Anybody know of any examples of feuds in BTB that are old school vs. new school? Almost like a civil war type thing with in a brand between the older generation and the newer generation? Just looking for ideas/inspiration, I would be grateful for any guidance/help.

Default Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

I'm thinking of beginning a BTB where it involves Ryback debuting with the Shield as Bane, but his name would still be Ryback. I would repackage Rybacks character, giving him a more in depth skill set and making him more intellectual, as seen in Dark Knight Rises. I realize that Ryan Reeves may not be able to play that character in real life, however, I've been putting a lot of thought into this and I feel I am onto something awesome. My only conflict is that I feel maybe you guys might think the idea is silly, or unrealistic. My question is, is there anyone that would be interested in reading something like this? It would also include John Cena leaving the WWE to pursue an acting career.

I think they turn off the search function and several other features during PPVs and RAW.

Don't know if you're referring to a stable war or not, but the first one of these that pops in my head for some reason is actually the Michaels/Van Dam feud DDMac did way back when, which I think I have on file here. If you are looking for stables, you can try to jump in the time machine and find the beginnings of Wolfy's "New Wave" stable led by a then 'Legend Killer' Orton. They wound up retiring Flair, so that possibly got worked in there somewhere. Also regarding stables, I'm sure Szumi might have done something along those lines with the NWO at some point or another. Or I could just be wrong on that.

It does seem a tad silly to me. But I'm also all for trying different things. If you think you can pull it off, I think DC said it best a few pages ago - just do it. You can judge in theory how 'awesome' or 'silly' the idea/character may seem, but until it's actually done, no one can completely judge.

Although if you're gonna have Cena up and leave to act (I'm assuming because you just don't want to book him and I partially don't blame you), at least use him for something and don't have him just spontaneously leave. I think that's more unrealistic than an intelligent Ryan Reeves character. If you don't wanna book someone, at least write them off in some way to put someone over. Kill him off. Have him be the first person RyBane and his League of Shadows/Shield take out to establish themselves or something.

What is the general style people use for shows now a days? I know my format is different from what I used to do in my prime, and I don't read a lot of BTBs due to time constraints, so I'm curious to see if the lengthier style of full promos longer matches still reigns supreme.

A lot of people still use the longer format, yes.

I prefer to recap matches but still write the rest of the show pretty much in full. I find it difficult to sit and write out long matches especially on weekly shows, and don't really enjoy reading shortened promos for some reason. I guess everyone has different tastes for reading and for their writing

I did a feud between Tyson Kidd and Jerry Lynn in my current BTB similar to that, if you'd like to use it for reference. (Still ongoing.)

Five hour Wrestlemania? Too much? Yes? No?

For reference, Wrestlemania 20 was five hours.

Personally, I dont think so. The problem with WrestleMania 20 wasn't that the event was 5 hours, but that it had too many matches that no one cared about (the two fatal four way tag matches spring to mind) just to get guys on the card. If you've enough matches to fill out a 5 hour show that belong there and aren't just thrown together, I don't see a problem.
