How many people do this 'booking backwards' technique I commonly see mentioned, do they find it effective?

What exactly is "booking backwards?"

With their planning, instead of planning week-by-week, or maybe a PPV at a time going forward they will, for example let's say the person is currently in their thread up to the RAW after WM and they want a Cena/HHH feud. Instead of building it up week-by-week and seeing how it goes, they plan the match for SummerSlam and then book backwards in their planning for the build-up.

Basically, they do their planning starting with the conclusion, or 'blow off' match and work their way back to the current point in time... if that makes any sense.

So maybe...
SummerSlam: HHH def. Cena > The Bash: Cena def. HHH via DQ etc.
Instead of...
Current point in time: RAW: HHH attacks Cena > Backlash: Cena def. HHH > Judgment Day: HHH def. Cena via DQ etc.

I've used it before. I didn't find it effective. Then again, when I book forwards it doesn't seem to work out well either, so maybe I'm not the best person to answer this question.

At least I've never booked D'Lo Brown to defeat my tag champs in a handicap match...

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

All my booking is done backwards. I always have matches and feuds planned months in advance. I start with the conclusion and go from there. Unfortunately, that's usually what makes me lose motivation. I want to get there, but having to write it out and everything just doesn't work out.

That's exactly the downside I can imagine. That's why generally with a thread I'll recap a month or so, so at least I'm within the area where I've personalized the environment a bit.

Where's the fun gone guys?

Just reading back through previous threads, hell of a laugh.

Yes, most of that fun saw us ripping eachother to pieces, but that's fun!

Not even to a backlash 2007 and I've already planned everything up to 'Mania 24.
