we see the face of the WWE tying his shoe as he prepares for his main event match against Alberto Del Rio with a shot in the WWE Championship Scramble on the line when his opponent, Alberto Del Rio himself appears to confront to Cena.
Del Rio: John Cena, the star of Monday Night Raw, the face of the W-W-E. What name to add to my resume of people I beat on my way to achieving my destiny of becoming WWE Champion once again.
Cena looks confused as he looks up at Del Rio
Cena: I thought you said your destiny was to defeat Sheamus last night and become World Heavyweight Champion at SummerSlam..
Del Rio chuckles and continues on.
Del Rio: Ah funny you mention that John Cena, because I thought that was my destiny too. Until I was given a blessing by AJ tonight and a shot at the WWE Championship once I defeat you.
Cena looks puzzled as Del Rio rolls on.
Del Rio: Beating a mere peasant like Sheamus will mean nothing compared to defeating the star of the company! And then defeating four other men in one of the most competitive matches in the WWE. The scramble match! It will be an honor to defeat you tonight and achieve my destiny of becoming World Champion once again!
Cena steps up into Del Rio’s grill.
Cena: That all sounds nice. But I don’t believe a word of what you just said. You lost last night was because Sheamus was better then you.
Del Rio shakes his head in disagreement
Cena: Then tonight when you’re thinking of new reasons it was your destiny to lose to me, just remember, it had nothing to do with destiny. It was because I was better then you, and I wanted to get back to the top of the mountain more than nothing and I wasn’t going to let Alberto Del Rio get in my way.
The Mexican Aristocrat looks shocked at what Cena came at him with Cena pats Del Rio on the back and then walks out of the picture
Cena: See you in the ring, champ.
We return at ringside where get a nice of view of the ring and stage again.
**La Vittoria e Mia**
The United States Champion Santino Marella comes out to a massive pop blowing kisses and doing his normal routine as he walks down to the ring high fiving fans while wearing his official WWE T-Shirt and jeans. Santino picks up a microphone and places his title as firmly as Santino Marella possibly could over his shoulder as he gets into the ring.
Santino: Helloo San Di-ago! And welcome to Monday Night Raw!
Santino gets his normal cheap Santino like pops
Santino: We ares a mear twenty-four hours in the future away from the SummerSlam last night. The SummerSlam that was kicked off with a Pre-Show. A Pre-Show that featured a match. A match that featured Santino Marella defending his United States Chompionship against Antonio Cesaro! A match won by the United States Chompion himself, Santino Marella!
A huge little kids pop
Santino: and his dear friend the cobra!
A loud of cheers. Apparently the Cobra has a large fanbase in San Diego.
Santino: Now San Di-ago just like CM Punk has had an impressive nine month WWE Chompionship reign or so he claims. Santino Marella has had a pretty impressive United States title reign himself, six months long and still holding the belt. Jack Swagga’, Ricardo Rodriguez, David Otunga, and Antonio Cesaro have all fallen by the way side at the wrath of the Santino and the Cobra themselves!
Santino smiles as the arena basks in the glory of his somehow six month reign.
Santino: Santino and CM Punk are both great chompions, but we don’t agree on much but one vision I see the same as CM Punk is that we are both great champions in our own divisions. CM Punk wants to be ackownledged as one of the greatest WWE Chompiones of all time and Santino feels the same way about the United States Championship.
A mixed reaction from the smarks that hate Santino and the normal fans that love him and hate the Intellectual Savior Damien Sandow makes his way to the ring in his trademarked purple and white bathrobe. Santino looks shocked that someone would dare interrupt him. Sandow doesn’t appear to care what Santino thinks as he enters the ring with a microphone
Sandow: I’ve followed the WWE for quite a long time, and I’ve seen my fair share of stupidity. While I watched that stupidity I swore to myself that someday I would bring a stop to it.
Santino looks perplexed.
Sandow: Are you confused Santino, was that a little over your head. I just called everything you just said stupid! Actually I would go farther than stupid, I would say idiotic, and untruthful.
Santino growls and does a little “What!?” Tirade as there is still a mixed reaction.
Sandow: The fact that you are United States Champion disgusts me Santino. It has disgusted me for a long time. For a while I was content to sit in the back and watch you make a mockery of yourself, I had bigger fish to fry. The dancing fool Brodus Clay who I put on the shelf with a knee injury. Woo Woo You Suck! Zack Ryder. They were the impiety of stupidity for a while, and I took them out.
Santino’s temper appears to be steaming but he’s holding it in.
Sandow: Then you gave that little speech you just gave and it made me realize I was looking in the wrong places to intellectually save the WWE. I was focued on a dancing bafoon that thinks he’s a dinosaur and a Pauley D rip-off when we have a champion here, whose been parading around as a United States Champion for five and a half months thinking he deserves the belt when it’s all been a joke.
Santino begins shaking in anger.
Sandow: The way you won the title from Jack Swagger with the help of every member of Team Teddy Long helping you out was a joke. All of your title defensives have been a joke I mean did you listen to that list you read off?
Santino can’t control his mouth for a second
Santino: They were all fierce competitors!!
Sandow s......s, then gets serious!
Sandow: Fierce competitors! Right, a General Managers Assistant slash lawyer slash Mr. Jennifer Hudson who nobody took seriously as a wrestler. A ring announcer! You defended your title against a ring announcer! Then you got lucky last night with that stupid cobra against Antonio Cesaro, but I hate to say you’re luck with me will not be the same.
Santino looks pissed and the cobra begins to cock
Santino: This is enough, you have berated my chompionchip celebration enough! You will now face the wrath of the cobra and pay for your sins!
Before Santino can say another word Sandow jumps up and hits his trademark NECKBREAKER! The Intellectual Savior watches Santino hit mat in pain as the United States Title fell at his side. Sandow stomps on Santino a couple times before picking up his title and standing over him with the US Title held high to massive heat. Damien Sandow has just made a statement.
Cole: Damien Sandow has just made a statement. Whether you believe what he said about Santino or not, you can’t deny that Sandow is now a real contender for the United States Championship.
Lawler: I don’t know Cole, I think he might’ve went a little too far though. Santino has held that a belt a long time and deserves some credit for what he’s done.
Cole: None the less it’s still a big night with a lot left to come here on Monday Night Raw. In his hometown of San Diego, Rey Mysterio will go one-on-one with Cody Rhodes, who vowed to prove Rey as the fraud that both him and his friend Sin Cara are.
Lawler: Also tonight, Daniel Bryan will be addressed by AJ live and in the ring after he did to Kane last night. We know how Kane feels about the situation after his savage attack of Chris Jericho in their WWE Championship Scramble Qualifying Match. How will AJ handle the situation of Bryan’s anger problem tonight.
Cole: Plus we still have to name two more challengers to CM Punk’s WWE Championship in the Scramble Match at Night of Championships. We know one match will feature Alberto Del Rio and John Cena in our main event tonight. But who else will join Randy Orton and Kane to challenge CM Punk.
**Stars of the Show**
The new WWE Tag Team Champions The Prime Time Players make their way out to the ring to some massive heat joined by their agent AW from AW Productions. The two men are dressed to wrestle proudly carrying their new titles over their shoulders. The champs make their way to the ring and AW has a mic.
AW: Last night there were two stars that shined above all last night in the city of the stars itself Los Angeles. Not Brock Lesnar and Triple H, not John Cena and CM Punk, not Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. It was the NEW WWE Tag Team Champions, Titus O’Neil and Darren Young, the Prime Time Players!!
Young and O’Neil hold up their titles.
AW: So get your popcorn ready San Diego because y’all are about to see a show!
The former WWE Tag Team Champions Primo and Carlito come out joined by their lovely valet Rosa Mendes. Considering their long time rivalry with the Primetime Players and their former alliance with AW this should be a good one.
Match 5 | Non-Title Match
WWE Tag Team Champions The Primetime Players w/AW vs. Primo & Epico w/Rosa Mendes.
A very very standard tag team match to get over the Primetime Players as Champions. Normal tag match format. Primo and Epico got a few moves in early before Titus O’Neil overpowered Epico. Setting up the normal long work over sequence where the Prime Players had Epico in their grasps as he fought hard to get back to Primo. A cool spot in Epico’s struggle when he thought was breaking free from the clutches of Titus O’Neil as he escaped an abomdinal stretch and went for a dropkick to create space but Titus slapped Epico’s feet to the ground knocking him out of mid-air. Epico hit the ground with a thud and was back in the control of the PTP.
Eventually Epico reversed Darren Young’s suplex attempt into a DDT setting up a hot tag to O’Neil and Primo. Primo’s speed and O’Neil’s power made for a good sequence where they went back and forth for a while when Primo hit a dropkick and that rattled Titus for a nearfall but Darren Young came in and broke it up. Epico used this as opportunity to involve himself and double team Young with Primo. The Puerto Rican team double team whips Young off the ropes and then hits a double dropkick! Epico went off the ropes for a running splash on the downed Young but the former NXT superstar rolled out of the way! Epico fell on his ass in pain felt even more and Titus O’Neil got up and drilled him the face with a boot. Epico rolled out of the ring leaving just Primo who made a move at Big Titus who scooped him and planted him down on Darren Young’s knees for the Gut Check! Primo grabbed his rib screaming in pain as Titus covered for the win.
Winners: The Primetime Players via pinfall @ 5:22
Post match AW runs into the ring and raises their arms. AW gets a mic
AW: Once again I present to your wins, the WWE Tag Team Champions, the new stars of the WWE, the faces of the WWE, the Prime-Time-
The former Tag Team Champions that AW assisted the PTP in defeating, Kofi Kingston and R-Truth come in street clothes. Both wearing nice jeans. Truth is wearing a white button-up shirt and Kingston a nice black polo. The former champs say nothing and mearly cut off AW and signal for the belts around their waists. We see one last shot of Jaw-Jacking between Kingston and Truth and the champions before we cut to commercial.
Cole: The Primetime Players made their statement in the ring, but Kofi Kingston and R-Truth made their’s also. This rivalry is not over.
Lawler: Neither is the rivalry between former World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan and his ex-fiancé the Raw General Manager AJ. Last night at SummerSlam Bryan basically spat in the face of AJ’s wishes for him to face Kane address his anger by attacking Kane with a chair and causing a disqualification. Tonight AJ promised to address Bryan’s situation and she will do so next!
We return to the arena and focus straight in on the ring where the Raw General Manager AJ is standing in the center of the ring.
AJ: Hello San Diego! I hope you’re enjoying another fun episode of Monday Night Raw!
AJ gets a pop since it is San Diego and they love everything
AJ: That’s my goal every week is to give the people of the WWE Universe a nice fun episode of Raw, however this job isn’t always as simple as that. Sometimes hard decisions will your way. Vince McMahon told me that when he offered me the job but I never fully realized it is until I got some time on the job. Now tonight, I’m forced with one of those hard decisions. What today with the embattled, angry, and unstable Daniel Bryan.
Major heat at the mention of Daniel Bryan
AJ: So Daniel if you would be so kind as to come out here we need to have a chat.
AJ pauses and waits for her Ex-Fiancé.
**Flight of the Valkyries**
Daniel Bryan comes to the ring in his wrestling gear and his new burgundy “NO! NO! NO!” Shirt. Bryan looks angry, which is not what AJ wants as he approaches the ring with a scowl on his face. Daniel stares AJ down as he circles around the ring. AJ lifts her mic and decides to speak first as Daniel clearly has nothing to say.
AJ: Now Daniel, I’ve been concerned about your angry problem for a long time, not just as your boss, but as your friend, and I like to believe were still friends even after what happened.
Bryan’s face starts turning red as he appears to be steaming.
AJ: Which is why I sent you to several therapy classes once I got the power to do so, unfortunately you didn’t take those classes serious so we had to take a more practical approach. So I gave you a match with Kane at SummerSlam hoping you could have your angry diseased cured and focus on what you’re good at Daniel, wrestling.
Bryan’s expression doesn’t change despite the complement as AJ continues
AJ: Then Daniel what do you do with my opportunity? What did you do with the chance I gave you to prove yourself as a man and defeat the Big Red Monster? Huh?
Bryan makes eye contact with AJ and then begins breathing deeply and pacing around not saying anything to his former lover.
AJ: I’m waiting..
Bryan puts his head and then begins to quiver. He looks at AJ who is smiling right him holding her microphone. AJ twirls her finger saying she’s waiting as Bryan looks down again and then jumps up in her face!
Bryan: I ATTACKED KANE WITH A CHAIR! ARE YOU HAPPY AJ!? I said it! I attacked him with a chair because I didn’t deserve to be in that match I should be competing for the WWE Championship not messing around with Kane!
Kane smiles and nods as Bryan walks around the ring now ranting.
Bryan: I had to prove my superiority, that wasn’t about a win or a loss. I left Kane knocked out because I didn’t need to beat him to prove I’m the best! I am the best AJ! And the fact you don’t acknowledge it by giving me a WWE Championship Match makes me sick! I’m sick of it AJ!
AJ smiles and laughs demonically in her pant suit as Bryan stares at her.
Bryan: WHY ARE YOU LAUGHING!? IS THIS FUNNY TO YOU!? Or is it because you’re right? Oh look at me I’m AJ I’m right that Daniel Bryan gets mad sometimes! Awesome! I don’t care about you as a person anymore AJ, I don’t care. I care about winning world championships, and I need you to get me that opportunity.
AJ smiles and speaks
AJ: Daniel it’s clear you have an anger problem and I’m not so sure you are mentally stable enough to contend for the WWE Championship.
Bryan’s rage continues to build up as he begins to shout again!
Bryan: I’M NOT MENTALLY STABLE ENOUGH! IF YOU WANT SEE UNSTABLE I’ll SHOW IT TO YOU RIGHT NOW!
Bryan rolls out of the ring with mic and grabs a chair from by the bell table.
Bryan: I was fine before, but now I actually am angry AJ and you don’t want to see me when I’m angry!
Bryan drops his mic and begins to bang the ground repeatedly with a chair! Bryan lets a out a scream then takes a swing the ringpost the chair! Bryan throws the chair to the ground and begins to stomp on it.
Bryan: NOW I’M ANGRY AJ and I think I’m going to stay angry until I become WWE Champion so if you want me to calm down I’ll probably have to get a title opportunity sometime soon! Otherwise I’ll just stay angry!
AJ actually looks a little in fear as Bryan bashes the chair on the ground a couple more times.
AJ: After everything I’ve done for you this how you repay me..
Bryan looks even more enraged from ringside
Bryan: I can think of a lot of things you did for me AJ none which are good..
AJ makes a face at Bryan as she appears to be getting angry
AJ: How about telling Kane I would fire him if he touched you tonight, because I know that if I didn’t he would’ve destroyed you already Daniel. So you can thank me for that anytime.
Bryan looks humbled as AJ continues
AJ: And to be honest I still believed in you Daniel, I really believed that you could change so I was going to give you a championship scramble qualifier at no cost but now I’m mad so you will get chance to get a WWE Title Shot tonight. But next week on Raw, you will have to face Kane again!
That big match gets a huge pop
AJ: In a No Holds Barred Match!
An even bigger pop for a huge match next week. Bryan looks enraged as he bangs the chair against the ground two more times than throws it at the steel steps.
AJ: And as far as your match tonight goes, if you even touch a weapon you will be disqualified and never allowed to challenge for another championship as long as I remain the GM of Raw.
Bryan steams up and just lets out a scream
AJ: So I’d get it together Daniel as your WWE Championship Scramble Qualifier is right now! Meet your opponent.
**Just Close Your Eyes**
A huge pop as the former 2-Time World Heavyweight Champion, Former Intercontinental, and former Tag Team Champion Christian comes with a smile on his face at his opportunity to potentially have a shot at the WWE Championship. Christian stares down the angry Bryan as AJ exits the ring.
Cole: What an announcement AJ. Next week Kane versus Daniel Bryan in a No Holds Barred Match, but right now it’ll be Daniel Bryan versus Christian for a Shot at the WWE Championship in the Scramble Match at Night of Champions! Next!
Match 6 | WWE Championship Scramble Qualifying Match
Daniel Bryan vs. Christian
Easily the match of the night which makes sense given the competitors in the match as opposed to the competitors in the other matches. Some good early back and forth between the two in-ring tacticians brought a nice sequences where Christian forced Bryan into the corner and landed a chop to his chest, Christian went back to the but missed the second time. He turned around into a spinning heel kick to the face from the WWE’s No Man. The crowded chanted YES YES YES as Bryan yelled NO NO NO and landed 3 big kicks to Christian’s chest. Bryan followed back with a chop to the chest that send Christian downed into the corner Bryan drove his foot into Christian’s throat, Bryan releases at the ref’s 4 count and the ref tries to warn him but Bryan screams back “I KNOW THE RULES!” He turns around and eats a kick to the midsection. Christian runs back to the turnbuckles and hits pattened back-flip crossbody block to Bryan straight into a cover for the 1…….2…Bryan used his hooked legs to roll through into the NO LOCK but Christian got before it was fully hooked in. Christian came off the ropes and hit a drop kick for a near fall.
Eventually Bryan came back into control of the match by bringing it to the mat and putting Christian in a body triangle. Bryan held that hold in as long as he could but switched to an arm bar that he kept a hold of when he got tired. Christian got the ropes but Bryan again kept the hold for a very long 4 count and then got a talking to from the ref, who he primly told to Shut the hell up. Bryan grabbed onto Christian looking to sink a guillotine choke but Christian grabbed onto Bryan’s leg and hit a fishermen’s suplex! Into a bridge! 1…………2….Bryan kicks out! Christian kept his control and whipped Bryan into the corner. Christian went for a big running splash on Bryan who ducks out of the way causing Christian to crash into the turnbuckles. Bryan climbs to top rope and yells “NO NO NO” as the crowd does more yes chant as he hits a missile dropkick that sends Christian flying across the ring. Christian rolls out of the bottom of the ring. Bryan reaches hit head through the middle ropes and begins to yell at Captain Charisma. Christian responded by slapping Bryan through the ropes!
Captain Charisma got back up on the apron only to eat a forearm shot from D-Bry. Christian held onto the ropes as Bryan came back for a kick that would’ve drilled Christian’s head had it landed but Christian ducked under and hit a shoulder to Bryan’s ribs creating separation between the two former World Heavyweight Champions. Christian springs up over the ropes for a sunset flip into a cover! 1…………..2….Bryan rolls up to his feet and KICKS CHRISTIANS HEAD IN! 1………….2…..Christian gets his shoulder up at the last second. Both men look exhausted and frustrated at this point. Bryan lifts Christian to his feet but eats a slap to the jaw. Christian heads to the middle rope and waits as the rocked Bryan stumbles into the corner and into his clutches. Captain Charisma goes for the Tornado DDT and lands it! Another cover attempt for Christian this has to be it! 1………….2….NO! The submission specialists kicks out again.
Christian is the one with words for the ref this time as he waits for Bryan to get to his feet. Captain Charisma begins to clap and his peeps rally behind him as he sets up for the Killswitch! Christian tries to grab on but Bryan reverses t for a back slide! 1……….2….Christian rolls up to his feet and comes off the ropes for a big clothesline, but Bryan reverses it into a drop toe hold! He get’s Christian in the NO LOCK! Bryan finally locks in his patented submission in the center of the ring. Christian fights and squirms for the ropes in any direction he can find them. But there is nowhere to go. Bryan cranks the lock even harder and demands that Christian taps out. Eventually Christian is left with no choice but to tap out. Daniel Bryan is going to Night of Champions!
Winner: Daniel Bryan via Submission @ 11:14
Bryan smiles for the first time in ages in the ring as he climbs to the turnbuckle and points to the sky and yells “YES YES YES” As we now know four of the five men in the championship scramble at Night of Champions as we go to a commercial.
We return to Raw backstage where Josh Mathews is walking. He sees Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero walking still dressed to the nines and holding Ziggler’s Money in the Bank Briefcase. Mathews approaches them with his microphone.
Mathews: Dolph, may I have a word?
Dolph looks at Vickie and then sarcastically responds to Josh’s polite question .
Ziggler: Yes Josh, just make this quick. We’ve got places to go people to see, appearances to make and ladies to meet. Now what did you want to have a word about?
Mathews: Dolph I guess myself and the WWE Universe for that matter want to know, why did you attack Chris Jericho earlier tonight and cost him his chance at the WWE Championship? Was it a payback of sorts because Jericho beat you at SummerSlam last night?
Ziggler smiles and Vickie pets his hair as Dolph proceeds to answer the question.
Ziggler: Josh, it wasn’t payback. It was too prove a point. Chris Jericho thinks Mr. Big Superstar Y2J again since he won one match, a match may I add that I dominated and he got lucky and caught me. Chris Jericho might’ve won the big one but he still can’t win. Chris Jericho doesn’t deserve to be the WWE Champion, I was just restoring order to the WWE. Doing everyone a favor, ya know Josh?
Mathews: So it wasn’t act of frustration? Or an attempt to make a statement?
Ziggler: Josh, do you want me to say I’m making a statement? Fine, I’ll give you your statement. It was a statement, I want to prove the point that I can do whatever I want whenever I want to Chris Jericho and I will do that again. Next week. Right here on Raw when I get my SummerSlam rematch with Jericho and I will prove that SummerSlam was a fluke and Dolph Ziggler will always be the better man to Chris Jericho. Now we have to plans, see ya next week Josh.
Ziggler and Vickie walk out of the scene leaving Mathews alone as we cut to ringside.
Cut to Ringside
We return at ringside the ring is empty as we wait for something, anything to happen.
**Written on my Face**
The World Heavyweight Champion, The Celtic Warrior Sheamus comes out in jeans and his official WWE T-Shirt, holding the World Heavyweight Championship over his shoulder. He is followed out by a young boy in a Sheamus T-Shirt, jean shorts and a John Cena hat. He is followed by an older man talking to the young boy wearing a nice black polo and jeans. The man appears to be his dad. Sheamus and his two guests get in the ring with a microphone.
Sheamus: You know, tonight I was given the night off by the Raw General Manager AJ. I made some plans to go out in the great city of San Diego!
A huge cheap pop for that as San Diego continues on.
Sheamus: But then something bigger came up, the Make-A-Wish Foundation gave me a call. They gave ma call about this young man right herr, Little Johney Sullivan. Say hi to the WWE Universe Johney.
The shy little boy hides behind is dad’s leg and waves to the crowd
Sheamus: Haha he’s a little shy but I think you might be too if you’ve been through what Johney has. See Johney has sickle-cell disease. A highly threatening red blood cell condition so it only makes sense Make-A-Wish would accept Johney’s request to be World Heavyweight Champion for a day and flew him and his dad out to San Diego all the way from Boston.
The crowd loves Little Johney and gives him a huge standing ovation as Sheamus hands him the belt and tells him to raise it to the sky. Little Johney’s dad tells him to raise it up and Johney lifts Sheamus’ title in the air to a huge pop. Sheamus smiles as he enjoys what he’s doing.
Sheamus: Give it up one last time for your honorary World Heavyweight Champion tonight, Johney Sullivan!
One last huge pop for Johney as he shakes hands with Sheamus and gives him a hug. Sheamus shakes Mr. Sullivan’s hand as we appear to be all done here.
**Crank it Up**
The cheers to turn to boos as for some reason the Big Show comes to the ring again tonight with a microphone in hand. Show walks to the ring looking angry and serious. Johney grabs his dad’s leg and hides behind it. Sheamus stands in between Show and his guests as the World’s Largest Athlete enters the ring.
Big Show: Give me the belt kid.
Tons of heat as Big Show crosses the line.
Big Show: You want to be champion don’t ya? This is the hard reality of it. People will take the belt from you and you will get screwed. Just like I got screwed earlier tonight and at SummerSlam. I deserve to be World Champion, but I’m not. So give me the belt.
Sheamus steps up to Show as Johney starts crying and his dad picks him and the title up off the ground. Sheamus whispers to Show “Now isn’t the time for this, let it go.” Big Show looks at the Celtic Warrior silently for a minute then turns to leave the ring. Sheamus breathes a sigh of relief then Big Show turns around and hits him square in the face with the WMD! Sheamus falls to the ground unconscious! Leaving the Sullivan Family alone in the ring with the rage-possessed Big Show and the World Heavyweight Title. Johney begins to sob as his dad hold him tight and stands in between Show and his son as various superstars and agents and security people run to the ring to restrain show.
A team of various security gaurds, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Sin Cara, William Regal, and Tyson Kidd all help restrain Big Show along with a large group of security people. They lead Show out of the ring as medical personal come check on Sheamus. Johney and his dad are escorted back into the crowd and away from the scene taking place in the ring. The commentators state that Show crossed the line and must be punished. Wrecking a little kid’s wish is never okay says Lawler. We cut to commercial on this somber note.
We return to a silent arena at ringside as the crowd is still in shock from what they just saw.
The crowd gets a little pop as their hometown hero Rey Mysterio comes out and high fives fans and does his normal routine but then grabs a mic.
Mysterio: San Diego, I just want it to be known that what Big Show just did, harassing a child and ruining his wish is not okay and Big Show will be punished. Whether it be by the Superstars in the back or the board of directors, Big Show will be punished but as for the tonight the show must go and I’m here to carry it on.
**Smoke and Mirrors**
The cheers Rey got from that turn instantly into boos when Cody Rhodes comes out and makes his way to the ring, jaw jacking with fans and what not. We are reminded that Rhodes promised to defeat Rey and prove him as a fraud just like he did at Wrestlemania 27. The crowd is set and ready to carry on this show and this rivalry.
Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes
A fun back-and-forth match early. Rey does his normal fast paced offensive and Cody hits a few counters and lands a few kicks and a back-breaker. The back-breaker gave Rhodes some early control and he works on the back of the 619’s own Rey Mysterio. Cody went to town on Rey’s now injured back with some elbow’s and a well placed knee driven into the back of the former World Heavyweight, WWE, Intercontinental, United States, and Tag Team Champion. Rey tried to break free by whipping Cody outside of the ring. Rey follows him out there and picks him up for an Irish whip but the former Intercontinental Champion reverses the whip and sends Rey back first into the steel steps! Rey rolls on the floor grabbing his back in pain as Cody went back to the ring looking for the count-out victory. Rey lays on the floor and tries to pull himself up using the steps. As the ref counts from 7 to 8 Rey crawls back into the ring.
The struggling luchador tries to mount an offense but Cody is a step ahead of the weakened Mysterio whipping him to the mat and then coming off the ropes and hitting a sliding drop kick to Rey’s back. Rey is weakened in the center of the ring as Cody lifts him up for a Cross-Rhodes but Rey spins and elbow back, breaking free from Cody’s evil clutches. Rey lands a kick to Cody’s chest and the comes off the ropes and hits Cody from behind with a running bulldog for a nearfall. Rey lifts Cody up and tries to keep his momentum but Cody’s athleticism also him to chop Rey and gain some separation. Cody springs off the ropes and hits the Disaster Kick!! 1………….2…..Rey gets his shoulder up at the last second.
Cody can’t believe it and begins to tee off on Rey in the corner. The ref stops the punching at the four count. Cody begins to scream at Rey that he’s a fraud as he lifts him up by his throat. Cody slaps Rey and begins to talk to him again “I’ll end you tonight, then Sin Cara is next.” Rey slaps Cody back and the two men exchange in a short boxing match. Eventually Cody took control and quickly got behind Rey in position for Cross Rhodes again! Instead of hitting his move Cody put Rey in a headlock and tried to pull off his mask but Rey reversed it and threw Cody down in-between the 2nd and 3rd rope. Rey shot himself off the ropes and went for 619! He hits it! 619 in 619! Rey goes up to the top turnbuckle and hit the Eddie Guerrero Frog Splash! Rey covers for the 1………….2…………3. Hometown Victory for Rey.
Winner: Rey Mysterio via pinfall @ 7:48
Rey goes to the top turnbuckle glad to be back to his winning ways in his hometown as he raises his arms in victory and we cut into the locker room.
We appear in the locker room and just hear heat pour in as Brock Lesnar is show sitting on a bench with Paul Heyman pacing around behind him.
Heyman: Look Brock, maybe it’s time to go. There is no sense waiting here for this coward to show up. The Undertaker fears you Brock, he won’t face the consequences of his actions tonight. Let’s go and have a drink or something.
Lesnar stares instensely at the ground as Heyman waits for an answer.
Heyman: What do we except to happen if we stay here. That coward will just pop up at some dead spot and come face you. Let’s call it a night.
Lesnar breathes deeply and looks at Heyman.
Lesnar: Get my bag, we’ll go. But next week if the Undertaker decides to try and hide his face from me, I will travel to parts unknown, find him, and hurt him.
Lesnar smiles and shakes his head as we cut to commercial, but before we do that we get a “next” shot of John Cena and Alberto Del Rio walking to the ring for the final Scramble Qualifying Match.
We return to Raw at ringside where we meet our commentators again.
Cole: Ladies and Gentlemen welcome back to Monday Night Raw as we close in our main event between John Cena and Alberto Del Rio but what a night it’s been leading up to that. We now know that Night of Champions, where every title is on the line CM Punk’s WWE Championship will be no different and he will face four other men in a championship scramble match, a match we haven’t seen in over two years.
Lawler: That’s right Cole and we know that John Cena or Alberto Del Rio will join Randy Orton, Kane, and Daniel Bryan as the challengers. What a match that will be in a month at Night of Champions.
Cole: But that’s not the only thing going on here on Raw as we just saw Brock Lesnar wants a piece of the Undertaker after the Deadman attacked Lesnar after his victory over Triple H at SummerSlam but the Deadman is nowhere to be found. Lesnar plans to continue his hunt for the Deadman next week but what will happen when Brock and the Undertaker come face to face again.
Lawler: Then there was the actions of the Big Show who not only knocked out the World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus but ruined what was supposed to be a special night for a little boy. Some sins are unforgivable and I think this falls under that category. Sheamus will wake up soon and I’m willing to bet Big Show will have hell to pay.
Cole: Also King don’t forget we already know two huge matches for next week, two SummerSlam re-matches. Chris Jericho and Dolph Ziggler will meet again and Kane will get another shot at Daniel Bryan, except this time it will be No Holds Barred.
Justin Roberts announces Ricardo Rodriguez and we are set to go for the main event as Ricardo announces this man…
**Rio Vas Vista**
Alberto Del Rio comes out to huge heat and makes his way down to the ring looking ultra serious as he believes it’s his destiny to get another WWE Title Shot since he lost his World Heavyweight Championship Match at SummerSlam. The former 2x WWE Champion walks down to the center of the ring and stares awaiting Cena.
**My Time is Now**
San Diego erupts as Cena springs to the ring in his green T-Shirt and Jean Shorts and hat. Cena high-fives his fans down the ramp and then gets in the ring as it’s all about business. Cena and loses the shirt and we should be off and running…
**Cult of Personality**
A huge mixed reaction for the WWE Champion CM Punk! Whose not scheduled to be in this match but makes his way down to the ring anyway. Punk stares down the man he won the WWE Championship from, Del Rio then turns his attention to Cena as he goes over to the announce table. Punk lifts the title up in the air while maintaining his eye contact with the face of the WWE.
Cole: Well it appears CM Punk will be joining us for the main event!
Punk: That it does Michael, everyone watching at home is now relieved to see the return of the best commentator in Raw history to the announce table.
Cole: Didn’t you only commentate for a month or two?
Punk: The best two months this desk has ever seen.
Lawler: Thanks Punk, we really appreciate it.
Punk: Oh hello, King. That’s a good word you just used there. Appreciate. And you know what I do not appreciate? The fact that I have to defend my title against four other men at Night of Champions. Men I’ve beaten before time after time. John Cena, Alberto Del Rio whoever wins I’ve beaten both of them. Kane and Daniel Bryan beaten them too.
Lawler: Well you did call AJ unstable Punk, did you think she wouldn’t react to that?
Punk: Well she did just prove my point, that she’s unstable. Stacking the odds against the WWE Champion the best wrestler in the world, who does. Next you’re going to tell me John Cena deserves to be the champion, HA!
Main Event | WWE Championship Scramble Qualifying Match
Alberto Del Rio w/Ricardo Rodriguez vs. John Cena
A pretty generic Cena-Del Rio main event. We’ve seen it before so we knew what was going on. Cena came out ready to fight and brought that fight to Del Rio early. Eventaully Del Rio turned to the tide by throwing Cena shoulder first between the turnbuckles into the steel ring post. Cena comes back grabbing his shoulder and Del Rio quickly goes back to work on the arm. Punk applauds Del Rio for having an actual strategy instead of just piling together random moves like Cena. Eventually Cena frees himself up from the arm holds with some jabs at the jaw and then goes back to work off the ropes with a shoulder block.
The shoulder block knocked Del Rio down but Cena to take a half second pause to sell the pain in his shoulder. Cena gave Del Rio enough time to reverse his fishermen’s suplex attempt into a single arm DDT then went back to working the shoulder. Punk comments on much taking away the arm of someone who’s offense revolves around punches will do. Cole asks Punk if he still respects Cena as he said he did a year ago. Punk says he gives respect to whom gives him respect and if Cena respects him, he respects Cena. Meanwhile back in the ring Cena and Del Rio are stood up Del Rio makes his first attempt to grab Cena’s arm and flip through for a Cross Arm-Breaker but Cena reverses it and slowly lifts him up for the Attitude Adjustment! Del Rio squirms on Cena’s shoulders until he breaks free and then lands a jumping kick to Cena’s head as the face of the WWE turns around. Del Rio covers but Cena managed to power out at 2.
Cena comes up to his feet grabbing his shoulder selling how hard that kick out was. Del Rio expresses his frustrations to the ref and then comes at Cena where he was met with a clothesline! Del Rio springs up into another clothesline and then Cena follows with a back-body drop! This time Del Rio is laid down on the mat which gives John the opportunity he’s looking for to get a little “You Can’t See Me” Five Knuckle Shuffle! Del Rio comes up grabbing his face when he turns around and Cena lifts him up for the Attitude Adjustment again!! Del Rio grabs Cena’s hand and rolls him through to the ground looking for the Cross-Arm-Breaker! As Del Rio tries to get it set in Cena rolls Del Rio and flips around on his back and hooks in the STF in the center of the ring!! Del Rio fights and squirms but there is nowhere to go! Del Rio taps and Cena is going to Night of Champions!
Winner: John Cena via Submission @ 8:13
Cena smiles as his arm is raised in the center of the ring. His attention immediately turns to Punk who has gotten up from the table and is raising his title in the air. The two men jaw-jack about who is the Best in the World as Cole hypes up the final line-up for the WWE Championship Scramble at Night of Champions. CM Punk defending Randy Orton, Kane, Daniel Bryan and John Cena. We cut into the parking lot..
We appear in the fully lighted parking lot where Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman are walking to their car having a private conversation. All of sudden the lights go out in the parking lot! Lesnar and Heyman both make statements about what’s going on as the lights stay out for about 20 seconds! The lights flicker back on Lesnar and Heyman look around. Lesnar looks at the ground and burnt into the grey ground in black lettering. “We will meet soon and You Will R.I.P.”Lesnar looks and Heyman look down in shock as Lesnar gets mad at throws his bag as their limo pulls up and Heyman gets in and the frustrated Lesnar follows as our shows comes to a close.
