Default WWE 2011: Under New Management (An Interactive BTB)

Vincent Kennedy McMahon sat anxiously in his backstage office, awaiting the man who was set to become the new leader of the world’s largest professional wrestling organization, the WWE. He checked his watch several times, noting that it only moved a few seconds forward each time and cleared his throat impatiently. If there was one thing that McMahon hated, it was waiting.

The knock on the door caused McMahon to jump and as the door swung open he found himself facing his son, Shane McMahon. Vince began to walk over to the doorway and extended his hand to his son.

“Is he here yet?” Shane asked, accepting his father’s handshake.
“No, he’s not,” Vince reply. “And I don’t know what the delay is.”
“Well, have you tried calling him? He’s 15 minutes late.”
“No, Shane, I’m not going to call him. I’m giving my company to him, the least he can do is show up on time. What are you doing here?”
“I was just in St. Petersburg for the weekend with the family and we thought we’d stop by for the pay per view.”
“Well, I hope you enjoy it. We’ll have a new World Heavyweight Champion tonight.”
“Yeah, I kind of figured, dad. The belt is vacant!”

The two laughed before Shane politely excused himself and wished his father good luck with his replacement. Before McMahon had even sat back down on his chair there was another knock on the door.

“What is it, Shane?”
“It’s not Shane, sir,” replied the rough voice. “It’s Hunter.”
Hunter! Come in, please!”

The door opened again and McMahon’s son-in-law Paul Levesque (or Hunter Hearst-Helmsley, or Triple H) made his way into the ring accompanied by his wife, Stephanie McMahon-Levesque.

“I’ve been waiting for you!” Vince continued, attempting to passive aggressively indicate that his son-in-law and daughter were now 18 minutes for their noon appointment.
“Sorry it took so long, dad,” Stephanie spoke up. “Vaughn got fussy on the way over.”
“It’s no problem, really,” Vince said, hugging his daughter and then shaking Hunter’s hand. “And how are my grandkids?”
“They’re great! They’re excited to spend more time with pappy now that he’s retiring,” Stephanie answered.
“But I’m sure you’ll never really retire, isn’t that right, old man,” Hunter joked.

The trio laughed.

“So, Miss Executive Vice President of Creative Writing, did you go over tonight’s card with your husband?”
“I did and he had a lot of very useful suggestions! I think he’s going to fill your shoes just fine, daddy.”
“Well, I hope so. You know how much this company means to our family, Paul, don’t you?”
“Of course I do, Vince. Trust me; I have nothing but good intentions in mind with my direction for this company.”
“Good. I feel like I can trust you,” Vince said. “Hell, you’ve been my son-in-law for almost eight years, I better be able to trust you.”

The trio again laughed.

“Well, are you ready to tell the boys in the back?” Hunter asked.

After a moment’s reflection, Vince nodded his head and the “McMahon-Helmsley Faction” as they’d been known before made their way out of Vince’s office and headed for the Gorilla Position.

OOC - The shows will start with the Extreme Rules 2011 pay per view with slightly different results. That should be posted in the next few days but until them I'm going to continue to post backstage updates etc. It's says 'An Interactive BTB' in the title because in the long run this will become interactive but right now it's not. There will be times when you, the reader, can decide who gets fired, hired, pushed, jobbed, etc. I hope you enjoy and please leave feedback. This is my first time ever writing any wrestling material so there may be some awkward transition time.

The entire roster of WWE talents and backstage workers were assembled in the arena while the ring crew still worked to assemble the ring for tonight’s pay per view event. Several talents were seated in the front rows of seats while other talents stood around chatting. The usual suspects were seen together with Edge and Christian laughing about something by the announce booth, while CM Punk stood with Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder making jokes together near the entrance ramp. No one was told why they were assembled today, just that Mr. McMahon had an important announcement regarding the company (and, in his melodramatic fashion, the industry in general.) Many assumed the meeting was to discuss the recent name change of the company from World Wrestling Entertainment, to simply WWE.

The McMahon-Helmsley Trio make their way through the ‘curtain’ with minimal recognition, everyone was so absorbed in their own activities. Attention starting to turn to them as they made their way further down the entrance ramp and began approaching the ring.

“Can I have your attention please,” Mr. McMahon requested. Everyone quickly stopped talking and turned to Vince, one of the most respected men in the company and the industry. “I… we, rather, have some announcements we need to make.”

The group all seemingly gave their full attention to the trio, many moving around the arena to get a better view of what was to come.

“I know you have all gone of over your matches with your trainers, but creative has determined that some things on tonight’s card need to change. Everyone scheduled to compete tonight; we will meet with you following this meeting to tell you of any changes. I realize this is last minute but there has been a change in creative. Hell, a change in administration in general.”

McMahon looked at his wrist watch and cleared his throat.

“Effective thirty eight minutes ago, I am no longer the Chairman of the Board and I am no longer the Chief Executive Officer of WWE, Inc.”

A large gasp could be heard from the crowd as none expected this to occur.

“Don’t worry, Donald Trump isn’t replacing me this time,” McMahon joked, but it got a silent response as all were so shocked at the announcement. “No, no, in fact, my replacement is someone you all know very well. Without further ado, let me introduce the new Chairman of the Board, Mr. Paul Levesque.

There was scattered, respectful applause, from the employees but many were wary about the changes to come now that Triple H was in charge. He had, after all, the reputation of being manipulative and a backstage politician.

“I’m going to start this out by saying something that people dreamed of saying for years,” Levesque began. “Vincent Kennedy McMahon, you’re fired!”

The crowd (and McMahon) all laughed at Hunter using McMahon’s famous slogan before Hunter continued.

“I know a lot of you are probably apprehensive, hell, I’m apprehensive myself. I’ve never run a wrestling company before and many have you have worked for Vince for years. Let me guarantee you that everything will stay as close to the same as possible as far as leadership goes. I bet you all think I’m gonna call in my friends, Kevin Nash or Sean Waltman, but I promise you that is not the case. The future of this company is standing in this room right now and you will be the focus going forward, not stars from the nineties. So let me ask you… Are you ready?”

The crowd applauds as Hunter begins shaking people’s hands but many are still unsure about whether they can trust him to run this company the right way.

Hey Cab, thanks for the comment. Extreme Rules should be up tonight or tomorrow, I can't wait to get into the swing of things. I'm gonna check out yours because TNA BTBs are awesome in general haha.

Discussion Point:
Do you think Hunter will run the company straight or will the power get to him?

Another good post and a nice way for Hunter to address his new employees. To answer the discussion point, i hope he runs it straight but we will see.

And thanks I hope you enjoy it.

As a reader in general, I have to say I like what you've done with your introduction. The way the story has panned out in the last two posts is quite believable, and it makes me look forward to seeing some of your promos in the shows. Only suggestion I have at this point is that you don't stress yourself out bolding out all of the names/subjects in the text. It's a tiny bit unecessary, in my opinion, but either way it's your style & your thread. As far as your discussion point goes, I feel like HHH will do a great deal to run the company as straight as possible -- considering that fact that 'running straight' entails doing what's best for business in the eyes of the business man. Not everyone will like what's done, but one way or another each move, I predict, will benefit your 'WWE'.

I look forward to seeing where this goes --both in the story and the 'interactivity' that's to come -- and I wish you the best of luck with your BTB. Take your time, stick with this, and I'll be reading.

You know, I did the bold thing to try to make an easy format to produce that still broke up the monotony of plain text but it so much to go over, especially on the shows I've written up. I'm gonna experiment with some different style techniques to find the one that suits me best though.

Thank you both for the comments and it looks like the general opinion is that Hunter will run it straight.

with the current gimmick of HHH in WWE, initially he needs to run it straight, he should be powerful and strict but not like making wrong decisions and supporting heels, but being upright and solid
the power getting to him part can be done as time comes
the interactive idea can be really good, let's see how it plays out

Hey guys for me feedback. I'm just letting you know, I'm working on the Extreme Rules post right now and am planning to post it if not tonight, then tomorrow afternoon/evening EST.

I tried to make it my own while still retaining the same matches (for the most part) by changing finishes, changing angles, etc. and am really excited to post it and get some feedback on it.

Hope everyone is well.

I liked the way at the start you teased/suggested the idea that Shane was going to be the man in control. Good luck with this.
