Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

Trying to bring life back to this thread.

Does how someone performs in real life over time change your perception of them and how you use them?

For me it really only affects how I use if I'm on the fence. Like for example Matt Hardy. I don't hate the guy, he's not my favorite wrestler ever. But I feel like I'd have been when way more inclined to push him to the main event (regardless of when and where my thread was set) two years ago when he was killing Jeff or doing solid midcard stuff in ECW. As opposed to now where he's been worthless for a while. Like in a say a 2005 when Hardy is hot, I feel like I wouldn't push him to the main event ever when say 2 years ago I would've seriously considered it.

Once upon a time the Pain was brought in 2008.......It will be brought again........

Soon....

Though I'm still new to this, I would be inclined to agree, especially if its somone you have followed for some time. I actually believe thats why Christian has been a hot character in most threads. I still am not sure how but Christian has been a solid performer and his stint in TNA gave people confidence in the character. There are guys booking Christian in World Title Matches back during times before he won the NWA Belt.

Also as much as a booker may want to ignore real life (if there is any out there), its almost impossible to do so, to be at least.

While posing questions, I have my own inquiry. In booking for forums, what are general opinions of doing a show where some of it is summarized and some is in full? Admittingly, it may seem sporadic. For example, my upcoming Smackdown and a few older shows are like that.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

Do whatever is the easiest for you. Your readers are reading your shows for the ideas you have, not for the way you write. Which makes me think...if Wolf Beast never writes another full show again and just simply write "long" recaps...would he still have the strong fanbase that he has now? Obviously he would, {/dumb question lol}

He definitely would, like you said yourself it isn't for the way you write it is for the ideas you have and your storylines. If he decided to make recaps from here on out I am sure he would still be as respected and adored by the section as ever.

Wolfy doesn't have a big enough fan base. Guy seems to have not to no readers despite the fact he's the best ever.

My 'fanbase' dwindled sometime between 2007 and 2009. I just write shows now for a smaller audience

I love thinking of ideas and plots and storylines. That is what I enjoy doing. Writing shows, to me, can become a chore and I don't have fun typing up a show, but I do feel proud and happy and accomplished when posting it. I wish I had that passion for writing up shows as you do. Maybe when I do create another thread (would be my 3rd/4th I believe in this section) maybe it'll just be recapping style. But yeah...your passion for writing up all those shows (to me, at least) is absolutely amazing.

Check yo' PM too

I don't think it was your fault though, it's not like your witting went downhill for there to be a reason for people not posting in as much. I think it has to do with the section as a whole not being as active as it was back then, I remember as a non signed up member as a guest popping in every so-often and every day there would be ten new pages on the discussion thread or every five minutes a post in someone's BTB. Just isn't as popular as it was I guess.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

It's because a lot of people would prefer to review shows that they're going to get reviews back for, regardless of whether that review is going to help them or not.

Re: The Official BTB Discussion Thread

I read reviews that basically bold the subject of the match/promo and say "I like ____ but I felt that ___ was out of character in the promo." Then they say 7.5/10 or 9/10. I don't like the whole ratings thing. Some bookers will get a ridiculous rating for stupid reasons. 1) Because if they compliment the person's work then they'll get good reviews on their work and 2) Because the person they are reviewing is established and everyone speaks highly about them, even though this is the first show of theirs you are reading.

I like the actual feedbackers who do good jobs on feedbacking!
