PatMan Presents: TNA 2006 - The New Face of Professional Wrestling
Total Nonstop Action Wrestling 2006 - The New Face of Professional Wrestling
Back in late 2005, TNA Wrestling was finally getting the exposure that it desperately needed. With numerous talented stars on its roster, both young and old, the wrestling company that had always taken a backseat to the WWE was finally showing the entire world just how great it could possibly be. Starting at the Unbreakable PPV, when AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Christopher Daniels put on the match of the year in professional wrestling, people began to notice the company. Two months later, TNA had a former WWE star show up at its Genesis PPV, that being the charismatic Christian Cage. Then things started to pick up, as the next month ‘The Icon’ Sting made his presence in TNA known, with his infamous black coat and bat being placed in the center of the ring at the close of the Turning Point PPV.
Then, at Final Resolution, Sting made his long anticipated return to professional wrestling, teaming with Christian Cage to take on Monty Brown and the reigning NWA World Champion Jeff Jarrett, with this being Sting’s first match in over two years. After that, TNA really got on a roll, with Christian Cage capturing the World Heavyweight Championship the next month at Against All Odds. And while the product continued to impress throughout the rest of 2006, it was obvious that TNA was moving away from what had given it so much potential.
Too many former WWE stars came into the company and TNA began to focus more on ridiculous storylines and gimmick matches instead of straight wrestling, exactly what had made it such a great alternative to WWE. But now we are going to go back to that historic PPV, Against All Odds, and history is going to be altered. Things will hopefully be different this time around, as TNA attempts to do the unthinkable and that’s compete on a regular basis with World Wrestling Entertainment, a company that hasn’t truly been challenged in over five years…
I’ll let this opening post set in, and the rosters, Against All Odds results and news/notes will follow shortly.

I'm not familiar with your work but I know that you've had a fair few threads during your time here, so hopefully this turns out to be one that you can really make an impact with. I'm all clued up in terms of what's going down in this time-period, so hopefully you can make me a regular reader. I'll be checking out the first show.
Good luck!

Re: PatMan Presents: TNA 2006 - The New Face of Professional Wrestling
Very intriguing backstory to say the least and it obviously gets me interested. TNA in '06 was a good year for the promotion itself so I'm happy that you've decided to book the company from this particular PPV event, Against All Odds. I'll definitely be checking out more, though.
Re: PatMan Presents: TNA 2006 - The New Face of Professional Wrestling
Hmm, interesting time to start from. I didn't mind the mohts following AAO, but Christian's title reign as a face was extremely disappointing, so hopefully you can rectify that. I'm really looking forward to seeing where you go with this, so hopefully this is the one to stick. Good luck.
Re: PatMan Presents: TNA 2006 - The New Face of Professional Wrestling
I remember I started watching TNA in 2006 so this could be really interesting, man. I'm not sure if I remember the full rosters (or the ppv results) so can't wait for you to let us know em! Good luck with this.
Re: PatMan Presents: TNA 2006 - The New Face of Professional Wrestling
Delighted you're back Pat. It's seriously been too long. TNA at this point was at a crossroads of sorts, and imo, ended up taking the wrong path with the influx of 'names', pushing out the actual talent. I've never been overly familiar with TNA, but I caught enough of it in '05 to know what was going on, so I'll be able to follow the product easily enough
Re: PatMan Presents: TNA 2006 - The New Face of Professional Wrestling
Looks good, Pat, you've been advertising this for a while so cool that it's up now. TNA was doing well at this time and hopefully you can keep the company on the right road, so best of luck.
Re: PatMan Presents: TNA 2006 - The New Face of Professional Wrestling
A good period to start from because match quality hasn't been the same (but it is picking up) since Russo took the book in October. Hopefully, you don't have to resort in bringing names like Scott Steiner, and Kevin Nash, ugh! I will be looking forward to see you create new stars and how you use Cage as NWA World Champion. Good luck and I'll be following.
Re: PatMan Presents: TNA 2006 - The New Face of Professional Wrestling
Hey man, I've wanted you to be back for a long time, so to see that this is up, really puts a smile on my face. TNA is an interesting choice, so I really hope you can make this work, despite all the time you have to dedicate to school and what not. Good luck, man, and you know despite my laziness/business, I will make sure to keep up with this.
