~ No spamming
~ No arguing
~ Under any circumstances, NO "WELL EXCUUUUUUUSE ME, PRINCESS!"
~ You can discuss other BTBs here, it's fine. Don't shill your BTB needlessly, however
~ If you have a question regarding "What Should You Do," just go with your gut instinct
~ Do not discuss the Tournament here. There's an official discussion thread for that purpose.

Post away.

Ah, but I've met you already, leeroy. Long shot tbh, I've met a lot of people since I've been here, you could have been one of them for all I know... :D Ooh, why not wear a sticker on your shirt all day saying 'leeroy-riz', maybe I'll notice you then. There, problem solved. See you tomorrow. :side:

I agree with BkB, funnily enough, Candice and Maria are both fairly useless. Both of them are hot, but from a wrestling standpoint... useless. Valets/interviewers yes, wrestlers no. You have people in your thread already who are perfectly fine as interviewers, I'm guessing, if it's a modern WWE one, as well as divas who can wrestle too, meaning there's no need for either woman to return. There are better options.

Hahahaha, that cracked me up! Where in NYC are you staying? In one of the boroughs? What are you doing here while on vacation? You tour much?

I remember someone bring up the point of "this person was way out of character" line and how bullshit of a line it is. I could've sworn it was WCW Rules (I am also on that bandwagon of not calling him Caesar) and he was saying how the writer could think that person was bland and wanted to give him a new shot of personality and such. Even if Candice and Maria are blah and not wrestling material (which I agree) and even though it was agreed that as a valent/manager/interviewer or something of that nature is fine, but why not bring in one of them and give her a brand new moveset, give her some excitement and some flare? How are we ever going to stop doing the same shit in BTB's with the same people if you never give people brand new flare?

I think the person who you change the character of has to have some sort of credibilty to pull the move off. I think what the others are saying is that Candice or Maria is too far of a reach to take seriously no matter how someone can write them. But if someone as an example writes Santino as a serious character, he has shown flashes of someone that could be with some of the moves he can pull off.

I actually think Candice Michelle and Maria are both potentially workable as in ring or out of ring characters within a WWE BTB (despite my disliking of Maria), but personally I prefer and see more potential in Candice, as imo she improved decently from initial bow (not to wow levels but certainly workable as part of a modern Women's division environment), the fact she is a former Women's champion instantly helps also.

The idea of Santino at this point in time becoming a serious character imo would take far more work for me to believe/enjoy than many others, he is currently sitting at Hornswoggle levels of non-seriousness, maybe lower even and actually the constant stream of sudden over night Santino transformations bore me.

Because that's like saying the Big Show came back and weighed 100 lbs now. It's just not feasible. You can take a piece of shit like Candice or Maria and dress it up as pretty as you want, but at the end of the day, it's still a piece of shit. The only difference is that now it's a piece of shit with other stuff stuck in it.
Lol, that post made me laugh. Maria is at least over, remember when she won that poll on Raw? She can play the ditsy interview or hot valet, but I agree you should keep her out of the ring, although she isn't the worst, just take a look at Eve...

To be fair, I was right up there with the most un-shift-able people on WF when Eve became Diva's Champion, because tbh, she couldn't wrestle. While I still wouldn't want her as Champion (and I praised the lord above when Alicia won it), she has surprised me a lot in recent months, and at least she can use those martial arts moves - I hate her one-footed dropkicks and her moonsault always looks strange to me, but otherwise, she's probably better than Maria.

I can't remember who it was exactly on here... I want to say LaurinaitisOSU? Anyway, whoever it was suggested that Santino be wrapped into the potential return of Bret Hart, and have Bret pick an opponent to face Shawn Michaels. I can't remember the exact storyline they were going for, but it essentially had various clips being shown of Santino training with the Hitman, and eventually he became a complete beast in the ring (kayfabe, he's perfectly capable, as we know) for when he took on HBK. I thought that was a great idea, but I agree, that overnight transformations are fairly boring and, let's be honest, a bit of a cop-out.

Personally, I love Santino's comedy, so I wouldn't change him. :D

Manhattan, Times Square. I'm leaving today, actually, for Boston, but it was brilliant while I was here. Yankees game, show on Broadway, great food. A bunch of other stuff, too, it's been great. I was a bit overwhelmed at first, it's a pretty huge place, but after I met some of the people here, I really warmed to it all, and it's been one hell of an experience, tbh.

Do you guys feel an ECW Hardcore TV format for weekly shows would work for a replacement of the current format for TNA iMPACT! for a BTB. Such as clips from matches and in ring promos from house shows edited together with backstage promos and videos hyping up feuds?

re: BTB Discussion Thread - July/August 2010

Meh. I think it would of still made sense back when they had 1 hour on Spike TV. It would make the show an alternative format to WWE's, would allow more people to get over (which is obviously something that needs to happen), and it would allow more of a variety of the sort of matches that are shown. My only real concern is whether it can work in a 2 hour format or not.

Is there a specific term(s) used for when a wrestler bounces off the ropes and runs towards a downed opponent, but the opponent is getting up and then drops onto their stomach as the wrestler jumps over them? I mean, it can be described fairly easily, I'm just wondering if there's a shorter name I can use.

Its the up and over

re: BTB Discussion Thread - July/August 2010

Nah, that's the dropdown. The up and over is in a corner, where you run into the corner chest first, throw your feet up and over the opponent running in, and push off the top rope, landing on your feet behind him. :)

Fuck this thread is boring.
Tell me about it, it's times like this I really miss Szumi, Renegade, and DDmac.

The I.C. was always good for a nice shit storm.

At this point I'd settle for Emperor DC ripping someone a new one as only he can.

I guess I should add something constructive, Booking Influences: actual bookers, time periods, promotions, fellow BTBers, what wrestling shows do you watch when looking for inspiration. Who or what are your booking influences?

Me I'd say Paul Heyman and Vince Russo; Attitude Era, ECW, Smackdown six. Almost anything from the 90's boom period. WWE, WCW, ECW.
