But if you then decide to name it, and then use it for a couple of months, would it be possible a first time reader not know what it is, without having to describe the actual move every time?
Its just something I was wondering about and this is the best place to start haha

Lol. Actually you could hype up the moves before they are used, I remember last year MVP had a video on youtube where he was debuting his new finishers for NJPW in a gym, but for WWE that promo exactly would probably only work for a Taz/Kurt Angle/Ken Shamrock type of character.
Obviously someone is not going to know what the move is, but if you are either descriptive enough to help them get an idea or just answer their questions about it when it comes up, that is fine. I also like the way Wolfy has his first page, you could try something like that then have the general name for the move in parenthesizes next to it.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
Just a quick little one from me.
Now I presume that a fair few people would understand this - When you're trying to think of a project and planning it, other ideas for projects pop in to your head and after this happening several times, you have plans for a fair few projects. Eventually, you have to go for one idea and run with it. I'm at stage two, so to speak, where I have a long list of possible projects I would like to do and I would enjoy doing, but I cannot seem to decide which to actually do. So what factors do you think I, or anybody, should take in to consideration when choosing a project?

I'd say go with them one where you'll have the most creative freedom and will have the ability to create some great angles.

Decide whether or not you want to book current day or a retro BTB. Have a look around the section and see what others are doing - you're most likely not going to want to book 2006 when it's such a popular year to book. Look at the rosters and see what you can do with the characters you have.

I've had this problem many a time, as I'm sure is known by the many threads I've had in this section. Always somehow lose interest because other ideas pop into my head. would have liked to have continued my WCW thread but I just lost interest even though I love WCW. Guess the planning wasn't all there. Now, I've decided to try something I've always wanted to book but never did because I never knew how to go about it. Now I have a fair idea, I'm going to give it a go, got loads of plans for it, loads of good ones too I think. I know you like the year 2004 and you've had a fair few attempts at it, don't see many 04 threads around these waters, maybe look at Kintaro's 04 thread for inspiration? He did his pretty well.

I think where it went wrong for me was the period of the year I chose to start from; Immediately after Wrestlemania. For example, in 2004, Eddie and Benoit were both relatively new champions and both needed establishing and it almost put me under a certain pressure to do that successfully, simply because Benoit and Eddie winning were such huge moments. You could say the same for 2005 as well, with Batista and Cena both winning their respective championships.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
couple of questions
1. This is the first time I've ever really looked into this. WHAT IS IT? Do I just make , write and book my own stuff? From scratch ?
2. Can I do my own made up fed with made up wrestlers? Can they interact with real wrestlers (assuming they're alive)
3. Do I just write shows? Do I explain the characters at some point?
4. Do I do play by play for the matches or just kinda do the outcome?

Kintaro has done pretty well, but I've heard there's another good 2004 thread going around that gets updated about once every 2-3 months.
As for the whole getting new ideas and changing threads, it has happened to me numerous times in the past. And I do mean NUMEROUS times. I don't think there's an actual strategy or what not that goes into making a thread the one that sticks. People mention planning, but that's not the way to stick to a thread. It will help, but at the end of the day, if you don't plan, you're an idiot. Almost everybody plans yet it still rarely results in a succesful thread.
For me personally, I feel as if there is not one thing that makes you stick to a thread. I didn't change the way I prepared for 2004 compared to all my failed projects before it, something just clicked. And as cheesy as it sounds, I think it's simply when you find the right thread, you just sort of know because even when these new ideas pop into my head, and I may explore them a little, realistically there's no way I'm leaving 2004. I don't know what it is, it's just something in my head telling me to stick with it.
No idea if any of this made sense, but it's passed my bed time so bad luck.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
An even quicker one from me, lmfao.
In general, what do people think about altering the way you type up your dialogue based on someone's accent? For example, take Wolf Beast's Armando Estrada - The way he puts "Ju" instead of you etc. It could be done for a lot of people; AAE, Carlito and to a certain extent, Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, Santino Marella etc. I'm not entirely sure whether to use it or not, or whether it would just get annoying and tedious to read?
