Whereas, when reading other threads, you pick up skills as to how to structure a show, how to develop new skills in setting out and writing a match, and all that it entails, etc.

This whole craze that comes up about reviews, and then it being proclaimed as something vital or something to someone's development is just retarded, imo.
Whilst I agree on the bolded point surely you'd have to agree it is extremely hard to find flaws in your own work when you are inevitably trying to write in the best way possible so a nudge or a hint from someone wouldn't go amiss.

Changing subject a bit here, I remember a while back, probably more then a year already a thread opened up by some new guy where the backstory was Vince created a time machine in the 80's and brought superstars from now back there. He started at Wrestlemania 1 I think and had guys like Cena, Punk, Eddie, Owen, Andre, Hogan and the like all in their prime all on the same card. I actually got a laugh out of this and thought it was a funny way to try and find a loophole in the 'no using deceased wrestlers in a time frame where they are dead' rule.

Anyone remember this or have a link to it?

It seems as if we have more BTB mods than active threads right now.

On the subject of reviews.

I'd be lying if I said reviews weren't kind of a motivation, at first you think they aren't doing for reviews but sometimes when your thread falls back to page 3 or 4 with out anyone commenting after a new show is posted it's a little discouraging. I'm not saying everyone on here writes for the sole purposes of getting reviews, I don't. If I didn't enjoy doing this but I was garunteed 15 reviews a show I still wouldn't do this but feedback is still appriecated.

On the subject of do reviews actaully make you better. I like to use them as a reference point. This is what people think are good, this is what people who are more accomplished better bookers than me think I can improve on. I usually like my storylines so what people say wouldn't affect those, but how I write something, how can I better imrpove how I present an angle, that's where reviewing helps. It shouldn't be your only source of getting better, reading other threads is also a big help to me but it can give you a better prospective on your own work than looking at it yourself thinking, I did the best I can

Don't recall, after I read the first post I didn't feel the need to go in there again was horrid but I think it made it past the second page so I am assuming a couple.

lol, I had to re-read the part about the 80s as I assumed Vince would be bringing guys from the 80's to the present day.

I've tried a fee times to read and write up some not so detailed feedback for a booker that really needs to improve. The only problem is about half way through the show I get so bored because the shows lack entertainment value.

I have a feeling that someone else (a newbie probably) suggested something similar and got shot down unsurprisingly. There would have to be some sort of ranking so that Wolf Beast isn't selected to review some illiterate jobber obviously, but it would definitely encourage more activity I bet.

Reviews = motivation and I have no shame in saying that.
Yeah... NO. Too many variables. Micromanagement alone would be a workload any 3 of us (mods) would consider folly and wholly unneeded. I'm not going to force a member of the BTB Section (an ambiguous label, to be sure) to review a show they may not want to read. I can already hear wanton cries of "Tyrant!" There's already a degree of over-moderation at play in this section. To add any more burdens (yes, I call being forced to review a shit show a burden) on the members would actually decrease activity, because no one would want to visit the section where they're designated to review a show that may or may not interest 'em, so they'll just abandon their BTBs. That's a worse-case scenario. The best case scenario is that they just ignore the rule completely and go about their writing, and review whatever the hell they want without us breathing down their necks.

I commend your intentions, but the method leaves much to be desired. I regularly visit a site with user-generated content quite similar to the BTB Section (except it's for video games) where they too are wrestling with the problems of feedback being very low on the list of the priorities for members. People like incentive. It's not enough just to get a "pat on the back" for reviewing some poor soul's show. For some people, they want to see some return (whether immediate or gradual), and there's no guarantee their own show will be reviewed in return (though it is an unspoken courtesy). As of now, there's no immediate remedy for this. I don't think there ever will be, unless some "Achievement" system is implemented or something similar of that nature in order to reward those members who do review without much thought of return. Right now, you'll just have to trust the judgment of the members and let 'em review what they want without hassle.
