Next week Benoit will get to face an opponent selected by HHH as the game will decide the stipulation. He asks both men he wants no excuses, he wants to test both men before the KOTR ppv. HHH demands to know who Benoit has selected and what type of match it will be? Benoit selects HBK as HHH’s opponent for tonight and states that it will be a lumberjack match. Benoit mocks HHH and vows to make HHH quit at KOTR. He raises the belt in HHH’s face and walks off as HHH looks at Bischoff. The Raw video package plays and the announcers welcome us to the show.
The Rock and Randy Orton confrontration
The Rock’s music hits and the great one comes out to a massive pop and mega chants of Rocky Rocky Rocky from the fans. Finally The Rock has come back to MONTREAL
Huge ovation from the fans. The Rock runs down Eric Bischoff for suspending him. He then runs down Evolution and now that he’s back he guaran-damn-tee’s that he’s going to whoop Evolutions ass. Rock talks about training Eugene and how he is going to become a star. Rock points out that he never had his title shot. He mocks Bischoff and says Bischoff has his head so far up Evolution’s ass. Eric decided to do the number #1 contenders a week before The Rock returned. Rock says last week Evolution all got their candy asses whooped by the great one and Chris Benoit. Rock states that he volunteers to be one of the lumberjacks for Chris Benoit tonight. Rock also declares that he’s entering the battle royal and he’s going to throw 29 jabronis
over the top rope to get a title shot at Vengeance. Rock imitates some of the stars that are competing in the battle royal including Kane, Booker T , Rene Dupree. When Rock gets to Flair he gets interrupted by Randy Orton who comes down to the ring.
Orton looks at Rock and says The Rock should show some respect for legends like The Nature Boy Ric Flair, The Raw GM Eric Bischoff and the legend killer Randy Orton. Orton said he’s sick and tired of seeing The Rock trying to hog the spotlight and run down people on the mic. Rock always goes on about people running their mouth, well Orton claims that Rock and Chris Jericho have the biggest mouths in this business. Orton states that Rock has the biggest ego in this business, he should have been gone a long time ago but he was like Mick Foley who always wanted to come back for some cheap pop from these fans. He calls Rock a third rate movie star. He’s mad at Rock for sticking his nose in Evolution’s business last week, he’s mad at Rock for hitting him with the peoples elbow. Orton states that Rock never learned from his suspension, but now that he’s back he’s got to learn to live with the fact that he isn’t #1 contender anymore. Orton looks at Rock and tells him that he’s still the Intercontinental champion, the longest reigning IC Champ in the last 7 years. Orton vows to have an even longer reign than Rock had as Intercontinental Champion. Orton states that he’s in the King of the Ring now and his last accomplishment was retiring Mick Foley. He beat the so called Hardcore legend at his own game to become the ultimate legend. His next goal will be becoming the KOTR. Something The Rock has never won. Orton states that Rock is jealous of him because he’s more better looking, much more talented than the Rock and he’s already a much more bigger star than The Rock. Rock is now irrelevant and should go back to Hollywood. Orton says he’s the legend killer, he’s Randy Orton, he’s... The Rock cuts Orton off and says IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO YOU ARE.
Do you think the Rock gives a monkeys crap who you are. Rock says you run you’re mouth as if you think you’re better than The Rock, you’re no legend you’re just a punk ass kid who’s going to get his ass whooped by the most electrifying man in sports entertainment today THE ROCK. Orton points out that he already has a match tonight and he’s not here to fight The Rock, it would be beneath him to face a has been like The Rock. This really pissed The Rock off. Orton claims he has way more class than The Rock, he’s better than The Rock. Get a look at greatness Rock. Orton started boasting about his accomplishments so far in the WWE, he’s been here for 2 years and he’s already a legend. He killed the legend of Stone Cold at Survivor Series, a man who always dominated The Rock. Rock was once the youngest Intercontinental champion but at Armageddon 2003, Orton became the youngest Intercontinental champion. What Rock did he did even better. Then at WrestleMania, Rock decided to be Mick Foley’s saviour and Orton beat Foley and Rock and Sock lost. Then at Backlash he ended Mick’s career and now he’s going to make history at KOTR by walking in as Intercontinental Champion and leaving as The KOTR. He’s going to become the only man in history to enter the KOTR and win it as a champion. Orton claims that he’s going to break the Honky Tonk Man’s IC Title reign record. He will win KOTR and will go on to headline SummerSlam and become the world champion. He’s 24 years old and he’s accomplished a lot more than many of the guys in this business at such a young age. So much greatness he has achieved, he’s not even hit his prime yet. He wants the respect he deserves from each and every one of these fans. He wants them to stand up on their feet and respect Randy Orton because soon they will be bowing down to the next KING OF THE RING. He will fulfill his destiny by winning the KOTR. It's going to be Evolution's night and Flair is going to throw The Rock over the top rope in the battle royal.
The Rock reminds Orton that he whooped HHH’s ass at Backlash. Since HHH has an “I Quit Match” at KOTR, The Rock brings up the past and points out that 5 years ago he beat HHH in an “I Quit Match.” That was the first time HHH said “I Quit” and he’s going to say those same words at KOTR. Rock says you wanna talk about accomplishments, Rock gives Orton a huge list of his accomplishments. He talks about headlining WMS, multi time champion, Royal Rumble winner, tag team champion, selling out arenas plus much more. Rock said he was beating the hell out of Mick Foley and HHH in 1999 when Orton didn’t even hit puberty. Orton got pissed off with that comment. Rock says Orton calls himself a legend well that’s a load of monkeys crap. What Orton has done in 2 years is nothing compared to what Rock did in 2 years. Rock states that in his first match at Survivor Series in Madison Square Garden he was a sole survivor. He made history by becoming the youngest Intercontinental Champion.and then fans started to turn on him. he was hated and fans chanted die rocky die but he won the fans over. He went on to become the most electrifying man in sports entertainment today. Now the millions and the millions of Rock’s fans are now chanting his name... ROCKY ROCKY ROCKY.
Rock continues on and states that during those 2 years he became the leader.... infact RULER of the nation, something Orton has not become in Evolution (tries to cause dissension). In 2 years of being in this company, Rock became the WWE Champion, something Orton has never done. Rock became the peoples champ. So next time when you interrupt the great one, JUST BRING IT BITCH
because Orton you are three seconds away from a ROCK BOTTOM. ROCK HITS A ROCK BOTTOM ON ORTON.
Rock’s music hits as he celebrates in the ring and gets an amazing ovation from the fans. Jim Ross says now that was truly electrifying.
Backstage The Rock meets Eugene and Regal. Rock tells Eugene that he’s been so impressed with Eugene, he’s a fan of his. The training he receiving from Rock and Regal has worked and Rock believes Eugene will be a star on Raw. He loved what Eugene did last week when he imitated Vince. The Rock asks Eugene if he wants to kick some ass tonight. Eugene gets excited and claps. Rock tells Regal he’s got this and Eugene is going to be one of the lumberjacks. Regal thinks this is not a good idea for Eugene to go down there later tonight and get involved in this sort of match as one of the lumberjacks. Eric Bischoff certainly won’t like this. Regal informs Eugene to listen to him and not The Rock. Eugene’s uncle Eric will not like to see Eugene go out there, he could get hurt. Regal wants Eugene to stay with him backstage to watch HBK vs HHH on the monitor. Once Eugene hears HHH’s name he gets excited. He wants to go out there later on because HHH and him are alike, they like to play games. Rock gives Eugene a high five as The Rock leaves.
Meanwhile Eric Bischoff is in his office with Coach talking to Teddy Long. Coach asks Eric what is he going to do about the Rock. Eric made Coach one of the lumberjacks for tonight and hoped that some of the lumberjacks beat the hell out of The Rock tonight. Long talks about the battle royal at KOTR. Maven is in it. He approached Maven last week and he’s yet to hear back from him but he will wait until KOTR. If he was managing Maven then Maven would go on to win the battle royal. Eric isn’t taking Long seriously here. Evolution storm into Bischoff’s office. Orton complains to Bischoff after what Rock just did. Orton was going to put his belt on the line tonight but after what just happened, he’s worried that Rock will come down and rob him of his goal of becoming the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time. Bischoff decides that Orton won’t defend his title tonight and it’s a non title match. Orton vows to make a statement tonight. Batista looks at Teddy Long and tells him that he wants to be tested tonight and wants to take on the guy Teddy Long wants to manage and that’s Maven. After he makes an example out of Maven, Long will probably decide to look for someone else to manage. Eric books Maven vs Batista for tonight. HHH whispers something into Bischoff’s ear. Bischoff says it’s a great idea, he approves this idea. Evolution leave and Long asks Eric is everything ok playa? Eric says he’s got everything under control.

Todd Grisham is standing by with HBK. Some of the Montreal fans have still not forgiven HBK. Michaels points out that the last time he faced HHH in a one on one match he kicked HHH’s teeth down his throat and beat him to become the # 1 contender for the world title. 2 weeks ago HHH hit him with the sledgehammer and went on to become the current #1 contender. HBK says tonight is the night for payback and he’s going to get his revenge on HHH. He is going to prove to HHH that he’s still the icon, the headliner, the showstopper and the main event. Michaels also points out that tonight is a good opportunity to see some of his competition in the battle royal at KOTR up and close. He’s going to give them a taste of what’s in store for them at KOTR. Then once he’s done with HHH tonight, then at KOTR he’s going to superkick 29 guys over the top rope to once again become the # 1 contender. Then at Vengeance HBK will once again become the world heavyweight champion.
Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler show some pre-recorded comments from some of the Raw participants that will be competing in the battle Royal at the King of the Ring. We first hear from Maven who talks about his comeback. Now that he’s back he's going to make an impact. When he wins the battle royal at KOTR, it will not be considered a fluke or upset. He eliminated The Undertaker at the Royal Rumble 2 years ago and vows to eliminate Taker again but this time in the battle royal at KOTR. Charlie Haas gives his comments on the battle royal. As this was pre-recorded Haas was still the tag team champion. Haas says it’s going to be a great night for the World’s Greatest Tag Team at KOTR. They will go into the ppv as tag team champions and he will walk out as the #1 contender for the world title and Shelton will leave as the King of the Ring.
Finally we hear from Ric Flair. Flair states that it’s all about Evolution and that it will be Evolution's night when HHH becomes the new WHC, and either Orton or Batista will become the 2004 WWE King of the Ring. Flair predicts that we will see an all Evolution semi final at KOTR. Then Flair claims that we will see another all Evolution match at Vengeance. That’s right, Flair vows to win the battle royal. It will be a big night for Raw as the Smackdown brand stands no chance. Not only will we see a King from Raw which will be an Evolution member, we will see a #1 contender from Raw and that's going to be him. Flair believes he still has one more run in him as champion and how it would be an honour to face his Evolution leader HHH for the World Heavyweight Championship. Now if somehow Benoit manages to beat the game, which Flair believes will never happen, then he will be the man to take the title away from Benoit at Vengeance. At KOTR it does not matter who he has to go through, even if it is The Rock or HBK or even The Undertaker, he will go through all of them because Evolution is your solution WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

but Michaels counters with a backdrop. Michaels goes to the top rope and hits a diving elbow drop. He covers and HHH kicks out at 2 ½. What a match up. HHH reverses a whip but Michaels ends up nailing HHH with a flying forearm smash and both men are down. No wait... Michaels kips up. Michaels tunes up for the band, here we go sweet chin music time. HHH ducks the superkick
and backdrops Michaels to the floor. HHH distracts the referee while the heel lumberjacks stomp away at HBK, the face lumberjacks go over and stop the heels from doing further damage to HBK. HBK is back in. HHH starts stomping away at Michaels in the corner. He whips Michaels to the other corner and HHH runs into a boot by HBK, HBK hits the superkick on HHH and falls on top of him. 1...2...3.
He got him HBK wins. He defeated HHH again. HBK gets a mixed reaction here from the fans.
Winner: Shawn Michaels
Immediately all the heels around ringside get in the ring and try to jump HBK. The face lumberjacks get inside to come to HBK’s rescue. Everybody went wild, complete chaos in the ring as an all out brawl ensued. Benoit locks in the sharpshooter on HHH and HHH is tapping. Look at this Eugene is hitting some lefts and rights on some lower midcarders. Rock and Shelton lay the Smackdown on Orton. Jericho and Batista exchange rights. Jericho ducks a clothesline and dumps Batista to the floor. Eugene hits a Rock Bottom on Coach. During this brawl A-Train got hurt pretty bad, he was dumped to the floor and hurt his knee. Batista kicks Benoit in the face and gets HHH out of the ring. Evolution retreat up the ramp. HBK clears some of the heels out of the ring by taking them out with the superkick as they go over the top rope to the floor. HBK means business and could this be a sign of HBK winning the battle royal at the KOTR. Michaels bounces off the ropes and takes out five guys with a suicide dive. Most of the faces are in the ring as the crowd is going wild here. Evolution help HHH up as HHH has a mic and wants to say something. HHH ends up falling down again. Since HHH is so out of it, on the ramp he gives Orton the mic. Randy Orton states that it hasn’t been a good night for Evolution but from next week Evolution will be back on top again. He announces next week’s pick your poison match for his leader. Orton makes the announcement that Benoit will face THE ROCK NEXT WEEK in a non title match.
Earlier on Bischoff agreed to the match and Orton declares the stipulations for this match. He is going to be the special ring announcer for this match, The Nature Boy Ric Flair will be the special guest time keeper. The animal Batista will be the special enforcer for this match and finally the special guest referee for this match will be HHH. Flair says Wooooooo!!!!
Evolution smile as Benoit and Rock stare each other down as Raw goes off the air.

SummerSlam Press Conference
Toronto June 1, 2004
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon announced today that this year’s SummerSlam ppv will take place at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Sunday August 15. It will be the biggest SummerSlam of all time. For the first time ever, SummerSlam will be a 4 hour event. Joining Vince at the press conference were several WWE superstars such as Triple H, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Edge, Trish Stratus, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, Jim Ross and Torrie Wilson. McMahon said the WWE and its Superstars are excited to be bringing SummerSlam to Toronto. This marks only the second time that SummerSlam has been held outside of the United States -the first time was in 1992 when the event was held in the UK. Tickets for the event go on sale on Saturday June 5.
Since WrestleMania 20 was a 5 hour event, I’ve decided to give SummerSlam a WrestleMania style show and it will be a 4 hour show. The aim is to make this the biggest SummerSlam of all time packed with mega matches.
