I'd say 3 or 4 recognisable names, depending on the size of the promotion obviously. The rest should be talented indy wrestlers who can put on a show and set the promotion apart from others. Also, a decent backstory explaining how the company came to be etc.

Entertaining feuds/storylines. That's key for any thread. I don't care if it's the Boogeyman and Jamie Noble. If you can make it good (which would be a shock in itself) people will read it. While some people complain about the lack of creativity of how the promotion is made, I don't think that should matter, should you give out an entertaining promotion. While the ol' "Heyman gets a lot of money, creates own promotion" storyline is dry and redundant, if you can make good of it, go for it.

Pretty much agreed with both Perfect Poster and Jethro.

Jethro actually suggested something that I don't think people consider enough for a created fed - it needs to be DIFFERENT. People say the fed is created because they're disappointed with the direction of WWE or TNA, or they want to do something different, yet they book in the exact same way you'd expect from WWE or TNA, just with a little more swearing. That doesn't cut it for a created fed. You need something to make your fed different, and while an undercard of talented indy superstars is just one suggestion, it's at least something.

What PP said applies for all threads, but it's still correct. The fed needs to be entertaining.

Having started writting a review for it, I was very curious over the decision myself... Mac's proved to be for a good reason, so lets see if this is as well, I have a feelin it might have a twist
