I especially enjoy watching a promo/segment/match with the superstar/s I am writting for at that time, gives me ideas here and there and to help picture how it would look in my head.

Word.
But yeah, I enjoy writing more if I have something on that's relevant to what I'm writing, if I have like WWE 2005 on whilst writing ECW 2001, I'd be distracted and wouldn't write but if it was something relevant/kind of relevant, I can enjoy writing more.

funny enough that actually happened to me once, that I was really distracted, to the point where I had to delete whatever it is I wrote that day and write it again
If I remember correctly I was watching a Raw show before Backlash 03, and I was in the middle of writting a show that was in totally different year. I wasn't really paying attention to what I was doing and when I was writting I was talking about Backlash being the next show in promos and on commentary, when it wasn't and I had to rewrite nearly all of it.
Quick question, due to laze, am in the market for some btb reading material from the recapped style end of spectrum, not fussed about era or promotion really. So, any good/interesting current threads anyone could suggest for my viewing pleasure?
Anybody else feel they write better if they're watching wrestling while they write? I'm not usually one to enjoy distractions that much but I feel it works great.
I don't do very well writing while I'm watching something, but much moreso after I've watched something somewhat relevant to what I'm wanting to do. Writing a tag team match is a lot less taxing of a task right after watching a damn good one. But I think that goes without saying.

This I can second. Looking at time period-relevant stuff is best for me, but I hate when my mind starts wandering on those things. Like other guys in the same time period. All that leads to is me getting distracted with my inner toddler acting up and saying "I want to write him".

Hadn't seen you 'round these parts in a while
But the first ones that come to mind are Brye/The Bad Guy's thread having somewhat recapped shows so far (I think they qualify as somewhat recapped) if you're in for maybe some 'tude Era stuff, and Kintaro's thread is in 2004 and has what I would call a semi-recapped style. Both are very easy to read and get through. Not aware of any full-on recapped stuff atm.

Doesn't help me at all. It actually distracts me. I can't have anything on the TV when I'm writing. Having music on however does help me. I like to put on music that goes along with the character I'm writing for at that moment.

Yeah it also works great for me when I'm watching wrestling. It definetely motivates me more to write better. I sometimes struggle writing up matches especially for ppvs so I watch the top 10/15/30 moves of a certain superstar(for example Rey Mysterio, RVD, Eddie Guerrero) to help me write out a longer match for a ppv. Tag matches/multi-man matches I find the hardest to write.

If I try to watch wrestling while writing, I'd just end up watching rather than writing. What works for me, is watching it, then turning it off and writing afterwards. Has to be from the time period I'm writing though, because if it's from another period then I'd end up thinking of ways I can book this guy or that guy and end up wanting to do that time period instead.

I used to find this, still do in a way to be fair but, I improved (if you can call it that) by watching some old school tag matches. Like Road Warrior, Rock N' Roll Express or Four Horsemen stuff to see what goes on in terms of psychology and ring action and wrote what went down as they did it and then worded it in a way that would fit a booking thread and kind of (I suppose) cracked the formula in writing tag matches. I'm sure the same could be applied if you did that with the modern tag team wrestling. Stuff from the late 90's to today. I called late 90's modern and it happened over 12 years ago. Feeling old right now.
