From wwe.com

Raw preview

The brackets have been announced for the tag team title tournament

1st Round Matches
Batista and Ric Flair vs Chris Benoit and a mystery partner
Edge and Rhyno vs Team Angle (Kurt Angle and Charlie Haas)
William Regal and Eugene vs Kane and Rosey
La Resistance vs The Basham Brothers

Eric Bischoff was stunned when Eugene made a draft pick for Smackdown and it turned out to be HHH. Eric Bischoff blames Eugene for this so instead of rewarding Eugene for beating Matt Hardy, Bischoff now wants to punish him. Eugene and William Regal will take on two of Raw’s biggest men, the unlikely duo of Kane and Rosey.

We will also see a reunion of Team Angle as Charlie Haas teams with his mentor Kurt Angle as they take on Edge and Rhyno. Plus who will Bischoff select as Benoit’s partner in the tag team tournament?

Also Randy Orton puts his Intercontinental title on the line against The Japanese Buzzsaw Tajiri. All this and more on Raw.

Raw will be up tomorrow.

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

WWE Raw
July 19, 2004
Raw begins with Eric Bischoff backstage. Bischoff says last week was a night that changed the face of the WWE and Raw came out on top. Tonight we begin a new era of Raw with new superstars coming to Raw but it’s a damn shame that they’ve lost HHH to Smackdow and he blames Eugene for this. Eric hopes that Eugene and Regal get squashed by Kane and Rosey. Now if Eugene and Regal get past Kane and Rosey he will forgive Eugene. Eric goes over the tournament matches we will be seeing tonight. As for Chris Benoit he will find out who his partner is very shortly. Eric has a grin on his face. The Raw video package plays as the announcers welcome us to the show. Jim Ross hypes up the tag team tournament for tonight and in our main event we will see Randy Orton defending the Intercontinental Title against The Japanese Buzzsaw Tajiri.

Evolution
Evolution’s music hits as they make their way down to the ring. Ric Flair gets the mic and talks about how Evolution are extremely disappointed that HHH has been drafted to Smackdown. That doesn't mean that Evolution will just go away as they are here now and they are going to make HHH proud. Batista then takes the mic and says the first step is making sure Randy walks out of SummerSlam the new World Heavyweight Champion, the youngest ever in WWE history. Batista says Evolution will make history again because soon they will hold all the gold because him and Flair will also become the tag team champions by winning the tag team tournament. Orton then says he will beat Chris Benoit at SummerSlam making his mentor, making his friend HHH proud. Orton hopes HHH becomes #1 contender for the WWE Title because at SummerSlam, him and HHH will make history when they win the WWE and World titles. They will be dominating their brands. Chris Benoit interrupts him and comes down to the ring and raises the world title belt in Orton’s face. Benoit starts talking about how he has beaten HHH, Flair and Batista and at SummerSlam he will make Orton tap out. Benoit talks about last week when Orton and HHH tried attacking him and Eddie but they were unsuccessful. He makes fun of HHH’s unsuccessful attempts at getting the world title back and now he’s no longer on Raw. Benoit has a smile on his face. Orton says tonight he will make a statement by sending a message to Benoit for what’s in store for him at SummerSlam when he beats Tajiri tonight. At SummerSlam, he will have what Benoit doesn’t have now, 2 titles.
Benoit vows to win the tag team tournament and Flair interrupts and says there is no chance of that happening because Evolution will win tonight whooo. Benoit says why wait for tonight when we can do this right now. He wants his partner, whoever Bischoff has selected to come down to the ring right now and lets do this. Eric Bischoff comes out on the stage and tells Benoit that his partner is someone who has a similar wrestling style like Benoit. He was drafted to Raw last week, this guy can mat wrestle, go technical, and high flying, he is Jamie Noble. Noble comes down to the ring and all members of Evolution have a big smile on their face. Benoit is quite surprised to see Noble selected as his partner. Noble takes the mic and asks Evolution why are they laughing? He may be small but they shouldn’t underestimate him, he was one of the greatest cruiserweights on Smackdown and now here to hang in here with the big boys. Him and Tajiri may be small but they are no longer part of Smackdown, no longer part of the cruiserweight division and Noble says tonight is the night for him and Tajiri to prove they can show what they are capable of on the number 1 show Raw. Noble surprisingly gets a decent pop for that. He looks at Benoit and extends his hand and tells him lets get it on, cementing Noble’s face turn. Orton goes over to join the announcers for commentary.

Match 1
Tag Team Title Tournament 1st Round
Chris Benoit and Jamie Noble vs Ric Flair and Batista
The bell rings as Benoit and Noble try to co-operate together. They get the early advantage at the start of the match as they work well as a team but then Noble takes a beating at the hands of Batista and Flair. Flair whips Noble into the corner and runs into a boot. Noble hits a dropkick and tags Benoit. Benoit chops away at Flair and hits a german suplex. Flair then gives Benoit a thumb to the eyes and tags in Batista who starts to wear down Benoit. Orton starts bragging about his accomplishments and thinks Tajiri is too easy of an opponent. Jim Ross thinks Orton is underestimating Tajiri. Orton says he will beat Tajiri and Benoit, he already is the greatest Intercontinental champion ever and will go on to become the greatest world champion ever. Batista misses a charge into the turnbuckle, which leads Benoit to hitting his triple german suplex. He tries going for the crossface but Batista elbows Benoit in the face and knocks him down with a clothesline. Flair is now back in the ring as he goes to work on Benoit’s knee. He goes for a figure four but Benoit counters with an inside cradle and then hits a snap suplex on Flair for a 2 count. Noble is back in and goes to work on Flair’s arm, Flair rakes him in the eyes and delivers some hard knife edge chops to Noble. Noble reverses an irish whip and takes Flair down with a hurracanrana. Noble gets a triangle choke on Flair but Batista gets in to break the hold. Flair back in control chopping away at Noble. He sends Noble into the corner and runs into a boot, clothesline by Noble. Benoit is tagged back in and hits a series of german suplexes on Flair. Benoit then connects with the diving headbutt from the top rope and Batista breaks up the pin and now all four men start brawling inside the ring. Noble ducks a charge from Batista sending Batista out of the ring. Noble goes for a diving plancha on Batista but gets caught by the animal who drives Noble on the steel post. Batista then distracts the ref, Benoit gets the crossface on Flair as Orton runs in the ring and nails Benoit with the Intercontinental title. Flair goes for a cover and the referee makes the 3 count. Evolution win as they celebrate outside the ring. Noble and Benoit get a standing ovation for their efforts.
Winners: Batista and Ric Flair
Backstage Kurt Angle meets his former protégé Charlie Haas. Kurt says since the draft there have been many reunions but the reunion of Team Angle is by far the best. They had their ups and downs last year but now it’s time for Team Angle to make a huge impact on Raw. Haas agrees, not only will Kurt get his hands on Edge, they will go on to win the tag team titles. Kurt says oh it’s true, it’s damn true. Team Angle leave as their match is next.

Match 2
Tag Team Title Tournament 1st Round
Team Angle vs Edge and Rhyno
Team Angle come down first, Rhyno then comes out followed by Edge. The match begins with Edge and Angle starting off beating the hell out of each other, Rhyno makes a blind tag and knocks Angle down with a clothesline. Rhyno uses his power to take control and beat down Angle but Angle comes back and drops Rhyno with a belly to belly suplex. He tags in Haas and they do some quick double team moves on Rhyno. The match goes back and forth with lots of counters and near falls. Edge and Rhyno are in control as Haas is taking a beating from Edge. Edge prevents Haas from making a tag to Kurt, Edge and Rhyno exchange tags beating down Haas. Rhyno hits a suplex and gets a 2 count. Rhyno whips Haas into the ropes and Haas counters with a crossbody and gets a 2 count. German suplex and gets a 2 count. He tags Angle in and Angle hits a german suplex of his own. He goes for the ankle lock, will Rhyno tap and Edge breaks it up. Haas gets in and all four men brawling in the ring as the action spills to the floor. The referee is counting with both teams beating the hell out of each other and they have been counted out. Rhyno hits the gore on Haas and then saves Edge from Angle and Rhyno hits Angle with the gore. Edge is pleased with what Rhyno just did. Edge and Rhyno celebrate up the ramp but neither team won, this means that Ric Flair and Batista receive a bye all the way to the finals.
Result: Double Count Out
William Regal and Eugene are backstage with Tajiri. Regal welcomes Tajiri to Raw, he goes over the great times they had on Raw when Regal used to be commissioner. He’s now glad that HHH is no longer on Raw, he now sees a weakness in Evolution and fires Tajiri up for his big match against Orton. Chris Benoit comes in and he’s mad at what Evolution did earlier on. Benoit also fires up Tajiri for the title match tonight. This is one of Tajiri’s biggest matches ever and wants Tajiri to seize that opportunity.

Match 3
Mark Jindrak vs Scotty 2 Hotty
Scotty 2 Hotty comes down for his match and he has no idea who he will face. The Coach comes out and goes over to the announce table and makes an announcement. A lot of guys came to him in the back and wanted to be associated with him but there was one guy that he was sold on. This man did not get that opportunity to shine on Smackdown because he was wasted on Smackdown’s B show Velocity. Now he’s been traded back to Raw and under Coach’s guidance he is going straight to the top. Coach introduces Mark Jindrak. Coach gets on commentary and mentions that Eric Bischoff is a genius but sometimes even a genius like Eric Bischoff can make mistakes and that mistake was trading Jindrak to Smackdown a couple of months ago. He talks about how Heyman did not utilise Jindrak and now Bischoff decided to get him back on Raw and placed Coach in charge of Jindrak. Jindrak will be his protégé, he’s destined to be a superstar.

Jindrak dominates this match throwing Scotty around the ring. Jindrak nails Scotty with a left hook, Jindrak kneels on Scotty and starts flexing his muscles going for a cocky pin but breaks up the count. Could be a big mistake here. Coach says Mark has a great future. He is the reflection of perfection. Jindrak kips up and then he hits a delayed vertical suplex. He whips Scotty into the corner and Scotty avoids a charge and hits a clothesline. Here we go Scotty goes for the worm and hits a chop on Jindrak and gets a 2 count. Scotty goes up top but Jindrak gets back up and hits a huge dropkick knocking Scotty all the way to the floor. Unbelievable. Coach says Mark has the highest vertical leap in the WWE. Jindrak then does push ups in the ring. Scotty rolls back in and Jindrak finishes him off with the Mark of Excellence. Jindrak wins and Coach says this guy is championship material. With the right direction he can lead him to superstardom. Coach leaves the announce booth and goes out to congratulate his man down at ringside. After the match Coach gets on the mic and starts praising Jindrak. Jindrak says he is the future of the WWE and he will reach his full potential on Raw. A very impressive victory for Mark Jindrak.
Winner: Mark Jindrak
Backstage Eric Bischoff and Trish Stratus were pleased with Rhyno’s performance. Eric encourages Rhyno to show the same fire, same intensity and this will get him success on Raw. Over here on Raw he will be treated fair and not the way how he was treated by Heyman. This is now the new and improved Rhyno. Trish offers her managerial services to Rhyno and assures him that she will lead him to success on Raw. Rhyno accepts her offer and it looks like Trish has found a new problem solver.

The Rock brings it via satellite
HBK’s music hits as Shawn Michaels comes down to the ring. Shawn takes the mic. The Heartbreak Kid is here tonight to give you what you want. Michaels says lets great straight to the point shall we… where’s Mr ego maniac, where is the peoples champion The Rock. Michaels says he knows that Rock’s not here tonight, he’s supposed to appear via satellite so lets get talking Rock. The Rock appears via satellite from Hollywood. Michaels says Thank you from taking out the time from your busy schedule from Hollywood, you’re probably looking for a paycheck but it’s a shame that you couldn’t show up here in person for the people. Rock says Finally The Rock has come back to Washington DC. Rock tells Shawn, let him make it crystal clear, the Rock answers to the people. The Rock, the great one, the peoples champ, the most electrifying man in all of sports entertainment is excited about facing Shawn Michaels at SummerSlam. Two icons going at it to see who is the greatest. Michaels then takes pot shots at Rock's movie career by making fun of him as the Scorpion King in The Scorpion King and also his performances in The Rundown, The Mummy Returns and Walking Tall and that if anything HBK would have made a way better Scorpion King and if HBK had been in The Mummy Returns, The Rundown, and The Scorpion King and in Walking Tall and that HBK makes a way better actor than Rock could ever be in his movies. The point being that HBK stays faithful to WWE and would never leave for Hollywood unlike Rock who wants to forget that he was ever a WWE wrestler. Michaels boasts about putting on an award winning performance when he screwed Bret Hart in Montreal. He denied it at the time, no one believed that he would be in this but he screwed Bret Hart and put on a show stopping performance of a life time. Now that is what you call great acting. Michaels discussed his back injury that kept him out of action for 4 years. Michaels believed that if he wasn’t injured then Rock would have never made it, infact Bischoff would have probably signed him in WCW and Rock would have even struggled there against most of the dinosaurs.

Rock fires back and says he knows how exactly Shawn is like, he wouldn’t stoop as low as Shawn. Rock says Shawn is all fake and how he lost his smile, faking injuries to miss the biggest show of the year. Rock then says Is that why he had to retire a year later or is it because you just weren't good enough anymore? Rock says how HBK has always been a pathological liar considering he screwed Bret Hart and he's never had to pay for that while Rock unlike HBK doesn't screw people. Infact he is honest with the people and always has been and always will be and that when Shawn broke his back, it was the greatest thing that happened to WWE because that is when The Rock took off. Just when Shawn Michaels thought it would be Hunter that would take the spotlight, it was The Rock and Stone Cold that became the biggest stars. Rock says if you were still here then, The Rock would have beaten HBK then and going to Hollywood was actually a dream of his that he has always wanted to explore and that the WWE will always be a part of him, that it is in his blood. Michaels talks about the things he’s done to pave the way for certain up and comers in this business. He talks about some of his epic matches and moments and states that no one has created more iconic moments like The Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels. Michaels claims that he’s created more legendary moments than The Rock. HBK is Mr WrestleMania. It’s a travesty that he’s not in the Hall of Fame and Michaels guarantees that he would get in the HOF before The Rock. At SummerSlam, Rock is in for the biggest challenge of his life. Rock tells Shawn to get ready because at SummerSlam he guarantees and The Rock means guarantees laying the boom boom, the smacketh down all over your candy ass IF YA SMELLLLLLLL What The Rock is cooking. Rock’s music hits and what a match this is going to be at SummerSlam.

Vince McMahon calls up Eric Bischoff and lets him know that next week will be the deadline of Bischoff’s job evaluation. So he will be here next week to decide whether Bischoff remains as GM. As for Heyman he will not be evaluating his job on Raw, he will be seeing him next week on Smackdown. Bischoff looks concerned.

A Summer games commercial is aired for SummerSlam and it features Batista and Kurt Angle.

Match 4
Tag Team Title Tournament 1st Round
The Basham Brothers vs La Resistance
This was a quick match, The Bashams get in some offense but La Resistance dominated the match. The Bashams performed an illegal switch but it backfires and La Resistance hit the Au Revoir on Danny Basham to win the match.
Winners: La Resistance
Women’s Champion Gail Kim is interviewed backstage and Tajiri shows up and bows at her and then starts hitting on Gail. Tajiri says he could do with some good luck for tonight so Gail gives him a good luck kiss and Tajiri gets excited. Randy Orton shows up and tells Tajiri that he can have all the luck he wants but Tajiri will be stepping in the ring with greatness, the legend killer, the King of the Ring Randy Orton. He’s been Intercontinental Champion for 7 months and at SummerSlam he will be holding two titles.

Match 5
Tag Team Title Tournament 1st Round
William Regal and Eugene vs Rosey and Kane
Regal and Eugene make their way down to the ring. Rosey then comes out and then Kane makes his way down to the ring. Kane and Rosey dominated this match beating the hell out of Eugene and Regal. Rosey rams Eugene’s head into the turnbuckle but it has no effect on Eugene, Eugene then hits Rosey with some lefts and rights. Eugene hit the big boot and follows up with a legdrop and Rosey kicks out at 2. Rosey then knocks Eugene down with a clothesline and follows up with a big splash and Eugene just kicks out at 2. Rosey tags Kane in. Kane hits a sidewalk slam and gets a 2 count. Eugene avoids a charge as Kane goes face first into the turnbuckle, tag is made to Regal. Regal and Eugene then double team Kane and Regal nails Kane with a right hand and gets a 2 count. He tags Eugene back and Eugene mocks Kane and hits a stunner on Kane and gets a 2 count. Eugene starts posing like Hogan and goes for a Rock Bottom, Kane blocks and hits a chokeslam. He goes for the pin and Eugene gets his foot on the bottom rope. Eugene then avoids a charge as Kane goes into the turnbuckle. He makes the tag to Regal who knocks Kane down with a right hand. Kane tags Rosey who charges into Regal, drop toe hold by Regal. Regal knocks Kane off the apron and then applies the Regal stretch on Rosey to make him submit. Regal and Eugene win and start celebrating in the ring. Kane is furious and he gets back in as Regal and Eugene bolt out of the ring. They celebrate up the ramp as Kane angrily looks on. Kane then ends up chokeslamming his own partner Rosey. Regal and Eugene have now advanced to the Semi Finals and they will face La Resistance next week.
Winners: William Regal and Eugene

Backstage Todd Grisham interviews Eric Bischoff regarding his future on Raw. Bischoff is not in a good mood and he talks about how he’s done a fantastic job to turn Raw around and hopefully he will remain Raw GM. Raw will not be the same without him, he’s passed Vince’s job Evaluation before and he will do it again. He will continue to put on a great show and hopefully next week Mr McMahon will reward him and ends up firing Heyman on Smackdown.

Main Event
WWE Intercontinental Title Match
Randy Orton © vs Tajiri

Tajiri makes his way down to the ring, huge match here for Tajiri. The Intercontinental Champion Randy Orton then makes his way down to the ring. The bell rings, back and forth action begins with Randy Orton dominating in the early going beating down Tajiri but Tajiri comes back with a handspring elbow knocking Orton down. Shot to the ribs by Tajiri and follows up with a snap suplex and gets a 2 count. Orton reverses a whip and sends Tajiri into the turnbuckle. He comes charging at Tajiri who leapfrogs over Orton. Tajiri goes for the tarantula and Orton wisely hanging on to the bottom rope and Tajiri rolls through and gets a 2 count. Orton gets up and hits a clothesline on Tajiri. He goes up top and lands a crossbody and gets a near fall. Orton then misses a clothesline and Tajiri lands a heel kick on Orton. Tajiri lands some kicks on the back of Orton and then takes him down with a snapmare, and bounces off the ropes and misses an elbow. Orton gets up and delivers a European uppercut on Tajiri. Orton then goes for a chinlock. The fans get behind Tajiri as Tajiri is able to get back on his feet and elbows out of the hold and bounces off the ropes and nails Orton with a spinning heel kick and gets a 2 count. Orton blocks a suplex and counters with a DDT and gets a 2 count. Orton then hits his patended backbreaker and gets a near fall. Orton starts hitting Tajiri with some lefts and rights in the corner and whips him hard into the opposite turnbuckle. Orton continues to beat Tajiri down until Tajiri reverses a whip. Leapfrog by Tajiri and launches Orton with a huge monkey flip and the impact sends Orton right out the ring. He sends Orton back in and picks him up and hangs him upside down in a tree of woe position up on the top rope. Tajiri very intense tonight, Tajiri then baseball slide dropkicks Orton right in the face. Orton ducks a spin kick and dropkicks Tajiri into the ropes and starts hitting him with lefts and rights.

Orton goes for an RKO but Tajiri counters into a backslide and gets 2 ½. That was so close. Orton gets up and goes for a kick to the gut but Tajiri blocks and spins Orton around and goes for a kick which Orton blocks and spins Tajiri around and Tajiri nails Orton with a spinning heel kick what a shot. That should be it right here and both men are down. Tajiri goes for a pin and Orton kicks out at 2. Wait a minute Ric Flair and Batista are out here. Tajiri sets up for the buzzsaw kick. Orton ducks, Orton tries his patended backbreaker, Tajiri counters and accidently shoves Orton into the ref knocking the ref out. Chris Benoit runs down and gets on the apron distracting Orton who tries to knock him off but Benoit get down, Orton turns around Tajiri sprays green mist right in Orton’s eyes and nails him with the buzzsaw kick. The ref is back to his feet as Tajiri goes for the cover 1…2…3. omg Tajiri did it. What a huge upset, what a victory for Tajiri. Huge pop for Tajiri as Tajiri has become the Intercontinental Champion. He has ended Orton’s 7 month reign as champion. Benoit, Regal, Eugene get in the ring to celebrate with Tajiri as Flair and Batista pull Orton out of the ring, Benoit has a smile on his face laughing at Evolution as Raw comes to a close.

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

Nice work.
At one point, I thought Orton would be traded and it would be a Legend vs Legend Killer feud against Eddie of the legendary Guerrero family, but hopefully you change up the Orton/Benoit feud from real life.
Absolutely LOVING the build with Rock and HBK. The best kinds of heels are always the ones who truly believing they are doing the right thing and sometimes actually have a point. Like HBK having a point with Rock abandoning the people and not taking wrestling too seriously while HBK always puts his heart and soul into the business one way or another. I'm really struggling on who to side with here and that's JUST the way I like it.
Oh, excellent! I think Coach as a manager is awesome! Little knowledge of who Mark Jindrack is, but Coach as his natural prickish self is a great choice. He maybe an asshole, but he's always been able to make me laugh.
The correct decision to have Orton drop the belt finally. Taijri was always talented and funny at the same time. Also, Orton is too big for the belt and can fully move on to the Main Event scene as the next big time Heel.
Hope to see Smackdown soon. Am still rooting for the Dead man so I personally can read a dream match I've always wished to see, at least one on one!

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

RAW Review

Evolution opening up the show was great, it definitely shows that even though they don't have Triple H as their leader anymore on RAW, they can still be a force on RAW and what better way to do that than by having Orton become the new leader of Evolution and Flair & Batista making sure that Orton walks out of SummerSlam the new World Heavyweight Champion, the youngest ever, and I hope Orton makes that jump by becoming the youngest World Champion in history and then Benoit coming out to interrupt the party was great, it definitely sets the tone for their match at SummerSlam and Benoit has pretty much beaten HHH, Flair, and Batista and at SummerSlam I really do hope that he does beat Orton

And Noble as Benoit's partner, seriously please don't make me laugh, HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Batista & Flair beating Benoit & Noble, that was to be expected and now that they have, they are one step closer towards becoming World Tag Team Champions again and one step closer to winning this tournament, they are my picks

Kurt Angle backstage with Charlie Haas, Team Angle reunited, this is awesome, and hopefully since Shelton Benjamin is also here on this brand, the 3 of them perhaps could reunite and then Team Angle would be just as dominant as they once were

Team Angle vs Edge & Rhyno in the Tag Title tournament ending in double countout which means Evolution gets a bye all the way to the finals, Evolution then they are definitely going to win this, it's almost obvious now, but at the same time it also sets the tone for Edge vs Angle at SummerSlam, and Rhyno I am guessing now he has turned heel and if he has, then maybe Rhyno will get a push hopefully

Benoit, Tajiri, and Regal all backstage, I really loved that segment because it sets the tone for the main event tonight which will be for the IC Title with Orton defending against Tajiri, this is Tajiri's first main event ever, I think, and if he wins the IC Title, then hopefully he gets a push and it helps that Benoit is with him to help fire him up as well as Regal considering Regal & Tajiri back in the day they used to be quite the oddball pairing

Mark Jindrak beating Scotty 2 Hotty, hopefully it is a sign of good things to come for Mark Jindrak and if Coach is behind him, then the sky's the limit for this guy, definitely in line to become a champion one day on RAW

Trish finding herself a new problem solver and that's Rhyno apparently, hopefully with a Rhyno/Trish pairing, she can actually help lead Rhyno towards becoming either Intercontinental or even World Heavyweight Champion and with him as her bodyguard he will make sure that she becomes Women's Champion once again

Rock & HBK's segment, I was pulling for Rock all the way here and I hope Rock does beat HBK at SummerSlam and I will tell you why, because with a Rock win, he can finally get his last hurrah in the sunset and he can walk off into the sunset into Hollywood coming off a win and HBK really doesn't need the win because he's already over, and a win for HBK wouldn't really do anything for him while a Rock win would prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Rock could still whip some rudy poo candy ass, IF YA SMELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKIN' but at the same time HBK he brought up some valid points

Vince McMahon calling Eric Bischoff to let him know about his job evaluation, and Bischoff worried that he could be fired, well he should be worried as far as I'm concerned because especially after the job he has done as RAW GM abusing his power, he will definitely lose his job and I for one will be happy to see him go and as for Heyman, I hope he gets fired too

La Resistance beating The Bashams, this match I couldn't really care less about to tell you the truth but at the same time as long as it carries La Resistance towards victory, I am happy, and hopefully we get to see Batista & Flair vs La Resistance in the finals

Tajiri and Gail Kim, now that is a pairing I could get behind for sure if it were to ever happen but then Tajiri asking her to wish him luck and she does but then Orton comes into the scene which was great and then telling Tajiri that all the luck in the world won't help him, something tells me Orton's luck is about to run out because Orton's title reign as IC Champion has been nothing sort of lucky in my opinion

William Regal & Eugene beating Kane & Rosey, that was awesome but at the same time I hope Kane gets some retribution on Eugene by attacking him one of these days, now that would make my day a whole lot better, that's for sure and as for Regal, he's really done nothing as far as I'm concerned, no IC Title reign, no Tag Team Title reign, Regal in my opinion he is just done HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Eric Bischoff seems mightily confident that he's going to pass this job evaluation, but what if he fails, then that means he will get fired and then we could get a new RAW GM, nothing would make me happier especially if the new GM turned out to be Stone Cold, I love Sheriff Austin upholding the law and I hope he gets to do that again on RAW

Tajiri winning the Intercontinental Championship becoming the new Intercontinental Champion ending Randy Orton's 7 month reign, I love it, this is awesome and also awesome is that Benoit in a way he helped Tajiri to become the new IC Champion by distracting Orton and then Tajiri using green mist on Orton, this is so awesome and at this point Orton he doesn't need the Intercontinental Championship because if anything he is set to become a main eventer anyways, but in all seriousness with Tajiri as the champion, hopefully he will become a fighting champion and actually restore the IC Title back to its former glory by having the IC Title being built up as a title that is a stepping stone towards becoming World Heavyweight Champion

All in all, awesome RAW and I can't wait until Smackdown!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

Thanks guys. Really appreciate the feedback guys. Thanks TheCmiz for checking out this thread, Smackdown is now up. Hope you enjoy the show. :) Terry- Noble was very underrated, he was a very good wrestler. Since he was let go in Sept 04, I’m only going to use him up till then so from July till Sept, I’m going to give him a brief push. He will be featured in some high profile matches. At least he will be used better than he actually was during that period on Smackdown.

WWE Smackdown
July 22, 2004

The Highlight Reel on Smackdown

The announcers welcome us to the show as Smackdown begins with Chris Jericho in the ring. For the first time ever Jericho will host the highlight reel on Smackdown. Jericho explains his actions last week, RVD ran his mouth and got what he deserved and now he’s sitting at home recovering. Jericho advises Van Dam not to return next week because if he does then Jericho will put him on the sidelines permanently. Jericho brags about how he is the highlight of the night. Tonight is not about him, it’s about his guests who just recently got back together. He introduces Matt Hardy and Lita who come out to a big pop. Jericho welcomes them to the Highlight Reel. He says the last time they were on the highlight reel, Matt dumped Lita. Isn’t it hypocritical of Matt to get back with Lita? Jericho starts to stir up trouble and asks Matt why all of a sudden does he now need Lita, he was better off without her. He tells him that she can’t be trusted, he’s talking from experience because Trish played with his emotions and turned on him. It got him nowhere but now he’s on top of the world. Matt Hardy tells Jericho that while Trish was a slut, Lita isn’t. She loves him and he loves her, everyone makes mistakes, Jericho’s affair was one sided but this is two sided. Matt says he was losing his way on Smackdown but now with Lita by his side again this can only mean good things for Matt Hardy. Behind every successful man there’s a successful woman and in Matt Hardy’s life there is Lita. Jericho then asks Lita can she trust Matt though? Lita says she’s willing to give him another chance and believes he has changed but she sees what Jericho is trying to do here.

Jericho cuts her off and tells her this is his show and he’s the host and he tells them that he also has two other guests but they are actually a great couple and they are Val Venis and Dawn Marie. It looks like Matt and Lita are ready to fight but Jericho tells them that he doesn’t want any trouble here and Dawn agrees with Jericho. Jericho thinks Dawn is hotter than Lita, she’s a smart woman, a great manager and a great assistant. He’s also impressed with what Val has done since coming to Smackdown. Val put Big Show out of action, he almost became US Champion. With Dawn by Val’s side the future looks great for the big Valbowski. Dawn is unique because she can be trusted and she isn’t like Trish or Lita. Jericho then makes fun of Hardy and talks about Hardy’s run on Smackdown. He was embarrassed by Eugene on Raw a guy who he refused to take under his wing and he beat Hardy. Val, Dawn and Jericho start laughing. Val Venis claims him and Dawn are the greatest couple on Smackdown and tonight he will go on to win the gauntlet match while Dawn states that Lita made a huge mistake last week and now she’s going to pay for it. She’s going to make Lita and Matt’s life miserable on Smackdown. Matt Hardy fires back and calls Jericho and Val a jackass. Lita calls Dawn a slut. Lita tackles Dawn and we have a catfight in the ring. Val gets a cheapshot on Hardy, Hardy fights back but Jericho from behind gets a cheapshot on Hardy. Jericho leaves the ring and watches Val and Dawn give Matt and Lita a beatdown. Val goes up top and hits the moneyshot on Hardy. The fans boo Val and Dawn heavily as they stand tall over Matt Hardy and Lita.

A Summer Games commercial is shown for SummerSlam and it features Eddie Guerrero cheating to win a race. Classic Eddie, lying, cheating and stealing.

Match 1
The Dudleys vs The FBI
Bubba starts off with Johnny the Bull and Bull gets the upper hand and hits a big shoulder takedown. Bubba comes back with some lefts and rights until Stamboli reverses a whip and sends Bubba hard into the turnbuckle. Stamboli then picks Bubba up and gets a military press drop on Bubba. He makes a tag to Nunzio, Nunzio starts stomping away at Bubba and then works on his arm. Italian legsweep by Nunzio and he gets a 2 count. Bubba fights back with a right hand and then tags D-Von. The Dudleys take control until Stamboli gets a cheapshot on D-Von. Nunzio tags Stamboli and then The FBI beat down D-Von. Stamboli misses a charge and D-Von tags Bubba. Bubba hits the Bubba Bomb. Nunzio gets in and The Dudleys hit the wazzup headbutt on Nunzio. The Dudleys then hit the 3D on Stamboli to win the match. Impressive performance here by The Dudleys in their first match back on Smackdown.
Winners: The Dudleys
Backstage Paul Heyman and Dawn discuss the gauntlet match tonight. Torrie and Stacey enter the office and tell Paul that next week when Mr McMahon evaluates his job, they will be hoping that Heyman loses his job. Heyman tries to reason with them but they ignore him and walk off.

Backstage Josh Matthews interviews Maven. Maven talks about making an impact tonight. He’s glad to be here on Smackdown because this is the land of opportunity. He’s an underdog but he eliminated The Undertaker from The Royal Rumble 2 years ago and he almost eliminated him last year at The Rumble. Maven vows to win the gauntlet match tonight and then he will go on to beat The Undertaker next week.

Match 2
Rene Dupree vs Spike Dudley
This was a very quick match, Dupree dominates the match, Spike gets very little offense in here. Spike tries the Dudley Dog but it is countered into a powerbomb. Dupree then does the French tickler and drops Spike with a Dupree bomb and pins him for the 3 count to win the match.
Winner: Rene Dupree

Backstage Akio and Funaki are watching a video of Tajiri winning the Intercontinental title on Raw. They are very happy for him. Teddy Long walks in and tells Akio that he sees some tremendous potential in him. He’s on the lookout for a young talented star and wants to take Akio under his wing and he promises to make Akio the greatest cruiserweight on Smackdown. Now if Akio wants to just sit around and hang out with a loser like Funaki who’s been here for 6 years, never won the cruiserweight title and done absolutely nothing then that’s fine. It’s because of Funaki that they can’t team up anymore but if Akio takes Teddy Long’s advice then he will have a bright future on Smackdown. Funaki tells Akio not to listen to Long but Long says look you gotta be smart, look at their former leader Tajiri, he’s now on Raw and now he’s made an instant impact, he’s now the Intercontinental champion. Long gives Akio his card and tells him to think about it, holla holla holla. They end up looking surprised as Long leaves.

John Cena challenges Booker T to a match at SummerSlam
Booker T comes out and complains about not winning last week, he talks about how close he came to winning. He beat that sucka John Cena and then he would have beaten that sucka The Undertaker, it’s about time Booker gets what he wants and that’s a title shot now can you dig that. The crowd boos him so Booker tells them they need to start showing respect because he’s a world class athlete, he’s the biggest star on Smackdown. John Cena comes out on the stage and interrupts Booker. Cena cuts a freestyle rap on Booker and then makes his way down to the ring and talks about last week how Booker cheated by hitting him with the chain. Since Booker wants a title shot, how about John Cena kicks his ass at SummerSlam. Cena says you want some come get some. Booker accepts and claims that he’s better than Cena as he whooped his ass last week and he’s gonna do it again at SummerSlam. Now can you dig that suckaaaa. Booker gets a cheapshot on Cena, he whips him off the ropes and goes for a side kick, Cena ducks and picks him up for the F-U, Booker slips out and escapes and retreats up the ramp as Cena stares him down. Cena’s music plays as the doctor of thuganomics John Cena raises his belt and taunts Booker.

Backstage JBL guarantees victory tonight. He claims that infront of all those Canadians at SummerSlam, you will see a great American JBL becoming champion.

Chavo Guerrero barges into Heyman’s office and complains about the lack of competition for his title. Heyman needs to step it up and do something about this otherwise if Heyman gets replaced, a new GM will give him better competition. He wants this division to take off, this division is built around him and there’s no cruiserweight who’s better than him. Since becoming champion, he’s been winning on Velocity and Smackdown but he feels he needs to be featured more on Smackdown but wants stronger competition. He claims if he was drafted to Raw, Bischoff would have given him better competition because he knows how to handle a cruiserweight division. At this rate no one is worthy of challenging him, Heyman may as well name this the Chavo title. Heyman tells Chavo to get that stupid smile off his face, he’s been listening all this time to his crap and yes he does have major plans for this division. He will soon be scouting talent for Smackdown and will look to bring in more cruiserweights for this division. Not only just that next week he will make a very important announcement regarding the division next week. Something that will impress Mr McMahon. As for competition, next week Chavo will defend his title in a triple threat match against Spike Dudley and Nunzio. Chavo demanded to know what the special announcement was but Heyman told Chavo to leave.

Match 3
Gaunlet Match
Matt Hardy vs HHH

Eddie Guerrero comes out to join the announcers for commentary. Tazz asks Eddie who will win the gauntlet match and Eddie is hoping that his friend Rey Mysterio wins. Matt Hardy who was assaulted earlier on by Val Venis comes down to the ring for the gaunlet match. His opponent is THE GAME HHH. The bell rings as they lock up, HHH takes the early advantage by hitting Hardy with lefts and rights. Hardy then counters an irish whip attempt with the side effect and gets a 2 count. Hardy gets in a few punches. HHH then reverses a whip and hits Hardy with a high knee and then HHH takes control of the match. Back and forth action as HHH sends Hardy into the turnbuckle and comes charging into him and catches a boot right to the face. Hardy hits a clothesline and follows up with a legdrop off the top rope and gets a 2 count. He then hits the richochet and gets a near fall. HHH then counters the twist of fate with a ddt and gets a near fall. HHH then gets an abdominal stretch on Hardy, the fans get behind Hardy and Hardy gets out of the hold with a hiptoss and follows up with a clothesline. He then comes charging into HHH and HHH counters with a spinebuster. HHH then sets up for the pedigree and plants Hardy with the pedigree and pins him for the 3 count. HHH advances and starts taunting Eddie motioning for the WWE Title.

Winner: HHH
The cameras cut backstage as Val and Dawn are watching on the monitor and they enjoyed watching Matt Hardy being eliminated.

Match 4
Gaunlet Match
HHH vs Maven

Eddie Guerrero then talks about the possibility of facing The Undertaker at SummerSlam. Eddie says he respects him but he will do whatever it takes to remain champion. Maven comes down next. As soon as Maven gets in the ring, HHH starts beating Maven down. He then whips Maven hard into the turnbuckle. HHH then starts stomping away at Maven in the corner and then brings Maven back to his feet and Maven catches HHH with a jawbreaker. Maven starts hitting HHH with some right hands and whips him off the ropes and hits a dropkick and gets a 2 count. HHH gets up and Maven hits another dropkick. Maven goes up top and gets a crossbody and gets 2 ½. So close. Maven whips HHH into the corner and does the 10 punch in a corner with the crowd counting along but HHH counters with an atomic drop. Both men get up at the same time and HHH kicks Maven to the gut and drops him with a pedigree. He goes for the pin and scores the 3 count to advance. HHH is on a roll as he makes quick work of Maven. Again HHH taunts Eddie and Tazz thinks Eddie could be facing the Game HHH at SummerSlam.
Winner: HHH

Match 5
Gaunlet Match
HHH vs Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio’s music hits as he comes down next. HHH goes over to attack Rey but Rey starts fighting back and sends HHH back inside the ring. Rey comes charging into HHH who sends Rey over the top but Rey lands on the apron, springboard headscissors as HHH gets caught on the ropes. Rey goes for a 619, HHH gets up and counters it with a running high knee to the face. He goes for a cover and gets a 2 count. HHH then takes control by wearing Mysterio down but Mysterio counters most of HHH’s holds. HHH tries a flapjack but Mysterio counters with a dropkick. Mysterio is so explosive as he then hits a wheel barrow bulldog on the game and gets a 2 count. HHH then reverses a whip, leapfrog by Mysterio who bounces off the ropes and HHH catches Rey with a clothesline. HHH then catches Rey with a reverse elbow and then hits a backbreaker and gets a 2 count. He sends Rey outside the ring and sends him into the steel steps. HHH breaks the count and then goes over and grabs Tazz’s water bottle and spits water right on Eddie. Eddie starts fighting with HHH and the referee tries restoring some order as Eddie sends HHH back in the ring. Mysterio rolls back in as both men are down on the mat.

Paul Heyman comes out on the stage and orders Eddie to leave the ring right now or he will be stripped of the title. Heyman gets booed heavily, Eddie leaves as HHH has smirk on his face waving goodbye to Eddie. The match continues with HHH beating down Mysterio in the ring. He then sets up for the pedigree but Mysterio counters into an inside cradle and gets 2 ½. HHH gets up and hits a clothesline. Mysterio then reverses a whip and dropkicks HHH over the top rope. Mysterio then hits a flying senton over the top rope to the floor. The referee starts counting as Mysterio gets back in. HHH starting to get back up but wait a minute Mysterio bounces off the ropes and hits a 619 knocking HHH right down. What impact. The ref still counting, HHH tries getting back in but it’s too late the referee has counted HHH out. Mysterio advances. He’s done it, he has defeated The Game HHH. Mysterio took advantage and outsmarted the game. Now HHH loses an opportunity at the WWE Championship. HHH is furious. HHH gets in the ring as Mysterio slides out and starts celebrating. Mysterio advances and the ref orders HHH to leave. HHH heads up the ramp and stares Rey down, yelling that this isn’t over yet.
Winner by count out: Rey Mysterio
Backstage Vince McMahon calls up Paul Heyman and tells him he will be here on Smackdown next week to decide Heyman’s fate. Heyman seems very concerned.

Match 6
Gaunlet Match
Rey Mysterio vs Val Venis

Val Venis comes down next, Val kicks Rey to the gut and sends him into the ropes and catches him with a knee lift. Val sends Rey into the turnbuckle, Val comes charging in, leapfrog by Rey who rolls Val up and gets a 2 count. Sunset flip by Rey and gets a near fall. Val reverses a whip and catches Mysterio with an elbow. Val then starts to take control by wearing down Mysterio. Back and forth action here with Mysterio taking beating, kicking out of Val’s moves such as the fisherman suplex, Russian legsweep. Val then sets up for the money shot, wasting a lot of time posing but Mysterio gets up and crotches Val on the ropes. Rey then hits a leg scissors off the top rope and gets 2 ½. So close. Rey then comes charging into Val who sidesteps Rey tossing him over the top rope. Val distracts the ref while Dawn Marie gets a few cheapshots. He then hits the 619 and follows up with the west coast pop and pins Val for the 3 count to advance. One more win away for Rey to win this gauntlet.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
They cut backstage as Teddy Long meets Paul Heyman. Long tells Heyman he’s hoping that Akio takes up his offer and then indeed the cruiserweight division will take off. Heyman likes what Long just did, he is like Heyman, he has a great creative mind. He sees a great future for Teddy Long on Smackdown.

Match 7
Gaunlet Match
Rey Mysterio vs JBL

Mysterio’s arch nemesis JBL is in next and JBL can not wait to get his hands on Rey Mysterio. Mysterio beat JBL not only at The Great American Bash but also in a steel cage match. The bell rings as JBL immediately starts hitting Rey with some clubbing blows to the back. Mysterio has been wrestling in this gauntlet match for a very long time now, JBL continues the assault by hitting the last call and gets a 2 count. Mysterio avoids a charge from JBL and then starts to build momentum by hitting a wheelbarrow bulldog on JBL and gets a 2 count. Hurracanrana and another near fall. Mysterio hits JBL with some lefts and rights and JBL reverses a whip and catches Rey with an elbow. JBL lifts Mysterio up on his shoulders for a backbreaker submission hold, Mysterio battles out and escapes and bounces off the ropes but gets caught with a big boot by JBL. JBL goes for the pin and gets a 2 count. JBL starts beating on Rey in the corner, he sends him into the ropes and Rey came in flying with a crossbody on JBL who went right into the ref knocking the ref out of the ring. Mysterio then starts hammering away on JBL and JBL gets a forearm shot on Rey. JBL goes for a powerbomb, Mysterio counters into a hurracanrana sending JBL into the ropes. Rey sets up for the 619. Rey then drops the dime but there is no referee to count the pin. HHH runs down and attacks Rey and then sends Rey shoulder first into the turnbuckle. He then plants Mysterio with a pedigree. HHH leaves to huge heat. JBL gets up and the referee slowly gets in the ring and gets back to his feet as Mysterio staggers to his feet and JBL nails him with the clothesline from hell. 1…come on Rey kick out…..2…3. No not this way, JBL wins. JBL is celebrating in the ring.

Meanwhile the cameras cut backstage as HHH is with Paul Heyman and HHH demands a match with Rey Mysterio. Heyman thinks that’s a great idea and makes the match for SummerSlam. HHH has a smirk on his face and so does Heyman and they shake hands. Back to the ring JBL still celebrating and the lights go out. The dong strikes and The Undertaker comes out on the stage and does his cut throat signal to JBL. JBL seems terrified. They will meet next week and the winner will face Eddie Guerrero at SummerSlam. Smackdown ends with The Undertaker staring JBL down.

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

Smackdown Review

I loved how you opened up Smackdown with Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel, the first ever Highlight Reel on Smackdown and his guests end up being Matt Hardy & Lita who are back together and I just loved how you had Jericho trying to stir the pot between Matt and Lita by trying to get one of them to turn on the other one and then Jericho bringing in his other guests who end up being Val Venis & Dawn Marie and then after the whole segment ending in just disarray with Val Venis & Jericho leaving Matt Hardy laying and Dawn Marie leaving Lita laying with Jericho leaving to huge heat as well as Dawn & Val who get even bigger heat, Val & Dawn sort of remind me like Dolph Ziggler & Vickie Guerrero, I can't help but notice the similarities between the couples or maybe it's just me

The Dudleys looked impressive against the FBI reuniting in their first match back as a tag team on a new show, Smackdown, if anything London & Kidman, if I were them, I would not want the Dudleys going for my titles because the Dudleys if anything are perhaps the greatest tag team in WWE history and for them to feud with London & Kidman eventually over the WWE Tag Team Championships, will certainly be something

Torrie & Stacey telling Heyman that they hope that he loses his job when McMahon comes to Smackdown next week to evaluate Heyman as Smackdown GM, I can't wait, if anything these divas I hope next week they make things even tougher on Heyman

Maven's backstage interview was great, I really hope he can cause an upset in this gauntlet considering 2 years ago he eliminated Taker from the Rumble and then last year in 2003 he almost eliminated Taker again in the Rumble as well, but now it's 2004 and I hope Maven if anything he at least gets a good push here on Smackdown since he is on a new show

Rene Dupree the French Phenom beating Spike Dudley, if anything the best squash match that I think I have seen in a while, if anything Rene deserves better than this, if anything give him better competition especially better competition that can actually hang with him for more than 5 minutes

Teddy Long backstage, the Playa, he comes across Akio and Funaki and basically tries to turn Akio against his own partner by telling him that he will take Akio to the top but that is only if he ditches Funaki as he brings up Funaki's failures and the fact that Funaki is the reason why they can't even be a team anymore, and then Long giving Akio his card, something tells me that Akio is going to turn on Funaki or vice versa with Funaki turning on Akio

The challenge is set for SummerSlam, it's going to be Cena/Booker at SummerSlam 2004 for the United States Championship, this makes me so happy and I hope Cena beats Booker at SummerSlam to retain but with Booker as of late I can really see him as U.S. Champion

And JBL guaranteeing victory tonight, I really hope he does win because JBL would make a perfect heel champion on Smackdown, that's for sure

And Chavo's segment with Heyman, I didn't really care anything about, so I won't even get into that

Matt Hardy vs HHH ending with a HHH win, HHH is obviously winning this gauntlet, and it wasn't even like this was close, it was a landslide victory but at the same time Matt also hung in there against HHH and actually Matt he could have won this but even with Lita in his corner it didn't really make a difference because HHH is THAT DAMN GOOD!

Val Venis and Dawn Marie backstage watching Matt's match, something tells me we are going to be in store for a Val Venis & Dawn Marie vs. Matt Hardy & Lita Intergender Tag Team Match either next week on Smackdown or at SummerSlam

HHH beats Maven obviously to advance in this Gauntlet making quick work of Maven, HHH is my favorite to win this Gauntlet and it looks like he's well on his way to getting there and he even goes as far as taunting Eddie who is at the commentary table motioning for that belt, HHH vs Eddie at SummerSlam, I'm calling it

In a shocking upset Rey Mysterio beats HHH via count-out to advance in this Gauntlet, I think I am more shocked that Rey won this because HHH was like bulldozing his way through his competition only for him to lose his momentum by losing to Rey Mysterio only because it was that damn Eddie who got involved costing HHH essentially by distracting him, and now Rey moves on in this Gauntlet, then if anything it's going to be Eddie vs Rey at SummerSlam now

Rey Mysterio ends up beating Val Venis only because Lita got involved and then Val getting distracted which causes Rey to take advantage to get the win, now if anything Rey is definitely going to SummerSlam now

T-Long and Heyman backstage, I loved it, and I really hope that T-Long ends up turning face at some point and he ends up becoming the new Smackdown General Manager replacing Heyman

And JBL vs Rey in the Gauntlet Main Event was awesome, a re-match of the Great American Bash, and it ending with a JBL win, because HHH gets involved getting his payback in on Rey to settle the score between the 2 of them but it won't be over until they have a match but either way this is awesome, then that means JBL is going to have to face The Undertaker in the finals of this Gauntlet next week

And the stage is set for SummerSlam with HHH basically going into Heyman's office demanding him to make it him vs. Rey at SummerSlam and Heyman giving in like a pure suck-up, either way we get to see the Dream Match of Rey vs HHH at SummerSlam

Overall great Smackdown show and I can't wait until RAW!!!!!!!!!

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

WOW, your fast! Awww, I really hope you change your mind and let Noble stick around, he's always been EXTREMELY underrated, I know you hate keeping guys around after their gone, but try to make an exception like with Rock.
YES! Face or heel, I'll always love Y2J.
My favorite WWE couple of all time Lita and Matt. Hope they have a good run and Matt gets a decent push.
I agree with Terry, I think Val and Dawn are this BTB version of Vickie and Dolph and I LOVE IT! But I still hope Matt goes over cause I think the main priority should be pushing the young talent, don't want to repeat WCW LOL!
One of Wrestling's greatest teams the Dudleys and hope they face off Kidman and London for the titles.
Hope T-Man becomes General Manager if that abusing power warped fat ass gets fired.
Cena challenging Booker is nice. Continue to push the young talent. I've always LIKED Cena believe it or not, just not his character for the last few years. Keep him a badass rapper who takes shit from no one and I'll definitely be happy.
YUCK! Don't want to hear from the Ted Dibiase wannabe.
He's right. Chavo doesn't really have any contenders for the title. Wish to see some new blood for the crusierweight division soon.
I hope HHH Get's some momentum cause he's still in my eyes, Benoit's Bitch, after Benoit made him tap, made him say I QUIT, and pretty much kicked his ass over the last few months.
I am rooting for Rey cause maybe for Summerslam it can be a repeat of the legendary Mask vs Title match in WCW.
HHH vs Rey! Now THAT is a feud I love! This can truly be the feud necessary to push Rey to the Main Event scene. I am hoping this will last a good few months cause this has alot of potential.
Maybe this can be a set up.
Round 1: Summerslam
Round 2: Survivor Series
Round 3: WM 21
And again, yuck, the Dibiase wannabe wins. But soon he'll face off against a monster whose been on the warpath since GAB and destroying his family.
Hope Undertaker wins so we can get another Dream Match to what I think should be the second biggest PPV besides WM.
Hope to see Raw up SOON!

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

Thanks guys. thecMiz- Rock will also be gone after SummerSlam. In 2004, Rock made his last appearance in real life for a divas search segment back in August 2004 so after SummerSlam I won't be using Rock anymore in this btb. I want to try to keep this realistic and see what i can do with the roster i have, that's why i got rid of Chavo Classic, A-Train, Mordecai, Paul Bearer and Rikishi as they were either injured or let go by the company. Also I don't want to bring in MNM and other stars early because I want to use the roster that was actually available that time. As Christian and Shelton were injured in real life around May and June, that's why i've not been using them but they will be back after SummerSlam.

From WWE.COM

WWE News and Notes

The Rock's contract expires with the WWE expires this year and he has not signed an extension. He is expected to finish up with the company at SummerSlam to concentrate on his acting career. Both parties have left the door open to work together again in the future as The Rock could be affiliated with the company in some capacity to help promote his movies on WWE programming. The reason why Rock came back this year was to work a program with Randy Orton and have that one dream match with Shawn Michaels. His match against Shawn Michaels will be his farewell match, officials are still discussing the match outcome whether to have Rock win his final match or to have Shawn Michaels go over.

Officials have discussed the idea of JBL forming a stable on Smackdown.

Officials have discussed the idea of a mixed tag team match between Matt Hardy and Lita vs Val Venis and Dawn Marie at SummerSlam.

You may notice that I’ve got some big ppv worthy matches on Raw or Smackdown, the reason for this is that I don’t plan on doing some of these matches on ppv so that’s why it’s on free tv. I'm not always going to do previews, may put some previews up if i need to do some announcements from wwe.com.

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

Alright, I GUESS I can accept that.
Hmm, don't worry about the card being stacked cause like I said, I think SummerSlam should be the 2nd biggest WWE PPV right after Wrestlemania so alot of high profile matches are a GOOD thing.
(sigh) Hate giving a push to the third rate Dibiase wannabe, but maybe he can become the leader of the Val/London/Kidman/Dawn Marie group?
Rooting for Regal and Eugene for a continuing feud with Evolution.
Nice preview!

Kurt Angle confronts Edge

The announcers welcome us to the show as Raw begins with Edge making his way down to the ring. Edge runs down the fans and then talks about his match with The Rock coming up later on as they will meet for the first time ever. Edge believes that he will win because he is better than The Rock. Edge then brings up his feud with Kurt Angle. He talked to Eric Bischoff earlier on and his match with Angle will now be a #1 contenders match. He didn’t get a title rematch on Smackdown but once he beats Kurt then he will set his sights on becoming world champion. Kurt Angle comes out to interrupt Edge and Kurt says over the last two weeks they’ve been beating the hell out of each other and the matches ended in a count out. Kurt proposes that their match at SummerSlam is a LAST MAN STANDING match. Edge hesitates but agreed to the match. He thinks Kurt made a huge mistake on coming here to Raw, for his own safety Kurt should have stayed on Smackdown. Kurt fires back and promises to humiliate Edge in his hometown of Toronto at SummerSlam.

Edge fires back and reminds Kurt of his most embarrassing moment when he shaved his head bald. Edge also takes credit for starting the “you suck chants” and Edge tries a “you suck” chant but it doesn’t catch on. Kurt tells Edge why wait till SummerSlam when he can beat the hell out of him right now. Kurt starts brawling with Edge. The fight ends up outside the ring as Angle beats on Edge but Edge gets a forearm shot to the face and quickly retreats to the back but Angle chases his down backstage. They end up brawling backstage and the fight ends up in the parking lot. Eric Bischoff arrives and gets security to escort Kurt out from the arena. Edge starts mocking Kurt as Edge waved goodbye.

Match 1
6 Man Tag Match: Chris Benoit, Tajiri and Jamie Noble vs Evolution
The announcers show a recap of how Orton lost his Intercontinental title. This was an awesome match to start off Raw with lots of back and forth action. Flair from behind then gets a chopblock on Tajiri and then gets back in and saves Orton from the crossface. Flair goes for a figure four but Benoit counters into the sharpshooter. Orton gets up and saves Flair and hits the RKO on Benoit. He pins Benoit for the 3 count to win the match. Orton pins Benoit, for the second week running Benoit has been pinned. Evolution celebrate and then go to check on Batista and help him to the back.
Winners: Evolution
Backstage Eric Bischoff tells Coach he does not have any problem whatsoever with Kurt Angle. He’s never had the opportunity to work with Kurt before, he’s glad that Kurt’s on Raw but he just can’t let his show get out of control. Since Mr McMahon is here tonight he needs to restore order. He just can not have Kurt coming out later on to ruin the huge match between Edge and The Rock so that’s why he had to have security escort Kurt out of the arena.

Match 2
Charlie Haas vs Rhyno
The match begins with a lock up, Rhyno sends Haas into the ropes and catches Haas with a reverse elbow to the face. Rhyno starts punching and kicking Haas, Haas reverses an irish whip and gets an armdrag on Rhyno. Haas then starts to work on Rhyno’s arm and then Rhyno avoids a clothesline and hits a back suplex and gets a 2 count. Belly to belly suplex and he gets a near fall. Haas goes up top and hits a flying clothesline and gets a near fall. Trish then grabs Charlie’s leg for a distraction, Haas turns around and Rhyno hits the gore for the win. Rhyno celebrates his win with Trish and what an impressive win for Rhyno.
Winner: Rhyno
Backstage Gail Kim congratulates Tajiri on his title win last week but Tajiri looks dejected as his team lost tonight but Gail tells him not to worry, she believes Tajiri will be a great fighting champion just like she is. Since becoming champion, she’s been beating some of the toughest divas on Sunday Night Heat. Molly confronts Gail but first she tells Tajiri that since he’s become champion, now the target is on him and now he’s a marked man, everyone will be after him. Just like she’s now after Gail. She then asks Gail if she really is a fighting champion then how about that she proves it when she puts the belt on the line against her next week on RAW. She reminds her that she beat Gail for the title last year and now that she’s become champion for the second time, she’s going to beat her again. Gail tells her to bring it on and Molly shoves Gail and walks off. Tajiri holds Gail back and Gail yells that next week she’s going to shut Molly up.

Match 3
Edge vs The Rock
Edge comes out first and he’s in a foul mood after what happened earlier on. The Rock comes out next to a huge ovation. What a classic match this was, back and forth action as both superstars took turns getting the upper hand until Edge charges at The Rock, but Rock moves out of the way and Edge crashes to the outside. Rock follows and sends Edge back in and starts hitting Edge with some right hands and sends him into the ropes and hits a samoan drop and gets a 2 count. They exchange lefts and rights until Rock gets the sharpshooter on Edge, Edge is fighting to get to the ropes and he does. Rock goes for the Rock Bottom, Edge elbows Rock in the face and hits the Edge-O-Matic and scores a 2 count. Edge mocks The Rock by doing his version of the peoples elbow, Rock kips up and hits Edge with some right hands and launches Edge into the turnbuckle with full force and hits him with a clothesline. Edge reverses a whip and gets a flapjack on The Rock. Edge goes for the Edge-cution, Rock counters and here we go Rock sets up for the Rock Bottom but Edge counters into a DDT and gets a 2 count. Rock then sidesteps a spear attempt from Edge throwing Edge over the top rope. Rock sends Edge back in and launches him into the turnbuckle with force and knocks him down with a clothesline. Here we go Rock takes his elbow pad off as he is setting up for the peoples elbow but HBK appears on the screen and The Rock stops and looks at the screen. Michaels has a wig on with sun glasses and imitates The Rock by mocking him. Michaels says at SummerSlam, Rock will be tasting some sweet chin music, if ya smell la-la-la-la-ow what The Heartbreak Kid is cooking. The screen goes blank. Edge takes advantage of the distraction and Rock turns around and gets speared by Edge. Edge goes for the pin and scores the 3 count to pull off his biggest win of his career. Edge celebrates his win up the ramp.

Winner: Edge
Mr McMahon has arrived in the arena and bumps into Eugene and Regal in the back. He wishes them luck for their match and after their match he will be seeing Eric Bischoff in the ring.
Match 4
Tag Team Title Tournament Semi Finals
William Regal and Eugene vs La Resistance
The match begins with Eugene starting off with Sylvan. Eugene knocks him down with a shoulder block and starts imitating Hulk Hogan and points at Sylvan. They lock up again, Sylvan knees Eugene to the gut and hits a forearm shot to the face and sends Eugene into the ropes and hits a backdrop. Sylvan taunts Eugene. They lock up again and Sylvan backs Eugene to the corner and goes for a right hand but misses. Eugene starts hitting Grenier with lefts and rights and then sends him into the ropes and a hiptoss by Eugene. He tags Regal and they double team Sylvan. Sylvan tags in Conway. Regal and Conway go at it with Regal getting the upper hand, butterfly suplex by Regal and gets a 2 count. Sylvan then gets a cheapshot on Regal which allows Conway to gain the momentum for his team. La Resistance exchange quick tags working on Regal in the corner. Regal comes back by hitting La Resistance with a double clothesline. He makes the hot tag to Eugene who’s fighting it out with Sylvan hitting him with some right hands. He sends him into the turnbuckle but runs into a boot. Chinlock by Sylvan, the fans get behind Eugene who breaks out of the hold and hits a running axe handle on Sylvan and gets a 2 count. Aeroplane spin by Eugene, Conway tries getting in to break it up but gets knocked down as his own partner’s boot hits him. Now all four men in the ring at the same time with Regal knocking Conway down with the power of the punch. Eugene then connects with the stone cold stunner and pins Sylvan Grenier for the 3 count to advance to the finals. Big pop for Eugene and Regal as they celebrate in the ring. They cut to Kane backstage watching on a monitor as he watches Regal and Eugene celebrating and he is angry. Back in the ring Eugene and Regal still celebrating. Next week they will go on to face Ric Flair and Batista in the finals. The winning team will become the tag team champions.
Winners: William Regal and Eugene
Todd Grisham gets a word with Randy Orton. Orton gloats over his victory tonight, he pinned Benoit and Orton says it's his destiny to become champion at SummerSlam. Todd then asks him about the condition of Batista. Orton says Batista is doing fine and next week Batista will win the tag team titles with Ric Flair. Todd then asks Orton since he lost the Intercontinental title does he plan on asking for his rematch. Orton first calls Tajiri’s win a fluke, he sprayed the mist in his eyes last week and that stings like hell and this time he did it to Batista. Orton claims he is better than Tajiri and can beat him anyday of the week. Orton says his goal is to become world champion, that is his destiny and since Tajiri also sprayed mist in Batista’s eyes, he’s going to let Batista deal with Tajiri and get the belt back. Orton claims he isn’t selfish and since Batista has never won singles gold here, he will be bringing the gold back to Evolution. Batista will be a double champion, Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion. At SummerSlam Evolution will have all the gold.
Eric Bischoff's job evaluation
In the ring Vince McMahon evaluates Eric Bischoff’s job. He wanted Bischoff to turn Raw around and wants to hear from Bischoff about the recent developments on Raw and if he was to remain as GM what are the future plans for Raw? Bischoff looks nervous but starts explaining what he has done on Raw and why he is the right man for this job. He talks about the big matches that are featured on Raw, even tonight we saw Edge vs The Rock for the first time ever and coming up later we’ve got HBK vs Kane for the first time ever. Two huge ppv quality matches given away on Raw. Then he vows to control his stars and tonight he made sure that there would be no further trouble between Edge and Kurt by having Kurt Angle escorted out of the building. Eric then brings up the draft picks for Raw, Raw picked up Edge, Kane and Kurt Angle. Raw also stole two of Smackdown’s great cruiserweights but now he plans on elevating them. It certainly has worked because Tajiri made an instant impact by ending Randy Orton’s 7 month reign to become the Intercontinental champion. Now if Raw lost it’s biggest star HHH then they can certainly prove that Raw can still be bigger without HHH because Raw is not a one man show. Then he moves on to the tag team title tournament, he may not like his nephew Eugene, he’s screwed up many times but now he will stop giving Eugene a hard time if Eugene starts acting sensible for once. Eugene could possibly be holding his first title in the WWE next week. Wouldn’t that please Mr McMahon and Vince says indeed it will. Vince tells Bischoff to continue on so Bischoff announces that next week in our main event we will see Chris Benoit versus Kane. Vince liked this announcement and so did the fans but Vince wants Eric to continue on.
Bischoff starts panicking so he comes up with a ladder match idea for SummerSlam for the Intercontinental Title. Since a lot of guys don’t have a match at SummerSlam, he’s going to give them a shot at The Intercontinental Title and this will be the biggest ladder match ever. It will feature 8 men. The participants are Tajiri, Batista, Ric Flair, William Regal, Eugene, Kane, Rhyno and Charlie Haas. Huge pop from the fans. Now Bischoff is starting to get confident. Vince asks the fans well what do they think of Eric Bischoff and they boo Bischoff. Vince is about to make his decision and gets interrupted by Coach who comes down with Mark Jindrak and Trish Stratus. Vince hates getting interrupted but he’s glad to see Trish here. Bischoff thinks it’s not a good time for them to come down and interrupt Mr McMahon. Vince tells them they better make this quick. Coach apologised and starts sucking up to Bischoff praising him and Vince cuts him off and tells him to SHUT UP. He lets Jindrak talk and Jindrak explains how Bischoff and Coach have saved his career and Jindrak blamed Paul Heyman for ruining his career. Bischoff traded him back to Raw and now his career will take off on Raw thanks to Bischoff and Coach so he hopes Bischoff remains in charge of Raw. Trish tries talking but fans start a slut chant. She continues on and states that Bischoff is the right man for this job, he knows what it takes to make this show great, with Eric in charge, Raw gets better every week. She applauds Bischoff’s huge ladder match announcement and proclaims that Rhyno will become Intercontinental Champion at SummerSlam. He was treated unfairly on Smackdown but thanks to Eric Bischoff he will given the opportunity to shine on Raw because now she’s managing Rhyno. She pleads with Vince to let Eric keep his job.

Vince then makes the decision. He then teases Bischoff by raising his voice YOU’RE…(changes his tone of voice) not fired. Bischoff has a huge sigh of relief and the fans boo Eric and Vince. Vince has a big smile on his face and he states that he was sold on Bischoff’s points. After putting him under a lot of pressure he’s survived the job evaluation again. He’s turned Raw around and he’s very lucky to have people like Trish, Coach and Jindrak on his side. Vince says dammit he was in a firing mood tonight but he still has to pay a visit to Smackdown this week. The job evaluation on Smackdown will be done in a different way. Vince congratulates Bischoff on remaining in charge of Raw and hopes that Bischoff keeps up the good work. Bischoff thanks Mr McMahon as Vince then leaves and Jindrak lifts Bischoff on his shoulders as Bischoff celebrates in the ring. Bischoff has done it, history repeats itself as Bischoff has passed the job evaluation again.

A summer games commercial is shown for SummerSlam featuring Tajiri playing table tennis against a fellow Japanese star. It ends with Tajiri spraying green mist on his opponent.

Backstage Eric Bischoff calls up Paul Heyman rubbing salt in his wounds. He first sings whatcha gonna do when Vince comes for you. Eric then brags that he survived Vince’s job evaluation for the 2nd time and he can’t wait to tune in to Smackdown this week to see Heyman get fired. Eric starts singing na na na na hey hey hey goodbye to Heyman and then starts laughing and hangs up.

Main Event
Kane vs Shawn Michaels

Kane comes out first, HBK comes out next to a mixed reaction. Kane started off gaining the upperhand by using his power beating down Michaels until Michaels avoids a charge and starts hitting Kane with some right hands. Michaels then chops away at Kane. He goes for a crossbody but gets caught and Kane slams him down. Kane whips Michaels off the ropes but Michaels counters with a sunset flip and gets a 2 count. Kane gets up and hits a clothesline. Kane mounts Michaels in the corner and starts hitting Michaels with some right hands and elbows to the face. Michaels fights back with some knife edge chops and then clotheslines Kane all the way to the floor. Kane rolls back in and Michaels starts stomping away at Kane. Kane reverses a whip and launches Michaels into the turnbuckle and again starts hitting him with lefts and rights, he then starts choking him out and breaks it up. Sidewalk slam and gets a 2 count. Kane sends Michaels into the ropes but Michaels counters with a flying forearm and both men are down. Michaels kips up and goes for a sharpshooter on Kane but can’t quite get him over and Kane kicks Michaels into the turnbuckle. Michaels goes right back to Kane hitting him with some right hands, he whips him off the ropes and Kane hits a big boot and gets a 2 count. Kane then goes up top and hits a flying clothesline and gets a near fall. Kane sets up for a chokeslam, Michaels kicks Kane to the gut and scores with a DDT. He goes up top and connects with a flying elbow and gets a near fall. Michaels starts tuning up for the band and suddenly The Rock’s music hits and The Rock doesn’t come out. Michaels turns around and Kane hits the chokeslam with authority and pins Michaels for the 3 count to win the match. Big win for Kane as he takes on Chris Benoit next week. Kane then leaves as Michaels gets up and he is throwing a tantrum in the ring and The Rock’s music hits again. The Rock comes out on the stage and taunts Michaels by doing his just bring it motion. Michaels is furious. Rock stares HBK down as Raw comes to a close.
Winner: Kane

WWE SummerSlam

Current Card

Icon vs Icon: The Rock vs Shawn Michaels

WWE Title Match: Eddie Guerrero © vs The Undertaker or JBL

World Heavyweight Title Match: Chris Benoit © vs Randy Orton

#1 contenders Last Man Standing Match: Edge vs Kurt Angle

HHH vs Rey Mysterio

RVD vs Chris Jericho

US Title Match: John Cena © vs Booker T

Intercontinental Title 8 Man Ladder Match: Tajiri © vs Batista vs Rhyno vs Charlie Haas vs Ric Flair vs William Regal vs Eugene vs Kane

*I know that an 8 man ladder match is a clusterfuck but I wanted to give a lot of stars a spot on the card. I was originally going to go with a 6 man ladder match leaving out Rhyno and Haas but I decided to also give them a spot on the card. I want SummerSlam to be a huge ppv and now the card is stacked, giving the Raw side huge matches along with Smackdown matches that are already huge matches. When i get to the year 2005 I will introduce the MITB concept but it will be 6 guys.

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

RAW Review

Kurt Angle & Edge confronting one another to start off RAW was awesome and then it all ending in disarray with these 2 men attacking each other, this feud one way or the other needs to end and what better way to end it than in Last Man Standing, it is a difference maker and especially to do it on such a huge stage as SummerSlam, I see their match stealing the show

Evolution (Orton, Batista, and Flair) beating Noble, Benoit, and Tajiri in a 6-man Tag Team Match, means Orton just keeps picking up momentum while Benoit keeps losing momentum going into their World Heavyweight Championship match at SummerSlam and I think the rise of Orton starts at SummerSlam with him becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion, and the spots during the match with the green mist going into Batista's eyes, I see Batista tearing Tajiri apart now because of what he did, and as for Noble, he needs a match

Rhyno beating Haas, I love this new heel turn of Rhyno's as well as this new association that he has with Trish Stratus, because with him being paired up with Trish can only mean good things for him

Backstage with Gail Kim/Tajiri/Molly, that segment I will not even get into that right now because at least to me it didn't really seem all that much important

Edge beating The Rock, Edge has done it, that means Edge is definitely on the rise here on RAW especially after beating The Rock only because HBK distracted The Rock but it was enough for Edge to get the victory, and Edge if anything I see him winning in Toronto at SummerSlam in Last Man Standing but I was expecting Angle to get involved but no he had to be escorted out of the arena by security, typical heel move

Mr. McMahon is here, boy are things bound to heat up

Tag Team Title tournament semis with Regal & Eugene beating La Resistance, to set up a match with Batista & Flair, I can't definitely wait until that match occurs, Evolution is taking all the gold back and the first stage is the Tag Titles

Orton's backstage interview was great, boy is he confident, and I will say this, I believe in Orton, do you believe in destiny people? Because I do, and Benoit is running on borrowed time as champion

Bischoff's job evaluation, the damn bastard survives it again, I really wanted to see him get fired but now that he is still GM of RAW, I wonder what he has planned now

Bischoff still antagonizing Heyman, why doesn't that surprise me? I would have thought that their feud would have been settled at the Draft Lottery show but they are still at it with one another, either way it needs to end because to tell you the truth it used to be funny but it isn't anymore, it's ran its course

Kane vs HBK in the main event with Kane getting the win because of The Rock distracting HBK returning the favour with each man costing the other one their matches, only intensifies their feud heading into SummerSlam and I for one can't wait until they go at it at SummerSlam

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

You know, I just want to also say something that I just now realized and wanted to say. THANK YOU for keeping around The Crippler and Latino Heat as well as giving them both incredible title runs. Despite my...hesitance at seeing a 'certain' champion. it still warms my heart seeing someone give them both the great reigns they deserve.
Wow, I'm surprised. I thought Edge won't want anything to do with Kurt after the COUNTLESS ass kickings he's gotten over the past few months. Maybe all of those have screwed with Edge's head. Hmmm, is Summerslam the end of the feud? I would think it has a bit more potential.
That match is gonna be hard to predict cause Kurt might get the last laugh, but it IS Edge's hometown.
Oh man, Orton pinning Benoit. That gives him some SERIOUS momentum.
I would love to see A Taijri and Gail pairing.
Right choice with Edge winning. Gives Edge some more credibility and gives a bit more fire to the already white hot Rock/HBK feud.
I for one hope Regal and Eugene win. The whole 'Evolution hold all the gold' blah blah blah has been done to DEATH. They have had their reign of dominance in the past and the group should be running it's course.
I do think Orton has a real good chance of winning at Summerslam. Like I said before, Benoit has had an AMAZING title run, facing HBK in an Iron Man match, making HHH his bitch at King of the Ring, pinning Jericho, and alot of others and has truly set himself as a Main Event level wrestler. Between Benoit's dominance and Orton as one half of the future of the WWE, with a certain Smackdown 'Doctor' as the other half, I think the World title match can honestly go either way.
WOW! Bischoff keeping his job was a surprise. Was predictable seeing Easy E's biggest ass kissers Trish and Coach trying to stick up for him. I thought Vince would have sense if Eric runs Raw into the ground like he helped run WCW into the ground.
Gyimah is right. The GM feud has DEFINITELY run it's course.
Hope Paul has less luck if he faces Torrie, Stacy, and Matt can point out Paul abusing his power by putting him first in the gauntlet match.
Hey can I ask? Is Kane a face now or more like a tweener if he's facing a heel HBK?
HAHAHA! Gives Kane some momentum for the Intercontinental title match and adds another match to Michaels vs Rock.
Excellent show! Nothing went wrong and all feuds progressed nicely.

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

Thanks guys. I enjoyed Eddie Guerrero’s reign but he deserved a better reign so in my btb I’ve booked him the right way by giving him quality feuds and great opponents. Edge vs Angle at SummerSlam won’t be the feud ender but I will be ending the feud soon. I like Tajiri and he was very underrated and deserved a push. Since he’s on Raw and so is Gail, I’m going to pair them up. They would make a nice pairing. Kane is still a heel, HBK is more like a tweener but in this feud with Rock, he’s playing the heel role. Smackdown will be up soon. It will be a promo heavy show, a lot of matches will be short.

From WWE.COM
Paul Heyman has announced a mixed tag match for SummerSlam as Matt Hardy teams with Lita as they will take on Val Venis and Dawn Marie.

Also on Raw, Chris Benoit's match against Kane will now be a No Disqualification Match.

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

WWE Smackdown
July 29, 2004
Smackdown begins with Vince McMahon and Paul Heyman backstage. Vince tells Heyman that tonight’s job evaluation will be a lot different to what it was on Raw. He explains that Bischoff has survived his job evaluation on two occasions, therefore he’s now going to test Heyman tonight as Heyman has never been through this. Vince asks Heyman what does he have planned for tonight. Heyman goes over the matches, Undertaker vs JBL, Rey Mysterio will take on Booker T. Since he’s a generous guy he’s decided to even re-unite Akio and Funaki as a team as they will get a tag title shot. Vince then tells Heyman that throughout the night he will be hearing from certain members on the roster who will be giving their thoughts on Paul Heyman.

HHH meets Rey Mysterio’s family
The Smackdown video package plays as the announcers welcome us to the show. Tazz points out that Rey Mysterio’s family is here in the front row as they are here to see Rey Mysterio in action tonight. HHH’s music hits and The Game makes his way down to ringside and he has a HHH t-shirt on him. HHH gets a mic and ranted about being angry last week and blamed Rey Mysterio for costing him the opportunity of receiving a title shot at SummerSlam. However tonight he’s actually in a good mood. He goes over and introduces himself to Rey’s family. He asks Dominic to take off his Mysterio mask as he wants to see how he looks like. He tells Dominic he better put that mask back on, he’s better off with the mask. He then asks Dominic who his favourite stars are besides Rey and Dominic says his favourite stars are Eddie Guerrero, John Cena and The Undertaker. HHH didn’t expect that so he states that since Rey is on Smackdown, maybe Dominic never watched Raw because Raw had the greatest star ever HHH on the show and now he’s on Smackdown. HHH gives Dominic his HHH t-shirt and tells him that size is extra small so that not only will that fit Dominic and his sister, but it would also fit their father Rey Mysterio. HHH starts laughing. He then tells Dominic and Aaliyah(Rey’s daughter) that at SummerSlam they should switch off their TV sets because they wouldn't want to watch SummerSlam as HHH promises to give Rey Mysterio the beating of his life. Aaliyah starts crying and HHH then takes shots at Rey’s wife Angie by telling her to be with a real man, The Game HHH, he can give her the time of her life. Huge heat for HHH. Rey Mysterio’s music hits as he runs down and attacks HHH. Mysterio being pushed to the limit here and HHH retreats up the ramp. Mysterio stares HHH down warning him not to mess with his family.

Some of the Smackdown superstars gathered backstage in the locker room and Vince addressed them as Paul Heyman looks on. Vince wanted to know their opinions on Paul Heyman and the direction of Smackdown. Val Venis and Dawn Marie show support for Paul Heyman. Val states that Bischoff never gave him a chance on Raw but on Smackdown Heyman revived his career. With Dawn Marie by his side, Val claims that he’s going straight to the top. At SummerSlam him and Dawn are going to embarrass the losers Matt Hardy and Lita. Hardy and Lita respond back by talking against Heyman and Matt says now that Lita and him are back together not even Val and Dawn can stop them. Matt challenges Val to a match next week and Val accepts. Matt and Val start arguing and Vince tells them to SHUT UP. He orders Val and Hardy to leave and Lita leaves with Matt.

Match 1
Tag Team Title Match
Paul London and Billy Kidman © vs Akio and Funaki
Michael Cole shows footage of Rey Mysterio taking his family backstage and he will be out later on with them when he takes on Booker T. Now on to tag team action, this was a quick back and forth match. Akio and Funaki started off well but the champions gained momentum when Funaki missed a plancha and gets sent back in by Kidman. Funaki then gets beat down as Kidman and London exchanged quick tags. Akio was getting frustrated and was desperate to get in the ring. Kidman hit the BK Bomb on Funaki as he went for the pin with London running in to stop Akio breaking the pin. Kidman got the 3 count and the champions retain. Following the match Akio brings Funaki back up to his feet and nailed him with a corkscrew insiguri and then follows up with a rolling wheel kick. Teddy Long makes his way down as Akio is beating the hell out of Funaki, hitting him with some devastating martial arts kicks. Teddy Long gets in the ring and embraces Akio and it looks like he’s finally got a new protégé. Akio then comes charging at Funaki and nails him with a corner backflip kick. Akio then gets a Hanging figure four necklock on Funaki until he finally lets go and leaves with Teddy Long to huge heat. Funaki left motionless in the ring.
Winners: Paul London and Billy Kidman
Backstage Vince McMahon now hears from Stacey Keibler and Torrie Wilson. They think Heyman is bad for Smackdown. Stacey Keibler points out that when she was on Raw they had a women’s division, at least Bischoff gives the Raw divas opportunities. On Smackdown they may not have a women’s division but they still want to be here as part of this show but it’s all about Dawn Marie. She also reminds Vince that a few years ago leading up to WWE’s huge match against The Alliance, Heyman ran his mouth off against Vince. Heyman cuts in and says that was the past and he’s changed and he even apologises to the divas. Torrie tells Heyman he didn’t take any action on Kane when he put his hands on them. It’s not a safe working environment under Heyman and they hope that he gets replaced as GM. Torrie believes that the Smackdown stars hate Heyman more than the Raw stars hate Bischoff. The Smackdown roster even walked out on Heyman earlier on this year, this is something that has never happened with Eric Bischoff on Raw. Vince thinks Torrie made a great point there. Teddy Long then shows support for Heyman. Teddy criticises Bischoff, he’s not happy about Bischoff retaining his job and thinks it would be unfair if Heyman loses his job. Long thanks Heyman for saving him from Raw. Teddy Long then gloats about his new protégé and talks about how Akio was held back by Funaki. From now on he will take the cruiserweight division by storm and from now on he will not be known as Akio, he will be known as Jimmy Yang.

Match 2
Cruiserweight Title Triple Threat Match
Chavo Guerrero © vs Spike Dudley vs Nunzio
This was a quick match with lots of near falls. Johnny the Bull Stamboli was at ringside tried getting involved but the referee ejected him from ringside. Nunzio hits the Sicilian slice on Chavo but Spike breaks up the pin. Spike hit the Dudley Dog on Nunzio but Chavo just breaks up the pin in time and Chavo takes advantage of this and drops Spike with the Gory Bomb and pins him for the 3 count to retain the title.
Winner: Chavo Guerrero

Backstage Paul Heyman tells Vince that he has big plans for the cruiserweight division. He sets up a #1 contenders cruiserweight tournament which goes well with a lot of cruiserweights so this works in favour for Heyman. He announced that the tournament will be taking place next week and the 1st match will be Jimmy Yang vs Funaki. Then he announced the rest of the tournament matches which will take place over the next few weeks. Billy Kidman vs Spike Dudley, Shannon Moore vs Paul London and The Hurricane vs Nunzio. Since Chavo wanted competition, this doesn’t mean that he gets to watch and rest, he will be throwing cruiserweight competition at Chavo so maybe the stars that get eliminated from the tournament could still get title shots against Chavo. Who knows maybe Chavo may not even be champion by the time we get to the finals of the tournament. Vince thought this whole idea was very interesting. Heyman even states that next week The Dudleys will meet The Hurricane and Shannon Moore and the winning team will get a future tag team title shot against Billy Kidman and Paul London.

Backstage Matt Hardy tells Lita how much he loves her and he’s the luckiest guy in the world. Matt vows to kick Val’s ass next week.

Match 3
#1 Contenders Match
The Undertaker vs JBL

The announcers recap the gauntlet matches that took place over the last 2 weeks. The match begins with The Undertaker hitting JBL with lefts and rights. JBL slides outside the ring and Undertaker follows. JBL gets back in and as soon as Undertaker is in JBL starts stomping away at Taker. Undertaker reverses an irish whip and goes for a corner clothesline but JBL avoids it and starts hitting The Undertaker with some right hands. He then sends Taker into the ropes and hits a big boot and gets a 2 count. JBL starts hitting Taker with some right hands into the corner but Taker no sells and beats the hell out of JBL. JBL rakes Taker in the eyes and starts hitting Taker with some clubbing blows to the back. He then starts working on Taker’s leg and drops a few elbows. He gets a sleeper hold on Taker, Taker fights out of the hold and bounces off the ropes and hits a flying clothesline on JBL. They end up fighting outside the ring and JBL whips Undertaker into the steel post. Undertaker manages to get back in by 8. JBL then whips Taker into the corner and runs into an elbow by Taker. Taker then hits snake eyes on JBL and follows up with a big boot and then a legdrop and gets a near fall. Undertaker sets up for the chokeslam, JBL rakes Taker in the eyes and bounces off the ropes and hits Taker with a clothesline from hell. He goes for the pin and Undertaker kicks out at 2. JBL can’t believe it. He goes for another clothesline but runs into a chokeslam from The Undertaker. Undertaker then lifts JBL up and drops him with the tombstone. 1..2..3. The Undertaker wins and he will now face Eddie Guerrero for the WWE Title at SummerSlam.
Winner: The Undertaker

Latino Heat confronts The Phenom
Following the match WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero comes down to the ring and starts clapping. Eddie congratulates The Undertaker and tells him that he has a lot of respect for him. He is one of the all time greats and he’s really looking forward to stepping in the ring with The Undertaker. Taker has proven time and time again that he’s unstoppable, you’re a living legend holmes. He reminds Undertaker that he defeated him and Kane at Judgment Day in a match that many people wrote him off. They thought he could never win but he did. It was the biggest challenge of his life and he overcame another obstacle. He looks Taker right in the eyes and tells Taker that he may be almost 7ft tall but he’s not afraid of him, he’s not intimidated by him. Come SummerSlam, if Taker wants a fight he’ll give him a fight. He’ll give him the fight of his life. Undertaker grabs the mic off Eddie and tells him that Eddie is the prey and he is the hunter. The Undertaker has slayed many dragons in the past, seen them, fought them, and even beaten the best. He then puts Eddie on notice that his days as champion are numbered. Eddie may be brave but we will see how brave he is when he meets the most powerful entity in the WWE. Taker states that the time is drawing near for Eddie Guerrero to fall victim to The Undertaker. Undertaker does his cut throat signal and looks at Eddie’s title. Undertaker’s music plays and the lights go out. The lights are back on and Undertaker has gone as Eddie Guerrero looks on. Could Eddie’s time as champion come to an end at SummerSlam?

Vince now asks Paul Heyman what he’s done for this brand and what else will he do to take Smackdown to the next level? Before Heyman is about to explain what he’s done for his brand he gets interrupted by John Cena. Cena cuts a freestyle rap on Heyman and also mocks Booker T. Paul Heyman asks Cena is he done because he needs to talk. Heyman asked Vince that it would be way unfair if he was removed as GM. Paul brings up a few points when his stars disrespected him. First when Cena washed his mouth out with soap. Then he talks about the time when his stars walked out on him. Then he talks about the times when he was attacked by The Undertaker, Rhyno and Tajiri sprayed mist in his eyes. Heyman claims the big matches he’s given away on Smackdown are bigger than the matches Bischoff gives away on Raw. He talks about the draft and how he secured the biggest draft pick, he broke up Evolution and now Smackdown has HHH. Smackdown has some great matches lined up for SummerSlam, infact Smackdown has more matches than Raw. Heyman also thinks Smackdown’s WWE Title match is even bigger than Raw’s world title match. Heyman then talks about the stars that were misused on Raw and how they will make an impact here on Smackdown because this is the land of opportunity Vince fired Heyman a few years ago as Raw announcer and he begs Vince not to fire him again. Vince thinks Heyman has made some good points and he’s going to have to take that under consideration. Vince thanks everyone and tells Heyman he will make his decision in the ring after the next match.

Match 4
Chris Jericho vs Maven

The match begins with Jericho immediately kicking Maven to the gut and hits with with some lefts and rights. He sends him into the ropes and catches him with a reverse elbow. He goes for a suplex, Maven slips out and rolls him up for a 2 count. Maven then hits a dropkick and hits Jericho with some lefts and rights. Clothesline and follows up with another dropkick sending Jericho over the top rope. Jericho is back on the apron, Maven tries suplexing him back in but Jericho punches him in the face and gets a sunset flip on Maven and gets a 2 count. Jericho then beats the hell out of Maven and then misses a spinning heel kick. Maven goes up top and connects with a missile dropkick and gets 2 ½. So close. Maven whips Jericho into the turnbuckle but runs into an elbow by Jericho and Jericho hits Maven with a running insiguri. Jericho then locks in the walls of Jericho and Maven submits. Jericho wins but he refuses to let go and he finally lets go as the ref raises his hand in victory. Suddenly RVD runs down and goes up top, Jericho turns around and gets caught with a diving kick to the face. RVD then beats the hell out of Jericho and knocks him over the top rope with a roundhouse kick. Jericho retreats up the ramp as RVD gets a mic and tells Jericho that he’s a fighter, a survivor and he’s back to kick Jericho’s ass. He tells Jericho if he has the guts to come down right now and finish this. Jericho refuses to come back and gets booed heavily. Jericho taunts RVD and RVD does his signature taunt.
Winner: Chris Jericho
Backstage Rey Mysterio is with his family and Rey cuts a promo on HHH. Rey sends a strong message to HHH, warning him not to ever mess with his family again. Rey thinks HHH is a sore loser because he couldn’t accept the fact that he was eliminated last week in the gauntlet match and that’s why HHH cost him the chance of winning the gauntlet match. Rey promises to embarrass HHH again when they meet at SummerSlam.

Paul Heyman’s job evaluation and that special club
Vince McMahon is in the ring with Paul Heyman who’s out here with Dawn Marie. Vince tells Dawn not to worry about her job because it’s more than safe. Vince asks the fans should Paul Heyman still be in charge and they boo Heyman. Paul Heyman tells Vince not to listen to them. He believes he’s the right man for this job, a lot of people despise him but he’s shaken up Smackdown. Vince hired him to replace Stephanie McMahon and Heyman believes that he’s even done a much better job than Stephanie. Vince states that after listening to several members on the roster, the decision is very hard to make. He asks Paul how bad does he need this job and Heyman says very bad. He would do anything to keep his job. Vince says well If you cross the boss, you’d better pucker up and tells Heyman he is about to join a special club. Heyman knows where this is going so he cuts Vince off and refuses to join that special club. Heyman says he can’t do that. Vince says why can’t ya when others can. He remembers how Heyman once talked trash about him right infront of his face so now is a great time to get some payback on Heyman. He shouts at Heyman dammit join the Kiss my ass club. Heyman just can’t do it.

So Vince says Paul Heyman You’re….. Dawn Marie cuts him off and tells him to stop. She has a better idea. Instead of Paul Heyman kissing Vince’s ass, how about Vince joins her kiss my ass club. Heyman yells yes, even better. Vince has a big smile on his face and says I think this is one club people would be lined up for hours to join. Vince asks the fans who wants to join? Huge pop. Well Vince says none of you can, only one man can and that’s Vincent Kennedy McMahon. The crowd boos Vince. Dawn drops her skirt and Vince kisses her ass. Vince enjoys this and tells Heyman that he’s not going to fire him because Dawn just saved his job but since Heyman refused to listen to him, he’s placing Paul Heyman under probation. Vince states that next week he’s placing Dawn Marie temporarily in charge of Smackdown and gives Heyman next week off. Now when Heyman comes back he expects him to keep his show under control, he wants him to be a fair GM. He warns Heyman that he’s going to keep a close watch on him. He was in a firing mood tonight but Heyman is still on borrowed time. He expects Heyman to make a huge impression as GM or else. Vince leaves and Paul Heyman has to thank Dawn for saving his job but this doesn’t mean he’s still safe, he’s on probation.

Backstage in the parking lot, Heyman thanks Dawn Marie for saving his job. Heyman tells her he’s going to leave and he believes that Dawn will do a great job next week. Then when he returns, he will make Smackdown better than ever. Dawn tells him not to worry about next week, she has big plans. She announces the main event for next week. For the first time ever in WWE history we will see a Summer Games Relay match. It will be Team Rey Mysterio(Rey Mysterio, John Cena and RVD) vs Team HHH (HHH, Booker T and Chris Jericho) Heyman thinks that’s a great idea and wishes her luck as he leaves.

A Summer Games commercial is aired for SummerSlam. It features HHH knocking out his opponent in a javelin competition with his sledgehammer.

Main Event

Rey Mysterio comes down with his family who get seated in the front row. This was a great back and forth match with Rey outsmarting Booker at the start with his quick moves. Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

Again, hope to see Undertaker over the Dibiase ripoff.
Oh man, this feud has gotten personal real quick. I really do hope the HHH/Rey feud goes beyond SummerSlam one way or another. It can really help Rey get to the Main Event spot.
Akio with TEDDY! Whoa, did NOT see that coming.
Stacy and Torrie ripping into Paul is good. It makes sense considering what happened to them a few months back with Kane and Mordecai.
Nice announcement with the Cruiserweight division. Hopefully a worthy opponent for Chavo comes out.
UNDERTAKER!!! YES! ONE OF MY ALL TIME DREAM MATCHES! LATINO HEAT VS THE PHENOM! This is one that is also a big toss up. The Undertaker has been on the war path since GAB, yet Eddie has overcome the odds over and over again against many superstars. Also, if Eddie can go over the Undertaker CLEANLY without any of his tricks, he will truly certify himself as a legend cause the Undertaker has been shown to be nearly impossible to beat alone, especially since he is now at the height of his power, and is the measuring stick for many wrestlers. Their match should be nothing short of simply....PHENOMenal. :) sorry, had to say it.
Oh, poor Maven. Always underrated. But it adds to the RVD/Y2J feud.
Rey's promo was good, showing he is still the underdog and will hopefully give HHH one hell of a fight at SummerSlam.
YES! Rey goes over the game with aid from Cena.
Excellent show, although a few parts were lacking I guess some had to give. And now one final MEGA match in Eddie vs The Undertaker 1st Time Ever is added.
LATER!

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

HHH's segment to open up Smackdown really I think set the tone for your whole show in my opinion and in fact makes this feud with Rey seem more personal now and that their match at SummerSlam will truly be a classic but at the same time I can see it getting full on nasty and brutal

Stacy and Torrie lay into Heyman, I guess Heyman deserved it especially after what had happened to the both of them at the hands of Kane, Bearer and Mordecai and also Matt and Lita laying into Heyman while Val and Dawn show their support of Heyman and Vince telling all of them to shut up and leave the ring was classic Vince

Now it's going to be Val & Dawn vs Matt & Lita at SummerSlam, that's good

Akio's heel turn, that was classic, no one saw it coming, not even Funaki and then Teddy Long coming out to solidify his heel turn was awesome but at the same time I am looking forward now to an Akio/Funaki feud but with Teddy Long in Akio's corner, he is bound to ascend to the top

Finally Chavo gets himself some competition and the announcement about the division itself, I can't wait to see where that's headed

Undertaker beats JBL to become the new #1 Contender for the WWE Championship and their match is going to happen at SummerSlam, this is awesome, a dream match in the making but at the same time Eddie has beaten Taker in the past all be it in a Triple-Threat Match with himself, Taker, and Kane, but now it's 1 on 1, but Eddie has beaten the odds in the past turning away challenger after challenger but I think Eddie's reign is coming to an end at SummerSlam with Taker winning the belt

Heyman is on probation, this is great, that means one more screw-up, just even one and he's gone just like that at a moment's notice

Jericho in his 2nd match on Smackdown since becoming a member of the Smackdown roster because of the draft, Jericho beats Maven but then out of nowhere RVD comes out and attacks Jericho to really make their feud personal and I can't wait until SummerSlam, so then that way Jericho could take RVD out for good

Rey's promo nothing short of awesome here

And Rey beating Booker all be it by DQ because of HHH getting involved and attacking Rey along with Booker only for John Cena to make the save was awesome

And next week it is going to be a Team Rey vs Team HHH match just in time for SummerSlam

The Rock discusses his contract

The Rock’s music hits as he comes down and talks about HBK sticking his nose in his business last week so Rock returned the favour later on. Rock then has some fun by mocking HBK’s friends. He shows a long clip of him mocking X-Pac at Capital Carnage 98, followed by No Way Out 2002 when he mocked Diesel and Razor. The clip also features Shawn Michaels losing his smile. Rock mocks HBK by acting like him when he lost his smile. Fans start a Rocky chant. Rock says well he’s had some fun and now time to get serious. He tells the fans that he’s been here since 1996 and he’s done it all. He’s faced the best and beaten many of the best. Rock tells the fans that his contract is expiring with the WWE and after SummerSlam his contract expires and he has decided not to renew it. The fans don’t seem to like this but The Rock explains why.

Rock talks about how great stars like Steve Austin and Mick Foley retired at the right time but guys like Shawn Michaels still wants to hog the spotlight, he still wants to steal peoples thunder. The Rock says he’s not selfish. Since he’s done it all and there is nothing else for him to achieve, he feels it is time to give the younger guys the chance. Rock says he is ready for a new challenge because he wants to focus on his Hollywood career for right now but this doesn't mean that The Rock is leaving forever. Rock says after SummerSlam he is just taking a break from WWE to work on movies. Rock makes a promise to the fans that he will still be in the WWE but that he won't be here on a full-time basis or in a full-time capacity. However he will pop up every now and then when you least expect him to, and he will still be whooping that roody poo candy ass all be it on the big screen. He promises that when he comes back to the WWE, he will come back better than he ever was before. He will come back as the jabroni beating, pie eating, eyebrow raisin, trailblazin, best in the past, the present and the future, The peoples champion The Rock. Rock promises to come back home to the people to once again become the People's Champion, but first he’s gonna whoop HBK’s candy ass at SummerSlam by putting on a show of a lifetime. If ya smelllll what The Rock is cooking. Rock then leaves to a great ovation.

Backstage Eric Bischoff and Coach laugh at Eugene’s chances in the huge ladder match at SummerSlam. Coach asks Eric does Eugene even know the rules of a ladder match? Eric says he doesn’t care whether Eugene knows the rules but he thinks Eugene is going to get hurt real bad in the ladder match. Since It’s everyman for himself, who knows Regal could even beat the hell out of Eugene. Bischoff and Coach start laughing.

Match 1
Kurt Angle and Tajiri vs Edge and Rhyno
This was a great back and forth contest with lots of near falls. Tajiri tries for the Tarantula but gets dumped to the outside. Trish starts getting some cheapshots on Tajiri while Edge distracts the referee. Tajiri is now back in as Edge and Rhyno exchange tags and work on Tajiri in the corner. Edge starts hammering away at Tajiri and then taunts Angle. Edge then gets a flapjack on Tajiri. He tries a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker but Tajiri reverses it in midair into an armbar. Great counter and then Tajiri starts kicking away at Edge. He goes for a hurracanrana which Edge counters into a powerbomb and gets 2 ½. He tags Rhyno in and Rhyno sends Tajiri into the turnbuckle and runs into a boot, spinkick by Tajiri and gets a 2 count. He tags in Angle who hits Rhyno with a clothesline. Kurt delivers a suplex and gets a 2 count. Rhyno then gains control when Edge pulls down the bottom rope and Angle falls to the outside. Angle setting him up for the Angle slam, Edge slips out and Rhyno comes in and gores Angle. Tajiri comes charging in at Edge and Rhyno as they elevate Tajiri over the top rope. Angle now staggers back to his feet and Edge hits the spear and gets a 3 count to pick up the win. Edge and Rhyno celebrate their win up the ramp with Trish.
Winners: Edge and Rhyno
Todd Grisham interviews Ric Flair and Batista. Flair thinks it would be a joke if Eugene ever wears gold in the WWE and it’s certainly not going to happen tonight. Evolution are the best team in this tournament and always the best win. Batista says Evolution have been tag team champions before and they’re going to win the belts again. Tonight is the start of Evolution bringing back all the gold and it starts with the tag team titles.

Match 2
Mark Jindrak vs Rosey
Rosey is already in the ring as Coach comes down with his protégé Mark Jindrak. Rosey gets the upper hand at the start by using his power throwing Jindrak around the ring. He whips Jindrak into the corner and comes charging at Jindrak but Jindrak hits a low dropkick right on the knee of Rosey. Smart move there by Mark. Now Jindrak starts going to work on Rosey hitting him with some lefts and rights. Rosey reverses a whip and gets a backdrop on Jindrak. Rosey up top and he’s gonna fly but Jindrak stops him with a super high dropkick knocking Rosey off the top rope. Jindrak kills some time by doing some push ups. Rosey rolls back in with Jindrak hitting the boots on the big man. Rosey reverses a whip and sends Jindrak into the turnbuckle and comes charging at him and squashes him in the corner. Rosey then hits a sidewalk slam. That’s gotta be it but wait Coach gets on the apron. Rosey tries getting his hands on Coach but Jindrak gets a cheapshot from behind and he lifts the big Rosey and drops him with the Mark of Excellence. Now that’s impressive. 1..2.3. Jindrak celebrates his impressive win in the ring with Coach.
Winner: Mark Jindrak

Backstage Todd Grisham gets a word with Shawn Michaels. HBK sarcastically gets emotional over how he will miss The Rock. He tells Todd that tonight he has a special surprise for The Rock regarding their match at SummerSlam.

You tapped Out!!
Randy Orton’s music hits as he comes down alone to the ring and brags about pinning Chris Benoit last week. He thinks that the result will be the same at SummerSlam when he ends his reign and becomes the youngest heavyweight champion. Orton shows footage of his major victories this year which includes his wins at WrestleMania 20, Orton ending Mick Foley’s career, Orton winning King of the Ring and Orton defeating The Rock. He then shows a clip of beating Benoit last week in the 6 man tag match. Orton does his pose in the ring and gets interrupted by Chris Benoit. Benoit decides to show some footage of his own. The first clip is Orton and Benoit starting off the Royal Rumble this year, while Orton went on to get eliminated, Benoit went on to win the Royal Rumble. He went all the way and at WrestleMania he beat Orton’s mentor HHH. He shows Orton a clip of Orton losing the Intercontinental title. Benoit starts laughing.

Orton fires back and claims that he’s the Evolution of this business. He asks Benoit, what the hell did he achieve at the age of 24, absolutely nothing. At that age, he was struggling to make a career in this business and Orton then starts boasting about his achievements at the age of 24. Orton tells Benoit that he’s yet to even lose a one on one match at a ppv this year and will continue that perfect record into SummerSlam. Benoit fires back and states that even he’s not lost this year on ppv, if you look at his matches the matches he’s been involved in were more bigger and more important than Orton’s. Jim Ross states that Benoit does have a major point here. Benoit states that if Orton wants to prove he’s the best here then he’s gotta prove him wrong. Tonight he’s going in there against the 7ft monster Kane and he’s going to make Kane tap, just like he’s going to make Orton tap out at SummerSlam. Orton gets a cheapshot on Benoit and goes for the RKO, Benoit counters into a crossface and Orton starts tapping out. Benoit then lets go as his music plays, He raises his belt in Orton’s face while Orton is down on the mat screaming with pain. Benoit starts smiling up the ramp as Orton gets up and stares him down and Benoit does his cut throat signal and leaves.

Backstage Charlie Haas meets Tajiri in the hallway. He eminds Tajiri that the last time him and Tajiri competed in a ladder match was against each other in a tag match and Tajiri became tag team champion. Haas believes that he will become Intercontinental champion at SummerSlam, may the best man win. They shake hands and Tajiri walks on and bumps into Gail Kim. He wishes Gail Kim good luck on her match and then asks her out on a date. Gail tells him she’d love to go out with him. Tajiri seems excited and he’s a lucky man.

Another unique move we have seen for the first time by Gail as she retains the title. Great hard fought victory for Gail Kim while the cameras cut backstage as Victoria watches on the monitor. Victoria has yet to receive her rematch and back in the ring Gail celebrates her win. Could Victoria be next in line for a title shot?
Winner: Gail Kim

Regal says they have never won the tag team titles together as a team but Regal has been a former tag team champion. He has tag team experience. They are the underdogs going into their match. He tells Eugene to focus because this will be a very tough match and reminds Eugene what Batista did to him at Vengeance. Eugene then starts talking about all the legendary tag teams that he was a fan of such as The Road Warriors and Demolition. Now it’s his time to become tag team champion.

While Flair chops away at Eugene in the corner. Tajiri runs down and gets on the apron, Flair goes for a right hand on Tajiri but Tajiri sprays mist in Flair’s eyes and this allows Eugene to hit the stone cold stunner on Flair. He covers and the ref recovers in time to make the 3 count. What a huge upset as Eugene and Regal receive a huge ovation as they have won the tag team titles. Tajiri goes outside to grab the tag team titles and hands them over to Regal and Eugene. Benoit and Tajiri congratulate Regal and Eugene as Eugene wins his first title in the WWE. This is the 3rd week Tajiri has sprayed mist on an Evolution member, first Orton, last week Batista and now Flair. Orton complains about what Benoit did earlier on and what he just did right now. Orton says it was not only his destiny to become champion, it was Evolution’s destiny to have all the gold by SummerSlam. Bischoff announced a big 8 man elimination match next week between all the stars that are competing in the ladder match. It will be Evolution, Rhyno and Kane vs Eugene, Regal, Tajiri and Charlie Haas.

Shawn Michaels and an unpopular referee
Shawn Michaels comes down and proclaims that The Rock is taking the cowards way out because Rock clearly knows that he is going to get completely over shadowed by The Heart Break Kid. That’s what HBK is all about, stealing the show. Michaels claims that he will be the man responsible for running Rock out of the WWE in a humiliating way in Rock’s last match. HBK then talks about Survivor Series 97 and brings out Earl Hebner. Michaels brings up the similarities from that match and his match with The Rock. It’s in Canada, it’s also Rock’s last match. Earl Hebner believes that he is the right man to call this match down the middle and he volunteers to be the referee for this match. He gets booed and fans start a “you screwed Bret chant” and Earl says screw you all. Earl says for many years him, HBK and Vince got the heat from the Canadian fans for the Montreal screwjob but Earl says he got the worst of it. The fans still haven’t forgiven him, it’s been 7 years when they should have moved on. He does not deserve to be treated like this at all. Michaels agreed. Michaels says Rock earlier on said he will eventually be back at some point to give fans some memories. Well that’s not going to happen. If you don’t believe him, ask Canada’s own Bret the Hitman Hart. It’s been 7 years since he suffered his biggest humiliation ever and yet he’s never come back. It’s fitting how Bret’s last match ended in humiliation and how Rock’s last match will also end in humiliation in the same country that he humiliated Bret Hart. HBK claims that Rock won’t be getting that farewell that he wants. After he gets humiliated he wouldn’t want to come back. All these guys have come and gone yet HBK is still here and he’s still the man. Michaels shows footage from Survivor Series 97 in Montreal.

The Rock’s music hits as Rock comes down to confront HBK. The Rock tells HBK that their match will certainly decide who is the best. Since they have accomplished so much in this business and beaten many of the all time greats, their match has now become even bigger. Rock goes over his accomplishments in this business. He’s sold out more arenas than Shawn, headlined more WrestleManias than Shawn, won more heavyweight titles than Shawn. Rock became champion at the age of 26, it took him 2 years to become WWE Champion while it took Shawn many years. While HBK comes out for himself to hog all the glory, The Rock comes out here for the people. He’s here to entertain the millions and millions of The Rock’s fans.

Rock then looks at Earl Hebner and tells Earl that he can’t be trusted. Earl promised and swore by his children that he would never double-cross Bret Hart but Earl simply did not live up to his words. Rock then mocked Earl and warned Earl that if he ends up refeering the match and does not call it down the middle then The Rock will give him the biggest brahma bull ass whooping in a life time. Earl complains and demands respect from Rock and Rock cuts him off with his It doesn’t matter line. Rock tells Shawn since Canada doesn’t like him, HBK will hear the people chanting the Rock’s name. Rocky, Rocky Rocky whoop your ass all over Toronto. Michaels gets in Rock’s face and says despite Rock’s accolades, Rock has never faced someone like HBK. There is nothing about Rock or his life that he desires. He starts pointing at Rock’s chest and tells Rock that Rock will never ever be as good as HBK. Rock starts hitting HBK with some right hands and knocks Michaels over the top rope. Rock then hits Earl Hebner with a Rock Bottom. He takes his elbow pad off and hits the peoples elbow which gets a huge pop. HBK backs up the ramp and Rock tells him just bring it. The Rock’s music hits and Rock just laid the Smackdown on Earl Hebner.

Eugene and Regal are celebrating backstage in the hallway as Trish looks on and so does Coach. They go into Bischoff’s office and Eugene hugs Bischoff. Eugene then pours champagne all over Bischoff and Bischoff is furious.

Main Event
Non Title No Disqualification Match
Chris Benoit vs Kane

The big red machine is on a roll after he beat Shawn Michaels last week and this could be Benoit’s toughest match since he became champion. Jerry Lawler thinks if this match was for the title then we could have possibly had a new champion but Randy Orton told Eric Bischoff not to make this for the title. This was probably the best match of Kane’s career as he put on a great performance against the rabid wolverine Chris Benoit. Kane took control at the start of the match giving Benoit a beating at the start. He whips Benoit off the ropes, baseball slide by Benoit who then hits a low drop kick to the knees of Kane sending the big man down. Benoit then hits some reverse knife edge chops to the chest of Kane. Kane fights back with a kick to the gut and then hits a clothesline and gets a 2 count. Kane gets a headlock on Benoit, Benoit gets out of it and bounces off the ropes but gets caught with a big boot right to the face and Kane gets a 2 count. Kane then goes up top and hits a flying clothesline and gets a near fall. Kane goes for a charge, Benoit ducks and sends Kane over the top rope. They brawl outside and Kane hits an uppercut on Benoit. He drops Benoit on the guard rail and Benoit is now starting to bleed. Midway into the match, Kane still in control delivers a sidewalk slam and gets a near fall. He sets up for the chokeslam but Benoit counters it into the crossface. Kane tries reaching for the ropes but instead he lifts Benoit up, awesome power here from Kane and slams him down to the mat. Great counter. Kane rises up and throws Benoit outside the ring.

Kane then chokeslams Benoit through the table and Benoit is out. Kane starts smiling and then sends Benoit back in and goes for a pin and Benoit gets his foot on the ropes at 2. Kane can’t believe it. Kane tries a powerslam, Benoit slips out and gives Kane three german suplexes in a row. Benoit goes up top and connects with the diving headbutt. He goes for a pin but Kane gets his shoulder up at 2. Benoit tries going for the sharpshooter but Kane kicks him right in the face. Kane gets back up and goes for a chokeslam but Benoit kicks Kane low and drops him with a DDT. He goes for a pin and gets a near fall. Benoit then goes for a sharpshooter again and turns Kane over. Will Kane tap. Kane desperately trying to reach the ropes and he does. Benoit goes for a german suplex, Kane elbows him in the face and hits a sidewalk slam and gets a near fall. Kane goes for a tombstone, Benoit slips out and puts Kane in the crossface. He’s going to tap but Kane starts getting up to his feet trying to break out of the hold and tries lifting Benoit on his shoulders but Benoit gets behind him and puts the crossface on him again. Kane tries fighting it but this time he taps. Benoit wins. The cameras cut backstage with Orton and Bischoff watching on the monitor. Orton was angry that Benoit won. Eric tells Orton that next week he’s going to test Benoit again because he will face Kurt Angle. Back in the ring Benoit celebrates his win and holds up the world heavyweight title as Raw goes off the air.

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

And here we go!

Nice to see Rock explaining to the people why he's leaving, for now at least. Also hilarious to see him tear into HBK, especially the infamous 'lost my smile' promo. Hopefully he does win at Summerslam.
The duo be pricks, not surprising.
And Edge FINALLY wins a fight after countless ass kickings as they go into his hometown. Does this mean Tajiri is building up a feud with Rhyno?
Ugh, hope they don't win to ignore the 'blah blah hold all the gold' that's already been done.
And Jindrak continues his climb with another win.
Wonder what Michaels has in mind?
As always, here comes Orton to mouth off his accomplishments. Now here's Benoit, who has a point. 2004 has truly been an amazing year for both men, now at the top of the show. Benoit is a dominant World Champ while Orton is King of the Ring. Orton now learns he better either be prepared for the fight of his life or learn just why Chris is called 'The Crippler.'
Nice women's match up. Hmmm, is this a sign of Victoria heel turn? Hope not, cause it would detract from what looks like the coming Tajriri/Gail vs Rhyno/Trish feud.
YES YES YES! NO GOLD FOR EVOLUTION! Man's tonight's not turning out to be their night. Tajiri appears again to help his old friend Regal and Benoit helps to cost the group the tag titles.
And Eric once again shows that he's nothing more than Evolution's lapdog.
HEEL HEBNER! It would make sense cause their in Canada where he's....well, not liked that much. And Rock comes out and whoops ass. Now this is a real interesting angle cause it looks like Earl might screw Rock. Hope not though cause Rock deserves this final win.
Looks like he's not such a 'screw up' now huh Eric?
OH MAN! Now THIS was a war! Benoit wins, but Kane still looks like a monster considering he put Raw's top dog through a table and busted him open. Well, this is truly NOT Evolutions night.
ANGLE/BENOIT! Chris's greatest rival ever returns and hopefully one of them makes a comment like 'they came a long way since WM16' or something.

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

Rock cutting his promo about why he's leaving at least for now was handled beautifully but also it was really funny seeing Rock go one better doing impressions of HBK basically making fun of him especially by re-inacting that "I lost my smile" promo and Rock winning at SummerSlam is not out of the realm of possibility, and I for one hope Rock wins so that way HBK can finally shut up

Edge winning a match finally and cleanly too, now he can pick up momentum heading into SummerSlam which will be in his hometown of Toronto and as for Rhyno/Tajiri their feud I think has just started considering the 2 of them are in the 8-man Ladder Match for the IC Title

If anything Evolution I see them winning the Tag Titles back, this is their night

Mark Jindrak wins another match, so far since coming on to RAW re-debuting of sorts, and he has won 2 matches in a row, I see big things for this man in his future, that's for sure

I wonder what type of surprise HBK has in mind for their match at SummerSlam, personally I see him trying to pull another screwjob since he has Earl Hebner in his back pocket, I wonder what's next, nothing he does will really surprise me now

Orton/Benoit promo was awesome as it really builds up towards their match at SummerSlam in the main event for the World Heavyweight Championship, and since 2004 has been big for both of these men, who I think will be the one who will take that next step towards solidifying themselves, this year I see it being Orton winning the belt at SummerSlam making history becoming the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in history

Gail Kim beating Molly Holly yet again, like is there anyone who Gail hasn't faced yet? Victoria I see her turning heel for some reason, I don't know why but I just see it happening, and as for feuds too I can see it sort of happening like Tajiri & Gail Kim feuding with Trish & Rhyno

Eugene & Regal becoming the new World Tag Team Champions, Eugene winning his first title in WWE by becoming a Tag Team Champion with Regal but I see it not lasting long, I see Evolution Flair & Batista winning the titles back at some point

Eric Bischoff just showing me why he is abusing his power playing favorites with Evolution

Earl Hebner being a heel, I could understand that since the PPV is going to be in Canada and not only that but the Canadian fans everywhere have still not forgiven him for Montreal, and I love how The Rock basically disrespected not just HBK but Earl Hebner too layeth the smacketh down straight up on his rudy pooooooooooooooooo candy ass, if ya smelllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll what The Rock is cookin' but I think HBK has the advantage going into SummerSlam

Benoit beats Kane in a really grueling, tough match-up

And next week it is going to be Angle vs Benoit, a rivalry renewed, the last time they faced off was Royal Rumble 2003, one of the greatest match-ups ever

Re: WWE 2004: Road to WrestleMania XX

and maybe have Triple H turn face and confront Paul Heyman about his betrayal. i can see the match between Undertaker and Eddie Guerrero be a no holds barred match. i can see Paul Heyman interefering at the end and shoving Eddie when he attempts a frog splash on The Undertaker. and Eddie chases after Heyman and it goes in the ring where Taker catches Eddie and surprises him with a Tombstone. Taker will go for the cover but Eddie will kick out. Heyman will take a chair and Undertaker will catch him and grab him by the throat. he will then pull Heyman into the buckle and grab the Chair with a smile and Taker will smash Guerrero's skull with it. and Undertaker will hit him a few times. and Taker pins Guerrero 1.2.3. Undertaker's the new Champion. Undertaker will then shake hands with Heyman while Michael Cole will scream "damn it Undertaker was in cahoots with Paul Heyman all along".

WWE Smackdown
August 5, 2004
Smackdown begins with Dawn Marie backstage with Val Venis. They welcome the fans to Smackdown. Tonight Dawn is in charge and she promises the fans that tonight’s show will indeed be very memorable and Val has a huge surprise planned for tonight. The Smackdown video package plays as the announcers welcome us to the show.

The Undertaker playing mind games with Eddie Guerrero
Eddie Guerrero’s music hits as the WWE Champion comes down to the ring and tells the fans that a lot of guys in the locker room have been telling him that his time as champion is coming soon to an end. That is what they think but Eddie asks the fans who they think will win at SummerSlam. The crowd is split 50/50. Eddie says he’s heard all of his challengers tell him that his time as champion will come to an end but Latino Heat continues to overcame obstacles and proves time and time again that he is a great champion, so what makes The Undertaker any different than the guys he has defeated? Suddenly The Undertaker appears on the screen. Undertaker sends a message to Eddie Guerrero. Many men have come and stepped in the ring with The Phenom and tried to make a name at the Undertaker’s expense. The result was that all these men have never been the same again. While Kane is living in fear on Raw, it was the right decision for him to stay away from The Undertaker and be on a different brand. Undertaker states that Eddie Guerrero was lucky to escape with the title at Judgment Day but this time at SummerSlam it’s one on one. Lying cheating and stealing will not help Eddie in any way shape or form because he senses something in Eddie. He senses something in Eddie that he hasn't seen in a while and it isn't that same cockiness and that feeling Eddie has in the pit of his stomach is fear. At SummerSlam he will prey on that fear and once again become WWE Champion. Victory is his destiny because Eddie’s fate will be sealed at SummerSlam.
The screen goes blank and Eddie gets pissed off and fired up and says Undertaker may be the master of mindgames but Latino Heat isn’t that far behind either. He always has some tricks up his sleeve and he will do whatever it takes to win even if it means lying cheating and stealing then so be it. Suddenly the lights go out and now they are back on and The Undertaker is in the ring and a stunned Eddie Guerrero drops the mic. Undertaker gets the mic and tells Eddie that his mouth says one thing but his eyes say something else. Eddie may be a great champion but all great things must come to an end and at SummerSlam, The Undertaker has one goal. He’s set his sights on the prize he desires which Eddie has and that’s the WWE Title. The way how he sees it, it’s his time now to once again reign supreme and Eddie is just another victim. Undertaker does his cut throat signal and Dawn Marie comes out on the stage and informs Undertaker and Eddie Guerrero that tonight they will be teaming up and they will face JBL and the future of Smackdown, Rene Dupree. Dawn leaves and then the lights go out and then they are back on and The Undertaker has disappeared again. Eddie rolls out of the ring and you can see the look of concern on Latino Heat’s face.

Match 1
# 1 Contenders Tag Team Match
The Dudleys vs The Hurricane and Shannon Moore

Back in the ring The Dudleys celebrate their win and they will receive a future tag team title shot against the tag team champions.
Winners: The Dudleys
Booker T is standing by with Josh Matthews. Footage is shown from earlier this week where Booker T ran into some John Cena fans. He mocked them and cut a freestyle rap on them. Booker then starts laughing. He tells Josh that Cena doesn’t know jack about what thug life is because Booker T is the one who had a hard life. He’s been through a lot and got to the top because he worked hard unlike Cena who didn’t pay his dues. Booker thinks Cena can’t rap, a guy like Cena thinks he’s a thug but he’s nothing more than a Booker T wannabe. Cena representing Smackdown as the US Champ is a disgrace. Booker claims that he can rap better than Cena and he challenges Cena to a freestyle rap contest next week. Booker vows to expose Cena for the phony that he is and tonight in the relay match he’s going to whoop Cena’s ass now can you dig that sucka!

Match 2
#1 Contenders Cruiserweight Tournament 1st Round
Jimmy Yang vs Funaki
Teddy Long comes down with his new protégé Jimmy Yang who was formally known as Akio. Funaki then comes down running to the ring and the bell rings and Funaki starts hammering away at Yang and then Funaki hits a dropkick and gets a 2 count. Funaki then comes charging into Yang and Yang counters with an overhead belly to belly suplex. He whips Funaki into the corner and hits him with a corner rolling wheel kick. Yang goes for a powerbomb, Funaki slips out and hits a bulldog and gets a 2 count. He goes up to and gets a diving crossbody on Yang and gets a near fall. Yang reverses a whip and sends Funaki face first into the turnbuckle and follows up with a corner backflip kick. Yang in control here until Funaki gets a springboard crossbody on Yang and gets a near fall. He whips Yang into the turnbuckle. Funaki comes charging in but gets caught with a reverse elbow to the face which staggers Funaki. Yang goes up top and hits the Yang Time(Standing Moonsault) and pins Funaki for the 3 count to advance to the Semi Finals. Now that is impressive. Long gets in the ring to celebrate with Yang but wait a minute it looks like Yang isn’t done yet. He puts Funaki in the corner and gets a hanging figure four necklock on him. The ref starts counting and Yang releases the hold at 3. Yang celebrates with Long as the cruiserweight tournament gets off to a great start.
Winner: Jimmy Yang

Backstage Chavo Guerrero was watching the match on the monitor and Dawn Marie comes in Chavo’s locker room. She informs him that next week she’s decided that Chavo will not face Funaki. Instead next week in a non title match he will face a former cruiserweight who was one of his biggest rivals and that’s Rey Mysterio.

Josh Matthews interviews Matt Hardy backstage. Matt says Val will suffer a lethal dose of Mattitude tonight but suddenly Hardy gets jumped by Val Venis. Val ambushes Hardy and Hardy is busted wide open until referees pull Val away. Val yells you’re the one who’s just suffered the twist of fate. What a vicious assault from Venis and Hardy is hurt quite bad and Val enjoys what he just did.

Match 3
Eddie Guerrero and The Undertaker vs JBL and Rene Dupree

Eddie Guerrero and Rene Dupree start off first with Eddie in control at the start working on Dupree’s arm. He sends Dupree into the ropes and gets a hurracanrana takedown. Eddie then bounces off the ropes and Dupree catches him with a spinebuster. He then does the French tickler and hits a knee drop and gets a 2 count. He tags JBL who starts hitting Eddie with some clubbing blows to the back. JBL goes for a suplex, Eddie slips out and rolls JBL up for a 2 count. Eddie sends JBL into the corner and hits him with some lefts and rights and tags in The Undertaker who starts hammering away at JBL. JBL rolls out of the ring, Taker follows but JBL gets back in starts stomping away at The Undertaker. He sends Taker into the ropes and Taker counters with a flying clothesline and gets a 2 count. He tags Eddie Guerrero. Midway into the match, JBL and Dupree take control as they exchange quick tags as Eddie Guerrero takes a beating. Eddie avoids a charge from JBL who goes face first into the turnbuckle. Eddie makes the hot tag on The Undertaker who comes in and hits snake eyes on JBL and follows up with a legdrop. Rene Dupree gets a cheapshot on The Undertaker and JBL hits the clothesline from hell and goes for the pin and gets a 2 count.

JBL can’t believe it and he argues with the ref and suddenly JBL gets a cheapshot on Eddie knocking Eddie to the floor. Taker sits up, JBL freaks out and goes outside the ring. Taker tries going after JBL but Dupree gets in and starts hiting Taker with lefts and rights but Taker fights him off. JBL pulls a chair under the ring and rams Taker with a chair to the gut and the ref calls for the bell. JBL tries hitting Taker with a chair again but Taker boots JBL in the face. Taker sets JBL up for the last ride and Eddie in an attempt to hit Dupree with a chair swung a chair at Dupree who ducked and Eddie accidently hits The Undertaker. Uh oh Eddie’s in trouble but suddenly Eddie tossed the chair to Dupree as The Phenom recovered and Eddie’s gone down playing possum to act as if he’s been smacked with the chair as well. Dupree pleads with The Undertaker that it wasn’t him who did it and The Undertaker assumed that it was Dupree so he grabs Dupree by the throat and chokeslams Dupree while JBL backs up the ramp looking on in fear. The Undertaker’s music hits as he brings Eddie back to his feet and Eddie acting that he’s hurt with Undertaker still unaware that Eddie had actually hit him in the first place. Taker gives him an evil look. He rolls his eyes back and motions for the title and then does the cut throat signal. Undertaker sending a message to Eddie that the end is near.
Winners by disqualification Eddie Guerrero and The Undertaker
Backstage Josh Matthews is in the back with Dawn Marie, Rey Mysterio and HHH. Dawn tells them that they are here to conduct a coin toss so she doesn’t want any trouble. HHH wins the coin toss and but HHH starts talking trash about Mysterio. HHH claims that he’s going to make an example out of Rey at SummerSlam, he’s wrestled a lot of guys and proved to them that he’s that damn good but Rey will be his easiest challenge. Guys like Rey are too small to be champion, does Rey have any idea what it’s like to be the heavyweight champion? HHH boasts about the number of ex WCW guys he’s humiliated and beating Rey will just be a simple task. Rey responds back and tells HHH that a lot of guys make fun of Rey’s size but size does not matter. He is not only a giant killer, he is a future champion. HHH starts laughing and Rey tells HHH he can laugh all he wants but it will be him that will have the last laugh when he humiliates HHH. HHH says we will see about that and the game walks off.

Match 4
Val Venis vs Matt Hardy

Val Venis comes down to the ring and takes the mic and says he hasn’t done this in a long time so he says HELLO LADIES!!! Val waits for Hardy to come down but Hardy doesn’t come down so Val demands that the referee declare him the winner so Val wins this match via forfeit. Val says he knew Hardy wouldn’t come down and why would he after the beating he just gave him earlier on. Matt Hardy claimed that he was going to give the big Valbowski a lethal dose of Mattitude but Matt Hardy has no substance. Val says he’s all man and Matt Hardy can't rise to the occasion even if he tried. The big Valbowski’s had more women than Hardy’s ever had in his life.
Winner via forfeit: Val Venis

Val reveals Lita’s past
Val then mentions that he promised a big surprise tonight and since he is still the Big Valbowski, he still loves to have fun and his way of fun is making adult films because he was an adult film star before he even came here to the WWE. As soon as he got here to the WWE he made an instant impact. Then he hit a downward spiral this year when the women here turned on him for the younger guys but the only woman who didn't turn on him was Dawn Marie. She saw something in him that no one else did and that is potential, huge potential. Val laughs. With Dawn Marie he has shown her that he has what it takes unlike Matt Hardy who doesn't have what it takes at all, and that if he couldn't please Lita, what makes him think he could please Dawn Marie in the bedroom? Val then brings up the fact of Matt dumping Lita last year and now he’s back with her. Since Lita has come to Smackdown her life has been one train wreck after another. Now if she leaves Matt to be with a real man, the big Valbowski, she will never ever be disappointed. She may as well forget about the lethal dose of Mattitude, she may as well have a lethal dose of the money…Val stops and laughs and doesn’t finish his line but we all know that Val is clearly talking about the name of his finishing move. Eww!!!

This brings him to his next point, he’s starting his very own adult film company and shows footage of his previous work. Clips are shown of Val’s flings with Terri Runnels, Mrs Yamaguchi Son and Ryan Shamrock. Val thinks that Lita would be a perfect actress for his next adult film and he promises a preview of his latest movie next week which will be starring Lita. This brings Lita down and Lita seems disgusted. Val offers Lita the chance to be his next XXX actress. Lita calls Val a coward for attacking Matt from behind and when Matt returns next week Val will get what’s coming to him. Lita then tells Val that she’s not cheap, she’s got class and she would never go for a guy like Val. Val calls her a hypocrite because infact he took her for a ride on the Hooooooo Train. Val exposes Lita for the real truth by showing a clip of Lita’s actual WWE debut when she debuted as one of the Godfather’s Hoes.

Val says he knew Lita way before Matt knew her and he had a fun time on the Ho Train and he would love to have that fun again. He knows Lita would love to do this again because she knows that the big Valbowski has a lot of ammunition in his cannon. She knows that Val can satisfy her more than Hardy ever could. Val is going way too far here. He sets the bar high and tells her how about at SummerSlam, if him and Dawn win, he gets to sleep with Lita again. Or maybe a monage et trios? Him, Lita and Dawn. Lita seems disgusted and Val says come on he’s the real deal all natural. Val tells Lita, you wrap your legs around this rocket and you will be sure to be shot right into orbit. Lita slaps Val across the face but Val actually likes it and but grabs Lita by the hair and kisses her. Fans start a Hardy chant but Hardy doesn’t come out because he’s hurt. Lita starts crying in the ring and Val licks his lips and tells her to think about it. Val then does his hip swivel taunt as Lita looks on in disgust. Val leaves to huge heat.
Backstage Dawn Marie receives a call from Paul Heyman and Dawn proposes a tag match between Eddie Guerrero and John Cena vs The Undertaker and Booker T for next week. A preview for SummerSlam. Heyman thinks it’s a great idea and he can’t wait to return next week.

Meanwhile Eddie Guerrero goes to the parking lot as he is about to leave. Eddie starts his low rider but it isn’t starting. Eddie gets out of the low rider to check what the problem is and suddenly the lights go out and they are back on and Eddie notices the low rider moving and no one is driving it. The low rider stops and Eddie over to his his low rider and suddenly the tape player starts playing The Undertaker’s theme so a disturbed Eddie Guerrero moves away and walks off. Tazz and Michael Cole are like what the hell is going on here.

Michael Cole points out that Team HHH is a team of decorated stars, they have held so many championships, they are all former heavyweight champions while all members of Team Mysterio have never held the WWE Title.
It looks like a change of strategy from both team captains because now Rey Mysterio will start off against Chris Jericho. This is the first time they will be stepping in the ring against each other in the WWE and they had a great rivalry in WCW. Cole also makes the correction that it’s Team HHH and Mysterio, not Team Booker or Cena. Tazz says who cares who the captain is, they are all great superstars. The countdown begins with 15 seconds to go as Cena tries the F-U but HHH counters with a DDT and both men are down as the time limit expires. Booker sets up for the scissors kick, he goes for it, Cena ducks and lifts Booker up for the F-U and hits it. Cena goes for the cover and HHH puts Booker’s foot on the ropes. Oh come on and now the time limit expires. Mysterio tries going after HHH but the second referee restrains Mysterio and now RVD comes in as we now go into the 5th period. Former partners RVD and Booker T going at it. RVD starts taking it to Booker and whips him off the ropes and nails him with a spinning heel kick and gets a 2 count.
