I have a feeling that someone else (a newbie probably) suggested something similar and got shot down unsurprisingly. There would have to be some sort of ranking so that Wolf Beast isn't selected to review some iliterate jobber obviously, but it would definitely encourage more activity I bet.

Reviews = motivation and I have no shame in saying that.
There might be something in that, but it would probably have to be optional/voluntary rather than designated, maybe with some prizes or benefits.

How about a reviewer ranking system where people are ranked on the quantity/quality of their reviews. The best reviewers could get prizes, well the forum based prizes aren't that good but credits, bold/coloured user title, optional extra/early username change (I know people can change it once every 3 months or something anyway)?

Could also be btb section based rewards like having your thread pinned on the first page for a certain amount of time, or if you do well enough/make enough effort as a reviewer you get to bypass the 30 day rule for starting a new thread once. Stuff like that I guess.

On the contrary, wouldn't it be better to review something if it's not well-written, original or interesting? You could give someone who needs help some much needed tips which wouldn't go amiss.

I'm not urging everyone to go OTT with reviews but reviewing someone you wouldn't normally once a month and providing constructive criticism would go a long way. It's probably help the section as a whole, too.

A review for your BTB every so often is maybe something that some 'need' however, I feel that if you are as interested in your own thread as you think you are, there is no need to want reviews all the time. Be The Booker is here for something for you to do that you enjoy, not really something for people to post and get praise imo, if that makes sense.

No, not really. Some people write reviews as an active way of enjoying someone's show/thread.

We've been through this many times in the thread. Yes writing should be done because you enjoy it but to sit there and say that you would be alright with no reviews or posts what-so-ever and having a thread which is only you in there would be a huge motivation killer to take the time and to post it there. If it is how people feel then why post it here and want reviews? It is because people want in the back of their minds some sort of feedback and recognition for their work and satisfaction that they completed a month or a PPV BTB time. If not then you might as well just stick to the word document and read over it yourself not revealing your work to anyone or posting it on any forms of btb forums.

Some might strive for reviews more then others but denying the need or want for reviews completely is a lie.

I think you missed the point that Bradley was trying to get across, which I agree with. If someone were to take the time to review another thread that isn't as good that is new and needs help, it would go a long way and I am sure that the person would apreciate it and take any forms of criticism into consideration to improve greatly. Whereas things like BKB, STOJ, iMac, Legend, Shock, Wolfy reviewing each other weekly sure is great and fun because they enjoy each other's work but it doesn't really do anything to one another as they all know how to write and get the job done.

You don't need reviews to improve, it does not even help as much as say, reading other HOF threads the like, because everyone has a certain amount of "stick" to the ideas they have developed and I bet that most ignore or forget the advice they are given on certain things, anyway.

Whereas, when reading other threads, you pick up skills as to how to structure a show, how to develop new skills in setting out and writing a match, and all that it entails, etc.

This whole craze that comes up about reviews, and then it being proclaimed as something vital or something to someone's development is just retarded, imo.

Yeah I agree with Harlem. I get the impression that it's 'cool' to pretend that you don't appreciate feedback but if your posting your thread on a public forum surely you must want it. Okay that's not strictly true, I mean surely you must be interested in other people reading your shows, and people leaving reviews shows that they have. Vince McMahon cares about ratings, and not just from a monetary point of view. Yes someone can be interested in their own thread, and the promotion/federation they are writing, but hypothetically would you be as interested in the WWE or whatever if only a few other people apart from yourself were watching it?

I appreciate what you are saying in expanding what Bradley said. However I can understand why certain posters review eachother's thread each week. They are into the storylines and feuds/thread as a whole, and unfortunately the majority (not all) new threads don't last very long. So I can see why those guys would rather invest the time to review someone's thread that they know is more likely to have many more future shows.

Like I said, giving people feedback isn't just about helping them improve. Sometimes it's just helpful to do as it gets you involved in a show, in a thread you are interested in, where a show is just text on a page rather than actually on TV with sound etc.

However, sometimes I do get a bit of a sense of snobbery in this section where certain posters are reluctant to post in certain threads that they think are less fashionable/cool or whatever.

I somewhat agree with this. If you've already layed the foundations down for a feud in one show and 9 out of 10 reviews are saying that it won't be an interesting feud, this that and the other, logically you can't just pretend that you haven't layed down the foundations already and the feud is already in motion and over the course of the next few shows we expect said feud to carry on.

If you read other threads then you already know what makes a good feud and a bad feud and you wouldn't have the problem of 9 out of 10 people saying that your feuds are terrible. In a way, it almost benefits the read to review rather than the writer to be reviewed because when reviewing you take the show bit by bit, digest it and you pick stuff up.

If any of that makes sense . But I can understand why people look for reviews for motivation. Knowing that someone is reading I guess would be a little bit of motivation but in terms of improvement I think reading other's work is the way forward. Unless of course the advice given in the feedback isn't directly related to booking but instead the structure, grammar, spelling or vocabulary etc.

@Steamed Hams I wasn't telling the bookers I mentioned not to review each other if they enjoy it and like each other's compelling storylines, by all means but I was just trying to get across that if once in a blue moon one of the above would spend half an hour giving some advice to someone who was in need of it, then it would be much more of use.
