Default WWE: New Dawn

Just one day after 2009’s Hell in a Cell Pay-Per-View, Mr. McMahon appeared live on RAW with a blockbuster announcement. Not only had the ECW Brand been disbanded, but in its place New Breed Wrestling had arose with Shane McMahon acting as the General Manager. Over on RAW, the Guest Host concept was abandoned and Stephanie McMahon was named the permanent GM of the brand. And on SmackDown, after a long period of probation, Theodore Long was removed from power and former ECW General Manager Tiffany Terrell was named the new GM of SmackDown.

In an effort to "shake things up again," the brands were redrafted and all Champions were stripped of their gold. With WWE on the road to New Dawn, new championship contenders emerge and new superstars begin to make names for themselves. WWE New Dawn was held on October 25, 2009, officially marking a new beginning in WWE.

It's A New Dawn in WWE
Written: October 5, 2009

WILKES BARRE, Pa. — Just one night removed from the hellacious event of WWE’s Hell in a Cell Pay-Per-View event, many couldn’t believe anything could compare. That is, until RAW emanated live with a major announcement scheduled from WWE Chairman, Mr. McMahon.

Mr. McMahon’s Shocking Announcement
Opening the show, the WWE Chairman, Mr. McMahon himself, made a surprise appearance on RAW to deliver a blockbuster declaration. “It’s time to shake things up again!” McMahon enthused before announcing that not only have all the rosters been redrafted, but all Champions have been stripped of their Titles as well.

Mr. McMahon also announced that the Extreme Championship Wrestling brand had held its final show, and in its place, a New Breed of Sports Entertainment would rise from the ashes. Mr. McMahon then introduced Shane McMahon, the new General Manager of New Breed Wrestling. Shane announced the reason he created the brand was to give the superstars of tomorrow their chance to shine on a show created specifically for them!

With ECW now once again defunct, where did that leave Miss Tiffany Terrell, the former General Manager of that brand? Mr. McMahon invited her to the ring and announced that due to her exemplary work on ECW, she’d been named the new General Manager of SmackDown, replacing Theodore Long who’d been on probation of a number of weeks. Tiffany thanked Mr. McMahon and the WWE Universe for the opportunity and promised to make SmackDown the number one brand in WWE.

Finally, Mr. McMahon took the time to address WWE’s Flagship program, Monday Night RAW. He stated that while former RAW Owner Donald Trump’s idea of having a guest host each week had been innovative, the concept was no more and a new General Manager of RAW had been named. A second later, the music of Vince’s second child, Stephanie McMahon, was heard and the Billion Dollar Princess joined her father, brother, and Tiffany in the ring.

Stephanie thanked her father and warned the General Managers of SmackDown and New Breed Wrestling that RAW is and always will be WWE’s number one brand. Mr. McMahon then announced that in three weeks time, WWE would hold its first ever New Dawn Pay-Per-View to mark this new Era in WWE.

Mark Henry & MVP def. Ezekiel Jackson & Vladimir Kozlov
In the opening contest, the newly formed team of Mark Henry and Montel Vontavious Porter tested their skills against the formidable duo of Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov. With the Unified Tag Team Championships vacated by Mr. McMahon at the beginning of the broadcast, both teams were eager to impress and prove they were worth of the first opportunity to become the new Champions. And after a devastating World’s Strongest Slam to Jackson, the team of Henry and MVP moved one step closer to reaching that goal.

Mr. Kennedy.........KENNEDY Returns!
Apparently, the recently conducted WWE Draft didn’t exclude former superstars, as tonight marked the return of the outspoken wrestler from Green Bay. Met with a rousing welcome back, Mr. Kennedy addressed the WWE Universe until he was interrupted by Jack Swagger. The All-American American stated that RAW was his show and not Kennedy or anyone else would stand in his way of becoming the new WWE Intercontinental Champion.

The Brian Kendrick def. Primo Colón
A second former Superstar returned to the ring in a match with Primo Colón. Kendrick proved to be at the top of his game, making quick work of the WWE Rookie.

Mickie James & Gail Kim def. Beth Phoenix & Jillian Hall
The RAW Divas saw action next in a tag team contest. Beth Phoenix continued to be a dominant force, however, her failure to co-exist with tag partner Jillian proved to be her team’s downfall. Mickie and Gail operated as a cohesive unit, allowing Gail to pick up the victory over Phoenix.

In the Diva’s Locker Room after the match, Natalya Neidhart “congratulated” Beth Phoenix on her loss. The second generation Diva then implied The Glamazon’s reign as RAW’s dominant Diva had come to a conclusion.

Santino Makes a New Friend
R-Truth was welcomed to RAW by none other than Santino Marella, who performed his own version of R-Truth’s “What’s Up” theme song, drawing laughs from both R-Truth and the entire WWE Universe.

John Morrison vs. The Miz Ended in a No Contest
The two former Slammy Award-winning tag team partners met in what would have been a great match had it not been for the interference by Jack Swagger. Presumably acting upon his belief that he is the only contender for the vacant Intercontinental Championship, Swagger attacked both competitors. The All-American American’s presence drew out Mr. Kennedy after their confrontation earlier in the night, initiating a four-man brawl that continued until the Superstars were separated by WWE Officials.

Stephanie McMahon Addresses the World Heavyweight Championship
Randy Orton stood in the middle of the ring claiming to be the rightful World Heavyweight Champion after having been stripped of the WWE Championship as a result of Mr. McMahon’s restructuring. John Cena, who had lost the WWE Championship to Orton the night before, claimed that their rivalry was not yet over, and he deserved a chance at the World Heavyweight Championship just as much as Orton did. One by one, Orton and Cena were joined by Rey Mysterio, The Big Show, and D Generation-X members Triple H and Shawn Michaels, all of whom claimed a right to the vacated Championship.

Stephanie McMahon announced that the only way to settle this dispute was with a match. A Six-Pack Challenge, to be exact, to be held at WWE New Dawn, featuring Orton, Cena, Mysterio, Michaels, Triple H and The Big Show. She also agreed that the feud between Orton and Cena was not yet over, and signed a singles match between the two superstars as the main event for next week’s RAW!

Default October 6, 2009 - New Breed Wrestling

New Breed Rising
Written: October 6, 2009

TRENTON, N.J. — It was the birth of a new brand in professional wrestling: the New Breed.

Shane McMahon Guests on the Abraham Washington Show
As a guest on The Abraham Washington Show, Shane McMahon welcomed the WWE Universe to the inaugural broadcast of WWE’s newest phenomenon: New Breed Wrestling. During the interview, Shane revealed that New Breed Wrestling was his creation and that he had fought long and hard with his father in order to bring the brand to life. While McMahon credited former ECW General Manager Tiffany Terrell for initiating his vision of a brand for the stars of tomorrow, it was only now with the creation of New Breed Wrestling that those superstars would really get their chance to shine.

He went on to say that while ECW failed on numerous levels, NBW would not. Quite candidly, Shane admitted that WWE’s version of ECW had been a failed attempt to capitalize on a once successful brand. WWE’s ECW had little, if anything, to do with the original ECW product and was a highly inferior imitation that arguably tarnished the original’s extreme legacy. McMahon then emphasized that NBW was its own entity and that in time it will grow to be the highly successful product.

Before concluding the interview, Abraham asked Shane his thoughts about his sister taking the reins on RAW. In response, Shane promised that it wouldn’t be long before NBW surpassed both RAW and SmackDown as the top brand in WWE.

Kevin Thorn def. Matt Bentley
A somewhat unrecognizable Kevin Thorn made his return to WWE in a match-up against Matt Bentley. Despite no longer appearing to be a member of the vampiric order, Thorn proved to be as tough as ever, earning a decisive victory after a Crucifix powerbomb.

Tommy Dreamer Bids Farwell to ECW
Entering the arena accompanied by the original ECW theme, Tommy Dreamer thanked the WWE Universe for embracing the ECW brand for the last three years. His words were met with a rousing “ECW” chant from the fans, until they were drowned out by the music of Zack Ryder, who made his way to the ring. Ryder celebrated the sudden death of ECW, stating it never should have been resurrected to begin with. He then went on to say that he was the “star” of New Breed Wrestling and that “washed-up has-beens” like Tommy Dreamer had no business on “his” show. Before Dreamer could respond, Ryder slapped the taste out of his mouth, before being booed out of the building.

Matt Hardy def. Paul Burchill
Before the match got underway, in the backstage area, Layla El wished Paul Burchill luck in his match with Matt Hardy. Katie Lea Burchill, Paul’s sister, was clearly not amused as she gave Layla a look that could kill.

The special attention from Layla didn’t seem to go to Paul’s head, however, as he was as vicious as ever inside the squared circle. Matt Hardy would fight back however, before finally gaining the upper hand and hitting an unsuspecting Burchill with the Twist of Fate, allowing the veteran to score the victory.

TR Gordy Is Coming to NBW
A video package aired touting the impending arrival of second-generation superstar TR Gordy, son of the late Terry Gordy, one half of The Fabulous Freebirds.

Finlay def. Chris Masters
In the Main Event, Finlay met Chris Masters one-on-one, or so it was scheduled. While both men were equally matched, it would be Finlay’s son Hornswoggle that would prove to be the difference maker. The Masterpiece had Finlay locked into the Masterlock when Hornswoggle emerged from under the ring wielding Finlay’s shillelagh and delivered a devastating low blow to Masters’ family jewels. As the interference had gone undetected by the referee, Finlay capitalized on the situation, nailing Masters with the Celtic Cross and subsequently picking up the victory.

There is just two things I would like to say so far,

1) The concept is great. This NBW show is good and it looks like you have put alot of time into the backstory which I commend

2) Sadly, the shows are far too short. The recap form that you are using is fine by me but I gotta say that there has to be more detail.

Overall. Its good but there is lots of work to be done

Thank you so much for your honest feedback! I really do appreciate it. Looking over the first two shows, you are right, there is far more detail I could have included in those results. Like Superstars, NBW is a one hour show, so those recaps will be somewhat shorter than those of RAW/SD. I already have the first 3 weeks of shows written, so before I post any more, I'll go back and revise. That being said, I think you may be a little more pleased with my first edition of SmackDown, as I've been told it was the best show of my 'debut week' by someone who has already read it. Hopefully if that show is better received, it'll give me a better idea as to what I should be trying to create in the future. Thanks again!

I must say I feel for Chris Masters! That shot from Finlay had to hurt. You always have great ideas and I'm eager to see where things take off from. With wrestlers like London, Kidman, Kennedy all coming back I think you will be able to make the rosters even better. I really like the 6-pack challenge. I think starting out something like that can be something good to watch out for. A Natayla vs. Beth Phoenix feud would be awesome to see. Since they both are strong divas.

I think you are having a good start with the things you have done, and I do wish you the best. You have put a lot of work into what you have done and it does show. I like your first two shows it should be good to see what else you come up with.

Default October 8, 2009 - WWE Superstars

Golden Dreams
Written: October 8, 2009

Mr. McMahon’s announcement shook WWE to its very core and the ramifications are still being felt days later. Tonight, NBW made its WWE Superstars debut while two Championship landscapes started to take shape.

Sheamus O’Shaunessy def. Pepper Parks
With Parks already in the ring, Shane McMahon entered the arena to personally introduce The Celtic Warrior, a man who Shane called “the future” of this industry. Sheamus O’Shaunessy made his way to the ring and the match commenced. Just like last week, Sheamus continued to display an immense level of ruthless aggression tonight as he fought Pepper Parks during NBW’s first-ever portion of WWE Superstars. Shane McMahon must have told Sheamus to make an impact because he absolutely decimated his opponent. Sheamus earned a quick victory after slamming Parks with the Irish Curse, but the punishment didn’t end there. The Celtic Warrior continued the beat down until Parks lay motionless in the center of the ring.

Tiffany Terrell’s First Interview as SmackDown GM
In an interview with Courtney Taylor, new SmackDown General Manager Tiffany Terrell thanked the WWE Universe for their support in her transition from ECW to SmackDown GM. In return, she promised to make SmackDown their show, featuring the Superstars and matches they wanted to see! She then stated that she would make a major announcement this Friday Night on SmackDown regarding the vacated WWE Championship. However, as far as WWE Superstars was concerned, she had scheduled the first of two Golden Dreams Matches to determine the contenders for the WWE Diva’s Championship.

The Hart Dynasty def. Cryme Tyme
The brand may have changed, but the animosity remained. After weeks of one-upmanship and back and forth victories, not even a WWE Draft could settle the score. And now with a potential opportunity at the WWE Unified Tag Team Championship one the line, neither team held anything back. Just like in their rivalry thus far, this match featured a lot of back and forth action with both teams scoring near falls. Eventually, the momentum began to tip heavily in The Hart Dynasty’s favor, which is where it stayed for the remainder of the match. With Shad having been tossed from the ring, The Dynasty hit JTG with the Hart Attack. Tyson Kidd then launched himself over the top rope taking Shad down while David Hart Smith covered the other member of Cryme Tyme in the center of the ring. In the end, it would be the Calgary natives who came out on top and moved one step closer to becoming Unified Tag Team Champions.

Maria Kanellis won the Golden Dreams Match
With a golden star affixed to a pole that had been attached to one of the ring posts, one by one the entire SmackDown Diva Roster: Alicia Fox, Brie Bella, Eve Torres, Maria Kanellis, Maryse Ouellet, Michelle McCool, Nikki Bella and Rosa Mendes made her way out to the ring. The match objective was simple: be the first Diva to retrieve the star. The Diva to do so would become one half of the match to determine the new WWE Diva’s Champion. While former Champions Maryse and Michelle were obviously favored, the other Divas in the match-up looked to be just as eager to get a taste of their own of championship gold. In a match that saw many near finishes, including one attempt by Maryse that was averted in the last second by the Bella Twins, it seemed as though Michelle McCool would be the one to win the match. Sadly for Michelle, before she could claim the star, she too was stopped in her tracks by Eve and Rosa. Having thrown Michelle out of the ring, Rosa and Eve began to battle with each other. Meanwhile, having planted Alicia Fox with a bulldog, Maria seized the opportune moment and climbed the turnbuckle and reached for the star. Her foot was grabbed by Rosa, but Maria fended her off just long enough to reach out and retrieve the golden star.

After the match, Maria and the WWE Universe celebrated her victory, having now earned the opportunity to compete for the WWE Diva’s Championship.

This thread has really interested me alot. So with Superstars the fact that Shane personally comes out and announces Sheamus.... really means alot and I hope he is used well in this thread. The Golden Dreams idea was interesting to me...... it is something really different then just having a Divas Battle Royal. Anyway glad to see Maria win. The Cryme Tyme vs. Hart Dynasty should of been the main event I feel maybe a bit longer of a re-cap too but its all good.

I'm really digging your shows and something I really like is you keeping Tiffany as a GM. When people keep ECW, they automatically eliminate her... now she is with SD! and is still a GM which I love, because she is a good GM IRL. I hope you stick to this thread and best of luck dude.
