Not been around on BTB for a long time since I lost interest in my GCB's WWE thread but I've got some great ideas (I think so, anyway) for 1993. It'd be like reliving my childhood for me, I loved WrestleMania 9. Until I got wiser to what wrestling was and realised, in hindsight, that it sucked big time. Still, I've got a lot of enthusiasm for that era.
As long as you treat bam bam with the respect he deserves and push the shit out of the steiners I'll be happy and please as little giant Gonzales as possible

Agree completely. From a shaky start at WM9 when he nearly fell off the top rope, he just got better and better. His gimmick was awesome as well.

I'm going to be as realistic as possible - Steiners were on fire so expect something from them. As for Gonzalez, well, I need to finish things with Taker first. I've got a few ideas in mind for him to try out.

WWF in 1993 had tons of potential. You had a building Hogan-Hart dream match. Hart/HBK/Razor/Hennig/Luger emerging as new stars, Yokozuna as a monster, the Steiners, Ric Flair was technically still in the company in early 93, Savage...just full of potential dream matches still and building of new stars.

I'd read it.

Okay so, I am a little new to this BTB thing, but I've been reading other's shows and there are usually always 5-6 matches for a 2 hour show like SmackDown. That's all fine and dandy, but there are some BTB's that will have 10-11 backstage promos/interviews on top of an opening in ring promo, then there are some BTB's that have 4-5 backstage segments/interviews on top of an opening in ring promo.

My question is, is there a magic number for backstage segments/interviews? I'm writing a BTB and I just can't get a grasp for the right amount, I don't want too many, but I also don't want too few.

no magic number per say, but since i usually use ewr, 2 hour shows have 11 segments so i usually do 5 matches/6 promos, or 6 matches/5promos

It also depends on the length of stuff. People seem to want every match on a weekly show to be a MOTYC, when most really shouldn't be that long. If you have too many long matches then they're not going to fit on a show.

For a 2 hour live Raw, the common number is 9 segments (8 quarters + 1 overrun segment).
For a 3 hour live Raw it's 13 (12 quarters, 1 overrun)

For Smackdown, since it's taped and doesn't have a overrun, the common number is 8 segments. (same goes for Raw from back then when it was taped). A lot of shows also had just 7 segments because SD has always been more about wrestling .

The amount of backstage stuff depends on what story you're trying to tell. A typical Raw/SD would have one or two backstage skits after every in ring segment or match.

When Russo wrote the shows, sometimes he had two segments in one quarter. So if you rewrite the Attitude era part under Russo and do "crash TV", you have to do one or two more segments.
