I'm not sure if it's just me, but the old thread has become an absolute pain in the ass to open due to it trying to take me ten or so pages ahead of the actual last page. So to make it easier, here's a new thread.

Old thread for those of you who wish to refer back: http://www.wrestlingforum.com/booker/510932-official-btb-discussion-thread.html

~ No spamming
~ No arguing
~ Under any circumstances, NO "WELL EXCUUUUUUUSE ME, PRINCESS!"
~ You can discuss other BTBs here, it's fine. Don't shill your BTB needlessly, however
~ If you have a question regarding "What Should You Do," just go with your gut instinct
~ Use references like google or onlineworldofwrestling for answers to questions you could easily find yourself

Post away.

Back on the recaps debate, I kinda think it's also better to do what you want, and not what others want you do. Do what makes you happy in terms of recaps or full shows. In my case, it's recaps. Produce your BTB for your enjoyment, not for others.
This, This and this. To many people care about what other people think. Write for your enjoyment, if it's quality, people will like and read, no matter what format it's in.

Recaps can be fine, especially if the writer can't portray a particular character for a promo. My cap goes off to all the writers on here that can do full shows and get every superstar/diva practically spot on, but for others, that might not be the case. I know for me, personally, I enjoy recapping shows just because it helps with not getting drained as easily and because I would do such an injustice to over half the characters if I tried to portray them.

I'd say 35 is the cutoff age for a guy to be considered the future of the company. If a guy is a viable main eventer by the age of 35, he can carry it for at least five more years. A woman's shelf life is unfortunately shorter than a man's in the wrestling business, so I'd say 35 is the magical number in which they usually begin winding down. If she hits her stride at 30, that's fine. There are always exceptions, though. As far as young goes, I'd say "young" for a guy and a gal is 20 - 22. That's really young. Most professional wrestlers hit their stride around 28 - 33.

Okay, I've stumbled across a problem that I've discussed with a couple of people, but it seems that they're just as clueless as I am with regards to finding a way around it. I'm still with my ROH project, it's just going slowly but I'm enjoying the writing and I'm confident that I'm going to stick with it (and you can still post predictions for Honor Nation, link is in my sig... :side:). For those of you who aren't familiar with my roster, one of the most beloved babyfaces I have is a crazed masked man called Delirious, and I'm really struggling to write his promos, and his promos are important as they are one of his selling points and one of the reasons he is adored so much by the fans... It's just that his promos are a little... Unique? Off center? Different? I don't know, take a look for yourself and call it what you want.

It's not the content that I'm struggling with - And yes, it's not just him screaming, there is actual content with actual words that are somewhat relevant to his character and direction - It's more the delivery I'm struggling with, and how I convey and create the promos through writing. I don't just want to have to recap them whilst I write everyone elses' out in full, especially because I'm very happy and looking forward to the direction I'll be taking him in. So how would you write him?

Any ideas are better than none, which is currently what I have. :(

Is there a thread that I can look at that starts at a certain point, but it then puts the thread into the future with monthly recaps? Say they start at WM and they do a recap of what happened for each brand during April and so on to a certain point. I'm thinking of doing it with a BtB I'm working on and wanted to see if someone did it very well.

Would there be any interest at all to read a BTB based on CZW? I've been thinking of starting it for a while but decided that if I do, I'll start it in December after Cage of Death as most of the current storylines will probably end there. I'm asking this because I don't wanna write a wall of text if nobody's gonna read it. Another reason I would start it in December is to see if TEW 2013's real world mod gets better between now and then. If it does, i'll most likely book it with TEW 2013, if not, I'm going with EWR.

I've been watching it for over a year now so I have a pretty good idea about their product, background, characters etc.

CZW? If done well, perhaps. And if you're not writing it for yourself, why bother? Yes, reviews are nice to read and an indication that someone somewhere is reading it, but do it for yourself first. I kind of ignored this mentality when I created a WWE thread for my first stint back here in years. That was a mistake. I posted WWE because that's what people would read, but I really wanted to do something else. He knows who he is, but something someone said to me kind of scared me off of posting my created fed with created characters because A) No one knows who the fuck these people are and B) Describing 'em is a pain in the ass. However, after I posted my WWE thread, I kind of regretted not going through with what I wanted to do in the first place.

In the end, do what you want because you want to do it.

I agree with you that 97 and 2002 were new generation years. This latest period in the WWE looks like a bit of a turning point as well though. CM Punk and Daniel Bryan's rise to the top, all the top indy stars signing with the 'E. Maybe 2013 or 2014 may go down in history as "new generation" years.

Every time I see the phrase 'New Generation' I just think of 1994-1995. Because that's what the era was called. Just like the following eras had a name...

98-2002; Attitude
2002-2004; Ruthless Aggression
2005-Present; Whatever Cenas era is called.

Anyone calling anything after 1997 the 'new generation' is still rehashing the moniker WWF pedaled in the mid 90's.

I am really upset with myself. I actually have kept to a project in writing, for the first time in a long, long time. And the place where I really was a top guy for so long, here at WF, hasn't seen me post much of it. The WCW 99 thread I started back in November/December is still going, but I don't know the last time I updated it here. And there's such a backlog of shows I'd have to post over here I doubt I'll ever do it. Shame :(

How do you guys feel about writing really technical matches? I'm aiming to do a pretty long TV match on my next Smackdown, and I'm about half way through it but I'm struggling with the chain wrestling aspects of the match.

I know the majority of the match isn't going to be a series of submissions, but there has to be an element of that in there as both guys are pretty apt with submissions and counters etc.

Does a relatively basic knowledge of in-ring physics and psychology do the job for you guys when writing these matches, or would you sit there and watch a couple of full length matches to see what is required? Just something I've been thinking about whilst writing this show and wondered if anyone had any thoughts/similar issues.

As a reader, I think its a matter of sticking to what you're comfortable with. If you're trying really hard to write this technical masterpiece and you're not exactly comfortable in writing it, then it will show in your writing. I, personally, would much rather read a more simple and fluid piece than a gritty, detailed yet clunky, 50/50, not so sure'ish piece, if that makes sense. But I guess on the other hand, staying within your comfort zone doesn't allow you to improve blah blah. So basically I'm rambling.

Basically, if it's not working out for you as a writer, it won't work out for us as a reader and we'll be able to tell a mile off. Stick to what you're comfortable with but don't be afraid to try it anyway, there's no harm in going back and restarting if needs be.

Did that even answer the question remotely? I dunno.

Ramble ramble ramble.
