I am really hooked to this one.

That was an explosive Raw, and your storylines are really easy to follow. I am looking forward to see who Miz and Morrison go for next, I am going to guess it could be the Brothers of Destruction (after Backlash). I was also completely thrown off by Batista returning, and that was a great way to end the show. Punk/Show feud would be good as well

The Animal Unleashed!

This past Monday Night saw the unexpected return of The Animal, Batista! The former World Heavyweight Champion stunned everybody, including Randy Orton, Edge and John Cena by making his triumphant return during the main event of Raw. Just before the blockbuster tag team match was set to take place, Cena’s partner, CM Punk, was attacked backstage by an irate Big Show which rendered him unable to compete. Cena, deciding to tackle both World Champions alone ran to the ring but ultimately fell to the numbers game. Just when it seemed as if the vicious Orton was going to punt the CeNation Commander in the head, Batista shocked the world by sprinting to the ring and taking everybody out. The last image of Raw saw The Animal standing tall with both World Titles in his grasp. What does this mean for Randy Orton and Edge? What does this mean for the entire WWE? WWE Draft News

WWE.COM has received some more information on the much anticipated 2009 WWE Draft. With the introduction of two new General Managers, the Draft will switch back to its old format of a lottery. Both GM’s will have a podium and a tumbler filled with every superstar on the roster inside. Each GM will make their picks throughout the night. There will be 20 picks in total, 10 for each show and the rest of the rosters will be revealed during the supplemental draft on Tuesday. Keep checking back for more information as the Draft draws nearer.

The Backlash card is looking very thin right now but expect more matches to be added this coming Smackdown and Raw. Creative hope to end most of the current feuds and tie up the loose ends from Wrestlemania so they can move forward with fresh programs heading into Judgment Day.

We can reveal more information about the draft. Each GM will receive 10 picks live on Raw. Expect these picks to be most of the big names. Top stars like John Cena and the newly returned Batista, even names like The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels are all set to switch around. Vince McMahon is said to have his mind made up on most of the big roster moves with the supplemental draft not quite completed yet. One superstar that is causing a lot of headaches is Mr. MITB, CM Punk as McMahon is very unsure of where to place him. Either way he is set for a huge push no matter what brand he ends up on.

Batista’s return to Raw surprised many backstage as most thought that he was still set to be out for a few more weeks. One insider told us that his return makes up for the loss of Triple H who is out with a kayfabe injury from Randy Orton. We were told to expect a lot of returns in the near future too.

I haven't finished the show yet but I hope to have it up for the middle of next week. I think I'll have to stick to my new format because it's much easier to write this way and I want the thread to start picking up some steam heading into Backlash. Anyways, here's a preview for now.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown Preview, April 17th 2009

‘Animal Kingdom’

Beast Unleashed

Tune in to Friday Night Smackdown where The Animal is set to take on the very man who started the chaos of Monday night in the first place, The Big Show!

Punk’d

Just moments before his huge tag team main event with John Cena against Randy Orton and Edge, The Straight Edge Savior found himself on the receiving end of a vicious beat down by The Big Show. Show, who obviously wasn’t too happy about getting pinned by the Money in the Bank holder last week on Smackdown attacked Punk backstage right after getting disqualified in his match against Christian for doing the exact same thing. It is rumored that Punk has not been cleared to compete and thus is not scheduled to be in Baton Rouge come Friday.

Number Seventeen

In what turned out to be a very heated confrontation between two WWE legends set to do battle ‘One More Time’ come Backlash, the world just might have witnessed the beginnings of The Phenom’s infamous mind games. After degrading Mr. Wrestlemania to nothing more than Number 17, The Undertaker went on to rebuke an attempted Sweet Chin Music with a mere shrug of his shoulders. HBK is set for action on Smackdown against the self-proclaimed ‘Wrestling God’ JBL. Has The Deadman got inside the head of Shawn Michaels?

Straight Up….Ballin?

The United States Champion saw himself on the losing end of a match to Ted DiBiase on Raw. Where one Legacy member goes, the other is sure to follow and this was the central reason for MVP’s loss Monday night. While Mr. 305 was able to enact some measure of revenge against Legacy during Cody Rhodes’ match with Rey Mysterio later in the evening, he will have the opportunity to go for a double when he faces off against the second generation superstar again this Friday Night.

Champion vs. Champion

Since winning the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 25, The Viper is yet to step into the ring for competition. This will all change as he takes on the man who put away his Legacy brethren, Cody Rhodes this past Monday Night, Rey Mysterio! It’s WWE Champion vs. Intercontinental Champion, The Viper vs. The Ultimate Underdog, Randy Orton vs. Rey Mysterio!

Also, World Heavyweight Champion Edge, Unified Tag Team Champions The Miz and John Morrison, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy and John Cena will all be on hand for another unmissable edition of Friday Night Smackdown!

Confirmed
MVP vs. Ted DiBiase
Shawn Michaels vs. JBL
Randy Orton vs. Rey Mysterio
Batista vs. The Big Show

WWE Friday Night Smackdown
April 17th 2009
River Center – Baton Rouge, LA

‘Animal Kingdom’

Just four days after the shock return of Batista on Monday Night Raw, Smackdown comes to you live tonight from the rocking River Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana! An opening promo hypes the main event of John Cena and CM Punk vs. Randy Orton and Edge scheduled to take place on Raw. The focus quickly shifts to Big Show’s assault on Punk as he is left lying on the ground in pain. A sudden change of music highlights the danger John Cena is in by deciding to go it alone. But just before Orton is set to punt him into oblivion the screen goes dark. Only the cheers of the fans in the Cajundome can be heard until a fiery image of Batista bursts onto the screen with his pyro shooting off high into the sky behind him. The music changes to a much more upbeat and triumphant tone as Batista rushes the ring. Finally the package ends with The Animal standing tall with both World Titles in his grasp.

**Friday Night Smackdown Intro Video**

Right off the bat JR is going all sorts of crazy in the announce booth as he runs over Batista’s return and makes it out to be the best thing that’s ever happened in the history of the world while Cole can’t help but agree. We get a wide shot of the packed River Center before the camera turns to the tron.

**I WALK ALONE**

Batista is first out tonight to an absolutely MEGA pop. The Animal looks all fired up as his pyro explodes behind him before he walks to the ring.

BA-TIS-TA! BA-TIS-TA!

Eventually deciding to talk over the fans as they won’t let him speak, Batista let’s everybody know how good it feels to be back. “I rehabbed and rehabbed AND REHABBED MY ASS OFF TO GET BACK IN THIS RING!” He speaks about the injury to his head at the hands of Randy Orton all those months ago, how he had to learn how to function again. “I even considered hanging them up for good. But that very night I sat in my house and I watched as you punted Shane in the head and then RKO’d Stephanie. I watched as Hunter ran to the ring to tend to his wife and I sat there with a smile on my face because I knew he’d kick your ass from here to God damn China for what you had done!” A distant expression covers his face as he pauses for a moment. “But you only became more sick and twisted, Randy and now look where we are, huh? You put the entire McMahon family out of action and you took the WWE Championship with a punt to the head of Triple H. I know what he’s going through because I went through the exact same thing at your hand, Randy! At your hand! You did what I never thought you would be able to do…..you took out The Game.” The fans are pouring serious heat as Batista talks about the injuries of his friend. “As every week passed and we got closer and closer to Wrestlemania I could feel myself getting stronger, getting better. I only wish I was fit to return two weeks ago because believe me, the Wrestlemania main event would have turned out very differently had I been there to even things out. But that’s all in the past. On Monday I returned and I put everybody on notice, Batista is BACK and you can bet your ass I’m coming for a World Title! I don’t care if it’s you, Orton or Edge, but I WILL become Champion again. Whatever one of you’s got the balls to come out here and confront me, DO IT!” All eyes are on the tron as the fans anxiously await the arrival of one of the World Champions. A few moments pass and no one appears.

**MY TIME IS NOW**

With almost an equal size reaction to the man in the ring, John Cena bursts onto the stage and jovially makes his way to the ring. The fans are on their feet as the two biggest superstars since the Attitude Era stand in the ring face to face. Some of Cena’s cheers have disintegrated in to boos as the older fans begin to side with The Animal. Cena sticks out his hand and welcomes the other man back. “I know, I know, I’m not who you were hoping to come out right now but I just had to. You see, Dave, I wanted to welcome you home but I also wanted to say thanks. If you hadn’t come out when you did, well, I don’t think things would have turned out too good for me. So thank yo……..”

“Don’t. Don’t thank me, John. I didn’t return on Raw so I could help you. To be honest, I couldn’t give a crap if you get punted.” A loud cheer sounds around the arena from the male contingent of fans who are more than happy at Batista’s confrontational attitude with Cena. John tilts his head as a curious expression crosses his face and Batista continues. “I returned on Raw, I picked my spot because I wanted to make an impact. In one night I had both World Champions running scared and I want my title shot TO-NIGHT!”

“Well if you want a title shot and considering the fact that my number one contenders match was ruined by Edge, I want one too! Orton! Edge! Both of you get your asses out here! One of you can face Dave Batista tonight and the other can face me for whatever championship you got!” A HUGE pop rings out for that announcement as once again all eyes turn to the tron. When it becomes clear that nobody is coming, heavy boos start to spread around the River Center and they only get louder at the sound of a certain theme song.

**BREAK THE WALLS DOWN**

The one and only, Chris Jericho saunters out to the stage to great heat. He isn’t who anybody wants to see right now and he knows it.

“Hold on a second, hold on!” Cena says as soon as the music has died down. “Didn’t you say you were going on strike, Jericho? What the hell are you doing here?”

“Well, John, I’m here because I couldn’t stomach listening to either of your hypocrisy any longer. You see, you have had countless championship opportunity after opportunity and you have blown every single one. You lost your title in the Elimantion Chamber, you lost at Wrestlemania, you lost the next night on Raw and you almost got punted in the head, Monday night! Yet with all that you’re still out here demanding another title shot?” Jericho paces around the ramp. “And you, Batista, you’re not even back a week yet and already you’re demanding title shots too? What madness is this? What about Chris Jericho? What about my title shot?” Jericho ignores the boos from the fans and frowns as both Cena and Batista pace in the ring, seemingly not the least bit concerned about his question. “You don’t care? This is exactly what I’m going on strike for. There is no authority in this company anymore and it is ridiculous! Whoever can toot their own horn the loudest wins. Well, I’ve had enough! I…….”

Batista has had enough too. “Listen, Jericho, I don’t have time to listen to your damn whining.” Big pop for that as Cena agrees. “If Orton and Edge aren’t going to come out here then I have no problem in walking up that ramp and shutting your mouth so me and all these people don’t have to listen to you anymore!”

Jericho screws his face up and is just about to respond when suddenly the noise level in the arena rises. Out of nowhere Legacy hit the ring in an ambush attack. The Baton Rouge fans boo heavily as Orton, Rhodes and DiBiase stomp all over the two men in the ring. Orton starts directing traffic, calling for Batista to be lifted so he can prepare for the RKO. But The Animal effortlessly shrugs Cody off and immediately hits a crushing Spinebuster on the WWE Champion! The River Center erupts as Orton hits the mat and rolls out of the ring. Rhodes is tossed over after him and is quickly followed by DiBiase who lands hard on top of his partner at the hands of John Cena. The two baby faces pace around the ring to the sound of cheers, watching as Legacy retreat up the ramp yet still quite wary of each other too as the cameras cut to the back where Todd Grisham is standing by with Jeff Hardy.

Jeff says that he doesn’t know why his brother keeps attacking him and at this point he doesn’t care. If he wants to fight then Jeff will fight. The Enigma issues a challenge for Backlash to a great cheer which only grows louder when Jeff announces that it will be a Steel Cage Match! “This way you can’t run, Matt, you can’t run away and we will settle this thing once and for all!” Jeff stalks off as the NEXT graphic appears on the screen before the show cuts to commercial.

**NO MORE WORDS**

Jeff Hardy dances onto the stage to a huge ovation. The crowd is covered in his signature armbands and several kids have their faces painted Hardy style. Jeff hops onto the second turnbuckle and gives his famous pose while the fans continue to go wild.

**THIS AIN’T NO MAKE BELIEVE**

One half of the Unified Tag Team Champs, John Morrison is set for action right now but his tag partner isn’t far behind as The Miz accompanies his pal to the ring. The duo is receiving a great deal more heat since the start of their Quest for Competition just last week and the River Center are all over them tonight.

Match 1
John Morrison w/The Miz vs. Jeff Hardy

The climax of the match saw Jeff on an absolute roll with his offence. After a direct to the face Whisper in the Wind, Jeff planted Morrison with a sit down face buster. The fans came alive as the Enigma took to the ropes, signaling for the Swanton Bomb to a huge cheer. However, once again the proceedings were interrupted by none other than Matt Hardy who hit the ring and shoved Jeff off the turnbuckle.

Winner – No Contest

The Hardy brothers started to brawl in the ring while Morrison slowly rolled to the outside. Matt threw his brother into the ropes and lowered his head only to be hit right in the jaw by a sit down dropkick. Matt stumbled back towards the ropes and was sent flying over to the ground by a clothesline. He joined both Miz and Morrison on the outside. All three men banded together in an attempt to straighten up until Jeff Hardy came sailing over the top rope and landed on everybody in sight. The River Center erupted with HARDY chants as Jeff struggled to his feet. He pointed down to each man before making the gun shape with his hand and raised it to his mouth to the delight of the Louisiana fans as things cut to the back.

The camera pans from the ground up to reveal Rey Mysterio warming up for his match later tonight with the WWE Champion, Randy Orton. Rey suddenly turns to his right as MVP appears in the shot to a great reaction from inside the arena. MVP assures Rey that he has his back when it comes to Legacy tonight. Rey shakes his hand and tells him not to worry, he has his back too. They won’t let Legacy play their games.

From the backstage area we cut to a recap video of the events of the Undertaker/Shawn Michaels feud that have happened since Wrestlemania. Shawn is shown walking down a hallway in the back and he receives a great reaction as the NEXT graphic appears on the screen and we fade to the Backlash commercial.

**LONGHORN**

The self-professed Wrestling God arrives in his usual white limousine to huge heat from the River Center. He ignores every single fan on the way to ringside and climbs inside with a smile on his face as he looks to the heavens and holds out his arms.

**I THINK I’M CUTE….I KNOW I’M SEXY**

The arena erupts for the Heart Break Kid as he half dances, half walks his way to the middle of the ramp and drops to his knees, the loud pyro shooting high above him into the air. He continues his way to the ring and stands across from JBL inside.

Match 2
Shawn Michaels vs. JBL

This was a curious match-up that suggested that just maybe, The Undertaker had gotten inside HBK’s head. Several times throughout the match, Mr. Wrestlemania hesitated or downright screwed up which gave JBL an overwhelming advantage. However, finding something deeper, Shawn managed to turn things around and after two atomic drops and a scoop slam, headed to the top rope for his patented elbow drop. But suddenly everything went dark and the ever ominous GONG of The Undertaker filled the arena. The lights flashed back on to reveal JBL stumbling into the ropes and Shawn falling down hard. They quickly flashed off again with the sound of another GONG before the lighting was restored for good. The fans gasped in shock as Shawn struggled to his feet onto to be absolutely clobbered by the Clothesline from Hell. His head smacked against the mat and JBL made the immediate cover for the three count victory.

Winner – JBL

After the match, JBL is on his feet getting his hand raised in victory while HBK lies on the mat holding his head and neck in pain. Bradshaw finally exits the ring and the camera zooms in on his defeated opponent who is now sitting slightly up in the ring and shaking his head. Shawn’s face tells a story of dejection, defeat and quite possibly……doubt?

JR and Cole hype up the fact that The Deadman is indeed playing mind games with HBK and succeeding very well as the camera cuts to Todd Grisham who is standing by with The Big Show. Show receives HUGE heat as he stands there with a shit eating grin on his face. Todd asks how he feels about his main event match with the newly returned Batista tonight. Suddenly the big man’s smile drops. He says he’ll get to Batista in a minute but first he wants to talk about CM Punk. Great pop for the mention of the Money in the Bank holder that causes Show to frown. “Oh that’s right. You people can cheer all you want but word is that Punk isn’t here tonight.” Boos. “And you wanna know why? It’s because I destroyed him, Monday night on Raw!” Even louder boos. “Punk thinks that because he won Money in the Bank that that makes him something? Let me tell ya right now, Punk, you’re nothing and I proved that when I beat your ass on Raw. As for Batista, I have absolutely NO problem giving you the same treatment. I’m just sorry that I’m going to ruin your big return……….actually, I’m not sorry at all.” After an evil grin, Show shoves the mic back into Todd’s chest, practically sending the younger man flying backwards and stalks off.

COMMERCIAL

**PRICELESS**

Ted DiBiase arrogantly strolls to the ramp to heavy boos and surprisingly, he is alone. Ted makes everybody aware of this fact by motioning around him for the absent Cody before getting inside the ring and yelling for MVP to get his ass out there already! There is a pause for a few moments, the fans getting antsy until…

**I’M COMIN**

A bigger than usual cheer shakes the rafters for Mr. 305, MVP as he bursts onto the entrance ramp. He soaks in the cheers, poses with his pyro and steps inside the ring as his music dies down and MVP chants start up in place of it.

Match 3
Ted DiBiase vs. MVP

Despite putting up a brave effort, not having his comrade at ringside seemed to be the biggest factor in DiBiase’s game plan for the night. The second generation superstar, after a failed attempt at the Dream Street found himself on the receiving end of the Playmaker. MVP made the cover for the victory and got his win back from Monday night to the delight of the Baton Rouge fans.

Winner – MVP

However, his victory is very short lived for no sooner has the referee raised his arm in victory, Cody Rhodes makes his second appearance of the night and explodes into the ring from somewhere at ringside for another ambush attack. Cody’s tackle takes them both to the ground and they scuffle for leverage. It is Cody who ends up on top and he rains down hard punches before getting to his feet. A recovered Ted joins in and the Legacy boys go to work on the downed United States Champion. Suddenly a HUGE pop goes up for REY MYSTERIO as he makes good on his promise from earlier tonight and sprints to the ring. Rey jumps onto the top turnbuckle and launches himself off, taking both Ted and Cody down. Orton’s henchmen quickly high tail it out of the ring and recoup outside while Rey helps MVP to his feet.

The babyfaces celebrate in the ring as the camera shifts, once again, back to Todd Grisham who is standing by with……….JOHN CENA! The appearance of the CeNation Commander brings about its usual split reaction but Cena shrugs it off and slaps Todd heartily on the back. Before Todd can speak Cena pulls the mic to his mouth and shakes his head. He says that the Legacy boys are all over Smackdown while he has nothing to do! “I have no scheduled match, I didn’t get my title match when I made the challenge earlier tonight, I can’t fight Chris Jericho because he’s on strike, I can’t fight Big Show because he’s going to get his ass whopped by Dave Batista, I can’t fight Randy Orton because he’s got a match with Rey Mysterio and I can’t fight Edge because…..WAIT A MINUTE, HOLD THE PHONE, JOSH!” Todd meekly interrupts and tries to correct the other man but it’s to no use. Cena’s eyes have grown wide and he holds his hands out enthusiastically. “Edge has nothing to do tonight…I have nothing to do tonight! I think I just might have solved this problem. Come on!” Cena walks off, Todd shrugs his shoulders and follows him with the camera crew right behind them. Cena strolls down the hallway and comes across a few empty locker rooms until he stops suddenly. A great cheer goes up from inside the arena as the camera zooms in on the nameplate on the door; Edge. Without knocking Cena bursts right in, almost giving the World Heavyweight Champion a heart attack! Edge jumps to his feet and holds up his hands.

“What do you want, Cena?”

“Well, seeing as you didn’t answer my challenge earlier tonight I’d figure I’d come and ask you personally,” Cena says. “So, how about it? You…me…for the World Heavyweight Championship TONIGHT!” Edge shakes his head causing the fans to boo and Cena to frown. He asks for just a regular match then without the title on the line. Once again Edge says no. “I don’t have to do anything now get the hell out of my locker room, Cena!” John removes his cap and scratches his head. He hands it over to Todd who takes it without question and quietly moves out of the way, already guessing what’s coming next. Cena shrugs his shoulders. “I thought you might say that. But still………sucks to be you.”

As soon as the words are out of his mouth he immediately lunges towards the Rated R Superstar sending them both flying backwards into the sofa. The River Center erupts as the two men brawl all over the damn room! All too soon however, officials and referees burst inside to break things off much to the displeasure of the fans. With half of them holding him back, Edge shouts across the room. “YOU WANT A PIECE OF ME SO BADLY, JOHN?”

“YOU’RE DAMN RIGHT I DO!” Cena yells back while getting held by the other half of the officials.

“YOU GOT IT GOD DAMMIT! THIS MONDAY, RAW!”

The Baton Rouge fans erupt for that announcement as a HUGE matchup is set in stone for the next edition of Raw! With both men staring a hole through each other the camera fades away.

We’re back and straight into a recap of what just transpired between Edge and John Cena. JR and Cole hype what has now been confirmed as the main event for Raw next week, a non-title bout between the pair. From here focus shifts to another brawl that occurred earlier tonight, that of Matt and Jeff. Cole confirms their match for Backlash and they will face off in a Steel Cage Match.

Things move backstage once again to the Legacy locker room where Ted and Cody are still fuming over Ted’s loss to MVP earlier in the night. While they pace back and forth, Randy Orton just sits in the corner, seemingly not even paying attention until he gets to his feet and the talking stops. He looks between the two men before clenching his jaw and looking straight ahead. “My match with Rey Mysterio is up next………..let me show you how it’s done.” He walks between them and for the door and they automatically go to follow him until he stops, turns and tells them to stay back here and learn. JR hypes that the match is coming our way NEXT!

**The bolts grow even bigger and are now going crazy on their respective side of the screen. Flashing images of WWE Superstars start to zip all over the place.**

Narrator: To change…

Vince McMahon Voiceover: It’s time to shake things up again!

Narrator: The WWE Draft! A 3 hour special of Monday Night Raw, LIVE, April 27th at 9/8ct on USA!

**BOOYAKA BOOYAKA**

A loud blast of pyro and a great response from the Baton Rouge fans accompany Rey Mysterio as he appears on the entrance ramp with his Intercontinental Title strapped around his waist. He stops to interact with some fans on his way to the ring before hitting the ropes to a loud cheer. There is a long pause and all eyes turn to the tron as we await the arrival of the WWE Champion.

**I HEAR VOICES**

The River Center erupts with MEGA heat for Randy Orton who ever so slowly and methodically walks onto the stage and then further on down to the ring. His eyes are cold as he climbs on to the middle turnbuckle and emphatically raises his title in the air to immense heat. After soaking in the boos for a moment he steps down and hands the title over before locking eyes with Mysterio across the ring. Both Cole and JR hype the shit out of this match. It’s IC Champion vs. WWE Champion and it’s happening RIGHT NOW!

Match 4
Randy Orton vs. Rey Mysterio

This match turned out to be a twenty minute classic in the making that had the entire house on its feet. Both Orton and Mysterio traded the advantage throughout the duration of the match before it finally fell to Orton for the home stretch. He threw Rey into the ropes and hit a thunderous powerslam for a 2 ¾ count! Showing no signs of frustration, The Viper pulled Rey to his feet and nailed a vicious uppercut, sending the smaller man back into the corner. Hoisting him up onto the middle turnbuckle, Orton grabbed his head between his arm and mid-section, his intentions clear as his eyes grew wide with venom. But he was unable to land the patented DDT. Rey, in desperation, managed to remove his foot from the rope and land a kick to the lower leg. Orton loosened his grip and Rey landed another…and another, finally sending Orton backwards. The Ultimate Underdog pulled himself to the top rope and launched himself off, landing a beautiful cross body to a huge pop. Quickly rolling off, Mysterio once again went to the top rope, looking to hit a big splash but in a magicians move, Orton found it in him somewhere and leaped off the mat, catching Rey in midair for a fucking sick RKO! Despite their dislike towards him, the fans could only pop in appreciation of the spectacular move as the WWE Champion made the cover and won a very hard fought match.

Winner – Randy Orton

The cheers for the awesome RKO very quickly turned to boos as Orton got to his feet with one arm grasping his ribs and the other raised high in the air by Mike Chioda. He suddenly shoved Chioda away and motioned to the ramp with his arm. “NOW!” he yelled, causing temporary confusion amongst JR and Cole until for the third time tonight, Legacy ran to the ring for what appeared to be another ambush. Ted and Cody hit the ring and all three Legacy members stood around Mysterio who was only just now getting to his feet. Without a seconds notice, all three men pounced, landing swift and hard kicks all over. They continued the beat down until a great cheer went up for MVP as he sprinted to the ring and immediately took down DiBiase. Rhodes and Orton were instantly on him and soon enough, the numbers game came into play. Orton ordered the Cross Rhodes on MVP while DiBiase hit the Dream Street on Mysterio. The fans booed the holy hell out of the three men in the ring as Orton was handed his WWE Championship. He grabbed the arms of his two young protégées and together, they raised their arms high in the air, Rhodes and DiBiase smiling confidently while Orton stood in the middle, his face emotionless.

From one heartless superstar to another, the camera fades away from the ring and to what appears to be a graveyard. Everything is dark with only the slightest hint of light. Out of the smoke, The Undertaker appears, his hat low over his eyes. The camera slowly zooms out to show Taker standing beside a grave marked number one. He starts to walk along and we see that he is walking beside a whole stretch of graves in ascending numerical order. “No names……………No faces……….Just numbers. My favorite number?” Taker has now stopped and the camera pans down to show the grave marked number seventeen. It slowly moves back to his face which has now been revealed under the brim of his hat to show an evil smile. Taker starts laughing, almost manically until he suddenly stops and rolls his eyes to the back of his head. A loud clap of thunder sounds in the background as the camera slowly shifts upwards and finally fades out with a shot of the moon.

We are back at ringside with JR and Michael Cole who give us a rundown of the brief Backlash card thus far. Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker, No Holds Barred and Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy in a Steel Cage. They speculate over the World Title situation before giving a rundown of the night’s chaotic events ranging from the opening promo to Legacy’s interference all night long to Edge and John Cena’s confrontation backstage. From all this JR sends it back to Todd Grisham for the final time tonight and he is standing by with Batista!

Todd asks The Animal his thoughts on the events of the show. Batista chuckles and says that he forgot how crazy this place can be sometimes. He says that he will deal with The Legacy and Randy Orton later for what they did to him at the start of the show but right now he’s focused on his match later tonight. This will be his first time in the ring in months. Is he feeling nervous? A little. But he also feels excited and he’s ready to kick Big Show’s ass all over Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The fans pop huge for that statement as the camera drifts back to ringside, leaving an intense Batista to prepare for his match.

**REALITY**

The other half of the Unified Tag Team Champions is now set for action and he receives great heat as he prances his way to the ring with Morrison in tow. The tag champs are one for one tonight already and Miz is hoping to make it two for two.

**AIR BOURNE**

The high flying Evan Bourne gets a pretty decent pop from the fans upon arriving on the stage. He energetically makes his way to the ring and slips under the bottom rope. Miz immediately laughs him off and receives a swift kick to the leg for his troubles. The Chick Magnet didn’t like that one bit and the bell rings as Miz runs after Bourne and they’re off!

Match 5
The Miz w/John Morrison vs. Evan Bourne

With all the dirty tactics in the book, Miz pulled out the win putting his team two for two in what was essentially a handicap match. The fans booed the tactics to hell, much to the pleasure of the tag team champs who reveled in it afterwards. Morrison walked to the side of the ring and shouted over that next week on Raw they would reveal the next team on the list in their Quest for Competition!

Winner – The Miz

The cameras are out in the parking lot now and focused on a familiar white limousine. We see a suited JBL ordering the driver to pack his bags in the trunk. Bradshaw turns around to get inside the car and pulls up when he sees Jack Swagger standing in front of him. He asks what he wants and Swagger says that he admires his true American values and that they have a lot in common. He also says how he watched the match with Shawn Michaels earlier in the night and that it was a hard earned victory. JBL is all smiles and pats the younger man on the back, telling him to get into the limo where they can talk over a few things. Swagger happily gets inside and the pair drive off.

Match 6
Number One Contender’s Match for Women’s Championship
Mickie James vs. Michelle McCool

Both girls went at it hard, both wanting to be the number one contender but it was Michelle McCool who came up with the victory after a run in from Maryse. When the match was over the French-Canadian proceeded to mock Mickie, then kicked her in the gut before walking away leaving everybody confused.

Winner – Michelle McCool

JR and Cole give some hype for the main event and talk over a split screen of Batista and Big Show walking in the back as the show heads to the final commercial of the night.

COMMERCIAL

**WEEEEELLLLLLLLLLL IT’S THE BIG SHOW**

Pyro shoots high into the air signaling the arrival of the World’s Largest Athlete. Show plods to the ring looking all sorts of angry and JR ponders just what it is that has gotten into him lately, especially following his attacks on Christian and CM Punk on Raw that have left both unable to compete tonight. Show is now in the ring and glaring at the fans at ringside.

**I WALK ALONE**

The River Center erupts for the second arrival of The Animal tonight. Batista is all fired up from the looks of things as he practically jumps around on the ramp and poses for the pyro behind him. He locks eyes with Big Show outside the ring, takes a beat and then slides inside going nose to nose with the big man.

Main Event
Batista vs. The Big Show

This truly was a battle of the behemoths as both of these huge superstars duked it out in the main event of the night. Show dominated early in but Batista’s fiery determination would not be denied. Show had The Animal cornered, landing clubbing blow after clubbing blow until Batista managed to lift a knee to the gut of the bigger man. With a scary show of strength, Batista literally shoved Big Show away with his hands. Show looked back at him, almost in shock and made a move to run towards him again but The Animal EXPLODED out of the corner and hit a huge spear that took both men over to the other side of the ring! The fans went wild and were ready to count the three but the ref stopped………Show’s foot was luckily under the ropes. Batista got back to his feet and shook the ropes wildly while the River Center soaked it in. He gave the thumbs down to a huge roar and stalked Show, finally grabbing him when he got back to his feet and attempting the Batista Bomb. But the bigger man was just too heavy and could not be lifted. Show forced his way out of the other man’s grasp and clamped his hand down for a chokeslam. He actually had Batista up and in the air but he broke free, landed back on his feet and drilled through Show with a second SPEAR! This time it was too much and to the delight of everybody in the arena, Batista won his first match back in action.

Winner – Batista

Big Dave celebrated on the right hand turnbuckle before exiting the ring without much fanfare. He stood at the top of the ramp and smiled as Big Show fumed in the ring before disappearing to the back. Show managed to get up to one knee before the roof blew off at the sight of CM PUNK jumping the barricade, briefcase in hand. He slid into the ring behind Show and climbed onto the middle rope, his Money in the Bank briefcase poised to strike. The big man eventually turned around and Punk launched himself off the ropes, whacking the other man right in the head with the metal weapon to a huge pop from the fans. Punk stood over the fallen Show and once again held the briefcase high in the air to another loud cheer as This Fire Burns played out the end of the show.

i really like your BTB, its really intresting. The card is really good for backlash so far, looks to can even beat WrestleMania 25, if you lay down all the matches. Just make sure you dont make every match with a stipulation or it can be like extreme rules.

As for your shows, i like the format. I will make a big review for backlash when its posted, im also suprised you had edge retain. Its a very good move to do that because that could mean we wouldnt see a cena/edge match at Backlash, maybe a new contender perhaps?

Great BTB More to come from me !

Thanks to cocobware and NotTheRealOwen for your comments. I guess I could do a predictions contest for Backlash although you'll probably be the only one who does it lol. I figure this is my lot for SD so I'm just going to post some news and notes to keep things rolling while I work on Raw. I should have a preview up in a couple of days.

BREAKING NEWS!

WWE.COM can exclusively reveal that at Backlash, CM Punk and The Big Show will square off in one-on-one competition! Since Wrestlemania, both superstars have found themselves on opposing ends of what is turning out to be a heated rivalry. Big Show brutally attacked Punk after his victory over the big man the week prior. This led to a retaliation attack by Punk the next week on Raw. With the match now set for Backlash, The Straight Edge Master and The World's Largest Athlete will finally get the change to settle their differences. Can Punk continue the momentum of his Money in the Bank victory at Wrestlemania? Or will Show be too big of a challenge? WWE Backlash comes to you live from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis on April 26th. Call your local cable subscriber for details!

A rivalry reignited!

After John Cena barged into the World Heavyweight Champions locker room on Friday night demanding a match with or without the title on the line, a backstage brawl erupted between the pair. When finally separated by officials and referees, The Rated R Superstar made the challenge, the CeNation Commander accepted and our main event for Monday night was set – John Cena vs. Edge in a non-title bout! Who will come out on top in this huge match? Tune in to Monday Night Raw to find out!

The Backlash card is now starting to take shape with HBK vs. The Undertaker, Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy and now CM Punk vs. The Big Show recently added. Word has it that both Rey Mysterio and MVP will defend their titles. One source tells us that Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase are possible opponents along with some sort of multi man match. Speaking of championships, the big question over the weekend is still what is going to happen with both World Titles. Randy Orton, Edge, John Cena and Batista are all involved with each other in storylines and one would expect some combination of the four to make up both main events. Several sources have confirmed to us that Cena will face Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship while Batista will face Orton for the WWE Championship. These matches are expected to be announced within the week.

Even more rumors are swirling about who the GM’s of each show are going to be. Some within the company actually feel that Chris Jericho will be named as one given his current displeasure with the lack of authority on the show. As well as Jericho, the usual suspects of Eric Bischoff, Paul Heyman and Shane McMahon have been thrown around more than ever. Whoever they are, it is expected that they will be revealed before the draft on April 27th.

Creative and more importantly, Vince McMahon, are said to be very pleased with the reaction to CM Punk. His fan reactions since Wrestlemania have been getting consistently louder and with such names as John Cena, Batista, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker appearing on each show, Punk is receiving semi-equal pops. Our sources say that he is in for a huge push, possibly even until next year’s Wrestlemania where he will cash in the Money in the Bank and become a World Champion.

Some injury news now, Umaga and Mr. Kennedy, two names that have been out on the injured list are making strides and are set to return soon. McMahon is high on both and pushes are also expected for them whatever show they may end up on.

And finally some big news, it is being reported that Kurt Angle has been in talks with WWE personnel about a return to the company. However, his contract with TNA doesn’t expire until the summer so nothing is set to happen anytime soon.

Excited for your Backlash pay-per-view, especially giving some time and damn about CM Punk once more as he will face The Big Show. I think BS is the heel of the situation and he's the face. This is juicy and interesting to see on your pay-per-view.

2 matches still on Backlash? Well, I think it will be added on the last weeks before the pay-per-view. Well, not really 2 but it is a 3 matches on the card. Excited to see the two feuds from the real 'Mania!

I'm really happy that this seems to be picking up some interest now. I have made a start on Raw but probably won't have it up for a few days. Here's a preview to hold things over until then.

WWE 2009 - Bridging The Gap

WWE Monday Night Raw Preview, April 20th 2009

'Fatal Four Way'

A rivalry reignited!

After John Cena barged into the World Heavyweight Champions locker room on Friday night demanding a match with or without the title on the line, a backstage brawl erupted between the pair. When finally separated by officials and referees, The Rated R Superstar made the challenge, the CeNation Commander accepted and our main event for Monday night was set – John Cena vs. Edge in a non-title bout! Who will come out on top in this huge match? Tune in to Monday Night Raw to find out!

Briefcase Blues

Last week on Raw, Big Show took it upon himself to attack Mr. Money in the Bank. Word quickly spread that Punk would not be in Baton Rouge come Friday for Smackdown. But the joke was on Big Show. After getting defeated by Batista in his in-ring return to action, Show came face to briefcase with the Straight Edge Master’s most prized possession. Punk celebrated over the fallen monster as Smackown came to a close. With both men set to be in attendance for Raw, can the Alltel Arena contain their inevitable confrontation?

The Numbers Game

Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton ran amuck this past Friday Night interfering in matches and attacking everybody in sight from Batista to Rey Mysterio to MVP. However, it was only the WWE Champion that was victorious in his match against Mysterio, DiBiase having fallen to MVP. A huge six man tag team match has been set for Raw pitting The Legacy against Rey Mysterio, MVP and Batista! Who will come out with the upper hand with the numbers now even on both sides?

The Deadman Cometh

While not physically on Smackdown this week, The Undertaker’s presence was still as strong as ever. During HBK’s match against JBL, the ever ominous gong sounded twice, causing mass confusion and Michaels to fall from the top rope enabling JBL to take advantage and nail a devastating Clothesline from Hell. This week, in a rare Raw appearance, The Phenom will see action against the same opponent as he goes one on one with JBL. With Shawn Michaels also in the building, will Taker suffer the same fate as The Heartbreak Kid and fall victim to The Wrestling God?

The Quest Continues

Both members of the Unified Tag Team Champions saw singles action on Smackdown. While The Miz managed to successfully put away Evan Bourne, Matt Hardy’s interference resulted in a no contest between his brother and John Morrison. The Tag Champs have promised to continue their Quest for Competition this Monday night on Raw. Who is next on the list?

Confirmed

John Cena vs. Edge

The Legacy vs. MVP, Rey Mysterio & Batista

The Undertaker vs. JBL

Finally got this done lol. Haven't even made any sort of start on Smackdown at all so it might be a while until I get it up. I hope to have some news and notes and a Smackdown Preview posted before then though to keep the fire burning. I'm also having some second thoughts on the rosters I have decided on for each show. For whatever reason I'm starting to change my mind on things. Anyways, that's all for the future. Here's Raw.

WWE Monday Night Raw
April 20th 2009
Alltel Arena – Little Rock, AR

‘Fatal Four Way’

We are into the home stretch and the final few shows before Backlash this Sunday and the Alltel Arena is absolutely rocking as the show opens to a wide shot of the crazy fans. The intro and pyro are forgotten about and one of the biggest matches of the night is set to kick things off.

**I HEAR VOICES**

An astronomical amount of heat erupts at the first notes of the WWE Champion’s theme song and only grows louder as he slowly emerges from behind the curtain flanked by both DiBiase and Rhodes on either side. The trio methodically makes their way to the ring, the two youngsters soaking in the heat while their leader looks as emotionless as ever. They climb inside, DiBiase and Rhodes taking a turnbuckle each to raise their arms high while Orton stands in the middle and raises his title to an eruption of boos. The Arkansas fans are all over Legacy tonight as they await their opponents.

**BOOYAKA BOOYAKA**

Rey Mysterio bursts onto the stage from behind an explosion of pyro to a huge reaction. It’s clear that the fans here tonight are rowdy and ready for a great Raw. Rey stops to interact with some children before stopping at ringside and looking warily into the ring. He may be the Ultimate Underdog but he isn’t stupid and waits for the rest of his team to arrive on the outside.

**IM COMIN’**

Another raucous cheer goes up for the United States Champion, MVP as he bounces his way down the ramp and waits alongside the first of his tag partners. There is a small smattering of MVP chants before the place fucking erupts.

**I WALK ALONE**

Every fan is on their feet and going wild for The Animal, Batista!! Big Dave looks all hyped up, mimicking the explosive actions of his pyro as it shoots off behind him before practically sprinting to the ring and sliding inside. He is quickly joined by Mysterio and MVP and all 6 men stand face to face in the ring.

Referee Mike Chioda already has his hands full and bravely steps into the middle of the standoff, directing each team to its side of the ring. Mysterio starts for his team while DiBiase steps up for his. The bell rings and a great cheer sounds for the beginning of this huge match up.

Match 1
The Legacy vs. Rey Mysterio, MVP & Batista

As expected, this match had the house going crazy with close call after close call. The finishing stretch came about with DiBiase and Batista in the ring. Batista nailed a thunderous spine buster as Ted yelped in pain. The fans went nuts as The Animal shook the ropes, signaling the end for the young second generation superstar. But very quickly things broke down as Cody Rhodes ran into the ring and clobbered Batista from behind. The big man stumbled forward and MVP made the blind tag but stayed on the outside. Instead it was Rey Mysterio who climbed to the top rope, jumped off and landed on top of Rhodes to a huge pop. With those two out of the picture, MVP finally got into the ring and together with Batista, they started stomping away on DiBiase. Chioda had completely lost control at this stage and just decided to let things play out the way they would. MVP set up Ted for the Playmaker when Orton slithered into the ring. Batista instantly ran to hit the spear but Orton dodged the attack and moved out of the way sending The Animal crashing into the ring post. While all this was going on, Ted took advantage of the distraction and wiggled his way out of MVP’s grasp, the two brawled for a few moments until MVP got the upper hand. He punched and punched, moving DiBiase further back and further back until he had enough room and ran forward with the intentions of hitting a big boot. But he ran right into the awaiting Randy Orton who hit a pin point RKO, then practically ordered Chioda to make the three count as Ted made the cover.

Winner – The Legacy

As soon as the bell rings to signal the end of the match, Orton begins shouting to Cody who is now on the outside and getting to his feet. Hearing his leader’s orders, Cody grabs all three title belts sitting at ringside and rolls under the bottom rope. The Viper takes his WWE title while both Rhodes and DiBiase take a title each. The heat in the arena is at crazy levels as the fans watch each member of the losing team struggle to their feet. First Rey, who gets blasted with his own Intercontinental Championship belt, then MVP who after making it to one knee and then finally the other also gets clobbered with his own title belt. All eyes turn to the fallen Batista. He has his back turned while he tries to stand up. The fans are practically begging him to realize what is going on behind him as Orton seethes in anticipation. Batista finally turns around and just like his team mates, suffers the same fate as Orton hits him right on the head with the WWE title. The heat is pouring down on Legacy as they stand in the middle of the ring surveying the mess they have created. Slowly and with purpose, Orton raises the arms of his young cohorts, all three with a title in their hand as Michael Cole has a fit on commentary.

Cole: God damn it! Orton, Rhodes and DiBiase, all three standing tall after this massacre!

King: When these guys get up you know there is going to be hell to pay. I just can’t believe Legacy pulled it off.

Cole: This is a statement from Legacy, King. This is Orton letting everybody know that they are the dominant force in the WWE. I just wonder who, if anybody, is going to be able to stop them?

COMMERCIAL

We are right back from commercial and straight into a recap of what just happened. As King and Cole run over the events, Cole suddenly interrupts by announcing two new matches for Backlash. Rey Mysterio will defend the Intercontinental Championship against Cody Rhodes and MVP will defend the United States Championship against Ted DiBiase!!! King puts over the fact that all three Legacy members could walk out of Backlash as champions.

Right after his comment things move to the backstage area where Legacy is shown celebrating in their locker room to super heat. Ted and Cody high five each other, looking smug as ever while Randy Orton, as usual, stands between them looking cold and emotionless. Orton tells his partners that they performed well tonight but their work is not done. “I want ZERO threats to my WWE Championship. We’ve already taken care of Batista, with the added bonus of Mysterio and MVP. Later tonight, we take out John Cena too.” A huge amount of boos can be heard from inside the arena as Ted and Cody just smile while the Champion himself even manages the tiniest of smirks too.

From the Legacy locker room the shot changes to show Chris Jericho pacing around his own room. The heat in the arena remains as Jericho turns around and we see that he is talking on his cell phone. “And you’re absolutely sure? One hundred percent? Yes! This is perfect…………yes…………I’ll make the announcement tonight…………and just so you know, if this turns out to be wrong there’s going to serious hell to pay. Do you understand what I’m saying to you? You better!” Jericho hangs up the phone and looks right ahead as a huge smile appears on his face. King and Cole wonder just what the hell he is up to as things fade to the ever hyped draft promo for next week’s Raw.

A quick recap video of Maryse attacking Mickie during her number one contenders match against Michelle McCool on Smackdown is shown. Maryse makes her way to the ring along with her tag partner, Michelle McCool. Next out are Mickie James and Melina.

Match 2
Maryse & Michelle McCool vs. Mickie James & Melina

This turned out to be over rather quickly for as soon as Mickie got her hands on Maryse, the blond practically ran to the back with Mickie hot on her heels. Seizing the opportunity, Michelle hit the Fallen Angel and covered the Women’s Champion for the victory. After the match she held the title up high in a show of strength before both women go head to head this Sunday at Backlash.

Winner – Michelle McCool & Maryse

Things shift from a shot of McCool in the ring to the parking lot area where a flashy sports car pulls in and out steps none other than John Cena! A massive pop erupts at the sight of the CeNation Commander and it is clear that there is virtually no split in the audience tonight. Cena grabs his bag from the passenger seat and starts to make his way into the arena when he is suddenly stopped by Todd Grisham. Todd quickly fills John in on what went down earlier tonight before asking for his thoughts. Cena looks straight ahead then right into the camera, his face serious. “I’ve only got one thing on my mind tonight, Todd and that’s beating Edge. But Randy, if you wanna get involved you had better believe me when I say that I’ll be ready and waiting.” He stares for a few seconds longer before turning and going on his way.

COMMERCIAL

We are once again back in the parking lot but this time a white limo has pulled in and JBL steps out of it. He orders the driver to get his bags from the back and as he is waiting, Jack Swagger walks into the shot. The two men smile at each other. Swagger says that he has every faith that JBL will defeat the Undertaker tonight because it’s the American way. JBL agrees, Swagger takes the bags from the driver and the pair head inside the arena.

Match 3
Kofi Kingston vs. Kane

In a very competitive match up it was Kofi Kingston who came out the victor after reversing a chokeslam attempt and nailing the Trouble in Paradise. After the match Kofi celebrated with the fans while Kane walked away with an unreadable expression on his face. Just before the camera cut to the Backlash promo we saw Kofi interacting with some young fans at ringside.

Winner – Kofi Kingston

Narrator: WWE Backlash, live on Pay Per View, Sunday April 26th!

Things once again move to the Legacy locker room. All three men are still in their ring gear and are surprised to see the World Heavyweight Champion enter the room. A huge amount of boos sound from inside the arena as both World Champion and WWE Champion come face to face. Edge says that he heard what Orton said earlier and he’s here to ask him to stay away. Orton looks at him skeptically while he continues talking. “Cena barged into my locker room last week and tried to humiliate me. I beat him at Wrestlemania and tonight I will beat him again. And when I do, he can’t lay any claim to my title.” Edge runs his hand protectively over the title on his shoulder. “I’m asking that you stay away from my match tonight.” The two men have an intense stare off before Orton looks Edge dead in the eye and shrugs his shoulders. “Maybe.” Edge sarcastically nods his head, his face screwing up in displeasure before turning around, walking right through Rhodes and DiBiase and out of the room. The camera follows him as he walks down the hallway. He rounds the corner and almost walks right into CM PUNK! The fans pop huge for Punk who just nods his head at Edge’s title and smirks while tapping his briefcase. The NEXT graphic appears on the screen before we fade to commercial.

**THIS FIRE BURNS**

The Straight Edge Master, CM Punk makes his way onto the stage to a HUGE reaction from the Arkansas fans. Everybody is on their feet to see Mister Money in the Bank tonight. Cole and King run over the happenings of his feud with Big Show while he walks to the ring. Punk grabs a mic and lifts his briefcase high in the air. He looks at it and with a smirk on his face says, “Got briefcase?” The fans pop loudly as Punk smiles and starts to pace around the ring. “It seems like I’ve gotten myself into a little bit of trouble recently. You see, two weeks ago I had the misfortune of pinning Big Show in a tag match after he got hit in the head with the World Heavyweight Championship by Edge. Naturally, you would assume that Big Show would go after Edge. But for whatever reason, Show has decided to come after me. Last week on Raw, I’ll admit it, he beat the crap outta me. But this past Friday night? I beat the crap outta him when I smacked this briefcase right into his head.” Another pop from the fans who are simply eating Punk up right now. A loud CM PUNK chant breaks out, causing him to smile before continuing. “And now it’s announced that we have a match at Backlash. Big Show, I came out here tonight to let you know that I’m not scared. You may be the largest athlete in the world but you aren’t CM Punk! That’s why I’m calling you out……..right here…….RIGHT NOW!” All eyes turn to the entrance ramp, eagerly anticipating the arrival of the giant and they don’t have to wait very long.

**WELLLLLLLLLLL IT’S THE BIG SHOW**

Big Show practically runs out from behind the curtain and in no time is standing on the ring apron. The Alltel arena is going crazy over the confrontation as both men lock eyes. Show moves to lift his leg over the rope and is immediately set upon by Punk who starts kicking him left, right and center. Show is forced to lift his leg back over while Punk kicks him. He reaches out and with his massive hand engulfs the smaller man’s head, leaning forward and sending Punk flying with a headbut. Once again he lifts one big leg over the top rope but just like before, Punk is on him with kicks galore. Punk moves his kicks higher and lands one right on the side of Show’s face. The big man starts to wobble before he’s knocked right to the ground by the briefcase. A huge cheer goes up and Punk holds the weapon high in the air and looks down at Show on the floor below him. He throws the briefcase down to the ground and runs off to the opposite side of the ring. When he comes back he flies over the top rope and crash lands on Big Show to another loud pop. Punk gets to his feet and thrusts his hands in the air while Show lays beaten on the floor. The ball seems to be in his court and for the second show in a row, Punk has the upper hand. King and Cole speculate whether Punk was wise to goad the Big Show like that before they start to run down the Backlash card.

Punk vs. Show…

Matt vs. Jeff in a Steel Cage…

Ted vs. MVP for the US Title…

Rey vs. Cody for the IC Title…

Melina vs. Michelle McCool for the Women’s Title…

And The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michales!!

The graphic for their match appears on the screen and the fans pop hard. JBL is shown walking down a hallway backstage. It’s JBL vs. The Undertaker and its NEXT!

COMMERCIAL

**LONGHORN**

As always, heavy boos greet the Wrestling God as he steps out of his limo. They have no effect as JBL confidently makes his way to the ring, fresh off his victory against Shawn Michaels the week prior.

**GONG**

The arena turns dark and the fans go fucking batshit crazy.

**GONG**

The stage area grows smoky and the lights suddenly turn blue as the ominous figure of The Undertaker emerges out of the smoke.

**GRAVEYARD SYMPHONY**

A MASSIVE ovation erupts for The Deadman who carries out his usual slow entrance to the ring. JBL shows no signs of fear as Taker steps inside and the pair lock eyes.

Match 4
The Undertaker vs. JBL

The Deadman was taking the so called Wrestling God to school in this match. After a flurry of offense in the beginning, the pendulum quickly swung to Taker who seemed to be using this match to send a message. The recipient of said message was Shawn Michaels and just as Taker climbed to the top rope for some old school…….

**I THINK IM CUTE…….I KNOW IM SEXY**

A HUGE roar filled the Alltel Arena for HBK as he appeared on the ramp, much to the displeasure of The Undertaker who, falling for the distraction, was yanked to the floor by JBL. The arena soon fell into a frenzy of split chants; half UN-DER-TAKER and half H-B-K. Shawn slowly walked his way to the ring, pleased that he was having the desired effect and then hopped onto the apron. With Taker on one knee, JBL ran off the ropes with the intentions of hitting the Clothesline from Hell but he got caught! The Phenom latched his hand around the other man’s throat as he got to his feet and spotted Shawn on the apron. With his eyes locked on to his opponent this Sunday, he hoisted JBL high into the air and landed the chokeslam! The fans popped loudly in approval as HBK stood there motionless. As Taker made the cover and the ref began counting, Shawn slowly stepped down off the apron and started to backtrack.

Winner – The Undertaker

While the referee raises Taker’s hand in victory, he is still staring a hole through HBK who is now more than halfway up the ramp, his expression solemn. The Heartbreak Kid’s plan obviously didn’t go the way he wanted to and he was forced to stand at the top of the ramp and watch as the lights turned blue and Undertaker dropped to one knee, his hand reaching out and eyes rolling to the back of his head to the sound of a loud clap of thunder. As the two men continue to stare each other out, the commentators hype the shit out of their match at Backlash until the screen fades to the draft promo once again.

We’re backstage now where JBL is fuming after his loss. As he walks throughout the hallways to his locker room he comes across Jack Swagger and promptly yells at the youngster, blaming him for his defeat. “WHERE THE HELL WHERE YA SON?” Swagger grimaces and tries to calm the older man down before he is seemingly struck by an idea. “Don’t you worry! I’ll get revenge……yes, that’s right, I’ll get revenge because this Friday night……..I’m challenging The Undertaker TO A MATCH!” The Alltel arena lets out a great pop at Swagger’s announcement. JBL looks at the other man in slight shock before nodding and slapping him on the back. “You’ll see Mr. Layfield. I’ll beat The Undertaker and afterwards we’ll both teach him a lesson; you don’t mess Jack Swagger and JBL and you don’t mess with America!”

King and Cole laugh on commentary at Swagger’s comments. “You don’t mess with America?” But things quickly turn serious as they hand off to Todd Grisham who is standing by with………BATISTA!! The Arkansas fans pop big time for The Animal who is still dressed to compete and holding his hand over his face. Todd asks his thoughts on his tag team loss to Legacy tonight. “Randy thinks he runs this place and he’s doing whatever the hell he wants. Well I’m not having it. He wants to beat me down with the WWE Title after our match tonight? Fine. He wants to interfere in the main event? That’s fine too. You see, John Cena has never been my friend but if Orton goes out there tonight……..then I’m going too and you can bet your ass I’m going to introduce his head to the WWE title and the World Heavyweight Title not to mention my foot up his ass!” An enraged Batista shoves Todd away to a huge pop as things heat up even further regarding the main event tonight. Will both Orton and Batista make an appearance?

**BREAK THE WALLS DOWN**

The Alltel Arena pours a ton of heat onto Chris Jericho as he steps out from behind the curtain and walks to the ring looking sharp as ever in a grey pinstripe suit. He snatches a mic from the hand of some poor technician and lets out a shit eating grin. “I know something you don’t know!” The fans only boo louder at his cocky attitude but it spurs him on as usual. “Ever since I went on a strike a few weeks ago, I have made it my mission to go in search of the very thing I was striking against – the lack of authority in this damn company. Now, while I can’t say I was ever Vince or Shane or Stephanie’s best friend, at least with them around there was law and order around here. But no, ever since Randy Orton punted them all into oblivion, the inmates have been running the asylum and you know what? An honest man just can’t stand for that. That’s why I have taken it upon myself to find out who these mystery General Managers are and my sources tell me that we have made a breakthrough. That’s why; this Friday night I will REVEAL the new General Manager of Smackdown!” Despite their feelings towards Jericho himself, the fans pop big time for his announcement. “I’ll see you all, Friday.” With another huge grin, Jericho drops the mic and starts to climb out of the ring.

Cole: Jericho’s going to reveal the Smackdown Genreal Manager!

King: This Friday night! How the hell did he find out who it is?

Cole: Never mind how he found it, all that matters is that he knows and come Friday we’re going to know too!

King: Oh this is big BIG news! I wonder who it is, I wonder who IT IS!!

Things once again move to the backstage area where Edge is pacing around his locker room and looks seriously ready to go. He looks into the camera and shakes his head. “John Cena. You and I have a lot of history together. Three years ago I cashed in the Money in the Bank to win my first ever WWE Championship. I took it from you, I won my first ever WWE title from you. And ever since then we have been enemies, bitter rivals as they say. But this isn’t some rivalry or feud you can stick a catchphrase on. I.HATE.YOU, John. I hate you! I hate that you beat me just a few weeks later to take back the title. I hate that you FU’d me through a million tables at Unforgiven and defeated me in my hometown. I hate that you got involved with me at Wrestlemania this year, I hate everything about you! And tonight I’m going to prove to everybody how I’ve always been just one step ahead of the ‘CeNation.’” Edge mimics the action of parenthesis with his fingers as the fans boo his tirade. “Tonight, I beat you again and you officially move to the back of the line. I’ll see you out there, John,” he whispers as the promo comes to an end and things switch back to the arena.

**NO MORE WORDS**

Jeff Hardy dances onto the stage to a great reception from the Arkansas fans with Christian at his side. Christian watches on in bemusement at Jeff dances while the pyro explodes behind him before the duo makes their way to the ring.

**OHHHHH YEAHHHHHH**

This time the elder Hardy appears on the ramp and the former cheers turn to boos. He is accompanied by William Regal. The pair climbs into the ring and we are ready for the penultimate match of the night.

Match 5
Jeff Hardy & Christian vs. Matt Hardy & William Regal

This was a pretty standard match up that saw Christian get worked over for the most part until finally making the hot tag to his partner. Jeff exploded into the ring, hitting a flying lariat on Regal. It was at this point that Matt decided to once again walk out on a tag team match as he stepped off the ring apron and just stood there watching on. Jeff pointed to the outside, right at his brother and yelled, “WATCH!” as Christian nailed the Killswitch to a great pop. It only grew louder as Jeff leaped to the top rope, stuck out his arms and jumped off, landing a perfect Swanton Bomb for the victory. The fans popped hard as Jeff and Christian celebrated in the ring while Matt fumed on the outside.

Winner – Jeff Hardy & Christian

**AINT NO MAKE BELIEVE**

The Unified Tag Team Champions are out of the blocks to super heat from the Alltel Arena. Miz and Morrison as their usual cocky selves just stroll to the ring, taunting fans and rubbing their titles all the way. They stand in the ring and wait until the “YOU SUCK” chants directed at them die down before speaking. Miz tells everybody to get a good look at what a champion looks like. Get a good look at The Miz and John Morrison! The fans boo as Morrison tells them that their Quest is already off to a flying start, just as they knew it would be. In just a few short weeks they have ticked off one of the most successful tag teams of the modern era in the Hardy Boyz. Miz buts in and belittles the Hardy brothers, saying how they could be considered as contenders for their titles if they weren’t involved in a stupid family feud that nobody cares about. His tag partner agrees before stating that the Hardyz are officially crossed off the list. A graphic appears on the tron showing Hardy Boyz with a line put through it. And now it’s time to move on! Miz panders to the fans for a few minutes, throwing out names and asking them who they think is next before finally revealing that it is………………………………CRYME TYME!! This leads to an impromptu mocking session as both men throw out several ‘dawgs’ and ‘yo’s.’ Morrison announces that this Friday on Smackdown, The Miz and John Morrison will beat Cryme Tyme and mark another team off their list. Miz adds that they will come face to face with a reality check…..courtesy of your Unified Tag Team Champions.

COMMERCIAL

We are back from the final commercial of the night. King and Cole hype Backlash, hype the matches set for Smackdown, HYPE the fact that the new GM will be revealed this Friday and then hype up the main event that is set to happen RIGHT NOW before the camera pans back to a wide shot of the arena, then zooms in on the entrance ramp.

**MY TIME IS NOW**

The Alltel arena ERUPTS for John Cena who forgoes his usual happy routine tonight, instead giving a very serious salute into the camera before running to the ring. He bounces off the ropes, throws his hat and shirt into the crowd before turning all of his attention to the ramp. He is left waiting for a few moments, the Rated R Superstar toying around a little.

**YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME**

The World Heavyweight Champion walks onto the stage looking just as serious as his opponent in the ring. Edge walks halfway down the ramp and locks eyes with Cena. He just stands there as the pyro shoots off behind him, then walks on down the ramp. The seriousness of both men highlights just how important this match is. If Edge wins, Cena goes to the back of the line. If Cena wins, surely that means he’s set for a title opportunity. And that’s without mentioning the history between the pair. With both men now in the ring and every fan on their feet, Mike Chioda calls for the bell.

Main Event
Non-Title Match
John Cena vs. Edge

This huge main event got plenty of time and was coming up to just after the twenty minute mark which saw both men flat on their back in the center of the ring. Just like they had been all night, there was nothing but love for John Cena and the fans were begging him to get back to his feet. As it were, the CeNation Commander began to stir and beside him Edge was doing the exact same thing. Both men got to their feet and Cena threw the first bomb, landing a big right hand to a resounding cheer. Edge stumbled back and then stumbled forward, landing a big right of his own to a heavy BOO. They continued trading bombs…

YAY

BOO

YAY

BOO

YAY

BOO

Edge lands another………………and another! Cena is reeling and gets backed against the ropes. Edge whips him to the other side but Cena ducks under his clothesline and nails a shoulder block! Edge gets up and eats another! Cena grabs him and gets him into position for his patented modified powerbomb. He raises Edge up into the air but it is reversed! Edge fights out of it and manages to land a thunderous DDT laying Cena flat out. The Heavyweight Champion starts to pull at his hair and the Alltel arena erupts into hysteria as they all know what’s coming. The Champion continues to pull at his hair as he moves to the corner of the ring and bends down, bouncing on his knees and practically salivating as Cena slowly starts to get up. “GET UP CENA! GET UP!” Just as John turns around Edge bursts across the ring and nails the SPEAR! He makes the cover…

NO!

Cena just about manages to get his shoulder up to an absolutely RAUCOUS pop. Edge grabs his hair again only this time in shock. He can’t believe it. He angrily gets up and stomps to the corner again, the fans booing the hell out of him as he bounces impatiently. When Cena eventually gets up, Edge runs, looking to hit a second spear and end the match but is caught in a drop toe hold. Cena scurries over his fallen body and locks in the STFU! The Alltel Arena comes UNGLUED with suspense as Cena rakes back hard, ripping and pulling at Edge’s shoulder and neck. The Champion’s screams can be heard as he scrambles around, aimlessly searching for the ropes. He starts to inch his way over………….

………..inching……………

………..and inching……………

……………and inching………………

…………..until he finally makes a desperate attempt to grab the bottom rope……………………

………………..and makes it!

Cena locks in the hold up to the 4 count before he is forced to break it. Sticking to his guns, Cena yanks Edge right back into the middle of the ring and looks to lock in his submission move again but instead is met with a big right boot to the face. He comes forward, obviously looking to try again but meets another boot to the face. The Champion struggles to his feet, well his good foot, and stumbles forward only to be caught, hoisted onto Cena’s shoulders and planted to the mat. The fans go crazy for the FU and Cena makes the cover…

NO!!!

This time it is Edge who shocks everybody by reaching deep and kicking out of Cena’s finishing maneuver. The CeNation Commander grasps at his head in frustration as the match continues. Just what is it going to take to put either man away? As Cena stands up and starts to re-strategize, the noise level in the arena grows loud in fervent boos. Randy Orton along with DiBiase and Rhodes is on the ramp and casually strolling to the ringside area. John catches sight of them and looks around the ring where he is now surrounded. Before anything further can happen however, BATISTA storms down the ramp and without any hesitation, jumps Orton! Rhodes and DiBiase join the fight but the numbers are quickly evened up as Rey Mysterio and MVP charge down to a MASSIVE pop. Things have quickly broken down here.

Cena watches what’s going on on the outside.

Edge, through gritted teeth is back on his feet and stalking his opponent from behind.

Batista, Orton, MVP, DiBiase, Mysterio and Rhodes are beating the hell out of each other on the outside.

Cena turns around…..

Edge tries for the spear again….

Cena leapfrogs right over him….

Now Edge turns around….

And is hoisted up for a second FU!

A scary pop is heard as Cena makes the cover and gets the win after a seriously hard fought battle. The place is literally buzzing with noise and electricity. Chioda raises Cena’s hand in victory.

Winner – John Cena

When the match is over, Cena is standing tall in the ring and after a few seconds, Legacy decide to retreat, jumping the barricade and scurrying off. The trio on the outside look up at John Cena who is now on the turnbuckle holding his hands high as he lets out a loud yell. It is with this image that the screen fades to black.
