WWE Monday Night Raw Preview June 7th, 2004
Despite so much happening on Raw at the moment, there’s one burning question on everybody’s mind. Will this week’s rendition of the flagship show of the WWE be ‘Sheriff’ Stone Cold Steve Austin’s last Raw? That question won’t get answered until Vengeance when Austin’s representative Shawn Michaels, goes up against Eric Bischoff’s representative, Bill Goldberg. As the orders of the owner of the WWE Vince McMahon, if Michaels wins, Austin has full control of Raw. However if Goldberg wins, then Eric Bischoff has full control over Raw, which would surely see Austin banished from Raw forever. What will happen is a mystery to everybody, but the scene has been set for Austin to do as he pleases tonight. This is due to Eric Bischoff remaining in hospital after Scott Steiner rammed his head through the office wall last week. Both Bischoff and Steiner (due to suspension) won’t be at Raw, but Austin will be running the show, and Michaels and Goldberg will both be in the arena. Things could quite literally explode at any moment.
One thing Austin has voiced his disapproval of over the past few weeks is so many wrestlers not doing what they are paid to do, wrestle. That won’t happen this week. The World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit has been willing to take on any and all comers since winning the title back at WrestleMania. And he’ll have to do so again when he goes one on one with Lance Storm in Raw’s main event. And Benoit’s opponents at Vengeance, Triple H and Randy Orton will both also be in action. Randy Orton will be going one on one with Lance Storm’s opponent for Vengeance in Chris Jericho. Whilst ‘The Game’ Triple H will look to show that he’s that damn good, when he gets a chance to shut up a man who has been a thorn in his side since making his debut two weeks ago, Nick Dinsmore. With Benoit, Triple H and Orton all looking to send a message to each other before their triple threat match at Vengeance; with Storm wanting to prove he’s as good as he thinks he is; with Jericho wanting to turn his bad luck around; and Dinsmore wanting to make a name for himself, these matches all have the potential to steal the show.
After being extremely vocal heading into his WWE Intercontinental title match against Maven at Backlash, Matt Hardy hasn’t been as vocal this time around. Some believe this is because Hardy is still shell shocked after being defeated by the champion at Backlash. Maven has been the definition of a fighting champion, taking on anybody and everybody, and refuses to be bullied by Hardy. Either way, we will hear from Matt Hardy tonight, and he has promised to explain exactly why he has such an issue with Maven. It’s guaranteed that Maven will be listening to every word, and his reaction to Hardy’s words will definitely be one to watch.
This is just the tip of the ice berg really, as this week on Raw we will also get an update from Rosey on the condition of his best friend, The Hurricane. For those who missed last week’s show, The Hurricane slipped off of the top rope, and landed head first on the outside of the ring. He has yet to be allowed to leave the hospital. Not only is this on the agenda, but we’ll see The Dudley Boyz go up against Rodney Mack and Stevie Richards, as well as Kane and Jazz in action.
There will also be appearances from many of the other usual suspects, as the Raw superstars make one last stop on their individual quests for Vengeance...
