I'm not sure if it's just me, but the old thread has become an absolute pain in the ass to open due to it trying to take me ten or so pages ahead of the actual last page. So to make it easier, here's a new thread.

Old thread for those of you who wish to refer back: http://www.wrestlingforum.com/booker/510932-official-btb-discussion-thread.html

~ No spamming
~ No arguing
~ Under any circumstances, NO "WELL EXCUUUUUUUSE ME, PRINCESS!"
~ You can discuss other BTBs here, it's fine. Don't shill your BTB needlessly, however
~ If you have a question regarding "What Should You Do," just go with your gut instinct
~ Use references like google or onlineworldofwrestling for answers to questions you could easily find yourself

Post away.

Tournaments can work, but I'm not running one for the foreseeable future. I attempted one last year and failed miserably. Perhaps I did not try hard enough to make it work, but it was a lesson learned. Let someone else take the initiative.

I've been incredibly lazy these past few months, but I'm taking an initiative and sorting some topics out in the section. The first one was the BTB Advertisement thread - it was beginning to clutter and was far removed from an actual advertisement thread. The next thing to be revised are the rules. I've been saying for months that I would revise 'em and I never did, but the beginning of Summer is as good a time as any. Afterward, I'll be looking at the Resources subsection and seeing what can be streamlined.

After I have reorganized, I will be looking for some monthly or quarter monthly features to generate discussion. I may also host the BTB Spring Awards, or maybe even a First Half of 2011 awards. Really depends on what free time I have, so look forward to some new stuff during the Summer.

Or maybe the 3 mods (there are still 3, right?) can work together and come up with a stable enough tournament. People will show up, and if they don't then good for their opponent. You don't have to have just match writing, you could have promo writing, you could give us a specific number of wrestlers to use in a match or a promo and whatever. I would love to run the tournament, but seeing as how some people know me but most don't, I doubt I'll get the permission to do it.

EDIT: I do have MSN and AIM if any of the mods aren't completely dismissing me volunteering and would like to talk it out with me, I'll gladly talk to any of you guys. PMing works great too.

Me, Shock, and BKB work... TOGETHER? :lmao You're funny, mang. That's an alien concept to us.

Seriously, if YOU want to run the Tournament, I'd have no problem with it. You'll have my blessing. I'm not sure about BKB or Shock, though. We'd all have to agree on allowing you to run it. You will also need one or two Mods to supervise the Tournament - keep order and discipline. Everything else is up to you. All four of us (including you) would have to discuss it ad nauseam before you actually put it together as well. There are a ton of variables to a tournament's success, but it ultimately starts with the person (or persons) running it.

Looks like you beat me to the punch. :p That's cool. I call dibs on the Summer Awards, though.

@BKB not seeing WCW's post. Wouldn't it help if you guys were to talk about it between yourselves before doing things like rule changes/tournaments/awards etc. of that nature. It may help to it's longevity by working as a tandem instead of each of you three going out and doing whatever you feel like.

That's just my take on it.

#1,783 ·
Definitely, I would love to! I haven't thought of everything just yet, but I'm going to put a lot of thought and effort into it and PM you guys later on when I have some stuff planned and structured, for sure. I'm going to take time to make sure it's good enough to not fail and then I'll PM it to one of you guys and hopefully we'll get an actual completed tournament.

Oh wowzers. A fresh Ad thread, Awards, Tourney talk, AND a KOP cameo (however hostile it sounded)...? This is going to be the best BTB summer EVER!

...and as for a tourney, I don't know much about them. But from what I've seen and read about them, I bid Leeroy and Co....good luck. And that's as sincere a good luck as I've ever given.

You have a point. We will build consensus on said point and take it into consideration. I'm not fussed about it, though.

As for making changes to the section at will, sometimes it's spontaneous and just happens. When we're on a roll, we're on a roll. I needed something to do, something to compensate for the lack of me doing anything for the section in a long time (besides writing a BTB). That's why I've started reorganizing and revising some threads.

Admittedly, I should've told BKB and Shock about it. Like you said, we should work as a team. I agree, but I'm rather impatient.

Why do we have to run just one or the other? Besides, you could make the same argument for the tournament. The cream of the crop would obviously rise to the top (if they were to compete) in that too.

I also suggest waiting for the Spring Awards to finish before starting the tournament because two things that require nominations and feedback from the community would be too much. One at a time is hard enough to maintain (ie; HOF)
The tournament didn't require nominations/feedback from the community last time and I doubt it will this time. It probably won't be up by then anyway if it happens.

I'd been doing the awards stuff for a bit, so just assumed I was again. I don't mind if Dubya wants to take them over.

#1,790 ·
i mean that is true but at the same time the tournament allows people's work that wouldnt be read to get recognized and noticed. For awards the only thing you can vote on is wat you have read and everybody reads the same threads. not saying those people rnt better and dont deserve to win but im saying it is predictable and unecissary

#1,793 ·
Just leave the jobber mod out, imo. :side:

Nah, I love ya, Shock.

I read just about everything in the section. Only two guys who have threads (or a thread, to be more accurate) who wouldn't be nominated for the awards would have a real chance at winning the tournament, imo. Neither of them will compete though. I could be wrong and someone could surprise me, but that's just my take.

I understand your want for a tournament being someone who feels they're underrated, and it may happen, but it doesn't mean awards need to be replaced.

edit - Pretty much, HH.

#1,792 ·
@OML -- too lazy to quote him  the same argument can be made for the tournament and the same guys would always win. It is an opportunity for new guys that don't get that much exposure to be heard and seen around the section and test their abilities amongst the greatest. And same as awards, it's a nice thing to see how you stand amongst the rest.

#1,794 ·
nor do i want them to be replaced. I mean they are important and give payoff to the best of the best and their work.

I was just responding to whoever said that we could only do one at a time. Which doesnt make sense bc wat does one have to do with the other? I mean will the board crash if more than one thing happens at the same time..

#1,798 ·
Just Leeroy and the mods would probably work, but Shock may want to compete too to try beat Melvisboy. I'd be fine with doing some judging.

And yeah, I'll donate credits if people want them.

i think the tournament would be more useful.. awards r pretty bland and we all know already who will win the awards so wat is the point....?
Right. This seems to be going in a circle now, so I'm done with it.

#1,795 ·
If you will be having some tourney or awards or some stuff, is there a prize or something? Like the winner will earn a lot of credits or etc.

Just askin though. But, ofcourse HOF 2011 induction is still on the works. How a tournament on a BTB thread works? Well, I don't know though. I only signed up here last month.

I think it's great that this is bringing conversation and discussion to the thread, but we don't want to put too many people to be in charge of the tournament because then there'll never be an agreement as to what one person wants to do because then another person will want to do something busy. Very similar to why a booker is in charge of ONE show if he were to be in a joint-BTB project, where one person takes one show and another person takes another show. You never see a BTB where only RAW is being written and every other week the writer switches off with another one.

So while it's great people want to be in charge of the tournament or help come up with ideas, I really think it should be one person (two may be a bit pushing it) having to answer to the moderators or just proof it with them before things get posted and updated, which therefore there will not be any arguments or headbutting between the two (or more people) in charge of the tournament.

The last thing we need is another BTB Tournament that fails. I have a lot of time on my hands, I keep trying to think of BTB's to write but I'm never motivated to put my ideas on paper and be consistent, but I do enjoy hosting things like this, as I've hosted a lot of "mafia" games in the Mafia Section (cheap plug for that section) I really would like the chance to do this, with the mods obviously supervising it and definitely helping me get a judging team of 3 or 4 people, which I'm sure they'll be able to convince some of the greats to judge. Then maybe have back-up judges in case the actual judges no-show or go MIA. I'm doing a lot of pre-planning already, and once I have a system set up, and take a look at past tournament formats, I'll have a big and stable plan that I can then present to WCW Rules, BKB Hulk, and Shock.

Whatya think?

I have almost 2 trillion credits, they don't mean anything, I guess I can give a trillion credits to someone, or a bunch of the mods and myself can distribute credits to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place people? Maybe have their thread stickied, this is something I'd talk to the mods about once I start doing things.

It's also a way for each booker to get feedback from whoever was the judge of their match/promo/whatever. So even when someone gets eliminated from the tournament the judge will say what they liked and disliked about whatever it was you wrote.

Saying Wolfy and Legend seems like a bit of a default answer, but I remember Wolfy's Wrestlemania in Vegas ads were pretty good, and I'm fairly sure both guys do them well in general. If you peruse a couple of their PPVs, there's probably a couple of recap packages in there somewhere. It feels good to help people.

EDIT: Woah, that's uncanny. I finished writing it up, posted it, then BAM - Hulk with the same answer above me. Weeeeeiiiiird.

Loving the talk about the tournament. Always nice to hear people considering it again, I thought it had potential last time. I look forward to seeing how it goes, hopefully the leeroy-BkB-Dubya alliance can get it done. I leave out Shock because I'm sure he's in the mood for some revenge following the crushing, CRUSHING defeat of one year previously... :D

Also, is Renegade a Hall Of Famer? I never knew. I feel like instead of feuding with Hornswoggle, I'm feuding with Ric Flair all of a sudden. Though by Ric Flair, I mean the old flabby man working in a dead-end promotion, of course. 8*D

Nah, if you're comparing him to Hall of Famers then I you cannot look past William "The Refrigerator" Perry

Well, because of Wolfy and Legend's video packages (cool video packages), I'm inspired to do one at one of my PPVs. They are also including the lyrics of the song which is awesome.
