Triple Threat United States Championship Match: Evan Bourne vs. R-Truth vs. Ted DiBiase Jr. (c)
The Monday Night after the Money in the Bank Pay Per View, July 19th, The General Manager, Jim Ross, announced: “There will be a Triple Threat Match at SummerSlam for the United States Championship and, next week, there will be two qualifying matches. The matches would be Evan Bourne vs. John Morrison; and the Great Khali vs. R-Truth.” Evan Bourne won by avoiding Morrison’s Starship Pain and hitting an Air Bourne on him for the three-count. R-Truth won by Count-Out. The following week, the two contenders wrestled each other while Ted DiBiase watched at ringside. Bourne won the match-up. The week after that R-Truth, Evan Bourne and Ted DiBiase wrestled a 6-Man tag team match against 3 new superstars from Nexus: Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater and Skip Sheffield. Nexus won because of miscommunication between the three opponents.
Intercontinental Championship Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Kofi Kingston ©
At the Money in the Bank Pay Per View, Kofi Kingston delivered the Boom Drop off the top of a ladder onto Drew McIntyre. The Friday night after it, July 23rd, Kofi Kingston was in a Intercontinental Championship match against Cody Rhodes. Drew McIntyre interfered and attacked Kofi Kingston, giving Cody the win by DQ. On the July 30th edition of SmackDown, Drew McIntyre came out and whined about his career almost being taken from him by Kofi Kingston. Kofi came out and announced “next week there will be a number one contender’s match for the IC championship between the attacker, Drew McIntyre and the person whose chance was robbed, Cody Rhodes. McIntyre won the fight with a Future Shock DDT. On the July 13th edition of SmackDown! And the weekend before SummerSlam, Kofi Kingston was attacked during a backstage interview by Drew McIntyre.
World Tag Team Championship Match: S.E.S (Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury) vs. ShoMiz ©
Not much behind this back story, just that Teddy Long announced they would be wrestling ShoMiz at SummerSlam, just the weekend before SummerSlam.
Diva’s Champion: Kelly Kelly © vs. Serena
Serena shocked the WWE Universe by winning a Diva’s Battle Royal to win a spot at SummerSlam, facing Kelly Kelly for the Diva’s Championship.
WWE Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos vs. The Hart Dynasty ©
On the May 24th, 2010 episode of Raw, the Uso’s attacked the Hart Dynasty. They attempted another attack on the June 17th episode of Raw. At the Fatal-4-Way Pay-Per-View, the Hart Dynasty defended they’re Unified Tag Team Titles against the Uso’s. They fought for the Title again at the Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View where the Harts were dominant once again. The Uso’s then challenged The Hart Dynasty again at SummerSlam. Jim Ross announced that it will be The Uso’s last chance to face the Hart Dynasty during their reign as Unified Tag Team Titles. The next week, The Uso’s interfered with the Hart’s match against Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater.
World Heavyweight Championship Match: Edge vs. CM Punk
When Edge lost the Money In The Bank match to John Morrison, He felt disgraced so he announced he would leave Raw’s roster and join SmackDown’s. He made an impact two weeks after MITB by beating CM Punk in a Singles Match. Teddy Long then announced that CM Punk will be defending his title against Edge at SummerSlam. And if S.E.S interferes in anyway, CM Punk will have his title stripped away and be suspended until further notice. The next week, the week before SummerSlam, CM Punk and Luke Gallows defeated Edge and his former partner, Christian in a Tag Team Match. As Straight Edge was celebrating, Edge went for a spear on CM Punk and Christian hit a Kill switch on Luke Gallows. Punk, however, avoided Edge’s spear and hit a Go To Sleep on Edge.
WWE Championship Match: Sheamus vs. Randy Orton
Two weeks after Money In The Bank, Randy Orton won a Triple Threat Number 1 Contender’s match against Chris Jericho and Mark Henry. The week, after he interrupted Sheamus’ promo with an RKO. The Monday before SummerSlam, the fans got a sneak peek of SummerSlam when Randy Orton went one-on-one with Sheamus in a Steel Cage. Orton won the match and whilst celebrating, Sheamus delivered a big boot to Orton. Then capitalized with a Celtic Cross.
