~ No spamming
~ No arguing
~ Under any circumstances, NO "WELL EXCUUUUUUUSE ME, PRINCESS!"
~ You can discuss other BTBs here, it's fine. Don't shill your BTB needlessly, however
~ If you have a question regarding "What Should You Do," just go with your gut instinct
~ Do not discuss the Tournament here. There's an official discussion thread for that purpose.

Post away.

re: BTB Discussion Thread - July/August 2010

I'll kick it off and say Happy July everyone. I've been here about a month and launched one BTB that wasn't really that good. Not in terms of look or whatever just not the creative outlet I was looking for.

So it got me thinking...What was your very first BTB? Either here or on another forum. What was your first one you've created?

Mine was a ECW (What if it survived 2001 things lol) But it wasn't that good. It lasted like 4 shows and was all recap. I think I used the f word way too much. Mind you I was a teenager when I wrote it.

So what was yours...how long did it last...was it worth a shit lol

re: BTB Discussion Thread - July/August 2010

My first was if WWE bought TNA in 2006 and went on from there. I thought I was writing some amazing stuff, but started reading some Wolfy, Forever Delayed, Renegade and etc., and was kinda discouraged in my work. After some lackluster shows, I tried a couple of partnerships, which didn't do too well either. Kinda made a name for myself in the BTB World Cups and tournaments after that, but didn't really hold a worthwhile thread together. Had a created fed (UWM) a few years back, and a pretty good partnership with Alco as well.

I got a quick question...I KNOW I can always just go on instinct - but I was just gonna get a quick consensus from everyone. Would anyone be interested in reading a BTB set in the past tense? Like if I did some 80's or early 90's stuff? Or would I be better off just sticking in the present? Thanks in advance, and sorry for spamming up your thread LOL!!

BTB's in the past tense are much more interesting then ones in present to be honest but harder to hold as not everyone at least I know myself watched the WWF / other companies in the late eighties or earliy nineties, I've seen a few odd shows here and there but not enough to understand what's happening.

A BTB a few years in the past ok, but so far in the past you'll have to make sure you know that time yourself like the palm of your hand getting the characters right which isn't an easy task, I remember a BTB from the mid 80's around here nearly a year ago by 'white rhino' or a name like that, it lasted a few months but didn't get much attention cause half of the section wasn't watching back then.

And answering the above question, my first thread on here was a 99' RR thread and my first thread in general was from Wrestlemania 19.

thanks for the answer Double H!!! I figured the only thing working against me would be reader not being familiar with the characters. I myself know all the workers from the 80's, no problem there. But I dont want to come across as a geezer LOL.

and to answer the question above, my first BTB was one based on Portland Wrestling taking place in 1991.

re: BTB Discussion Thread - July/August 2010

My first BTB was a couple of years ago, when I first joined in April 2008. It was basically just the road to WM24, but it was pretty shocking, tbh. My first Raw had 3 matches, and I'd left out half my Main Eventers by accident. Wrestlemania was equally atrocious - Finlay vs Kennedy for the custody of Hornswoggle, HHH/Goldberg in a 7 minute cage match, while Jericho retained the WWE Title in 7 minutes, too. Plus a bunch of filler, which was just as bad. It's fair to say my current one is a bit better, haha. This is only my second, but there's a huge difference. Learn from your mistakes, I guess. :p

re: BTB Discussion Thread - July/August 2010

My first BTB here was Jimmy Harts XWF from 2001, but almost immediately I quit that :p I've had a Smackdown btb on another forum and now I'm running my WWE one, so I amn't the most experienced when it comes to BTB, when I read guys like Wolfy's, Nige's, Szumi's and Crazian's threads I get motivated and disheartened at the same time :p

re: BTB Discussion Thread - July/August 2010

First BTB here was last June, ECW 2009 :D. It got some good readers, so I'd think I did OK with it before leaving it. I still have a long way to go, but I've made some big improvements since those days :p and I hope to continue making em.

Edit: Oh and Happy July everyone!!!! :)

re: BTB Discussion Thread - July/August 2010

My first BTB was True Warrior Wrestling, like 3 years ago. Never got past the first show, but if I remember correctly, I had a shitload of plans, the best of which being a Superhero-gimmick stable composed of "Super" Stevie Richards, his sidekick The Hurricane, and love interest, Mighty Molly. Eventually, Hurricane got tired of being treated like a joke and turned on Richards, becoming "Serious" Shane Helms, with him wearing a black mask. The feud would've culminated in a Cape vs. Mask match. Ah man, good times.

Stoj, you know me and my advertisements. I'd pay it no mind, TBH. Not even the threads I post ever get off the ground. That's something you can relate to. ;)
Yes I can, but with me it's okay, because nobody wants to read anyway. When somebody of your potential is wasted, it irks me.

BTW, you got some kind of mod power to edit BKB's sig, guy totally took advantage of an msn typo? :p

That GCW ruse really had me fooled.
Steve Corino will do that to you, Shocker. It's okay. He had me fooled as well.

:lmao Don't sell yourself so short.

Sadly, I do not have the power to edit his sig. If I did, I'd probably place the opposite of what my sig says - Backlund Disapproves - and have it as his sig for all time.

re: BTB Discussion Thread - July/August 2010

I come online during a twenty minute break and see an abusive rep comment and the revelation that my best friend may have moved on form yet another project. It makes an old man sad.
Who says I've moved on? :p Side projects are allowed, if I'm correct. Szumi had one, I can have one. Anybody can have a one-off project (well, it has to be approved by yours truly and by Backlund). It's not the main project.

re: BTB Discussion Thread - July/August 2010

If we're going with some light-hearted off topic discussion, I'm going to have to metal it up with a new band I just discovered a few days ago: Hial the Villain. Check 'em out.

Anywho, going back to the first page, my first BTB was WWE: Road to WrestleMania 24, which later became WWE: Reimagined. Started after No Way Out 2008, and first show was crap. I still think the ideas had promise, but the execution was terrible. I seemed to find my stride towards the last few shows I wrote, then I decided on a created fed that never got off the ground. Would've been revolutionary if it did, though. :side:

Sean O'Haire weeps because of our failures, RRC. You probably should've continued with your created fed, but who the hell am I to say that? :p

Moderately intrigued as to why no-one likes the so-called "plonker", I wasn't here either. Key word is "moderately".

I'd be up for a Half-Year Awards, tbh. I've been around for the whole period, for once, so I could actually mention some good work I've seen. Awards are always good fun, imo - added to the tourney, it could really make sure there's always interesting stuff going in the section, tbh.
