When you are reading somebody's show, do you prefer reading a fully detailed written out show, or a recapped version?
Recaps don't take as long, and you get the key points, but unlike the full detailed version, you don't quite get the same atmosphere of a real match/promo, which grasps a readers mind.
What's everyone elses opinion?

I prefer recaps, this is a be the booker section after all, it's about good booking over writing, to be honest reading a few thousand word match, no matter how well written, usually bores me.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
Recapped for general shows like Raw/Smackdown/Impact Wrestling but full for big cards like Specials and PPV's.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
I recently started a new BTB after my previous 2 were cut short due to computer problems.. But now a brand new comp and no issues will be occurring lol Anyway the new BTB I am going for is rebooking the InVasion Angle and more into the future. It's a huge project and would love to have the help of a co-booker to help write segments and bounce ideas off of. There is only so much one person can do, and especially with something this huge, a partner would be amazing.. Anyway if anyone is interested, let me know and we can work something out..
Also just a side note, i love how active the section is becoming

I enjoy writing fullish matches, but not a big fan of recapping. Just feel like I'm leaving stuff out and making people seem weak that I don't want to make weak and then all my recaps begin sounding the same. I don't know. However, I much more enjoy reading recaps, that's for sure.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
It is an old discussion, but I prefer to read full shows because it does make you be more able to emotionally invest in what is happening because you have more of a description to it and can see more clearly what each of the characters perspective is. But on the other hand, I'd read a recapped show or BTB if the booking is good, because at the end of the day, this isn't all a writing competition. As long as there is some quality booking going on I see no reason to not read a recapped show.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
Prefer full shows. Not got anything against recapped shows, if someone writes a recap version and its written well and gets the main points across to the reader then great.

KOB,
This is exactly what I do in my 'Universal Wrestling League' thread.
'Lack of realism' is a subjective term, especially when it comes to pro wrestling. Just because you're using stars of the past doesn't mean it can't be presented in a 'realistic'/modern fashion.
I say go for it.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
Aside from the traditional way of writing matches like recapped and in fullm what other ways have you seen it done on this forum? I know I tried out using bullet points before but is there any other less popular ways of writing a match?
