Hello?
Well, for those of you who are here, a discussion question - what's the feeling on obvious match finishes? Do you think it takes away from the overall quality of a match?

Can you give an example please?

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
If this means anything, I'd much rather have an obvious and predictable match finish than an overbooked clusterfuck.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
I don't really have an example on my mind, but a common nitpicky critisizm of a great deal of movies and such is that the ending is obvious, hereby affecting the movie as a whole (i.e. Titanic).
I know the same whole principle doesn't completely apply to wrestling, but I'm sure there are matches that since the result is somewhat obvious, some feel it devaluates the whole contest. Just wanna know how folks around here feel.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
Sometimes the obvious finish is the best one, but unpredictability and counters add to the end of the match. The thing is that you don't want to overuse them, and having the obvious finish sometimes is for the best, else the unpredictable will become boring and almost predictable.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
Depends on a number of factors but if you're good enough at what you do, no match should be completely predictable. Best example I can think of is several years ago when Triple H defended the World Title against Maven on Raw. Anybody with half a brain knew that Maven wasn't gonna beat Triple H let alone for the belt, but it was built up so perfectly throughout the show and the match was laid out so nicely that by the fifth near fall, you actually started to believe that Maven could win it. Until he was Pedigreed of course. But yeah.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
Is it against the rules to have "FUCKED" in your title of a BTB.
Also, do you guys prefer serious or non-serious BTB's?

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread
Nah, it's not against the rules. I had "Fuck" for one of my titles, so you're good to go.
Depends on how good they are. If the standard of quality is there, I wouldn't care if the writer treated it like it was their magnum opus or just coffee break material.
