Nice way to kick off the show, giving us a reminder of the happenings of last week, as well as a little preview of what to expect this week, which while at this stage is just two matches, looks good thus far.
Promo time for Generation Next to open the show? Exactly what I wanted to see to allow tem to cement themselves as the top heel faction in UWM. I quite liked the premise behind the opening promo, with Genereation Next really trying to introduce just who they are to the audience, talking themselves up as being the best. I would have maybe liked some substance to their claims, rather than just ďWeíve beaten the bestĒ, with maybe a list of people that theyíve beaten that are names in pro wrestling, or maybe just places where theyíve won, like Japan or England. Calling the crowd dumb, rather than stupid seemed a little weak, but I loved Aries showing off the tag belt to show just who they are. The transition into talking about The Hooliganz was a little weak. I would have liked to have seen Aries say something more along the lines of ďGordon thought he had found someone to beat us when he found The HooliganzĒ, or something like that to allow the promo to ebb and flow a little bit better. Strong too, should have referred to The Hooliganz saying they have the heart to win, as him just randomly starting off about heart took awhile to click for me until I remembered The Hooliganz had promo time last week. Still, aside from that, I thought this was pretty good until The Hooliganz interrupted. London and Kendrick are obviously very limited in terms of ability on the mic in their current role as weíve seen before, although with that said, I thought they were pretty good. Could have maybe done with a little more length and attitude from them to Generation Next, really getting into them, but I thought it was still pretty good. The announcement of the title match for The Massacre wasnít surprising, though itís definitely a good one. Should be a good match at the Pay-Per-View. Really good to see you continuing to put some time into the tag division. A few more teams may be needed, but at least at this stage youíre doing a good job with these guy, opening up with a pretty good promo.
Americaís Most Wanted with Lance Cade playing the role of James Storm, eh? Canít say I mind since I always loved AMW, and I think Cade is a great tag worker. I wouldnít have minded you bringing in The Redneck Wrecking Crew and pairing Harris with someone different, actually, but this pairing is still a good one. Generation Next getting the win was fine to establish them as the best team going at the moment, but itís good to see another team popping up in the division, because as time goes by youíre going to need depth.
Okay little promo from Haas here. No real personality shining through, but the Haas of pain line was pretty nice, along with the enemies line at the end. Obviously Iíd like a little more personality to be developed for Haas, even if it is just that of an intense badass, because your roster isnít stacked with personality at the moment. The wrestling talent is there; the character and ability on the mic is whatís lacking for a lot of the guys.
Have to say, I liked the little Daniels promo. Shows what heís all about, and also gives a message to Gregory Helms. Pretty smooth promo.
So Benjamin and AJ are on opposite sides of the brackets? I thought because they both competed last week they would face in the semifinals. Obviously not. Well, this seems to obviously be the final youíre shooting for, which I canít say is a problem since it should be a pretty good match. I quite liked the attitude from Benjamin here, calling himself the true phenomenal one, while the closing line worked well in the context of the promo too. Hopefully these two develop more heat in weeks to come, because they seem destined to meet in the final.
Haas was the obvious choice for this one since he had a promo earlier and got some time on screen last week, but Iím glad to see Kenny isnít merely a jobber and that he did get some offence in against Charlie. The guy is talented, so I think he could be of good use to you. Still, good to see Haas getting pushed too.
Paul Heymanís promo seemed to start a little suddenly. I maybe would have instead liked to have seen Leticia go interview Heyman, having heard about some big announcement that Heyman had, so we then got this. Nice little batch of announcements here, with a TWGTT reunion sure to be pretty great, along with another team teaming up for the first time, which is good to see, while The Hooliganz get to gain some momentum, much like Generation Next did earlier. I donít really care about the last announcement though.
Already a lot to look forward to next week.
Helms comes out to his Hurricane music as a heel? Iím not sure if Iím meant to read anything into that, but it seems, well, wrong. This match never seemed like going down normally, as the feud looked set to kick off last weke, and Iím glad to see we got something different here. Helms, who already seems angry, losing like this, then jumping Daniels afterwards has this set up for an aggressive feud. I would have maybe liked Helms to have attacked Daniels a bit more aggressively before the match to really give him a reason to dominate the whole match, but still, good to see a feud kicking off between these two.
Another pretty nice show here. The show maybe seemed a little short, with another promo or two perhaps helping length, but still, I thought you did a good job with what you did here by getting a few announcements for next week out, continuing some feuds on, and getting all of the faces on screen that you needed to. Itís good to see the shows coming quickly too, as hopefully thatís an indication youíre enjoying writing them (or that you have no life, whatever ). Good stuff.
