I'm not sure if it's just me, but the old thread has become an absolute pain in the ass to open due to it trying to take me ten or so pages ahead of the actual last page. So to make it easier, here's a new thread.
~ No spamming
~ No arguing
~ Under any circumstances, NO "WELL EXCUUUUUUUSE ME, PRINCESS!"
~ You can discuss other BTBs here, it's fine. Don't shill your BTB needlessly, however
~ If you have a question regarding "What Should You Do," just go with your gut instinct
~ Use references like google or onlineworldofwrestling for answers to questions you could easily find yourself
If it is just a case of not having anything for them for a while, just give them an injury. BUT, if it is the fact that you can't think of anything for them... say you have Shawn Michaels and you don't have any plans for him any more... just use him to put over someone and have that someone beat them in a 'Loser leaves WWE Match' or 'If Shawn Michaels loses, he must retire' ala CP and Ric Flair.
I don't think it happens enough to be honest, but I'm sure a lot of others will say that titles should only change hands on pay-per-views.
For me, as long as it fits a particular story, or if the timing is right, it's fine. The first example that comes to mind in BTB is Legend, when he booked The Big Show to beat Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship on Raw. It didn't need happen on a pay-per-view, but it felt no less important than it would've been had it not been on television.
One of the greatest Raw moments I can remember is Mankind winning what was the WWF title for the first time in 1998. That was fantastic to watch and a really wonderful moment that didn't lose anything being on TV and not on pay-per-view. I even think that it being on Raw was better than it would've been on PPV, not that we'll ever know.
As long as it's a storyline that's been built up well then there's no reason why it wouldn't work.
I remember when I dropped Jeff Hardy from The WWE Chronicles.
No one could quite believe I would release him, but I hated the guy and was not going to use him, so instead, I used him to help plot a new story arc for Edge.
Remember when that was a name for one of my threads? :side:
But yeah, can't even turn him back in to The American Badass gimmick again because he just returned as the deadman at Mania 20 (where I'm starting from)
Ah, I see.... You COULD always change the results about and have the whole buried alive thing never happen? Or, just give him a career ending injury. It's unrealistic but if you don't like him that much, meh.
I know how you feel regarding The Undertaker, he is pretty tough/repetitive to book for, especially as the Deadman.
Personally I'd have a young guy wanting to make an impact target him. If you could put the Deadman on the shelf then you'd create a new threat right off the bat. That or possibly a heel 'Ministry' Taker? Always something I thought would be interesting to book, difficult but different.
Has any BtB even been moderately successful with fictional characters? I want to try one, I started one before but I realized that I started it all wrong. Would anybody actually read one of these.
I'd give it a read if it was done correctly. Characters would need to be firmly established, and the writing would have to be exceptional to get me interested. With that being said, I'd read anything thats a little different to all the generic WWE threads we get around here.
And to answer your other question, no. Nobody has written a successful thread with fictional characters.
I was thinking about this the other day and it has occurred to me that there hasn't been a Last Man Standing match at WrestleMania in quite a while if ever, is there a reason for that or something? What are your opinions on something like that?
Very rare matches at Mania need a gimmick. It's Mania. It doesn't need them. There are exceptions like Trips/Taker last year. That needed it because it was a rematch from the year before and needed something different.
Some people view WM as too sophisticated for gimmick matches. I think a LMS match could work definitely. That's one I think would be doable within the environment of WM.
I wouldn't mind seeing one. I've thrown them in for some of my lesser matches. I'm just saying that at Mania ahead of all PPV's, it doesn't need them. It's already got the 'big time' feel without them.
And eventually have one (usually Haas) turn on the other. Or at least it builds (or currently building) toward it ... Until the thread vanishes/hasn't gotten that far yet.

I haven't gotten a chance to read a ton of the BTBs here yet, but I've noticed on a couple other forums I was lurking on, you see a lot of WWE threads starting, and then one of two things will happen (or sometimes both):
1) Cena is completely buried right out of the gate with no rhyme or reason.
2) Roman Reigns is replaced by Kassius Ohno with no rhyme or reason.
Not sure if this has been asked before but what's the worst feud you've ever seen in a BTB? You don't need to say the name of the thread, but I'm just curious as to what bad feuds you've seen.
I'm not sure about the feud itself, but I remember one guy whose name I cannot recall who was just terrible. I remember a piece of his 'feud' dialogue was like
I'm Triple H. I am no longer fighting with Umaga. I am now a rival with Jeff Hardy.
No idea why this question made me remember that, but it did *shrug*
