Re: WWE 2005: Raising the Bar

WWE Smackdown! 4/15/05- United Center, Chicago, Illinois

Opening video plays and pyro hits.

Michael Cole: Hello everybody and welcome to Friday Night Smackdown! Iím Michael Cole alongside Tazz and partner, what a show we have lined up here tonight!

Tazz: These folks in Chicago better be ready Cole. We have got ourselves a blockbuster show baby.

Michael Cole: JBL meets Booker T in our main event later for a place in the semi-finals of the #1 contenders tournament!!

Cole is cut off as ĎOne of a kindí hits to a rousing response as Rob Van Dam makes his way to the ring.

Michael Cole: Speaking of the #1 contenders tournament, we are kicking things off with Rob Van Dam one on one with Kurt Angle!!

Tazz: Cole, this is gonna be summin special lemme tell ya. When ya got two guys with the skill of Van Dam and Angle goiní at it, we are gonna be in for a treat here tonight.

ĎMedalí hits as Angle makes his way down to the ring to a chorus of boos.

Michael Cole: Well, Kurt Angle is on a roll Tazz. At Wrestlemania he beat the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels and last week he decimated Shannon Moore. RVD is going to have to be on his game here tonight to get past Kurt Angle.

Tazz: Ainít no doubt about it Cole. I havenít seen Angle this focused, this intense for, well, for as long as I can remember.

Match One- Singles match- #1 contenders tournament

Kurt Angle vs RVD

The bell rings and Van Dam immediately goes after Angle, Angle though takes Van Dam down with a go behind before trying to take RVD with a head scissors. Van Dam counters however and kicks Angle square in the mouth, knocking Angle flat out and going for an early pinfall, but the Olympic champion kicks out at one.

Van Dam goes for an early attempt at rolling thunder but Angle was playing possum and gets up to take Van Dam down with an arm drag as he goes to work on the left arm of RVD. Angle has the left arm of Van Dam being stretched at its fullest as the crowd starts an RVD chant. The adrenaline kicks in and RVD forces himself up and out of the predicament, going to work on Angle with a series of hard kicks, but Angle ducks one to the head and hitís a brutal belly to belly suplex on Van Dam before posing for the crowd. The boos ring through the United Center as Angle is back in control.

Angle goes right back after Van Dam, picking him up to his feet and running him into the ropes before attempting a clothesline but RVD ducks, Angle attempts a second one but Van Dam ducks again and connects with a vicious spinning heel kick to a big pop from the crowd. Cover by RVD, 1-2-kick out by Angle!

RVD then goes to the top rope, is he gonna attempt a frog splash here? The crowd are on their feet but Angle is back to his feet. Van Dam though hitís a dropkick from the top rope!! Angle though rolls out of the ring with the force of that kick as RVD does his signature crowd pose of the thumbs to the shoulders mouthing ĎR-V-Dí with the fans fully behind Mr.Friday Nights!!

We go to a commercial as the match continues

We return with Angle now being in control and having a headlock in on Van Dam. We are shown replays of what happened during the break which showed RVD going outside the ring to try and get Angle back in but Angle took Van Dam down and threw him into the steel steps, allowing him time to regroup inside the ring.

Angle continues to apply pressure in the headlock but Van Dam begins to find his feet as he hits some hard elbows to the gut of Angle with the former champion losing grip of the hold and Van Dam hitting Angle with some hard right hands before going at angle big time with some huge kicks to the ribs. Van Dam then whips Angle into the corner and hitís a running knee right to the temple of Angle!! Angle drops to the mat and Van Dam goes up high and attempts and hitís a split legged moonsault!! This one could be over!! 1-2-3-NO!! Angle kicks out at the last split second as Van Dam looks on in disbelief.

Van Dam waits for Angle to rise once more as he goes for another one of his hard kicks to the ribs but Angle catches the leg of Van Dam and heís got the Ankle lock locked in now!! Will Van Dam tap? Van Dam is in a lot of pain as Angle roars loudly, knowing heís got his opponent right where he wants him.

Van Dam is squirming, trying desperately to get to the ropes but Angle is applying pressure hard on RVDís left ankle. Van Damís hand goes to tap but he refuses to give up and gets ever closer to the ropes, he reaches out one more time and he reaches the ropes!! The crowd cheers like crazy as Angle cannot believe he didnít finish it off.

Angle then pulls down the straps on his attire and goes to pick RVD up, in position for the Angle slam, Angle hits it!! No!! Van Dam lands on his feet and hitís the VANDAMINATOR!! RVD goes up to the top rope, heís gonna hit the 5 star frog splash!!

But wait, WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?! Melina comes down to the ring. What does she want?! RVD is distracted and Melina gets on the apron to confront RVD. The referee tries to deal with her but with RVDís back turned, Nitro and Mercury enter the ring through the crowd !! They hit Van Dam with the snapshot!! Angle is back to his feet now and goes for the cover!! 1-2-3, Angle advances to the semi-finals!!

Winner: Kurt Angle

Michael Cole: DAMN IT!! What the hell was that for?! Rob Van Dam was heading to the semi finals!! Rob Van Dam was heading to face The Big Show and those punks MNM had to come out here and cost him the match!!

Tazz: Well Cole, I think RVD ainít gonna be putting this trio down anymore. MNM have made yet another big impact here tonight thatís for sure.

Michael Cole: Kurt Angle has escaped here tonight but by god did he have a huge slice of luck, with MNM sticking their noses in.

Tazz: Hey, it doesnít matter how the job gets done, Angle got it done here tonight.

We head to a video package, the same one as last week for Judgement Day before returning backstage to find MNM walking down the halls when Josh Matthews enters to try and get a word from the trio.

Matthews: Melina, Nitro, Mercury, could I just get a few comments on what transpired out there in the RVD-Kurt Angle match?

Melina: Josh, last week RVD told us we didnít deserve anything here on Smackdown. He told us that weíd only been here five minutes and that we donít deserve to be handed things.

Melina: Well Rob you just got your ass handed to you haha. You wanna stick your nose in our business? Try us and the same thing will happen then as what happened tonight. Címon boys, weíve got a party to get to.

The trio leave the arena to boos as we return to Michael Cole and Tazz.

Michael Cole: Wow, Melina sure thinks sheís somethingí huh Tazz?

Tazz: Well Cole, I think the message is loud and clear, the way I see it these guys wanna make an impact and theyíre doiní it in a big way.

Michael Cole: Well I canít wait for when Rob Van Dam gets his hands on Mercury and Nitro thatís for sure.

Ď Hey Youí hits as Paul London makes his way out to the ring with his partner for the evening, Brian Kendrick.

Michael Cole: Here comes a man though who is certainly on a roll at this moment in time! Paul London became Cruiserweight champion a couple of weeks ago and last week he retained the title successfully against Chavo Guerrero in a great match up.

Tazz: Youíre dead on Cole. London has looked mighty impressive of late and tonight he teams with another great young talent, Brian Kendrick, be interesting to see how these two guys work together when ultimately Kendrick has gotta want that Cruiserweight title!

Michael Cole:
Come back and find out only on Friday Night Smackdown!!

We go to a commercial

We return with London and Kendrick awaiting their opponents for the evening as ĎChavo Ardienteí hits and Chavo Guerrero makes his way out to the ring with his partner for the evening, Kid Kash making his Smackdown debut.

Tazz: Wow, I did not expect Kid Kash to be Chavoís partner here tonight Cole. These two joininí forces is gonna end in big success, ainít no doubt about it. Kash is a new recruit here to Smackdown and I am lookiní forward to seeiní this.

Michael Cole: This should be a good one partner! Chavo, a former Cruiserweight champion, as is Kid Kash, two of the more experienced members of the roster up against two of the youngest, lets get this party started!!

Match two- Tag team match

Paul London and Brian Kendrick vs Chavo Guerrero and Kid Kash

Kendrick and Kash start the match off with a lot of fast paced action. Kendrick got several early roll ups and near falls on Kash who eventually got the upper hand taking down his opponent with a Springboard Sommersault dropkick, knocking Kendrick down before going for a pinfall but Kendrick kicked out at two.

Kash then went on the offensive, smashing Kendrick over the head several times before hitting a nasty elbow to the stomach of the champion. Kash then pulled his opponent over to the corner and tagged in Chavo who went straight on the offensive, hitting a nasty looking german suplex with Kendrick landing quite badly on his head. Chavo went for the pinfall but London came in to break it up! This angered Kash who came in while the referee tried to get London back in his corner, allowing Kash and Chavo to double team Kendrick, stomping away at the ribs of the youngster.

Chavo then lifted Kendrick up and whipped Kendrick into the ropes before hitting a painful looking back body drop as Kendrick seems to be really struggling in the match up. Chavo again went for a pinfall but Kendrick hung in to kick out at two. The crowd urged Kendrick on as Chavo locked a sleeper hold in, but the guts of Kendrick shone through as he brought himself back to his feet and managed to break the hold before hitting a drop kick on Chavo to give him a breather. Both men try and make their way to the corner as London is itching to get into the ring. Kendrick makes the tag!! But so does Chavo!! London and Kash go at it as London hitís a flying forearm to Kash who goes down but returns to his feet as London arm drags Kash across the ring before hitting a hard drop kick to the jaw of Kash. Chavo then tried to get back in the ring but Kendrick got back in and took the former champ over the top rope to the outside!! London and Kendrick then hit a nasty looking double DDT as London goes up to the top rope and hitís the 450 splash!! This one is over!! 1-2-3, London and Kendrick get the win as the crowd pops big time!!

Winners: Paul London and Brian Kendrick

Michael Cole: Now that was impressive Tazz!

Tazz: Big credit to London here tonight. Man, he took the match straight to Chavo and Kash and that is a big win for these two young dudes, high class match up right there, you will only find that on Smackdown!!

Michael Cole: And still to come folks, John Cena will introduce to us the new WWE title belt!! And JBL meets Booker T for a place in the semi-finals of the #1 contenders tournament!!

We return to the locker room of JBL who is standing up looking down on his cabinet members, Orlando Jordan and The Basham Brothers.

JBL: Last week. Last week was unacceptable gentleman.

The Bashams nod their head as Jordan looks down at his feet.

JBL: Last week was meant to be the first step towards me becoming WWE champion once again and what happens?!

JBL: You blow it, thatís what happens. You, you and you( JBL points at all three men one after the other) blew it.

JBL: As stupid as you three were last week, we move on. We move on to tonight, when it REALLY does matter.

JBL: Yísee Orlando was never gonna win the tournament, that was guarandamnteed. (Orlando looks pissed off at this comment) So tonight, you three make sure that I walk out of this rotten city with a place in the semi finals assured.

JBL: Cos if I donít, you can kiss goodbye following me, you can kiss goodbye making a name through me and YOU WILL KISS GOODBYE YOUR FUTURES!!

JBL: Do you understand me?

The Bashams nod in approval as Jordan continues looking down.

Jordan: John, I hear you loud and clear.

Jordan pats JBL on the chest before leaving the room, holding his U.S.Title.

JBL: What the hell is that kidís problem?

We return ringside to Michael Cole and Tazz as ĎMy Time Is Nowí hits to a thunderous ovation as John Cena makes his way out to the ring with his WWE title and a briefacse, clearly holding the new WWE title belt.

Michael Cole: The time is indeed now Tazz! John Cena, the WWE champion is all set to give us a glimpse at his new championship belt!!

Tazz: I canít wait for this Cole haha. When John Cena does something, you know itís gonna be big!!

Michael Cole: It was certainly big last week when Cena stopped JBL and his cabinet from screwing Rey Mysterio out of the #1 Contenders tournament.

Tazz: For sure, without Cena, Mysterio woulda been outta the runniní right now.

Cena: Yo yo yo, ChicaGOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

The fans pop big for this as Cena milks it as usual.

Cena: I promised that tonight would see the dawning of a new era, the dawning of the John Cena era and this baby here(tapping the briefcase) marks that new era.

Small pop.

Cena: When I asked for a new championship design, people were quick to criticise, they were quick to say ĎJohn, what are ya doing? The WWE title is as prestigious as they come, and youíre going to turn it into something else, why would you do that John?í

Cena: Well hereís why.

Cena goes into his passionate mode.

Cena: Yísee, it ainít everyday you become WWE champion. It ainít every day that you get to travel the world as the pinnacle of a company, as the guy that everybody wants to beat.

Cena: And right now, I am that guy. It donít matter whether itís Spike Dudley or Big Show, everybody wants to be in my spot, holidní what I hold.

Cena: So I made a decision, I made a choice that the title reign of John Cena wasnít going to be forgotten, the title reign of John Cena was always goiní to be remembered.

Cena: So to hell with it, I decided I may never get in this position again. Guys like Roddy Piper, Mr.Perfect, they never got to be known as the WWE champion.

Cena: Sad ainít it?

Cena: But I am!! I am the WWE champion and thatís why we gonní do things my way duriní my reign!!

Good pop here for the champion.

Cena: I wanted to do summin crazy, to make the people go wow, this Cena is summiní different.

Cena: And I ainít one to let the fans down. So without any further a due, let me introduce to you, the new WWE championship belt!! The John Cena inspired WWE championship belt!!

The tension builds as Cena is set for his reveal with the fans on the edge of their seat when surprisingly ĎBooyakaí hits.

Michael Cole: Well this is certainly a surprise Tazz! We did not expect Rey Mysterio to be a part of all this unveiling.

Well, you gotta think about these things Cole. Some people arenít gonna be happy, JBL wasnít happy last week and I got a feeliní that Rey Mysterio ainít happy with Cena either for Ďtaintingí the WWE championship.

Michael Cole: It isnít tainting Tazz.

Tazz: Hey, I agree wití ya but some people feel that way man.

Cena: Rey Mysterio, the Ultimate Underdog, what can I do for you my man?

Mysterio: John, I just came out here to say thanks for helpní me out last week man.

The fans cheers slightly for this.

Mysterio: I mean, Orlando Jordan wouldíve beaten me, I donít think thereís any doubt about it. When itís 4-on-1 itís pretty tough to stay in the game, but thanks to Booker T and thanks to you, I got through it and I appreciate it John.

Cena: Rey, it was my pleasure. I have seen enough of JBL and his bitches runniní Smackdown for too long now and I ainít about to stand for it anymore.

Cena: So as I was saying, lets introduce ourselves a new tiÖ

Mysterio: Easy John, I ainít done yet homie. Yísee while I appreciate your help, you may have made a mistake last week.

The fans seem quite confused as to what Mysterio is getting at.

Mysterio: Iím now in the semi finals of this #1 contenders tournament and that means Iím one step closer to facing you for the WWE title and believe me John, that is something you donít want. Iíve been sittiní at home all week thinkingí to myself, ĎIs Cena taking me lightly?í

Cena laughs as he realises what Mysterio is getting at.

Cena: Rey, I know your game. I know you got what it takes man. Donít fret it.

Cena: I know that if it comes down to me aní you, it ainít gonna be easy. I would never underestimate you man and last week was simply a case of me having the chance at gettiní my hands on JBL and Iím not one to pass on that offer!!

The fans cheer for this and the thought of a potential Cena-Rey match for the title.

Mysterio: John, thatís all I needed to know man. And hey, I ainít gonna hold this off any longer, so go ahead and get down to business with this championship belt.

The fans pop again as Cena looks around the crowd holding the briefcase before opening it slowly and revealing the spinner belt which we all know and love/hate. The fans are amazed by it as Cena spins the middle bit round to a big pop.

Mysterio is smiling and clapping as Cena takes the mic again.

Cena: Ladies and gentleman, how about this huh??? How do yíall like the new WWE championship belt baby?!!!?

The fans roar in approval as Cena holds his title belt high in the sky.

Mysterio: Only one thing left to say then John.

Mysterio: Hereís hoping that John Cena defends that very title against Rey Mysterrrrrrrrrrrrrio.

The fans pop huge for this.

Cena: Rey, it would be my pleasure. Good luck man.

Cena and Rey face off almost with the title belt held high and both men smiling before a handshake as Rey leaves the ring with the music of John Cena playing.

Michael Cole: Wow. Tazz, John Cena has shocked the world here tonight with that new championship belt!!

Tazz: Aw man, that is one fine lookiní championship baby. Did you see that thing spin?!

Michael Cole: Oh yeah! And how about the confrontation? Mysterio and Cena!!

Tazz: Cole, that would be one hell of a match and if Rey Mysterio does indeed win the #1 contenders tournament I would not be disappointed at all.

Michael Cole: Well, when we return Tazz, we will see Carlito go one on one with Vito, stay tuned!!

We return with Vito already in the ring as ĎCoolí hits allowing Carlito to make his way down to the ring.

Michael Cole: Well, this man has had an unfortunate seven days Tazz. Carlito thought he had the Big Show beat, he thought he was on his way to the semi finals of the #1 contenders tournament but the referee reversed the decision and Carlito lost the match up.

Tazz: Cole, these things happen, but itís important for Carlito not to dwell on it, cos this dude has talent and I predict a huge future for Carlito.

Match three- Singles match

Carlito vs Vito

The match begins with Vito taking down Carlito with a huge running knee to the head which Carlito kicked out of at two. Vito made an early attempt at a powerbomb but Carlito countered out. This then allowed the Apple Spitter to gain momentum and go on the offensive.

Carlito hit a very hard DDT that legitimately looked like it hurt the big man. Carlito then proceeded to pummel Vito with some hard rights and lefts. The referee pleaded with Carlito to stop but the former United States champion wouldnít budge and the referee called for the bell.

Winner via Disqualification: Vito

Carlito then threw his opponent outside the ring and continued to hammer away with some hard shots to the skull. Carlito then rammed Vito into the ringpost before stomping away at his opponent. The assault then continued as Carlito hit Vito brutally over the head with the ring bell as officials came down to ringside to pull Carlito away. Carlito eventually gave in and left ringside to a chorus of boos from the crowd with this vicious streak coming out of him.

Michael Cole: Well I canít believe what weíve just witnessed. Shocking actions from Carlito here tonight. Iíve never seen Carlito act this way before Tazz, what has gotten into him?

Tazz: Frustration. I think thatís the only answer Cole. When you lose a big match up like last week, it gets to you and I think Vito has felt the full force of Carlitoís frustration here tonight.

Michael Cole: Sickening display here tonight from the former United States champion folks. Sickening.

Tazz: You call it sickening, I call it impressive. If Carlito ups his game like this from now on inside the ring, heís onto a winner man.

Michael Cole: We are back on Friday Night Smackdown and folks still to come in just a matter of minutes, we have JBL going one on one with Booker T for a spot in the semi finals of the #1 contenders tournament. An old rivalry renewed here tonight!

Tazz: I am hyped for this one Cole. Two of the best in the business, should be a main event to remember thatís for sure. Booker came up short in taking the title from JBL when he was champ and you gotta be sure Booker is out for retribution here tonight.

Michael Cole: What do ya think Booker T has to do Tazz to fend off JBL and the cabinet here tonight? What kinda game plan will the former WCW champion bring with him?

Tazz: Well, you gotta believe that Booker T will look to finish this as early as possible. The longer this match goes on, the more it favours JBL. If Booker tires, then the Cabinet are gonna pick their moment and strike.

Michael Cole:
Well Tazz earlier tonight we saw Rob Van Dam cost his opportunity at reaching the semi finals, take a look if you missed it folks.

We are shown a replay of MNM costing Van Dam his match with Angle.

Michael Cole: Lets head backstage now to our colleague Josh Matthews who is standing by with the man himself RVD.

Matthews: Rob, what is your reaction to MNM interfering in your match up earlier tonight against Kurt Angle?

RVD: Josh, I was so close to beating Kurt Angle tonight and hey, I can accept when the better man wins, but tonight Kurt wasnít the better man. Kurt didnít beat me. MNM cost me.

RVD: And let me tell you, I had no problem with those guys last week when I told them to earn respect. Iíve seen it all before, young guys cominí in to the business and thinking theyíre it but they soon figure out it ainít that simple.

RVD: Next week I promise you and I promise all these fans that MNM will find out that life here on Smackdown, just ainít that simple.

RVD leaves as we return ringside. ĎCan You Dig It?í hits to a loud ovation as Booker T makes his way to the ring for the big main event match.

Michael Cole: Well some strong words from RVD there Tazz but moving along, we are all set for our main event and here comes a man who has yet to taste a World title during his time in the WWE. Could this be Booker Tís time to shine?

Tazz: It may very well be. Booker has all the attributes, all the talent to go on and face John Cena for the WWE title, though heís certainly got his hands full tonight.

ĎLonghorní hits to great heat as JBL arrives in his limo, with the Basham Brothers also appearing, however, Orlando Jordan is not the rest of the group.

Michael Cole: Here he comes, the self proclaimed ĎWrestling Godí and the man who John Cena defeated to become WWE champion at Wrestlemania!

Tazz: That loss still hurts this man Cole, I know that for a fact, that JBL is still beatiní himself up about that night, waitiní for his opportunity to win back his prized posession.

Michael Cole: Accompanied by the Bashams but no Orlando Jordan accompanying JBL here, we saw earlier a heated discussion between the two and has Orlando really turned his back on his mentor?

Tazz: I ainít buyiní it Cole. Orlando would be stupid to leave JBLís side.

Michael Cole: Time will tell thatís for sure partner.

Match four- Singles match- #1 contenders tournament

JBL vs Booker T

The match starts off with Booker T going right at JBL who backs into the ropes to get the referee to start a count as Booker eases off, but this allows Bradshaw to pummel his opponent with some ruthless right hands, but Booker fights back with some right hands of his own. The two men are fighting a real hard hitting affair here as Booker gets the upper hand and forces JBL into the corner where Booker stomps at JBLís gut before whipping him across the ring to the other corner where Booker goes running at Layfield but JBL connects with a big boot to the face of Booker!!

JBL goes for the cover but Booker kicks out at two as JBL goes to work on Booker, two elbows to the ribs of the fallen former WCW champ as Booker writhes in pain with JBL looking in a no nonsense mood. JBL then threw Booker outside the ring before following Booker to the outside. JBL then went to whip Booker in to the ring post but Booker countered and whipped JBL into the post, knocking the former champ down as Booker picks up some momentum. As the referee went to check on JBL though, the Bashams took advantage and double teamed Booker, hitting a vicious double DDT onto the mat outside the ring as the referee catches it out of the corner of his eye. The referee then banishes Doug and Danny Basham to the back!! The fans cheer massively as it is now a definite one on one match up.

As JBL gets to his feet, he realises that the Bashams have been sent to to the back and questions the referee relentlessly but the referee is having none of it as both men are now back in the ring. Booker hitís a hard kick to the face of JBL, knocking the champion down. Booker goes for the cover but itís a kick out at two.

Booker then surprisingly goes to the top rope and waits for JBL to regroup, Booker attempts a missile drop kick off the top!! Connects!! Booker is heading to the Semi Finals! Cover, 1-2- 3, NO!! JBL kicks out at the last second as the fans boo, believing that Booker had it won.

Booker looks horrified as he gets to his feet and brings JBL back up with him before again looking to whip JBL into the corner but JBL reverses and whips Booker T into the referee!! The referee is down and so is Booker T. JBL is confused with what to do next as he signals for the back, hoping for the Bashams to return back to the ring but thereís no sign of them. Booker T gets back to his feet and stares down with JBL. JBL is pleading with Booker not to do anything while the referee is down.

JBL then hits Booker with a low blow to the disgust of the fans and Michael Cole who is going crazy. Booker is down to his knees when suddenly Orlando Jordan runs down to the ring!! Jordan gets a mixed reaction as the fans wonder whether heís for or against JBL.

Jordan and JBL stare off as the referee gingerly makes his way to his feet as does Booker T. JBL mumbles to do the right thing as the fans start a small ĎOr-Lan-Doí chant, urging the U.S. champ to turn on his mentor. Jordan nails JBL with a huge uppercut!! Sending the former champion to the mat!! The crowd goes crazy!! But suddenly the referee rings the bell.

Tony Chimel: The winner of this match as a result of a disqualification- John Bradshaw Layfieldddddddd.
Booker T looks distraught as Jordan looks on, seemingly puzzled while JBL makes his way to his feet, holding his jaw. JBL then hitís a nasty clothesline from hell from behind to an oblivious Booker T before setting his sights on Orlando Jordan.

Michael Cole: Oh man, this is gonna be big!!

Tazz: Orlando is gonna pay Cole!!

JBL gets in OJís face with a look of anger and hatred which soon turns into a wry smile as JBL and Jordan embrace each other in the ring!! The crowd is going crazy at what seems to be a master plan from the Cabinet here tonight.

Michael Cole: No way, no way did this just happen!! I thought for sure that Orlando Jordan had finally stood up to JBL!! I thought Orlando Jordan had finally had enough but damn it to hell!! They were both in on it all along and JBL has screwed Booker T big time here tonight.

Tazz: Cole, this dude is a genius. JBL will always and I mean always have a plan and tonight that plan was executed to perfection. They had us all fooled, Iím shocked.

Michael Cole: Shocked is one word, but I got plenty more for JBL and the rest of the cabinet!! And I will put money on Booker T getting payback next week!!

The show ends with JBL and Orlando Jordan raising their hands up together on the ramp with huge smiles as Booker T looks on, head down in the ring with rage at what has transpired here tonight.

Re: WWE 2005: Raising the Bar

Sorry this took me so long. Have had a busy week.

Iím glad you went into more detail with the opening promo. Certainly gave a greater sense of the situation. I liked the way you wrote Jericho, although off the top of my head I canít really remember what his character was like back in those days. I always like Jericho referencing the night he beat Austin and Rock, so nice on including that. Edge out, but without the briefcase? Iíd have thought he would have brought down with him, to once again threaten to use it, especially after last weekís main event. Bischoff out, and while it all makes sense for him to make the match, I wonder about two heels being in the main event. Although maybe by the way you wrote the crowd reaction Jericho is in line for a face turn? Anyway, an improvement on last week, with Jericho shinning through.

Yeah, I gave my opinion on the tag champs last week, so I guess this follows on from that. Conway and Murdoch teaming is tad odd. Canít see them being any challenge tbh. Champs go over, as expected, so Iím really wondering what youíll do with them at Backlash. Looking at the roster I dunno who they could go against. I think I said Christian and Tomko last week, but apart from them there isnít much. Anyone but The Hearthrobs plz.

Hassan and Benjamin was definitely the best feud you created last week, so nice to see it continue. Hassan was well written, although maybe a tad OTT with the whole death threat bit. Shelton is just... hard to write really. Anyway, segment was fine, leading to a brawl, with Shelton looking good out of it. Title match announcement should happen soon.

Slipped back into old habits with the Triple H interview. Again, very short. Would like to have heard more.

Christian/Matt would have been a very solid match back in the day. One thing Iíve just realise, but putting match times at the end would be a nice touch. Doesnít necessarily have to be represented by the volume of words you put into it, but a rough idea of how long a match went always helps imo. The video idea was pretty cool, handing Christian the win and continuing the Matt/Kane feud. Liked that, good stuff. And the little follow up with Bischoff.

Lol @ Michaels/Viscera. ĎHBKí deserves better, even if it was just a squash match. Again, nice feud progression with the Orton attack. Iíd have really liked to have seen Orton grab a mic after this though, standing over Michaels and saying that Ďlegend of HBK is killedí line for us all to hear. Having an intense promo after the attack would have suited better than the interview with Grisham.

Main event time, and we havenít heard from Batista all night. An interview with him earlier in the evening, discussing the events of last week and his opinions on being the ref for tonight is something that really should have happened. All hell breaks loose, and Iím glad that Batista got back some of the momentum he lost last week.

Overall, and improvement over last weekís Raw. The opening promo was much better, and you continued to develop feuds. Again though, a few promos were short and felt a bit forced. Try and have a more natural flow to the way the characters speak. But definite signs of improvement, which is always a good thing.

Re: WWE 2005: Raising the Bar

WWE Monday Night Raw preview- 4/18/05-Dunkin’ Donuts Center- Providence, Rhode Island

Monday Night Raw comes to you from Providence this evening as we are now rapidly approaching the Raw exclusive Pay Per View Backlash. With three matches now confirmed, there is sure to be more build up in the post Wrestlemania fallout.

General manager Eric Bischoff has confirmed that tonight’s main event will be a huge tag team contest. The World Heavyweight champion Batista will team with one of his challengers at Backlash, Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels to take on Triple H, Edge and Randy Orton. Will Batista and Jericho be able to co exist?

Last week we saw a disturbing video of Lita seemingly being held captive by Kane. Matt Hardy has demanded that Eric Bischoff give him Kane one on one here tonight. Will Hardy get his wish? And what will the ramifications be for Kane?

Also, it was confirmed this week that Shelton Benjamin will defend his Intercontinental title at Backlash against Muhammad Hassan. Hassan has got the upper hand on Benjamin for the past two weeks, will the champion be able to get one over on the challenger this week?

And finally, last week we saw William Regal and Tajiri claim there was no competition for them on Raw and for their Tag team titles, will we see anybody step up this week and take on the champions or will their point be proved further?

Find out all this and more live on Monday Night Raw!!

Confirmed matches

Batista, Chris Jericho & Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H, Edge & Randy Orton

Interesting looking preview, I'll drop some feedback on RAW when it goes up, as I recall you commenting on one of my shows a few weeks ago.

Re: WWE 2005: Raising the Bar

WWE Monday Night Raw- 4/18/05- Dunkin’ Donuts Center- Providence, Rhode Island

Opening video and pyro plays as we head straight to J.R and Coach.

Jim Ross: Ladies and gentleman, we are liveeeeee on Monday Night Raw, I’m Jim Ross, alongside Jonathan Coachman and folks we have a heck of a main event in store tonight!!

The Coach: Aw J.R. tonight is gonna be something special. The World champ Batista teams with Shawn Michaels AND one of the men he faces at Backlash Chris Jericho to take on the team of Triple H, Randy Orton and Edge!!

Jim Ross: The history that these men have Coach, I mean Triple H and Randy Orton on the same team!! Batista and Jericho must team together before Backlash!! How are these teams going to co-exist here tonight?!

The Coach: Batista shouldn’t even be here J.R. Eric Bischoff should’ve suspended him after he put his hands on Jericho and Edge last week.

Jim Ross: Oh boo hoo Coach, Batista did what he had to do.

Time to rock and roll’ hits as Trish Stratus makes her way down to the ring for the opening match up here tonight.

Jim Ross: Well from the World Heavyweight Champion to the Women‘s champion!! A couple of weeks ago, Trish retained her title Coach in impressive fashion against Christy Hemme. Tonight, she faces Victoria in what is sure to be another huge test.

The Coach: Ain’t no doubt about it J.R. Trish is gonna have her hands full here tonight, Victoria, as the song says, she ain’t a lady to mess with.

Don’t mess with’ hits as Victoria makes her way down to the ring to the odd boo in the crowd as this match gets under way.

Match One- Non title Singles match

Trish Stratus vs. Victoria

The match begins with Victoria dominating early on. The former champion herself hurled Trish into the corner and stomped away at the gut of Trish. Victoria then slapped Stratus across the face as the crowd oooohed big time. Trish only got fired up by this though and threw herself at Victoria resulting in a cat fight type scene with Trish on top of Victoria throttling her which got a decent cheer.

Trish then hit Victoria with a couple of vicious right hands, as she really gained momentum. Stratus lifted her opponent up into a suplex position, however, Victoria countered and hit a reverse DDT as Trish didn’t know what was happening.

Victoria went for a cover but Trish kicked out at two. Victoria couldn’t believe it and went to work on Trish’s right knee, stomping away at her, clearly looking to stop Trish from hitting the Stratusfaction. Trish was looking in considerable pain as Victoria continued to relentlessly twist and bend her way around Trish’s knee. The crowd were trying to pump Trish up and it seemed to work as the champion somehow found the strength to kick Victoria off of her and outside the ring as Trish made her way to her feet.

Victoria was now down on the outside as Trish made her way out too, only to be met with an elbow to the ribs, winding the champion. Victoria then threw Trish into the ringpost, to the horror of the crowd, the look in Victoria’s eyes was psychopathic like as she pummelled away at Trish as the referee’s count reached 7!

Victoria was in no rush to go anywhere though as Trish looked to fight back with some hard shots of her own, neither woman interested in the outcome of the match now, just looking to hurt each other.

The referee counted to 10 and rang for the bell, however, the brawl between the two continued on the outside.

Result: Double countout (6:30)

Jim Ross: These two women are beating the holy hell out of each other Coach!!

The Coach: Ha ha, I love it baby boy!! This is what I wanna see on my Monday Nights. Two of the hottest women in the world goin’ at it like a couple of caged animals, beautiful J.R.

Jim Ross: As beautiful as they are, this one has gotten ugly real fast. Somebody needs to separate these two!!

A few trainers and referees come down to break the pair up with Trish and Victoria screaming at one another, Trish telling Victoria that ‘this isn’t over’.

We go to the first commercial break of the show

Jim Ross: We are back live folks and what a crazy way to kick off Monday Night Raw!!

The Coach: Well, Trish and Victoira can go J.R, we both know that but the intensity, the passion we’ve just seen from these two women was unbelievable and you gotta believe that these two are gonna go at it again somewhere down the line.

Jim Ross:
No doubt about it Coach, Trish has got some real competition there in Victoria if she wants to hold onto that Women’s championship. Well, moving on, lets head backstage where Todd Grisham is standing by.

We go backstage where Todd Grisham is awaiting near the big screen ready to introduce us to his guest.

Grisham: Thanks J.R, I am joined at this time by the Legend Killer himself, Randy Orton.

Boos fill the arena as Orton appears into shot.

Grisham: Randy, tonight you team with Edge and Triple H to take on Batista, Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels. How are you feeling heading into the match considering the history you have with pretty much all these men?

Orton: Todd, like you said, the word there is history. All these guys in the ring tonight, I’ve had my ups and downs with but it’s all in the past. I don’t give a damn about Shawn Michaels, I don’t give a damn about Triple H, I don’t give a damn about anybody.

More heat for the Legend Killer.

Orton: All I care about is ME and MY path to once again becoming World Champion. It all began at Wrestlemania when I took The Undertaker out of action.

The crowd is really hating on Orton here tonight.

Orton: FACT. He has not been seen since that moment and he won’t be seen again. My path began then and it continues at Backlash when I kill the legend of Shawn Michaels.

Orton: See, Shawn is running scared from me Todd. Last week, I hit him with an RKO and tonight, tonight if he’s got the guts to come up against me in our tag team match, I promise you, he is going to suffer the exact same fate.

Orton walks off as we head back to ringside with J.R. and Coach.

The Coach: Randy Orton is gold J.R. Absolute gold and I can’t wait to see him RKO Shawn Michaels again later on tonight!!

Jim Ross: Orton is anything but gold Coach. The kid has great talent but he damn sure doesn’t back it up with his attitude. Shawn Michaels could teach Orton a thing or two at Backlash, hell, maybe even here tonight in Providence.

Coach scowls as J.R. shifts focus.

Jim Ross: Moving on ladies and gentleman, last week we saw a quite horrific video of Lita being held captive almost by that demonic big red machine Kane. The video aired during Matt Hardy’s match with Christian last week, lets take a look folks.

The video is replayed of Lita and also Hardy’s reaction as the crowd in Providence boo loudly.

The Coach: J.R you have gotta wonder just what Matt Hardy is gonna do when he gets his hands on Kane. The key word though being when.

Jim Ross: Well, Matt Hardy wanted Kane here tonight, Eric Bischoff said that it’d happen at Backlash, we will just have to wait and see but by god, it’s gonna be a fight when Hardy does find Kane.

Ain’t no stopping me now’ hits to a good pop as the Intercontinental champion Shelton Benjamin makes his way down to the ring for his match up.

Jim Ross: Well, Coach, our Intercontinental champion has certainly been having a tough couple of weeks with Muhammad Hassan proving to be a thorn in his side.

The Coach: Well, Backlash can’t come soon enough J.R. I am dying to see these two lock horns!! Benjamin, one of the finest pure athletes in the company against Hassan, one of the best and brightest new talents to hit Monday Night Raw. I cannot wait!!

Just close your eyes’ hits to some good heat as Captain Charisma makes his way out to the ring with Tomko, ready to face Shelton Benjamin. Coach is standing and clapping during his entrance.

Jim Ross: Coach, will you sit down? For the love of god.

The Coach: Sit down? J.R, this man is greatness and I am proud to call myself a peep.

Jim Ross: I could call you summin else but we’re live here, and when we return it’ll be Shelton Benjamin one on one with Christian!!

We return with both men squaring each other up ready for this battle.

Match two- Non title singles match

Shelton Benjamin vs. Christian

Both men lock up early on as Christian takes advantage, twisting the arm of Benjamin before Benjamin counters and twists Christian’s arm with the two men getting a feel for each other. Benjamin then whips Christian into the ropes before going for a clothesline but Christian ducks and runs the ropes but Benjamin connects second time around before going for an early pinfall, 1-2-kick out by Captain Charisma.

Benjamin then hurled Christian into the corner before going in with some hard shots on his opponent, however, Christian ducks and misses one, turning the tables on Benjamin before hitting some chops across the chest of Benjamin to the classic ‘ WOOOS’ from the crowd as Christian pats his chest to his ‘peeps’.

Captain Charisma then stood on the second rope and went in with some hard right hands to the head of Benjamin, the crowd counting them out. As Christian got to seven though, Benjamin grabbed a hold of the fist of Christian and used all his might to prevent another shot before pushing Christian down to the mat and climbing to the top rope.

Benjamin got to the top as the crowd waited in anticipation as Benjamin awaited Christian rising to his feet. As Christian stood up, Benjamin connects with a huge flying clothesline from the top rope! Cover! 1-2-3-NO!! Christian kicks out at the last second as J.R screams ‘IT‘S OVER!!.’

Benjamin can’t believe it and picks Christian up again, kicking his opponent in the gut before getting him in position for a suplex. As Benjamin attempts to lift Christian though, he counters with an elbow to the head and hit’s a big DDT to the Intercontinental champion! Christian goes for the cover, 1-2-kick out by Benjamin!! Christian now can’t believe it as he goes for a second consecutive cover, but again Benjamin kicks out at two!!

Christian, now getting frustrated goes to the outside to pick up a steel chair, the referee tries to take the chair off of Christian, while inside the ring, Tomko is going after Benjamin!! Tomko is stalking Benjamin, as the champion arises Tomko goes for a big boot but Benjamin catches the boot and and spins Tomko around straight into position for a T-Bone suplex, Benjamin connects!!

But BAM!! As Benjamin gets up, he is hit with a vicious clothesline from Muhammad Hassan who had made his way down the ramp!! Hassan then proceeded to lock in the camel clutch as Christian distracted the ref on the outside. The fans are going crazy as Hassan, accompanied by Daivari, exit’s the ring, while Christian re enters and lifts Benjamin up and hit’s a vicious Unprettier. Goes for the cover, 1-2-3, this one is over!!

Winner: Christian (8:10)

Jim Ross: Hassan has cost the Intercontinental Champion here tonight!! For the love of god Coach, how does Hassan keep getting away with this?! It was damn near 4-on-1 here tonight for Shelton Benjamin.

The Coach: J.R. Hassan is playing mind games with Shelton Benjamin. Hassan is getting into the head of the champion and I’m sorry but at Backlash, I Just don’t see Shelton Benjamin having enough to deal with Muhammad Hassan.

The Coach: And J.R!! Aren’t you forgetting about the man standing tall in that ring here tonight? Another huge win for my boy Captain Charisma.

Jim Ross: It is another big win Coach but the bigger issue here is that Muhammad Hassan has gotten under the skin of Shelton Benjamin yet again here tonight!!

We go to a video package for Backlash, the same one as last week before heading backstage to see Muhammad Hassan and Daivari walking to the parking lot.

As they walk casually to their limo though, out of nowhere almost, Shelton Benjamin takes both men down!! Benjamin flies through the air and as he takes them down, begins to pummel Hassan and Daivari with hard shots to the head, Benjamin then stomped away at Hassan, shouting at Hassan, ‘Two can play your game Hassan!!.’ Benjamin then walks away as Hassan and Daivari lie in pain from the attack with the Intercontinental champion saying, ‘I’ll see you at Backlash.

Jim Ross: Finally Hassan getting what he deserves here tonight!! Too many times Coach has that man gotten away with things and thank god that Shelton Benjamin got himself some payback right there!!

The Coach: You’re thanking god that Muhammad Hassan got attacked from behind? You’re even more racist than I thought J.R.

Jim Ross: Coach, you know as well as I do that Muhammad Hassan got what was coming to him, here tonight.

The Coach: No J.R., you know as well I do that Muhammad Hassan has the Intercontinental championship coming to him and at Backlash!!

Jim Ross: We’ll just see about that Coach.

Live for the moment’ hits as Matt Hardy makes his way out to the ring to a good pop, looking very intense and angry.

Jim Ross: Aw man, Coach, I think it’s appropriate to say that business is about to pick up.

The Coach: Oh baby, Matt Hardy does not look a happy man here tonight, this is gonna be interesting.

Hardy grabs a mic as a loud chant of ‘Hardy, Hardy’ begins in the crowd.

The crowd is going wild as Hardy is itching for Kane to come out.

Hardy: I ain’t waitin’ anymore Kane, this has gone on for too long now. Come out here, or I’M COMIN’ BACK THERE!!

The crowd waits anxiously for Kane to hopefully come out but they are disappointed as ‘I’m Back’ hits and we see Eric Bischoff make his way out to the ramp.

Hardy: Eric, I told you last week, I can’t wait til Backlash, I want Kane and I want him here TONIGHT!!.

The crowd are fully behind Hardy and wanna see the match here and now. A ‘Hardy, Hardy’ chant is loud for all to hear in the arena.

Matt, I’m sorry but I told you last week and I’m telling you again here tonight, that you will face Kane at Backlash.

The crowd boo loudly for this announcement.

Bischoff: Look, Kane isn’t here tonight and you really think that I’m gonna be able to find him? You must be crazy Matt, but I have been well informed by the Board of Directors that Kane will be at Backlash or else he will be fired.

The crowd cheer for this but Hardy looks devastated.

Hardy: Well I guess if Kane ain’t here tonight, and if Kane ain’t showing again next week, then I’m gonna have to hunt me down a monster and mark my words Eric, I will find Kane next week and I will end Kane at Backlash.

The crowd pop again before the titantron goes fuzzy and we see another video, it’s Lita again as Hardy looks on desperately. She’s in the same dark room in a corner, crying. Lita then begged for Matt to come and find her next week and said that she needs the torture to stop.

Shockingly, we then see Kane appear, with that twisted, evil grin. Kane told Hardy that things have changed over the last months and that Lita’s miscarriage was the final straw for him. Kane said that it is all he wanted, a child who he could mould into his image and that when Lita couldn’t give him what he wanted, she was of no worth anymore.

Kane told Hardy that he knows that Matt is the only one who cares about Lita, but said that he despises the fact Lita still loves him and wants him gone for good. Kane then said he was giving Matt the chance to take her away from him once and for all before he does something he regrets. Kane told Matt that at Backlash, if Matt wins, he can have Lita and the torture stops, marriage is over but if he wins, then he wants Matt Hardy gone once and for all before saying, ‘What‘s it gonna be Matt?’ and laughing maniacally at his crying wife. The video then ends.

The crowd are in astonishment as Hardy hangs his head over the top rope, looking on at the screen and Eric Bischoff on the ramp looking concerned.

If Kane wants to play games, I’ll roll the dice. Eric, you tell that sick son of a bitch that when Backlash comes, I will get Lita back and I will hurt Kane so badly that he will never and I mean NEVER show his face around here again!!

Hardy slams his mic to the mat as his music hits and he leaves the ring, the crowd very much concerned about all that is going on in this situation.
Jim Ross: Backlash ladies and gentleman has now quite really become unmissable. Kane will face Matt Hardy with the consequences being HUGE.

The Coach: I can’t believe what we’ve just seen, Kane will divorce Lita and basically give her back to Matt Hardy if he loses at Backlash, but if Kane wins J.R. then Matt Hardy is gone for good. A monumental night Backlash is shaping up to be!

Jim Ross: No doubt about it, and still to come here tonight, we have a huge six man tag team match. Randy Orton, Edge and Triple H take on the team of Batista, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho!!

We return backstage where we see Chris Jericho getting ready for the tag match tonight as Batista walks in to some ooohs in the crowd.

Jericho: What do you want Dave?

Batista: Chris, I’m here just to warn you that tonight, you better be on the same page as me and Shawn or else last week? Ha, last week won’t be anything compared to tonight, and I will have no problem whatsoever in giving you the thumbs up, then the thumbs down (Batista does these actions to a decent response from the crowd).

Jericho: Last week, you had no right in putting your hands on me. You were a WWE official for the evening and if you hadn’t got involved, I would’ve beaten Edge with easeeeeee!

Batista: Is that so?

Jericho: You’re damn right it is. Now tonight, I have got no problem in teaming with you and the Has Been Kid. I can wait for you Dave, your time will come at Backlash, trust me on that one.

Batista laughs at this as Jericho continues.

Jericho: I promise that tonight I give it my all, but not for you, not for Michaels, for ME. Because I cannot WAIT to get my hands on Edge and believe me, I will show that Chris Jericho wannabe, that he is not on my level.

Batista: I wanna believe you Chris, I really do. Guess I’ll have to find out later huh? But just remember one thing.

Batista smiles and puts his thumbs down once more as he leaves the locker room as Jericho looks on.

Jim Ross: Well Coach, do you really believe that Jericho is on board tonight with his team mates?

The Coach: Of course. Y2J is the consummate professional J.R. and he will do his utmost to win that match tonight.

Jim Ross: I’ll believe it when I see it Coach, Jericho in my mind will want payback on Batista tonight.

The Coach: Why can’t you just take the man’s answer as the truth for once J.R?

Jim Ross: Because with Chris Jericho, nothing is further from the truth generally Coach!!

As the two continue to bicker, ‘Born Naughty’ hits as William Regal makes his way out to the ring with Tajiri.

Jim Ross: Well, moving on folks, here comes..

The Coach: Here come the tag team champions. Until you start believing J.R I don’t wanna hear from you.

Jim Ross: Coach will you shut up for gods sake?!

The Coach: You are meant to be impartial J.R and it ain’t happenin.

The Coach: Damn straight.

Rob Conway is waiting in the ring with his partner Trevor Murdoch, Conway is ready to go one on one with Regal.

Match three- Singles match

William Regal vs. Rob Conway

The match begins with Regal gaining the upper hand with some stiff shots to the head of Conway who is buckling under them. Regal then takes down Conway with an arm drag before locking in a sleeper hold on the former La Resistance’ member.

As Regal applied some more pressure, Conway started to fade a little bit but as he looked like he was struggling, he suddenly managed to find some energy from somewhere and get himself back to his feet before breaking the hold, only for Regal to hit a hard kick to the stomach of Conway.

Conway crumbled as Regal positioned him for a belly to belly suplex which connects beautifully! Cover from Regal. 1-2-kick out by Conway as the on looking Tajiri lets out a squeal.

Regal then hoisted Conway up once more but Conway countered and hit a reverse DDT on Regal, allowing him some time to catch his breath before going in for a cover, however Regal kicked out at 2!!

Conway then went on the offensive, stomping away at Regal’s shoulder before hitting some hard elbows to the same shoulder and also chest of one half of the tag team champions. With Trevor Murdoch willing his partner on, Conway lifted Regal up before going for a running clothesline, but Regal ducked under it and ran the ropes before hitting a big knee to the skull of Conway!! A vicious looking blow to the head and Conway looks completely out of it!!

Regal resists the pinfall though and goes for the Regal stretch which he locks in!! Will Conway tap? Murdoch then looks to get in the ring but Tajiri gets on the apron and sprays the redneck with GREEN MIST!!! The crowd go wild for Tajiri as Conway taps inside the ring!! This one is over!!

Winner: William Regal (4:50)

Jim Ross: Another big win here for one half of the tag team champions!!

The Coach: I gotta hand it to these guys at the minute J.R. Whether it be singles or tag team action, they are on a roll and maybe they were right and I was wrong, maybe there is nobody to take the straps from these guys.

Jim Ross: Whoa whoa whoa, hold it there. Maybe YOU were wrong?

The Coach: Don’t start again J.R. I’ve had enough of you already tonight.

William Regal and Tajiri are celebrating as Regal takes a mic.

Regal: Ladies and gentleman, victorious we are yet again.

The crowd gives a small cheer for Regal there.

Regal: I said it last week, I’ll say it again. It feels like there’s no competition for us here anymore. Now at Backlash we must defend our World Tag team championships and currently we have no opponents.

Regal: With that being said, at this moment in time I would like to issue an open challenge for Backlash.

The crowd cheer slightly louder for that announcement

Regal: Me and my partner, young Tajiri here will take on any team on Monday Night Raw for these tag team titles and maybe, just maybe, we’ll find ourselves a challenge.

Regal drops the mic as the champions leave the ring to a decent reception as the anticipation begins as to who will go after the titles at Backlash.

Jim Ross: Fighting champions right there folks and at Backlash we will see a tag team title match but the question remains, who is gonna face these guys and who is gonna beat them?

The Coach: Well, that is gonna be good at Backlash, no doubt. Maybe somebody can step up and take on our champions at last.

Jim Ross: And in just a matter of moments, we will see our huge main event!! Batista, Y2J and HBK up against Orton, Edge and Triple H!!

We return backstage to see Eric Bischoff in his office on the phone as Christian walks in with Tomko.

Bischoff: Yeah, that’s great news. Ok, well I’ll save that a slot in the card for sure. Ok, thanks Vince, I hope it’s what we wanna hear haha. Alright, bye, bye.

Bischoff hangs up the phone and turns his attention to Christian.

Bischoff: Well, look who it is, what can I do for you gentleman?

Christian: Eric, we, er, we got ourselves a small problem.

Tomko nods in the background as Bischoff looks on interested.

Christian: You see, I’m Captain Charisma, I am the highlight of this show and all my peeps are wondering Eric, much like I am. Where’s my match for Backlash, where’s my spot on the card?

Bischoff: Now, you couldn’t have picked a better time to drop by. I may well have a proposition for you and your ‘peeps’ Christian.

Christian: I’m listenin’.

Bischoff: See I was just on the phone with Vince McMahon and he gave me some big news, some MAJOR news and I am gonna let you break this news to the world at Backlash.

Christian: What are you getting at here Eric? I’ve not got all night.

Bischoff: You host your own little show sometimes don’t ya Christian? The Peep show? Well how about at Backlash we have ourselves a Peep show?

Christian nods intrigued more than anything.

Bischoff: With your guest being none other than the Nature Boy, RIC FLAIRRRRR!

The crowd in Providence pops big time for the mention of Flair.

Christian: I can live with that Eric. What’s Flair got to say that’s so important?

Bischoff: A ‘major’ announcement supposedly. Believe me, I think we’re all gonna enjoy hearing what he’s got to say haha.

The camera goes back to ringside with J.R and Coach once more.

Jim Ross:
Surely not Coach? Could that announcement really be what I think it is?

The Coach: I thought Flair would wrestle til the day he dies but I’m pretty sure J.R that we are gonna be waving goodbye to Ric Flair come Backlash!!

Jim Ross: I can’t even consider it right now, wow.

Burn in my light’ hits to a chorus of boos as Randy Orton makes his way out to the ring for the main event.

Jim Ross: We heard from this young man earlier tonight and he is certainly on a quest, on a mission it seems to be rid the WWE of not only The Undertaker, but now HBK, Shawn Michaels.

The Coach: Who can blame him J.R? Orton is the up and comer, Taker and Michaels are taking up Randy Orton’s spotlight and he has had enough.

Metalingus’ then hits as Edge makes his way out to a very hostile reaction.

The Coach: This man as well J.R!! He is trying to break the glass ceiling and that briefcase he holds, may well be just the ticket to do that!

Jim Ross: Well, there is no denying how big a factor that Money in the Bank briefcase is in Edge’s pursuit of the World title. For the past couple of weeks Edge has made it his business to get involved in the World title scene and it must be getting at the fellow challengers, knowing Edge holds all the cards.

The Coach: Oh for sure, for as long as Edge holds that, Batista or whoever the champion may be, will be looking over their shoulder.

Game’ then hits to another hostile reaction as Triple H completes one team’s line up.
Jim Ross:
Now this man has not had the best few weeks Coach. He lost the World title at Wrestlemania and since then he has been struck down on trying to gain any kind of revenge on Batista.

The Coach: But and this is a huge but J.R. Triple H is still in a World Heavyweight title match at Backlash and with the experience, the talent and the know how he possesses we may see Triple H become an 11 time World champ come Backlash!

Break down the walls’ hits to a mixed reaction, more boos than cheers as Chris Jericho makes his way down to the ring.

Jim Ross: This is the man I’m wary of here tonight Coach, I said it earlier and I’ll..

The Coach: You did say it earlier and I don’t wanna hear it again!! Chris Jericho is a man of honour and he would not turn on his team, end of story J.R.

Jim Ross: Guilty ‘til proven innocent in Jericho’s case here tonight Coach, that’s my opinion.

Sexy Boy’ hits and Shawn Michaels struts down to the ring to a huge pop, the loudest of the night no doubt.

Jim Ross: Well, last week Randy Orton laid this man out with an RKO and I can’t help but believe that Shawn Michaels will not take that lightly here tonight.

The Coach: He can take it any way he wants, don’t make a difference, Orton will lay him out again here tonigh haha.

Jim Ross: Impartial eh Coach?

Coach keeps quiet as ‘I walk alone’ hits to an even bigger pop than Shawn Michaels as the World champion, Batista makes his way to the ring.

Jim Ross: Well last week, our World champion displayed his dominance when he took out Edge, Jericho and Triple H when they tried to go toe to toe with the animal.

The Coach: This man should not be here tonight J.R. Hell I’d have stripped him of that title. He put his hands on superstars when he was an official, that isn’t allowed, full stop.

Jim Ross: Quit complaining Coach jeez.

Match four- Six man tag team match

Batista, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho vs. Triple H, Randy Orton and Edge

Michaels and Edge start the match as the crowd starts a loud ‘HBK’ chant to which gets a wry smile from Michaels as the two men lock up. Michaels then takes Edge into a headlock and runs the ropes with Edge who throws Michaels off of him into the ropes on the other side of the ring, but Michaels comes flying back and takes down Edge with a big shoulder block.

HBK then did his usual spring back up to his feet which was met with loud cheers from the crowd as HBK then took the now upstanding Edge down with a clothesline followed by another clothesline as Michaels builds momentum. Michaels then ran over to the corner and took out Randy Orton which was met with a huge cheer!!

Orton fell to the mat as Triple H tried to get in the ring but the referee wouldn’t allow it, however inside the ring, Edge was now up to his feet and turned Michaels around before a kick to the gut and a DDT to Michaels before going for a pinfall, 1-2- kick out by Michaels as Edge is now in control and tags in Triple H, as Randy Orton is back up on the apron.

HHH goes straight at Michaels with hard right hands, everybody knowing the history of these two men. Hunter then picked Michaels up and ran him into the ropes as Triple H ran the other side before coming into Michaels and hitting a huge running knee straight into Michaels who falls to the mat, another cover here, 1-2- kick out again by Michaels!!

Triple H then applied a sleeper hold to his opponent as Michaels is being worn down. The crowd egging HBK on to try and get the tag to either Jericho or Batista. Michaels began to pick himself up and got out of the hold before Triple H ran at Michaels but HBK hits back body drop!! Can Michaels get the tag now?

HBK is crawling to his partners, desperately trying to make a tag, as is Triple H now. Michaels gets there just a second before Triple H as he tags in Randy Orton with Michaels tagging in Jericho. Jericho runs right at Orton and takes himd own with a big clothesline before hitting Orton with a nice fisherman suplex into a pinfall attempt, 1-2- kick out by Orton!! The fans are fully behind Jericho now as he goes to work on the left knee of Orton, stomping away at it but out of nowhere, Edge runs into the ring and hits Jericho with a spear!! All hell is breaking loose now as Batista has seen enough and storms the ring to take out Edge with a spine buster!! Edge is almost broken in half, but Triple H smashes Batista over the head with a big right hand as these two bitter enemies go to blows.

Batista gets the upper hand and takes down Triple H with an almost standing start spear of his own to a huge pop from the crowd as Shawn Michaels comes back in the ring and hits Sweet chin music to Randy Orton!! Orton is the legal man and Jericho crawls over to make the cover, 1-2-3, THIS ONE IS OVER!!

Winners: Batista, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho (12:30)

Batista and Michaels celebrate as Jericho gets the pinfall with Jericho and Batista staring at one another and Batista nodding respectfully as Jericho lived up to his word here tonight.

Jim Ross: Chris Jericho has fulfilled his promise here tonight!! I am as stunned as anybody but on this night Batista and Chris Jericho have co existed, but for how much longer can that last as in just 13 days from now, they will be up against each other along with Triple H for the World championship!!

The Coach: I told you J.R. If Chris Jericho gives his word, you better believe it, but you had better believe me when I say that at Backlash it’s gonna be a whole different story between these two men!!

Jim Ross: Next week marks the final stop on the road to Backlash!! What chaos will go down in Pittsburgh?! Goodnight everybody!!

Re: WWE 2005: Raising the Bar

WWE news and notes

It has been confirmed on WWE.com that after what happened on Raw this past week, Trish Stratus will defend her Womenís championship at Backlash against Victoria. The two faced each other on Raw with a double count out and a brawl to follow, the Divas will now have the chance to settle the score on pay per view.

Also, announced by Raw GM Eric Bischoff is that this week on Raw, Randy Orton will go one on one with Chris Jericho, while the main event will be the World Heavyweight champion Batista teaming with the Intercontinental champion Shelton Benjamin to take on Triple H and Muhammad Hassan.

Regarding Jericho at the minute. His recent tweener like role is exactly what creative is going for. It is expected that Jericho will remain in this kind of role for the foreseeable future, however, a fully fledged face turn hasnít been ruled out of the question and is a distinct possibility. It would appear the full on heel Jericho is done with for now.

It is expected that Ric Flair will indeed be announcing his retirement at Backlash. It is understood that at this moment the WWE expects Flair to not extend his contract which expires in mid May. If that is the case, then Christian will get a big rub by more than likely seeing Flair out the door so to speak at Backlash. However, if Flair does sign a new deal, then it is expected he and Christian feud in the upcoming months.

With the Draft lottery just two weeks away, many are wondering just what moves will take place. The major issues are the cross brand rivalries from Wrestlemania. Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels along with Randy Orton and the Undertaker. It is believed that one of these four men will definitely be switched, however, two is not out of the running as both feuds have a lot of steam left in them.

On another note, it is expected that several new superstars will debut in the coming months. Names mentioned for possible moves up to the main roster are Ken Kennedy, Bobby Lashley, JTG and Shad who are a tag team, all of these men are down in OVW.

Re: WWE 205: Raising the Bar

I cannot wait until Lashley, Kennedy, and JTG & Shad make their debuts, and I cannot wait until the 2005 WWE Draft Lottery but most importantly I cannot wait until Backlash, so exciting, the matches you have created

WWE Smackdown preview- 4/22/05- Dunkin' Donuts Center, Providence, Rhode Island

This week's Smackdown comes to you from Providence, hot off the heels of a controversial ending to last Friday nights show.

Last week, JBL and Orlando Jordan screwed Booker T out of a place in the semi-finals of the #1 contenders tournament. We all believed that Orlando had finally had enough of JBL and his orders but in actual fact Orlando was simply fooling us all. What will JBL and Orlando have to say on the matter? And what will Booker T have in store for the cabinet? Surely the former 5 time WCW champion won't take lightly to what happened last week in Chicago.

Also, Rob Van Dam is sure to have revenge on his mind when it comes to MNM. Last week Van Dam seemed moments away from beating Kurt Angle in the #1 contenders tournament when Mercury, Nitro and Melina made themselves known and cost Van Dam the match. We are all wondering just what exactly the trio's answer will be as to why they cost RVD and we are all just as curious as to what Van Dam's response will be this week.

Last week also saw John Cena introduce us to the new WWE championship belt. Rey Mysterio however crashed the party and made it clear to Cena, not to underestimate him and that if Mysterio does win the tournament, he will go all out to take Cena's title. Will Mysterio have any more to say to the champ? And what will Cena have in store for the chain gang this week?

The only confirmed match for this weeks Smackdown is the first of our two #1 contenders tournament semi-finals. Kurt Angle will take on the 500 pound giant, Big Show. Angle has been on a roll of late but will the World's largest athlete prove too much to handle for the wrestling machine?

Find out all this and more this Friday night on Smackdown!
