Friday Night Smackdown
October 23rd. 2009 | Columbia, South Carolina
Welcome to Smackdown
The opening credits role, the crowd roars, the fireworks explode and Smackdown is under way albeit, a completely new Smackdown with a ton of new Superstars added to the mix. To start the show off is the man that holds power over each and every one of the, both new and old Superstars, the Smackdown general manager, Theodore Long. Teddy then states that he is very pleased with all the new additions to the Smackdown roster. He continued on to say that to show how happy he is to have them as a part of Smackdown, he’s going to give ten of them a chance of a lifetime and a chance to catapult themselves right up the ranks right away. Teddy informed the fans that tonight, there will be a ten man over the top rope battle royal between ten of Smackdown’s newest stars and the winner will face the Undertaker next week. He tells the former TNA stars not to get too excited though because the title will not be on the line but he says that the winner will gain something just as valuable if they defeat Undertaker, a place at the top of the ladder, instant respect and maybe even a shot at the world title at a later date.
Teddy then says goodnight to the fans, tells them to enjoy the show and goes to leave the ring but before he can exit the ring, the former world champion, CM Punk makes his way to the ring. Punk gets right to the point and asks Teddy what he thinks he’s doing. Punk asks Teddy how he can come out here and hand out an opportunity like this to those good for nothing TNA stars when at Hell In A Cell he lost his world title and there has been no talk about a rematch, which he rightfully deserves. Punk says that he gets that Teddy is trying to make the TNA stars feel at home, he gets that but he wont sit here and let Teddy alienate him. Teddy takes a second to think and then tells Punk that he’s right and Punk will get a rematch in two weeks time. Punk quickly asks Teddy why his rematch wont be tonight and Teddy tells him that his rematch wont be tonight because he already has a match scheduled tonight and his match is next.
After a second, Teddy Long exit’s the ring and Batista, Punk’s opponent, comes out with his music blaring. Punk looks a little annoyed that he has to face such a large advisory but he takes off his shirt and gets ready for a fight nonetheless. This match was more of a game of cat and mouse. Batista would go after Punk and Punk would do his best to stay away from Batista. Whenever Batista would get his hands on Punk, Punk would deliver some lethal kicks to Batista, keeping Batista from doing any real damage to Punk. The finish came when Punk decided he’d had enough and tried to leave but Batista tried to throw him back into the ring except Punk wasn’t going in without a fight, at least until the count of nine when he quickly got in the ring and Batista, who had just been knocked down by a huge kick to the head, didn’t make it back into the ring in time. Punk celebrated his cheap victory but Batista didn’t look like he was done, getting in the ring and in Punk’s face about the way he won. Batista started to push Punk but Punk didn’t want to get into an all out brawl, so he took the easy way out and left the ring.
Commercial Break
After the commercial, we go backstage to Teddy Long’s office. Teddy looks like he’s working on something when Dolph Ziggler waltzes is, without knocking. Dolph cuts to the chase and says that if Teddy is handing out title shots, he should be getting an Intercontinental Title match. Teddy looks extremely surprised by what Dolph just said and even stands up to give him his answer, which is a firm “No!” Teddy continued to tell Dolph that he has had numerous title opportunities and he’s lost every single one of them. Teddy said he should have stopped giving Dolph chances a long time ago but now, he is definitely not giving Dolph another chance. Teddy tells Dolph that if he’s ever going to get another title shot, he has to earn it like everyone else and he has to impress him too. Dolph cant believe what Teddy just told him. Dolph really and truly believes that he deserves another shot at the title but his look of confusion turns to anger as he storms out of Teddy’s office after telling Teddy that if he wants to be impressed, he should keep his eyes on the TV because he’ll impress him. Teddy tells Dolph not to do anything stupid but Dolph doesn’t listen.
The next match is between two huge, deranged men in Mike Knox and “The Big Red Machine”, Kane. This match wasn’t technically sound, it wasn’t a quick and exciting, high flying spectacle, it was simply a brutal brawl. Kane and Knox simply beat the snot out of each other in this match, with neither of them giving the other ground, they just stood and threw punches and kicks. The finish came when Kane got the upper hand in the brawl and started to fight Knox to the corner. Knox, seeing that he was losing the fight, gave Kane a thumb to the eye. While Kane was nursing his eye, Knox charged him and went for a bicycle kick but Kane got out of the way just in time and as soon as Knox turned around, he got caught with a big chokeslam and that was enough to get him the win.
As Kane was celebrating his win, Dolph Ziggler’s music hit but Dolph was no where to be seen. Kane waiting for Dolph to come out, not knowing exactly why he would be coming out. While Kane was distracted by Dolph’s music, Dolph came threw the crowd with a chair and nailed Kane over the back with it, dropping him to his knees. Dolph walked around to the front of Kane and smoked him over the head, putting him down on the canvas. Dolph wasn’t done yet as he nailed Kane on the back and the back of the neck with the chair over and over and over and over again while he was down. After about seven chair shots, Dolph threw the bent chair down on Kane and screamed into the camera, “Are you impressed now!?” The crowd booed Dolph as he ran his hands threw his hair and flicked his fingers at Kane, before leaving.
Next we go backstage to a locker room that the new stars are sharing. Every Smackdown acquisition with the exception of Sting is in the locker room. They are all talking over each other, almost yelling at each other. After a second, a calm, cool and collected walks up to the front of the locker room with a steel chair in hand. He silently unfolds the chair and stands on it, so that each and every former TNA star can see him and he can see them. He doesn’t even have to say anything, everyone looks to him and quiets down. Young begins by telling the former TNA stars not to be fooled. He says that Teddy Long was anything but sincere with his words earlier tonight. Young says that some people might view this as an opportunity, but he views this as a way to get all of them out of the way at once and not only that, but to eliminate the best of them next week against the Undertaker. Young says that Teddy Long doesn’t want them there, plain and simple and if any of them think that he does, they are just falling into his trap.
Young tells them to be careful because Teddy WILL try to get rid of them all, it’s only a matter of time and if they were all smart, they’d stick together, Once TNA, Always TNA. Young hops off the chair and leaves the room and all the former TNA stars to really think about what was just said. It looks like some of them actually believe Young too, but the question remains, is he right?
Commercial Break
When we returned from the break, Mickie James made her way to the ring for a Diva’s tag match. Her partner was none other then the women formerly known as Victoria, Tara. Their opponents were the dangerous team of Beth Phoenix and Michelle McCool. This match got a fair amount of time and was much better then other women’s matches on weekly shows, but of course, it did feature four of the best women wrestlers in North America. Mickie and Tare worked pretty well together in this match but the Women’s Champion, Michelle McCool and Beth Phoenix didn’t work so well together. Michelle was always hesitant to tag in Beth and Beth looked like she was about to attack Michelle a few times, with the hunger for the Women’s title being too great. The finish of the match came when Beth and Michelle’s team finally imploded when Beth went for a clothesline on Tara but accidentally hit Michelle. After a few moments of Beth dominating Mickie and Tara while Michelle recovered from eating the Glamazon’s arm, Michelle got up, turned Beth around, kicked her in the gut and planted her with the Faith Breaker. Michelle then rolled out of the ring, grabbed the Women’s title and left as Tara climbed to the cover on Beth, scoring her and Mickie the win.
After the match, Mickie and Tara celebrated while Beth recovered from the Faith Breaker and stared a whole threw Michelle, who was standing at the top of the ramp, holding the women’s title close with a smirk on her face. Mickie pointed at Michelle and signalled that she wanted the Women’s title as we went to another commercial.
Commercial Break
After the break, none other then the Undisputed Tag Team Champions, Chris Jericho and the Big Show make their way to the ring. Jericho and Show both have their tag titles draped over their shoulders. Next, Jericho did something that all the fans should be thankful for, he picked up a microphone. Jericho, with an angry voice stated that he is the best in the world at what he does and naturally, he and Big Show are the most dominant tag team in the world today. Jericho says that the titles hanging off of them are proof of that. Jericho says that all of the hypocrites and parasites around the world might but they are only lying to themselves. Jericho says that the Dudley Boys are lying to themselves too. Jericho says on Tuesday he and Big Show graced ECW with their presences but rather then getting the respect their deserve they were insulted and attacked by those pea brained imbeciles, Team 3D.
Jericho continues to say that the Dudley’s stuck their noses where they didn’t belong and if they aren’t careful, they will get them broken. Before Jericho can say anything else, Team 3D themselves make their way down to the ring. Bubba gets on the mic and says that that almost sounded like a threat by Jericho, but he knows it couldn’t have been, because Jericho is a coward. Bubba says that he gets it though, it was a threat but Jericho only said it because he didn’t know they were here tonight. Bubba says that they are here though and he’d like to hear Jericho say that again to their faces.
Jericho calmly tells Bubba that Bubba had better be careful what he wishes for because when he makes a threat, he backs it up. Jericho says that Bubba isn’t worth it though. Jericho says that he is the best in the world, Big Show is the world’s largest athlete and together they are not only the greatest tag team today but they are also the unified tag team champions. Bubba says that Jericho could be all those things but to him, Jericho just looks like a big mouth, little runt who doesn’t know when to shut up. Before Jericho can respond, Bubba says that he and D-Von shut him up on ECW and they’d have no problem doing it again, right here tonight.
Jericho says that he sees what Bubba is trying to do but Jericho says he’s too smart. Jericho says that he isn’t going to waste his time with them. Jericho says that they are nothing more then tapeworms. Jericho says that if Bubba is so eager for a fight though, how about he takes on the worlds largest athlete, the Big Show, right here, right now. Bubba accepts and says that this is typical Jericho, hiding behind someone else.
It isn’t long before the match begins. Jericho and D-Von both stay at ringside, supporting their partners. Big Show was vicious in this match, throwing Bubba around like a rag doll and all Bubba can really do is hope Show makes a mistake. Lucky for Bubba that Show did eventually make a mistake as he decided to taunt the crowd a little bit after he had already put Bubba down but Show overestimated himself and Bubba got up sooner then Show expected and clipped his leg from behind. After that, the match was fairly even with Bubba trying to keep Show on his knees or on the ground at all times, after all, Show isn’t taller then Bubba like that.
Bubba eventually got a head of steam and attacked Show with a flurry of punches and clotheslined him out of the ring but seemingly hurt his arm while doing so. While the ref checked on Bubba, D-Von moved away from Show but when the ref turned around, he thought D-Von was trying to pull something so he immediately ejected him from ringside. Bubba was furious with this and Big Show took advantage of the distraction, gaining the upper hand again. Bubba did get control of the match again later on but just as it looked like he was going to put Show away, Jericho tripped Bubba up from the outside and Bubba fell into a brutal chokeslam from Big Show, for the 1,2,3.
After the match, Jericho got in the ring and instructed Big Show to hold Bubba up. While Show held the defenceless Bubba’s arms, Jericho slapped him in the face and told him that he is nothing, he is no match for him and he’d better mind his own business. D-Von had seen enough though as he charged the ring with a steel chair in hand. D-Von wasn’t quick enough though as Jericho and Show escaped the ring. D-Von wasn’t too concerned though, he just wanted to get them off his brother.
Commercial Break
Next up was our main event between the newest stars to Smackdown by way of TNA Wrestling. This match was of course an over the top battle royal with the winner facing off one-on-one against The Undertaker next week in a non-title match. The match was between Beer Money, Bobby Lashley, Sting, Eric Young, Matt Morgan, Abyss, Dr. Stevie and The Motor City Machine Guns. Obviously The Guns and Beer Money mostly stuck together in this match. Abyss and Lashley, being the two largest men in the match were targeted a lot of the time but they also dominated the match a lot. Surprisingly the first man out was Eric Young, who didn’t get eliminated the way you’d think, he actually hopped over the top rope and jumped off the apron, eliminating himself on purpose.
The next man out was Dr. Stevie who got eliminated by his long time rival, Abyss. Abyss was the next man out though, when Dr. Stevie wouldn’t leave ringside and was distracting Abyss, which allowed the Guns to put Abyss over the top rope. Just as The Guns eliminated Abyss, they were eliminated by Bobby Lashley and a double clothesline, taking them both out of the ring at the same time. By that time, half the participants were gone with only Beer Money, Lashley, Sting and Morgan remaining. Robert Roode was the next man to be eliminated and he got throw out by Matt Morgan. Morgan and Storm were later eliminated too, which left only Sting and Bobby Lashley in the ring, the winner getting a non-title match against The Undertaker next week, which is actually more valuable then it sounds.
Sting and Lashley slugged it out, neither man wanting to lose their first match on Smackdown (Or in Lashley’s case, his first match back.) Lashley eventually got Sting over the top rope with a decapitating clothesline. After the match, while Lashley celebrated in the ring, the lights went out and when they came back on, The Undertaker stood at the top of the ramp. He was wearing his black jacket, his hat and the world title around his waist. He had his head down so you couldn’t see his eyes but as the lights flickered, he slowly looked up, rolled his eyes and made the cut throat sign before the lights went back out and he disappeared. The show went off the air with Lashley looking on in amazement and possibly…fear.
I'll be honest, I'm not good with reviewing recapped shows, but if nothing else I can comment on the feuds you're setting up.
It's good that Long is giving the TNA stars a chance to shine. I would expect someone is going to interrupt him, otherwise you would've just had it announced before the show. Based on your preview, I was expecting a TNA person to interrupt, but also based on your preview, Punk didn't surprise me. Yeah, what he said sounded just like him, he deserves a title shot and whatnot.
I'm guessing Punk won't be winning in two weeks, cause you're starting him up in a Batista feud. Fair enough, should be good. You wouldn't want to give this match away for free, so well done for not letting the contest end with a pin or submission.
Ooh, good stuff, hopefully you have Ziggler attack someone and start up a good feud. Btw, nice to see Teddy laying down the law, gives him more credibility.
While the match would've been really poor, it was the perfect chance for Ziggler to make an impression. Nice job, normally I wouldn't think Ziggler could take on Kane, but the attack gives him enough credibility, and also it gives Kane some direction, so thanks for that.
'After a second, a calm, cool and collected walks up to the front of the locker room' this didn't make sense. :/ Oh, liking the clear line drawn between TNA and WWE here, possible war in the works, with Young as a possible leader. I confess, my TNA knowledge is patchy, but I know a bit, so a TNA vs WWE thing would be interesting, definitely.
Thanks for clearing up who Tara was. Nice to see her back, as a face I'm guessing. Ooh, tension between Beth and Michelle, I would hope you'd turn one of them face or have a Triple Threat/Fatal Four-Way for the title. Nice storyline, good choice of women, as you said, four of the best in North America.
Jericho, whether the promo was in full or not, was spot on, because what he said was what he would say. Simple. Nice job here, and that's a great feud you've got going there. Nice match, I enjoyed it. Good job.
Young eliminating himself is interesting, you've got me hooked with that, cause why the hell did he do it? I guess it's one of those 'tune in next week' jobs. Well done actually, now I really want to know... :P The Battle Royal followed the usual template, bigger stars eliminating smaller ones - Lashley wins, great, that'll make for a good match next week. Undertaker's appearance I would expect, but then again, had you not done it, it would've been odd, cause 'Taker would always appear in this kind of situation.
Overall, it made for a fun read, The Rated-R. Sorry I didn't have more to say, it's a bit difficult when the show is in recap. Still, the feuds you've made look good, and I enjoyed this show. Well done. 8/10
Well I figure since I’ve done a week in BTB time, I’d write a news and notes thing, which I will probably do at the end of every week, if I have anything good to say.
News and Notes
~ With the acquisition of TNA Wrestling and the fusion of it’s roster into WWE’s three brands, the brands have been left a little “crowded” despite WWE releasing nearly 35 superstars and Diva’s from both TNA and WWE. It seems as though there will be some more Superstars and Diva’s getting released in the coming months though. A few TNA stars have seemingly only been brought in to do one storyline and then they will be leaving and others are on a “trial” to see how they fair in WWE. Some WWE Superstars seem to be nervous backstage too with fear of losing their spot if a TNA star can do what they do better. One thing that we can confirm at this time is that the rosters will be thinned out even more in the coming months.
~ The decision to do away with all of TNA Wrestling’s former title belts came as a last moment decision. When WWE first purchased TNA Wrestling, it was believed that all the champions would keep their belts when they showed up on WWE Television and the champions would eventually feud with their equals in WWE’s Champion’s list but WWE didn’t want to have a whole PPV card full of “unification matches” and the didn’t want to have 14 titles on the go either. Although some feuds have remained despite the TNA Champions losing their belts such as Styles/Orton and Team 3D/Jerishow, which had been planned to be unification feuds.
~ Although we have reported that WWE is looking to thin out their roster, it seems as though not everyone that was announced as “released” has been released. It seems as though WWE has “released” a few WWE names so they can move them to another brand without any storyline but they have been resigned. We don’t know how many of the Superstars have been kept, who they are or when they’ll return but we are certain that not everyone on the list has been released.
Writers Note: With that being said, I am glad to be done my first week of booking (BTB Time) which isn’t always a point I reach with new BTBs but like I’ve said several times, this recapping really helps me stay interested. Speaking of the recapping, I think I’ll be going back to full shows after Survivor Series. I’m not 100% sure yet because like I just said, the recaps keep me interested but it seems like no one wants to really comment on the recaps and although reviews aren’t everything, I would like to improve. I think after Survivor Series would be a good place to start full shows because I would be far enough into my own storylines and my owns ideas that I think I would stay interested anyways. Like I said, no 100% sure, but hey, Survivor Series probably wont be posted for a loooong time.
Okay, this has really caught my attention actually. I like the concept of WWE purchasing TNA, and the backstory makes it seem realistic. I've read the first four shows and I'm impressed and really caught up, and I can't wait to read next week's shows. I'm especially curious about the Styles/orton feud, and I hope you'll do great in that one cause it deserves to be no less than great.
I'll keep reading, and I'll start reviewing as of next show
You Want Some? Come Get Some!
After John Cena was brutally beaten down last week by all five members of The Main Event Mafia -- who made their returns last week in a big way by taking out Cena and Vince McMahon -- It has been announced that John Cena will open the show by calling out The Main Event Mafia or to be more exact, The Main Event Mafia’s leader, Kurt Angle. What will happen when Cena and Angle get face to face? Will it end with The Mafia beating Cena down again or will Cena get a little bit of payback?
Making A Name
Last week The Super Mexican, Hernandez made his debut against none other then the United States Champion, The Miz. After some uncalled for comments by The Miz, Hernandez showed him what he was made of when he not only took the champ to the limit, but also pinned the United States Champion. Although nothing has been confirmed, it is largely believed that Hernandez will be getting a United States Title match tonight. Will Hernandez win the US Title on only his second night in the WWE? Or will The Miz step up and show him why he is the United States Champion to begin with?
Awesome Debut
Last week we saw that debut of many former TNA stars but one that really stood out was the gigantic women known as Awesome Kong. She made an Impact in a huge way by going right for the top dog, the Diva’s Champion, Melina, on her first night. Melina was said to be furious after getting brutally attacked for no particular reason and she has also been heard saying that she will deal with Kong next week. What will happen if Melina gets his hands on Kong? Will Kong end up like Melina did last week or will Melina have a repeat of last week?
All this and more tonight on Monday Night Raw!
Confirmed Matches
Chris Masters w/Carlito versus The Amazing Red
Kelly Kelly and Taylor Wilde versus Velvet Sky and ???
Christopher Daniels versus Chavo Guerrero

Paybacks a Bitch
The fireworks explode, “To Be Loved” by Papa Roach blares through the speakers and the fans are on their feet as Jerry “The King” Lawler and his broadcast partner Michael Cole welcome us to the show. They run down some of last weeks happenings such as several TNA Superstars joining the Raw roster and The Main Event Mafia taking out both Vince McMahon and John Cena. Speaking of John Cena, he is opening the show tonight. Cena comes out to a huge pop and is still selling the 5-on-1 beat down from the Main Event Mafia last week. Cena isn’t his usual happy self, he looks serious.
Cena gets in the ring, slowly and painfully and gets on the mic. Cena says that he knows what its like to show up and want to make an impact right off the bat and last week, that is exactly what The Main Event Mafia did. John reminds all the fans that last week, The Mafia took him out and they took out Vince McMahon, who probably has a broken ankle. John says that Vince will probably be gone for awhile but John tells them that he is right here and he is not taking them lying down. With that being said, John went from serious to angry. John says that he knows Kurt Angle is the leader, he knows that Kurt makes the decisions and is behind every single move that The Mafia makes. Cena jokes that The Mafia probably doesn’t even eat unless Kurt Angle approves it. John says that is why he is calling Kurt Angle out, right here, right now. John takes off his hat, his shirt and he gets ready for Kurt to come out.
After a few seconds of waiting, it looks like Angle isn’t coming out. Cena gets back on the mic and attempts to egg Kurt on by calling Kurt Angle a coward, he says that last week Kurt managed to beat up a 64 year old man and jump him from behind with four other guys. Cena says that last week Kurt wanted to fight, this week, he does and if Kurt isn’t going to bring the fight to him, he’ll bring the fight to Kurt. John goes to leave the ring but Kurt’s music hits and he finally comes out. Cena looks a little surprised as he goes back to where he was previously standing. Cena looks even more surprised that Kurt Angle is alone. There is no Main Event Mafia in sight. Angle gets in the ring and grabs a mic of his own. Kurt says that John is stupid. Kurt asks Cena if he really thinks that he’s afraid of him. Kurt reminds Cena that he’s an Olympic gold medalist and he isn’t afraid of anyone because he is the best in the business.
Cena simply tells Kurt to “Prove it.” Kurt gets a good little chuckle out of that and tells Cena that he got to where he is today by not only being the best, but by also being the smartest. Kurt says that is exactly what he was last week, smart. Kurt says that he knows he could beat Cena one-on-one…but Kurt says he also knows he doesn’t have to beat John one-on-one. Kurt says that he’s too smart to waste his time and energy fighting John and that’s where the Main Event Mafia come in. Angle says that last week they did exactly what he said they’d do and that’s show everyone that Monday Night Raw is Main Event Mafia property, not the other way around. Kurt says that in one fell swoop they took out the chairmen of the WWE and the face of the WWE. Kurt gets down to business though and tells John that he should watch what he says, watch what he does and cut the crap with calling him out because last week they beat him down and at the snap of his fingers, it could happen again and it could be a lot worse.
John looks a little surprised by Kurt’s threat and pretends to be scared. John tells Kurt that the rest of the Main Event Mafia isn’t here right now and he asks Kurt what stops him from tearing Kurt limb from limb right here, right NOW!? Kurt simply stands there and smirks. Kurt says that he gave Cena fair warning, he told him to watch what he says and he didn’t listen so now, he’ll answer Cena’s question with an action. Angle calmly says “C’mon out boys.” With that being said, Booker T, Scott Steiner, Kevin Nash and Samoa Joe come out of the four corners of the crowd and surround the ring. John isn’t about to run from this fight though as he prepares to take on all five members of the Mafia. Booker, Scott, Kevin and Joe slowly get in the ring by John isn’t waiting for them to attack as he leaps at Kurt, taking him down and hitting him with about three hard shots before the other members of The Mafia get on him.
Booker and Scott grab an arm of Cena each and pull him off of Kurt. Cena is fighting with all he’s got but Scott and Booker are no average security members and Cena isn’t breaking away from them. Nash gives Cena a kick to the midsection, taking some fight out of him. Joe helps Angle up and Angle checks his lip for any blood before getting in Cena’s face and telling him that he was warned and now there will be consequences. Kurt slaps John across the face. Kurt then grabs John’s head as Scott and Book still hold his arms and Kurt starts to pound the holy hell out of him. John is defenceless as Joe, Nash and Kurt take turns beating his face in.
The cavalry finally arrives though as “Break it down” can be heard through the speakers and D-Generation X, Triple H and Shawn Michaels along with MVP and Mark Henry rush the ring and start a huge 10 man brawl. The fight is taking place inside and outside the ring with MVP and Kevin Nash battling it out outside the ring, Samoa Joe and Mark Henry slugging it out in a corner of the ring, Booker and Shawn throwing some fists at each other near the announce tables, Triple H and Steiner taking it to each other in the ring and Cena fighting Angle inside the ring as well. Some security rushes to the scene of the brawl and tries to break it up but they are quickly disposed of. The new Raw General Manager, Mick Foley comes to the top of the ramp and sends out more security and yells into a microphone to stop! With the combination of about 18 security members and the Raw general managers orders, the brawls finally break up.
Foley is clearly pissed off as he yells at the ten men that he has been here a week and he’s already had enough! Mick says that Mafia has only been here a week too and they’ve already managed to cause chaos! Mick says that the ten of them obviously don’t like each other. Mick says that he was already going to make this match by order of Vince McMahon but after seeing what he just saw, there is no doubt in his mind it’s the right decision. Foley continues to say that at Survivor Series it will be Team Raw, consisting of John Cena, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, MVP and Mark Henry facing off against Team Main Event Mafia which will obviously consist of Kurt Angle, Booker T, Scott Steiner, Kevin Nash and Samoa Joe! Foley says as for these huge brawls, there had better not be anymore of them or he will FIRE whoever starts it on the spot! Foley says that since Kurt is so confident in his ability and he clearly wants to fight, how about Kurt Angle facing off one-on-one against…JOHN CENA right here tonight! Kurt looks pretty pissed off at Mick’s decision but John couldn’t be happier and neither could the crowd. Foley makes his way back to the back as we go to commercial.
Commercial Break
When we return from the commercial, it is time for the first match of the night and it will be between Chris Masters and The Amazing Red, a new star to Monday Night’s from TNA. Surprisingly, Chris Masters is accompanied to the ring by Carlito. Of course, Chris accompanied Chris to the ring last week on Superstars from Carlito’s match against Evan Bourne. In this match, Chris Masters displays his strength and aggression by tossing Red around the ring like he’s nothing. Of course, Chris could only do that when he actually got his hands on Red, which wasn’t too often. Red often tried to hit Chris and get out of there before Chris could get his hands on him. The finish of the match came when it looked like Red was getting the upper hand and could possibly pick up the win.
Red made it to the top rope and looked like he was about to hit the Infrared (540 corkscrew senton) on the downed Chris Masters but Carlito got up on the apron and distracted Red, who jumped off the apron to tell Carlito off. While Red was distracted, Chris made it to his feet and snapped in the Master Lock. Chris viciously snapped Red back and forth, back and forth, trying to shake and squeeze the life out of Red. Red tried his best to escape the hold, pushing off the turnbuckles with his feet and getting his legs in the ropes but Chris would pull him away when he did that and Chris never let go. Eventually, Red couldn’t fight anymore and after the referee lifted and dropped Red’s arm three times, it was all over, Chris was the winner via submission.
Chris wasn’t done there though as he continued to shake Red with the Master Lock despite already winning the match. Carlito got in the ring and Chris pushed Red to the floor just so he and Carlito could put the boot to the defenceless Amazing Red. After about seven seconds of assault, the man that Carlito and Chris beat down on Superstars, Evan Bourne sprinted to the ring. Bourne tried his best to take on both Carlito and Chris and save Red from the same fate he suffered last week on Superstars. Bourne couldn’t take down both Carlito and Masters though but it didn’t matter as he gave Red enough time to recover. Red and Bourne together were enough to fight off Carlito and Masters. They hit them with some quick, synchronized kicks before whipping them off the ropes at the same time and giving them a hurracarrana each to the outside. Red thanked Bourne for the save as Carlito and Chris looked pissed off with their failure.
We then go backstage to the interview area. Todd Grisham introduces himself and his guest, Awesome Kong. Todd gets right to his first question and asks Kong why she attacked Melina last week. Kong just stands there wit her back straight, her arms crossed and her chin up. She doesn’t move or say a thing but after a second…Vickie Guerrero steps on screen?! The crowd instantly erupts in boos and Todd Grisham looks a little surprised by Vickie showing up. Vickie explains herself saying that Awesome Kong is her newest associate. She informs the WWE Universe that lucky for them, she’ll be pulling double duty from now on both Raw and Smackdown. She says that on Raw, she’ll help Awesome Kong take over and on Smackdown, she’ll help her boyfriend, Eric Escobar make it to the top.
Vickie says as for Todd’s question, Kong attacked Melina last week to prove a point. Vickie says that Awesome Kong is the most dominant women in the history of professional wrestling and what better way to prove that to the world then by taking out the Diva’s Champion on her first night. Vickie informs Todd and the fans that in TNA, Kong was a force to be reckoned with and she destroyed every women who got in her way and she will do the exact same thing here on Monday Night Raw. Vickie looks quite satisfied with herself and Kong is still showing no emotion as Melina walks on screen! Melina gets right in Kong’s face and says that she doesn’t know who Kong thinks she is (Melina) but she isn’t going to just run and hide from her. Melina says that Kong might have destroyed everyone on the TNA roster but this isn’t TNA, this is WWE and things are going to be different here.
Melina says that she understands Kong is big, strong and dangerous but Melina says she’s dangerous too. Melina says that if Kong wants to come after the top dog, that’s fine but she should think about doing it the right way, face to face, in the ring. Melina cockily tells Kong not to get her hopes up though because she is Diva’s Champion for a reason. Kong finally shows some emotion, the emotion being anger. Kong tries to get her hands on Melina but Vickie gets in between them and tells Kong that now isn’t the time. Melina has a smirk on her face as she waves goodbye to Kong and backs off screen.
Commercial Break
When we come back from the commercial, its time for some Diva’s action. Out first is the team of Kelly Kelly and Taylor Wilde, the spunky, fast faced blondes. Out next is Velvet Sky who doesn’t look very happy at all. After several seconds of delay for Velvet’s partners music….MARYSE’S music hits! Maryse has returned to Monday Night Raw, finally. Maryse and Velvet work very well together in this match by isolating Kelly, cutting the ring in half and making frequent tags in and out to keep each other as fresh as possible. Eventually, Kelly gets a second wind and fights off Velvet who was the legal woman at the time. Kelly managed to tag in Taylor Wilde who came in with a head of steam and cleaned house. The numbers eventually caught up to Taylor though and Kelly was still too beat up to help her. Velvet and Maryse won the match with a double team move that the announcers said Velvet used with a partner in TNA, The Makeover.
After the match, Velvet got on the mic. Velvet said that when she arrived at Raw last week, she was appalled when she walked into the Diva’s dressing room, there were ugly chicks as far as the eye could see. Velvet says that she’s never felt so alone as the only attractive person in the room. Velvet says that she was prepared for the same horror when she arrived to Raw this week but to her surprise when she walked into the dressing room, she saw someone as hot as her, Maryse. Velvet says that back in TNA she used to be in a group called The Beautiful People, Velvet introduces the new Beautiful People, Maryse and Velvet Sky and they are going to cleanse the Raw Diva’s locker room, one ugly chick at a time.
Commercial Break
When we return from the break, AJ Styles makes his way out to the ring. AJ grabs a mic and gets right down to business. AJ says last week he saw what kind of man Randy Orton is, he saw what kind of champion Randy Orton is too. AJ says that Randy is the kind of champion who would rather hide behind his buddies then face a challenge head on. AJ says that Randy is the kind of champion who attacks people from behind and is happier resting on his morals then trying to be the best that he can be. Styles says that a real champion, fights like a man, face-to-face and that’s why he’s calling Randy out. Randy Orton comes out right away with the WWE Title over his shoulder and Ted and Cody just behind him.
Legacy gets in the ring and Randy grabs a mic. Randy says that AJ is in no position to be questioning whether or not he’s a real champion. Randy says that if anyone isn’t a real champion, its AJ Styles. Randy says that AJ has this delusion that he is still the TNA World Champion, but he isn’t. Randy says that’s why AJ isn’t a real champion. AJ says that he’d like to do something about that. Randy looks extremely surprised by what AJ just said. Randy asks AJ who the hell he thinks he is. Before AJ can answer, Randy says that he is nobody! Randy says that AJ hasn’t earned a thing and he certainly hasn’t earned a shot at the WWE Championship! AJ tells Randy that is why he’s here though, to prove that he is worth something, to prove that he deserves everything this business has to offer and to prove he’s the best. AJ says as for Randy’s question of who he thinks he is, AJ says that he thinks he’s the man that would take the WWE Title from Randy if given the opportunity.
Randy once again looks surprised by AJ’s threat. Randy says that AJ must be even more delusional then he thought but he’s feeling generous tonight so how about if AJ can defeat Ted DiBiase right here, right now, he’ll consider, MAYBE giving AJ a shot at the WWE Title. AJ says that’s all he’s asking for. With that being said, the fight is on as Ted jumps AJ from behind when AJ turns to set his mic down in a corner. A ref sprints to the ring and rings the bell and the fight is on.
This was a fairly even match with AJ almost getting the win on Ted a few times and Ted almost pinning AJ on several occasions. Neither man is much bigger or much stronger then the other but Styles is definitely quicker and more athletic and he used that to his advantage. AJ eventually won the match with the Styles Clash although it wasn’t easy with Cody and Randy both distracting AJ on several occasions. After the match was over, Cody helped Ted out of the ring on one side and while that was happening, Randy snuck in behind AJ, spun him around and dropped him on his head with another RKO! Randy stood over AJ, with a cold, emotionless look on his face as the camera goes backstage.
When we get backstage, we are in Mick Foley’s office. Mick is sitting in his chair and spinning around. The Miz walks in after a second. The Miz has the United States Championship draped over his shoulder and he reminds Mick that he wanted to see him. Foley says that he did want to see The Miz. Foley says that last week, Hernandez beat The Miz fair and square in a non-title match last week so he thinks its only fair that Hernandez gets a title match this week. Miz cant believe what he’s hearing. Miz says that Mick must be crazy, well he knows he’s crazy but he must be freakin’ insane! Miz says that the fumes from Mick’s disgusting shirt must be getting to him because anyone with two brain cells could see that last week Hernandez got LUCKY! Miz says that before last week, he’d never even heard of Hernandez so how does Mick expect him to prepare for him? Mick says that he’ll give Miz the benefit of the doubt and make Miz versus Hernandez tonight in another non-title match but if Hernandez wins tonight, he WILL get a title shot next week.
Commercial Break
When we return from the break, it’s time for the match that was just announced, The Miz versus Hernandez in a non-title match. Much the same as last week, Miz just tries to stay away from Hernandez. Hernandez gets his hands on Miz several times in this match but Miz always just gets away before Hernandez can do any real damage. Miz tries to cheat several times by putting his feet on the ropes for a pin or poking Hernandez in the eye but the cheating quickly stops when the referee threatens to disqualify Miz which would of course give Hernandez a title shot next week. Miz does cheat one more time in this match though but he is extremely careful. He takes the turnbuckle padding off of a top turnbuckle and when Hernandez rushes him, Miz hit’s a drop toehold, bouncing Hernandez’s head off the steel. Hernandez would stumble backwards into a Skull Crushing Finale which got Miz the 1,2,3.
When Hernandez came to he looked extremely disappointed with his loss and a little pissed off. Miz on the other hand looked as happy as could be as he celebrated with his United States Title which he will not have to defend next week. We see The Miz pose with the US Title at the top of the ramp as we go backstage.
Backstage, we see Kofi Kingston walking around, minding his own business and getting himself a cup of coffee when out of nowhere, he is JUMPED from behind by…Homicide!? Homicide, who’s never even met Kofi before, brutally attacks him. Homicide hits him with a flurry of closed fists before standing up and kicking the holy hell out of him. Homicide dumps the catering table over on Kofi before leaving him there in a heap.
Commercial Break
When we come back from the break, it is time for the fifth match of the evening and it is between Christopher Daniels and Chavo Guerrero. These two cruiserweights went out there and had a nice, exciting fast paced match up that really showed what Chris and Chavo could do. The match didn’t get much time though with it only getting about five minutes. Daniels controlled the majority of the match up but of course he did, because there is no way Chavo controls the match after having jobbed to Hornswoggle not to long ago. Daniels eventually picks up the win with the Best Moonsault Ever.
Backstage we see Mick in his office. He is sniffing at his shirt and telling himself it doesn’t smell. Jack Swagger comes in, not bothering to knock and he does not look happy. Swagger says that he and Mick haven’t met yet but he’s the All-American American. Mick sticks his hand out to great Jack but Jack just looks at Mick’s hand and then continues to talk. Swagger says that he knows Mick is just getting back to Raw and he’s been out of the loop for awhile so he’ll let Mick in on a little secret and that is…Jack Swagger is a big deal around here. Swagger says that Mick hasn’t used him at all in the past two weeks. Mick apologizes and says that he didn’t know Jack was such a big deal, honestly, he didn’t even know who Jack was. Mick says that he’ll make sure Jack gets used next week. Jack says not to let it happen again before walking off. Mick mumbles to himself that he “Kinda likes that guy.”
Commercial Break
After the break, it is time for our Main Event of the night and that is of course a one-on-one match between John Cena and Kurt Angle. This is an awesome match between these two world class athletes. Cena shows his strength, his power and his intensity in this match and Angle shows his speed, agility and straight up skill in this match. They go toe-to-toe with each other for a solid ten minutes and by that point, neither man can put the other away. Angle even hit’s the Angle slam on Cena but Cena gets his foot on the ropes. Angle also applies the Ankle Lock but Cena refuses to tap. Angle gets extremely frustrated when he cant put Cena away and decides that he’d had enough so as Cena nurses his ankle, Angle got out of the ring and grabbed a chair. The referee tried to pull it away from Angle but Angle smoked Cena over the head with the chair anyways, just as Cena was getting up. The referee disqualified Angle instantly but it didn’t matter.
Angle continued to beat Cena with the chair like an animal. Angle slammed the chair over Cena’s back several times as Cena cried out in pain. Surprisingly there was no DX or World’s Strongest Tag Team to make the save. There was no Main Event Mafia to assist in the beat down either. The announcers reminded us of the reason for that which is, if a huge brawl breaks out, the man who starts it will be fired. Nobody wants to risk their job so no one comes out which allows Angle to beat the holy hell out of Cena. Finally some security come out and pull Angle off of Cena. The show goes off the air with Cena laying there in a heap and Angle screaming at him that he was warned.

Just a suggestion to improve on your recap style, which doesn't bother me in the slightest. I would only suggest that you separate or title your matches from the other stuff maybe something like this
announcers talking
Match 1: Evan Bourne vs Carlito
and maybe put something similar at the end of the matches such as
match action. pinfall
Winner: Evan Bourne
just as a way to keep your matches from being completely paragraph form and indistinguishable from everything else. Just a small suggestion otherwise I love it. I'm glad that you put Sting on the same brand with Undertaker, do I smell the greatest dream feud ever coming?

Opening segment:Really well written segment here. It’s perfectly in Cena’s character to start off the show after what happened last week, and you seem to manage to keep both Cena and Angle in character in a great way. Cena trying to fight off the Mafia is believable, and great that you didn’t make the mistake of making it sound like Cena stood his ground against all five. Foley’s announcement for Survivor Series sounds like an awesome match, and looking forward to Cena vs. Angle later on tonight.
Masters/Red:Typically match between a high flyer and a power wrestler, but you pulled it off good. Red seemed to get in some good offense, but of course Carlito causes a distraction and when Masters locked in the Masterlock, Red was obviously done. Good opening match, and the aftermatch with Bourne saving Red was great, and hopefully this sets up what could be an interesting tag team match with these four superstars.
Awesome Kong interview:Okay… Pretty surprising but kind of interesting angle with Vicki “helping” Awesome Kong. Melina getting in the face of Kong sounds like something Melina would do, but I don’t see Melina being able to fight off Kong. Maybe someway somehow if it gets to a Diva’s title match, but I see Kong destroying Melina in single’s non-title competition.
Kelly/Taylor vs. Velvet/Maryse:Good match, and great way to introduce Velvet Sky and Maryse as the new Beautiful People. Kind of saw it coming when I saw the match announced on the preview with Velvet Sky having a mystery partner, but didn’t see it coming as far as Maryse being the partner. Good win for them.
Styles segment:Once again a great segment with the superstars in character. I think you’re doing a great job by doing this “is AJ a real champion or not”-storyline. It impresses me and I hope it continues to do that.
Styles vs. DiBiase:Good match with an obvious ending. Good that you didn’t make any of them look weak, and Orton dropping AJ with an RKO once again like last week is good build up. Can’t wait for this one to develop.
Foley/Miz segment:Again a good segment here, and I actually caught myself thinking that it is too early to give Hernandez a United States title shot no matter how dominant he were last week or in TNA. So I’m glad you’re post posting that one, and I actually think that even if Hernandez beats Miz tonight and you‘re planning on making him the new United States Champion, Hernandez shouldn’t become champion until Survivor Series.
Miz vs. Hernandez:Again a well written match with the superstars in character. And I have to say that no matter how much I dislike The Miz, I think it was the right decision to give Miz the win as long as he got it on a DQ or count out. This means that Miz won’t have to defend his title on RAW. Hopefully, as I mentioned before, Hernandez will earn a title shot at Survivor Series.
Kofi segment:This surprised me a bit, but again great booking/writing. Homicide putting himself over as a heel and Kofi being his victim of choice, could lead up to some great matches.
Daniels vs. Chavo:Just a match to fill some space out in my opinion, and of course to give Daniels a welcome victory. Smart booking.
Foley/Swagger segment:A good way to have Foley meet Swagger, and Swagger was in character all throughout the segment. Foley has something for Swagger next week?? Sounds good.
Angle vs. Cena:Sounded like an awesome match, and it had to be when it was the proclaimed “Superman” against the only Olympic Gold Medalist in Sports Entertainment history. A match I wouldn’t mind watching in real life again. Bt it sounded like Angle had the most offense as you mention an Angle Slam and the Ankle Lock, but no mentioning of neither an STF or the Attitude Adjustment. Angle using a chair in the end was a good sign of frustration, and you didn’t make either of them look weak, submit or get pinned. It actually makes Cena look strongest in my opinion as he didn’t get pinned after the Angle Slam, and didn’t submit in the Ankle Lock. But in the aftermatch it was a different story, as Angle left Cena lying in the ring in pain. Great writing here!
Overall:Overall you keep impressing me. Simply said! Great show, cause even though you’re writing your shows in recap form, you still manage to keep the superstars in character, make the matches and segments interesting and exciting, and catch my attention over and over again. Keep it going, cause I’ll definitely keep reading!
War Machine
Last week on ECW “The War Machine”, the former ECW champion and ECW Original, Rhino returned to the land of extreme. This return wasn’t a happy one though with Rhino showing utter disgust for ECW’s new way of doing things. Rhino opened ECW as a guest on the Abraham Washington Show which didn’t last long when he Gored Abe and slapped Tony Atlas across the face. Later on in the night he would attack ECW Champion, Christian after the ECW Title match against William Regal, goring him. What will Rhino do this week? Will Christian attempt to get payback?
What’s Your Answer?
After weeks of feuding between The Hurricane and Paul Burchill over whether or not The Hurricane and Gregory Helms were one in the same, Paul Burchill decided it was time to end this time. Burchill proposed a match where if he won, The Hurricane would remove his mask but if The Hurricane won, Paul and his sister Katie Lea would leave ECW. Paul told ECW that this week he would expect an answer on whether or not The Hurricane accepts the challenge. Will The Hurricane accept the challenge?
The Champ is Here?
Last week former TNA X-Division Champion, D’Angelo Dinero made his debut, defeating Zack Ryder. Although D’Angelo for some reason was wearing the TNA X-Division Championship around his waist when he made his way to the ring and held the belt in the air after the match. It was obvious that this wasn’t just a fashion statement and that D’Angelo isn’t quite letting go of the X-Division title. What will happen this week in relation to the X-Division Championship? Will ECW General Manager Tiffany step in and put Dinero in his place or will The Pope get what he wants, whatever that is.
Confirmed Matches
Sheamus versus William Regal w/ Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov
Zack Ryder versus D-Von Dudley w/Bubba Ray Dudley
ECW On Sci-Fi
October 27th, 2009 | Rochester, New York
Lets Change This Place
The show begins with the fireworks exploding, the music playing and Don West, Byron Saxton and Matt Striker welcoming us to the show. It isn’t long before Paul Burchill along with his sister Katie Lea Burchill make their way to the ring. Burchill cuts right to the chase saying that last week he offered The Hurricane a chance to end this thing once and for all, a match between the two of them where if he wins, The Hurricane must remove his mask but if The Hurricane wins, Paul, along with his sister, will leave ECW. Paul says that its been a week and he expects The Hurricane’s answer…unless he’s scared. The Hurricane comes out right away, showing Paul that he isn’t afraid. The Hurricane says that Paul is right, its time to end this thing. The Hurricane continues to says that he doesn’t understand what Paul’s problem with him is though. The Hurricane says that he’s just trying to have fun and if Paul wants to put his entire career on the line just to end his fun, that’s fine, he accepts. The Hurricane says that Paul had better cherish his time on ECW tonight because next week, will be Paul’s last. The Hurricane turns to leave but Paul jumps him from behind, trying to get an upper hand before their match next week.
Paul nails some vicious forearms to the back of The Hurricane’s head, trying his best to knock The Hurricane out cold. Paul gets up, takes his jacket off and then starts to put the boot to The Hurricane. The Hurricane lays there motionless, just taking what Paul gives him. The Hurricane is defenceless as some security rushes to the ring. Paul disposes of them rather quickly though and goes right back to work on The Hurricane. Paul pulls him to his feet, sets him up and drops him with the Dangerous Buster! Paul, looking quite satisfied with himself, finally leaves the ring with his sister behind him. Paul stands at the top of the ramp and signals to The Hurricane that he will take his mask off before going off stage.
Next we see some advertisements for WWE’s next PPV event, Survivor Series which will be taking place in less then three weeks at the Verizon Center in Washington DC. When we return from the advert it is time for the first match of the night. The first man out is “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus and his opponent for this evening is William Regal who is being accompanied by Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov. Sheamus dominates the first few minutes of the match, tossing Regal around like a rag doll but for some reason, it seems like Regal isn’t really trying, it seems like even when Regal can fight back, he doesn’t. At the five minute mark, just as Sheamus is about to hit the Bicycle Kick, Regal ducks the kick, rolls out of the ring and simply leaves with Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov. Regal doesn’t look angry or frustrated as he backs up the ramp but rather, he looks impressed and has sort of a smirk on his face as the referee reaches the ten count and awards Sheamus with the victory. Sheamus looks very confused as he celebrates his latest victory.
Commercial Break
When we return from the break, “The War Machine” Rhino, makes his way out to the ring with a microphone in hand. Rhino looks across the crowd in disgust as they boo him. Rhino tells the fans that being here makes him physically sick to his stomach and he cant stand it here in ECW! Rhino says that this isn’t ECW though, this is a shell, a shadow, a cheap imitation of ECW. Rhino says that ECW is the place that he gave his blood, sweat and tears to for years and years but then the WWE bought it and turned into this! Rhino informs everyone that he isn’t going to stand idly by and watch the ECW name be made into a joke. Rhino says that he’s going to change it and he’s going to save it, if it’s the last thing he does. But Rhino says that he wont have to do it alone because there are other people like him, other people who cant stand it here and want this place to change. Rhino tells the fans to give a round of applause to the men that are going to change this place with him. D’Angelo Dinero steps onto the top of the ramp. After the fans finish giving him some boos, The British Invasion also comes out. The four of them make their way to the ring together as Rhino gets back on the mic.
Rhino says that these men weren’t in the original ECW but that doesn’t mean they don’t hate this place just as much as he does. Rhino takes a less serious tone for a moment as he tells the crowd that the funny thing is that the five of them have only been here for a week and they already want out. The fans give Rhino, The British Invasion and Dinero some boos but their boos quickly turn to cheers as the ECW Champion, Christian, comes threw the curtain with his music blaring. Christian makes his way to the ring, shaking his head the entire way. Christian gets right in the ring, showing that he isn’t afraid to stand face to face with the five of them. Christian grabs a microphone and reminds everyone that last week, Rhino attacked him after his match with William Regal. Christian tells Rhino that he’s going to let that slide though Christian says that what Rhino has been saying, he cant let that slide. Christian says that although it might be difficult for Rhino’s pea brain to comprehend this, he has put his blood, his sweat and his tears into this ECW and just like Rhino is going to defend the original ECW, he is going to defend this ECW!
Christian gets right in Rhino’s face and says that either Rhino can live with this place or if he wants to change it, he’ll have to go threw him. Rhino says that’s where Christian is wrong, he doesn’t have to live with it, The British Invasion don’t have to live with it, D’Angelo Dinero doesn’t have to live with it and all he fans that want to see this place change don’t have to live with it. Rhino says that if Christian wants them to go threw him though, that’s fine. With that said, all five men jump Christian and start a mugging in the middle of the ring. There are five feet hitting Christian at a time and there is nothing he can do to defend himself. Just as it looks like Christian might be in serious trouble, the cavalry arrives in the form of Yoshi Tatsu, Shelton Benjamin and Tommy Dreamer. Although they odds are against the three of them, they have the surprise advantage and they quickly take The British Invasion, Rhino and D’Angelo out of the ring the hard way.
Rhino and the other four men look livid as they make their way up the ramp. Yoshi Tatsu checks on Christian as Tommy and Shelton yell at Rhino and his buddies.
Commercial Break
When we return from the break it is time for the second match of the evening and it is between Zack Ryder and D-Von Dudley who is being accompanied to the ring by his brother, Bubba Dudley. D-Von shows the young punk, Zack Ryder a thing or two in this match, taking control on several occasions with his superior experience. Ryder is very cocky in this match, often taunting D-Von, Bubba and the fans. Ryder, the younger and father competitor in this match, takes control on several occasions as well, hitting D-Von with a flurry of offence every once in awhile only to be knocked back down by D-Von’s power. The finish of the match comes when Ryder gets a little too cocky and decides to taunt the crowd while D-Von isn’t fully down. D-Von gets a burst of energy and quickly puts Zack away with the Saving Grace. Bubba got in the ring after the match to celebrate with his brother. As they were celebrating, The Big Show came threw the crowd behind them and jumped them from behind. Show clotheslined them both over the back of the head, putting them to the ground. Show then proceeded to put the boot to both of them but Bubba and D-Von fought their way up and mounted some offence.
Bubba and D-Von hit Show with a flurry of fists and went off the ropes, looking for a double clothesline but Show grabbed them both around the throats and dropped them both with a double chokeslam. Show stood over D-Von and Bubba with a big smile on his big face as Chris Jericho stepped onto the top of the ramp and smirked at Show’s dominance.
We then go backstage to Tiffany’s office. D’Angelo Dinero walks in with the TNA X-Division Championship strapped tightly around his waist. Tiffany stands up and takes notice to D’Angelo’s arrival. She welcomes him to ECW and asks what she can do for him. The Pope says that he’s sure that Tiffany has heard about him being unhappy here on ECW. Tiffany says that she did hear that and she is sorry to hear it. The Pope says that he is ECW’s biggest star and he’s only been here a week, he tells Tiffany that she had better make him happy or she will be losing the face of ECW. Tiffany says that maybe they can work something out and asks The Pope what would make him happy. Dinero takes the TNA X-Division Championship off from around hi waist and lays it down on Tiffany’s desk. The Pope says that he doesn’t care if WWE has vacated all TNA Titles, he has never lost the X-Division Championship and The Pope says that he is still X-Division Champion. Tiffany says that she doesn’t know what that has to do with her.
The Pope says that he wants the X-Division Championship to be reactivated and he wants to be named the first ever WWE X-Division Champion. Tiffany says that is a tall order and she says that the WWE board of directors themselves made the decision to vacate all TNA Titles. Tiffany says that she doesn’t have the power to reinstate the title and brand it as a WWE Belt. The Pope takes the title off of her desk and puts it over his shoulder. He does not look happy as he tells Tiffany that he’ll take care of it and for Tiffany not to worry her “pretty little head.” The Pope walks out and Tiffany looks a little insulted at what The Pope just said.
We then to Tommy Dreamer’s locker room. Dreamer is getting ready for his tag match with Christian as Rhino walks in. Tommy quickly jumps to his feet, ready for a fight but Rhino assures him that he isn’t there for a fight and tells him to calm down. Rhino tells Tommy that he’s there to talk but Tommy quickly snaps at Rhino that he doesn’t want to talk to him. Rhino tells Tommy that he doesn’t have to talk to him, he just wants him to listen. Rhino says that he saw Tommy out there earlier tonight defending this “ECW” and frankly, he was surprised. Rhino tells Tommy that he thought Tommy was the innovator of violence, he thought Tommy was the heart and soul of ECW, he thought Tommy loved ECW more then anything in the entire world. Tommy who is clearly getting frustrated stands up and yells at Rhino to shut up, he does love ECW more then anything, that’s why he’s still here. Tommy sits back down and mumbles to Rhino “where did you go?” Tommy hangs his head for a second, trying to calm down. Tommy then calmly tells Rhino that he did love the original ECW but this ECW is different and he’s accepted that.
Rhino tells Tommy that he sounds just like the rest of them, “It’s different”, well it doesn’t have to be. Rhino says that he doesn’t know what has gotten into Tommy Dreamer but he doesn’t like it and Rhino tells Tommy that he doesn’t think Tommy likes it either. Rhino says that if the old Tommy Dreamer ever decides to come back, there is always a place next to him, trying to change ECW back to what is used to be. Rhino stands up and says that’s all he had to say. Rhino lets himself out and the camera zooms in on Tommy Dreamer who surprisingly, is actually thinking really hard about what Rhino just said.
Commercial Break
When we return from the break, it is time for the main event of the evening and that is a tag team match with Christian and Tommy Dreamer facing off against Brutus Magnus and Doug Williams, The British Invasion. The British Invasion is obviously with their third member and muscle of the group, Rob Terry. During this match, Tommy Dreamer was isolated by Magnus and Williams who made frequent tags in and out, keeping each other fresh and cutting the ring in half. Dreamer nearly got pinned several times but he eventually made the hot tag to Christian. Christian came in with a head of steam and took down both Magnus and Williams and hit the Killswitch and Magnus who was the legal man at the time. Just as Christian went for the pinfall though, Rob Terry got on the apron and distracted the referee and Christian.
Christian knocked Terry off the apron and paid for it when Magnus rolled him up but Christian managed to kick out. It wasn’t long before Christian took control of the match again and eventually hit the Killswitch of Magnus a second time and got the pinfall this time. As Dreamer and Christian were celebrating, D’Angelo Dinero and Rhino charged the ring and started to beat them down. Dreamer rolled out of the ring and grabbed a steel chair and then proceeded to chase Rhino and Dinero off. As Christian got to his feet, Dreamer stood behind him with the chair and looked like he was really thinking. He even raised the chair a little bit but he decided to drop the chair and celebrate with Christian, but the fans were left thinking about what Dreamer as thinking about just a moment ago. The show went off the air with D’Angelo Dinero, Rhino and The British Invasion backing up the ramp with Dreamer and Christian celebrating in the ring.
