I don't really find I have that many problems writing gimmick matches. The toughest matches I find to write are tag team matches with more than just 2 teams with 2 guys to a team. It's difficult to try and get everyone enough in-ring to make the match seem like it's on an even keel. I tried something new with my first multi-man tag match in my BTB by having a face get the heat for a bit and I think that worked really well (even thought I don't think I was at my best in terms of executing it).

As far as multi-man over-the-top battle royals go, I actually love writing them. For me, it's about getting a rhythm going and I'm a guy who likes to plan out specific spots for a match, writes them and then chains them together. So I'll plan out my entrances and figure out how each guy is going to get into the build and build to and from each guys entrance. Like I said in an above post, it's also good to try and keep the length between entrances even. I find that helps the match have a better flow to it so the reader subconsciously knows when the next person is going to enter, kinda like that would IRL.

KOTM and Lethal Lockdown? Goodluck Lethal Lockdown is MUCH easier than KOTM I will say that.

KOTM is an awkward match to write because of the complicated stipulations that go with it.

You've gotta have pinned someone to be able to hang the title belt. The person pinned then has to spend 2 Minutes in the penalty box and the fact you have to hang the title belt as opposed to pull it down means you have to get the belt, climb the ladder, hang it. It's a pretty convoluted match TBH. Just glad I don't have to worry about writing it just yet.

For those who are looking to do WarGames style matches (like Lethal Lockdown), I'd definitely recommend Szumi's WCW 2001/2002 thread and also Wolfy did an elimination WarGames match for a Survivor Series a while back which is still one of my favorite matches ever written.

For me the hardest match Iíve written up is the Royal Rumble match. Iíve got the show up now and it was actually fun writing up a Rumble match. I've also written up an Iron Man Match in my previous btb, it was really tough to write that up, so much action to cover inside an hour. Rumble match for me is slightly more difficult because you have to keep track of eliminations, which stars are in the ring and so on.

I agree. I find writing up tag matches very tough. I don't enjoy writing up tag matches. A one on one ladder match is fine for me to write up but something like a huge multi man ladder match is very hard to write up.

I've never wrote a real proper gimmick match before unless you count Six-Pack Challenges which are in a way similar to something like King of the Mountain. What I found is that you can't have more than say 3 guys being fully involved at once as to really give every man in there some form of showcase and offence. Because the essence of those matches is that it is anybody's game, so everyone has to look like they have a chance of winning.

But another similar question; has anyone got any advice for writing a Hell in a Cell Match? And also a link to one in a thread somewhere would be hugely appreciated

In addition to what Kingpin's got tabbed, there's the Orton/Cena HIAC if you wanna go for non-title hatred

Props for that. Also reading KOP's Steel Cage Showdown match, too. Both make me feel old.

I know a few people have just recently finished their PPVs and a handful of others have completed full PPVs before, so any hints/tips/advice with regards to writing them?
Honestly, it's where you let your belt loose/hair down/come unbound/insert 'let all hang out' euphemism here. That's really the only advice (and you can hardly call it that) I can personally give you because everyone has their own thing that works for them. Of course, it never, ever hurts to watch PPV quality matches and read previous PPVs from on here. There's plenty of both to look at, depending on what you're looking for doing with yours. If anything, I find reading some the bigger PPVs on here relieve my anxiety and pump me up to write it. The only other thing I can say is follow through with your plans for it.

But then again, I probably shouldn't be the one giving advice on PPVs. Seeing as how my big shows tend to piss people off for some reason

THAT'S WHAT BIG SHOWS ARE SUPPOSED TO DO!

Or at least that's how I feel. You should try and leave who reader pissed off about what happens when it comes to booking because it just gets them that much more interested for the next show.

Thanks guy, just bookmarked those two Wolfy ones if either one of the two I'm going to be doing are half as good as those I'll be extremely happy and at The Hurricane. That was brilliant.
