I agree with what Melvis said there should be some sort of showcase element of things where maybe after there is a time to post them in the tourny sign up thread (?) or a place for people to see. Or at least the finals or the winner's work.

I love losing my internet connection for a few hours. The only good thing that comes out of it is that I am on the computer without any distractions to write. In these two or three hours I got more writing done then I had the past two weeks, because with no internet for a short while I didn't have every five minutes a message on facebook or something similar to distract me.

What I'm going to be doing is having everyone who wants to join the tournament PM me their entries. I will then divide up the matches (depending on how many the judges want to judge respectively) I will send it to them, they will PM me back with the match they are grading and with their thoughts based on the scoring, and I will post it all in the tournament thread. So if I do that, there will only be one thread that will feature all the rounds, since the only thing being posted in it is discussion, my post which will include all the matches, and then other people commenting and such. One thread for the entire tournament should be fine, right?

There will be four rounds in this tournament.

Qualifying, Elite 8, Final 4, and the Finals.

There will be both match writing and promos. I am not allowing people to use work they've done for their BTB's. The winner should be someone who can write good work now and not months ago.

You literally only have to write for 4 rounds if you were to go all the way, so I don't really understand how the section will be dead for 2 months.

Seeing as how it's a concern, anyone know of a way for it NOT to stop the section dead for two months?
Tournaments are not the reason why "life is sucked out of BTBs." If people can't manage their time wisely, that's on them. No one forces them to enter the Tournament, and no one forces them to mismanage whatever time they set aside for BTB and shit like that. Never really saw the argument for this, considering the allocation of time is entirely dependent on the writer in question. Life circumstances, however, are definitely a factor.

Anyway, the Tournament has my blessing. If it fails, it fails. No harm in attempting to do (another) one anyway. If e-reputations (if such a thing exists) are ruined, then someone clearly takes things a little too seriously. The cynical nature in this section is not entirely unfounded, but sometimes, if someone wants to do something else with BTB, I say let 'em. Tournaments, newsletters, awards, rankings, and the like don't inherently take anything away from the BTBs written here.

Oh, and RIGHT TO GAY will probably be lumped alongside Black Friday for the foreseeable future.

Life circumstances were what I was getting at mostly, not so much people's time investments. If people can't manage that, yeah, that's shit on them, but I was more or less going on the fact that it may run into the beginning of school/university for some, myself included. But the fact that tourney and thread management could be an issue was my concern. Didn't mean to sound so cynical.

Oh, and I'm all for making people submit new stuff in every round, Leeroy. Wasn't it that you could use old work just for qualifying in the older tourneys? Either way, I think that'll go a ways into deciding who gets into that top crop.

Basically every tournament or similar thing that has been discussed, praised, and then done, has gone to shit. Seen it way too many times to think it will go better this time.

Feel free to prove me wrong. Nothing will make me happier, but with the shit it sometimes causes, and the hurt to the activity of the section too, I don't hold out much hope.

You didn't sound cynical at all. More realistic than anything. You have realistic expectations. Can't fault you for that line of thinking, really. I can't fault anyone for being cynical about "yet another Tournament," but hey, its success or failure doesn't impact the BTB section too greatly and if it does fail, the section will go on as usual. If it succeeds, then perhaps Tournaments will have a place here in the future. I'm not sure we'll ever have another World Cup - the Tournaments that take up the most time and effort - but a small one like this is nothing to be concerned about.

I understand that, mang. I've held that attitude (and in some way, still do), but in the end, the section's future doesn't really hinge on the Tournament's success or failure. Most will still go about writing their BTBs, as they always do. If shit happens, shit happens. You can't satisfy everybody.

No point in sounding like a broken record and repeating everything said again, just completely agree with WCW as usual.

Changing subject a bit, WCW, whatever happened to revamping the threads in the resources section? I remember there was a talk about it a few weeks ago

By the end of the Summer, revisions should be done. I'm still contemplating on the majority of the stuff in the BTB Resources section, such as what should go, what should stay, etc. I'm rewriting the BTB rules mainly from scratch as well, so with my (slow) pace, it should be awhile. I've also been busy with outside-of-BTB stuff, so not all of my attention is on the BTB Resources section, though it does need some cleanup.

Outside-of-BTB Stuff, that is complete and utter blasphemy. The Gods Admins shall have your head for this.

Anywho, the tournament should be entertaining to look through and the like.

Also, for anyone in here, what in-thread events are you looking forward to? For me it would be Stoj's Judgment Day, he is going on and on about how good it is, and I really doubt it will be.

the obvious answers for in thread events that people look forward to-- Wolfy's Summerslam, Legend's Summerslam, iMac's Mania and BKB just becoming more active with shows in general is a good thing.
