Default WCW 2000 - The New Beginning

WCW 2000 Ė The New Beginning

This BTB will start right at the beginning of the year 2000 in World Championship Wrestling. I believe this point is a good starting date to try and clear up the mess that WCW had become. The roster is still solid due to the Radicalz not leaving and Bret Hart not sustaining his career ending injury at the hands of Goldberg, at Starrcade. The company is in a bad way after losing approximately $15 million dollars in 1999. Timewarner wants to see WCW return to some of the success they saw between 1996-1998. Therefore they will be looking to cut costs, a large amount of releases have already been announced along with many more coming in the future. Also Vince Russo has been demoted from his position as Head of Creative. Eric Bischoff has been reinstated as Head of Creative with a team to help him book the company. Vince Russo, JJ Dillon, Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair and Mike Tenay make up the five man team to help Bischoff. So this is the new beginning for WCW.

~Starrcade Results~

The Mamalukes W/ Tony Marinara defeated Disco Inferno and Lash Leroux at 9.40.

Madusa went over Evan Karagias W/ Spice to win the WCW Cruiserweight Title at 3.32.

Norman Smiley beat Meng to retain his WCW Hardcore Championship at 4.29.

The Revolution (Shane Douglas, Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko and Asya) bested Jim Duggan and the Varsity Club (Mike Rotunda, Kevin Sullivan and Rick Steiner) at 4.53.

Vampiro W/The Misfits defeated Doctor Death Steve Williams by disqualification at 5.02

Vampiro W/The Misfits bested Oklahoma at 2.52.

Creative Control (Gerald and Patrick) and Curt Hennig bested Harlem Heat (Stevie Ray and Booker T) and Midnight at 7.52.

Jeff Jarrett went over Dustin Rhodes at 11.52 in a Bunkhouse Brawl.

Diamond Dallas Page defeated David Flair at 3.53 in a Crowbar on a pole match.

Sting W/Elizabeth beat Lex Luger at 5.31 via disqualification.

Kevin Nash bested Sid Vicious at 7.00 in a Powerbomb match.

Chris Benoit defended the WCW U.S Heavyweight Championship in a ladder match against Jeff Jarrett at 10.15.

Bret Hart defeated Goldberg in a No DQ WCW World Heavyweight Championship match at 12.08.

The first Nitro of 2000 is going to be a review show, which will give the new booking team time to plan out the coming months of storylines. This will mean that the first show of the new era in World Championship Wrestling will be Monday Nitro 10/1/00. This means that the new booking team will have one Nitro and one Thunder to promote Souled Out, the next pay per view event.

Looks solid so far. I've never seen anything from you, and this looks like a good post for someone relatively new. The cuts are good and the majority of them were worth nothing, so good call. You've still got a huge roster, which has it's benefits and disadvantages which i'm sure you're aware of. The beginning of 2000, like you said, is a good time to pick up from so I look forward to seeing what you can do with WCW.

Good luck, and i'll be reviewing!

I will definitely look and see your show, and I'm interested to change some things in this timeline as it was really a big mess on the real WCW at that time! Looking forward for that, bro!

Default Re: WCW 2000 - The New Beginning

WCW Monday Nitro 1/10/00

We see a video package of the history of World Championship Wrestling, highlighting some of the key wrestlers and moments in the companies past. Dusty Rhodes, the Road Warriors, Ric Flair, Sting, Vader, Hulk Hogan, the Steinerís, the Four Horsemen and the New World Order are all shown. Then the video changes and it begins to highlight different wrestlers such as Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Rey Mysterio Jr, Perry Saturn, Vampiro, Chris Kanyon, Billy Kidman, and Eddy Guerrero and so on. Then when the video package finishes we see the text ďWCW, A New BeginningĒ.

The cameras pan around the arena in Buffalo New York, and finishes on the brand new ramp way as Eric Bischoff strides out from the back wearing a smart grey suit. He gets a mixed reception from the crowd as he climbs into the ring and gets handed a microphone.

Eric Bischoff: I cannot begin to describe how I feel to be back in a WCW ring. And you know that I never struggle for words.

Bischoff smiles.

Eric Bischoff: You see I got a phone call the other week from Ted Turner and Brad Seigel, they both stated that World Championship Wrestling has been declining as of late and I couldnít agree more. So tonight spells the time for a new beginning in World Championship Wrestling. Tonight is where we recreate professional wrestling, because you deserve to see the best product in the world.

The fans cheer Bischoff.

Eric Bischoff: I got told that when I came back to WCW I would have to deliver the ratings and the profits but more importantly I was told to give you the fans the hottest wrestling action available today.

Cheap pop once more.

Eric Bischoff: So as of tonight it begins. I have a few things that I need to address as of right now WCW has three vacant championships. The World Tag Team titles, the Cruiserweight title and the Television championship. So tonight we will see the start of World Tag Team and Cruiserweight title tournament which will continue on Thunder and will culminate at Souled Out in six days. Also this Sunday we will see a ten man over the top rope battle royal to crown a brand new WCW Television Champion. How about that?

The fans cheer for the announcements made by Bischoff.

Eric Bischoff: So sit back and enjoy the brand new World Championship Wrestling.

Commercial break

We come back from the break to see David Penzer standing by.

David Penzer: Ladies and gentlemen this is the opening contest live on Monday Nitro, it is an opening round match up in the WCW World Tag Team Championship tournament. Introducing first from Tijuana Mexico, Psychosis and Juventud Guerrera.

Psychosis and Juventud make their way down the ramp way and to the ring. They get a few cheers from the crowd.

David Penzer: And their opponents, accompanied to the ring by Shane Helms, they are Evan Karagias and Shannon Moore, here are 3 Count.

Sing along with Three Count hits as the three men walk towards the ring receiving large amounts of boos from the crowd here in New York.

Match one, WCW Tag Team Title Tournament: Juventud Guerrera and Psychosis Vs 3 Count W/Shane Helms.

Juventud and Shannon Moore kick things off. The two men create a fast pace in the early goings with plenty of mat work as well close near falls. As the match continues Shane Helms gets involved more in the match up from the ringside area, distracting the referee and attacking both Psychosis and Juventud. The finish comes when Evan Karagias and Juventud are fighting amongst themselves in the ring. Moore and Helms are discussing tactics on the arena floor; Psychosis runs and hits a suicide plancha over the top rope onto both men. The fans pop for the death defying manoeuvre. Meanwhile Juventud manages to lock on the Juvi Driver on Karagias for the three count at 4.19.

Juventud Guerrera and Psychosis advance to the next round of the World Tag Team Tournament as 3 Count look dejected at ringside. The camera pans backstage to where Bret The Hitman Hart makes his way into the arena with his WCW World Heavyweight Championship around his waist. The cameras then cut away to the Filthy Animals locker room.

Konnan: Billy, you ready for this match tonight?

Billy Kidman: No worries K-Dawg, David Flair and Crowbar will be no trouble for us.

Torrie sits next to Kidman and smiles at the confidence that Kidman portrays.

Billy Kidman: You want to see me with a WCW World Tag Team strap around my waist baby?

Torrie Wilson: Yeah Billy, I canít wait.

Billy Kidman: Hey Rey, you been told when your Cruiserweight tournament match is?

Rey Mysterio Jr: Yeah, Evan Karagias on Thunder, hopefully I can advance on to Souled Out. The Filthy Animals with all the gold will be just too much.

Eddy Guerrero: You guys mind if Chavo comes in here tonight to get ready for his match?

Billy Kidman: Crazy Chavo your nephew Chavo?

Eddy Guerrero: Common Billy, heís not crazy, just a bit different.

Konnan: So what was all that thing about Pepe then Eddy?

Eddy Guerrero: He went through a tough patch but heís changed guys, just give him a chance for me.

Billy Kidman: Yeah ok then, but as long as he doesnít bring that horse with him.

Eddy gets up with a smile on his face and leaves the locker room. He walks outside to find Chavo dancing around with his wooden horse Pepe.

Eddy Guerrero: The rest of the Animals have said you can come in with us but you have to leave Pepe behind Chavo.

Chavo Guerrero: But I canít leave him outside, itís cold.

Eddy Guerrero: Just leave him here he will be fine.

Eddy walks back into the locker room and Chavo looks confused as he continues to dance with Pepe.

Commercial break

We come back from the break and we cut to ringside.

Tony Schiavone: Welcome to the new beginning of World Championship Wrestling folks. What an action packed night so far as well. We have heard from the reinstated WCW President Eric Bischoff at the top of the show.

Mike Tenay: And he had some huge announcements to make as well Tony. Two title tournaments for the Cruiserweight and Tag Team championships. Also at Souled Out this Sunday we have a Television title battle royal to crown a brand new champion.

Bobby Hennan: What about that lunatic Chavo Guerrero Jr guys, heís on a different planet.

Tony Schiavone: Heís certainly a special young man, his uncle Eddy just wants to include him with his friends the Filthy Animals.

Mike Tenay: But they didnít seem too keen on having Chavo enter into their locker room.

Tony Schiavone: Only time will tell whether Chavo will gain the respect and friendship from the Filthy Animals. But before the commercial break we saw the Excellence of Execution Bret The Hitman Hart the WCW World Heavyweight Champion enter the arena. What does our champion have to say tonight about the big changes going down in World Championship Wrestling?

Bobby Hennan: I have no idea Tony but Iím sure he will have something to say before the night is through.

Mike Tenay: Iím hearing that we are heading backstage to Eric Bischoffs office.

Cameras pan backstage to Bischoff who is sitting in his office. Suddenly a loud banging begins on the door. The Total Package Lex Luger marches in with his full wrestling gear on. Elizabeth is closely followed behind him.

Lex Luger: Eric Bischoff, so I come into work today and I sat and watched the opening of Monday Nitro, I see all these past and current wrestlers getting shown on that video package, but there was no image of the Total Package Lex Luger on that video, why, why is that Eric?

Eric Bischoff: Time constraints Iím sure Lex, it wasnít there to deny your talents.

Lex Luger: Second problem, I speak to Terry Taylor earlier on and he says that I havenít been booked for a match tonight. Whatís up with that?

Eric Bischoff: The card was already sorted before you got to the arena. There will be no more booking on the fly in WCW, if you want a match Lex, you will have to turn up on time and leave your ego at home.

Luger gets increasingly annoyed.

Lex Luger: Iím the biggest talent on this show and you know it Bischoff. So put me in a match tonight, give me Bret Hart for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.

Eric Bischoff: You want a title shot tonight?

Lex Luger: Of course, Iím the Total Package.

Eric Bischoff: I am going to have to say no Lex; this is the new WCW where opportunities are earned not given. So tonight, you can a shot at a title belt. You can face Booker T for the number one contendership for the WCW U.S Heavyweight title at Souled Out. How about that?

Lex Luger: You going to regret this Eric, we go way back, and this is how you repay me.

Luger looks disgusted as he storms out with Elizabeth in close pursuit. Bischoff smiles to himself. The cameras pan to ringside.

David Penzer: This your next contest on Monday Nitro and it is an opening round match up in the WCW Cruiserweight Championship tournament. Introducing first accompanied to ringside by Shannon Moore and Evan Karagias, here is Shane Helms.

Sing along with 3 Count hits as the three men come out for the second time tonight. The fans boo the boy band wannabes loudly as they make their way to the ring.

David Penzer: And his opponent from Tokyo Japan, Kaz Hayashi.

Hayashi comes out to a few cheers from the New York crowd.

Match two, WCW Cruiserweight Title Tournament: Shane Helms W/3 Count Vs Kaz Hayashi.

Kaz takes the early advantage in the match up and begins to dictate the pace. He uses his experience to work over Helms who looks stunned at the rate of offence he is receiving from Kaz. The action spills to the outside which gives 3 Count the advantage as Helms distracts referee Billy Silverman as Moore and Karagias work over Kaz. Back inside the ring and Helms is in control and begins to work over Kaz. He goes up top for a frog splash but Kaz manages to roll out the way and begins to punish Helms for his mistake.

The finish comes when Kaz Hayashi has full control of the match up and is setting up for the Shining Wizard on Helms when Evan Karagias jumps on the apron to distract Silverman. Meanwhile Shannon Moore slides in the ring and nails Hayashi from behind with a clothesline, this gives Helms time to recover and land a devastating super kick. Helms hooks the leg as Silverman turns around to count the three count at 5.32.

Shane Helms advances to the next round after he steals a victory from Kaz Hayashi thanks to the other members of 3 Count.

Commercial break

We come back from the back and a camera is in the locker room of the Revolution. The Franchise Shane Douglas, Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko and Asya are all in attendance.

Shane Douglas: I have requested this interview time because I have a few quick points that I want to get off my chest. Firstly Souled Out, I will be getting an opportunity to not only win the WCW Television title, but also to bring some prestige back to the title. Secondly here in the Revolution we have a tag team that is not the best in WCW.

Malenko and Saturn suddenly looked perplexed.

Shane Douglas: But the best in the whole world.

Both Malenko and Saturn smile.

Shane Douglas: You see, in the Revolution we take care of business and these two men will be raising the WCW World Tag Team Championships this Sunday, and we will prove to World Championship Wrestling why we are the best talent here today. Oh, and before I forget. Ric Flair, you old piece of shit, you can kiss my Franchised ass.

Cameras cut to ringside to David Penzer.

David Penzer: Ladies and gentleman this is your next contest in the WCW Cruiserweight Championship tournament. Introducing first from Tijuana Mexico, Blitzkrieg.

The fans give some cheers for the masked highflyer.

David Penzer: And his opponent, accompanied to the ring by his uncle Eddy Guerrero, here is Chavo Guerrero Junior.

Chavos music hits but nobody comes out, after a few moments the cameras cut backstage. Chavo his dancing with Pepe once again, whilst the Filthy Animals look on.

Eddy Guerrero: Come on, support Chavo and be at ringside.

Billy Kidman: We have a match to prepare for Eddy.

Konnan: Just look at him Eddy, heís lost it.

Chavo begins to sing with his wooden horse. The Animals walk off as Eddy ushers Chavo through the curtain and towards the ring.

Match three, WCW Cruiserweight Title Tournament: Blitzkrieg Vs Chavo Guerrero Jr W/Eddy Guerrero.

Chavo and Blitzkrieg square the ring before locking up and the Blitzkrieg manages to overpower Chavo and pushes him backwards through the ropes and to the arena floor. Eddy helps his nephew up and back into the ring. Bliztkrieg dominates the majority of the match up, he sets up Chavo in the corner and goes for a running handspring back elbow but Chavo moves and Blitzkrieg connects with the turnbuckle instead, he comes away from the corner and Chavo kicks him in the gut and lifts him into the air. Chavo brings him back down with a vicious Brainbuster. Chavo hooks the far leg and picks up the victory at 3.18.

Chavo looks shocked that heís won and begins to run around the ring whilst Eddy looks pleased as he tries to calm his nephew down. The cameras pan away as Chavo celebrates with Pepe and Eddy. The cameras go backstage to Gene Okerlund and Chris Champagne Kanyon, he is accompanied by Mr Biggs and his girls.

Gene Okerlund: Chris Champagne Kanyon, I hear you have been partying hard recently in New York city?

Chris Kanyon: I have Gene, and you know what I am sick of it. I am sick of these girls right here, Iím sick of sipping champagne at the hottest clubs in the world. And lastly Iím sick of being overlooked in World Championship Wrestling. Mr Biggs get these girls out of here.

Mr Biggs obliges as he ushers the girls away from Kanyon. Kanyon takes of his colourful shirt and necklaces and throws them to the ground.

Chris Kanyon: For too long now I have been overlooked in World Championship Wrestling for opportunities, but no longer. Iím the innovator of offence Gene, and with Mr Biggs in my corner and Iím going to climb the ladder of WCW as fast I want too. You mark my words, oh, here have some champagne.

Kanyon hands Gene a bottle of champagne as he marches off with a sour look on his face.

Gene Okerlund: Chris Kanyon obviously has had enough of people not taking him seriously in WCW and is now focused on pushing himself up the ladder. Iím never going to pass up free champagne either.

Gene looks down at the bottle of champagne and smiles, he then walks off camera. The cameras pan to ringside to the three announcers.

Tony Schiavone: Looks like Gene is set for the evening then guys.

Mike Tenay: He certainly does, but what about the new intensity behind Chris Kanyon, he looks focused and ready to succeed in the new WCW.

Bobby Hennan: I have always liked that kid, and now with a more focused mind set he will certainly go far. You can mark my words on that.

Tony Schiavone: He looks intent on doing so. What about Chavo Guerrero Junior guys? He advances in the Cruiserweight title tournament, but the Filthy Animals donít seem to keen on letting him join the group.

Bobby Hennan: Heís totally nuts guys, I wouldnít want someone like that hanging around with me, never know what heís going to do next.

Mike Tenay: As long as Eddy can keep Chavo focused I believe he has a great chance of becoming the next WCW Cruiserweight Champion, I really do.

Tony Schiavone: Well heís still in the tournament guys, so still has a chance of course. We still have loads more for you tonight. Booker T will be taking on the Total Package Lex Luger in a number one contenders match for the WCW U.S Heavyweight championship against Jeff Jarrett at Souled Out. As well as the Filthy Animals taking on David Flair and Crowbar in the WCW World Tag Team title Tournament.

Mike Tenay: Not forgetting we will be hearing from Kevin Nash as well as an in ring promo with the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Bret The Hitman Hart.

Tony Schiavone: All still to come so donít go away.

Commercial break

We come back from the break and the Hardcore Legend Terry Funk is standing in the ring. He has brought himself a bucket load of hardcore plunder.

Terry Funk: Norman Smiley, you absolute disgrace to hardcore wrestling, get your ass down here so I can take that belt from you. And show these WCW fans what a true Hardcore Legend looks like. Come on Norman you chicken.

Norman Smiley makes his way to the ring to a good pop from the crowd, he has his WCW Hardcore Title wrapped around his waist. He gingerly walks to the ring. He begins to throw some of the hardcore weapons that Funk brought to ringside into the ring. Smiley eventually rolls into the ring to be met with a trash can shot to the head and the beginning of the match up.

Match four, WCW Hardcore title: Terry Funk Vs Screamin Norman Smiley (C)

Funk wears down Smiley with shots with the trash can before moving onto other weapons. Standard hardcore brawling ensues. Both men getting the better of the other man for brief spells. Smiley hits the smack my bitch up dance on Funk but gets waffled with a chair for his troubles. Funk regains control of the match and goes for his signature piledriver on a steel chair but Smiley blocks it and backdrops Funk to the mat. As Funk climbs back up to his feet, Smiley drills him in the back with a broom, he then locks on the Norman Conquest for the submission victory at 3.31. Norman retains his title.

Whilst Norman has the move still locked on, Fit Finlay runs out from the back and begins to lay into both competitors. While Finlay is laying waste to both men, the Tongan Monster Meng charges out from the back, thereís a four man brawl between them all. Smiley manages to slip out the back door and escape the fight with his Hardcore title. Finlay, Funk and Meng continue the brawl. The cameras cut away as security subdue the fighting, the cameras go to Mean Gene Okerlund who is waiting for Big Sexy Kevin Nash entering the arena. Nash walks in as Okerlund waits for Big Sexy.

Gene Okerlund: Kevin, I take it you have heard that Bischoff has been reinstated as WCW President.

Kevin Nash: Gene, I have, he rang me personally to tell me about the situation. I think WCW has a chance to go back to the top of the mountain and with Eric back in charge we will certainly see that happen.

Gene Okerlund: What do you see in the future for yourself here in World Championship Wrestling Kevin?

Kevin Nash: With Eric back in the driving seat, I am not going to say that there isnít a chance that band will get back together, but as of right now, I am after one thing and one thing only, and thatís getting back the WCW World Heavyweight Championship from Bret Hart.

Nash leaves Okerlund behind as he walks off. Cameras pan to the locker room. Booker T is sitting in his locker room when Eric Bischoff walks in.

Eric Bischoff: Booker, just the man I was after. I have admired your talents for many years, tonight you have a chance to impress, you have got Lex Luger one on one. The winner of that match gets Jeff Jarrett for the U.S Heavyweight strap at Souled Out. What do you say?

Booker T: Thanks Eric, Iíll get myself ready right now. That sucka aient gonna know what hit him tonight. Know can you dig that?

Bischoff nods and smiles before leaving Booker to get ready for his upcoming match up.

Commercial break

We come back from the commercial break and Eric Bischoff is sitting in his office. WCW Hardcore Champion Screamin Norman Smiley runs into the office.

Norman Smiley: Did you see what happened out there Eric , I had a one on one match, then Fit Finlay and that psycho Meng come running out and begin pounding on me. I didnít sign up for that kind of match up.

Eric Bischoff: Wow, wow, wow, Norman calm down. Youíre the WCW Hardcore Champion you should be prepared for anything. I am well aware that Meng and Finlay had no real business being out there, but they came out after the match up was won by you. So there was no real foul play.

Norman Smiley: But I donít deserve to be jumped like that Eric.

Eric Bischoff: Ok, I have figured it out, you donít want to get jumped from behind, so how about this Sunday, its four the hard way, WCW Hardcore Championship on the line, when you defend against Terry Funk, The Monster Meng and Fit Finlay in a four way dance. Good luck Norman.

Norman looks stunned as the cameras pan away to the ring.

David Penzer: Ladies and gentlemen this is your next contest here live on Monday Nitro. It is a first round match in the WCW World Tag Team Championship Tournament. Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Daffney, here are David Flair and Crowbar.

Looney town hits as the three oddballs make their way to the ring. The fans cheer the threesome as they run to the ring.

David Penzer: And their opponents in this match up, accompanied to the ring by Torrie Wilson, Rey Mysterio Jr and Eddy Guerrero, they are Billy Kidman and Konnan, the Filthy Animals.

Filthy and Dirty hits as the Filthy Animals make their way to the ring for this tag team mach up.

Match five, WCW Tag Team Title Tournament: David Flair and Crowbar W/Daffney Vs The Filthy Animals (Billy Kidman and Konnan) W/Torrie Wilson, Rey Mysterio Jr and Eddy Guerrero.

Crowbar and Kidman start things off in this match up. They go through some good mat wrestling before going high risk. Kidman gets clotheslined over the top rope and to the arena floor. Crowbar runs and hits a suicide dive over the top rope onto Kidman and the rest of the Filthy Animals. The matchup is back and forth with a fast pace. The finish comes when Billy Kidman goes up top and hits the Shooting Star Press on David Flair as Konnan keeps Crowbar at bay. The Filthy Animals pick up the victory and they advance in the tournament at 6.10.

The Animals celebrate as Chavo Guerrero comes out to celebrate with them. The Animals donít look too impressed that Chavo has come out with his wooden horse Pepe. We come back from the break and we see Sid Vicious arriving at the arena.

Commercial break

The cameras pan to ringside to David Penzer.

Eric Bischoffs music hits and all four men look towards the ramp way.

Eric Bischoff: Considering I am the brand new WCW President I think that I will make a choice and I have made a decision which way may not sit too well with any of you. You see in the new WCW its all about equal opportunity and more importantly giving the fans what they want to see. So tonight I am going to announce that at Souled Out in six days, itís going to be Bret the Hitman Hart defending the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against the Crippler Chris Benoit.

The fans pop as Benoit looks ecstatic. Bischoff turns and goes to leave the ramp way. He then turns back to face the ring.

WCW News and Rumours

~ Many fans seemed to have enjoyed the latest edition of WCW Monday Nitro. The fans said that seeing some of the younger stars given an opportunity to shine was a real positive and said that it should continue in the future. On the other hand many casual fans said that the show lacked real star power though. Sting, Goldberg, DDP, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage are all currently inactive or injured. The rating for this weekís episode of Monday Nitro was a 3.5, which was up from 2.9 from two weeks ago. ~

~ There are a lot of rumours circling around backstage that WCW is looking to cut away more dead wood from the roster to not only reduce the costs the company currently pays out but also to free up some space to add talent to the roster. ~

~ World Championship Wrestling has set about bringing some fresh new talent onto the roster, they have made enquiries to the WWF, ECW and some international federations about talent, no word yet on who they have their eyes on. ~

WCW Monday Nitro 1/10/00
Review/Feedback

I never caught more than a handful of Nitro episodes when it was on the air, so I’m not really all that familiar with the WCW product. But since I do know a lot of the guys from the roster I figured I’d give reading your thread a shot; especially since it seems you’re kind of starting fresh with all of the vacant titles.

I’m not sure why Bischoff’s been gone in the first place, but based on the mixed reaction I’m guessing the fans weren’t too sure what to think of him when he first appeared. It would’ve been nice if you had mentioned why Bischoff had not been seen for a while for those of us who are not as well versed with what’s been going on at the time.

Tough loss for Three Count, but I have a feeling them looking dejected might lead somewhere. Or maybe not, we shall see. I liked the suicide plancha by Psychosis while Helms and Moore were on the outside. It led to a decisive exciting finish.

I did some research on Pepe and it appears as if Norman Smiley threw “him” into a woodchipper back in the beginning of 1999. Did Chavo end up replacing the original Pepe?

The Luger/Bischoff segment backstage was well done. Both guys were well written and the subject matter made sense; although Bischoff seemed hypocritical booking Luger in a match when he appeared dead set on keeping things the way it was originally planned.

Looks like Three Count are back on the right track with Helms getting the victory over Kaz. I thought you did a good job at involving 3 Count during the course of the match.

The Franchise promo was short but sweet. The shout out against Flair at the end of the promo helped seal the deal. You made the right decision in including that line because if it was missing it wouldn’t have had the same effect.

I like the fact you seem to be giving Chavo some direction with his win and interaction with Eddie and the Filthy Animals. Not sure about him still carrying around Pepe though, but I get the reasoning behind it.

The Kanyon interview was intriguing as far as character development is concerned. I like where you’re going with him having partied so much that it’s gotten to a point where he’s immune to the temptations of girls, champagne, etc.

The Nash promo and Bischoff/Booker T segment were pretty uneventful. They didn’t add much to the show in my opinion and came across as filler.

I know you don’t have much time to build up the whole PPV but the Hardcore Four Way Dance came together a little bit too quick. I guess I’m just waiting to hear why Finlay and Meng got involved in the first place other than because Smiley has the Hardcore title. Right now it feels like just another match on the card.

On the other side of the spectrum, it didn’t take much (all it took was a simple guitar shot to the head) to get me to look forward to the Jarrett/Booker T match. Jarrett just comes across as somebody you’d want to see get his comeuppance.

My problem with Hart’s open challenge is why wouldn’t everybody in the back come out and take him up on his offer? That being said, they all appear to be worthy challengers which could turn out to be a solid match.

It wouldn’t hurt to do some proofreading of your shows as I came across several grammatical errors that hurt the overall flow of the show because it forced me to reread certain sentences.

Overall, it was not too shabby. The short match descriptions were easy to read. However, there are definitely things that could be improved on. I think the fact that you only had one week to build up the PPV played a role in how certain parts of the show felt rushed. You’ll probably hit your stride once you have everything set up the way you like it.
