Default Re: WWF 2001 - Invading The Right Way

Before Fully Loaded got underway the battlegrounds were set as two matches between the companies took place. In a real match of mayhem the WCW team of Chris Kanyon, Hugh Morrus, Shawn Stasiak & Mark Jindrak defeated Too Cool & The Holly Cousins with Kanyon pinning Hardcore Holly after hitting the . WCW drew first blood and the WWF were on the backfoot already.

But the WWF evened up the pre show matches with Tajiri and Mikey Whipwreck defeating Raven and Stevie Richards after Tajiri nailed Richards with the Buzzsaw Kick, Raven left Richards in the ring afterwards obviously disappointed by his partners performance

Gund Arena - Cleveland, Ohio - July 22nd 2001

It was then time for the real thing as WWF Fully Loaded : Knocking At The Door was ready to begin and before we got any action both WWF & WCW rosters were lectured by their owners on the importance of the night. The WWFs message was simple, destroy the disease before it spreads and WCW talked about making their impact

And to start the show we would have the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship defended as X-Pac defended against Billy Kidman, who had accepted X-Pacs challenge just 3 days earlier. As expected this match was a quick paced affair and Kidman hit a huge hurricanrana off the top rope on X-Pac as the crowd were wowed, Kidman hit a jumping tornado DDT to lay X-Pac out on the canvas and climbed to the top rope, the crowd knew what was coming but not what we were about to see, X-Pacs tag team partner Justin Credible pulling his pal to safety as Kidman crashed hard into the canvas. X-Pac didnt waste any time hitting the X-Factor for the three count

X-Pac defeated Billy Kidman to remain WWF Light Heavyweight Champion

WWF 1-0 WCW

Kidman got to his feet and held his head as X-Pac and Credible posed at the top of the ramp

Next up we had an enticing tag team match with prde of family at stake as Eddie and Chavo Guerrero took on Matt and Jeff Hardy. Chavo was an obvious weak link for the WCW team and the end came with Jeff climbing the turnbuckle to hit the Swanton Bomb on Chavo but Eddie pushed him off to the outside, with Jeff whacking down hard off the ringside barricade. Matt came across to deal with Eddie who slammed him neck first off the top rop into Chavo who hit a Brainbuster for the three count

Los Guerreros defeated The Hardy Boys

WWF 1-1 WCW

All square in the series now and The Guerrero family won the battle, but this probably isnt the end of the war.

A backstage promo was up next as WWF owner Vince McMahon, still sporting his neck brace, went in to see Rhyno and told him that he wanted to see him break Test in half for what he has done to the WWF. Rhyno then asks Vince how the WWF stock is doing and maybe Vince should buy into frozen orange juice to make the company some money. Vince says thats none of Rhynos business and he doesnt need to be told what to do. Rhyno says the feelings mutual

So that match would be up next with the Intercontinental Championship on the line and a a lively affair would see Test hit the Big Boot on Rhyno but Rhyno luckily got his foot on the bottom rope, Test went for another but Rhyno ducked it and came off the ropes with a massive Gore for the three count and The Man Beast added the Intercontinental Championship to his King Of The Ring crown.

Rhyno defeated Test to become WWF Intercontinental Champion

WWF 2-1 WCW

More title action ensued but this time it was the WCW titles being put up as the tag champions Chuck Palumbo and Sean O'Haire defended against Edge and Christian and after a lively match that saw Edge hit a Spear from the top rope onto O'Haire and Palumbo hit the Jungle Kick on Christian, it would be miscommunication on the part of the WWF guys which cost them. After the referee took a bump Edge swung a chair at Palumbo that he avoided and Edge nailed his partner across the head with it. As Edge looked on shocked Palumbo hoisted him up and O'Haire came off the top rope hitting the Doomsday Blockbuster Neckbreaker. The ref recovered in time to count the three count and Palumbo and O'Haire picked up a huge win

Chuck Palumbo & Sean O'Haire defeated The Hardy Boys

WWF 2-2 WCW

A backstage segment then aired between Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit as they both aired out their differences about accusing eachother of being defectors. They agreed to have eachothers back out there as they both want to see the back of WCW

But they wouldnt have it all their own way as they took on the impressive Mike Awesome and defector William Regal, Awesomes involvement in the ring stopped this being a complete mat match and he hit Jericho with a huge Awesome Bomb to the outside, Jericho was down for a long while as Benoit fought off both men and Jericho finally recovered to pull Awesome from the ring as Benoit locked the Crossface on Regal, Regal tried to hold out but eventually tapped. Jericho didnt look happy that Benoit got the win for the team

Chris Benoit & Chris Jericho defeated Mike Awesome & William Regal

WWF 3-2 WCW

Kurt Angle was interviewed by Michael Cole, Angle stated his intention to not only beat Lance Storm but to hurt him as well, Angle said Storm was going to be taught a lesson not even Stu Hart could teach him. Lance Storm came up to Angle and said Angle needed to be serious for a moment because we all knwo that Canadians are much better than Americans and Storm will prove it in the ring.

Wow. Just wow. Thats all that could be said about the match between Angle and Storm as they put on a match of the year contender. Storm and Angle showed how wrestling should be done as both men hit numerous styles in the match. Angle missed a moonsault from the top rope as Storm got the knees up, Storm missed a Superkick that Angle turned into the Ankle Lock but Storm pushed him off. Angle hit the triple German suplexes but Storm just got a shoulder up. Storm hit the Superkic but Angle kicked out, and Storm kicked out after an Olympic Slam. Angle hit another Olympic Slam but it was countered into a backcracker from Storm. Storm looked ready to pounce on the fallen body of Angle but Angle was playing possum and as Storm leaned over Angle grabbed the Ankle Lock and Storm was in trouble but in a aweome show of agility Storm reverse rolled under Angle and locked in the Canadian Mapleleaf, Storm was sat down on the move and Angle refused to tap but had nowhere to go, Angle eventually passed out and Storm was declared the winner

Lance Storm defeated Kurt Angle

WWF 3-3 WCW

Storm celebrated as he looked down on Angle who was out of it, Angle was unable to wake and thus stretchered out of the ring.

In the only match of the night where the odds were stacked the recently unhappy and defected Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko, going by as The Revolution invoked their #1 contenders shot against the WWF Tag Team Champions The APA, but Vince McMahon added The Dudley Boys to the match making it basically a 2 on 1 situation. All was going smoothly for the WWF as the foursome took apart the WCW guys. Eventually The Dudleys went for the pinfall and that where all hell broke loose as The APA took offense to Dudleys trying to steal their belts and they brawled with to the outside, Saturn saw this as his chance and rolled up D-Von for the three count and WCW had the WWF Tag Team Titles

Perry Saturn & Dean Malenko defeated The APA & The Dudley Boys to become WWF Tag Team Champions

WWF 3-4 WCW

The APA and The Dudley Boys argued with eachother as Saturn and Malenko took off with the belts, Bradshaw hit the Clothesline From Hell on D-Von and The APA hit a double powerbomb on Buuba Ray.

Backstage Vince said he was sending Stone Cold out next to make sure the WWF peggd WCW back, Undertaker overheard this and said is Vince trying to state that Undertaker wont get the job done, Taker then tells Vince he will go out there next and flatten DDP.

Undertaker versus DDP was the next match and both men showed a true passion of hatred for one another as DDP used every dirty trick possible, raking, gouging, low blowing, tight pulling and even trying to use an exposed turnbuckle but it would be his downfall as Undertaker Snake Eyed him off the turnbuckle and hit a Chokeslam. Taker wasnt finished though as he hit not one but two Last Rides for the victory. Taker had some redemption on DDP and proved to Vince he was the man to get the job done

The Undertaker defeated Diamond Dallas Page

WWF 4-4 WCW

The main event was all that was left and Vince had some rousing words for Stone Cold Steve Austin but Austin told him to put a pipe in it, he told him he was Steve Austin and all he knows how to do is fight and fight he will. Austin said he would kick Booker Ts ass all over the arena. And that was the bottom line because Stone Cold said so.

Booker T was then riled up by Eric Bischoff and told Booker T that the fate of WCW is in his hands and all he had to do was beat that foul mouthed beer swigging nobody, and he knew he could do it because he is the WCW Champion, the cream of the crop and the future of wrestling. Booker T said the job will get done, if you dig him, sucka.

The most anticipated match of the night, the decider. WWF or WCW. Vince or Shane & Eric. Stone Cold or Booker T. Dominance or resurrection. And the match didnt disappoint as Austin and Booker T took it to one another big time. Austin came at Booker with his brawling style and hit an early Lou Thesz press to the delight of the crowd. Austin with the Stunner but Booker T sent him off an hit the Harlem Side Kick. Booker T then took control of the match for a long period keeping Austin grounded with his quick offense and Booker T set Austin up for the Scissor Kick but Austin ducked away and Austin went for the Stunner again and Austin was shoved off into the referee, Booker T went for the Bookend but Austin elbowed out and hit the Stunner, Austin covered but there was no referee and a second referee rushed in but Shane McMahon pulled him out, Shane was chased by Austin all around the ring but Shane ran into a spear from Vince McMahon and the crowd went nuts as Vince laid into his son. Vince was pulled off by Test who went to give Vince another Big Boot but Rhyno came out of nowhere and Gored him into the air. Mike Awesome and Lance Storm came in next and Rhyno was Awesome Bombed on the outside. WWF Champion Undertaker and Chris Benoit came to the rescue by taking both guys down and Chris Jericho was in the ring and picked up Booker T before hitting Austin with a new move, driving Austins face down into his knees as he fell to the ground. Jericho put Booker T over Austin and the first referee recovered in time to make the three count

Booker T defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin

WWF 4-5 WCW

WCW won the battle, Chris Jericho stood in the ring with a sick smile on his face, on the outside Awesome took out all the WWF guys with a chair but Benoit was in the ring with Jericho and Benoit asked him why but before anything could be explained DDP turned Benoit around and hit a Diamond Cutter. The WWF were laid out all over the place as Eric Bischoff and Shane McMahon came into the ring and a massive amout of jeers came pouring in as Jericho embraced both men. WCW stood tall as Fully Loaded went off the air

Default Re: WWF 2001 - Invading The Right Way

First off, I've been reading since your first post and I really like the small changes you've put into this new Invasion Angle. It really is shaking things up to a whole new level.

Now here's my honest review brother.

FULLY LOADED

-The first two SNH matches had predictable outcomes, The WCW foursome had the power on the WWF foursome and came out the winners with Kanyon hitting the Flatliner I suppose? The Unholy Alliance reunited to take on Raven & Stevie is a real ECW dream match. Raven & Stevie never really had much sucess together so, it was the right way to go to give Tajiri & Mikey the duke in this one.

-I love the "Knocking at the Door" tagline.

-The first two opening matches really set the tone that the night's action would be closely contested. X-Pac beat Kidman via help from Credible, which opens the door for a possible rematch, and, Los Guerreros somewhat cheat their way to victory over the Hardys in somewhat of an upset. Since there wasn't too much on the line in these two matches, the score is tied, and, it leaves plenty for these 6 wrestlers to accomplish in this war in the future.

-I like how you've given Rhyno the respect and the importance he deserves. I always felt the WWF was scared of how small in height Rhyno was versus his other foes, but, for all the taller competitors, nobody packs intensity and agressiveness like Rhyno. Him winning the IC Title is another milestone achievement and, I feel like Rhyno could be one of thos guys who goes to the highest bidder somewhere down the line.

-Tension continues to brew between E & C, good to give the new team the rub, especially since they hold the WCW Tag Gold. I like how you've given them such a great tag team move too.

-There was a certain confusing aspect to the Benoit/Jericho Vs Awesome/Regal matchup. Most of the action was described as being somewhat Hardcore with the Awesome Bomb to the outside but, I think it was a somewhat missed opportunity to put someone more of Awesome's style of Regal's, either way, I think there was no way Awesome & Regal would gel as a team and Benoit & Jericho getting the ups is the right way to go on that one.

-I can't believe they never banked on an Angle & Storm confrontation. I have no doubt that it was a MOTY candidate and I really like that you gave Storm the duke. I just have a hard time seeing anyone passing out to the Single Leg Boston Crab if a) they have (apparently) not been severely injuted elsewhere (i.e. a cut to the forehead, a massive cut at that) or that b) the targeted body part (apparently) had been injured and worked on previously.

-Right from the get go, Saturn & Malenko are so outmatched size wise against these two teams. Saturn covers for a few areas where Malenko is overly outmatches but still. Even though the deck was stacked in favor of either the Dudleys or APA, I knew these two teams' past history would come and play a major role in the outcome, and it did in the favor of the Revolution, which is a major blow for the WWF to lose their tag team belts, and now, finding themselves down one match, and without any tag team gold to speak for.

-Taker vs DDP was a great old brawler's style matchup. DDP is great, but, there was no way he was going to beat Taker, especially in the circumstances surrounding Sara. I would have liked Taker to bust out the Tombstone for that occasion though!

-The Main Event was a great way to end the show, everything was tied up across the board and it was up to either Book or Austin to bring home the win for their respective teams. The action was fast & furious, and the events leading to the shocking turn of events was tremendous. I just realized that if WWF had been smart back then, this would have been a major coup in the Invasion. Jericho turning its back on the company that had demoralized him, down graded him, I can but wait to see how the whole Jericho/Bischoff dynamic evolves. This also means that both major titles stay in their respective camp, but WCW has won the first big war against WWF.

-OVERALL = A great Pay-Per-View from top to bottom. Sometimes the lack of detail takes away from what you're trying to accomplish booking wise in the short term, but, everything is so precise in its long term execution that it's something that doesn't take away from the fun I have reading your BTB. (7.7/10)

Default Re: WWF 2001 - Invading The Right Way

MONDAY NIGHT RAW - July 23rd 2001

Raw opened with the irate WWF owner Vince McMahon coming out and slating Chris Jericho, claming that there is a black cloud over professional wrestling after the events of last night. Vince said after all he did for Jericho, from taking him out of the wilderness in WCW to making him the star he is today, and the thanks he gets is a big dagger in his back.

Before Vince could continue wth his tirade the distinctive sound of glass shattering interrupted him and Stone Cold Steve Austin came head shaking down to the ring. Austin told Vince that last night was his night and Jericho ruined it and if Vince doesnt give him Jericho right now in the middle of the ring then he will go find the yellow bellied s.o.b. Austin waited but nothing.

Austin got pissed off and aid he would go find him and went to leave the ring but was interrupted by the music of Chris Benoit, who confronted Jericho as Fully Loaded went off the air before being attacked. Benoit said that Jericho was a friend, he trusted him and feels betrayed. Benoit said after the events of last night that he should be the one to face Jericho. Benoit and Austin started arguing before being interrupted by the WWF Champion, The Undertaker.

Taker came out and said he watched what happened last night and what has been said out here so far and came out to let everybody know that as WWF Champion, it was his duty to flush out and punish any traitors. Taker said it was Austins duty last night to win the battle for the WWF, but he failed. And he claimed that Benoit had been tagging with Jericho for months and didnt spot any odd behaviour, so he failed too. This got all three men arguing with one another. Vince tried to calm the situation

The countdown clock then started and the guy on everybodies lips, Chris Jericho came out onto the ramp with a huge smile across his face. Jericho said it was nice to see how popular he is but it is a little too late, Jericho said that the last few months it has been Stone Cold this, Undertaker that, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, Triple H etc etc etc but nothing for Chris Jericho. It was WCW all over again. But why rejoin WCW if he hated it so much, simple, Jericho had several offers from Shane McMahon to join WCW, but on the emphasis that he would be a big star for the WWF, and with his hatred of Eric Bischoff he decided that the WWF was the place to be. But not for long. Jericho said he saw his chances at the top of the WWF fading away but it was a rare phone call that clinched the deal. A call from the very man he has despised since he left WCW, Eric Bischoff, Jericho said Bischoff apologised for the way he treated Jericho and agreed that he got it wrong letting Jericho leave.

Jericho was garnering lots of heat as he turned his attention to the guys in the ring, Jericho said Austin was washed up, a has-been who needed to ride on the coat tails of the boss to succeed nowadays when all he used to do was kick the boss ass, and then there was Benoit, a guy who Jericho thought was his friend, someone he could rely on, that was until he snapped on him at King Of The Ring. Finally Jericho turned to The Undertaker, and claimed the only thing Undertaker has that Jericho wants is that WWF Championship, and to set the record straight, he wont get into the ring with a WWF guy unless that belt is on the line

Undertaker immediately agreed to the deal but Austin and Benoit both aid they would take the belt off of Taker if it meant getting to Jericho, Vince then booked the main event for the night as a triple threat match for the WWF Championship

Rhyno and Test would square off next in a rematch from Fully Loaded, with the Intercontinental title on the line again. Test started to gain the advantage after some dirty tricks and was setting up the big boot when the pyros on the ring exploded into fire distracting him and Rhyno hit The Gore for the 3 count.

In the back and the WCW six of Chuck Palumbo, Sean O'Haire, Eddie Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko were talking backstage about how they were all successful last night and proved that WCW were the superior tag team division. They even had all the gold to prove it.

This was witnessed by The Hardy Boys, Edge, Christian and The APA in the WWF locker room, and all six looked unhappy and agreed that they needed to hit back and quickly, The APA said they would get their belts back but that caused disagreement between the three teams and they ended up having Vince step in and make a triple threat number one contenders match for Smackdown. Vince also made three singles matches for Raw between the teams.

Matt Hardy defeated Edge after a miscommunication once again between Edge and Christian, Christian went to grab Hardys leg but it was Edges leg that got tripped, leading into a Twist of Fate.

Jeff Hardy lost to Bradshaw after missing a Swanton Bomb and Bradshaw hit the Clothesline from Hell.

Edge and Christian argued backstage and they agreed they needed Christian to beat Faarooq to get back some momentum ahead of the tag match on Smackdown.

Christian defeated Faarooq after Christian held the referee in the corner and Edge came out from the back hitting a Spear on Faarooq for Christian to get the pinfall.

Lance Storm cut a promo on how Kurt Angle couldnt be there because he still hadnt woken up after passing out to the Mapleleaf last night. Storm said he proved that Canada was better than America, the Mapleleaf was the best submission move in the world and most importantly he was better than Kurt Angle. Storm then made Justin Credible tap out.

The main event was up next and a great back and for and for match saw Taker sent crashing to the outside by Austin and Benoit locking in the Crossface, as Austin crawled towards the ropes Diamond Dallas Page whacked Benoit over the head with the WWF Championship, The Undertake hit the Chokelsam on Benoit for the pinfall as Austin was still out. it would be Taker v Jericho at Summerslam and the show ended with Austin hitting the Stunner on Taker.

THURSDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN - 26th July 2001

Smackdown opened unexpectedly with The Dudley Boys coming out to the ring. They said they were peed off that they werent being considered good enough to be in the number one contenders match. They said it was an absolute disgrace that the greatest tag team in history was overlooked and that someone would pay.

The crowd went wild though as Ric Flair interrupted them making his debut in the Invasion and Flair came out and said he has had about enough of these two moaning bitches, Flair said they are supposed to be two badass guys yet here they are moaning like a couple of babies. Flair said when he wanted to prove a point he would do it with his fists not with his mouth.

The Dudleys agreed with Flair and said they were much better at fighting than talking and proceeded to beat down Flair until he was saved by.........................

The Rock

The Rock returned to the WWF and cleaned the ring of The Dudley Boys and The Rock said he came back to save the WWF, saving the millions and millions of The Rock fans and nobody but nobody interrupts The Rocks show, Rock pulled a recovering Flair in for a Rock Bottom and the crowd went nuts

In the three way number one contenders match, The APA gained the title shot when they pinned Matt Hardy after a Clothesline From Hell. Edge and Christian argued once more on the outside as the pin was made.

Billy Kidman came out and said X-Pac would get his comeuppance, him and Credible would. X-Pac and Credible came out and circled Kidman saying he was a kid trying to get in the ring with men and woul never win, as they proceeded to beat down Kidman, Rey Mysterio sprinted out to the delight of the crowd and made the save. X-Pac looked shocked as Kidman and Rey hugged.

Booker T also came out and had his say, he stated after he won the battle for WCW, he was certainly the greatest world champion in the world today. He carried on by aying after beating the best the WWF had to offer their wasnt anybody out there good enough to get in the ring with him. He was then interrupted by the King Of The Ring and Intercontinental Champion Rhyno.

Rhyno stated that Booker T isnt even the greatest champion standing in the ring, and he would prove it by beating Booker T for the WCW World Championhip. Booker T gets a little scared but eventually agrees to face Rhyno later on in the night, because he is a fighting champion.

The WCW roster were backstage gathered up by Eric Bischoff and he started a speech about how Booker T was a great champion, but even he knows that having two titles is a burden and wanting to concentrate on the World title he has agreed to give up his United States title and their will be a tournament between 4 of WCWs stars to determine the new champion. Next week Lance Storm will take on Mike Awesome but tonight it will be Test going one on one with Kanyon.

In the match mentioned Test came out the winner after blocking a Flatliner and hitting the Big Boot to book his place in the final

Chris Benoit did an interview where he doesnt know what Diamond Dallas Pages problem is, but he will find out. Benoit demanded that DDP turn up on Raw to explain himself, or else.

The main event would be the WCW World Champiosnhip match and the match was going the way of Rhyno until an irate Stone Cold Steve Austin interfered attacking Booker T and causing the disqualification. Austin was confronted by Rhyno who shoved him, thus Rhyno got given a Stunner as Smackdown went off the air

This is an excellent start to the road to Summerslam. I like the changes that you have made to the Invasion angle and I like the WWF championship signed for Summerslam. Having Eric Bischoff as part of the Invasion is quite essential and I am glad you have him involved. Looking forward to following the road to Summerslam.

Default Re: WWF 2001 - Invading The Right Way

Monday Night RAW - 30th July 2001

Raw opened with Chris Benoit making his way down to the ring. The Rabid Wolverine said that he laid an offer on the table for Diamond Dallas Page to show his face tonight. Benoit said it was time Page answered him and explained why he has been a thorn in his side since Fully Loaded.

Page didnt make him wait long and smugly made his way down to the ring. He said Benoit wanted to know why he cost him the chance to be WWF Champion last week, well its simple. Page said all he has heard from Benoits mouth is how WCW treated him bad and that he would never go back there because the backstage politics never let him realise his potential.

Page said that was a load of bull. He said to look at him, never trained to the degree that Benoit was, originally brought in to wrestling as a sideshow manager, but he worked hard and got the titles he deserved. Page carried on saying that WCW is 'WHERE THE BIG BOYS PLAY!!' and that Benoit just couldnt handle the competition

Benoit took offense to that and said he would kick Pages ass right there right now but DDP said he hadn't come here to fight, he came here to offer a challenge to Benoit, at Summerslam. Benoit duly accepted.

Lance Storm took on Mike Awesome in the second semi-final of the United States championship tournament, Storm had the upper hand when Kurt Angles music hit and Storm got distracted long enough for Aweome to hit the Awesome Bomb for the pinfall.

Awesome would advance to the final against Test but Storm was upset and grabbed a microphone telling that coward Angle to show himself, the crowd went nuts as Angle came through the crowd and attacked Storm and went for the Ankle Lock but Storm blocked it and escaped up the ramp. Angle said this wasnt over

Chris Jericho was backstage and talked about how he joined a winning team and that whilst he was a part of that team it would never stop winning, and promised to cap it all off by winning the WWF Championship at Summerslam.

The Undertaker interrupted the segment and said Jericho forgets who he is facing at Summerslam, Taker said that the ring was his yard, this is his company he is messing with, and by far the most important, this is his title and it aint going anywhere. Jericho said that we will soon see about that, Taker said how about we see right now and Jericho said he could wait but wouldnt mind giving Taker a taste of whats to come this Thursday on Smackdown in a tag team match. Undertaker accepted.

The Rock made his return to Raw and cut a long promo about how he had Vince McMahon pleading for his help after Fully Loaded, bu that he came back not for Vince McMahon but for The People.

Before The Rock can continue he is interrupted by Ric Flair, who got a big pop. Flair said last week he let his guard down and The Rock laid him out in the middle of the ring, but if there is one thing he has for The Rock, then it is respect, he sure as hell respectd 'the most electrifying man in sports entertainment' but he said The Rock forgot one thing, that he is messing with 'the dirtiest player in the game'.

Without warning or hesitation Flair kciked The Rock below the belt leaving him grounded before leaving the ring to a mixed reaction.

The APA defeated The Holly Cousins in a straightforward tag team match as WWF Tag Team champions Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko watched on. Faarooq hit the Dominator on Crash for the win.

Backstage and in the locker room Edge and Christian are talkng with The Hardy Boys about failing to get the number one contendership to the WWF Tag Team belts. But Edge said gold is gold and that he and Christian would challenge Palumbo and O'Haire to a match for the WCW tag team titles, claiming to avenge their Fully Loaded defeat.

Matt and Jeff said they had their chance and it was someone elses turn to have a go, thus they made a tag team match with the winner challenging Palumbo and O'Haire for their titles.

The match would be up next and it would be Christian accidentally hitting Edge with a dropkick that Matt added a Twist Of Fate to for the win and Christian and Edges miscommunications continued and it would be The Hardy Boys challenging Palumbo and O'Haire for their tag belts.

Booker T came out next and complained that Steve Austin was out of order, and jealous of Booker Ts talent and the fact that Booker T was the better man at Fully Loaded. Booker says he doesnt care if 'players gunna hate' but when they get involved in his business then it becomes a problem. Austin came out and said he couldnt give a damn about hurting Booker Ts feelings but he would happily kick Bookers ass all around the arena if it helped.

Booker T said he couldnt do it at Fully Loaded so what makes him think he can do it now, Booker T says he will happily repeat Fully Loaded at Summerslam, if Austin has the guts to get in the ring with him again, Austin stuns Booker T and we are to believe that that was acceptance of the match.

In a non-title affair main event The Undertaker took on European Champion Albert and got the win after a Last Ride to Albert. As soon as the match ended though Chris Jericho attacked Taker and locked him in The Walls Of Jericho as the show went off the air

Thursday Night Smackdown - 2nd August 2001

Smackdown opened with the same guy who ended Raw, Chris Jericho. Jericho came out boasting how he made The Undertaker 'his bitch' on Raw and said there will be plenty more where that came from at Summerslam. He said as for the tag team match tonight, his partner is someone who has a lot in common with Taker, mainly because they watch the same woman get undressed.

This brings out Diamond Dallas Page and the crowd give him huge heat. Page mentions that he may have a match with Chris Benoit at Summerslam but Taker is still in his sights, or more likely Takers wife is. Taker races down to the ring but is outnumbered and DDP and Jericho begin to beat down on the WWF Champ until Benoit makes the save

The US title final was the first match of the evening and Mike Awesome picked up the title by countout after Kane returned and Test bailed from the ring. Awesome was confuse but delighted that he won the belt, but then ate a chokeslam from Kane.

Edge took on Lance Storm, and as expected miscommunication with Christian cost Edge the match,Edge shoved down Christian afterwards and Storm got on the microphone saying Kurt Angle was just upset that he passed out in their match. Storm said he would happily do it all over again if Angle got in his way

Backstage and Edge was in a foul mood when Eddie Guerrero came up to him, Eddie mocked Edge for carrying Christian and said that the bond between Edge and Christian wasnt as strong as the bond of the Guerreros.

Eddie said at Fully Loaded the Guerreros proved they were better than the pathetic Hardys and if Edge had the 'cajones; then he would accept the challenge of the Guerreros to show they are better than 'whatever family Edge and Christian come from' . Edge accepted

Tajiri took on X-Pac for X-Pacs WWF Lightheavyweight Championship and after Kidman foiled interference from Justin Credible, X-Pac took his eye off the ball allowing Tajiri to hit the Buzzsaw Kick and become the new champ.

Kurt Angle was backstage and said that if Lance Storm wants to run his mout, then it will be the only thing he be running because he wants him at Summerslam and he will break his damn ankle when he does get hi hands on him.

Kidman challenged Gregory Helms for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship and would pick up the win, but only by disqualification when X-Pac and Credible hit the ring attacking Kidman, Rey Mysterio ran down to make the save and hit the 619 on Credible

Stone Cold Steve Austin was backstage and went up to Vince McMahon asking for a shot at the WWF Championship. Vince said he would love to but with the Jericho/Taker match set he cant right now grant that shot. But Vince said he would 'guarandamntee' Austin his shot if he beat Booker T at Summerslam. Austin said he better not break his word

In the main event Chris Benoit and The Undertaker took on Chris Jericho and Diamond Dallas Page and it would be Jericho who got the win for his team, reversing a Last Ride into a rollup and grabbing the tights for the pin. Jericho and DDP celebrated on the ramp as Taker fumed.

Monday Night Raw - August 6th 2001

The crowd on Raw rejoiced as The Rock opened the show. The Rock said that last week Ric Flair cheap shotted him, but thats Ric Flair for you. The Rock said he knows Ric Flair knows that this isnt over. The Rock says he stands by what he said and that he respects the hell out of Ric Flair. But he has faced the greatest of the greatest, Steve Austin, The Undertaker, Triple H, the toerag they call Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Dude Love, Mankind, Mick Foley, but he has never ever got into the ring with The Nature Boy, yet.

Ric Flair comes out and says that he believes that respect is earned and just by respecting Ric Flair, that The Rock has the respect of Ric Flair, Flair say that The Rock is the future of the business, but that time isnt yet, theres still time for 'the dirtiest player in the game', to be the man just a while longer. The Rock asks the fans if they want to see Ric Flair go ONE ON ONE WITH THE GREAT ONE and the response is massive. Flair says you got a match. The Rock offers a handshake and Flair accepts before The Rock pulls Flair in close and stares him down, The Rock pulls away but Flair holds on and pulls The Rock back in for a stare of his own, Flair leaves as The Rock doesnt take his eye off him.

Backstage and Vince McMahon is called in to break up an argument and near brawl between Chris Benoit and The Undertaker, both men blaming one another for the loss on Smackdown. Vince says he cant be dealing with this with WCW infecting his company, and that if they want to tear each other apart then they can do it in the ring later on. Shane McMahon, Eric Bischoff, Diamond Dallas Page and Chris Jericho are seen watchng this backstage and seem very happy that the WWF is falling apart from within.

Kurt Angle goes one on one with WCW Champion Booker T in a non-title match, but with Angle in the ascendancy and hitting The Olympic Slam but Lance Storm runs in immediately brawling with Angle and the ref throws the match out, Angle hits The Olympic Slam on Storm but is blindsided by Booker T and the crowd are booing until Stone Cold Steve Austin flies down to the ring, Austin stuns Storm, then Booker T and even stuns Angle with one finger salutes all round. Austin celebrates as Booker T and Storm retreat

In a recurring theme on WWF television Christian loses to Chavo Guerrero by disqualification after Edge hits Chavo with a chair, Christian was very unhappy with Edge costing him the match. Eddie and Cahvo smiled at the arguing going on between their Summerslam opponents.

WWF Intercontinental Champion Rhyno came out and said he doesnt seem to be getting any competition, he says that he is offering an open challenge to any chump in WCW to try and take his title from him, but warns that getting in the ring with him comes with a warning of loss of health. WCW stalwart Hugh Morrus comes out and says how about they fight right now instead, Rhyno says okay and within a minute is Goring Morrus for the pinfall, as he celebrates though Kanyon sneaks up and hits Rhyno with The Flatliner and lifts the Intercontinental championship up before chucking it on Rhyno.

In the lead up to their WWF Tag Team championship match at Summerslam, Faarooq picked up a win over Dean Malenko after hitting a quick Dominator for the pinfall.

Chris Jericho went up to Chris Benoit in the back and said he was glad he could count on his buddy to soften up The Undertaker for him, not that Jericho needs Taker softened up. Benoit quickly jumped in Jerichos face, saying tonight may be Undertaker, Summerslam maybe DDP, but his main goal right now in the WWF is to get his hands on Jericho and make him tap, just like all the others do.

And in the other match involving a tag team championship at Summerslam, one half of the WCW Tag Team champions, Chuck Palumbo defeated Matt Hardy after hitting The Jungle Kick

In the main event of the evening The Undertaker and Chris Benoit were going hell for leather at one another when the WCW duo of Jericho and DDP made their way down to ringside, Page got on the apron getting the attention of the referee and Benoit, with Benoits back turned he didnt see Jericho strike Taker with the WWF Championship belt, and Taker walked right into a Crossface from Benoit. Taker had no choice but to tap out. Benoit celebrated as Jericho and DDP smirked up the ramp as the show went off the air

Thursday Night Smackdown - August 9th 2001

Smackdown opened with Kurt Angle coming down and saying he has enough on his plate with Lance Storm without Stone Cold attacking him for no freaking reason. Angle tells Austin to come and explain himself. Austin comes out very quickly and says he couldnt give a monkeys about Angles feelings or problems and that he will do anything and beat up anybody to get back the WWF Championship. Angle says well maybe he wont be so lucky trying to attack Angle face to face instead of from behind, a match is agreed for later on in the night

Test called Kane out and Kane wasted no time in responding but the lights went out and when they came on Test was on the ramp, Kane looked confused but the lights went off again and this time when they came on Hugh Morrus, Shawn Stasiak, Mark Jindrak, Raven and Stevie Richards were in the ring with Kane and attacked him, Kane tried to fight them off but eventually got worn down and then Test came in and hit the Big Boot

Booker T was backstage talking with Eric Bischoff and Shane McMahon saying he needs a challenge for tonight to get him in shape for Summerslam, because every time he faces a WWF guy Austin keeps getting involved. Bischoff said Austin has his own problems tonight but there is bound to be a match around here somewhere for them. Ric Flair then enters and says if Booker needs a warm up then theres no better than against The Nature Boy. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Flair adds how about making it special and putting the WCW World Heavyweight championship on the line. Bischoff interjects saying there is no way Flair is getting a title match tonight, he only just turned up last week. Flair gives Bischoff a stinking look before announcing that he didnt no Booker had become Bischoffs rent boy. Booker T obviously takes offense and says nobody speaks for him and he will see him out in that ring and retain his title

Rhyno and Tajiri would team up to take on Kanyon and Raven in a Hardcore rules tag team affair. Rhyno hit a Gore on Raven through a table after some green mist by Tajiri for the pinfall when Kanyon bailed. It was announced during the match that Kanyon would challenge Rhyno for the Intercontinental title at Summerslam

In the series of tag team battles heading into Summerslam, Jeff Hardy defeated Sean O'Haire after a Swanton Bomb, Perry Saturn defeated Bradshaw with The Rings Of Saturn and fnally some cohesion as Christian aided Edge onto victory against Eddie Guerrero.

Ric Flair took on Booker T next and The Rock was on commentary, Flair was in control until he took his eye off Booker T to notify The Rock he was still the man, but run right into a Bookend and Scissor Kick as Booker T retained. The Rock clapped for Flair despite the loss and the two stared eachother out as The Rock walked to the back.

Chris Benoit cut an interview saying he doesnt know what kind of games WCW are playing but they wont work, and in the end WCW will fall, just like before

Rey Mysterios in ring debut was next as he defeated Justin Credible after a 619. Afterwards X-Pac attacked Mysterio but Billy Kidman made the save. Kidman got on the microphone and said that they had a challenge for X-Pac and Credible for Summerslam. X-Pac accepted it

Vince McMahon was in the back trying to convince Stone Cold not to go through with the match against Angle. He begged Austin not to make more disharmony in the WWF, McMahon said first he had Chris Benoit and The Undertaker at each other and now his other top stars Angle and Austin. Austin said it was simple, he wants the WWF Championship back and will take out any and everyone who gets in his way, including him. Vince gulped before leaving Austin be.

In a hotly contested main event Austin defeated Angle after reversing an Olympic Slam. Booker T was in the ring after nailing Austin with a Harlem Sidekick. Booker stand tall as Smackdown goes off the air

Default Re: WWF 2001 - Invading The Right Way

Monday Night Raw - August 13th 2001

Vince McMahon came out and said he needed to restore order in the WWF, and then ordered a cluster of WWF stars to come out one after another. Stone Cold Steve Austin came out, followed by The Undertaker, Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle. McMahon aid that it was only 6 days till the WWF went into battle against WCW again and he needed the WWF guys to get along and direct their hate at WCW.

Austin said there would be no problem if Taker never stole what was his. Taker says that its not his problem WCW got involved and its not his problem they are still around and if idiots like Austin and Angle never lost their matches at Fully Loaded then they probably wouldnt have to share their troubles with WCW and could get down to it. This gets Angle involved and Benoit doesnt say much but eventually everyone is bickering and Vince is pulling his hair our.

WCW then come out as Eric Bischoff leads out WCW World Heavyweight champion Booker T, Diamond Dallas Page, Lance Storm and Chris Jericho. Bischoff says that he just wanted to wsh the WWF good luck in their matches on Sunday because he knows they are going to need it, Vince says this is just a blip but his guys will kick the hell out of WCW at Summerslam.

Vince said he would prove it tonight and said this is still his show and he was booking a ten man tag team main event of WCW guys Storm, Page, Jericho, Booker T and Ric Flair taking on WWF elite of Austin, Undertaker, Angle, Benoit and the in ring return of The Rock. WCW looked a little worried as The Rocks name came up

In an odd twist the names of Chuck Palumbo, Sean O'Haire, Eddie Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko were put in one hat and the names of their opponents at Summerslam, Matt & Jeff Hardy, Edge, Christian, Bradshaw and Faarooq put into another and three matches would be made for the night by random drawing. All others would be barred from ringside

Edge defeated Perry Saturn in the first of those 3 matches after hitting The Spear.

Backstage and Kane went on a wrecking spree, he was shown taking both Raven and Stevie Richards out chucking them into walls and Chokeslamming Richards through a table. He then went and found Hugh Morrus launching him through a glass window. Before he could continue Vince McMahon stopped him saying he cant just go around destroying WWF property. Kane replied 'Jindrak, Stasiak, tonight!!!' Vince said he would see what he could do

Matt Hardy took on Chavo Guerrero next in a cruiserweight style match and Hardy picked up the win with the Twist Of Fate.

In the last of the singles matches of the evening Bradshaw defeated Chuck Palumbo after ducking a Jungle Kick and hitting the Clothesline From Hell.

Vince went into the dressing room of Kurt Angle and asked Kurt to try and get along, Angle said he isnt the one going around attcking other WWF guys, no that was Stone Cold, and Vince needs to have a word with him

Kanes match was up next and he got both Stasiak and Jindrak in a double Chokeslam, Test came running down to the ring and nailed Kane with a trashcan big boot. Kane sat up thought and Test got worried and run away. Stasiak ate a Tombstone for his troubles.

Vince went into the dressing room of Stone Cold Steve Austin but before he could say anything Austin told him he knows what hes going to say, that now The Rock is back that he dont need Stone Cold to save the WWF. Vince grovelled saying that isnt the case and Austin is still his number one guy he just thought he could use some help. Austin kicked off saying if Vince thinks he needs help then he needs to get out of Austins locker room before he gets a can of whoop ass opened on him.

Team WWF versus team WCW was a drawn out typical multiman match and all 10 men got into the ring brawling. And it would be the WWF standing tall at the end as The Rock marked his return to the ring with the pinfall on Lance Storm after hitting The Rock Bottom.

Thursday Night Smackdown - August 16th 2001

Smackdown opened with an impromptu match for once as Tajiri defended the WWF Light Heavyweight championship against Taka Michinoku, Scotty 2 Hotty and Funaki, who would be his partners on the Summerslam pre-show againt a select number of WCW Cruiserweights. Tajiri would retain after hitting the Buzzsaw Kick

The Dudleys returned after being away for a few weeks and went directly to Vince McMahons office, they said they have been watching, watching slently but its about time they spoke out. They believe The Rock is getting way too friendly with Ric Flair and think there is every chance The Rock is defecting to WCW, especially after what happened between Vince and The Rock at Wrestlemania. Vince gets worried and Bubba Ray tells him they should make sure The Rock knows not to step out of line, D-Von says they will happily take on The Rock in a handicap tables match. Scared of The Rock walking out on the WWF, Vince agrees to the match.

X-Pac defeated Rey Mysterio after hitting him with a low-blow as Justin Credible distracted the referee, X-Pac and Credible laughed up the ramp as Billy Kidman helped Mysterio to his feet.

Test was backstage walking around fearful of running into Kane and his mishap was being laughed at by WWF Hardcore Champion Spike Dudley and his girlfriend Molly Holly. Test warned Spike that he is lucky the 24/7 rule has been banished as he would happily kick hi head off and take that title off him, or maybe he should kick the head off his girlfriend instead. Spike gets in the middle and says he will see Test in the ring later on

Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit teamed up to defeat their Summerslam opponents Diamond Dallas Page and Lance Storm, Angle made Storm tap out to The Ankle Lock, Angle originally refused to release the hold, but Storm hobbled up the ramp as Angle and Benoit celebrated

Edge and Christian picked up the win over The APA and The Hardy Boys in a triple threat when Christian overturned a roll up on Edge by Jeff Hardy.

Test defeated Spike Dudley to become the WWF Hardcore Champion, Test was about to take out Molly Holly with a Big Boot but Spike jumped in the way and Test covered for the pinfall. As Test celebrated Kane came out on the ramp and raised his arms up, showering Test with trashcans

WCW Tag Team Champions Chuck Palumbo and Sean O'Haire defeated WWF Tag Team Champions Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko and Los Guerreros when Christian came down and pushed Eddie off the top rope and Palumbo and O'Haire hit the Doomsday Blockbuster Neckbreaker on Saturn.

Rhyno took on William Regal and after ducking a charging knee in the corner hit The Gore for the three count. Kanyon tried a sneak attack immediately afterwards but Rhyno blocked it and Kanyon ducked out of the ring before Rhyno could hit him with The Gore.

Ric Flair is interviewed and asked what he thinks about The Rock being in a handicap tables match 3 days before they square off. Flair says to be honest he hopes The Rock comes through scratch free, because he doesnt want an asterix next to his impending victory on Sunday.

Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Undertaker took on Booker T and Chris Jericho in tag team action and were in control until Undertaker pushed Austin saying he had it but Austin as always responded by stunning him. Austin walked out as Jericho hit the Codebreaker for the victory. Austin was seen mouthing that he fights alone and didnt need anybody

In the main event The Rock was being prepared for the 3D through a table but Ric Flair came out and pulled Bubba Ray out and The Rock hit The Rock Bottom on D-Von through the table to pick up the win. The Rocks hand was raised as Flair walked off with The Rock wondering why Flair had helped him as the show came to an end

A bitter battle was up next and was a rematch of the best match from Fully Loaded, as Kurt Angle took on Lance Storm. Both men were weary of one another but Angle seemed to have stepped up the intensity but Storm hit a Superkick out of nowhere that Angle only survived by because his foot was on the bottom rope, but the move cut Angle open. Storm locked in The Mapleleaf and Angle started to wane and was on the verge of passing out for the second straight pay-per-view but somehow gained the power to send Storm flying off. But then Angle walked straight into a huge German suplex. As Storm prepared to jump off the top rope on a prone Angle, Angle leaped up and hit a belly to belly off the top rope. Angle hit The Olympic Slam and then the straps came down and a bleeding Angle locked in the Ankle Lock and was screaming as Storm was in agony, Angle wouldnt let the hold go or be countered and Storm eventually tapped

Vince agrees then Taker leaves but Vince is making a call and is heard saying he needs somebody, now.

So it was finally time for the main event, the WWF Championship, WCW or WWF, Chris Jericho or Undertaker, possibly the end of the world as we know it. And both superstars produced a classic, Taker took to the match quickly beating Jericho down but Jericho used underhand tactics to even the score, but as Jericho had Taker in the corner, Taker gripped him and shoved him into the corner and started boxing him up. Taker pulled him out and went for The Last Ride but Jericho reveresed it into the Codebreaker. Jericho locked in The Walls of Jericho and held it for a long time but the WWF Champion eventually reached the ropes. JEricho went for a Lionsault but was caught by Taker around the throat who stood up and hit a Chokeslam, Taker covered but Jericho somehow kicked out. The match was poised as Jericho managed to springboard dropkick the referee after The Undertaker dodged and Jericho would hit the Codebreaker. But the ref was down and Jericho decided to lock in The Walls of Jericho but the crowd cheered as the ring opened up and out stepped a long haired savage looking Big Show, Show immediately grabbed a shocked Jericho around the throat but then Jericho started smiling as Show let him go and Chokeslammed Taker. Jericho coveres as Show revived the referee. Jericho got the cover and the win to win his first ever WWF Championship and give WCW victory at Summerslam

Chris Jericho defeated The Undertaker by pinfall to win the WWF Championship

WWF 5-6 WCW

After the match Jericho held his title aloft as he celebrated with a moody looking Big Show as Summerslam went off the air and the WWF were without their championship
