Default TNA: Repackaging the Product

Total Nonstop Action
repackaging the product

| - | Buildup | - |
2006, the year Total Nonstop Action was at its peak, its prime was years ahead of it and it still managed as a new company on the market to put on the best matches of the year. It had a solid main event scene, with a strong tag team division and it’s unparallel mid card in the X Division. With its success in late 2006, two former TNA legends as you might want to call them, Ron Killings and CM Punk returned to the company even though the rumors were going around that we may be seeing them in the WWE. TNA were basking in their new found fans and rosters, they were on a roll yet it wouldn’t stop here. March 2007, they made two blockbuster signs—former WWE Tag Team Champion and WWE Cruiserweight Champion, Chavo Guerrero Jnr. And Shelton Benjamin; both men felt the WWE were not utilizing their abilities to their fullest, Chavo felt this way seeing as the cruiserweight division went downhill, after Rey Mysterio’s push to the main event status and it was only him left in the division, while Benjamin felt that on Raw he was insulted with the ‘big mumma’ gimmick and both requested for a release, it wouldn’t take long for them to switch over to TNA.

WWE were keeping an eye on them, but kept quiet, they still believed seeing as they had power in most of the media which included, TV, WWE Films, Music and others, that TNA wasn’t a threat yet and left them alone. TNA didn’t take this as an insult and go right after the WWE to attempt to prove to them that they were the ‘real deal’ yet smartly, instead kept signing superstars, waiting for the right free agents and making the right deals. By the summer of 2007, they had Chris Masters, Billy Kidman, Brian Kendrick, Paul London, Johnny Nitro, Joey Mercury, Gregory Helms, Rikishi, Rob Van Dam and the most surprisingly Brock Lesnar!

These names leaving did leave a hole in the WWE’s lower card section, but the WWE at the time had their annual ‘Talent Exchange’ from FCW, going and superstars from FCW were brought up at the same time to take their places. Vince was oblivious to the missing roster depth as a result, yet TNA were growing as a rocketing pace.

We all remember, the late 20007, binary codes signaling the inevitable return of Chris Jericho to the WWE? After two years of being absent, well in a turn of events, Chris Jericho, still furious at the storyline in which he did get fired, backed out of the return storyline to the WWE and that is why there was a no-show by him at No Mercy, and all the IWC were expecting it with signs at hand. Jericho instead, did indeed move over to TNA to spite Vince McMahon. Along with a few other signings during 2008, we are going to take off from Slammiversary 2008, jumping about a year in time in which I will continue this BTB—The rosters, along with the improved Slammiversary results are featured below.

That looks great. Nice backstory also, I'll check out the first show and see how it go's.
Good luck, man.

Well, this is different I guess, and although this may seem picky, I see a lot of mistakes here. Whether it be The Dudley Boys not being Team 3D (legally they are unable to use the Dudley Boyz/Boys moniker and haven't in TNA anyway), Chris Jericho being pissed off about how he left the WWE (when it was his idea to go out that way) or Jim Cornette being the 'General Manager' (if TNA are trying to be different to WWE they should never copy them, even if just for the naming of authority positions), this doesn't seem like it's had a whole lot of work put into it. Regardless, I am interested to see things like title history and what you've done to really make the product different from the old TNA, as well as still different from WWE, so I'll continue to give this a look.

Good luck.

Just thought I'd reply to this, the previous title holders and PPV history, I had planned to give in a future post so don't worry about that. Along with that, on the first show, video packages, promos and commenating talk will explain things further. Things like, General Manager and Dudley Boys, to be honest I didn't notice, I was typing fast and I was used to calling them that' so it isn't a big thing, I'll edit it.

Other then that, the preview for the first show shouldn't be too long. Thanks for visiting.

| - | The Era of AJ! | - |

AJ Styles, has held all titles in TNA that there is to hold. He has been with Total Nonstop Action since day 1 and has held the standard high, breaking records, leaps and bounds and always out-doing himself. This past Sunday was no different, at the fifth annual 'Slammiversary' event, he managed to pull of an upset against the reigning champion at the time; Brock Lesnar. Brock, cockyness and all, underestimated the challenger, which led to his demise in the contest, his cocky taunts gave AJ the chance to nail a 'Pele' kick out of nowhere and to then finish off what was left of a weary Lesnar.

This week on TNA Impact, AJ will open the broadcast with a championship celebration like no other person can, and one can only assume that Brock will be in the building, in the back waiting for his chance to get his hands on him. What will go down on Impact? Will AJ's celebration go as planned or will Brock have something to say in it? Impact, is where it is going to go down.

| - | Tag Team Hierarchy? Whose next in line? | - |

TNA's Tag Team division is getting more exciting week by week, with some of the best teams around the globe competing for the same prize, the competition is getting heated. Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury, or as they like to be called - the Hollywood Hot Shots, {there is no melina so I can't call them, Mnm} lost last night against the near 20 time tag team champions, Team 3D. Team 3D are arguably the best duo to lace up the boots, but Nitro and Mercury wish to concur and to put that to the test. Wishing to regain thier gold.

The only problem, three other hungry teams going at them, and one of them wants them tonight for the right to face Team 3D at Victory Road, this week former champions in their own right, Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty, two men who know each other inside and out and have been around the block more then a couple of times, are going to go at it with Mercury and Nitro where Team 3D will be watching and scouting at commentary. Three teams, within metres from each other.... this may get out of hand at Impact.

~ AJ Celebrates like a true TNA Champion, he shall open the show with a ceremony
~ Chris Jericho vs. Ron Killings
~ Rikishi & Scotty 2 Hotty vs. Johnny Nitro & Joey Mercury | Winning team faces Team 3D at Victory Road
~ Chavo Guerrero vs. Jay Lethal | Not for Chavo's X DV Title

All past history, champions and even how the rivalries leading into the Slammiversary results happened in the first post will be explained throughout the first show. I understand that it is hard to comprehend what is going on here but the puzzle peices so to speak' shall all be put together as throughout the night, commentators talk about past events and video packages shall be shown so no need to fret'.

* Sorry about the double post *
