Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

I've seen some people simply just write the ending to the match, which is pretty pointless and you can not tell a story with that at all so I wouldn't even recommend anybody doing that.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

Bullet points suck IMO, horrible way of writing a show. But as for recapping matches; TV matches generally don't mean much so I don't see the point in fully writing out every match. Just make sure the essential developments are conveyed to the reader.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

I thought bullet points were ok, got across the main points of the match and got the rhythm and style of match across without having to spend time writing about the 60 seconds someone is in a submission

The idea of bullet points is okay, I just feel it looks horrible and would prefer to just write out the points in a nice way instead of bullet form.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

I think another good way is to write out in full the last few minutes but giving a small recap of what happened earlier in the match included too, I know that Melvis is very good at writing TV matches in that style.

Personally, I choose to write the TV matches out in full and just include less detail in them though.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

I swear I once saw someone attempt a match while only using commentary. Not sure how that would go, but I doubt it worked well.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

At the end of the day, a well written and structured match can tell 10x the story than a promo can. As long as you put across that story in a logical, easy and reader-friendly way, whilst still being entertaining and fun to read, then I generally don't seen a problem with any certain way of writing a match, be it bullet points, recapped or whatever. It just depends on your strengths, you weaknesses and you preferences.

I only know that phrase because Marge Simpson said it once.
