WWE Friday Night Smackdown Preview- 15/7/05- Phoenix, Arizona

We are now less than two weeks away from Smackdown’s next Pay Per View offering, The Great American Bash and this week the stars of Friday night will head to Phoenix as the race for the WWE Championship continues to heat up. A huge main event has been signed by General Manager Teddy Long that will pit the Legend Killer Randy Orton against fellow title challenger John Bradshaw Layfield.

Orton has been on Layfield’s heels ever since he was ambushed backstage several weeks ago, with the Legend Killer believing Layfield to be one of two prime suspects along with Kurt Angle. Orton has since gotten a small measure of payback on Angle, however he has yet to strike down the Wall Street Warrior. On Smackdown this week, Orton gets that opportunity but it is also an opportunity for Bradshaw who alongside Orlando Jordan scored a huge win last week in the Fatal 4 Way Tag Team match up, involving all four WWE title participants come the Bash. Another win this Friday for JBL would see the momentum really on his side as we head to Buffalo in just nine nights.

Also confirmed to compete this week is another WWE title participant at the Bash and that man is Kurt Angle. Angle once again got heated last week with the WWE Champion John Cena and you have to wonder whether these two will be kept apart ahead of the Pay Per View. Angle will be in action against another title contender for the Bash, the United States title number one contender, Matt Hardy. A win tonight for Hardy would no doubt be potentially the biggest of his career and give him a huge confidence boost ahead of his showdown with Orlando Jordan in Buffalo. Kurt Angle will not want to suffer any kind of blip though before getting his WWE Title opportunity so this one will no doubt be hotly contested. Who will come out on top? And who will take a big step towards championship gold at the Bash?

The WWE Tag Team Champions will also be in action as Mercury and Nitro take on Super Crazy and Psicosis of the Mexicools!! MNM have continued to one up their rivals Rey Mysterio and Rob Van Dam in recent weeks and as the time ticks down heading towards the Bash, another win here for the champions may well be the final nail in the coffin of their veteran opponents confidence. The Mexicools have too been on a roll, however that came to an end last week as Crazy and Psicosis were defeated by the Pitbulls, Jamie Noble and Kid Kash. Kash and Noble have come to the aid of Chris Masters of late in dealing with his and the Mexicools issues. Will Masters and his companions have any say in the outcome tonight or will the Mexicools fly high once again?

The Hurricane will also be in action this Friday night as he takes on Brian Kendrick in a big time Cruiserweight contest. Hurricane has promised Paul London that he will not listen to anything Chavo Guerrero says and he will not take on board anything Chavo Guerrero does in trying to turn his fortunes around ahead of their championship bout at the Bash. London, who defeated Hurricane at the Smackdown: Night of Champions special has issued Hurricane a rematch for the Bash, on the condition that they do things the right way. Will we see any change in Hurricane’s opinion tonight or will Friday night’s resident superhero stick to his principles?

The ongoing saga between Booker T, Rhyno and Carlito will deepen this Friday also as we have learned that Booker will kick off Smackdown and will call out his former friend, the Man Beast, Rhyno. Rhyno has in recent weeks turned on his friend, citing that Booker was taking his opportunities and keeping him out of the spotlight. Rhyno has vowed to no longer let that be the case and he will take action on whoever steps in his way, right now those two men are the former WCW Champion and the Apple Spitter. Will Rhyno listen to what Booker has to say this Friday night? What exactly will Booker have on his mind to dish out at his one time close friend? And will Carlito show his face, having backed down from both men in recent weeks? It will no doubt be a combustible situation
.

Confirmed for Smackdown:

Randy Orton vs. John Bradshaw Layfield

WWE Tag Team Champions MNM vs. The Mexicools; Super Crazy and Psicosis

Kurt Angle vs. Matt Hardy

The Hurricane vs. Brian Kendrick

Plus;

We will hear from Booker T
!

MONDAY NIGHT RAW PREVIEW

New Champions
Last night at Elimination Chamber, Wade Barrett beat the odds and survived the Elimination Chamber to win the World Heavyweight Championship for the first time. After the match, Sheamus made it clear who he wanted in the match. Tonight on RAW, Sheamus promises to be in the arena and expects to see Wade Barrett. Teddy Long decided to give Sheamus a match, when he takes on one of the same men that Wade Barrett had to beat to survive the Elimination Chamber: The Big Show.

Also, CM Punk and Chris Jericho was the final two men in the Elimination Chamber for the WWE Championship. As Jericho was dead from exhaustion, his shoulders hit the mat for the three count. At the same time, CM Punk tapped out to the Figure Four Lock. As the refs tried to figure out who to award it to, John Laurinaitis stripped CM Punk of the win and awarded Chris Jericho the title. CM Punk already told WWE.com that he will in fact be in the arena tonight and plans on addressing the WWE Universe about the situation.

Intercontinental Championship Bout
Last night, John Laurinaitis said that he needed a chance to see Cody Rhodes in action, just to see if he is ready to carry the company. 24 hours removed from the Elimination Chamber, Cody Rhodes will but his Intercontinental Championship on the line when he faces his brother Goldust!

Board of Directors Decision
Nothing is safe for John Laurinaitis yet. After the Board of Directors made the decision to keep John Laurinaitis as Interim General Manager of RAW, he recieved a phone call from somebody at WWE Headquarters. WWE.com has gotten word that somebody from the Board of Directors will be at RAW and discussing the future of John Laurinaitis and the future of the General Manager position of RAW.

Undertaker vs. Triple H Showdown
Last night in John Cena vs. Kane in the Ambulance Match, Triple H watched as The Undertaker got involved into the match. To make things worst, Undertaker and Kane stole the ambulance that held John Cena. Then Undertaker appeared behind Triple H and chokeslammed him. Undertaker left the message: WrestleMania or no John Cena. What will the WWE COO do? Will he give in to the threats of the Undertaker or will he put the entire company's revenue at stake for his pride?

Confirmed For Tonight
Sheamus vs. Big Show

Intercontinental Championship
Cody Rhodes(c) vs. Goldust

Jefferson Convention Centre ~ Birmingham, Alabama

This week, Friday Night Smackdown comes to you from the Jefferson Convention Centre in Birmingham, Alabama, in front of over 17,000 members of the WWE Universe! Tonight, Smackdown General Manager Theodore Long has told us that he has a blockbuster announcement regarding his plans for the World Heavyweight Championship currently held by Randy Orton come Night of Champions in just over three weeks time! What Mr Long has in store no one but he knows, but he has informed us all that tonight we will find out who the champion going into Buffalo will be. Randy Orton is set to defend the title tonight against the man that he has battled for the gold with throughout the entire summer, "Captain Charisma" Christian. Christian won the title for the first time back in May, but lost it to Orton only 5 days later. Since then, the two ring warriors have fought tooth and nail over the coveted belt and many thought this storied rivalry was over when Orton defeated Christian in a No Holds Barred Match at Summerslam less than two weeks away. However, there is an extra twist for tonight's title match, as due to the events of last week on Smackdown, the championship will be defended under FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE RULES! The events which prompted Mr Long to make this decision was when Orton delivered a devastating RKO onto the roof of a car last week after Christian was about to lay his hands on the General Manager following a disagreement. These two men will definitely leave it all in not just the ring, but the entire arena tonight in Birmingham, but who will walk into Night of Champions with the World Heavyweight Championship?

Two other men that have been having an extremely physical war as of late is "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry and "The Celtic Warrior" and former WWE Champion Sheamus. The two behemoths collided at Summerslam, with Henry coming out victorious, despite the win being due to count out after Henry ploughed Sheamus through the ring barrier. In the main event of Smackdown last week, the two met in a 'rematch', which was fought to a double count out, but the lasting image that will be engraved in the WWE Universe's brains is of Henry standing tall over his adversary after delivering an emphatic World's Strongest Slam through the broadcast announce table. The devastating move has left Sheamus with severely bruised ribs, and has rendered him unable to compete in Birmingham tonight. But we have been informed that he will be in attendance and has requested some time to address his current condition and Mark Henry. The "World's Strongest Man" will also be in the JCC tonight. There is still a lot of business to settle between the two titans, and tonight we may see some important developments in this story.

We also know that there will be a very important guest on Smackdown tonight, that being the COO of the WWE, Triple H. Since taking his position of office, "The Game" has scarcely appeared on the blue brand, but we understand that he is here tonight strictly on WWE Board of Directors business tonight. What this entails we do not know, as there has been a big urge to hush any possible rumours regarding the nature of Triple H's appearance tonight. Make sure to tune into Smackdown to find out what the important business is.

We will also see some Diva action tonight on Smackdown, and it is the Divas Champion, Kelly Kelly that will be competing. Her opponent? Look no further than one half of the Divas of Doom, Natalya. The two Divas were involved in tag team action on Raw this past Monday, with the champion being on the receiving end of a Glam Slam from Natalya's partner Beth Phoenix. Many have called for Phoenix to be named the number one contender for the purple championship, due her recent run of victories, none more so vocal than Phoenix and Natalya, as well as Michael Cole on commentary. Tonight, Natalya has the chance to get it done where Phoenix could not at Summerslam, and show Phoenix what "real women's wrestling is".

Last week, we saw the very first "Cody Rhodes Intercontinental Championship Challenge". The concept is simple; any Superstar that is not from the United States is allowed a match with Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes. If they win, Rhodes and his associate Ted DiBiase Jr have promised the challenger a match against Rhodes for the coveted and prestigious title. This new concept has received mixed reviews after it's first week, as some call it unfair on the American Superstars, whilst some have said that is embarrassing other nations. Young Japanese Superstar, Yoshi Tatsu was the first man to rise to the challenge last week, but the youngster was no match for Rhodes, being dispatched in little over a minute. With the vast amount of foreign talent available in the ranks of the WWE, will Rhodes find a more formidable challenger tonight?

Also tonight, we see former tag team partners and champions Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel face off. The two met last week on WWE Superstars, with Gabriel coming out on top, will we see the same result tonight?

Confirmed for Smackdown

World Heavyweight Championship
Falls Count Anywhere Match

"The Viper" Randy Orton © vs "Captain Charisma" Christian

Theodore Long's Big Announcement

Intercontinental Championship Challenge
Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes w/ Ted DiBiase vs ???

WWE COO Triple H is in attendance

Divas Champion Kelly Kelly vs Natalya w/ Beth Phoenix

Sheamus speaks out

"The One Man Rock Band" Heath Slater vs Justin Gabriel

Plus much, much more!

WWE Monday Night Raw Preview- 18/7/05- Little Rock, Arkansas

Last week’s Raw saw yet another despicable display from Raw’s General Manager Eric Bischoff as he initiated a scathing plan to strike down Chris Jericho and it involved not just Bischoff’s recent go to monster, Kane or Jericho’s very own recent rival but it involved none other than the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels. The Big Red Machine Kane was scheduled to face Jericho but before the match could get underway, Bischoff reared his face and announced that the match would now be No Disqualifications AND Shawn Michaels would be forced to be the Special Guest Referee. It was a no win situation for the Shostopper as well as Jericho who in the end succumbed to a choke slam, a briefcase shot AND a spear from Edge before the final nail in the coffin being some Sweet Chin Music from an extremely remorseful Shawn Michaels.

Michaels would then count to three and give Kane the victory and the Heartbreak Kid knows that if he does that very same act at Summerslam we will crown a new World Champion when Kane meets Batista who is still currently sitting on the injured list. What will Bischoff have up his sleeve tonight and in particular what will have up his sleeve for Shawn Michaels? What we do know is that Chris Jericho, despite his beat down last week will be in attendance tonight and he WILL call out Shawn Michaels. Jericho will surely have a whole hell of a lot to say to Michaels following last week. Will Michaels finally show some emotion and reveal just why he’s obliging with everything the evil GM says? Or will Jericho, like the rest of us, be left searching for more answers?

Also confirmed for tonight is a big time main event! In a Vengeance rematch, Mark Jindrak will go one on one with the World’s Largest Athlete, Big Show. Jindrak dismantled the giant at Vengeance and Show has gone out of his way to get another opportunity to right a wrong, even threatening Eric Bischoff last week into making this match. Will Show get his revenge here tonight, or will he be the next victim in Bischoff’s firing line? And can Mark Jindrak prove his win at Vengeance was no fluke and that he is the total package?

Arn Anderson has been on a lot of people’s minds since last Monday’s Raw, following a heinous assault at the hands of Christian. Captain Charisma invited Double A to be a guest on his Peep Show but it turned out to be a grave mistake by Anderson as Christian inflicted a devastating beat down which left Anderson’s good friend Ric Flair absolutely seething. We can confirm that Arn Anderson IS on the mend following the assault and we can also confirm that both Christian and Flair will be in Little Rock this Monday night. There will no doubt be fireworks between the two as we inch closer and closer towards their epic showdown at Summerslam.

A World Tag Team title match is confirmed for tonight as well, the Dudley Boyz will defend their gold against the dangerous Basham Brothers. It was confirmed earlier in the week that over the next three weeks, the Bashams, the Entity and the Platform to Perfection will all get championship opportunities no matter who the champions may be. It could well be a very testing few weeks for the Dudleyz or a very brief title run for the Bashams. Who will walk out with the gold?

We are also guaranteed to hear from the returning Lita who shocked everyone last week by returning and setting her sights on the destructive Women’s Champion, Victoria. What will the Daredevil Diva have to say about her return and will Victoria face her challenge?

And finally, Charlie Haas stunned the Entity last week when he defeated their leader and Intercontinental Champion, Muhammad Hassan. Haas’ partner Shelton Benjamin has been relentless in trying to gain a title shot, however he has fallen short every time. Haas meanwhile has been relentless in trying to gain a Tag team title shot, wanting to divert Shelton’s attentions away from Intercontinental glory. Having scored a win last week, has Haas now propelled himself into the title hunt or is his main focus still on being the World’s Greatest Tag Team?

So many questions that we hope will be answered live this Monday night on Raw, it’s must see!!

Confirmed for Raw:

Chris Jericho will call out Shawn Michaels;

Big Show vs. Mark Jindrak

World Tag Team Championships:
Dudley Boyz© vs. Basham Brothers

Plus;

We will hear from the returning Lita!!

And;

Ric Flair and Christian will be in Little Rock

WrestleMania X8 Match Card So Far

WWF Undisputed Championship: The Rock © vs. Triple H

Their Road to WrestleMania........
The Background
Triple H won the 2002 Royal Rumble earning himself the right to face the WWF Undisputed Champion at WrestleMania. However he had a road block going into No Way Out, but Triple H successfully defended his “spot” when he beat Kurt Angle after the special referee Stephanie McMahon was knocked out, allowing an unbiased referee to count the fall for Triple H.

The RAW after No Way Out started with Stephanie McMahon calling out Triple H and trying to “win him back” as she wants to be part of the main event of WrestleMania. However Triple H sees straight through her and he sees that she just wants the attention of being in the main event. Irate that her desperate pleas for attention have not worked she slaps Triple H. Hunter retaliates with a Pedigree!!

Following No Way Out, then WWF Undisputed Champion; Chris Jericho, came down to the ring and gloated about his victory of Austin the previous night. Knowing that Austin was not in the arena, Y2J called him out and offered him a rematch. However Ric Flair (Co-Owner of the WWF) came down to the ring and told Jericho that if he wants to defend his title so badly, then he will tonight, against the man who defeated The Undertaker last night – The Rock!

During the title bout between Rock and Jericho. Mr. McMahon tried to interfere but Flair took down McMahon on the outside of the ring before any interference could happen. The confrontation between the Co-Owners distracted Jericho for a split second, allowing The Rock to hit Jericho with the Rock Bottom and get the fall to become the NEW WWF Undisputed Champion.

The Rivalry
The build up between The Rock and Triple H had several different threads. One of the main focus points began with Triple H saying that even though they are both fan favourites and that he has gained respect for the fans, he reminds Rock that he is still “The Game” and still “The Cerebral Assassin” and that when it comes down to it in the end he is the best in the business.

The second thread to this rivalry comes when it starts to be noted that in, the past three WrestleMania main events, The Rock has failed to win. More importantly it is noted that two of those times he entered the WWF Champion and lost each time. Secondly it is also noted that the time he entered as the challenger he lost to Triple H (the man he is facing at this years main event). The Rock seems to be having doubts and Hunter plays the psychological card very well. This brings out the very intense Rocky we don't see all the time.

Triple H also noted that he cannot afford to lose. He said all the hard work and effort it took to return after the injury he had, followed by the hard work it took to win the Rumble, keep the “spot” at No Way Out and deal with Stephanie McMahon, was too much to lose at WrestleMania. He said that it his time, to once again, be in the MAN in the WWF.

Physicality between the two men has been sparse. Whilst there have been some heated promos between the two, neither Rock or Hunter have had any matches against each other, in fact they have often been teamed up in the weeks leading up to Maina. This has at times brought about intense face to face confrontations.

The last Raw before mania involved a confrontation in the middle of the ring, within which The Rock and Triple H shook hands to what seemed like confirm that there was no personal issues between them two and it was all about being the WWF Undisputed Champion. However later on in the show we see Stephaine McMahon (who hasn't been seen since HHH pedigree'd her 4 weeks ago), walking out of The Rocks locker room.

A few days later at the last SD!, Triple H calls out The Rock to find out what Stephanie McMahon was doing in his locker room. The Rock says he was not in the locker room when she was in there. Triple H is getting furious and disbelieves The Rock. Eventually The Rock has had enough of Triple H's accusations and they begin brawling. Finally Stephanie appears on the top of the rampway, she has a mic and starts to shout out Hunter's name. Triple H stops brawling with The Rock and looks up at Stephanie, but this gives The Rock a moment to catch Triple H off guard lay him out with the Rock Bottom! Stephanie looks pleased and smiles at the Rock whilst clapping, The Rock looks back with what seems to be a puzzled look on his face.
