Backstage Paul Heyman was watching Smackdownís opening match on the monitor and Eric Bischoff walks in. Heyman tells Bischoff now thatís what you call a great way to kick off this event. He received one of Rawís biggest draft picks Chris Jericho and there is still HHH later on in action. Smackdown is #1. Bischoff laughs and tells Paul to enjoy this while it lasts because Paul is on probation. Eric made fun of Paul because he doesnít think Heyman will even be around at the next joint brand ppv. Eric tells Paul to take note of the next match because it will be even more extreme than any of Heymanís ECW matches combined.

Back at ringside there were ladders set up all around the ring and there you see the Intercontinental Title hanging high above the ring as we are ready for our next match.

Intercontinental Title 8 Man Ladder Match
Tajiri © vs Batista vs Ric Flair vs William Regal vs Eugene vs Kane vs Rhyno vs Charlie Haas

Evolutionís music hits as Batista and Ric Flair come down together to huge heat. It will be every man for himself in this match. They were followed by Charlie Haas who comes down next. The tag team champions William Regal and Eugene come down together next to a great pop. There will be a time where these two champs will turn on each other, too much at stake here. Rhyno comes down with Trish, Rhyno getting a great reaction here mainly because of Torontoís own Trish Stratus. It may be wise for Trish to stay in the back since sheís carrying an injury and to be at ringside for such a dangerous match isnít a wise idea. The referee immediately ejects her from ringside and the Canadian fans donít like this at all. Itís for her own safety. The Intercontinental Champion Tajiri is out next to a great pop. This is the biggest match of his career and his chances donít look good at all. However he does have previous ladder match experience. Tajiri laughs at Trish up the ramp as Trish leaves. Finally Kane comes down to the ring and a staredown to start as they all look at the Intercontinental title. Thereís only one rule and that rule is to be able to climb the ladder and retrieve the title. Lawler says but does poor Eugene even understand the rules? Ross says he may not be a quick learner but heíll certainly pick up. The bell rings and immediately Tajiri goes to the outside as he tries to bring a ladder into the ring but gets stopped by Rhyno. Everyone hits the floor to brawl so Charlie Haas comes off the top with a crossbody taking out Kane, Batista, Rhyno, Tajiri and Regal. Ric Flair brings a ladder into the ring and tries climbing it but gets stopped by Eugene. They start brawling and Eugene knocks Flair down with a dropkick. Batista gets in to save Flair and now Regal gets in the ring and all four men are brawling and the fight spills to the floor. Tajiri is now in the ring and he has a ladder with him and he climbs the top rope and hits a moonsault with a ladder taking out Regal, Eugene, Batista and Flair and including himself. Now Rhyno and Haas fight it out in the ring. Rhyno gets a ladder and tries climbing the ladder but Haas knocks him off. Now Haas tries climbing only for Kane to knock him off. Eugene goes up top for an axe handle but Kane catches him in mid air with a big right hand.

Rhyno ducks a ladder charge from Kane as Kane goes into the turnbuckle and Rhyno hits him with a gore. Look out Batista drops Rhyno with a spinebuster. Ric Flair brings another ladder and Batista grab both ladders and set them up and they both start climbing but they both canít win the match so who will turn on the other. Charlie Haas runs the ropes and pushes Batista off the ladder who goes into Flair knocking Flair also down. Tajiri slides in and hits Haas with a handspring elbow. Regal gets in and now Regal and Tajiri fighting it out. Regal hits a double underhook suplex on Tajiri and watch out Eugene rolls Regal up but Eugene thinks pinfalls count in this match but they donít. So Regal gets back up and explains to Eugene that this isnít the way how to do it. Suddenly Regal nails Eugene with a right hand and now the tag team champions now fighting it out. Kane slides in and hits both of them with a double chokeslams. Kane picks a ladder up and hits Eugene and Regal square in the face with a ladder. Kane is dominating here until Batista and Flair get in the ring and toss Kane over the top rope. Batista and Flair then fight it out against Haas and Tajiri. Haas ducks a charge from Batista to send him over the top rope. Flair dumps Haas over the top rope. Flair then runs into a roundhouse kick from Tajiri. Tajiri traps Flair under a ladder and he runs up a ladder leaning on the ropes and dives off onto everyone else with a plancha. That was phenomenal. Now Regal brings another ladder and fights it out with Flair. Flair goes downstairs and gets a low blow on Regal. Flair now taking advantage of this situation starts climbing the ladder. Eugene thwarts the attempt by tipping the ladder over knocking Flair back down to the mat. Flair is screaming in pain. Eugene then grabs the ladder and heís waiting for someone to come in so he can hit them with it but Jerry Lawler is running him down on commentary. Lawler thinks Eugene is an idiot, he could have set the ladder up and climbed the ladder and go for the belt. Eugene places a ladder on his head and starts swinging around like crazy knocking everyone out in his way until Rhyno gores Eugene. Haas gets in and clotheslines Rhyno. Flair from behind then gets a chop block on Haas. Batista then tosses a ladder at Charlie and Charlie is busted wide open.

Regal gets in and nails Flair with a right hand, Batista misses a clothesline as Regal hits a neckbreaker. Now Regal sets the ladder up but gets stopped by Rhyno as both men start climbing the ladder. Tajiri is now in delivers a handspring elbow knocking both men off the ladder. Very innovative by Tajiri. Tajiri and Eugene then baseball slide dropkick the ladder right into the crotch of Rhyno. Rhyno is in great pain. Tajiri and Eugene find that amusing but watch out Kane from behind attacks both men. Batista now in the ring fights it out with Kane as the fight spills to the floor. Now Flair and Eugene go at it. Flair goes for a figure four but Eugene counters into a roll up but remember there are no pin falls in this match up. Poor Eugene seems to be forgetting the rules here. Flair gets up and chops away at Eugene and then Eugene blocks a right hand and hits a stone cold stunner on Flair. Eugene sets up the ladder and starts climbing. What is wrong with Eugene, win the damn match grab the belt but Eugene has other ideas. Oh no, donít tell me that Eugene is going to do this. Eugene thinks heís Superfly Jimmy Snuka. Eugene comes off the ladder with a Superfly splash on the nature boy and Flair may be out of this. Eugene may have taken himself out of contention to win this match. Eugene could have won this match but instead he made a foolish mistake which will cost him dearly. On the outside Batista grabs a table from under the ring and gets his hands on Tajiri. He sets him up for the Batista Bomb and Tajiri sprays green mist in Batistaís eyes and escapes. Batista has no idea where he is and Batista is down on the floor. Rhyno then beats the hell out of Tajiri. Tajiri then avoids a charge and counters into the tarantula, he has Rhyno in the ropes only for Rhyno to shove Tajiri off sending Tajiri to the floor. Regal and Flair trade lefts and rights while Haas and Kane battle it out in the corner. Haas blocks a right hand and hits an exploder suplex on Kane.

Now Haas and Flair are halfway up the ladder trading fists. Regal set up a ladder next to them and was followed up by Rhyno. All four men began to brawl until Rhyno dropped Regal off with a belly to belly suplex off a ladder. This left Haas and Flair to go at it at the top of the ladder only for Kane to knock them both off the ladder. Bodies laying all over the place. Kane looking around at all the carnage and heís smiling. Kane starts climbing but wait Eugene is back in and knocks Kane off the ladder. Eugene then sets up the ladder and now this is Eugeneís big chance. Eugene starts climbing. Will this be Eugeneís big moment, can he do it here. Eugene is moments away from winning this match. Eugeneís gonna do it. The title is within his grasp and suddenly Batista snuck in and knocks Eugene off the ladder over the top to the floor through the table, crashing and burning at the hands of Batista. On the outside Tajiri avoids a gore from Rhyno as Rhyno goes into the steel steps. So much carnage in the ring, so many superstars are laid out. This is Batistaís chance as he sets up the ladder and look out Kane sits up and now Kane climbing the ladder and manages to stop Batista as these two monsters exchange punches. Tajiri is in sets up the other ladder and starts climbing. Kane and Batista almost have the belt, Batista is in a position to win this here but Kane pulls Batistaís legs through the ladder leaving him hanging upside down. Kaneís got this but Tajiri is on the other ladder so Kane grabs him by the throat. It looks like heís going to chokeslam him off the ladder but suddenly Tajiri sprays red mist in Kaneís eyes as Tajiri manages to hang on the ladder. Red mist on the big red machine sending Kane crashing hard to the mat. Completely legal in the match up. Tajiri starts climbing, listen to this crowd getting behind Tajiri as Tajiri climbs to the top of the ladder. Can he do it and yes Tajiri gets the title. Tajiri has done it. Tajiri has retained his title. What a match up. A standing ovation for the Japanese buzzsaw Tajiri as he overcame 7 men to successfully retain his Intercontinental title. He was a true MVP in this match, very smart work from Tajiri using not only the green mist but also the red mist. All these men put on an amazing display tonight, they all beat the holy hell out of each other but Tajiri on this night was successful. Gail Kim comes out and officials tend to Tajiri who seems to be in a lot of pain. They help him up and he raises the Intercontinental title high and celebrates with Gail. They receive a great pop from the fans.
Match Result: Tajiri retains the Intercontinental Title in the ladder match

Angle tries an Angle slam, Edge slips out and oh my god Edge spears Kurt Angle and himself off the stage. The ref calls for help and starts counting. Edge and Angle not moving, and thatís it both men are counted out. Both men could not answer the count of 10. We just saw these two guys beating the hell out of each other and it looks like this feud is far from over yet, and we donít know who the #1 contender is. This match has taken itís physical toll on both these men. Edge and Kurt are both taken away on a stretcher, both men literally beating the hell out of each other to the point that neither man could stand. Edge and Angle being taken out of here on stretchers. The crowd boos the hell out of the finish. Nobody likes that decision, but the match was super intense and tremendously entertaining.

He reminds Heyman that heís still on probation and told Bischoff although heís not on probation he can replace Bischoff just like that, why because heís Mr McMahon. Vince then decides to sit down with both men as they prepare to watch the main event together. History in the making.

Main Event
Icon vs Icon
The Rock vs Shawn Michaels

Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler then hype up the main event. A video package recaps the feud between The Rock and Shawn Michaels. This is a dream match and we are finally getting it here at SummerSlam. Earl Hebner is already in the ring and he gets booed heavily, fans start the you screwed Bret chants. Suddenly La Resistanceís music hits as they come down to the ring and take a look at this Rene Dupree is also out here with his former team mates. Some fans are cheering and some fans are booing. Just like we had HHH having a one night reunion with his Evolution buddies, Rene is out here with Sylvan Grenier and Rob Conway. We donít understand why they are out here. Rene Dupree takes the mic and said if Smackdownís HHH can have a reunion with Evolution then why canít the French Phenom Rene Dupree do the same. Itís SummerSlam, a joint Raw and Smackdown ppv. Rob Conway said a few months ago they won the tag team titles in Montreal. Itís a travesty that they are left off the card and since they are here in Toronto they deserve to have their special moment. Rene said we just saw Randy Orton become the youngest world heavyweight champion and very soon we will see the youngest ever United States Champion and thatís Rene Dupree. Rene said he just spoke to Paul Heyman and he has granted him a United States Title shot against John Cena this Thursday on Smackdown. Sylvan takes the mic and says since we are all ready for one of the biggest matches of all time, they are here to sing the Canadian National Anthem which draws a pop from the fans. La Resistance sing the National Anthem and then leave.

The fans start a Rocky chant as Rockís music hits and the place erupts as The Rock comes out to a huge ovation. This is so special, so unique, this is truly a dream match. The Canadian fans are totally behind The Rock here and this will be Rockís last match but the question is will Rock walk out tonight victorious? Jim Ross states that Rock beat the legendary Hulk Hogan here in Toronto at WrestleMania 18. Rock has done it all but one thing he hasnít done yet is to defeat Shawn Michaels. Lets not forget that two years ago which was Rockís last SummerSlam appearance, he lost the WWE Title against Brock Lesnar. Tonight in Rockís last match, it could be a humiliating exit for The Great One. Rock then looks at Earl Hebner, Earl gets in Rockís face and warns him and suddenly The Rock drops Earl Hebner with a Rock Bottom. The fans are loving this. Earl then gets helped to the back as the fans sing na na na na na goodbye song for Earl. The match hasnít even started yet and we have no referee now for this match. Mike Cheoda comes down to take over and now we have a referee who will simply call it down the middle. Rock awaits the arrival of HBK. Shawn Michaels music hits as he comes down to huge heat. You can love him or you can hate him but you canít deny that Shawn Michaels is one of the greatest superstars of all time. Michaels very unpopular here, heís very arragont but heís one of the greatest athletes in the history of the WWE. Lets not forget that this is Michaels ninth SummerSlam and he has never lost a one on one match at a SummerSlam.

Jerry Lawler doesnít think Michaels is going to make his first loss here especially in Canada. Michaels has created a memory here in this country that fans still talk about it. What an awesome competitor he is, is he going to steal the show youíre damn right, Heís the icon, the headliner, the show stopper and the main event. Michaels grabs the Canadian flag off a fan in the front row and heís thinking whether to blow his nose on it but teases it but doesnít do it and throws it back at the fan. Michaels does the crotch chop to some fans and the fans simply do not like Michaels here at all. The crowds boos continue to get louder and louder as he enters the ring. This is about two icons going at it and we are about to find out who really is the best. Michaels and Rock stare each other down and the fans are chanting for The Rock. Rock looks at the fans as they are chanting his name as he motions to Shawn to just bring it. Michaels has a cocky grin on his face as the fans are showing their disgust for Michaels. Look at Shawn Michaels he is so full of himself, heís got great confidence despite the fact that Earl Hebner isnít now refereeing this match up. Jim Ross thought that this was a match that he would never ever see but itís finally happening. This is going to be a slobber knocker. Trash talking by the two icons.

The bell rings and here we go history in the making here as Rock and Michaels start off with a collar and elbow tie up. Both are trying to get the best of the exchange until both men start exchanging blows in the center of the ring and Rock sends Shawn flying out of the ring with a huge right hand. Rock laying the Smackdown in the early going and the crowd are going nuts. Michaels is pissed and gets back in and shoves Rock, Rock shoves him back and they come straight to blows exchanging lefts and rights until they fight it out in the corner and the ref has to break it apart. They lock up again. Rock gets a headlock on Michaels and he sends Michaels into the ropes, leapfrog by Michaels and Rock takes Michaels down with a shoulder block. Rock motions to Michaels to bring it. Michaels back up, lock up and Michaels gets a shoulder block on Rock. Michaels then comes off the ropes, leapfrog by The Rock and nice armdrag by Rock and follows up with another armdrag into an armbar. These fans are electric here tonight. Michaels gets back to his feet and breaks the hold. Michaels comes off the ropes, baseball slide by Michaels and now Michaels hitting Rock with lefts and rights. Rock blocks a right hand and fights back and sends Michaels to the apron but Michaels skins the cat to hang on but Rock clotheslines Michaels all the way to the floor. The fans are loving it, thatís not how Michaels wanted to start this match, heís very frustrated in the early going. Michaels gets back in and lock up again and Michaels gets a wrist lock on Rock and now HBK gets a side headlock on Rock, now Rock reverses the headlock and sends Michaels into the ropes and Michaels counters with a swinging neckbreaker. He goes for the pin and Rock kicks out at 2. Michaels hits some reverse knife edge chops across the chest of The Rock. Michaels tries a whip into the corner, Rock reverses and sends Michaels upside down over the top to the floor. What velocity, Michaels turned upside down and inside out. We know about Shawnís history of back problems which almost ended his career. He was out of action for four years. Rock follows and they brawl outside. The ref tries to get both men back in as Rock bounces Michaels face right off the announce table.

Rock sends Michaels back in and Rock goes for a clothesline, Michaels ducks and Michaels with a lou thesz press and mounted punches on Rock. Michaels gets up and starts posing and gets booed heavily. Michaels tries to ram Rockís head into the turnbuckle but Rock puts the break on and rams Michaels head on the turnbuckle. Rock with a belly to back suplex and Michaels kicks out at 2. Rock was looking for The Rock Bottom but Michaels blocks with an elbow and Michaels gets an inverted atomic drop on Rock followed by a clothesline. Michaels goes for the pin and gets a 2 count. Michaels waits for Rock to get up and Michaels sends Rock over the top rope with a clothesline. Michaels launches himself over the ropes and takes out Rock with a slingshot cross body. The ref starts counting as Michaels has Rock on his shoulders, Rock slips out and sends Michaels into the ring post. Rock sends Michaels back in. Rock sends Michaels into the ropes and Rock with an overhead belly to belly suplex and gets a 2 count. Rock whips Michaels into the corner and Rock comes in for a corner clothesline but Michaels moves just in time as Rock goes shoulder first into the post. Snapmare by Michaels. Michaels goes for a short arm scissors working on the arm of The Rock but Rock counters into a roll up 1,2 but Michaels reverses back into a short arm scissors but again Rock turns it over and breaks out of the hold. Both men are up and Michaels gets a backslide and gets a 2 count. Michaels immediately grabs a side headlock on Rock until Rock gets back up and backs Michaels into the corner. Both men exchange lefts and rights until Rock whips Michaels into the ropes and delivers a big back body drop. Rock laying the Smackdown on Michaels, The Rock spit punch, HBK ducks and Rock grabs his leg and Rock with a dragon screw into the sharpshooter. Rock tries to lock it in and Michaels trying to block it kicks Rock into the turnbuckle, Michaels back up and Rock hits Michaels with a clothesline. Rock tries sending Michaels into the ropes, Michaels with a reversal but Rock counters with a side Russian leg sweep. Nice move by the Rock trying to get the cover and Michaels quickly kicked out at 2.

Rock starts putting the boots to HBK and then goes for an irish whip, Michaels reverses and sends Rock into the opposite corner. Michaels then goes up top but Rock catches him on the turnbuckle fighting him off and sending Michaels to the apron. Rock tries suplexing Michaels back in the ring but Michaels reverses and Rock gets suplexed from the ring to the floor. Can Michaels capatalise on this suplex. HBK climbs the buckle and hits the moonsault on Rock. Unbelievable. From the top rope to the floor. Both men get up at 6 and HBK throws Rock into the ring post and sends him back in the ring and makes the cover and Rock kicks out at 2. Michaels tries going for a figure four but Rock counters and sends Michaels into the post. Inside cradle and Michaels kicked out at 2. Michaels back up comes off the ropes but Rock with a kick to the gut drives Michaels down to the mat with a DDT. 1,2 and Michaels kicks out. Rock lifts HBK up on to his shoulders by trying to hit a Samoan drop on HBK but HBK counters in mid air by landing on his feet and then turns Rock around and hits a swinging neckbreaker on Rock telegraphing that well as Rock is down on the canvas in the middle of the ring. Michaels going for the cover and Rock kicks out at 2. Rock then reverses a whip by sending Michaels into the ropes and Rock with a Greco roman throw. Both men get back up, Rock goes for a charge but Michaels ducks and pulls the ropes down sending Rock to the floor. Michaels gets up top and Michaels comes off with a crossbody taking out the Rock and both men are down. The ref starts counting. Michaels breaks the count and goes back out and sends Rock rib-first into the barricade. Michaels sends Rock back in and Michaels with a shot to the mid section, Rock fights back with right hands and runs the ropes but Michaels counters with a sleeper hold. Michaels has it locked in as Rock getting weaker and weaker by the moment. The fans get behind Rock as Rock is fading as the ref drops his arm once, he drops it again and if the arm drops one more time then this one is history but Rock hangs on and refusing to get beat as he counters with a back suplex. Both men are down. The ref starts counting and now both men are back up trading lefts and rights. Michaels with a thumb to the eyes nails Rock with a clothesline and follows up with a back body drop.

Michaels began to tune up the band but instead of hitting sweet chin music he stops and proceeds to lock in the Sharpshooter on The Rock. Michaels does not have Earl Hebner here to call for the bell immediately. Michaels gets huge heat for this, reminiscent of the Sharpshooter he used on Bret Hart during the Montreal Screwjob as HBK has it locked in, will Rock tap out?. HBK has him in the centre of the ring in the Sharpshooter and Rock is trying to scratch and claw his way to get to the ropes but Rock eventually gets to the ropes and HBK has to break the hold. He still has the hold locked on as he has until the count of 5 to break the hold and he breaks it as soon as the ref gets to 4. HBK is getting heavy boos but he doesn't care as he looks at the crowd and then flips off the crowd with a DX crotch chop. HBK is showing signs of being the Shawn Michaels of old, the Attitude Era HBK is in full effect. Michaels puts the boots to The Rock and then Michaels goes for a clothesline but Rock counters with a float over DDT and both men are down. Rock gets his arm over on HBK and goes for the pin and gets a 2 count. Then both men are now back on their feet fighting it out exchanging rights and lefts again until Rock whips HBK off the ropes and when HBK is coming in, Rock tries to clothesline HBK but HBK ducks underneath the clothesline attempt and comes off the ropes and nails Rock with a flying forearm and both men are down. HBK kips up and this is classic HBK as he gets back to his feet. He brings Rock back to his feet and he picks up The Rock hitting a scoop slam on The Rock which sends Rock down on to the canvas. HBK sees this as his opportunity to go to the top rope, Michaels taking a chance here by going up top and Michaels connects with a flying elbow drop on Rock. HBK then walks over to the corner and he is waiting for The Rock to get back to his feet as he is tuning up the band. Now Michaels feels it, he can sense it. HBK setting up for sweet chin music and when Rock is back on his feet, HBK is going for Sweet Chin Music and Rock sensing what was coming ducks the superkick, Rock goes for a Rock Bottom. He goes for it but Michaels slips out of it and rolls Rock up 1, 2, 2 Ĺ and Rock kicks out. What an amazing, absolutely amazing counter there from Michaels. Both men are up and Rock gets a dragon screw on Michaels and Rock immediately locks in the sharpshooter and the crowd are going nuts. Rock has it locked in. Michaels refusing to give up, he is doing all he can to counter, Michaels tries reaching the ropes and he does.

Rock sends Michaels into the corner and runs into a boot and Michaels hits Rock with sweet chin music out of no where and falls on top of Rock. He goes for the pin 1, 2 and Rock kicked out at 2 Ĺ. HBK canít believe it. Rock kicks out just barely as HBK is wondering to himself what he has to do to put Rock away as he is going nuts. He is so frustrated so Michaels begins to mock Rock. HBK is going for the People's Elbow mocking The Rock by going for Rock's signature move as HBK runs off the ropes off of both sides, Rock kips up and then when HBK is about to go for the People's Elbow, Rock is back up on his feet and catches HBK coming in hitting The Rock Bottom from out of nowhere to pin 1, 2 and Michaels kicked out at 2 Ĺ. Rock can't believe it as he thought he had the match won and the fans can't believe it either and neither can the announcers. Michaels showing his toughness and resilience kicking out. Rock then brings Michaels back up to his feet as they exchange lefts and rights. Michaels tries sending Rock into the ropes, Rock reverses and drops Michaels with a spinebuster. Here we go Rock takes his elbow pad off. Rock setting up for the most electrifying move in sports entertainment today, the peoples elbow. Rock runs off the ropes and hits the peoples elbow and goes for the pin. 1,2 and Michaels kicked out at 2 Ĺ. What a gruelling battle this has been. Rock starts stalking Michaels as Rock sets up for the Rock Bottom, Michaels blocks with an elbow to the face sending Rock into the ropes and Michaels goes for the superkick but Rock blocks and spins HBK around and hits the Rock Bottom. Rock goes for the pin 1, 2, 3. Itís over Rock wins. The Rock has defeated Shawn Michaels. We have just witnessed one of the greatest matches of all time as one icon has defeated another icon. The Rock celebrates his victory, Shawn Michaels is down on the mat looking dejected. Michaels got up and cuts Rockís celebration and gets in his face. They are having a few words, it certainly does hurt to lose but Michaels extends his hand. Can Rock trust him here. Is Michaels wishing Rock best of luck here or is he going to double cross him? Rock is thinking about it and Rock finally shakes his hand, accepting Shawnís handshake as Michaels exits the ring. Michaels leaves to a mixed reaction. Both men gave it their all and delivered one hell of a match. Thank you for the memories Rock. Jim Ross says this has been the greatest SummerSlam of all time. Rock celebrates his victory as SummerSlam comes to a close.
Match Result: The Rock defeated Shawn Michaels

SUMMERSLAM REVIEW

PRE-SHOW

Everything was succinct, the interviews were to the point, and, you had your filler match to gauge the crowd. Will Jindrak get a push to the main shows soon or, was that really a jobber vs jobber match?

S1

The opening video and the intro from both RAW & SD teams sets the table up perfectly for this momentous event!

MATCH 1 - RVD Vs Y2J

A great opener, filled with great spots. I especially liked how it ended. I hope it leads to a series between the two men, they have such great chemistry with one another.

S2

It's always a pleasure to see Heyman & Bischoff interact with one another!

MATCH 2 - 8 MEN LADDER MATCH

What a clusterfuck of a match. There were so many different personalities, styles and etc, it was kind of hard to all follow unfold. Still, I think with 6 men it would have been much better, but there were some great spots through and through. I really liked how Tajiri pulled this one out at the very last split second to retain!

S3

Edge hyped up his match with Angle but I didn't really feel like he was on his A-game tonight, maybe the nerves getting to compete in front of his hometown crowd...

MATCH 3 - BOOKER Vs CENA

This was a better match than I had expected, Booker really shined in the matchup. I really liked how both men kicked out of each other's finisher and how quickly Cena finaly locked in the FU one more time for the quick and sudden win!

S4

Again, another emotional interaction between Benoit & Eddie.

MATCH 4 - EDGE Vs ANGLE

Match of the night thus far. What a physical contest that really, indeed, surpassed anything these two ever endured, ever. The many suplexes and whatnot was tremendous. The many near finishes kept me on edge, pun intended, throughout this read. The ending was spectacular. This opens up tremendous possibilites for the World Title picture.

S5

Classic Eddie indeed!

MATCH 5 - HHH Vs MYSTERIO

The perfect follow up for the Angle & Edge match. No one tried to steal the show but HHH sold the hell out of everything Rey throwed at him. Best spot of the match was probably the two sequences on the outside and the one where Rey did the Frankensteiner from the apron to the floor with HHH on the floor. The match ended rather suddenly, but, it went on to prove that the Pedidgree is one of the most devastating finishers ever.

S6

Unforgiven... is it me or this PPV is always lame...

S7

I liked Ross & Lawler giving their thoughts on the HHH & Rey battle.

MATCH 6 - ORTON Vs BENOIT

It was a good enough match, but, I felt it was so short and didn't do justice to the World Heavyweight Belt and what it represents. A lot of spots were found in previous matches as well, which showed a bit of a let down coming from a ring general such as Benoit. Still, I'm happy with your decision to give Orton the belt, now, I just hope he won't be receiving the same fate he received from Evolution in our "real" past...

S8

That's a very nice way to introduce Carlito to us. Can't wait to see where you take CCC.

S9

Excellent interview from The Rock. Promo of the night.

MATCH 7 - VENIS/DAWN Vs HARDY/LITA

Perfect little filler match with a great story attached to it. I really enjoyed this one, the action was really great from both genders, and, I really liked how Venis & Dawn stole that one from Hardy... Who knows what's going to happen to Lita now...

S10

HBK was on point tonight, when he's the heel on the mic, HBK is golden. Can't wait for the matchup!

MATCH 8 - UNDERTAKER Vs EDDIE

A great back and forth contest for the WWE title. I liked how Eddie was able to get the win with a very similar counter to Piper & Hart from WM 8. But Eddie kicking out of the Tombstone was a bit too much, it just downgrades the actual effectiveness of the hold, now that Eddie has kicked out of it. All in all, it was the better Championship bout of the two for sure!

S11

Ain't no party like an Evolution party!!! Unless you're in to sweaty men mixing it up with subpar looking gals at the most... Still, I can sense that maybe HHH could be looking at his group have more sucess without him now that he's on SD!...

S12

Poor Matt, wonder what Venis' movie title will be for his night with Lita...

S13

I wouldn't want to be in the same room as Heyman, Bischoff & Mr. McMahon...

MAIN EVENT - HBK Vs ROCK

What a dream match. It's a shame this is going to be a one time only deal... The matchup itself was too back and forth... I would have liked if one guy, HBK, had control over the Rock for a good duration of the matchup. The last minutes of action was so great, starting with the Superkick out of the corner, followed by Rock's kipping up and dropping HBK with the Rock Bottom. Everything was greatly written in the last paragraph. A great battle, but, it did leave me wanting more... so, I guess it's a good thing!

OVERALL = This was a great SummerSlam on your part but I didn't feel the whole 4 hour atmosphere surrounding it. With the kind of fast paced action you put down, you didn't 4 hours. The outcomes and the great moments in this PPV really made the event come to life. One thing though I must say, all your matches are so back and forth, apart from the endings, they lack in rythmn. It's always the same fast pace and it can sometimes get hard to follow in. But, apart from, this is one BTB I thoroughly enjoy my friend. Keep at it!

SummerSlam Feedback

Definite way to open up SummerSlam with RVD and Y2J and honestly after reading this match, this match was back and forth and honestly could have went either way but I was glad that Jericho won because now he can set his sights on becoming WWE Champion and as for RVD he has been on a losing streak as of late and I really hope he can crack it but in my eyes Jericho needed the win more especially since he's heel now

Heyman and Bischoff these 2 going at it, for me, never gets old

Tajiri retaining his Intercontinental Championship against 7 other men in an 8-man Ladder Match, definite unique spots, high-flying spots but also times where I honestly thought that anyone could have won that match but I am glad that you had Tajiri win and you wanna know why, because with this win it puts him over as IC Champion and it could help to prepare him for a lengthy reign as IC Champion

Edge if anything he should be getting cheered since we are in Toronto, Canada my hometown as well as Edge's but him getting a mixed reaction, understandable considering he is one of the top heels in the WWE right now, but I honestly can see him beating Angle

John Cena beating Booker to retain the US Title in a great match-up, a match-up that could have gone either way but still Cena proving to me why he still deserves the moniker of "The Champ" because his reign has been really lengthy but if Cena is ever going to become a main eventer, he is eventually going to have to drop the US Title at some point and I honestly think that he will

Benoit & Eddie segment, I loved it a whole lot because it adds to the emotion of the PPV as well with them interacting, it helps them to go on to defend their titles later on in the night

Edge & Angle with their Last Man Standing Match going to a draw, I wonder if this is the end of their feud because I don't think that it will be because if anything these 2 have been through it all and the only way for their feud to have any type of finality is if they face each other inside Hell In A Cell since their feud has gotten personal

Another classic Eddie segment in the making

HHH beating Rey Mysterio in what I thought was a classic match-up, just plain awesome, definite contender for Match of the Year and their feud being so personal, and I honestly think that after this, HHH in my mind deserves to be the next #1 Contender for the WWE Championship and that he should face Eddie Guerrero or The Undertaker whoever ends up being WWE Champion after SummerSlam

Can't wait until Unforgiven

Lawler & JR talking about Rey/HHH was funny, them on commentary going back and forth is pretty funny

Orton becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion, the youngest ever, in another Match of the Year candidate and now the reign of Orton can begin and I definitely loved it when Orton RKOed Benoit especially when he was about to tease a handshake, gives Orton definite heel heat especially now as the new champion but now who will face Orton at Unforgiven, will it be Edge, Angle, or Benoit, or all 3 of them, either way Orton as champion I want to see how he does in his reign

I loved how you introduced Carlito Caribbean Cool and hopefully he gets a big push when he debuts

Rock's interview was classic Rock and I for one will miss him since he is leaving

Venis & Dawn vs. Matt Hardy & Lita this match I could really care less about, I don't know why, it just didn't appeal to me anymore but at the same time I am glad that Venis & Dawn won because it gives them real heel heat and then them kidnapping Lita after the match-up and Matt distraught afterwards was awesome

Classic heel HBK especially on the mic, and I for one hope he loses to The Rock tonight

Wow but the match I think I was most blown away by was Eddie defending his title against The Undertaker, and Eddie still the WWE Champion but Taker had him beat during the match and when Eddie kicked out of the Tombstone, I was shocked and then Taker kicking out of the Frog Splash earlier on, and then it being a real back and forth battle and then it finally ending with Eddie on top, Eddie still proving why he deserves to be WWE Champion but I think sooner or later his luck will run out and he will lose that WWE Championship

Evolution's backstage party was awesome as well as Matt Hardy backstage being distraught, and I wonder if Val will make a movie with Lita because if he does, then imagine he makes a movie with both Lita and Dawn Marie, threesome, oh baby, can't wait

Heyman, Bischoff, and McMahon segment I also loved too

And as for the main event, Icon vs Icon, Rock beating HBK in this dream match-up just proves to me that Rock was always better than HBK and he will always be better than HBK but HBK also proving to me that he was the bigger man here after he took his loss in stride but hopefully we get to see these 2 go at it again at some point, definite show-stopper of a contest

Overall great SummerSlam and I can't wait until Unforgiven!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Terry glad you enjoyed the show. Still welcoming any feedback for SummerSlam if anyone has any to give. Now it’s time to move on with Raw.

WWE Raw
August 16, 2004

A recap is shown of last night at SummerSlam when The Rock defeated Shawn Michaels. It also showed Randy Orton defeating Chris Benoit to win the world heavyweight title.

Randy Orton World Heavyweight Champion

The announcers welcome us to the show and last night we witnessed the greatest SummerSlam of all time. Randy Orton’s music hits. The new world heavyweight champion Randy Orton comes out as balloons and confetti fall from the ceiling. Orton starts gloating about his win at SummerSlam. This is his year, he’s achieved so much this year. Everyone thought he couldn’t do it but Orton said he would do it and he did. He made history. He is the youngest world champion in history. You don’t often see special moments like this. Chris Benoit was a good champion but he wasn’t great. Orton said you’re looking at greatness right now. He’s better than Mick Foley, better than The Rock and certainly better than Chris Benoit. Orton said he has the perfect ppv record this year because he’s yet to lose a one on one match at a ppv this year. Orton bragged about the fact that he did what no other man could do and put a stop to Chris Benoit’s reign. Benoit isn’t for real now. Orton said he held the Intercontinental title for a long time and claims that he will hold the world title even longer. Orton vows to become the greatest champion of all time. Orton shows a video package of the incredible year he’s had so far. The era of Randy Orton has begun. He’s now going to go to the back and party with his Evolution buddies and some fine young women. Thank you very much. Orton is about to leave but suddenly Kurt Angle comes out. Kurt sarcastically congratulated Orton on becoming the youngest world champion ever. Kurt said Orton claims he’s a legend killer well Kurt Angle’s a wrestling machine and there’s one legend that Orton hasn’t killed yet and that’s Kurt Angle. It’s been a long time since Kurt Angle’s been champion and Angle vows to make Orton’s reign one of the shortest title reigns in history. Kurt Angle said he’s not at 100% tonight, he still has unfinished business with Edge but once he’s done with Edge he’s coming for Orton. Orton fired back and told Kurt that he didn’t get the job done last night, he isn’t the #1 contender. Edge may not have finished the job but if Kurt used his Intelligence from his so called three eyes that he brags about then he would stay away from Randy Orton. Orton brings up the point where he put Kurt’s protťgť Shelton Benjamin on the shelf and he would do the same to Kurt if he got in his way. Kurt said that he would like to see Orton try but Orton said he would love to put Kurt in his place but not tonight because he’s going out to celebrate. Chris Benoit came out to interrupt and Orton didn’t like this at all.

Benoit got into the ring and Orton bailed out of the ring and wanted no part of Benoit. Benoit told Orton to be a man and get back in the ring but Orton remained outside. Benoit told Orton he came back from Bischoff’s office, he’s got his rematch clause and challenged Orton to a title match tonight. Orton was pissed and told Benoit that he is not fighting tonight because it is his night of celebration. They can do their rematch in the United States because he’s already proved to Benoit that he can beat Benoit in Benoit’s country. Huge heat for Orton. He doesn’t need to prove it again. Edge then comes out on the stage. Edge talked about last night how he was booed in his hometown and even tonight he’s not getting the respect he deserves. Last night he went to war with Kurt Angle and speared him off the stage. Edge said he’s even shocked that Kurt is out here tonight. Edge said he still has unfinished business with Kurt but he can put that to hold for the time being. Edge said we still don’t know who the #1 contender is but Edge feels that he is more than deserving of a title shot. Eric Bischoff came out and made Benoit vs Orton official for tonight with the title on the line. Since Edge and Kurt aren’t 100% yet and their match at SummerSlam ended in a draw, we will have a rematch next week. Next week they will settle their feud once and for all in their final encounter. It will be a 2 out of 3 falls match where each fall is contested under different rules making this a 3 stages of hell match. Eric wanted Edge and Kurt to see him in his office later on to decide which type of matches they will compete in for their match. He warned them if they lay a hand on one another before their match next week then there will be fines and suspensions for both of them. The winner of tonight’s match will meet the winner of next week’s match at Unforgiven.

He lifts him up and drops him with a devastating chokeslam. The bell continues to ring until Charlie Haas comes down for the save and nails Kane with a few right hands and follows up with a dropkick to send Kane out of the ring. Jerry Lawler thinks Haas is being a sore loser after Kane ended Charlie’s chances of winning the ladder match last night. Jim Ross thinks Kane was going too far with Tajiri so he’s glad Charlie came to Tajiri’s aid. Kane gets back in and Haas quickly manages to get out of the ring with Tajiri as they back up the ramp. Kane warns Charlie that he’s going to get him as Haas has a smirk on his face. Kane is irate.
Winner by disqualification Tajiri

Backstage Eric Bischoff is his office with Eugene and William Regal. Eugene is sore, he tells Eric that he enjoyed the ladder match last night. He enjoyed jumping off the ladder. Regal said half the time Eugene was bloody confused. Eric said he knows that they were involved in a gruelling ladder match last night but they are the tag team champions. They will be making their first defense of the belts tonight against a team they’ve never faced before, The Basham Brothers.

Backstage Todd Grisham gets a word with Gail Kim as she gives an update on Tajiri’s condition. Rhyno confronts her and tries intimidating her. Rhyno claims Tajiri’s victory last night was a fluke and he didn’t deserve to win. Rhyno said when Tajiri’s fully healed he’s coming next for the Intercontinental title. He then told Gail that later on tonight Trish has a couple of important announcements to make and very soon the championship couple of Tajiri and Gail Kim won’t be champions any longer.

Match 2
Batista vs Jamie Noble

Jamie Noble had no chance in this match. Noble tried hammering away at Batista at the start but it had no effect on the Animal as Batista threw Noble into the corner. Backstage Shawn Michaels arrives into the arena and we will be hearing from HBK after our next match.

Match 3
Tag Team Title Match
William Regal and Eugene © vs The Bashams

The Bashams are already in the ring. Regal and Eugene then come out to a great ovation. They aren’t 100% after last night but Bischoff doesn’t give a damn and wants them to have their first title defense tonight. This is the first time these 2 teams are facing each other. Regal starts off with Doug Basham as they lock up. Regal with a wrist lock, Danny reverses so Regal sends Doug into the ropes and gets a shoulder block. Doug gets up and Regal gets an armdrag on Doug. Regal works on Doug’s arm and tags Eugene. Regal and Eugene do some double teaming taking turns hitting Doug with lefts and rights until Regal has to go back to his corner. Doug pokes Eugene right in the eye and tags Danny. Now The Bashams do some double teaming on Eugene as they exchange quick tags. Danny distracts the ref while Doug gets a cheapshot on Eugene. Eugene then avoids a charge as Danny goes face first into the turnbuckle. Eugene tags Regal. Regal sends Danny into the ropes and catches him with a knee lift. He went for a pin and Doug breaks up the pin. Now all four men are in the ring brawling. Eugene dropkicks Doug out of the ring. Eugene then hit the stone cold stunner on Danny and Regal then makes Danny submit to the Regal stretch. Regal and Eugene retain the tag titles. Regal and Eugene celebrate their win but get jumped by La Resistance. What the hell is their problem. It looks like they’re making a statement here tonight. La Resistance then motion for the tag team titles and leave to huge heat.
Winners: William Regal and Eugene

Backstage Flair and Batista fire Orton up. Batista said Ric Flair was one of the greatest world heavyweight champions of all time, he held the world title 16 times more than anyone in history. Flair then talked about how great HHH was as world champion and he wanted Orton to follow in their footsteps because all he sees is greatness for Orton. Orton worked hard to get to the top and now he is the man. Batista said once Orton beats Benoit then Evolution will go out and party Evolution style.

A vignette aired promoting the debut of Nova. It shows Nova competing in various organisations including ECW. He will be coming to Raw soon.

The announcers then discussed the icon vs icon match from last night and Jim Ross informs the fans that Earl Hebner has quit his job. He has now left the company.

Shawn Michaels addresses the fans

Shawn Michaels comes out to a mixed reaction and addressed the fans and stated that last night we saw perhaps the greatest match of all time. What really gets to him is that he didn’t win the match but him and The Rock certainly stole the show last night. They put on match that will be talked about for many years. He knows that the fans here don’t like him, they will probably never forgive him. They are stuck in the past and they need to move on and that’s something what HBK is going to do. As much as it hurts him to have to admit this last night The Rock was the better man. Shawn said him and Rock will never ever be the best of friends but he has a new found respect for The Rock. He wishes him luck but also gives a parting shot to Rock about earning more money in Hollywood. Shawn pointed out that there was a time when he wanted out of the WWE because his friends were in WCW but he just couldn’t do it why because he loves the WWE. Shawn said whether these fans love him or hate him, he is always loyal to the WWE and he will always continue to put on a show that all of these fans will remember for the rest of their lifetime. Shawn then tells the fans that he is going to become a father this week and suddenly Trish Stratus comes down to interrupt and Trish gets a great ovation. Trish gets in the ring and sarcastically congratulates HBK. She then tells Shawn that he will never be a hero in Canada but despite a lot of people hating her, she will always be loved and respected here in Canada. Big pop for Trish. Trish said the people in the USA are a bunch of US A-Holes. Trish said this was supposed to be her time to come out and make a few announcements but Shawn has to be Shawn. He likes stealing peoples thunder, he had to come down and make a sympathy speech. She said face it Shawn, these fans here don’t like you. Trish calls Shawn a has been. A loser who’s lost his smile, he was humiliated last night. He can go back home and cry to his wife. Trish being a super bitch here starts making fun of Shawn’s wife. Shawn then yells at Trish and tells her not to even go there and warns her not to make any more comments about his wife.

Trish then offers Shawn advice that he’s not had the long time off since he’s returned from his back injury and he’s burnt out. He needs to stop hogging the spotlight and stay home. Trish then said oh she totally forgot about her announcement and tells the fans that her arm is almost healed and by doctors orders she will be cleared to compete in action again in 2 weeks but she may not rush back into competition right away though. She then said probably everyone knows this by now because Earl Hebner has left his job, so she gets the fans to chant the na na na na goodbye chant for Earl and The Canadian fans love this. Trish then continues on and says there is even bigger news. Now since The Rock has left, we don’t have a people’s champion anymore but fear not people The Rock has been replaced. We have a new people’s champion, and he’s always there for the peeps. He will be coming back to action soon because he’s almost recovered from his injury. That’s right her man Christian will be coming back soon. Trish was so excited. Trish claims that Christian is better than The Rock and he’s certainly better than HBK. Shawn needs to change his theme because he’s not a sexy boy, Christian is the best looking guy in the WWE. Michaels then sarcastically said is Trish done yet? Shawn said he’s had enough of putting up with all that crap from Canada’s biggest piece of trash. HBK said his wife will probably kill him for saying this on national television but he doesn’t care since Trish has certainly pushed his buttons (he says this in a funny way) People talk about HBK pulling off the biggest screwjob in history well it pales in comparison to the amount of screwing jobs Trish has had if she gets what he means. Trish was furious and HBK has a smirk on his face. Trish slaps Shawn and Shawn blasts Trish Stratus with the Superkick. Oh my god, Shawn just superkicked a woman and Michaels is just standing there staring at a motionless Trish Stratus. Rhyno ran down and exchanged lefts and rights with Michaels. He sends Michaels over the top rope but no Michaels skins the cat back in and Michaels tossed Rhyno over the top rope to the floor. Michaels gets the mic and told Rhyno if he wants some lets do this right now. Trish gets helped to the back. Shawn calls for a ref and a ref came down and it looks like we’ve got a match.

Match 4
Shawn Michaels vs Rhyno

This was one of the best matches of Rhyno’s career. Rhyno and Michaels lock up, Rhyno with a knee to the gut and follows up with a shoulder block. Rhyno then sent Michaels into the ropes, baseball slide from Michaels and Michaels clotheslines Rhyno over the top rope. Jerry Lawler is worried about the condition of Trish, poor Trish she was getting ready for her return in 2 weeks and HBK may delay her comeback after that devastating superkick. Lawler said HBK is just heartless. Jim Ross defends Shawn and said Shawn simply wanted to move on after the abuse he’s been taking from these fans but there will always be some that will love him or hate him. He will always be the showstopper. Despite Shawn being a born again Christian, Trish was simply asking for this, she went way too far with her comments. As much as he hates to say this because he does not like the idea of a woman being hit by a man, well she got what she deserved. Lawler was shocked at JR. Rhyno gets back in and Michaels takes Rhyno down with an armdrag and then works on Rhyno’s arm. Rhyno gets up and elbows out of the hold and delivers a suplex and gets a 2 count. Rhyno then went for a boston crab but Michaels managed to make it to the ropes. Rhyno then continues the assault on Michaels until Rhyno sent Michaels into the corner. He ran into a boot and Michaels up top delivers a crossbody and gets a 2 count. Michaels then hits Rhyno with lefts and rights, he sends Rhyno into the ropes and gets a swinging neckbreaker on Rhyno and gets a 2 count. Rhyno then reversed a whip and caught Michaels with a knee lift. He went for a chinlock, Michaels broke out of the hold and ran the ropes and delivers a flying forearm. Both men are down. Michaels kips up. Michaels with a scoop slam and now Michaels goes up top and goes for a flying elbow drop and connects. He went for the pin and Rhyno kicks out at 2 Ĺ. Rhyno then reversed a whip and delivers a spinebuster. Rhyno then sets up for the gore, he went for it but Michaels sidesteps the gore as Rhyno went into the turnbuckle. He turns around and Michaels blasts him with sweet chin music. Michaels hooks the legs and gets the 3 count to win the match.
Winner: Shawn Michaels

Shawn celebrates his win and Mark Jindrak runs down and Michaels blasts him with the superkick. Eric Bischoff comes out and he is furious. Bischoff furious about Michaels hitting him with the superkick last week. Bischoff yells at Shawn and said you don’t ever do that to Eric Bischoff. Now what Shawn did to Trish was completely out of order, completely unprofessional. Shawn was humiliated last night and now he will have a double humiliation in Canada because he’s sending Shawn home. Shawn can go back to his wife and cry because he’s suspending Shawn indefinitely for unprofessional conduct. Eric calls for security as they escort Shawn out of the arena as they take Shawn away. A mixed reaction here from the fans. A Heartbreaking moment for The Heart Break Kid.

Backstage Eric Bischoff is in his office with Kurt Angle and Edge who have an intense staredown and Bischoff calms them down. He tells them what he just did with HBK just a while ago could be the fate of theirs if they don’t listen up. He told both men to sign the contract for their final encounter next week. This will be it and once it’s all over one of them will go on to receive a title shot at Unforgiven. Bischoff told both men that they will be spinning a wheel to determine which type of match they will compete in. Edge and Angle argue over who will spin the wheel first and Bischoff yells enough. He tells Edge to spin the wheel first for the first fall and it lands on a street fight. Edge said after the beating he gives Kurt in the first fall, the referee may just award the 2nd fall to Edge by forfeit. Kurt laughed it off and spins the wheel for the 2nd fall and it lands on a steel cage match. Kurt said exactly what he wanted, there will be no place to run and no place to hide when he beats the hell out of Edge in the cage. Bischoff then said if the match ends up going to a 3rd fall then he’s going to spin the wheel to decide what match the 3rd fall could be. It lands on a stretcher match. Edge said now that is perfect just what he wanted but he thinks it won’t even go to a 3rd fall because he’s going to win 2 straight falls. Kurt said what he didn’t finish off at SummerSlam he will finish off next week oh it’s true it’s damn true. Kurt walked off and Edge has an intense look on his eyes. What a showdown it will be next week.

WWE News and Notes

Shawn Michaels will miss next week’s Raw show as his wife is about to give birth to their second child. This is why a suspension angle too place on Raw but do not expect the suspension angle to last long as Michaels will be back soon. Officials have discussed a feud between Shawn Michaels and Christian at Unforgiven. The storyline was started this Monday on Raw with Trish Stratus declaring that since The Rock has left the WWE, we have a new peoples champion and that’s her man, Christian. Christian is expected to be back in action soon to start a feud with Shawn Michaels.

Expect to see 2 feuds to come to an end. Val Venis and Matt Hardy's feud will be coming to an end this week on Smackdown. Next week Kurt Angle and Edge will settle their feud in a 2 out of 3 falls(3 stages of hell) match.

My tv shows match write ups from now on will be in less detail.

WWE Smackdown
August 19, 2004

Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel with Matt Hardy, Lita, Val Venis, Dawn Marie.

A recap is shown from SummerSlam when Eddie Guerrero defeated The Undertaker and also HHH defeated Rey Mysterio. The Smackdown video plays as the announcers welcome us to the show and Chris Jericho is already in the ring as his music plays. Jericho welcomes the fans to the Highlight Reel. Jericho brags about his victory at SummerSlam. He claims that he is Canada’s greatest ever athlete. He finally beat RVD at a ppv and now Y2J is going to move on to bigger and better things but it’s not about Y2J tonight. It was supposed to be about Val Venis and Dawn Marie tonight but unfortunately it wasn’t to be. Everyone seems to be confused because Val and Dawn won their match at SummerSlam which meant that Lita had to sleep with Val and Val took off with Lita. However Jericho said yet again another Canadian got screwed in Canada and it is a damn shame. Jericho points to the Jeritron 5000 and it shows footage of what went down after SummerSlam went off the air. Val, Dawn and Lita went to the hotel right down the street from the building. Lita pleaded with Val and Dawn to call it off and Val told her there is no way he will call this off. Dawn told Lita if she doesn’t go ahead with it she will lose her job so Lita had no other choice but to go ahead with this. Later on Val and Dawn get into the act as Lita is just standing there watching them and she feels disgusted. Dawn yelled at her and told her to go and get ready. Later on Lita is ready. Before Val can get his hands on Lita, he hears a knock on the door. Room service! Dawn yells that they don’t need it so she opens the door and it’s Matt Hardy. Val is shocked and Lita hits Val with a low blow and Matt Hardy and Lita beat the hell out of Val Venis and Dawn Marie. Hardy cracks a champagne bottle over Val’s head and Lita pours champagne all over Dawn. Hardy came to Lita’s aid and leaves with her as the footage ends. Crowd pops huge for Hardy and Lita as Jericho invites them to come down for the Highlight Reel. Hardy and Lita come out to a great ovation.

Jericho asks Hardy is he proud of that and Hardy said he damn right is and Jericho seemed absolutely disgusted with the actions of Hardy and Lita. Hardy said the way how Val won the match shows that he would stoop to any sort of level to get Lita. He had that one chance and he blew it and he will never everrr(mocked Jericho) get Lita again. Lita and Matt start kissing and Jericho introduces his next guests Val Venis and Dawn Marie. They walk down to the ring and they are furious. Val and Dawn protest over what went down at SummerSlam and for that Lita should be fired however Val doesn’t want Dawn to be fired, if someone deserves to be fired then it’s Matt Hardy. Tonight was supposed to be the night where he would show the whole world his latest video which would have been Lita getting a rise out of the big Valbowski. She was his property for a night but Hardy ruined it. Val says coz foreplay is his middle...whoops fair play is his middle name and he won fair at SummerSlam and demanded that Hardy sends Lita back to him. Hardy told Val if he had the balls come and take her off him right now. They end up brawling and Jericho gets out of there. Paul Heyman comes down to put a stop to this. He’s furious at Matt Hardy because he very well knew in the contract that if him and Lita lost their match then Lita would get to sleep with Val but Hardy ruined it. He does not want his show to get out of control and he has an idea to put a stop to this. Tonight we will see Matt Hardy vs Val Venis in a no holds barred match and if Val wins, he has Lita and there's nothing Hardy can do about it. If Hardy wins, then Lita's all his and Val can do nothing about it. Heyman has made a strong decision here to put an end to this and we will see Hardy againt Venis later on tonight.

Match 1
US Title Match
John Cena © vs Rene Dupree

Rene Dupree came out to a mixed reaction. He cut a pre match promo and said everyone will be proud to have the French Phenom representing Smackdown as United States Champion. After tonight he will have the French flag in one hand and the US Title in the other. John Cena came out to a great pop and did a freestyle rap on Dupree. The last time these two men met in a one on one match was in the gauntlet match a month ago and Cena was victorious. Trash talking at the start and the bell rings and Booker T comes down and Cena doesn’t like this at all. Booker joins Tazz and Cole for commentary. Can Rene Dupree become the youngest ever United States Champion with a victory over Cena tonight? Booker T starts running down Cena and Booker claims that Cena cheated at SummerSlam. Cena and Dupree lock up and Dupree takes Cena down with a shoulder block. Cena then reversed a whip and took Dupree down with a shoulder block and then began to hammer away at Dupree with lefts and rights. They brawl outside until Cena sends Dupree back in. Cena and Booker having words but Cena goes back in. Dupree fights back with a knee to the gut and then hits a clothesline and gets a 2 count. Dupree then takes control by wearing Cena down. Cena fights back and then hits the five knuckle shuffle and gets a near fall. Cena then runs into a boot in the corner, Dupree hits a spinebuster and gets a 2 count. He went for a bearhug, Cena breaks out with a jaw breaker and follows up with a throwback and gets a near fall. He went up top and hit a guillotine legdrop and gets a 2 count. Cena sent Dupree into the turnbuckle and ran into an elbow and Dupree hits a clothesline. Dupree does the French tickler and follows up with a knee drop and gets a 2 count.

Dupree then mocked Cena by trying to imitate the five knuckle shuffle but missed as Cena rolled out the way. Booker T didn’t care who wins this but he feels that he deserves another shot at the US Title. The action goes back and forth until Dupree rammed Cena’s head into the turnbuckle and hit a death valley driver and Cena got his shoulder up at 2 Ĺ. Dupree tries The Dupree Driver again but Cena slips out and hit the FU. Booker T got on the apron for the distraction and Cena went after Booker and brawls with him up the ramp to chase him off. The ref tries to get Cena back in. Dupree gets frustrated and went outside and grabs the US Title and brings it in the ring. Cena nails Dupree with a right hand so Cena tries using the belt but the referee takes the belt off Cena and Cena’s arguing with the referee. Wait a minute Dupree grabs Cena’s steel chain. The ref takes the belt off Cena and Cena turns around and gets struck with his own steel chain by Rene Dupree. Cena is out cold and the referee never saw it. The ref turns around and Dupree brings Cena back up to his feet and drops him with the Dupree Driver. Dupree goes for the pin and gets the 3 count to steal his way to title victory over Cena. Dupree celebrates his win and he is the new United States Champion. Dupree used Cena’s steel chain to steal the United States Championship. Dupree grabs his flag and starts waving it around. He then grabs the chain and places it on Cena’s chest to add insult to injury. Dupree has made history by becoming the youngest ever US Champion.
Winner and new United States Champion Rene Dupree

Backstage Paul Heyman is having a word with Steven Richards. Richards is making his first Smackdown appearance since being traded here to Smackdown. Richards wanted to make an impact here because Smackdown is the land of opportunity. Heyman encourages Richards to make a statement. Dawn Marie and Val Venis come into the office and Richards leaves. Val and Dawn try to get Heyman to change his mind but Heyman isn’t having none of it. He can not let things get out of control each and every week. He fires Val Venis up and wants Val to prove to him why he got him here on Smackdown in the first place. Val said since the big Valbowski couldn’t screw Lita at SummerSlam, well after tonight when he beats Hardy, Hardy will leave the WWE in embarrasment. Everyone will say Matt Hardy screwed Matt Hardy. That gave him an idea, that will be the name of his XXX next movie, screwjob. Val, Heyman and Dawn burst out laughing.

A promo is shown of JBL visiting The Statue of Liberty. JBL said he hasn’t been seen for a while because he’s been too busy campaigning. People like him are the true founders of America. JBL starts running down the illiterate and poor people in America. JBL said when he returns next week he will come back stronger than ever and JBL guarantees that he will make a statement.

Triple H confronts Eddie Guerrero

The WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero comes out to a great ovation. What a match he had against The Undertaker at SummerSlam. Eddie got a mic and discussed his reign which has now lasted 6 months. He’s had one of the most toughest reigns ever and he’s beaten the very best the WWE has to offer. From guys like Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Kane, Edge, Booker T and the most toughest challenge of his career was beating The Undertaker. Eddie thinks he never felt the same again after going into a battle against the legendary Undertaker, a man who he has huge respect for and Eddie said it was an honour to go out there and wrestle The Undertaker. Some day they will meet again. Eddie was going to then make an accouncement when suddenly the lights go out and the gong strikes. The Undertaker makes his way down to the ring. The lights are back on and The Undertaker takes the mic off Eddie. Undertaker does his cut throat signal and Undertaker challenged Eddie to a rematch next week. They have a staredown and Eddie accepts. The lights go out and now they are back on and The Undertaker has disappeared. Eddie said he wasn’t expecting that but he’s more than ready for next week. Eddie then plugs his dvd which is going to release next month. He shows footage of his dvd including his work in ECW, WCW and his rise to the top in the WWE.

HHH’s music hits as he came out to interrupt Eddie. HHH sarcastically congratulates Eddie on his big win at SummerSlam and for his upcoming dvd. HHH extends his hand for a handshake and shook Eddie’s hand. HHH started mocking Eddie because this is the first time ever Eddie is having a dvd dedicated to him. HHH being an ego maniac starts bragging about himself, how great he is and the amount of 5 star matches he’s had you would need millions of dvds dedicated to The Game, HHH. HHH has a big smirk on his face and claims that he is the greatest professional wrestler alive today. Now all the guys that Eddie has defeated weren’t even in HHH’s league and HHH said Eddie forgot to include a chapter in the dvd and that’s the end of Eddie’s reign because very soon it will be Game Over. Eddie puts the belt down and HHH tells him to calm down he was only having some fun. HHH then sarcastically applauds Eddie for the way how he fools everyone with his lying, stealing and cheating tactics. He certainly got one over The Undertaker by outsmarting him. HHH said it makes him laugh that Eddie has been champion for 6 months, it really does but does that make Eddie the best in this business, hell no it doesn’t. HHH states that he came here to turn Smackdown from a minor league show to a major league show. With a guy like Eddie Guerrero representing Smackdown as champion it will remain as a minor league show but HHH said he’s going to change that. HHH bragged about giving Eddie’s Latino amigo Rey Mysterio a major beating at SummerSlam and now he’s going to change the landscape of Smackdown.

To quote an overrated star who’s supposedly famous here in Canada, HHH says he is the greatest wrestler there is, there was and there ever will be. HHH went on for far too long and gets booed heavily. Eddie then has a smirk on his face and tells HHH that he knows what exactly HHH is trying to do, being an egomaniac and trying to put Latino Heat down but it’s ok he’s feeling good homey. He feels great because he’s the WWE Champion and HHH isn’t. Eddie said HHH has been empty handed since WrestleMania, orrale vato. Eddie then mentioned Rey Mysterio, he’s familia and he’s not here tonight but when he returns he’s gonna embarrass you holmes. HHH was furious and Eddie tells HHH he just got one over HHH and HHH didn’t see it coming. HHH didn’t understand what Eddie meant so Eddie shows HHH that he just stole HHH’s watch and his wallet. HHH didn’t realise it at all. HHH was furious and Eddie starts laughing. HHH demanded that Eddie gives him his watch and wallet back. Eddie said he was just having some fun, just like HHH made fun of him so Eddie hands it back to him but also told HHH to turn around. HHH turned around and suddenly Rey Mysterio is on the apron and delivers a springboard hurracanrana to send HHH out of the ring. Eddie said HE LIED about Mysterio not being here tonight and Mysterio challenged HHH to a SummerSlam rematch tonight. HHH grabbed a mic and said there is nothing that I would like more than to embarrass you again but the fact is I don’t need to prove to you again. Eddie asks Rey is the so called greatest professional wrestler alive today, HHH a chicken? Eddie and Rey cut jokes on HHH and HHH finally ends up accepting Mysterio’s challenge for tonight. HHH points at Rey telling him he will see him in the ring later on tonight.

Backstage Josh Matthews interviews Maven. Maven discussed his chances in the cruiserweight tournament. He feels great, he managed to drop a few pounds to get on the cruiserweight limit. Backstage Chavo gloats over his win in Heyman’s office and told Heyman no matter what he gives him he will always deliver because he is the best cruiserweight champion of all time. It didn’t matter to him who wins the tournament. Kidman came into the office and complained that Chavo cheated so he deserves a rematch. Shannon Moore came in and complained that Kidman cost him the chance to move on to the semi finals. Hardy then went up top, Hardy with a bad knee going up top and connected with a legdrop but couldn’t follow up with a pin because of his knee.

Both men got up exchanging lefts and rights until they knock each other out with a double clothesline. Dawn Marie came down and she has a purse in her hand. Both men are up and Hardy sends Venis into the ropes but Val with a reversal drops Hardy with a spinebuster and gets a 2 count. WWE News and Notes
JBL will soon be forming a stable on Smackdown called The Cabinet. Officials have discussed the idea of having Steven Richards in the group as JBL's lackey. Richards will have a gimmick change which will almost be similar to the role he played in The Rights to Censor.

The following poster has been released for WWEís Unforgiven ppv.

What a great idea to use Richards as part of JBL's Cabinet. You give him the same black slacks, white shirt with black tie, but with a matching black suit, some glasses, a notepad, and there you have it, chief of staff Richards!

Yeah I’m not going to really push him but he would be a good fit in a stable with JBL. It would be better than what he was actually doing in real life. I may add a diva in the stable in the near future. I was thinking of having The Dudleys as part of JBL’s stable but decided against it.

WWE News and Notes

Officials were thinking on whether to turn The Dudleys heel but now they have decided on keeping them as faces. They are expected to receive a tag team title shot soon against Billy Kidman and Paul London.

Carlito Caribbean will be debuting soon, expect to see Carlito making his debut around No Mercy time.

The WWE have resigned former ECW World Heavyweight champion Mike Awesome. Awesome was released from the company two years ago. Awesome is set to return to the company next month and he will be coming to the Smackdown roster.

Rene Dupree will be debuting a new talk show segment called Cafť De Rene this week on Smackdown. This segment will not be long term but will be used during the time Dupree is United States Champion.
