Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

One match I never gotten a chance to try my hand at but am considering giving a shot at a future PPV with my current BTB is the Feast Or Fired Match. I always thought it was kind of a cool concept but the problem is theres 12 or 13 guys, 4 briefcases and you don't just take them off the ring posts, You also have to get out of the ring with them. I imagine the match being a total clustered mess.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

It could be, but if done right would be pretty fun to do. I think the trick for a bigger multi man match like a Feast or Fired or even a Rumble is to just focus on say on individual battle at a time rather than try to be getting down the actions of like 7 people at once; highlighting important points in the match. Because we can naturally assume that everyone else not being focused on for the bit that you are writing is just aimlessly brawling with someone else, resting, or down.

Yeah good point. I'll keep that in mind if I decide to do one.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

Okay, question time.

What are your thoughts on using real-life storylines and ideas from the past that worked extremely well, that wrestling companies have used, in your own thread? If at advances storylines and character progression in a way that I, we as bookers and a writers, want it to for a certain person or people, is their a problem to take and borrow bits and pieces of storylines and angles that have worked in the past and adding them in to your own work? Would it put you off as a reader? Would you dislike it? Would you like it? Under what circumstances etc. etc.

Talk to me.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

There is no such thing as original idea.

Everything is influenced or inspired by something, even if you can't pinpoint exactly what inspired or influenced you.

For example, the Dave Batista promo in my BTB drew a lot of influence from Jerry Lawler's burial of ECW back in the late 90s.

I see no issue in homages to classic wrestling angles or taking your favourite parts from segments, shows, etc and giving it your own spin on it.

Anything that's no directly stealing ideas and passing them off as your own is fine to me.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

I think there's no problem with it as long as it is a little different. Wrestling angles are recycled time and time again, however there's always little tweaks involved.

I think as long as it's not the same two people having the same storyline etc then there's no problem with it. Love angles and stables are a prime example, commonly used but there's always a little twist to make it something different.

As for would i like it or not? Of course i'd like it if it's written well. It's all about the execution of it, not the idea itself.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

I don't think there is a problem with using previous angles as a base for a new one, tweaking it a little is always needed though, just as long as it isn't the same angle with the same exact people. As the man above said, angles get recycled all the time.

All depends on the way it is executed if I will like it or not. If it's executed well, then I will more than likely enjoy reading the angle.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

Yeah it is done all the time. Any idea that any one of us has will have had to have had some sort of influence from somewhere; just tweaked. So basing a storyline off of another existing one is fine.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

This is gonna sound a little vain but I'm curious to know: has anyone read my first show?

I know it's pretty long but I was curious as to how many people had actually read it.
