Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
This section would probably run a little smoother if all the mods new the rules.

What? First the "kill Benoit in a match" comment, now I don't get this either. Are you high or something tonight?

If I don't see Stoj vs Shock in the next tourney, I won't be happy.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
TIP doesn't realize that controversy only creates cash if you're not irrelevant.
If there is a next tournament, I'd be disappointed. I hate to bring this up again, but people used to talk about how they never worked and whatever, and I always argued against them because I'd never seen a full tournament here before. Now that I have seen one, I suggest we don't have another one, because they just don't work.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
First sentence I agree with. Second paragraph I don't, really. The tourney only failed, really, because Dubya disappeared. The disappearance was probably justifiable, but it really messed things up, and when he got back, the "who cares anymore" attitude took over. The tourney would have been just fine, it was rolling really well up until that point. There'd been some great material posted, and we were looking forward to the results for the first knockout round. It genuinely could have gone well, but it just took the instigator's disappearance to change that. Again, nothing against Dubya, I think he's brilliant, but maybe a more reliable host next time could make the difference between a huge success and a resounding failure.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
Reliable host or non reliable host, from what the people who have been around tell me, every tournament has something go wrong. Whether it be the host getting busy, people bitching about scores, and arguments about WHEN THE SCORES ARE GOING TO BE UP~!
Whilst the section has some quality around at the moment, if a few threads slow down it's going to have only one or two interesting threads. I just feel in general a tournament is not something the section really needs.
I think it'd be better if everybody just stick to their projects and churns out the greatness for everybody to read. Each to their own I guess.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
I suppose. It was going pretty well, I just like to think we got unlucky. But then again, I'm optimistic. We never did find out who won Shock/Melvis - the first encounter.
I agree, though. Right now, might as well enjoy the activity, rather than slow quality bookers down by putting them in a tourney as well.
EDIT: And just to point out, I never thought we should have a tourney right now. I just was recommending that we shouldn't 100% 'rule it out ever again' for the future when it could still work.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
I have been in this section for a long ass time and I've seen many tournaments come and go and I think only ONCE did it work out properly to the end, and we still had all the bitching and complaining about scores and matchups with better bookers and all that shit. Every other tourny has failed, thanks to said bitching, or no shows, or plagirism, or general laziness from entrants who end up not giving a fuck. Add to that as Stoj said, it'd take away from the section as the guys carrying this place would be busy with it and not their threads.
The section has some life in it atm, some good writers around, and if Legend comes back, Para stops getting murdered at work, Alco gives a shit about his awesome GWE and Szumi re appears from the edge of the earth, it'll be right back up there as to how it was a year ago, and two years ago.
Tournaments fail, and they should never be brough back.

Pfft, even if that was the case, I would just bring in Zombie Benoit.
No, but should I ever got to that time (highly unlikely, it's ages away) I would stop using him and run RAW as a tribute show for Benoit the wrestler that we all saw and loved.

Actually, the tournament failed before that, really. The round we were up to only had one set of matches judged, or so I was told, and I had done my judging. For the record, I judged your match against Shock, which makes it amusing seeing the banter between you two over the past few years since I actually know who won. I might even have the critiques somewhere still as well.
Tournaments CAN work, but it's very unlikely for it to happen because you have to have so many people pulling their weight and not backing out. I guess it all depends about whether or not you have faith in people to follow through on their word.

I have always wanted to make either: Funaki or The Great Khali, into a world champion. Seriously of course, better than Khali was as champion anyway.

Benoit doesn't deserve a tribute, woman. Get your act together.
